  7. Romans chapter 11

    Romans 11 chapter mention

  8. starting in verse 1

  9. I ask then, did God reject his people?

  10. By no means.

  11. I am an Israelite myself,

  12. a descendant of Abraham from the tribe of Benjamin.

  13. God did not reject his people whom he foreknew.

  14. Don't you know what the scripture says

  15. in the passage about Elijah,

  16. how he appealed to God against Israel?

  17. Lord, they have killed your prophets

  18. and torn down your altars.

  19. I am the only one left and they are trying to kill me.

  20. And what was God's answer to them?

  21. I have reserved for myself 7,000

  22. who have not bowed the knee to Baal.

  23. So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

  24. And if by grace, then it is no longer by works.

  25. If it were, grace would no longer be grace.

  26. What then?

  27. What Israel thought so earnestly it did not obtain,

  28. but the elect did.

  29. The others were hardened, as it is written.

  30. God gave them a spirit of stupor,

  31. eyes so that they could not see,

  32. and ears so that they could not hear to this very day.

  33. And David says,

  34. may their table become a snare and a trap,

  35. a stumbling block and a retribution for them.

  36. May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,

  37. and their backs be bent forever.

  38. Thanks, Kirsty.

  39. Well, let's pray and ask for God's help

  40. as we look at this together.

  41. Father God, we ask that you would

  42. pour out your spirit to us.

  43. We pray that our eyes will be opened

  44. and our ears unblocked spiritually

  45. so we may hear your truth,

  46. that it may penetrate our lives,

  47. that we may have understanding of our minds,

  48. but that it would travel to our hearts,

  49. shaping us and changing us,

  50. and causing us to see the wonder

  51. of your amazing grace,

  52. your saving plan for our lives

  53. and for this world.

  54. And we pray above all that it will encourage us

  55. and fill our lives with hope.

  56. We pray this in Jesus' name.

  57. Amen.

  58. I had a problem recently.

  59. You might be thinking,

  60. I've got lots of problems.

  61. I do, but...

  62. A problem with a laptop.

  63. It wouldn't turn on properly,

  64. and when it did,

  65. things didn't work as they were meant to.

  66. So we went to the shop,

  67. brought it back to the people we'd got it from,

  68. pointed out to the customer service

  69. that we had bought it in this shop,

  70. that it was still under guarantee,

  71. and that they should fix it.

  72. Went off and had a chat to his manager,

  73. came back,

  74. politely said,

  75. sorry sir,

  76. there's nothing we can do for you.

  77. But you made a promise.

  78. You promised.

  79. And now you're telling us that you can do nothing for us.

  80. We left frustrated and angry.

  81. Felt let down and cheated.

  82. Disappointed.

  83. Now we can often feel that same disappointment with God.

  84. God has made a promise.

  85. He's promised to save his people.

  86. He's given his guarantee.

  87. Look back at chapter 10, verse 13.

  88. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

  89. This is a great statement on the back of God's promise

  90. to save his people.

  91. But it all seems like a waste of time.

  92. Because we all have friends

  93. and we all have family

  94. who are still not Christians.

  95. And so it leaves us with this one question.

  96. Can God save?

  97. Look at chapter 11, verse 1.

  98. After all these great promises of God coming to save,

  99. he asked this question in verse 1 of chapter 11.

  100. I asked then,

  101. did God reject his people?

  102. Has God gone back on his promise?

  103. Did God promise to do something

  104. he's just not able to do?

  105. And so we begin to wonder,

  106. is God not able to save my friend?

  107. Is God not powerful enough to save my family?

  108. You see, the problem is,

  109. God is the only one who can save people.

  110. But yet so often we seem to think

  111. he just can't do it.

  112. And we feel let down.

  113. We feel cheated.

  114. And in our cries to God,

  115. we're disappointed.

  116. Well, in response to our disappointments,

  117. God wants us to see that his grace

  118. is more powerful than we thought

  119. and much greater than we could ever imagine.

  120. Three things we're going to learn this morning.

  121. First,

  122. God's grace is more powerful

  123. than we thought.

  124. Look at verse 1 again.

  125. I asked then,

  126. did God reject his people?

  127. By no means.

  128. I am an Israelite myself,

  129. a descendant of Abraham

  130. from the tribe of Benjamin.

  131. If you think God has gone back on his promise,

  132. look at me,

  133. says Paul.

  134. Look at my life.

  135. I grew up knowing all about God's promises of salvation.

  136. I can even trace my family line

  137. all the way back to Abraham,

  138. the one through whom God made these great promises.

  139. But the point is,

  140. Paul actually ignored God's promise.

  141. Have a look at 1 Timothy.

  142. Keep your finger in Romans 11

  143. and go to 1 Timothy.

  144. It's on page 1191.

  145. 1,191.

  146. 1 Timothy.

    1 Timothy 1 chapter mention

  147. Chapter 1.

  148. Here's the man

  149. who grew up

  150. with the greatest privilege,

  151. having all the promises of God.

  152. And here's what we learn about him.

  153. Paul is telling us his story

  154. of faith,

  155. what he was like

  156. before he became a Christian.

  157. Let's read from chapter 1, verse 12.

  158. I thank Christ Jesus,

  159. our Lord,

  160. who has given me strength,

  161. that he considered me,

  162. that's Paul,

  163. faithful,

  164. appointing me to his service.

  165. Even though I was once a blasphemer.

  166. In other words,

  167. he hated Jesus.

  168. And he was a persecutor.

  169. He used to take Christians,

  170. round them up,

  171. and put them in prison.

  172. And he was a violent man.

  173. He was responsible

  174. for stoning people to death.

  175. I was shown mercy

  176. because I acted in ignorance

  177. and unbelief.

  178. The grace of the Lord Jesus

  179. was poured out on me abundantly,

  180. along with the faith and love

  181. that are in Christ Jesus.

  182. He's telling us,

  183. I was a complete rebel.

  184. I turned away from God's promise.

  185. I turned away from his Christ.

  186. Verse 15.

  187. Here is a trustworthy saying

  188. that deserves full acceptance.

  189. Christ Jesus came into the world

  190. to save sinners

  191. of whom I am the worst.

  192. He's saying,

  193. would you look at my life?

  194. If there is anybody

  195. that should not be a Christian,

  196. it's me.

  197. If there's somebody

  198. who God should not have shown grace to,

  199. it's me.

  200. I had every opportunity

  201. that I could possibly have,

  202. but I turned my back on it all

  203. and I pushed it away.

  204. Verse 16.

  205. But for that very reason,

  206. I was shown mercy

  207. so that in me,

  208. the worst of sinners,

  209. Christ Jesus might display

  210. his unlimited patience

  211. as an example

  212. for those who would believe on him

  213. and receive eternal life.

  214. if God's grace

  215. can save me,

  216. the worst of sinners,

  217. then God's grace

  218. is powerful enough

  219. to save anyone

  220. who will believe.

  221. Go back to Romans 11.

  222. You see,

  223. you may have a friend

  224. who's grown up in the church.

  225. You may have a loved one,

  226. someone within your own family,

  227. perhaps a son

  228. or a daughter

  229. or a mother

  230. or a father.

  231. They've been raised

  232. within a Christian home

  233. and all their life

  234. they have heard

  235. the promises

  236. of God's salvation

  237. and people have explained it to them,

  238. people have prayed for them,

  239. but today

  240. they show no interest

  241. and perhaps

  242. they do everything possible

  243. to distance themselves

  244. from God

  245. and you're wondering,

  246. can God save them?

  247. Well, look what it says

  248. in Romans 11,

    Romans 11:1

  249. verse 1.

  250. I ask then,

  251. did God reject his people?

  252. Verse 2.

  253. God did not reject his people

  254. whom he foreknew.

  255. You see,

  256. God has made a promise,

  257. a promise to save his people

  258. and those God promises to save,

  259. he will save

  260. and nothing and no one

  261. is going to stop him.

  262. There was a story

  263. in the Independent

  264. in the paper a while back

  265. about a father.

  266. His name was Richard Quarry

  267. who had rescued

  268. his adopted son

  269. called Ethan.

  270. Richard came home one day

  271. to discover

  272. that his son

  273. had been taken

  274. by his estranged wife

  275. and taken all the way

  276. to Zambia.

  277. Immediately,

  278. he made a promise

  279. to himself

  280. that he would do

  281. what it would take

  282. to get his son back.

  283. And the story tells

  284. of a nine-month journey,

  285. having travelled

  286. two and a half thousand miles

  287. across country,

  288. crossing borders,

  289. paying off border guards,

  290. he did everything

  291. and he brought

  292. his son home safely.

  293. Nothing was going to stop him

  294. getting his adopted son back.

  295. You see,

  296. God knows

  297. who his children are.

  298. He knows

  299. who his children are

  300. from before

  301. the creation

  302. of the world

  303. and by his grace

  304. he will not

  305. stop

  306. until all

  307. his children

  308. are home

  309. safely

  310. in his arms.

  311. He will break

  312. every barrier

  313. and he will remove

  314. every obstacle

  315. until

  316. his people

  317. are saved.

  318. God's grace

  319. is more powerful

  320. than we ever thought.

  321. The second big

  322. message

  323. is this,

  324. that God's grace

  325. is much greater

  326. than we imagined.

  327. Look at the second part

  328. of verse 2.

  329. Don't you know

  330. what the scripture says

  331. in the passage

  332. about Elijah

  333. Elijah

  334. and how he appealed

  335. to God

  336. against Israel?

  337. This is the story

  338. of Elijah the prophet

  339. at the time

  340. of King Ahab.

  341. It was the most

  342. darkest

  343. and bleakest period

  344. in the history

  345. of God's people.

  346. Ahab was

  347. described

  348. as the king

  349. who did more

  350. evil

  351. in the eyes

  352. of the Lord

  353. than any of those

  354. before him.

  355. Ahab.

  356. And the history

  357. was a terrible history.

  358. They had all gone

  359. in their evil ways

  360. but he was

  361. top of the pile.

  362. Ahab had led

  363. the people of God

  364. away.

  365. He had set up

  366. all kinds of idols

  367. and involved in

  368. all kinds of

  369. different worship

  370. and with the help

  371. of his notorious

  372. wife Jezebel

  373. they murdered off

  374. any of God's prophets.

  375. And so we read

  376. this in verse 3

  377. as Elijah

  378. cries out to God

  379. Lord

  380. they have killed

  381. your prophets

  382. torn down

  383. your altars

  384. and I am the

  385. only one left

  386. and they are

  387. trying to kill

  388. me.

  389. As far as

  390. Elijah was concerned

  391. he was the

  392. only Christian

  393. left in the

  394. whole of the

  395. nation.

  396. Everybody else

  397. had turned away

  398. from God

  399. or had been

  400. killed

  401. when there was

  402. the opportunity

  403. to show

  404. themselves

  405. they weren't

  406. there.

  407. And so angry

  408. and disappointed

  409. with God

  410. he's crying out

  411. in his frustration

  412. and in his

  413. disappointment

  414. what about

  415. your promises

  416. to save people

  417. God?

  418. What about

  419. all those people

  420. who you said

  421. you would save?

  422. And here I am

  423. I'm the only one.

  424. And Elijah

  425. wants to give up

  426. he thinks it's

  427. all a waste

  428. of time.

  429. verse 4

  430. and what was

  431. God's answer

  432. to him?

  433. I have

  434. reserved

  435. for myself

  436. 7,000

  437. who have not

  438. bowed the knee

  439. to Baal.

  440. You think

  441. that I failed?

  442. You think

  443. that I can't

  444. save people?

  445. Elijah

  446. I have done

  447. something much

  448. greater

  449. than you could

  450. ever imagine.

  451. I have saved

  452. 7,000

  453. that you know

  454. nothing about.

  455. You see

  456. we can feel

  457. like Elijah.

  458. I'm the only

  459. Christian in my

  460. family.

  461. I'm the only

  462. Christian in my

  463. class

  464. or in my

  465. year at

  466. college.

  467. Maybe you go

  468. to work

  469. every day

  470. and you're

  471. the only

  472. Christian in

  473. your workplace

  474. and you're

  475. wondering

  476. has God

  477. broken his

  478. promises?

  479. Is God

  480. able to

  481. save those

  482. around me?

  483. Well look at

  484. verse 5

  485. grace.

  486. So too

  487. at the

  488. present time

  489. there is

  490. a remnant

  491. chosen

  492. by grace

  493. and if

  494. by grace

  495. then it is

  496. no longer

  497. by works.

  498. If it were

  499. grace

  500. if it were

  501. grace

  502. would no

  503. longer

  504. be grace.

  505. You might

  506. be the only

  507. Christian

  508. at present

  509. in your

  510. family.

  511. You might

  512. be the only

  513. Christian

  514. amongst your

  515. friends.

  516. but do

  517. not think

  518. that God

  519. has ever

  520. forgotten

  521. his

  522. promises.

  523. I will

  524. save those

  525. who I

  526. have chosen

  527. by my

  528. grace.

  529. In fact

  530. the number

  531. that God

  532. saves

  533. may be

  534. greater

  535. than we

  536. ever

  537. imagined.

  538. In

  539. 1858

  540. a missionary

  541. from Scotland

  542. by the name

  543. of John

  544. Patton

  545. travelled

  546. with his

  547. wife Mary

  548. to the

  549. South Sea

  550. Islands

  551. known today

  552. as the

  553. New

  554. Hebrides.

  555. The

  556. islanders

  557. were

  558. cannibals

  559. ate

  560. their

  561. defeated

  562. enemies

  563. they

  564. practiced

  565. infanticide

  566. and

  567. widow

  568. sacrifice.

  569. Two

  570. people

  571. had gone

  572. in the

  573. years

  574. before

  575. but

  576. they

  577. had

  578. only

  579. been

  580. there

  581. a few

  582. minutes

  583. when

  584. they

  585. were

  586. butchered

  587. and killed

  588. and only

  589. a few

  590. months

  591. after

  592. John

  593. arrived

  594. on the

  595. island

  596. his wife

  597. and newborn

  598. son

  599. had died.

  600. The only

  601. Christian

  602. on the

  603. island

  604. and he

  605. was

  606. eventually

  607. driven off

  608. after four

  609. years

  610. of brutal

  611. treatment

  612. and no

  613. sign of

  614. any

  615. conversion

  616. nothing.

  617. Thirty

  618. years

  619. later

  620. having

  621. returned

  622. to the

  623. island

  624. he

  625. was

  626. able

  627. to

  628. record

  629. in

  630. his

  631. journal

  632. that

  633. 12,000

  634. had

  635. come

  636. to

  637. faith.

  638. A

  639. hundred

  640. and

  641. thirty

  642. three

  643. had

  644. been

  645. trained

  646. up

  647. and

  648. sent

  649. out

  650. to

  651. the

  652. other

  653. islands

  654. with

  655. the

  656. gospel.

  657. At

  658. times

  659. you

  660. might

  661. feel

  662. like

  663. you

  664. are

  665. the

  666. only

  667. Christian

  668. and

  669. that

  670. God

  671. has

  672. forgotten

  673. but

  674. God's

  675. grace

  676. is

  677. greater

  678. than

  679. we

  680. could

  681. ever

  682. imagine.

  683. And

  684. the

  685. third

  686. big

  687. message

  688. is

  689. this

  690. that

  691. God's

  692. grace

  693. is

  694. more

  695. dangerous

  696. than

  697. we

  698. expected.

  699. Look

  700. at

  701. verse

  702. seven

  703. what

  704. then

  705. what

  706. about

  707. all

  708. those

  709. who

  710. are

  711. not

  712. saved?

  713. Why

  714. are

  715. they

  716. not

  717. saved?

  718. Well

  719. he gives

  720. the

  721. answer

  722. what

  723. Israel

  724. sought

  725. so

  726. earnestly

  727. it

  728. did

  729. not

  730. obtain

  731. because

  732. they

  733. sought

  734. to get

  735. it

  736. by

  737. works

  738. but

  739. the

  740. elect

  741. did

  742. because

  743. it

  744. was

  745. by

  746. grace.

  747. In

  748. other

  749. words

  750. he's

  751. saying

  752. you

  753. cannot

  754. earn

  755. your

  756. salvation

  757. it's

  758. always

  759. going

  760. to

  761. be

  762. by

  763. God's

  764. grace.

  765. But

  766. the

  767. question

  768. is

  769. still

  770. there

  771. why

  772. are

  773. some

  774. still

  775. not

  776. saved?

  777. Well

  778. look at

  779. the

  780. answer

  781. at

  782. the

  783. end

  784. of

  785. verse

  786. seven

  787. the

  788. others

  789. were

  790. hardened

  791. the

  792. point

  793. is

  794. simple

  795. but

  796. very

  797. sobering

  798. rejecting

  799. God's

  800. good

  801. grace

  802. leads

  803. to

  804. a

  805. hard

  806. heart

  807. and

  808. two

  809. examples

  810. are

  811. given

  812. for

  813. us

  814. here

  815. the

  816. first

  817. one

  818. comes

  819. in

  820. verse

  821. eight

  822. and

  823. the

  824. context

  825. here

  826. is

  827. all

  828. about

  829. God's

  830. gracious

  831. rescue

  832. God

  833. in

  834. his

  835. grace

  836. had

  837. rescued

  838. his

  839. people

  840. from

  841. slavery

  842. in

  843. Egypt

  844. that

  845. was

  846. their

  847. history

  848. he

  849. had

  850. provided

  851. for

  852. them

  853. he

  854. had

  855. kept

  856. them

  857. all

  858. through

  859. their

  860. wanderings

  861. in

  862. the

  863. desert

  864. he

  865. had

  866. brought

  867. them

  868. eventually

  869. to

  870. the

  871. promised

  872. land

  873. as

  874. he

  875. said

  876. he

  877. would

  878. but

  879. the

  880. people

  881. turned

  882. their

  883. back

  884. on

  885. God

  886. they

  887. walked

  888. away

  889. from

  890. him

  891. and

  892. so

  893. their

  894. hearts

  895. were

  896. hardened

  897. and

  898. we

  899. read

  900. in

  901. verse

  902. eight

  903. as

  904. it

  905. is

  906. written

  907. God

  908. gave

  909. them

  910. a

  911. spirit

  912. of

  913. stupor

  914. eyes

  915. so

  916. they

  917. could

  918. not

  919. see

  920. ears

  921. so

  922. that

  923. they

  924. could

  925. not

  926. hear

  927. to

  928. this

  929. very

  930. day

  931. they

  932. had

  933. experienced

  934. God's

  935. grace

  936. but

  937. they

  938. rejected

  939. God's

  940. grace

  941. the

  942. second

  943. example

  944. comes

  945. in

  946. verse

  947. nine

  948. and

  949. ten

  950. and

  951. the

  952. context

  953. here

  954. is

  955. about

  956. God's

  957. gracious

  958. rule

  959. over

  960. his

  961. people

  962. because

  963. God

  964. in his

  965. grace

  966. had

  967. given

  968. them

  969. a

  970. king

  971. they

  972. had

  973. always

  974. got

  975. their

  976. own

  977. kind

  978. of

  979. king

  980. but

  981. God

  982. gave

  983. them

  984. a

  985. king

  986. after

  987. his

  988. own

  989. heart

  990. king

  991. David

  992. who

  993. was

  994. going

  995. to

  996. shepherd

  997. his

  998. people

  999. a

  1000. king

  1001. to

  1002. care

  1003. for

  1004. them

  1005. and

  1006. to

  1007. provide

  1008. for

  1009. them

  1010. but

  1011. they

  1012. rejected

  1013. this

  1014. good

  1015. king

  1016. they

  1017. turned

  1018. against

  1019. him

  1020. they

  1021. fought

  1022. against

  1023. him

  1024. they

  1025. wanted

  1026. him

  1027. dead

  1028. their

  1029. hearts

  1030. in

  1031. response

  1032. were

  1033. hardened

  1034. and so

  1035. David

  1036. says

  1037. in verse

  1038. nine

  1039. may

  1040. their

  1041. table

  1042. become

  1043. a

  1044. snare

  1045. and

  1046. a

  1047. trap

  1048. a

  1049. stumbling

  1050. block

  1051. and a

  1052. retribution

  1053. for

  1054. them

  1055. and may

  1056. their

  1057. eyes

  1058. be

  1059. darkened

  1060. so that

  1061. they

  1062. cannot

  1063. see

  1064. and their

  1065. backs

  1066. be bent

  1067. forever

  1068. they had

  1069. tasted

  1070. God's

  1071. grace

  1072. but they

  1073. rejected

  1074. God's

  1075. grace

  1076. can you

  1077. see

  1078. that grace

  1079. is more

  1080. dangerous

  1081. than we

  1082. expected

  1083. if we

  1084. reject

  1085. grace

  1086. if we

  1087. continue

  1088. to push

  1089. it away

  1090. and hold

  1091. it at

  1092. arm's

  1093. length

  1094. it will

  1095. lead to

  1096. a hard

  1097. heart

  1098. and it

  1099. works

  1100. both

  1101. ways

  1102. the more

  1103. we reject

  1104. God's

  1105. grace

  1106. the more

  1107. we say

  1108. no

  1109. no

  1110. no

  1111. the more

  1112. God

  1113. hardens

  1114. our

  1115. heart

  1116. because

  1117. look at

  1118. verse

  1119. eight

  1120. it was

  1121. God

  1122. who

  1123. gave

  1124. them

  1125. a

  1126. spirit

  1127. of

  1128. stupor

  1129. it was

  1130. God

  1131. who

  1132. gave

  1133. them

  1134. eyes

  1135. so

  1136. that

  1137. they

  1138. could

  1139. not

  1140. see

  1141. but

  1142. the more

  1143. that

  1144. God

  1145. hardens

  1146. our

  1147. hearts

  1148. the more

  1149. we will

  1150. in turn

  1151. reject

  1152. his

  1153. grace

  1154. yes

  1155. God

  1156. is

  1157. involved

  1158. yes

  1159. we

  1160. are

  1161. involved

  1162. but

  1163. we

  1164. are

  1165. without

  1166. excuse

  1167. it's

  1168. like

  1169. having

  1170. a

  1171. heart

  1172. disease

  1173. and

  1174. we

  1175. need

  1176. to

  1177. take

  1178. medication

  1179. we

  1180. need

  1181. to

  1182. take

  1183. our

  1184. cholesterol

  1185. pills

  1186. to

  1187. make

  1188. it

  1189. right

  1190. and

  1191. if

  1192. we

  1193. take

  1194. our

  1195. pills

  1196. then

  1197. the

  1198. arteries

  1199. are

  1200. going

  1201. to

  1202. be

  1203. unblocked

  1204. and

  1205. our

  1206. hearts

  1207. are

  1208. going

  1209. to

  1210. be

  1211. healthy

  1212. but

  1213. if

  1214. we

  1215. don't

  1216. take

  1217. those

  1218. pills

  1219. then

  1220. our

  1221. hearts

  1222. only

  1223. get

  1224. more

  1225. disease

  1226. and

  1227. eventually

  1228. our

  1229. bodies

  1230. become

  1231. immune

  1232. to

  1233. the

  1234. medication

  1235. so

  1236. that

  1237. they

  1238. no

  1239. longer

  1240. work

  1241. and

  1242. that's

  1243. what

  1244. it's

  1245. like

  1246. with

  1247. God's

  1248. grace

  1249. if

  1250. we

  1251. continue

  1252. to

  1253. push

  1254. against

  1255. it

  1256. and

  1257. reject

  1258. it

  1259. our

  1260. hearts

  1261. only

  1262. that

  1263. we

  1264. become

  1265. immune

  1266. to

  1267. it

  1268. now

  1269. the

  1270. thing

  1271. is

  1272. we

  1273. have

  1274. all

  1275. experienced

  1276. God's

  1277. good

  1278. grace

  1279. we

  1280. learned

  1281. this

  1282. right

  1283. at the

  1284. very

  1285. beginning

  1286. of

  1287. Romans

  1288. if

  1289. you

  1290. want

  1291. to

  1292. flick

  1293. back

  1294. to

  1295. Romans

  1326. the

  1327. creation

  1328. of

  1329. the

  1331. God's

  1332. invisible

  1334. his

  1335. eternal

  1336. power

  1337. and divine

  1338. nature

  1339. have been

  1340. clearly

  1341. seen

  1342. being

  1368. us

  1369. there

  1370. is

  1373. there

  1374. God

  1375. in

  1376. his

  1378. has

  1379. made

  1423. the

  1426. that

  1427. we've

  1428. got

  1429. a

  1431. that

  1432. we

  1433. know

  1434. this

  1435. is

  1436. right

  1441. God

  1442. in

  1443. his

  1444. grace

  1445. has

  1446. planted

  1447. that

  1449. within

  1467. but

  1468. above

  1469. all

  1470. of

  1471. this

  1472. God

  1473. has

  1474. shown

  1475. his

  1476. grace

  1477. supremely

  1478. in

  1479. giving

  1480. to

  1481. us

  1482. his

  1484. the

  1505. from

  1519. he

  1521. become

  1522. the

  1523. risen

  1524. and

  1525. eternal

  1526. king

  1527. who

  1528. continues

  1529. to

  1530. pour

  1531. his

  1532. goodness

  1533. out

  1534. upon

  1535. us

  1536. each

  1537. and

  1538. every

  1539. day

  1540. a

  1541. good

  1542. and

  1543. caring

  1544. king

  1545. who

  1546. has

  1547. promised

  1548. to

  1549. bring

  1550. us

  1551. to

  1552. his

  1553. eternal

  1554. kingdom

  1555. where

  1556. there

  1557. will

  1558. be

  1559. no

  1560. more

  1561. death

  1562. or

  1563. suffering

  1564. or

  1565. pain

  1566. or

  1567. evil

  1568. ever

  1569. again

  1570. God

  1571. in

  1572. his

  1573. grace

  1574. has

  1575. given

  1576. this

  1577. to

  1578. us

  1579. through

  1580. his

  1581. son

  1582. Jesus

  1583. and

  1584. if

  1585. we

  1586. keep

  1587. rejecting

  1588. his

  1589. grace

  1590. if we

  1591. keep

  1592. pushing

  1593. it

  1594. away

  1595. it

  1596. will

  1597. lead

  1598. to

  1599. a

  1600. slow

  1601. progressive

  1602. hardening

  1603. of our

  1604. hearts

  1605. God

  1606. God's

  1607. grace

  1608. is

  1609. more

  1610. dangerous

  1611. than

  1612. we

  1613. first

  1614. expected

  1615. but

  1616. let us

  1617. be

  1618. surprised

  1619. by

  1620. God

  1621. you

  1622. see

  1623. at

  1624. first

  1625. we

  1626. might

  1627. be

  1628. disappointed

  1629. but

  1630. as

  1631. we've

  1632. seen

  1633. with

  1634. God's

  1635. grace

  1636. it

  1637. is

  1638. more

  1639. powerful

  1640. than

  1641. we

  1642. thought

  1643. and

  1644. much

  1645. greater

  1646. than

  1647. we

  1648. imagined

  1649. if he

  1650. can

  1651. save

  1652. the

  1653. worst

  1654. of

  1655. sinners

  1656. like

  1657. Paul

  1658. then

  1659. he

  1660. can

  1661. save

  1662. people

  1663. like

  1664. you

  1665. and

  1666. me

  1667. because

  1668. if

  1669. you

  1670. are

  1671. a

  1672. Christian

  1673. it

  1674. is

  1675. a

  1676. miracle

  1677. and

  1678. God

  1679. can

  1680. do

  1681. that

  1682. miracle

  1683. in

  1684. someone

  1685. else's

  1686. life

  1687. if

  1688. he

  1689. can

  1690. save

  1691. the

  1692. 7000

  1693. that

  1694. Elijah

  1695. knew

  1696. nothing

  1697. about

  1698. then

  1699. he

  1700. can

  1701. save

  1702. your

  1703. friends

  1704. and

  1705. your

  1706. family

  1707. God's

  1708. grace

  1709. is

  1710. always

  1711. surprising

  1712. it

  1713. works

  1714. in

  1715. people

  1716. and

  1717. it

  1718. works

  1719. in

  1720. places

  1721. we

  1722. never

  1723. thought

  1724. possible

  1725. he

  1726. is

  1727. a

  1728. generous

  1729. and

  1730. a

  1731. good

  1732. God

  1733. do

  1734. not

  1735. reject

  1736. his

  1737. grace

  1738. and

  1739. become

  1740. hard

  1741. hearted

  1742. let's

  1743. pray

  1744. pray

  1745. father

  1746. we

  1747. admit

  1748. that

  1749. we

  1750. struggle

  1751. at

  1752. times

  1753. we

  1754. struggle

  1755. with

  1756. the

  1757. fact

  1758. that

  1759. we

  1760. are

  1761. the

  1762. only

  1763. Christian

  1764. in

  1765. our

  1766. college

  1767. in

  1768. our

  1769. work

  1770. perhaps

  1771. even

  1772. within

  1773. our

  1774. family

  1775. and

  1776. we

  1777. cry

  1778. out

  1779. to

  1780. God

  1781. and

  1782. as

  1783. we

  1784. cry

  1785. out

  1786. we

  1787. are

  1788. reminded

  1789. of

  1790. your

  1791. amazing

  1792. grace

  1793. and

  1794. your

  1795. power

  1796. to

  1797. save

  1798. and

  1799. so

  1800. we

  1801. ask

  1802. father

  1803. God

  1804. that

  1805. you

  1806. would

  1807. continue

  1808. to

  1809. do

  1810. your

  1811. work

  1812. that

  1813. you

  1814. would

  1815. give

  1816. us

  1817. a

  1818. heart

  1819. that

  1820. keeps

  1821. on

  1822. praying

  1823. that

  1824. you

  1825. would

  1826. give

  1827. us

  1828. a

  1829. mouth

  1830. that

  1831. keeps

  1832. on

  1833. talking

  1834. and

  1835. gently

  1836. explaining

  1837. the

  1838. good

  1839. news

  1840. of

  1841. Christ

  1842. and

  1843. praying

  1844. father

  1845. God

  1846. that

  1847. you

  1848. will

  1849. bring

  1850. people

  1851. into

  1852. your

  1853. kingdom

  1854. we

  1855. trust

  1856. you

  1857. to

  1858. do

  1859. this

  1860. for

  1861. we

  1862. cannot

  1863. and

  1864. we

  1865. pray

  1866. that

  1867. people

  1868. would

  1869. receive

  1870. your

  1871. grace

  1872. and

  1873. not

  1874. reject

  1875. it

  1876. amen

  1877. we're

  1878. going

  1879. to

  1880. sing
