  1. Jonah chapter 3, page 928, as we follow in our studies there, so we can look that up.

    Jonah 3 chapter mention

  2. So Jonah chapter 3, Jonah goes to Nineveh.

    Jonah 3 chapter mention

  3. Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.

  4. Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.

  5. Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.

  6. How Nineveh was a very important city.

  7. A visit required three days.

  8. On the first day, Jonah started into the city.

  9. He proclaimed, 40 more days and Nineveh will be overturned.

  10. The Ninevites believed God.

  11. They declared a fast and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.

  12. When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal rugs,

  13. covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.

  14. Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh.

  15. By the decree of the king and his nobles, do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything.

  16. Do not let them eat or drink.

  17. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth.

  18. Let everyone call urgently on God.

  19. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.

  20. Who knows?

  21. God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger, so that we will not perish.

  22. When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways,

  23. he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.

  24. Thank you.

  25. Thank you.

  26. Second Peter, Chapter 3, Verses 3 to 10.

    2 Peter 3:3–10

  27. 2 Peter 3, verses 3-10

    2 Peter 3:3–10

  28. First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

  29. They will say, where is this coming he promised?

  30. Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.

  31. But they deliberately forget that long ago, by God's word, the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.

  32. By these waters also, the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.

  33. By the same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

  34. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends.

  35. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

  36. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.

  37. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

  38. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.

  39. The heavens will disappear with a roar.

  40. The elements will be destroyed by fire.

  41. And the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

  42. Thanks, Harry, and thanks, Graham.

  43. Keep it open, please, a tune of three.

  44. That's the chapter we're going to be focusing on.

  45. We've been taking a chapter each Sunday.

  46. The first one we were looking at was Jonah running from grace.

  47. Then the second one was about submitting to grace.

  48. And then today we look at speaking of God's grace.

  49. So let's just pray and we'll ask for his help as we look at this together.

  50. Father, we ask that you would be generous to us by giving to us your Holy Spirit.

  51. that we may be generous.

  52. That we may understand the words that you have written and recorded for us.

  53. That we may be able to see how it applies to our lives.

  54. We ask that you would open up our minds to understand.

  55. that it would be a word that changes us

  56. and transforms us,

  57. giving us a greater appreciation

  58. and understanding of your grace

  59. so that we may be able to speak your grace

  60. to those around us.

  61. So please help us as we do this together.

  62. In Jesus' name, amen.

  63. Well, a very funny incident happened on BBC News 24

  64. not too long ago.

  65. A man by the name of Guy Goma

  66. arrived at the BBC offices

  67. to attend for an interview for a job.

  68. But present in the same building and unknown to him

  69. was another man with exactly the same name

  70. who was to be interviewed on BBC News

  71. about the computer company Apple.

  72. So the first Alan, who was there for the job interview,

  73. was left in this waiting area

  74. when the next thing he heard over the speaker system

  75. was his name being called.

  76. Well, you can guess what happened.

  77. He ended up in the news studio

  78. where he was mic'd up and all his makeup put on

  79. and there he sat on live TV

  80. being asked his views about some internal debate

  81. with the Apple computers,

  82. of which he knew absolutely nothing about.

  83. And the most amusing thing that happened

  84. was he actually tried to answer the questions

  85. when it was quite clear.

  86. He knew nothing about the subject.

  87. The point is, you've got to know your subject

  88. before you can speak about it.

  89. There's no use in bluffing.

  90. Well, Jonah was a prophet called by God

  91. to speak on his behalf to the people of Nineveh.

  92. His subject, God's grace in judgment,

  93. of which it seems Jonah knows nothing about.

  94. In chapter 1, verse 2,

  95. we're told that he was told to go and preach to Nineveh

  96. because of its wickedness.

  97. Verse 3, but Jonah ran away from the Lord.

  98. And we ask the question,

  99. well, why did Jonah run away?

  100. And the answer comes in chapter 4, verse 2,

  101. where he prays to the Lord,

  102. O Lord, is this not what I said

  103. when I was still at home?

  104. That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish.

  105. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God,

  106. slow to anger, abounding in love.

  107. I knew you are a God who relents from sending calamity.

  108. Jonah was quite happy to speak against the city.

  109. His problem was, he knew there was a good chance

  110. his God was going to forgive this city

  111. and not bring about his promised judgment.

  112. It seems that Jonah can't handle this God of grace

  113. because he himself hasn't come to understand grace.

  114. Before Jonah can speak about grace,

  115. he's got to learn it for himself.

  116. And that's what happened in chapter 2,

  117. where Jonah was swallowed up by the big fish.

  118. And inside the belly of the big fish,

  119. in the storm and all that happened,

  120. he learns and experiences God's intervening grace

  121. for himself.

  122. And in the midst of all of that darkness,

  123. he comes to grasp a little bit more.

  124. And in chapter 3, he continues to learn.

  125. Because in chapter 3, God continues to speak his grace.

  126. He speaks his grace to Jonah.

  127. He speaks his grace to Nineveh.

  128. And then surprisingly, God even speaks his grace to himself.

  129. So let's have a look at those in order.

  130. First, God speaks his grace to Jonah.

    Jonah 3:1

  131. Chapter 3, verse 1.

  132. Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.

  133. Go to that great city of Nineveh

  134. and proclaim to it the message I give you.

  135. Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord

  136. and went to Nineveh.

  137. Now these first few verses are almost identical

  138. to the opening verses of chapter 1.

  139. Except for there's one difference.

  140. This time Jonah did not disobey.

  141. But he obeyed.

  142. Literally, in chapter 1, verse 3, it says,

  143. Jonah arose and fled.

  144. And in chapter 3, verse 3, it says,

  145. Jonah arose and went.

  146. So what caused this change in Jonah's heart?

  147. Was he afraid that God was going to send another big fish?

  148. Maybe a flying fish this time and swallow him up?

  149. Well, I'm quite sure he didn't want to go back inside the belly of the fish again.

  150. But I think his motivation to obey was because of God's grace in his life.

  151. Look at verse 1 again of chapter 3.

  152. It says,

  153. The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.

  154. God is giving Jonah a fresh start and a new beginning.

  155. God had every right to reject Jonah.

  156. But he doesn't give up on his people.

  157. He perseveres with us.

  158. He's patient and he's long-suffering.

  159. It would have been so easy to give up on Jonah and go off and try and get another prophet and say,

  160. Well, no, sorry Jonah.

  161. I've employed somebody else.

  162. If you can't be bothered with me, then I can't be bothered with you.

  163. But we're introduced to a God who is a God of second chances.

  164. He perseveres.

  165. He doesn't give up.

  166. Now what's our experience or what's our response when we experience God's grace in our life?

  167. Well, the response should be one of obedience, just like it was for Jonah.

  168. In fact, this is what God demands of us.

  169. He doesn't persevere with us so that we can go off and just disobey and live however we want to.

  170. No, God shows his grace in our lives so that we will obey him, so that we will follow him.

  171. I remember learning something of grace from my father.

  172. In his kindness as a younger person, he allowed me to drive his car to go where I wanted to when he wasn't using it.

  173. Recklessly, however, I managed to crash his car.

  174. But rather than come and say to me, you're never going to drive this car again, which is what I deserve,

  175. he gave the car back to me and said, you can use it again.

  176. He never said these words, but this act of grace demanded of me that I drive responsibly, not recklessly.

  177. Although no words were said, my father's forgiveness demanded a certain kind of behaviour from me.

  178. Now Jonah wrote his life off.

  179. But God showed forgiveness so that Jonah would go and obey and do what he called him to do.

  180. And this is the kind of God that we have.

  181. This is the God who deals with us.

  182. He is persevering.

  183. He doesn't give up on us.

  184. He is the God of second chances.

  185. And if we stop and reflect, he is the God of third chances and fourth chances and however many more chances.

  186. He gives us a new beginning.

  187. He gives us a fresh start so that we will learn to obey him and do what he calls us to do.

  188. So God speaks grace into Jonah's life.

  189. But he also speaks grace into Nineveh's life.

  190. The message that Jonah was to speak has not changed.

  191. Verse 2, he says, go to that great city of Nineveh and proclaim the message I give you.

  192. Now that wasn't going to be easy for Jonah.

  193. Nineveh was one of the cities of the great Assyrian Empire.

  194. It was the superpower of the day.

  195. All the surrounding nations lived in fear of Assyria.

  196. They lived in fear of its king and they did whatever the king asked.

  197. So to go and tell this city that God is going to judge you, well that is going to be hard.

  198. But yet Jonah, motivated by grace, goes and preaches.

  199. And this is what he says, verse 4.

  200. On the first day Jonah started into the city and he proclaimed, just simply summed up,

  201. 40 more days and Nineveh will be overturned.

  202. Well you say, where is the grace in that?

  203. It sounds a bit severe.

  204. Well God didn't have to give any warning to Nineveh.

  205. Its wickedness was very evident to all.

  206. But yet God in his grace says, 40 more days.

  207. It's as if God is saying to them, can't you see Nineveh?

  208. You deserve to be wiped out.

  209. But I don't want to destroy you.

  210. I want to save you.

  211. I want to rescue from the judgment that you deserve.

  212. Rather than overturn you, I am persisting with you that you turn to me.

  213. 40 more days.

  214. And it had a profound impact upon the people because turning is exactly what happens.

  215. They repent, verse 5.

  216. The Ninevites believed God.

  217. They declared a fast and all of them from the greatest to the least put on sackcloth.

  218. Now fasting and sackcloth, putting that on, was this outward expression,

  219. a very visible demonstration of an inward reality that they had repented and had turned to God.

  220. In fact we're told their repentance was genuine.

  221. Look at verse 10.

  222. Because we're told there that when God saw what they did and how they had turned from their evil ways.

  223. You see, a sign of repentance isn't just words.

  224. It's a change of action in our life.

  225. A completely 180 degree turn of doing opposite to what we were doing.

  226. And repentance is what God demands of all people.

  227. Whatever nation we belong to and whatever social class we belong to.

  228. Verse 5, look at it again.

  229. It says, from the greatest to the least put on sackcloth.

  230. It even applies to the king.

  231. Verse 6, when news reached the king of Nineveh,

  232. he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes,

  233. covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.

  234. You see, God in his persistence of showing grace to his people,

  235. he demands that people repent.

  236. And it's what he demands of each one of us and of our nation

  237. and whatever social class we come from.

  238. Nobody is off limits.

  239. He calls everybody to repent,

  240. to put their life in order,

  241. to change things around

  242. and to turn back to God.

  243. The story is told of a very patient king who was ruler of a very large city.

  244. And he was wondering where he could station his large army of troops.

  245. And after much thought, he decided to locate them,

  246. not in the city,

  247. but a day's march from the city.

  248. So that on occasion of civil disobedience,

  249. it would take time for the troops to march in and restore order.

  250. In the interim, the rebels would have opportunity to come to their senses

  251. and back down.

  252. Nineveh, in God's grace,

  253. was given 40 days

  254. to change her way.

  255. I wonder, how much more grace

  256. are we being shown today?

  257. Well, keep your finger in Jonah chapter 3

    Jonah 3 chapter mention

  258. and flick over to Matthew's Gospel,

  259. chapter 12.

  260. Because in Matthew 12,

  261. in verse 40,

  262. Jesus actually uses the story of Jonah.

  263. He uses the story of how the people of Nineveh repented

  264. to teach us something.

  265. Matthew 12, verse 40,

    Matthew 12:40

  266. it says,

  267. For as Jonah was three days and three nights

  268. in the belly of a huge fish,

  269. so the Son of Man,

  270. that's speaking of Jesus,

  271. will be three days and three nights

  272. in the heart of the earth.

  273. Now in this verse,

  274. Jesus is referring to his resurrection,

  275. that he's going to die,

  276. that he's going to be buried for three days.

  277. He's going to rise again.

  278. And after his resurrection,

  279. is going to come the final judgment

  280. that will follow at the end of time.

  281. Whenever you see the phrase,

  282. Son of Man,

  283. it's always talking about the coming ruler.

  284. So in verse 41,

  285. it says,

  286. At the judgment,

  287. the men of Nineveh

  288. will stand up at the judgment

  289. with this generation

  290. and condemn it.

  291. For they repented

  292. at the preaching of Jonah.

  293. And now one greater

  294. than Jonah is here.

  295. It's as if Jesus is saying,

  296. look,

  297. if the people of Nineveh repented

  298. after hearing this little prophet Jonah preach,

  299. and they were given only 40 days

  300. to turn their lives around,

  301. but they did it within 40 days,

  302. and they did it through Jonah's preaching,

  303. how much more should we repent

  304. when we have one who is greater,

  305. the Lord Jesus?

  306. God,

  307. who came as a man

  308. into the world,

  309. the one who died for us,

  310. and who is still,

  311. not just 40 days later,

  312. but 2,000 years later,

  313. is delaying his return,

  314. is delaying his judgment,

  315. so that we will turn to him.

  316. Every day that passes by

  317. is another day of grace.

  318. Every day that Christ does not return

  319. is another opportunity

  320. for people to repent.

  321. If people could do it with Jonah

  322. after 40 days,

  323. how much more should we repent

  324. when we have Jesus,

  325. who has delayed it for 2,000 years?

  326. This is the kind of God that we have.

  327. He is persisting.

  328. He's not wanting anyone

  329. to be overturned.

  330. He is the God who longs

  331. for people to turn back to him.

  332. He gives opportunity,

  333. delaying his judgment,

  334. so that people will repent,

  335. change their ways,

  336. and be able to live.

  337. So God speaks grace to Jonah.

  338. He speaks grace to the city of Nineveh.

  339. And then surprisingly,

  340. and I,

  341. if you want to come back to me

  342. on this one,

  343. I hope I've got it right,

  344. that God even speaks grace

  345. to himself.

  346. We should not underestimate

  347. what a wicked city Nineveh was.

  348. We're told that in chapter 1, verse 2.

  349. Its wickedness had come up before God.

  350. In fact, history records

  351. just how brutal

  352. an empire they were.

  353. History tells us

  354. that when the Assyrian king

  355. captured another city,

  356. they would mutilate

  357. all the men.

  358. They would cut off their hands,

  359. they would cut out their tongues,

  360. and they would gouge out their eyes.

  361. And then they would be left

  362. in a great big pile

  363. to die a very slow,

  364. painful death

  365. in the sun.

  366. They were brutal.

  367. The women and children,

  368. well, they would be burned alive.

  369. And anything of value

  370. would be taken.

  371. This is the kind of nation

  372. that they were.

  373. So when God threatens

  374. to overturn

  375. or destroy the city

  376. in four days,

  377. you would hardly say

  378. it's without reason,

  379. because they were a violent

  380. and evil race.

  381. But here we're told

  382. the king takes Jonah's message

  383. seriously, verse 8.

  384. He gives this message

  385. to all the nation

  386. in verse 8.

  387. Let everyone

  388. call urgently on God.

  389. Let them give up

  390. their evil ways

  391. and their violence.

  392. Who knows?

  393. God may yet relent

  394. and with compassion

  395. turn from his fierce anger

  396. so that we will not perish.

  397. They deserve

  398. not even one day's grace,

  399. let alone 40 days' grace.

  400. In fact,

  401. they know they deserve

  402. to be wiped off

  403. the face of the earth.

  404. But knowing what they deserve,

  405. they repent

  406. and they throw themselves

  407. on God

  408. in the hope

  409. that God might not do

  410. what he said he would do.

  411. Verse 9.

  412. Who knows?

  413. If we turn back to him,

  414. if we change our life around,

  415. who knows God?

  416. God might relent.

  417. He might have compassion

  418. so that we will not perish.

  419. You see,

  420. God's justice demands

  421. that he deals

  422. with all wickedness.

  423. He can't pretend

  424. it's not there

  425. and look the other way.

  426. Sin must be dealt with.

  427. It cannot be tolerated.

  428. But look at verse 10.

  429. When God saw

  430. what they did

  431. and how they turned

  432. from their evil ways,

  433. he had compassion

  434. and he did not bring upon them

  435. the destruction

  436. that he had threatened.

  437. sins.

  438. It's quite an incredible verse.

  439. Literally,

  440. it's saying

  441. that God

  442. repented.

  443. Not that the threat

  444. of his judgment

  445. was wrong

  446. or that his response

  447. to their sin

  448. was over their top.

  449. No, it means

  450. that he turned

  451. back on his decision

  452. and instead

  453. of judgment,

  454. he had compassion.

  455. because when God

  456. sees people

  457. turn to him,

  458. his character

  459. demands

  460. that he has

  461. compassion.

  462. It's as if God

  463. is having this

  464. sort of conversation

  465. with himself.

  466. On the one hand,

  467. he sees the wickedness

  468. and he says,

  469. it's got to be dealt with.

  470. But then,

  471. on the other hand,

  472. he's saying,

  473. but they've turned.

  474. I've got to show

  475. compassion.

  476. And God

  477. speaks grace

  478. to himself

  479. to show

  480. that he's got

  481. to relent

  482. from sending

  483. the destruction

  484. that the people

  485. deserve.

  486. Of course,

  487. we might not be

  488. as barbaric

  489. as the Ninevites.

  490. Now,

  491. we've become

  492. much more

  493. sophisticated

  494. and intellectual

  495. for that,

  496. but we are

  497. no less

  498. evil

  499. or wicked.

  500. We might not

  501. mutilate people

  502. in war,

  503. but abortions

  504. are carried out

  505. at a rate

  506. of 180,000

  507. a year

  508. in Britain,

  509. many of whom

  510. are travelling

  511. from Ireland.

  512. One doctor

  513. has even suggested

  514. that there should

  515. also be a choice

  516. to kill a disabled

  517. child after birth.

  518. And we are

  519. an increasingly

  520. violent nation.

  521. Listen to your news,

  522. read the paper.

  523. Murders by drug gangs

  524. or an out-of-control

  525. husband or wife

  526. is a regular item

  527. on the news

  528. just as much

  529. as the sports results.

  530. every day

  531. we hear

  532. of violent crime

  533. as yet another

  534. innocent victim

  535. is beaten up

  536. and jumped on

  537. until their head

  538. turns to pulp.

  539. And we mightn't

  540. burn our children

  541. and our women,

  542. but as the recent

  543. primetime

  544. investigate showed,

  545. in a period

  546. of 30 days,

  547. over 1,000 people

  548. in Ireland

  549. were downloading

  550. and sharing

  551. explicit

  552. and violent

  553. child porn.

  554. And they are the ones

  555. that they can manage

  556. to track.

  557. In one day,

  558. last November,

  559. 368 women,

  560. 291 children,

  561. one day,

  562. receive children

  563. and women

  564. receive support

  565. because of

  566. domestic violence,

  567. many of whom

  568. are going to end up

  569. in long-term care.

  570. And then there's

  571. our desire

  572. for the latest

  573. mobile and fashion

  574. accessories,

  575. which comes to us

  576. at affordable prices

  577. because children

  578. or women

  579. are stuck down

  580. mines,

  581. digging out

  582. coltons,

  583. while others

  584. are dying

  585. in the sweatshops

  586. of China.

  587. What does God

  588. see as he looks

  589. down on our

  590. so-called

  591. Christian

  592. nation?

  593. What does he see

  594. when he examines

  595. our own lives?

  596. When he looks

  597. into the privacy

  598. of our own

  599. homes?

  600. What does he see?

  601. The truth is,

  602. we are no different.

  603. The message

  604. that Jonah preached

  605. also applies

  606. to us.

  607. God's

  608. promised

  609. judgment

  610. is coming.

  611. God's

  612. God's

  613. just

  614. and fair

  615. response

  616. to the evil

  617. and the violence

  618. that he sees.

  619. It's amazing

  620. that God

  621. has not yet

  622. returned

  623. and put an end

  624. to the suffering

  625. that goes on

  626. in our lives.

  627. What's our response?

  628. God's

  629. love?

  630. Well, it should

  631. be no different

  632. to that of the

  633. king,

  634. verse 8.

  635. Let everyone

  636. call urgently

  637. on God.

  638. Let them

  639. give up their

  640. evil ways

  641. and their violence.

  642. Who knows?

  643. God may yet

  644. relent.

  645. God may

  646. be no different

  647. reality

  648. is,

  649. one day

  650. we will all

  651. have to deal

  652. with God.

  653. The whole

  654. nation of

  655. Ireland is

  656. going to have

  657. to stand

  658. before God.

  659. What will

  660. that be

  661. like?

  662. Well,

  663. as we

  664. close,

  665. turn over to

  666. Revelation

  667. please,

  668. chapter 19.

  669. Here we

  670. are given

  671. a picture.

  672. We are

  673. given a

  674. vision from

  675. the risen

  676. Lord Jesus

  677. through the

  678. words of

  679. John of

  680. what that

  681. day is

  682. going to

  683. be like.

  684. Yes,

  685. there's lots

  686. of imagery

  687. here,

  688. but I

  689. think it

  690. presents a

  691. picture of

  692. just how

  693. serious

  694. Christ's

  695. coming

  696. will be.

  697. Chapter 19

  698. verse 11.

  699. I saw

  700. heaven

  701. standing

  702. open,

  703. and there

  704. before me

  705. was a

  706. white horse

  707. whose rider

  708. is called

  709. Faithful

  710. and True.

  711. With

  712. justice he

  713. judges and

  714. makes war.

  715. His eyes

  716. are like

  717. blazing

  718. fire,

  719. and on

  720. his head

  721. are many

  722. crowns,

  723. he has

  724. a name

  725. written on

  726. him that

  727. no one

  728. knows but

  729. he himself.

  730. He is

  731. dressed in

  732. a robe

  733. dipped in

  734. blood,

  735. and his

  736. name is

  737. the word

  738. of God.

  739. The

  740. armies of

  741. heaven were

  742. following him,

  743. riding on

  744. white horses

  745. and dressed

  746. in fine

  747. linen,

  748. white and

  749. clean.

  750. Out of

  751. his mouth

  752. comes a

  753. sharp sword

  754. with which

  755. to strike

  756. down the

  757. nation.

  758. king of

  759. kings.

  760. He will

  761. rule them

  762. with an

  763. iron

  764. scepter.

  765. He

  766. treads the

  767. winepress of

  768. the fury of

  769. the wrath of

  770. God Almighty.

  771. name written,

  772. king of kings

  773. and lord of

  774. lords.

  775. One day we

  776. will have to

  777. face him.

  778. One day the

  779. island of

  780. Ireland will

  781. face him,

  782. the people of

  783. King Thales

  784. will face him.

  785. But in his

  786. grace he is

  787. given warning

  788. of his coming

  789. judgment,

  790. life.

  791. That we

  792. should repent

  793. and if we

  794. do,

  795. who knows?

  796. God may

  797. yet relent.

  798. That he

  799. would have

  800. compassion,

  801. that he

  802. would bring

  803. forgiveness

  804. so that

  805. people would

  806. change their

  807. ways and

  808. live and

  809. know the

  810. joy of

  811. eternal life

  812. and the

  813. blessing of

  814. obeying and

  815. walking with

  816. God.

  817. grace.

  818. Before we

  819. can speak of

  820. grace, we

  821. need to learn

  822. of God's

  823. grace and

  824. experience it

  825. deeply in

  826. our own

  827. lives.

  828. Let's pray

  829. together.

  830. Amen.

  831. Father, sometimes we struggle

  832. with the fact that your words speak so much of a God who is one day going to come and judge.

  833. We don't like to think of a God who will judge.

  834. But yet when we look at the state of our nation,

  835. when we see the suffering and pain in our world,

  836. when we examine our own lives,

  837. we are amazed that you have not yet come already.

  838. Father, help us to take seriously your warning.

  839. Help us to take seriously your amazing grace,

  840. that you would give us chances, that you would give us opportunity.

  841. We pray that we would learn your grace more and more,

  842. speak your grace into our lives.

  843. If we come today and we're feeling we need that chance yet again,

  844. Lord, be gracious and give us that second chance.

  845. Give us that chance to turn,

  846. to obey, to follow you,

  847. to live out your grace in our own lives,

  848. so that people will know you and follow you.

  849. Please be at work by your Holy Spirit, we pray.

  850. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  851. We're going to take a spin together.

  852. We're going to spin together.

  853. We're going to spin together.
