  1. Recently, we had an offer from a family wanting to exchange homes who were living in Australia.

  2. And when I read the description, I couldn't wait to see the pictures.

  3. Their house was situated on the coast.

  4. In fact, it literally overhangs the sea.

  5. From their balcony, you can go fishing.

  6. Or you can launch their kayaks from the deck that's underneath.

  7. Swimming and barbecues seemed to be the local pastimes.

  8. It was really quite amazing.

  9. And as I looked out of my window and I looked across the road to a row of houses,

  10. and I looked beyond that to more houses and beyond that to just more concrete and wet, damp, horrible leaves,

  11. I began to dream.

  12. Dreaming away, rod in one hand, barbecue fork in the other.

  13. The evening sun, the smell of grilled steak.

  14. I could get used to this.

  15. This would be a great life.

  16. But because of costs, and it was just pictures on a website, it's going to remain a dream.

  17. But what is a reality, and what is even better than all of this,

  18. is that someone has actually exchanged places with me so that I can have the best life ever.

  19. Someone has literally swapped lives with me so that we can experience life as it was intended to be.

  20. Look at verse 1 of chapter 5.

  21. Do you see that little phrase there, those three words, justified through faith?

  22. It's like a summary term for the whole of chapters 1 to 4.

  23. Because it's telling us everything that Jesus has done for us.

  24. That Jesus Christ came to exchange places with us.

  25. He has swapped his life for our life.

  26. Jesus Christ came and he took the place of a sinner.

  27. Guilty and condemned.

  28. And he suffers the wrath and the judgment of God for us.

  29. Because in other words, Jesus is treated as we deserve to be treated,

  30. so that by faith we are treated as Jesus deserves to be treated.

  31. We can see this even at the end of verse 8,

  32. where it says,

  33. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

  34. His life for our life.

  35. That's what it means to be justified by faith.

  36. Because Jesus has exchanged places with us,

  37. we are declared acceptable to God.

  38. But that is only the beginning.

  39. The result of this new position

  40. is something that we are to experience each and every day.

  41. Look at verse 11.

  42. It says,

  43. Not only is this so,

  44. not only are we put right with God,

  45. but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

  46. through whom we have now received reconciliation.

  47. Reconciliation means that we can enjoy a living

  48. and a vibrant relationship with Jesus today.

  49. No longer are we his enemies.

  50. We are now his friends.

  51. And all this is possible because Jesus exchanged places with us.

  52. And the big message of Romans at this point,

  53. as we march into chapter 5,

  54. is that the gospel is not just something explained,

  55. which is chapters 1 to 4,

    Isaiah 1 chapter mention

  56. but it is something to be experienced.

  57. And we will see this as we go from chapters 5 through to 8.

  58. It's not just what Jesus has done,

  59. but what it means to be in a living relationship with Jesus today.

  60. So how can we have this best life ever?

  61. Well, first of all,

  62. we are to experience the gospel each day.

  63. It's not just something that we look to in the past,

  64. an event where we became a believer.

  65. It is something to be experienced each day.

  66. Look at verse,

  67. let's read from verse 1 again.

  68. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,

  69. we now have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

  70. through whom we have gained access by faith

  71. into his grace in which we now stand,

  72. and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

  73. Do you see all the benefits there?

  74. Because of what Jesus has done,

  75. we now have peace with God,

  76. we stand in his grace,

  77. and we have the hope of glory.

  78. I want you for a minute,

  79. and I think this will be quite easy for you to do,

  80. because it is quite cold,

  81. to picture yourself under a great waterfall,

  82. except this waterfall is fresh,

  83. and it's very warm.

  84. And at the bottom of this waterfall,

  85. as you stand underneath it,

  86. is this great pool of water.

  87. And from this great big pool

  88. is a series of smaller waterfalls

  89. which kind of flow from it,

  90. which fills up other little pools around the base,

  91. where you can swim and relax.

  92. Now that's what we have a picture of here.

  93. The main pool is like the relationship we have with Christ,

  94. justified by faith,

  95. our relationship with God.

  96. But from the overflow of that,

  97. we have peace,

  98. and we have grace,

  99. and we have the hope of glory.

  100. Because when the gospel is fully experienced in our life,

  101. it literally overflows into every area of our life.

  102. So let's look at these three pools in turn.

  103. First of all, we have peace with God.

  104. Peace is not just the absence of an enemy,

  105. but it is the presence of a friend.

  106. Chapters 1 to 4, as we saw,

  107. went to great lengths to explain

  108. that we were enemies of God,

  109. under His just judgment.

  110. But now because of Christ we're forgiven,

  111. we're no longer His enemies,

  112. but we're His friends.

  113. And it says here in verse 1

  114. that we now have peace with God.

  115. And that peace is not unlike the peace that was present in the Garden of Eden.

  116. Man in unity and harmony with His Creator.

  117. There was a sense of safety and security,

  118. a place of well-being,

  119. a place of wholeness.

  120. They were in search of nothing.

  121. They weren't endlessly striving for things,

  122. because they had everything.

  123. And so with our peace with God,

  124. we are satisfied and fulfilled with Christ,

  125. because we have all that we ever need in Him.

  126. And that is something we are to enjoy today,

  127. a living and vibrant relationship with God.

  128. But not only do we have peace with God,

  129. and again if you keep that picture of the waterfall in mind,

  130. flowing into the other pool is that we are standing in grace.

  131. Do you see it there in verse 2?

  132. It says,

  133. Through whom we have gained access by faith

  134. into His disgrace in which we now stand.

  135. Grace is something we talk about a lot.

  136. It is God's continuous generosity towards us

  137. which is unearned and undeserved.

  138. In practice it means that God doesn't treat us

  139. as our sins deserve.

  140. He treats us instead as His own Son,

  141. loved and treasured.

  142. You see, because of what Jesus has done,

  143. because of His grace,

  144. all our sin is covered.

  145. Our past sin,

  146. our present sin,

  147. and our future sin.

  148. So that means that when I fall,

  149. or when I sin,

  150. it doesn't mean that I fall out of God's favour.

  151. And that I have to somehow work my way

  152. back into that relationship

  153. and do something good

  154. so that He looks upon me and says,

  155. Yes, now I'm pleased with you.

  156. No, it means that because of His grace,

  157. we are forgiven,

  158. we are accepted,

  159. we are welcomed despite our sin.

  160. So we are people who stand in grace,

  161. safe and secure,

  162. never removed from His presence,

  163. always loved and treasured as His children.

  164. That is something we are to experience

  165. each and every day.

  166. But not only that,

  167. look at verse 3,

  168. not only so,

  169. but we rejoice,

  170. or sorry,

  171. the end of verse 2,

  172. we rejoice in the hope

  173. of the glory of God.

  174. Now I think we all know

  175. through our own experience,

  176. and the experience of others,

  177. that we live in a world

  178. that is terribly broken

  179. and disordered.

  180. We see nations at war,

  181. cultures clash,

  182. families break down,

  183. individual lives are wrecked

  184. through abuse and selfish addictions,

  185. and I don't think there will be

  186. any one of us here

  187. who will go through the year

  188. untouched by some aspect

  189. of the brokenness in this world.

  190. It affects each one of us

  191. through sickness,

  192. through death,

  193. through injustice,

  194. through suffering.

  195. But here is the good news

  196. at the end of verse 2.

  197. In the midst of all of that,

  198. we can rejoice

  199. in the hope of the glory of God.

  200. There is a glory,

  201. there is an eternity,

  202. there is a new heaven

  203. and a new earth.

  204. And one day,

  205. this world that we live in

  206. with all its brokenness

  207. is going to be renewed

  208. and restored.

  209. Paradise promised

  210. in all its perfection

  211. is for the believer.

  212. And that is ours to enjoy.

  213. It is guaranteed

  214. and it is assured.

  215. This is the best life

  216. that we can ever have

  217. and it is ours to experience today.

  218. We have peace,

  219. we have grace,

  220. and we have hope.

  221. And the invitation here

  222. is to swim, if you like,

  223. in the fountain of the Gospel,

  224. to bathe in the pools

  225. of what we have been given.

  226. But so often,

  227. what we can do

  228. is spend our time

  229. chasing after

  230. the dream life.

  231. To want that ideal home.

  232. To want that career.

  233. To want that job.

  234. To want the perfect partner.

  235. And as good as they may be,

  236. they are never ever

  237. going to satisfy us.

  238. They are never going to fill us.

  239. They are pools

  240. that are ultimately stagnant.

  241. What we are called to do

  242. is to come back to the Gospel,

  243. to experience it each day

  244. by swimming

  245. in the peace

  246. and in the grace

  247. and in the hope of God.

  248. But before we move on,

  249. I want us to note

  250. that these things

  251. that have been promised to us

  252. can never be taken from us.

  253. Look at what it says.

  254. It is to be a present experience.

  255. Look at verse 1.

  256. We have peace with God.

  257. It's ours today.

  258. Through whom,

  259. verse 2,

  260. we have gained access.

  261. We don't need to go

  262. trying to earn our access.

  263. We have it.

  264. We now stand in His grace.

  265. And present experience,

  266. we rejoice

  267. in the hope of the glory of God.

  268. And the reason why

  269. this is ours today

  270. and it can never be taken

  271. and because it is secure for us

  272. is because it is all through,

  273. verse 1,

  274. our Lord Jesus Christ.

  275. It's not dependent on us.

  276. It is all dependent on Christ

  277. who has secured it for us.

  278. These are ours today.

  279. These are the benefits of the Gospel

  280. which can never be taken,

  281. changed,

  282. or altered.

  283. So experience the Gospel

  284. in your life.

  285. Well, the second thing

  286. is not only to experience the Gospel,

  287. but what we've got to learn to do

  288. is to apply the Gospel

  289. into our lives

  290. and into each situation.

  291. Look at verse 3.

  292. not only so,

  293. not only do we have

  294. peace and grace and hope,

  295. but we also rejoice

  296. in our sufferings.

  297. Now that's quite hard for us

  298. to take in, isn't it?

  299. To rejoice in our sufferings

  300. because I know that there are many here

  301. who do suffer

  302. and the truth is

  303. we all are going to suffer

  304. in different ways.

  305. We've just said that we live in a world

  306. that is broken,

  307. disordered,

  308. and distorted.

  309. Not just the physical world around us,

  310. but it's our own lives

  311. that suffer.

  312. And as we go through life,

  313. we're going to experience it

  314. in different ways.

  315. It could be physically,

  316. it could be emotionally,

  317. it could be mentally.

  318. And the last thing

  319. we feel like doing

  320. when we're in the midst

  321. of our suffering

  322. is feel like rejoicing.

  323. How am I supposed to rejoice

  324. with my illness?

  325. How am I to be grateful

  326. for my condition?

  327. How am I to see good

  328. in my struggles

  329. and disappointments?

  330. Because it's telling me here

  331. that we are to rejoice

  332. in our sufferings.

  333. Well, let me make it clear

  334. that rejoicing does not mean

  335. that we jump up and down

  336. with a false smile

  337. and pretend everything is good

  338. when it's not.

  339. No, what it does mean

  340. is that through Christ,

  341. because of our new relationship

  342. with the Lord Jesus,

  343. we can look at suffering

  344. in a different way

  345. to everybody else,

  346. which means we can rejoice

  347. about that.

  348. We have a different perspective

  349. which does bring a joy

  350. to our lives.

  351. You've probably heard

  352. on the TV or radio

  353. one of the ads

  354. that has been produced

  355. by NRA,

  356. the National Roads Authority.

  357. And in it,

  358. there are various people

  359. who've been affected

  360. by road traffic accidents

  361. and they explain

  362. how the accident

  363. has affected them.

  364. And in each situation,

  365. all of them say

  366. something like this,

  367. I can never accept

  368. what has happened to me.

  369. My life is never going

  370. to be the same.

  371. Now, while much of that is true,

  372. it's also giving the message

  373. that suffering offers us nothing.

  374. That if you suffer,

  375. there's nothing good

  376. to come from it.

  377. It's a hopeless existence.

  378. But the gospel tells us

  379. that there is something

  380. quite different

  381. for those who suffer.

  382. Because of the gospel,

  383. our suffering can bring

  384. about good.

  385. Look at the rest of verse 3.

  386. The reason why we can rejoice

  387. in our sufferings

  388. is because

  389. we know that our suffering

  390. produces perseverance,

  391. perseverance character,

  392. and character hope.

  393. Let's look at those

  394. three in turn.

  395. First, suffering

  396. builds perseverance.

  397. As we journey

  398. through our life,

  399. there are going to be

  400. many times

  401. when we want to give up

  402. and give in.

  403. The Christian life

  404. will seem to be

  405. too much of a struggle.

  406. Life will be

  407. too much of a struggle.

  408. But through suffering,

  409. we actually learn

  410. perseverance.

  411. We learn the ability

  412. to keep on going.

  413. Not because of

  414. our own strength,

  415. but because of

  416. our dependence

  417. and our ability

  418. to rely upon God

  419. who gives us

  420. the strength

  421. to keep going.

  422. So suffering

  423. builds perseverance

  424. as we rest

  425. and rely

  426. and depend

  427. upon the strength

  428. and the grace

  429. of God.

  430. But not only

  431. does it build

  432. perseverance,

  433. but suffering

  434. builds character.

  435. do you know

  436. some of the most

  437. generous

  438. and kind-hearted

  439. and loving

  440. people

  441. are those who

  442. suffer.

  443. Have you ever

  444. noticed that?

  445. Why is it,

  446. do you think,

  447. that people who

  448. suffer the most,

  449. and we can think of

  450. people who've gone

  451. through really hard

  452. times,

  453. that they seem to be

  454. the people who care

  455. for others the most?

  456. Why is that?

  457. Because the gospel

  458. has taught them

  459. through their suffering,

  460. has taught them

  461. qualities like

  462. patience

  463. and understanding

  464. and empathy.

  465. In a sense,

  466. they can say,

  467. I've been there,

  468. I've been through it,

  469. I understand,

  470. and here is a God

  471. who is going to hold you,

  472. a God who's going

  473. to keep you,

  474. a God who's never

  475. going to let you go,

  476. even when you can't

  477. even pray,

  478. and even when you

  479. don't even know

  480. what's going on.

  481. Here is a God

  482. who is real.

  483. It builds character.

  484. But third,

  485. suffering also

  486. builds hope.

  487. When you're fit

  488. and healthy,

  489. and life is good,

  490. and you've got a good

  491. home,

  492. and you've got a good

  493. job,

  494. and you have all

  495. your faculties,

  496. heaven and our

  497. eternal rest

  498. can seem quite

  499. irrelevant

  500. and not required.

  501. What do I want

  502. heaven for

  503. when life is good?

  504. But as soon

  505. as suffering

  506. comes,

  507. it reminds us

  508. that we don't

  509. belong here.

  510. Suffering

  511. increases

  512. and intensifies

  513. our longing

  514. to be at home.

  515. Suffering

  516. fuels

  517. our desire

  518. to be finished

  519. with the struggles

  520. of this world,

  521. to be released

  522. from our decaying

  523. and aging

  524. and broken bodies,

  525. and to be set

  526. free from our

  527. tortured minds.

  528. Suffering

  529. builds within us

  530. an anticipation

  531. and an expectation

  532. of our final home.

  533. It urges us,

  534. it gives us

  535. a greater desire

  536. for something better.

  537. And this is what

  538. suffering does.

  539. You see,

  540. because of the gospel,

  541. we can rejoice

  542. in suffering.

  543. because it brings

  544. about good

  545. in our lives

  546. and it brings

  547. about good

  548. in the lives

  549. of others.

  550. Well,

  551. you see,

  552. and rightly

  553. you can say it,

  554. that sounds

  555. great in theory,

  556. but how do I make

  557. what's written here

  558. a reality

  559. in my life?

  560. How can I

  561. in my suffering

  562. rejoice?

  563. rejoice?

  564. Well,

  565. look at verse 5.

  566. He says,

  567. And hope

  568. does not

  569. disappoint us

  570. because God

  571. has poured out

  572. His love

  573. into our hearts

  574. by the Holy Spirit

  575. whom He

  576. has given us.

  577. We know

  578. that God

  579. loves us

  580. because He

  581. has proved

  582. His love

  583. for us

  584. on the cross.

  585. But what

  586. we want

  587. is to experience

  588. the same love

  589. in our life

  590. today.

  591. In the middle

  592. of our suffering,

  593. we don't only

  594. want to know

  595. it in our heads,

  596. but we want

  597. to feel it

  598. in our hearts.

  599. We want to know

  600. in the midst

  601. of our struggles

  602. that God loves us

  603. and that He cares

  604. for us.

  605. And that is what

  606. the Holy Spirit

  607. does.

  608. Look at the end

  609. of verse 5.

  610. God has poured

  611. out His love

  612. into our hearts.

  613. That's to be

  614. a present experience

  615. by the Holy Spirit

  616. whom He

  617. has given us.

  618. He takes

  619. the demonstrated

  620. love of Christ

  621. which we see

  622. on the cross

  623. and He pours it

  624. into our lives

  625. so that even

  626. in the most

  627. difficult of times,

  628. even in the midst

  629. of our suffering,

  630. we can rejoice

  631. because we are

  632. presently experiencing

  633. the love of God

  634. working in us.

  635. a love that brings

  636. about perseverance,

  637. a love that brings

  638. about character,

  639. a love that brings

  640. about hope.

  641. So the way

  642. that we are going

  643. to experience

  644. this love,

  645. the depth of this love

  646. to see God

  647. at work in our lives

  648. is to ask

  649. the Holy Spirit

  650. to make that real

  651. for you.

  652. He has poured

  653. His love

  654. into our hearts

  655. by the Holy Spirit

  656. whom He has given us.

  657. If you are a Christian,

  658. you have

  659. the Holy Spirit.

  660. Ask Him

  661. to make that

  662. a reality

  663. in your life

  664. so that you

  665. learn to rejoice

  666. in your suffering.

  667. But the third thing

  668. we must do

  669. is not only

  670. experience the Gospel,

  671. not only are we

  672. to apply it

  673. into our lives,

  674. but we are

  675. to remember

  676. the Gospel

  677. each day.

  678. If we are

  679. to experience it,

  680. if we are

  681. to apply it,

  682. we've got to know

  683. what it is

  684. we're experiencing,

  685. what it is

  686. we're applying.

  687. You see,

  688. it's only from

  689. the overflow

  690. of the Gospel

  691. that we find

  692. peace and grace

  693. and hope

  694. and joy.

  695. And if we don't

  696. spend our time

  697. in the Gospel,

  698. we're never going

  699. to experience

  700. those things.

  701. So we must

  702. remind ourselves

  703. of what Christ

  704. has done.

  705. There are two

  706. things here

  707. that we need

  708. to focus on.

  709. First,

  710. we need to focus

  711. on the cross.

  712. Verse 6.

  713. Let's read

  714. from verse 6.

  715. You see,

  716. at just the right

  717. time,

  718. when we were

  719. still powerless,

  720. when we could

  721. do nothing

  722. for ourselves,

  723. Christ died

  724. for the ungodly.

  725. very rarely

  726. will any person

  727. die for a

  728. righteous one.

  729. Though for a

  730. good person,

  731. someone might

  732. possibly

  733. dare to die.

  734. But God

  735. is so different.

  736. God isn't

  737. like us.

  738. God

  739. demonstrates

  740. His own

  741. love for us

  742. in this.

  743. While we were

  744. still sinners,

  745. Christ died

  746. for us.

  747. The gospel

  748. is a great

  749. leveller.

  750. It reminds us

  751. exactly what

  752. we are all

  753. like.

  754. Verse 6

  755. tells us

  756. that we are

  757. ungodly.

  758. Verse 8

  759. tells us

  760. we're sinners.

  761. Down in verse 10

  762. it describes us

  763. as being enemies.

  764. But perhaps

  765. what is most

  766. revealing is

  767. that in verse 6

  768. it says

  769. we're powerless.

  770. That we have

  771. no ability

  772. in and of

  773. ourselves

  774. to change

  775. our relationship.

  776. We can't

  777. give ourselves

  778. the ultimate life.

  779. we can't

  780. give ourselves

  781. the best life.

  782. We can't

  783. change ourselves

  784. because we're

  785. powerless.

  786. But God

  787. has done

  788. something for

  789. us in Christ.

  790. Twice it

  791. tells us

  792. in that passage

  793. verse 6

  794. that Christ

  795. died

  796. for the

  797. ungodly.

  798. In verse 8

  799. while we're

  800. still sinners

  801. Christ

  802. died

  803. for us.

  804. He takes

  805. the initiative.

  806. He moves

  807. out to

  808. us

  809. in love.

  810. Christ

  811. in love

  812. becomes

  813. our

  814. substitute.

  815. He takes

  816. the place

  817. of us

  818. who are

  819. ungodly.

  820. He takes

  821. the place

  822. of us

  823. the sinner

  824. and the

  825. enemy.

  826. And the

  827. wrath of

  828. God

  829. falls on

  830. Christ

  831. because

  832. he

  833. loves

  834. you

  835. and me.

  836. And it

  837. is by

  838. trusting in

  839. his death

  840. and reminding

  841. ourselves

  842. of all

  843. that he

  844. has done

  845. that we

  846. will

  847. experience

  848. life

  849. in all

  850. its

  851. fullness.

  852. Peace,

  853. grace,

  854. hope and

  855. joy.

  856. You've

  857. got to

  858. remember

  859. the cross.

  860. But not

  861. only the

  862. cross,

  863. we are

  864. also to

  865. focus

  866. on the

  867. resurrection.

  868. Look at

  869. verse 10.

  870. Let's

  871. read verse

  872. 10.

  873. For if

  874. when we

  875. were God's

  876. enemies

  877. we were

  878. reconciled

  879. to him

  880. through the

  881. death of

  882. his son,

  883. how much

  884. more having

  885. been

  886. reconciled

  887. shall we

  888. be saved

  889. through his

  890. life?

  891. The fact

  892. that Christ

  893. rose from

  894. the grave

  895. is proof

  896. that we

  897. too will

  898. receive our

  899. full salvation.

  900. We have

  901. peace,

  902. we have

  903. grace,

  904. we have

  905. hope,

  906. we have

  907. joy.

  908. These are

  909. benefits of

  910. the gospel

  911. that we

  912. can enjoy

  913. today.

  914. But the

  915. resurrection

  916. of Christ

  917. gives us

  918. assurance

  919. of our

  920. full salvation

  921. to come.

  922. Verse 10

  923. says,

  924. we are

  925. saved now

  926. because of

  927. his death.

  928. We are

  929. reconciled

  930. now because

  931. of his

  932. death.

  933. How much

  934. more,

  935. having been

  936. reconciled,

  937. shall we be

  938. saved through

  939. his life?

  940. How much

  941. more there

  942. is to

  943. come for

  944. the Christian?

  945. How much

  946. more we

  947. have beyond

  948. this world?

  949. At the

  950. end when

  951. Christ comes

  952. we too

  953. will raise

  954. from the

  955. grave so

  956. that we

  957. will experience

  958. our full

  959. and final

  960. salvation.

  961. And it

  962. is only

  963. by looking

  964. at the

  965. resurrection,

  966. reminding

  967. ourselves of

  968. what Christ

  969. has done,

  970. that we

  971. will know

  972. everything that

  973. we have to

  974. look forward

  975. to.

  976. So these

  977. are the

  978. two twin

  979. truths,

  980. the two

  981. great pillars

  982. of our

  983. faith.

  984. The cross

  985. and the

  986. resurrection.

  987. And we

  988. need to

  989. focus on

  990. them and

  991. remind ourselves

  992. of them

  993. each day.

  994. Do you

  995. remember the

  996. fountain that

  997. we talked

  998. about at

  999. the beginning?

  1000. And that

  1001. big pool that

  1002. fills up as

  1003. the waterfall

  1004. comes down?

  1005. Well that

  1006. pool needs

  1007. to be fed

  1008. otherwise it

  1009. will dry up.

  1010. Unless it

  1011. is filled

  1012. continually it

  1013. will become

  1014. empty.

  1015. empty.

  1016. And it's

  1017. exactly the

  1018. same with

  1019. us.

  1020. Unless we

  1021. are filled

  1022. we will

  1023. become empty.

  1024. And every

  1025. time we

  1026. go back to

  1027. the gospel,

  1028. every time

  1029. we remind

  1030. ourselves of

  1031. what Christ

  1032. has done,

  1033. His cross,

  1034. His resurrection,

  1035. so it's like

  1036. that pool

  1037. fills up and

  1038. up and it

  1039. fills and it

  1040. bubbles over

  1041. and it flows

  1042. over into

  1043. every aspect

  1044. of our life

  1045. filling us

  1046. with peace,

  1047. with grace,

  1048. with hope

  1049. and with joy.

  1050. If you're

  1051. feeling dry,

  1052. if you're

  1053. feeling empty,

  1054. if you're

  1055. not experiencing

  1056. the gospel

  1057. in your life,

  1058. I encourage

  1059. you to fill

  1060. your life up

  1061. reminding

  1062. yourself daily.

  1063. And if you

  1064. can't do it

  1065. on your own,

  1066. meet with

  1067. somebody else

  1068. who you can

  1069. read with

  1070. and pray with.

  1071. We're to

  1072. encourage each

  1073. other,

  1074. remind ourselves

  1075. of what we

  1076. have.

  1077. If we are

  1078. to experience

  1079. the best

  1080. life ever,

  1081. and this

  1082. is the best

  1083. life ever,

  1084. we are to

  1085. immerse ourselves

  1086. in the gospel.

  1087. I invite us

  1088. all to swim

  1089. in it every

  1090. day.

  1091. Don't just

  1092. dip your toe

  1093. into it once

  1094. a week when

  1095. you come along

  1096. on a Sunday

  1097. morning or

  1098. once a month.

  1099. Jump in,

  1100. apply it to

  1101. your life,

  1102. and experience

  1103. it daily

  1104. and you

  1105. will know

  1106. the best

  1107. life ever.

  1108. Let's pray

  1109. together.

  1110. Amen.

  1111. We were once

  1112. seen as ungodly

  1113. sinners

  1114. and enemies

  1115. powerless

1116. unable to change our life

  1117. or do anything

  1118. but then Christ

  1119. intervened

  1120. he broke into

  1121. our lives

  1122. he died for us

  1123. he rose again

  1124. for us

  1125. all that we could

  1126. experience the best

  1127. life ever

  1128. we thank you

  1129. for the peace

  1130. that you give us

1131. thank you that we are

  1132. standing in your grace

1133. thank you that we have

  1134. the hope of eternity

  1135. that we have joy

  1136. in our suffering

1137. and we ask that by your

  1138. Holy Spirit's power

  1139. that you would take

  1140. these truths

  1141. and apply them

  1142. to our lives

1143. so that we can feel

  1144. and know your love

  1145. and experience

  1146. the depth

  1147. of what it is

1148. to be in a living

  1149. and vibrant

  1150. relationship with you

  1151. we thank you

  1152. that we have

  1153. everything

  1154. in Christ

  1155. forgive us

  1156. when we go

  1157. chasing other dreams

  1158. help us to

  1159. chase Christ

  1160. the one who gives

  1161. us

  1162. everything

  1163. in Jesus name

  1164. Amen

  1165. we're going to

  1166. sing together

  1167. to hear

  1168. move

  1169. to

  1170. you

  1171. you

  1172. you

  1173. you
