  1. You are listening to a message from Southwood Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama.

  2. Our passion is to experience and express grace. Join us.

  3. Good morning. It's good to be here at Southwood this morning and I want to say thank you for

  4. giving me this opportunity to preach and bring God's Word this morning and also worship.

  5. And so, with that being said, if you have your Bibles or you can look up at the screen,

  6. you'll see that we'll be looking at Matthew chapter 7, verses 21 through 23.

    Matthew 7:21–23

  7. And as always, this is God's good and holy Word. It stands over us. It is for our good and for our benefit.

  8. Therefore, let us give our attention to it.

  9. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven,

  10. but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

  11. On that day, many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?

  12. And cast out demons in your name?

  13. And do many mighty works in your name?

  14. And then will I declare to them,

  15. I never knew you.

  16. Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

  17. This is God's Word. Let me pray for us and pray for our time this morning.

  18. Let's pray.

  19. Jesus, as always,

  20. as always, we need you.

  21. We need your grace.

  22. We need your mercy.

  23. We need your kindness to us.

  24. Especially

  25. where we are sitting under your Word.

  26. Lord, we ask that you would be with us this morning,

  27. that you would soften our hearts,

  28. that we might hear you and hear your Word.

  29. We ask that you would unstop our ears

  30. and again shine the light of your grace upon us,

  31. that we might take in these hard but good words,

  32. that we might see you as beautiful,

  33. as glorious,

  34. that we might see your gospel as it really is,

  35. the good news for us.

  36. our prayer this morning, Lord,

  37. is that you would be our teacher,

  38. that by your Spirit,

  39. you would teach us.

  40. For we,

  41. your people,

  42. we do not need to hear from a man,

  43. but we need to hear from you.

  44. And so we ask,

  45. kindly,

  46. humbly,

  47. begging,

  48. that you, God,

  49. would be gracious and kind to us

  50. and speak to us,

  51. that we might be changed,

  52. that we might leave this place

  53. differently from the way we came in.

  54. We ask,

  55. Lord,

  56. that you would use me,

  57. a sinner,

  58. to proclaim the goodness

  59. and the excellencies of your kingdom.

  60. We pray all these things in Christ's name.

  61. Amen.

  62. Growing up,

  63. I was a part of about six friends

  64. who were really big into WWF wrestling.

  65. So much that I pretty much used to say

  66. that Hulk Hogan was my dad.

  67. I don't know if you can see the resemblance.

  68. But we really loved wrestling.

  69. We would talk about it all the time.

  70. It would consume our lives.

  71. It consumed everything we did.

  72. And these circle of friends,

  73. we would,

  74. you know,

  75. a lot of times just try to emulate

  76. what we saw on WWF the night before.

  77. Well,

  78. there's one friend in this group

  79. who in particular was a friend

  80. who made us comfortable in a lot of ways.

  81. And the reason why is because

  82. whenever this friend would come around,

  83. we knew to be on our guards.

  84. We knew that we better watch out.

  85. And the reason why is because this friend,

  86. instead of greeting you like a normal person would,

  87. you know,

  88. like a handshake or a hug,

  89. this friend would greet you with a wrestling move.

  90. And so we would be standing in a circle

  91. and we would see this guy coming

  92. and immediately we'd start trembling

  93. because we knew,

  94. okay,

  95. he's about to put one of us in a full Nelson

  96. or he's about to dropkick one of us

  97. and we're just going to have to take it.

  98. And the thing about it was

  99. that was his way of saying hello to us.

  100. And so it got worse over time.

  101. The more we saw him coming,

  102. the more immediately in our hearts we would tremble

  103. because we knew that this could be the day

  104. that you would be suplexed on concrete

  105. or you would be putting the figure four leg lock.

  106. And for those of you who are like me now,

  107. a little jaded about wrestling,

  108. is you know it's not real,

  109. but if you do these moves in real life on people,

  110. they actually hurt.

  111. And so this friend was an extreme source

  112. of anxiety and discomfort for me.

  113. And when I think about that story

  114. and that experience growing up,

  115. there are very few times

  116. where I feel that sense of angst

  117. and anxiety and discomfort.

  118. And one of those ways in particular

  119. is at times when I read the Word of God.

  120. That you're reading in your Bibles,

  121. you're having your personal time of devotion with God,

  122. and then you stumble on a passage

  123. like this one we read this morning.

  124. That Jesus is speaking to his disciples

  125. and talking about what it means to be in his kingdom.

  126. And then he says this,

  127. Not everyone who says to me,

  128. Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven.

  129. Not everyone who says to me,

  130. Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven.

  131. That as I think about these words,

  132. that immediately they unsettle me.

  133. That these words bring to mind

  134. the words of C.S. Lewis

  135. in his work,

  136. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,

  137. if you're familiar with.

  138. The first time the children are going to meet Aslan,

  139. who's this God figure.

  140. And they are inquiring to figure out

  141. what is Aslan like?

  142. And they're asking Mr. Beaver these questions.

  143. And Lucy asks this question,

  144. Is he safe?

  145. And you can remember Mr. Beaver's response,

  146. Safe?

  147. Safe?

  148. Who said anything about safe?

  149. But he's good.

  150. Safe?

  151. Safe?

  152. Safe?

  153. Who said anything about safe?

  154. But he is good.

  155. And that's what I want you to come away with this morning.

  156. That Jesus says hard things to us.

  157. Things that make us feel unsafe.

  158. But it is for our good.

  159. It is for our benefit.

  160. That Jesus in this passage is talking about

  161. what it means to enter the kingdom of heaven.

  162. And he shows us,

  163. for our purposes this morning,

  164. these three things.

  165. That Jesus shows us

  166. that entrance into the kingdom of heaven

  167. is not through right theology.

  168. Secondly, he shows us that entrance

  169. into the kingdom of heaven

  170. is not through right works.

  171. But thirdly, he shows us that

  172. entrance into the kingdom of heaven

  173. is through him and him alone.

  174. So not through right theology,

  175. not through right works,

  176. but through him and him alone.

  177. So as we consider this passage

  178. in light of this first point,

  179. you might be familiar,

  180. this is the Gospel of Matthew.

  181. This is one of the five major teaching sections

  182. of the Gospel of Matthew

  183. where Jesus has began to speak about his kingdom.

  184. And in Matthew 5,

  185. he begins what we know as

  186. the Sermon on the Mount.

  187. He begins with the Beatitudes.

  188. He begins by talking about

  189. how the law speaks to our hearts,

  190. how it shows us our sin

  191. and our need for God's grace.

  192. He continues in talking about

  193. what it means to pray

  194. and what it means to trust God

  195. and not be anxious.

  196. And then as you get into chapter 7,

  197. he begins to talk about false prophets

  198. and trees that do not bear good fruit.

  199. And then we get to verse 21

  200. and he says this,

  201. Not everyone who says to me,

  202. Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven,

  203. but the one who does the will of my Father

  204. who is in heaven.

  205. And if you think about those words,

  206. Lord, Lord,

  207. in the context in which this passage is given,

  208. that what Jesus is teaching us

  209. is that for these people

  210. of whom he's speaking,

  211. they really do understand

  212. and get some things about him.

  213. That, for example,

  214. they get the fact

  215. that he is Lord.

  216. They get the fact

  217. that he is master

  218. and ruler over all things.

  219. They get that he is sovereign

  220. and in control of all things.

  221. Now, I know it's easy for us at times

  222. to miss the significance

  223. of the word Lord,

  224. especially in Southern culture

  225. because it's ingrained in our culture.

  226. But I want you to take a step back

  227. and try to imagine

  228. what it would be like

  229. for a first century Jew

  230. to call Jesus Lord.

  231. that for one thing,

  232. they would be guilty

  233. of one of the greatest sins

  234. in the eyes of Jewish religious leaders.

  235. That you don't call a man Lord.

  236. That is blasphemy.

  237. That is wrong.

  238. And in some cases,

  239. it's punishable by death.

  240. But also,

  241. that this group of people

  242. were under Roman authority.

  243. That is,

  244. they were taught

  245. that only one person was Lord.

  246. And it's not Jesus.

  247. It's Caesar.

  248. Caesar is Lord.

  249. And any threat to his lordship

  250. was a crime

  251. that was punishable by death.

  252. And yet,

  253. Jesus would say

  254. of these people,

  255. listen,

  256. you really do get

  257. who I am.

  258. That you call me Lord,

  259. and rightly so.

  260. And yet,

  261. we see

  262. that he says

  263. these hard words.

  264. not everyone

  265. who says to me,

  266. Lord, Lord,

  267. will enter

  268. the kingdom of heaven.

  269. It shows us

  270. that even though

  271. these people,

  272. theologically speaking,

  273. knew things about God

  274. that were right,

  275. that that,

  276. in and of itself,

  277. was not enough.

  278. That that alone

  279. did not save them.

  280. And especially

  281. being a ordained minister

  282. in the Presbyterian Church

  283. in America,

  284. I think this is something

  285. we need to hear.

  286. That you and I

  287. need to hear

  288. over and over again

  289. that

  290. reformed theology

  291. does not save us.

  292. That the five solas

  293. don't save us.

  294. That adherence

  295. to the Westminster standards

  296. do not save us.

  297. That our perfect theology

  298. does not save us.

  299. Jesus saves us.

  300. Jesus alone saves us.

  301. And he is saying,

  302. not everyone who says to me,

  303. Lord, Lord,

  304. will enter the kingdom of heaven.

  305. And I know

  306. when we hear these words,

  307. as I so often do,

  308. I just immediately think,

  309. well, he's not talking

  310. about me.

  311. He's talking about

  312. those other people.

  313. And I'm going to ask

  314. that you not do that.

  315. I'm going to ask

  316. that you not run to

  317. the Westminster Confession

  318. of Faith,

  319. chapter 17 and 18,

  320. on the assurance

  321. of grace and salvation

  322. and perseverance

  323. of the saints.

  324. I'm going to ask you

  325. to be vulnerable

  326. and let the words

  327. of Jesus cut.

  328. and let them

  329. do their good work.

  330. Because what he is

  331. saying to us

  332. is that is

  333. not enough

  334. to save us.

  335. And that's not to say

  336. what we believe

  337. doesn't matter.

  338. It's not to say

  339. just throw all our theology

  340. out the window.

  341. But it is to say

  342. that if we are resting

  343. in and on that,

  344. it will not save us.

  345. We will be sorely

  346. disappointed

  347. on the last day

  348. if that is our hope.

  349. Jesus saves us.

  350. Martin Lloyd-Jones,

  351. as we wrap up

  352. this first point,

  353. says that orthodoxy,

  354. that's right belief,

  355. is absolutely vital

  356. and essential.

  357. Unless we believe

  358. that Jesus of Nazareth

  359. is indeed

  360. the Son of God,

  361. unless we recognize

  362. him as the eternal Son,

  363. substance of the eternal substance,

  364. made flesh

  365. and dwelling amongst us,

  366. unless we believe

  367. the New Testament doctrine

  368. that he was sent by God

  369. to be the Messiah,

  370. the Savior of the world,

  371. and that because of that

  372. he has been exalted

  373. and is Lord of all,

  374. to whom every knee

  375. shall eventually bow,

  376. we are not Christian at all.

  377. We must believe that.

  378. To be a Christian

  379. is a matter

  380. of believing certain truths

  381. concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.

  382. In other words,

  383. believing on him.

  384. There's no such thing

  385. as Christianity

  386. apart from that.

  387. To be a Christian

  388. means that we rest

  389. our entire case,

  390. our whole salvation,

  391. our whole eternal destiny,

  392. entirely upon

  393. the Lord Jesus Christ.

  394. That is why

  395. a true Christian

  396. says,

  397. Lord, Lord.

  398. That is the content

  399. of the statement.

  400. It does not just mean

  401. saying the right words.

  402. It indicates that we mean

  403. those things

  404. when we say them.

  405. It is not just saying

  406. the right words.

  407. It indicates that we mean

  408. those things

  409. when we say them.

  410. Jesus shows us

  411. that not through

  412. right theology

  413. that is the way

  414. that we enter

  415. the kingdom of heaven.

  416. But secondly,

  417. he shows us

  418. that it is not

  419. through right works.

  420. And I think

  421. this is the part

  422. of these three verses

  423. that are equally troubling

  424. or more troubling

  425. than those first words

  426. because Jesus says this

  427. in verse 22.

  428. On that day,

  429. many will say to me,

  430. Lord, Lord,

  431. did we not

  432. prophesy

  433. in your name

  434. and cast out demons

  435. in your name

  436. and do many mighty works

  437. in your name.

  438. And you see this clause

  439. in your name.

  440. In your name.

  441. It comes up three times.

  442. And I think

  443. that is terrifying.

  444. That what Jesus

  445. is communicating

  446. is that there are

  447. actually people

  448. who are laboring

  449. in his name

  450. and don't know him.

  451. That there are

  452. actually people

  453. who are serving him

  454. and don't know him.

  455. that if Jesus

  456. were telling

  457. this story

  458. in light of

  459. our day and age

  460. and in light of

  461. our culture

  462. in specific terms,

  463. that he wouldn't say

  464. did we not

  465. cast out demons

  466. in your name

  467. because we don't do that

  468. in the Presbyterian church.

  469. If you're in a Presbyterian church

  470. that does that,

  471. run.

  472. So,

  473. but what he might say

  474. and the way

  475. that he might

  476. word this

  477. is that

  478. did we not

  479. preach the word

  480. of God

  481. faithfully

  482. in your name?

  483. Did we not

  484. worship you

  485. faithfully

  486. in your name?

  487. Did we not

  488. serve your church

  489. in your name?

  490. Did we not

  491. give to the work

  492. of your church?

  493. Did we not

  494. give our tithes

  495. and offerings?

  496. Did we not

  497. baptize our children

  498. in your name?

  499. Did we not

  500. love our spouse

  501. in your name?

  502. Did we not

  503. do all those things

  504. because we loved you?

  505. And that is troubling

  506. to see

  507. that Jesus would say,

  508. I don't

  509. know you.

  510. I don't

  511. know you.

  512. that even

  513. as a minister

  514. of the gospel

  515. that I have

  516. many times

  517. where I

  518. question

  519. what in the

  520. world am I

  521. doing?

  522. That God,

  523. why in the

  524. world would

  525. I do

  526. RUF

  527. and have

  528. to raise

  529. support

  530. and

  531. labor

  532. for the

  533. good news

  534. and the

  535. kingdom

  536. on the

  537. campus

  538. of Alabama

  539. A&M?

  540. and

  541. I think

  542. it's a foolish

  543. way to live

  544. if I'm

  545. humanly speaking

  546. that if I

  547. would say

  548. to God

  549. was I

  550. not

  551. was I

  552. not

  553. doing

  554. all that

  555. for you

  556. and to

  557. think

  558. that on

  559. the last

  560. day

  561. Jesus

  562. will look

  563. at me

  564. and say

  565. I never

  566. knew

  567. you

  568. that that

  569. is

  570. terrifying

  571. that what

  572. God is

  573. asking

  574. all of

  575. us

  576. is that

  577. are you

  578. sure it

  579. is God

  580. you are

  581. serving?

  582. Are you

  583. sure that

  584. you are

  585. resting in

  586. Christ

  587. and not

  588. in all

  589. the stuff

  590. that you

  591. are doing

  592. for God?

  593. Are you

  594. sure

  595. that Jesus

  596. wants to

  597. show us

  598. over and

  599. over again

  600. that he

  601. alone

  602. saves?

  603. I had a

  604. friend in

  605. seminary who

  606. went on to

  607. be a church

  608. planner who

  609. in the

  610. middle of

  611. our preaching

  612. class he

  613. became a

  614. Christian he

  615. was converted

  616. in the middle

  617. of our

  618. preaching

  619. class and

  620. for the

  621. kids who

  622. are here

  623. and think

  624. it's tough

  625. to sit

  626. through one

  627. sermon

  628. just imagine

  629. being in

  630. seminary and

  631. listening to

  632. five sermons

  633. in a row

  634. and that'll

  635. give you

  636. some

  637. perspective

  638. on just

  639. long

  640. suffering

  641. but this

  642. friend

  643. was

  644. you know

  645. if you

  646. had asked

  647. me if

  648. there was

  649. anybody

  650. who knew

  651. God and

  652. was faithful

  653. and was

  654. a Christian

  655. I would

  656. definitely

  657. have said

  658. before that

  659. moment that

  660. guy is

  661. definitely a

  662. Christian

  663. that guy

  664. definitely

  665. gets what

  666. it means

  667. to walk

  668. after God

  669. and here

  670. he was

  671. in the middle

  672. of this

  673. preaching

  674. class he's

  675. standing

  676. before us

  677. and he

  678. makes this

  679. confession

  680. hey I

  681. don't know

  682. if I'm

  683. really a

  684. Christian

  685. in the

  686. middle of

  687. seminary

  688. and today

  689. I want

  690. to accept

  691. Jesus as

  692. Lord of

  693. my life

  694. I want

  695. to submit

  696. myself to

  697. him

  698. and his

  699. reasons for

  700. not coming

  701. to Christ

  702. earlier

  703. was that

  704. he had

  705. already been

  706. in youth

  707. ministry

  708. he had

  709. already been

  710. involved in

  711. the ministry

  712. of the church

  713. and he

  714. had heard

  715. the gospel

  716. preached at

  717. a youth

  718. conference

  719. and was

  720. deeply moved

  721. to confess

  722. his sin

  723. and turn

  724. to God

  725. and yet

  726. out of

  727. shame

  728. he didn't

  729. because

  730. who wants

  731. to be

  732. the youth

  733. minister

  734. who goes

  735. to a

  736. conference

  737. and gets

  738. converted

  739. and he

  740. shared that

  741. with us

  742. that he

  743. needed

  744. Jesus

  745. and he

  746. trusted

  747. Jesus

  748. and I

  749. think it

  750. is better

  751. that he

  752. stood

  753. before us

  754. that day

  755. some years

  756. ago

  757. and confessed

  758. Christ as

  759. Lord

  760. than for

  761. him

  762. to wait

  763. at the

  764. last day

  765. and have

  766. Jesus say

  767. to him

  768. I never

  769. knew you

  770. depart from

  771. me you

  772. worker of

  773. lawlessness

  774. that what

  775. God wants

  776. you and

  777. me to

  778. do

  779. is to

  780. consider

  781. our hearts

  782. consider

  783. what it

  784. is

  785. we think

  786. makes us

  787. right with

  788. God

  789. and if it

  790. is anything

  791. other than

  792. Jesus

  793. himself

  794. then it

  795. will fail

  796. us at

  797. the last

  798. day

  799. and that's

  800. where Jesus

  801. takes us

  802. finally

  803. in these

  804. three verses

  805. that

  806. in verse

  807. 21

  808. he says

  809. to us

  810. and not

  811. everyone

  812. who says

  813. to me

  814. Lord

  815. Lord

  816. will enter

  817. the kingdom

  818. of heaven

  819. but the

  820. one who

  821. does the

  822. will of

  823. my father

  824. who is

  825. in heaven

  826. and

  827. that last

  828. clause

  829. where he

  830. says but

  831. the one

  832. who does

  833. the will

  834. of my

  835. father in

  836. heaven

  837. we've

  838. just seen

  839. that it's

  840. not a

  841. matter of

  842. just doing

  843. the right

  844. things before

  845. God

  846. and so

  847. it must

  848. mean something

  849. else

  850. and in a

  851. passage that

  852. I think is

  853. strikingly

  854. similar to

  855. this passage

  856. is John

  857. 6 you can

  858. turn there

  859. if you want

  860. to but if

  861. not I'll

  862. read it

  863. for you

  864. but in

  865. John 6

  866. Jesus is

  867. again

  868. teaching his

  869. disciples what

  870. it means to

  871. follow him

  872. what it means

  873. to trust him

  874. and the

  875. reality of

  876. it being a

  877. very hard

  878. thing

  879. the reality

  880. of it being

  881. that kingdom

  882. life is

  883. hard

  884. and in

  885. John 6

  886. in verse

  887. verses 28

  888. and 29

  889. his disciples

  890. ask him

  891. this question

  892. what must

  893. we do

  894. to be doing

  895. the works

  896. of God

  897. what must

  898. we do to

  899. be doing

  900. the works

  901. of God

  902. and this

  903. is the way

  904. Jesus responds

  905. to them

  906. in verse 29

  907. Jesus answered

  908. them

  909. this is the

  910. work of God

  911. that you

  912. believe in

  913. him

  914. whom he

  915. has sent

  916. this is

  917. the work

  918. of God

  919. that you

  920. and I

  921. believe

  922. in him

  923. whom he

  924. has sent

  925. that God

  926. has set

  927. his seal

  928. upon his

  929. son

  930. Jesus

  931. that God's

  932. will for

  933. your life

  934. and my

  935. life

  936. is that

  937. we would

  938. believe

  939. and rest

  940. in the

  941. person

  942. and work

  943. of Jesus

  944. that you

  945. and I

  946. would know

  947. that

  948. the good

  949. news

  950. is really

  951. good

  952. that Jesus

  953. really

  954. paid for

  955. our sin

  956. that Jesus

  957. really

  958. makes us

  959. righteous

  960. that Jesus

  961. is enough

  962. for us

  963. and what

  964. that does

  965. whenever the

  966. Bible talks

  967. about belief

  968. it is not

  969. just

  970. these cognitive

  971. things

  972. or these

  973. rational things

  974. but it always

  975. is wedded

  976. with

  977. action

  978. that what

  979. we think

  980. about God

  981. influences

  982. what we

  983. do

  984. what we

  985. think

  986. about

  987. Jesus

  988. influences

  989. all of

  990. our

  991. living

  992. and because

  993. you and

  994. I believe

  995. in Jesus

  996. then it

  997. should affect

  998. how we

  999. think about

  1000. him

  1001. that we

  1002. should study

  1003. God's word

  1004. more

  1005. that we

  1006. might think

  1007. rightly

  1008. about God

  1009. that our

  1010. theology

  1011. might be

  1012. good and

  1013. helpful and

  1014. true of

  1015. the way

  1016. God

  1017. declares

  1018. and shows

  1019. himself to

  1020. be

  1021. that our

  1022. actions

  1023. should be

  1024. influenced

  1025. by Christ

  1026. and what

  1027. he has

  1028. done for

  1029. us

  1030. and that's

  1031. a subtle

  1032. difference

  1033. but a

  1034. significant

  1035. one

  1036. in this

  1037. that you

  1038. know that

  1039. your right

  1040. theology

  1041. and your

  1042. works are

  1043. not the

  1044. things that

  1045. save you

  1046. but Jesus

  1047. himself is

  1048. the one

  1049. that saves

  1050. you

  1051. that he

  1052. is the

  1053. one who

  1054. has come

  1055. to us

  1056. and this

  1057. is all

  1058. by his

  1059. grace

  1060. not because

  1061. you and I

  1062. deserved it

  1063. but he

  1064. has come

  1065. to us

  1066. by his

  1067. grace

  1068. and given

  1069. us the

  1070. kingdom

  1071. and given

  1072. us everything

  1073. we need

  1074. to honor

  1075. him in

  1076. our thoughts

  1077. in our

  1078. words

  1079. in our

  1080. deeds

  1081. that God

  1082. has made

  1083. us daughters

  1084. and sons

  1085. that God

  1086. really loves

  1087. us

  1088. and he

  1089. has done

  1090. that through

  1091. Jesus

  1092. and Jesus

  1093. alone

  1094. and that's

  1095. what Jesus

  1096. is showing

  1097. us

  1098. that this

  1099. is how

  1100. you get

  1101. in

  1102. this

  1103. is how

  1104. you enter

  1105. my

  1106. kingdom

  1107. it is

  1108. through

  1109. me

  1110. it is

  1111. reason

  1112. why

  1113. heaven

  1114. won't be

  1115. just

  1116. Presbyterians

  1117. sorry if

  1118. that's

  1119. big news

  1120. to you

  1121. or shocking

  1122. news to

  1123. you

  1124. but it's

  1125. because

  1126. Jesus

  1127. really

  1128. saves

  1129. as we

  1130. wrap up

  1131. our sermon

  1132. I want

  1133. to close

  1134. with

  1135. this quote

  1136. from

  1137. Alec

  1138. Motier

  1139. and he

  1140. says

  1141. this

  1142. the grace

  1143. has made

  1144. them citizens

  1145. of a heavenly

  1146. city

  1147. in their

  1148. far off

  1149. land

  1150. they are

  1151. the heavenly

  1152. homeland

  1153. in miniature

  1154. heaven's laws

  1155. are their

  1156. laws

  1157. and their

  1158. privileges

  1159. its privileges

  1160. the life

  1161. worthy of the

  1162. gospel

  1163. is an

  1164. inescapable

  1165. obligation

  1166. it is the

  1167. essence

  1168. of the

  1169. homeland

  1170. where the

  1171. lamb

  1172. standing

  1173. as though

  1174. it had

  1175. been slain

  1176. forms the

  1177. focal point

  1178. of all

  1179. life

  1180. that the

  1181. work

  1182. the person

  1183. of Jesus

  1184. informs

  1185. all of our

  1186. lives

  1187. and that

  1188. is my

  1189. hope

  1190. that is

  1191. your

  1192. hope

  1193. that Jesus

  1194. gives us

  1195. these hard

  1196. words

  1197. that we

  1198. might again

  1199. come back

  1200. to him

  1201. and rest

  1202. in him

  1203. and trust

  1204. him

  1205. that the

  1206. work of

  1207. God is

  1208. that you

  1209. and I

  1210. believe

  1211. in Jesus

  1212. whom he

  1213. has sent

  1214. for us

  1215. let's pray

  1216. father we

  1217. we confess

  1218. the many

  1219. ways

  1220. that we

  1221. would love

  1222. to get

  1223. beyond

  1224. our need

  1225. for grace

  1226. our need

  1227. for Jesus

  1228. we

  1229. we

  1230. confess

  1231. that

  1232. many

  1233. times

  1234. we

  1235. we

  1236. don't

  1237. think

  1238. Jesus

  1239. is

  1240. enough

  1241. we

  1242. find

  1243. or we

  1244. think

  1245. that Jesus

  1246. is lacking

  1247. that our

  1248. salvation

  1249. is lacking

  1250. and we

  1251. we ask

  1252. that you

  1253. would forgive

  1254. us for

  1255. that

  1256. we ask

  1257. that you

  1258. would help

  1259. us

  1260. to treasure

  1261. our savior

  1262. to prize

  1263. him

  1264. highly

  1265. to love

  1266. him more

  1267. we thank

  1268. you

  1269. that you

  1270. speak to

  1271. us

  1272. through

  1273. your word

  1274. we thank

  1275. you

  1276. that you

  1277. continue

  1278. to

  1279. build us

  1280. up

  1281. and encourage

  1282. us

  1283. and make

  1284. us more

  1285. like him

  1286. and

  1287. we pray

  1288. that it

  1289. would never

  1290. be said

  1291. of us

  1292. at the

  1293. last day

  1294. that

  1295. Jesus

  1296. you don't

  1297. know us

  1298. we pray

  1299. that it

  1300. would be

  1301. said of

  1302. us

  1303. well

  1304. done

  1305. my good

  1306. and faithful

  1307. servant

  1308. we thank

  1309. you for

  1310. the joy

  1311. the peace

  1312. and the

  1313. hope of

  1314. the gospel

  1315. we thank

  1316. you for

  1317. the kingdom

  1318. we thank

  1319. you for

  1320. for

  1321. your loving

  1322. us

  1323. please

  1324. continue to

  1325. bless us

  1326. and keep

  1327. us

  1328. we pray

  1329. in Jesus

  1330. name

  1331. amen

  1332. amen

  1333. you

  1334. we favor

  1335. we honor

  1336. you

  1337. we

  1338. we

  1339. we

  1340. we

  1341. we

  1342. we

  1343. we

  1344. can

  1345. we

  1346. we

  1347. you

  1348. we

  1349. we

  1350. we

  1351. we

  1352. we

  1353. you

  1354. we

  1355. we
