  1. Present series in Romans. We're going to pick it up again after Christmas from Romans 5.

  2. But we've basically gone through from chapter 1 and we're going to finish the end of chapter 4 this morning.

  3. If you want to know what we have been doing, there is a sheet at the back by the door which has an outline of Romans 1 to 8.

  4. And it'll give you the big picture or the main pointers the whole way through.

  5. So you can have a look there.

  6. Then next Sunday, as I said, Keith Wilson will be preaching.

  7. And then following that, we start a new series of four talks.

  8. And the title we are giving that is Pure.

  9. So we're going to be looking at issues like marriage, singleness, living in an age of purity.

  10. And the other one then is on homosexuality.

  11. So the title is Pure.

  12. I'm looking at each of those subjects.

  13. And they will be followed up by evening discussions or question time.

  14. So we'll have the talk in the morning.

  15. And then on Sunday evening, you will be invited, if you wanted, to join in just further discussion and question based on those talks.

  16. As I'm sure there will be lots of questions.

  17. Well, Romans 4 is where we are this morning.

  18. And we're going to read from verse 13 to 25.

  19. And it's on page 1131.

  20. Romans chapter 4, verses 13 to 25.

    Romans 4:13–25

  21. It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

  22. For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless, because law brings wrath.

  23. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.

  24. Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham.

  25. He is the father of us all.

  26. As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations.

  27. He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

  28. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed, and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, so shall your offspring be.

  29. Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead, since he was about a hundred years old, and that Sarah's womb, his wife, was also dead.

  30. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

  31. That is why it was credited to him as righteousness.

  32. The words it was credited to him were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness, for us who believe in him, who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

  33. He was delivered over to death for our sins, and was raised to life for our justification.

  34. Well, let's pray as we look at that passage together.

  35. Our Father God, we thank you for all that we have.

  36. From what we have heard and seen this morning, we recognize there are so many people, so many children in this world,

  37. who do not have the basic necessities of life.

  38. But we thank you, Father, that we have things available to us.

  39. We have food and water and homes.

  40. And not least, we also have your word in our language, that we can understand and read for ourselves.

  41. But yet, you have also promised that you would pour out your Holy Spirit to those who will ask.

  42. And we ask that you would pour out your Spirit upon us, so that what we hear may change our lives.

  43. That it would also help us to see how your word affects the world in which we live,

  44. and the attitude that we should have on the world.

  45. And how we should look forward to your eternal kingdom.

  46. So, Lord, please help us.

  47. And be with us as we look at your word together.

  48. In Jesus' name.

  49. Amen.

  50. Amen.

  51. Would you describe yourself as a very confident person?

  52. Well, let's do a little test.

  53. On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you that Liverpool are going to qualify for the Champions League?

  54. Not too long ago, they were the defending champions.

  55. But now, in the space of a few months, things are very unsure for the club.

  56. On a more serious note, how confident are you that you are going to be living and working in Carigoline in the next 10 years?

  57. A few years ago, we may have been very confident.

  58. But with the recession, it makes things a little bit more uncertain.

  59. How confident are you that you are going to be in good health next year?

  60. Perhaps on the basis of how you feel today, you may be feeling very confident.

  61. But we never know what a certain test is going to show up.

  62. We all live in hope.

  63. But life never guarantees any of these things.

  64. So let me ask another question.

  65. How confident are you that when you die, and we can be very confident we will die,

  66. how confident are you that when you die, you will receive a rich welcome by God into his eternal paradise?

  67. How sure are you this morning that you are going to be part of heaven?

  68. That God is going to say, you can be part of my new creation?

  69. Well, I think that answer will depend on how you feel the last week or the last month has gone.

  70. If you've had a good week, you've been reading your Bible,

  71. you've managed to pray, you've made a few people happy,

  72. you've done a good deed for someone,

  73. then you may feel very assured that, yeah, God is going to welcome me.

  74. After all, I've sponsored a child for compassion.

  75. On the other hand, if you've had a bad week,

  76. and you can't even remember when the last time was you opened your Bible,

  77. maybe you've had a big bust-up with your spouse,

  78. you maybe even got a bit drunk at the weekend,

  79. then maybe you're feeling a little bit unsure,

  80. and you don't know if you're going to get to heaven.

  81. Or perhaps, like me, you wonder,

  82. what happens if I die in the middle of some sin?

  83. Do you ever think that?

  84. What if I die before I even had the opportunity to ask God to forgive me?

  85. Would he let me in then?

  86. Well, we all live in hope, don't we?

  87. But can we be 100% confident

  88. that we are going to receive a welcome into God's paradise?

  89. Well, the Bible's answer is a very, very confident yes.

  90. And it all starts with a promise that God has made.

  91. In fact, chapter 4 is all about a promise.

  92. And we're told what the promise is in verse 13.

  93. It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise.

  94. And what's the promise?

  95. Here it is.

  96. That he would be heir of the world.

  97. Now, if you are an heir, you are going to receive something.

  98. You inherit what has been promised to you.

  99. And you really can't get anything better than this, can you?

  100. The promise is to inherit the world.

  101. That's astounding, isn't it?

  102. That the world could be promised to one person.

  103. But what does it mean to inherit the world?

  104. Well, we need to go back in time to the beginning of the Bible story.

  105. You see, very often we talk about the gospel and salvation in narrow terms.

  106. We talk about Jesus dealing with our sins on the cross

  107. and restoring our relationship back to God.

  108. Now, as primary and as important as that is,

  109. it's only the beginning of the story.

  110. The gospel and salvation is much broader.

  111. It's about not just restoring our relationship to God,

  112. but it's about restoring and renewing the world.

  113. So, go back to the beginning of the Bible story.

  114. Go back to paradise in Genesis 1 and 2.

  115. And that paints a picture for us of what paradise would look like.

  116. In Genesis 1 and 2, we see that the world is perfect.

  117. It's in order.

  118. Everything works the way that it should do.

  119. People are living under God's loving and caring rule.

  120. They have everything that they need.

  121. All is provided for them.

  122. Adam and Eve are living in relationship with God.

  123. And they're living in relationship with each other.

  124. They know their roles and everything is good.

  125. And not only that, they're in harmony with the world.

  126. There's no death.

  127. There's no disease.

  128. There's no suffering.

  129. There's no violence.

  130. There's no need of any sponsorship program

  131. because everybody is provided with all that they need.

  132. The world is the way that it's meant to be.

  133. But then as we move on in Genesis,

  134. we come and we encounter a problem.

  135. Man and woman, Adam and Eve,

  136. they rebel against God.

  137. They reject his loving rule.

  138. And they replace God's authority

  139. with their own authority.

  140. And they say,

  141. we want to rule the world the way we want to.

  142. And what follows is what we might call

  143. a cosmic curse.

  144. People are cursed.

  145. And as a result,

  146. their relationship with God breaks.

  147. They have to leave paradise.

  148. They're shut out from God.

  149. And their relationships with each other begin to break.

  150. They begin to fight.

  151. In fact, the first two brothers that existed in the world,

  152. one of them killed the other.

  153. But it's not just people who are cursed.

  154. The world was also cursed.

  155. It became disjointed and twisted.

  156. The cogs that make everything go round the way it should be

  157. begin to jam up.

  158. And the brokenness and the pain that we see all around us today,

  159. whether it's earthquakes, famines, flooding, wars, violence,

  160. all of these are the results of the curse

  161. that came upon the world and the people.

  162. But then, and we need to turn to this,

  163. in Genesis 12, God intervenes.

  164. He had intervened once with Noah,

  165. but things went from bad to worse.

  166. And in Genesis 12,

  167. God speaks and he makes a promise.

  168. It's a promise to undo the curse

  169. and to bring blessing.

  170. So in Genesis chapter 12, verses 1 to 3,

    Genesis 12:1–3

  171. he comes to, well, he's called Abram here,

  172. later to be called Abraham.

  173. Genesis 12, verses 1 to 3,

    Genesis 12:1–3

  174. the Lord said to Abram,

  175. leave your country, your people,

  176. and your father's household,

  177. and go to the land I will show you.

  178. I will make you into a great nation,

  179. and I will bless you.

  180. I will make your name great,

  181. and you will be a blessing.

  182. I will bless those who bless you,

  183. and whoever curses you, I will curse.

  184. And all peoples,

  185. all peoples on the earth

  186. will be blessed through you.

  187. Now, the rest of the Bible's story,

  188. all the way from Genesis chapters 12,

    Genesis 12 chapter mention

  189. right the way through to the end of Revelation,

  190. is a working out of that promise.

  191. It's a promise to restore man's relationship to God,

  192. and the promise to renew the world.

  193. It's a promise, as we've been reading,

  194. to replace the curse with blessing.

  195. This promise that God made

  196. points forward to a new people.

  197. He said he would be the father of a great nation.

  198. This great nation,

  199. these people of God,

  200. who will live in God's paradise forever.

  201. You see, it's all about reversing

  202. everything that had gone wrong,

  203. and re-establishing

  204. the way the world should be.

  205. And that's what it means

  206. in Romans chapter 4, verse 13,

    Romans 4:13

  207. where God had made the promise to Abraham

  208. to inherit the world.

  209. He is saying to Abraham,

  210. you can be part of God's new world order.

  211. Be part of my paradise

  212. where people will live once again

  213. under his loving rule and care,

  214. just like they did

  215. at the very beginning of creation.

  216. No suffering, no pain,

  217. no wars and no violence.

  218. Everything will be the way

  219. that it was meant to be.

  220. Now tell me,

  221. could you get a better promise

  222. than that?

  223. I don't think we could.

  224. Well, you see,

  225. that all sounds great.

  226. A wonderful promise.

  227. A promise to inherit the world

  228. and to live in God's paradise.

  229. But who is this promise for?

  230. Well, look at verse 13 again.

  231. It was not through law

  232. that Abraham and his offspring

  233. received the promise.

  234. So, the promise was made

  235. to Abraham and his children.

  236. Well, you say,

  237. that's no good to me or to you

  238. because I doubt

  239. if there's anybody here

  240. who can trace their family line

  241. back to Abraham, is there?

  242. Don't think so.

  243. You see, it's not about

  244. having a physical connection.

  245. It's actually about

  246. having a spiritual connection

  247. with Abraham.

  248. And we'll see how that works out.

  249. Let's see how Abraham

  250. received the promise.

  251. Verse 13.

  252. At the beginning,

  253. it says it was not through law

  254. or not through performance

  255. that Abraham received the promise.

  256. End of verse 13.

  257. But through the righteousness

  258. that comes by faith.

  259. So, the promise wasn't received

  260. because of something Abraham did

  261. because he was one of the best people

  262. in the world.

  263. No, it was simply received by faith.

  264. Trusting that God would do

  265. what God said he would do.

  266. Verse 14.

  267. For if those who live by performance

  268. are heirs,

  269. faith has no value

  270. and the promise is worthless.

  271. You see,

  272. we've heard the promise this morning

  273. and I'm sure we all want the promise.

  274. But we think the only way

  275. to get the promise

  276. is to earn it.

  277. So our life becomes

  278. a big religious performance,

  279. a system of rules

  280. that we impose on ourselves

  281. and we impose on other people.

  282. And we say,

  283. well, if I'm a good person,

  284. if I read my Bible,

  285. if I go to church,

  286. if I do all kinds of good deeds,

  287. if I live a good moral life,

  288. if I do sponsor a child,

  289. then I deserve the promise.

  290. But performance

  291. will never give you the promise.

  292. Performance will just destroy you

  293. and break you.

  294. As verse 15 says,

  295. because law or performance

  296. brings wrath.

  297. We can never live up to its standard.

  298. We can never be good enough.

  299. It will only condemn us.

  300. So the point is simple.

  301. It's saying,

  302. we have to have faith like Abraham.

  303. And if we have faith like Abraham,

  304. we too can receive the promise.

  305. If we trust that God will do

  306. what he said he will do,

  307. we will also share in the inheritance.

  308. Verse 16.

  309. Therefore, the promise comes

  310. by faith.

  311. So if we want to have this promise,

  312. we have to be people of faith,

  313. but we also have to be people of grace.

  314. Look at the rest of verse 16.

  315. Therefore, the promise comes by faith

  316. so that it may be by grace.

  317. Now we often bandy that word around,

  318. don't we, grace?

  319. It's God's overwhelming generosity

  320. towards us.

  321. It's something that is unearned

  322. and undeserved.

  323. It's God's loving

  324. and faithful intervention

  325. in our lives.

  326. So the promise

  327. that comes from God

  328. is something that originates

  329. or is initiated by God

  330. from him to us.

  331. The promise is something

  332. that God does for us.

  333. It's something that he achieves for us.

  334. Therefore,

  335. we are people who are to rest

  336. in that grace.

  337. We don't try to earn it

  338. or to achieve it.

  339. It comes by grace

  340. so that it may be,

  341. verse 16, do you see,

  342. may be guaranteed

  343. to all Abraham's offspring.

  344. And who are his children?

  345. Who are those offspring?

  346. Not only to those

  347. who are of the law,

  348. in other words,

  349. those who are just Jews,

  350. but also to those

  351. who are of the faith

  352. of Abraham.

  353. He is the father of us all,

  354. as it is written,

  355. I have made you

  356. a father of many nations.

  357. So grace guarantees

  358. the promise to us

  359. because it's not dependent on us.

  360. It's dependent on God

  361. who makes the promise

  362. but who also keeps the promise

  363. and it can be our promise too

  364. if we have the faith

  365. and if we are resting

  366. in the grace

  367. that came to Abraham.

  368. Now let's think this through

  369. a little bit more.

  370. What if the promise

  371. depended

  372. on me or you?

  373. If it was all up to us?

  374. Well, it would fail,

  375. wouldn't it?

  376. We would never receive

  377. the promised inheritance.

  378. But amazingly,

  379. God not only makes

  380. the promise to us,

  381. but he is also the one

  382. who is going to keep

  383. the promise for us.

  384. Look at verse 17.

  385. Just one sentence in.

  386. It says,

  387. He is our father

  388. in the sight of God

  389. in whom he believed.

  390. The God who gives life

  391. to the dead

  392. and calls things

  393. that are not

  394. as though they were.

  395. Have you ever tried

  396. to give life

  397. to the dead?

  398. Have you ever told

  399. a corpse

  400. to stand up,

  401. instructed that corpse,

  402. stand up

  403. and go home?

  404. Well, you'd be probably

  405. locked up

  406. if you tried to do that.

  407. Jesus did it though,

  408. didn't he?

  409. He did it to a little girl.

  410. He did it to Lazarus.

  411. And it worked.

  412. They did stand up

  413. and they did go home.

  414. Have you ever tried

  415. to make something

  416. out of nothing?

  417. Things that are not

  418. as though they were.

  419. Commanded something

  420. into existence.

  421. Have you ever done that?

  422. Well, Jesus did

  423. when he created

  424. the world.

  425. He just spoke

  426. and the world

  427. came into existence.

  428. So it's telling us

  429. that Jesus can do

  430. what we could never do.

  431. He gives life

  432. to the dead

  433. and he creates

  434. out of nothing.

  435. And this same God

  436. will also do the same

  437. with the promise.

  438. He will achieve for us

  439. what we can never do

  440. and that is

  441. that he will keep

  442. the promise for us

  443. because we can't.

  444. And Abraham

  445. is our example here.

  446. Look at verse 18.

  447. Remember what God

  448. had promised to Abraham?

  449. He said he would be

  450. the father

  451. of a great nation.

  452. Verse 18.

  453. Against all hope,

  454. Abraham in hope

  455. believed

  456. and so became

  457. the father

  458. of many nations

  459. just as it had been

  460. said to him

  461. so shall your

  462. offspring be.

  463. Without weakening

  464. in his faith

  465. he faced the fact

  466. that his body

  467. was as good as dead

  468. since he was about

  469. a hundred years old

  470. and that Sarah's womb

  471. was also dead.

  472. Now Abraham and Sarah

  473. were well on in years.

  474. They were making plans

  475. for their retirement.

  476. Perhaps they were even

  477. checking out

  478. their local nursing homes.

  479. But whatever their future,

  480. children

  481. were not on their agenda.

  482. But God had come to them

  483. and he had made

  484. a promise to them.

  485. He said you would be

  486. a father of a great nation.

  487. Now when God made

  488. that promise

  489. to Abraham

  490. he didn't say to him

  491. right Abraham

  492. be the father

  493. of a great nation

  494. and good luck to you.

  495. See how you get on.

  496. And if you've got troubles

  497. well, you know

  498. just see what you can do.

  499. Check out the local

  500. fertility clinic.

  501. No, he didn't say

  502. any of those things.

  503. What God promised

  504. God would fulfill.

  505. He made the promise

  506. that you would be

  507. a father of a nation

  508. and he will also

  509. keep the promise.

  510. He does

  511. what we could never do.

  512. He literally gave life

  513. to a dead womb.

  514. And he literally

  515. created a nation

  516. out of nothing.

  517. God does the impossible.

  518. He makes the promise

  519. and he keeps the promise.

  520. And that's exactly

  521. what God will do for us.

  522. He will achieve for us

  523. what we can never do.

  524. And how are we

  525. to respond to it?

  526. Well exactly in the same way

  527. as Abraham did.

  528. Verse 20.

  529. Yet he did not waver

  530. through unbelief

  531. regarding the promise

  532. of God

  533. but was strengthened

  534. in his faith

  535. and gave glory to God

  536. being fully persuaded

  537. that God had the power

  538. to do

  539. what he had promised.

  540. So it's all about faith

  541. isn't it?

  542. It's trusting that God

  543. will do

  544. what he said he will do.

  545. It's not about trusting

  546. in what we can do.

  547. Abraham's faith

  548. was in God's faithfulness.

  549. And our faith

  550. is also to be

  551. in God's faithfulness

  552. to keep the promise.

  553. Suppose you receive

  554. a letter

  555. from a distant relative

  556. and in the letter

  557. you discover

  558. that the detail

  559. is all about a will

  560. and you stand

  561. to inherit

  562. their estate.

  563. it's quite a unique will

  564. because what you're

  565. going to inherit

  566. is an old

  567. 16th century castle.

  568. A marvelous building

  569. except for there's a problem

  570. it's been left to ruin.

  571. But alongside

  572. this promise

  573. comes a list

  574. of conditions

  575. that you are obliged

  576. to fulfill.

  577. if you want

  578. that 16th century castle

  579. you must first

  580. restore it

  581. to its original

  582. beauty

  583. and design.

  584. It's all yours.

  585. But first

  586. you're obliged

  587. to restore it

  588. to its original

  589. beauty.

  590. Now we know

  591. that's all impossible

  592. isn't it?

  593. Because we haven't got

  594. the financial resources

  595. to do anything

  596. to such a great

  597. big building

  598. nor the skills

  599. nor expertise.

  600. So in some ways

  601. the promise

  602. of the inheritance

  603. is absolutely useless

  604. because we could

  605. never fulfill

  606. the conditions.

  607. Well God

  608. has made a promise

  609. to us

  610. to inherit

  611. the world

  612. to live with him

  613. to reign with him

  614. to rule over

  615. the entire universe

  616. one day

  617. in God's

  618. eternal paradise.

  619. But we can't

  620. keep the conditions

  621. of perfect obedience

  622. and perfect loyalty.

  623. we break it

  624. every single day.

  625. And that's why

  626. God

  627. makes the promise

  628. and he says

  629. I'm also going

  630. to keep

  631. the promise

  632. for you

  633. because you can't.

  634. He keeps

  635. the promise

  636. for all those

  637. who will have faith

  638. that God will do

  639. what he said

  640. he will do.

  641. Now for those of you

  642. who know the story

  643. of Abraham

  644. you'll think

  645. in these verses

  646. here that he's

  647. painted in a very

  648. good light

  649. that he wavered

  650. he was unwavering

  651. in his belief.

  652. Now we know

  653. the story

  654. that he actually

  655. didn't believe

  656. fully

  657. completely

  658. that he would

  659. have a child

  660. he went off

  661. with somebody else

  662. and produced

  663. another child

  664. so was he

  665. keeping

  666. the promise?

  667. you see

  668. it's all

  669. dependent

  670. on God

  671. even when

  672. our faith

  673. isn't what

  674. it ought to be

  675. and maybe

  676. like me

  677. your faith

  678. fails

  679. perhaps you

  680. have times

  681. of doubt

  682. and you wonder

  683. I really don't

  684. think I'm a

  685. Christian

  686. or maybe

  687. because of

  688. some particular

  689. behaviour

  690. or habit

  691. or some

  692. sin

  693. you just think

  694. my faith

  695. is completely

  696. gone

  697. there's no

  698. way

  699. he's going

  700. to accept

  701. me into

  702. heaven

  703. well let's

  704. remember

  705. that our

  706. response of

  707. faith

  708. is not

  709. in the

  710. strength

  711. of our

  712. own faith

  713. it's not

  714. in our

  715. ability

  716. to keep

  717. our faith

  718. or in our

  719. determination

  720. or a

  721. perseverance

  722. to hold

  723. on to

  724. faith

  725. no

  726. our faith

  727. is in the

  728. perfect

  729. performance

  730. of Christ

  731. who keeps

  732. the conditions

  733. for us

  734. our faith

  735. is in the

  736. promise keeper

  737. if it relied

  738. on us

  739. and our

  740. good will

  741. and our

  742. good intention

  743. it would

  744. fail every

  745. time

  746. we can't

  747. keep it

  748. we can't

  749. do it

  750. but God

  751. says

  752. I will

  753. keep it

  754. for you

  755. verse 21

  756. being fully

  757. persuaded

  758. that God

  759. has the

  760. power to

  761. do

  762. what he

  763. had

  764. promised

  765. you see

  766. we cannot

  767. keep it

  768. it's only

  769. he can

  770. keep it

  771. but you

  772. say

  773. how could

  774. you be

  775. so sure

  776. can you

  777. really be

  778. so confident

  779. that God

  780. is going to

  781. keep us

  782. and make

  783. sure that

  784. we are

  785. part of

  786. his

  787. eternal

  788. kingdom

  789. if only

  790. you were

  791. able to

  792. see what

  793. I was up

  794. to this

  795. week

  796. if you

  797. saw my

  798. life

  799. what it

  800. was really

  801. like

  802. I'm

  803. claiming

  804. to be

  805. a

  806. Christian

  807. but the

  808. things

  809. I've

  810. said

  811. the

  812. things

  813. I've

  814. done

  815. boy

  816. you

  817. wouldn't

  818. want to

  819. see

  820. that

  821. how

  822. can we

  823. be so

  824. sure

  825. well we

  826. have been

  827. given

  828. proof

  829. look at

  830. the end

  831. of verse

  832. 25

  833. it tells

  834. us there

  835. that Jesus

  836. was delivered

  837. over to

  838. death

  839. for our

  840. sins

  841. and was

  842. raised to

  843. life

  844. for our

  845. justification

  846. remember

  847. God had

  848. made the

  849. promise to

  850. Abraham

  851. and to

  852. his

  853. offspring

  854. that they

  855. would inherit

  856. the world

  857. the problem

  858. was Abraham

  859. and Sarah

  860. had no

  861. children

  862. they had

  863. no

  864. offspring

  865. so God

  866. had to

  867. prove to

  868. them that

  869. he would

  870. do what

  871. he said

  872. he would

  873. do

  874. so he

  875. gave

  876. old Abraham

  877. and barren

  878. Sarah

  879. a son

  880. and their

  881. newborn

  882. their first

  883. born son

  884. Isaac

  885. was the

  886. proof

  887. that God

  888. was going

  889. to keep

  890. his promise

  891. now we

  892. have an

  893. even greater

  894. proof

  895. God has

  896. sent his

  897. son

  898. his only

  899. son

  900. Jesus

  901. Christ

  902. who is

  903. the ultimate

  904. proof

  905. that he

  906. is going

  907. to keep

  908. the promise

  909. for us

  910. do you

  911. see what

  912. it says

  913. at the

  914. end

  915. of

  916. in verse

  917. 25

  918. it says

  919. he was

  920. delivered

  921. over to

  922. death

  923. for our

  924. sins

  925. if you

  926. think that

  927. your sin

  928. is so

  929. great

  930. and so

  931. big

  932. that it

  933. keeps you

  934. out of

  935. heaven

  936. look back

  937. to the

  938. cross

  939. and remember

  940. that he

  941. was delivered

  942. over to

  943. death

  944. for our

  945. sin

  946. he took

  947. the death

  948. he took

  949. the penalty

  950. he took

  951. the blame

  952. for us

  953. so that it

  954. can never

  955. ever be

  956. held against

  957. us

  958. again

  959. it

  960. won't

  961. break

  962. the

  963. promise

  964. because

  965. Christ

  966. has

  967. died

  968. for

  969. our

  970. sin

  971. but

  972. not

  973. only

  974. did he

  975. die

  976. it

  977. says

  978. he

  979. was

  980. also

  981. raised

  982. to

  983. life

  984. for

  985. our

  986. justification

  987. to put

  988. us

  989. right

  990. so

  991. through

  992. the

  993. resurrection

  994. of

  995. Christ

  996. God

  997. has

  998. proved

  999. to

  1000. us

  1001. that

  1002. he

  1003. would

  1004. do

  1005. what

  1006. he

  1007. said

  1008. he

  1009. would

  1010. do

  1011. the

  1012. resurrection

  1013. is

  1014. God's

  1015. proof

  1016. that

  1017. Jesus

  1018. death

  1019. on the

  1020. cross

  1021. was

  1022. sufficient

  1023. and

  1024. complete

  1025. God

  1026. raised

  1027. Christ

  1028. from

  1029. the

  1030. dead

  1031. to

  1032. say

  1033. what

  1034. he

  1035. did

  1036. was

  1037. good

  1038. enough

  1039. it's

  1040. all

  1041. over

  1042. it's

  1043. complete

  1044. it's

  1045. finished

  1046. he's

  1047. raised

  1048. him

  1049. to

  1050. life

  1051. and

  1052. if

  1053. your

  1054. faith

  1055. is

  1056. in

  1057. him

  1058. you

  1059. too

  1060. will

  1061. be

  1062. raised

  1063. to

  1064. life

  1065. so

  1066. let

  1067. me

  1068. say

  1069. this

  1070. to

  1071. us

  1072. all

  1073. this

  1074. morning

  1075. if

  1076. you're

  1077. a

  1078. Christian

  1079. here

  1080. and

  1081. you're

  1082. struggling

  1083. and

  1084. you're

  1085. thinking

  1086. my

  1087. sin

  1088. is

  1089. too

  1090. big

  1091. my

  1092. behavior

  1093. over

  1094. the

  1095. last

  1096. year

  1097. or

  1098. two

  1099. years

  1100. or

  1101. last

  1102. month

  1103. whatever

  1104. it

  1105. might

  1106. be

  1107. it

  1108. there's

  1109. no

  1110. way

  1111. I'm

  1112. going

  1113. to

  1114. get

  1115. to

  1116. heaven

  1117. well

  1118. if

  1119. you're

  1120. depending

  1121. on

  1122. yourself

  1123. you've

  1124. got

  1125. it

  1126. wrong

  1127. it's

  1128. all

  1129. dependent

  1130. on

  1131. God

  1132. and

  1133. if

  1134. we

  1135. want

  1136. proof

  1137. that

  1138. we

  1139. can

  1140. be

  1141. in

  1142. heaven

  1143. look

  1144. back

  1145. to

  1146. what

  1147. Jesus

  1148. has

  1149. done

  1150. he

  1151. died

  1152. for

  1153. you

  1154. he

  1155. took

  1156. the

  1157. ultimate

  1158. curse

  1159. for you

  1160. and for

  1161. me

  1162. that we

  1163. might

  1164. receive

  1165. his

  1166. blessings

  1167. through

  1168. his

  1169. resurrection

  1170. so by

  1171. faith in

  1172. Christ

  1173. we can

  1174. be

  1175. absolutely

  1176. confident

  1177. that

  1178. paradise

  1179. is

  1180. 100%

  1181. guaranteed

  1182. for all

  1183. those

  1184. who have

  1185. faith

  1186. in

  1187. Christ

  1188. that

  1189. means

  1190. there

  1191. will

  1192. be

  1193. no

  1194. more

  1195. death

  1196. no

  1197. more

  1198. sadness

  1199. no

  1200. more

  1201. sickness

  1202. no

  1203. more

  1204. suffering

  1205. there

  1206. will

  1207. be

  1208. no

  1209. more

  1210. need

  1211. for

  1212. compassion

  1213. because

  1214. God

  1215. has

  1216. made

  1217. everything

  1218. new

  1219. and

  1220. everything

  1221. right

  1222. and

  1223. he

  1224. promises

  1225. that

  1226. to

  1227. you

  1228. and

  1229. to

  1230. me

  1231. today

  1232. if

  1233. we

  1234. have

  1235. faith

  1236. in

  1237. Christ

  1238. let's

  1239. pray

  1240. together

  1241. our

  1242. Father

  1243. God

  1244. we

  1245. thank

  1246. you

  1247. so

  1248. much

  1249. for

  1250. your

  1251. amazing

  1252. promise

  1253. the

  1254. promise

  1255. to

  1256. inherit

  1257. the

  1258. world

  1259. to

  1260. be

  1261. part

  1262. of

  1263. your

  1264. eternal

  1265. kingdom

  1266. and

  1267. we

  1268. thank

  1269. you

  1270. that

  1271. that

  1272. is

  1273. dependent

  1274. not

  1275. on

  1276. us

  1277. but

  1278. on

  1279. Christ

  1280. his

  1281. perfect

  1282. life

  1283. for

  1284. us

  1285. his

  1286. death

  1287. and

  1288. resurrection

  1289. for

  1290. us

  1291. thank

  1292. you

  1293. that

  1294. you

  1295. not

  1296. only

  1297. make

  1298. the

  1299. promise

  1300. but

  1301. that

  1302. you

  1303. keep

  1304. it

  1305. for

  1306. us

  1307. and

  1308. you

  1309. will
