  1. Help us.

  2. Our Father God, we thank you for the church and for this church family.

  3. We thank you for every person who is here and every family that is represented.

  4. We thank you for your love to us.

  5. We thank you for your kindness.

  6. And Father, as we meet together like this and as we live together as your people,

  7. we want to become the kind of people you call us to be.

  8. We want to be the kind of church that you say we should be, not what we think or what we decide.

  9. And so we pray for your help and your power to be at work within us,

  10. to show us who you are like and what you are like,

  11. so that we too become people who reflect you

  12. and people who show you to the world around us.

  13. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

  14. Amen.

  15. The problem with this church is...

  16. I wonder how would you complete that sentence?

  17. And please don't shout out.

  18. You can have a private word with me on the way out if you like.

  19. Well, whatever you think the problems are in this church,

  20. the problems in Corinth are very disturbing.

  21. Have a look at chapter 3 and verse 1.

  22. Chapter 3, verse 1.

  23. Brothers and sisters,

  24. I could not address you as spiritual,

  25. but as worldly.

  26. Mere infants in Christ.

  27. You see, this church in Corinth behaved more like the world around them

  28. than the Christ they claimed to follow.

  29. And the problems were indeed very serious.

  30. Just look at verse 3 of chapter 3.

  31. You are still worldly,

  32. for since there is jealousy and quarrelling among you,

  33. are you not worldly?

  34. Are you not acting like mere men?

  35. But you know what?

  36. All that jealousy and quarrelling was just the tip of the iceberg.

  37. Have a look at chapter 5, verse 1.

  38. It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you

  39. and of a kind that does not occur even among the pagans.

  40. A man has his father's wife.

  41. They were very serious problems.

  42. In fact, the problems were very, very deep.

  43. They were fighting with each other

  44. and they were suing each other,

  45. taking each other to court.

  46. Have a look at chapter 6, verse 5.

  47. Chapter 6, verse 5.

  48. I say this to shame you.

  49. Is it possible that there is nobody among you

  50. wise enough to judge a dispute between yourselves?

  51. But instead, one brother goes to law against another

  52. and this in front of unbelievers.

  53. So not only were they making a mess of their own lives,

  54. they were a bad witness to those around them.

  55. And to cap it all off,

  56. their church services, gatherings just like this,

  57. were like a drunken feast.

  58. Have a look at chapter 11, verse 20.

  59. Chapter 11, verse 20.

  60. So he's describing a gathering when they come together.

  61. Verse 20, when you come together,

  62. it is not the Lord's supper you eat,

  63. so it's not communion or the Eucharist

  64. that you're sharing in together.

  65. For as you eat, each of you goes ahead

  66. without waiting for anybody else.

  67. One remains hungry, another gets drunk.

  68. So this indeed was a very messy church.

  69. Rather than look like Christ,

  70. they actually looked like the world around them.

  71. No wonder that Paul would tell them in no uncertain terms

  72. at the very end in chapter 15, verse 34.

  73. He is absolutely crystal clear in what he says

  74. chapter 15, verse 34.

  75. Come back to your senses as you ought

  76. and stop sinning.

  77. But let's not be too quick to point fingers.

  78. You see, this isn't just a Corinth problem.

  79. This is a church problem.

  80. It is a carigoline problem.

  81. Because we too are messy people.

  82. We also fail and fall.

  83. We also gossip and quarrel.

  84. We get jealous with one another.

  85. We fall out with each other.

  86. We judge ourselves to be superior and others inferior.

  87. Our marriages are not always what they should be.

  88. We mightn't sleep around,

  89. but we secretly watch porn.

  90. We mightn't turn up to church drunk,

  91. but it can happen when we're out with our friends.

  92. The sad reality is church is messy.

  93. And we too, myself included,

  94. are messy people.

  95. So what should we do with a church

  96. when its behaviour is actually more worldly

  97. than spiritual?

  98. Do we just shut it down?

  99. Say start again,

  100. tell everybody go home,

  101. that's it,

  102. that's the end,

  103. that's finished.

  104. What would Paul,

  105. or what would God,

  106. have to say to this church

  107. through Paul?

  108. Well,

  109. go back to chapter 1 of Corinthians.

  110. Chapter 1 and verse 2.

  111. Look at what he says

  112. to this church.

  113. Verse 2.

  114. To the church of God in Corinth,

  115. to those sanctified,

  116. and sanctified means to be made holy.

  117. So to the church of God in Corinth,

  118. to those made holy in Christ Jesus,

  119. and called to be holy.

  120. Now isn't that amazing?

  121. We might not always look like

  122. the holy church of God,

  123. but that is what we are.

  124. This messy church,

  125. with all its problems,

  126. beginning of verse 2,

  127. is still God's church.

  128. We are his holy people,

  129. set apart from him,

  130. or for him,

  131. and belonging to him.

  132. That's why Paul,

  133. knowing what the church was like,

  134. as he would go on to describe

  135. all the mess that was going on,

  136. and try to correct all the problems,

  137. he could still say this

  138. at the very beginning.

  139. Look at verse 4.

  140. I always thank God for you.

  141. Isn't that amazing?

  142. Despite all the ongoing struggles,

  143. and all the mess in our lives,

  144. we can still say,

  145. thank you to God,

  146. for the church,

  147. and for one another.

  148. Because,

  149. we are loved by God,

  150. treasured by God,

  151. we are his people,

  152. the holy church of God.

  153. But,

  154. how can a messy church,

  155. be also,

  156. a holy church?

  157. Because,

  158. the two things,

  159. seem in contradiction.

  160. There's a bit of a tension.

  161. On the one hand,

  162. we've just seen,

  163. what a mess they are.

  164. And then,

  165. at the very beginning,

  166. he's saying,

  167. you're a holy church.

  168. How can that be?

  169. How do you put those two things together?

  170. Well,

  171. we need reminded of two things.

  172. Here's the first one.

  173. First,

  174. we have been made holy.

  175. Let's read verse two again,

  176. of chapter one.

  177. To the church of God,

  178. in Corinth,

  179. to those sanctified,

  180. in Christ Jesus.

  181. Now,

  182. we often come across that word,

  183. sanctified,

  184. in the Bible.

  185. And it simply means,

  186. to be made clean,

  187. and to be made pure,

  188. deep within our lives.

  189. In other words,

  190. it's to be made holy,

  191. so that we are acceptable to God.

  192. You see,

  193. throughout the Bible,

  194. God reveals himself,

  195. as the only one who is holy.

  196. You start at the very beginning of the Bible,

  197. and very quickly,

  198. God introduces himself,

  199. as holy.

  200. We read it at the very beginning.

  201. He says,

  202. be holy because,

  203. I am holy.

  204. He declares himself,

  205. to be perfectly pure,

  206. in all that he is,

  207. and all that he does.

  208. He's perfect in love,

  209. perfect in goodness,

  210. perfect in his justice,

  211. perfect in mercy.

  212. He is absolutely pure.

  213. There is no fault,

  214. there is no blame,

  215. there is no sin,

  216. there is no evil,

  217. there is no wrong,

  218. he never gets cross.

  219. Everything is perfectly pure,

  220. and good,

  221. and beautiful.

  222. That is what God is like.

  223. And he sets the standard,

  224. for perfection,

  225. and purity.

  226. And because God is holy,

  227. that means,

  228. by nature,

  229. he cannot tolerate anything,

  230. or anyone that is unholy.

  231. Holy and unholy,

  232. cannot mix together.

  233. They are distinct,

  234. they are separate.

  235. Just like oil and water,

  236. you can't mix the two,

  237. they can't be together.

  238. And in the same way,

  239. God in his holiness is one,

  240. and we in our unholiness,

  241. are another.

  242. So that leaves,

  243. unholy people like you and me,

  244. separate from God,

  245. and under his pure judgment.

  246. But look what it says in verse 2.

  247. To the church of God,

  248. in Corinth,

  249. to those made holy,

  250. or sanctified,

  251. in Christ Jesus.

  252. Christ,

  253. who is the God-man,

  254. God who became flesh and blood,

  255. and walked this earth,

  256. is perfectly pure.

  257. And he entered into our imperfect,

  258. impure world.

  259. And Christ,

  260. who is holy,

  261. took on our unholiness on himself.

  262. And he has given to us,

  263. and he has given to us,

  264. his holiness,

  265. so that we are treated,

  266. as if we are holy.

  267. I'm going to repeat that again,

  268. because that is central,

  269. to what it is to be made holy.

  270. Christ,

  271. who is holy,

  272. he came and took,

  273. our unholiness on himself,

  274. died on the cross,

  275. and took the blame,

  276. for our unholiness.

  277. And in place of that,

  278. has given to us,

  279. his holiness,

  280. so that,

  281. we are treated,

  282. as if we are holy.

  283. Have a look at chapter 1,

  284. verse 30.

  285. It tells us there,

  286. chapter 1,

  287. verse 30,

  288. it is because of him,

  289. that is,

  290. it is because of God's work,

  291. not our work,

  292. God's work,

  293. it is because of him,

  294. that you are in Christ Jesus,

  295. who has become for us,

  296. wisdom from God,

  297. that is,

  298. our righteousness,

  299. our holiness,

  300. and our redemption.

  301. Through our faith in Jesus,

  302. we have been made clean,

  303. we have been washed,

  304. deep inside of us.

  305. Our sin has been dealt with,

  306. so that messy people,

  307. like you and me,

  308. are presented before God,

  309. as acceptable,

  310. and holy.

  311. Now that,

  312. is something amazing.

  313. Messy me,

  314. in all my failures,

  315. and in all my falling,

  316. because of my faith in Jesus,

  317. am presented before God,

  318. and treated,

  319. as if,

  320. I am holy.

  321. Now,

  322. incredibly,

  323. the work that God begins,

  324. in us like that,

  325. lasts forever.

  326. It doesn't just happen for a day,

  327. our faith in Jesus means,

  328. it happens for,

  329. an eternity.

  330. Look at verse 8,

  331. of chapter 1.

  332. It tells us this,

  333. he will keep you strong,

  334. to the end,

  335. so that you will be blameless,

  336. and that word blameless,

  337. is connected to the word,

  338. holy,

  339. it's to be pure,

  340. to be right,

  341. before God.

  342. So,

  343. you will be blameless,

  344. on the day,

  345. of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  346. So when Jesus comes back again,

  347. on that day,

  348. you will be presented,

  349. as blameless,

  350. holy,

  351. pure,

  352. perfect,

  353. before him.

  354. What God,

  355. has made,

  356. holy,

  357. if God has done,

  358. that work in you,

  359. you cannot be,

  360. made,

  361. unholy.

  362. If God,

  363. has made you,

  364. holy,

  365. you are kept,

  366. holy.

  367. His cleansing work,

  368. in our lives,

  369. has an eternal,

  370. impact.

  371. Yes,

  372. we are messy people,

  373. but we are also,

  374. God's,

  375. holy people.

  376. We are a,

  377. messy church,

  378. but God,

  379. has made us,

  380. his,

  381. holy church.

  382. That's incredible.

  383. Now,

  384. that doesn't mean,

  385. we ignore,

  386. all the sinful mess,

  387. and go,

  388. okay,

  389. I'm a messy person,

  390. God has made me,

  391. holy,

  392. doesn't matter how I live,

  393. I do whatever I like.

  394. No,

  395. if we understand it correctly,

  396. being made,

  397. holy,

  398. also means,

  399. we begin to live,

  400. holy lives.

  401. Look at the rest,

  402. of verse two.

  403. We'll read it again.

  404. To the church of God,

  405. in Corinth,

  406. to those sanctified,

  407. or made holy,

  408. in Christ Jesus,

  409. and called,

  410. to be holy.

  411. And in case you don't think,

  412. it applies to us,

  413. read the rest of the verse.

  414. We are called to be holy,

  415. together,

  416. with all those,

  417. everywhere,

  418. who call on the name,

  419. of the Lord Jesus Christ,

  420. their Lord,

  421. and ours.

  422. So this is written,

  423. to the church then,

  424. but it applies,

  425. to every Christian,

  426. in every church,

  427. now.

  428. God has given us,

  429. his holiness,

  430. and now he calls us,

  431. to start living out,

  432. that holy life.

  433. You're made holy,

  434. now go and be holy.

  435. Go and live,

  436. a holy life.

  437. There's a great scene,

  438. at the end of,

  439. The Lion,

  440. the Witch,

  441. and the Wardrobe,

  442. that great series,

  443. by C.S. Lewis.

  444. And those four characters,

  445. Peter,

  446. Susan,

  447. Lucy,

  448. and Edmund,

  449. at the very end,

  450. of that story,

  451. they've all arrived,

  452. at the great hall,

  453. of Kerr Paval.

  454. And as they arrive,

  455. they're met,

  456. by Aslan,

  457. the Lion.

  458. And this is,

  459. what it says.

  460. In the presence,

  461. of all their friends,

  462. and to the sound of trumpets,

  463. Aslan solemnly crowned them,

  464. and led them to their four thrones,

  465. amid deafening shouts of,

  466. Long live King Peter!

  467. Long live Queen Susan!

  468. Long live King Edmund!

  469. Long live Queen Lucy!

  470. And then Aslan says,

  471. Once a king or queen in Narnia,

  472. always a king or queen.

  473. Bear it well, sons of Adam.

  474. Bear it well, daughters of Eve.

  475. Now can you see the parallel?

  476. Hello?

  477. God has welcomed us,

  478. into his family,

  479. and he has crowned us,

  480. if you like,

  481. with his holiness.

  482. He has dressed us,

  483. and robed us,

  484. with his holiness.

  485. And once we are made,

  486. holy by God,

  487. always holy before God.

  488. Now bear it well,

  489. sons of God.

  490. Bear it well,

  491. daughters of God.

  492. Live out your new life of holiness.

  493. You have been crowned with holiness.

  494. Now become what you have been made to be.

  495. Start living like Christ,

  496. and stop looking like the world.

  497. And let's be clear,

  498. as to the calling of this,

  499. that doesn't just mean a little private aspect

  500. of a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.

  501. This calling to live a holy life

  502. covers every aspect of our life.

  503. Let me give you just one pointer to that.

  504. Have a look at chapter 6,

  505. verse 19.

  506. Chapter 6, verse 19.

  507. So we're made holy,

  508. we're called to be holy,

  509. and this calling

  510. is covering

  511. every aspect of our lives.

  512. Look at chapter 6, verse 19.

  513. Do you not know that your body,

  514. so your physical body,

  515. as you're sitting there

  516. and I'm standing here,

  517. your body is a temple

  518. of the Holy Spirit,

  519. the perfect,

  520. the perfect, pure Spirit of God.

  521. Your body,

  522. your life,

  523. if you are a Christian,

  524. you are a home

  525. of the Holy,

  526. pure Spirit,

  527. your life.

  528. Who is in you,

  529. whom you have received

  530. from God.

  531. You are not your own.

  532. You don't belong

  533. to yourself anymore.

  534. You don't live

  535. your kind of way.

  536. You now belong to God.

  537. You're God's holy people.

  538. Verse 20.

  539. You were bought

  540. at a price.

  541. Therefore,

  542. honour God

  543. with your body.

  544. We've been made

  545. the holy people of God.

  546. We have become

  547. the home

  548. of the pure,

  549. perfect,

  550. Holy Spirit of God.

  551. So now let us go out

  552. and live

  553. as the holy people of God.

  554. What a calling.

  555. What an amazing thing

  556. he has done for us.

  557. But how do we actually

  558. live out this holy life?

  559. Because as I think about this,

  560. made holy,

  561. get that.

  562. Called to be holy,

  563. I get that.

  564. But how am I going to do it?

  565. Knowing what I am like.

  566. How am I actually going to

  567. start living that out?

  568. Well, thankfully,

  569. he does not leave us alone

  570. because what God begins,

  571. God continues,

  572. and he will finish.

  573. His work continues

  574. in our life.

  575. He gives us three resources

  576. to help us

  577. to live out

  578. a holy life

  579. as a holy church.

  580. Here they are.

  581. Here's the first one.

  582. Three resources

  583. that we're given

  584. to live out

  585. a holy life.

  586. First,

  587. we are given

  588. the grace

  589. of Christ.

  590. Verse 4.

  591. I always thank God

  592. for you

  593. because of his

  594. grace

  595. given you

  596. in Christ Jesus.

  597. Sorry,

  598. we're back in chapter 1,

  599. verse 4.

  600. I always thank God

  601. for you

  602. because of his grace

  603. given you

  604. in Christ Jesus.

  605. Grace,

  606. another good Bible word,

  607. is God's unconditional

  608. kindness

  609. which he has placed

  610. or put upon us.

  611. So what is the grace

  612. that he's put upon us

  613. or placed on us?

  614. Look at verse 5.

  615. For in him

  616. you have been

  617. enriched

  618. in every way

  619. in all your

  620. speaking

  621. and in all

  622. your knowledge.

  623. So this speaking

  624. and this knowledge

  625. refer to

  626. word gifts

  627. that he's going

  628. to talk about later.

  629. They're specific gifts

  630. given to us,

  631. word gifts,

  632. speaking and knowledge.

  633. But for now

  634. he wants us to know

  635. that Christ

  636. in his grace

  637. has placed upon us

  638. this great ability

  639. upon his people,

  640. the ability

  641. to know

  642. God's word

  643. and to teach

  644. God's word

  645. and to share

  646. God's word

  647. with each other.

  648. You see,

  649. without the grace

  650. of God's word

  651. at work among us

  652. we will not be able

  653. to live

  654. as God's holy people

  655. because it is

  656. through the word

  657. that we become pure.

  658. It is through the word

  659. that we become holy.

  660. It is as it goes

  661. into our lives

  662. and changes us

  663. that we become

  664. the people

  665. God calls us to be.

  666. So he says

  667. you've been enriched

  668. in speaking

  669. and in knowledge.

  670. You have these amazing

  671. word gifts

  672. to teach and encourage

  673. and build each other up

  674. to become

  675. the holy people of God.

  676. That is the first resource

  677. that we have.

  678. So I want to encourage

  679. all of us

  680. to make it our priority

  681. to meet together

  682. on Sundays

  683. to come together

  684. as we do

  685. in our home groups

  686. on Wednesdays

  687. to come ready

  688. to speak

  689. God's word

  690. into each other's lives

  691. because as we speak

  692. God's word

  693. into each other's lives

  694. it changes us

  695. it transforms us

  696. it enables us

  697. to become holy

  698. and you can do that

  699. in my life

  700. and I can do that

  701. in your life.

  702. So let's keep

  703. the word central

  704. to our lives

  705. this grace gift

  706. from God

  707. to help us

  708. to go on

  709. to be a holy church.

  710. So that's the first thing

  711. he's given us.

  712. Here's the second.

  713. He's given us

  714. gifts of the Spirit.

  715. Verse 7

  716. Therefore

  717. you do not lack

  718. any spiritual gift

  719. as you eagerly wait

  720. for our Lord Jesus Christ

  721. to be revealed.

  722. Again

  723. a wonderful resource

  724. a wonderful gift.

  725. He gives to his church

  726. all the gifts

  727. that they need.

  728. He doesn't shortchange us

  729. He gives as he determines

  730. He decides to each person

  731. what gifts they have

  732. and what the church has

  733. It's not our choice

  734. it's what God gives to us

  735. and so we are never

  736. ever lacking

  737. what God decides

  738. and what God determines

  739. is what is right

  740. and best

  741. for that church

  742. and for those people.

  743. He gives gifts

  744. to his church

  745. but the purpose

  746. of all of those gifts

  747. is to enable us

  748. to be

  749. what we have been

  750. called to be.

  751. He says we are called

  752. to be holy

  753. so the reason

  754. he gives us

  755. all of these gifts

  756. is so that we can become

  757. holy people.

  758. The gifts are not

  759. for our private use

  760. He will go on

  761. to speak about this

  762. at length

  763. in 11 to 14

  764. but we have

  765. this gift

  766. given to us

  767. to the church

  768. for the purpose

  769. of building each other up

  770. so that we become

  771. more like Him

  772. holy

  773. and pure

  774. and right

  775. and all of that

  776. implies

  777. that this calling

  778. to be holy

  779. is a church project.

  780. It goes on

  781. we are told

  782. in verse 7

  783. until

  784. Jesus Christ

  785. is revealed

  786. so from now

  787. until Jesus returns

  788. He calls the church

  789. together

  790. He gives gifts

  791. upon His church

  792. and upon each person

  793. He places us together

  794. as we are

  795. and He says

  796. now start using

  797. your gifts

  798. amongst each other

  799. and for each other

  800. and through that gifting

  801. He moves us

  802. from messy people

  803. to holy people.

  804. The point being

  805. we cannot become

  806. holy

  807. in isolation

  808. we need

  809. one another

  810. that's why

  811. we meet together

  812. we cannot do it

  813. on our own

  814. we actually need

  815. each other

  816. and God's gifts

  817. to you

  818. are the people

  819. around you

  820. so

  821. He gives us

  822. the grace of Christ

  823. He gives us

  824. the gifts

  825. of the Spirit

  826. and here's

  827. the final resource

  828. we have the promise

  829. of God

  830. look at verse 8

  831. He

  832. that is God

  833. will keep you

  834. strong to the end

  835. so that you

  836. will be blameless

  837. and there's that word

  838. we looked at again already

  839. blameless

  840. to be holy

  841. on the day

  842. of our Lord

  843. Jesus Christ

  844. the calling

  845. to be holy

  846. is great

  847. the fact

  848. of it

  849. can weigh us down

  850. that He would

  851. call me

  852. to be holy

  853. can crush me

  854. can overwhelm me

  855. as I look at

  856. who God is

  857. and what I am like

  858. and say

  859. how can I do it

  860. I am such

  861. a messy person

  862. how can I do it

  863. well not only

  864. do we have

  865. the grace of Christ

  866. not only do we have

  867. the gifts of the Spirit

  868. to make it possible

  869. but God has given

  870. the church

  871. His people

  872. this amazing promise

  873. look at it

  874. in verse 9

  875. God

  876. who has called you

  877. into fellowship

  878. with His Son

  879. Jesus Christ

  880. our Lord

  881. is faithful

  882. the one who

  883. called you

  884. to be holy

  885. the one who's

  886. called you

  887. into fellowship

  888. and who's made you

  889. holy

  890. He

  891. is

  892. faithful

  893. that means

  894. He will not

  895. give up on us

  896. He will never

  897. disown us

  898. or abandon us

  899. as a church

  900. in our failures

  901. He will stick with you

  902. when you fall in sin

  903. He will pick you up

  904. the church

  905. belongs to God

  906. it is God's

  907. holy

  908. project

  909. He's on a mission

  910. to take people

  911. like you

  912. and me

  913. and He is

  914. faithfully committed

  915. from now

  916. until eternity

  917. to make us

  918. holy

  919. and God

  920. is

  921. faithful

  922. we may be

  923. unfaithful

  924. but He is

  925. faithful

  926. He has promised

  927. to move us

  928. from messy church

  929. to holy church

  930. to be the people

  931. He calls us

  932. to be

  933. so what is our

  934. calling

  935. in life

  936. why are we

  937. here

  938. why do we

  939. exist

  940. we're called

  941. to be

  942. holy

  943. like God

  944. and in His

  945. goodness

  946. He has given

  947. us His grace

  948. He has given

  949. us His spirit

  950. He has given

  951. us His promise

  952. and most of all

  953. He's given us

  954. His Son

  955. the Lord

  956. Jesus Christ

  957. who's taken

  958. my unholiness

  959. and your

  960. unholiness

  961. and in His

  962. place

  963. has given

  964. His holiness

  965. upon us

  966. so that we

  967. can be

  968. the people

  969. of God

  970. messy church

  971. but the

  972. holy church

  973. of God

  974. let's pray

  975. together

  976. I'm going

  977. to read

  978. a prayer

  979. this prayer

  980. you will

  981. find

  982. on the

  983. messy church

  984. holy church

  985. little booklet

  986. it's at the

  987. very end

  988. of it

  989. and you

  990. can see

  991. it

  992. afterwards

  993. but let's

  994. pray

  995. our Father

  996. God

  997. thank you

  998. that we

  999. have been

  1000. made holy

  1001. pure

  1002. and blameless

  1003. in your

  1004. sight

  1005. through the

  1006. redeeming work

  1007. of your

  1008. Son

  1009. Jesus

  1010. Christ

  1011. thank you

  1012. that through

  1013. our faith

  1014. in Jesus

  1015. we are

  1016. forgiven

  1017. all our

  1018. messy past

  1019. and present

  1020. failures

  1021. and are now

  1022. called to live

  1023. holy lives

  1024. in this

  1025. world

  1026. by the

  1027. power of

  1028. your

  1029. Holy Spirit

  1030. would you

  1031. please help

  1032. us to live

  1033. lives that

  1034. reflect you

  1035. and honour

  1036. you in our

  1037. families

  1038. schools

  1039. and places

  1040. of work

  1041. please help

  1042. us to deal

  1043. with the sin

  1044. in our lives

  1045. to stand

  1046. firm in the

  1047. gospel

  1048. to give

  1049. ourselves

  1050. fully to

  1051. the work

  1052. of the

  1053. Lord

  1054. to make

  1055. every effort

  1056. to build

  1057. up the

  1058. church

  1059. family

  1060. with the

  1061. sure and

  1062. certain promise

  1063. that God

  1064. who called

  1065. us is

  1066. faithful

  1067. and will

  1068. keep us

  1069. strong to

  1070. the end

  1071. we thank

  1072. you for

  1073. your word

  1074. amen

  1075. we're going

  1076. to sing

  1077. together

  1078. a song

  1079. which brings

  1080. this

  1081. theme

  1082. to an

  1083. end

  1084. we are

  1085. the

  1086. temple

  1087. of the

  1088. Holy Spirit

  1089. if you

  1090. are a

  1091. Christian

  1092. God

  1093. lives in

  1094. you by

  1095. his

  1096. spirit

  1097. and so

  1098. we pray

  1099. Holy Spirit

  1100. living breath

  1101. of God

  1102. come

  1103. renew my

  1104. heart

  1105. and make

  1106. me whole

  1107. cause your

  1108. word to

  1109. come alive

  1110. in me

  1111. give me

  1112. passion

  1113. for your

  1114. purity

  1115. Holy Spirit

  1116. breathe new

  1117. life in me

  1118. let's stand

  1119. together

  1120. as we

  1121. sing

  1122. Holy Spirit

  1123. living breath

  1124. of God

  1125. breathe new

  1126. life

  1127. into my

  1128. willing

  1129. soul

  1130. let the

  1131. presence

  1132. of the

  1133. risen

  1134. Lord

  1135. come

  1136. renew

  1137. my

  1138. heart

  1139. and make

  1140. me

  1141. whole

  1142. cause

  1143. your

  1144. word

  1145. to come

  1146. alive

  1147. in me

  1148. give me

  1149. faith

  1150. for what

  1151. I cannot

  1152. see

  1153. give me

  1154. passion

  1155. for your

  1156. purity

  1157. Holy Spirit

  1158. breathe new

  1159. life

  1160. in me

  1161. Holy Spirit

  1162. shall

  1163. abide

  1164. within

  1165. may

  1166. your

  1167. joy

  1168. be

  1169. seen

  1170. in all

  1171. I do

  1172. love

  1173. enough

  1174. to cover

  1175. everything

  1176. in its

  1177. thoughts

  1178. and

  1179. deed

  1180. and

  1181. attitude

  1182. kindness

  1183. to the

  1184. greatest

  1185. and

  1186. the

  1187. least

  1188. gentleness

  1189. that

  1190. flows

  1191. the path

  1192. of peace

  1193. turn

  1194. my

  1195. life

  1196. into

  1197. works

  1198. of

  1199. grace

  1200. and

  1201. oh God

  1202. show

  1203. Christ

  1204. in all

  1205. I do

  1206. so

  1207. show

  1208. your

1209. your power once again on earth cause your church to hunger for your way

1210. let the fragrance of the world

1211. lead us on the road to sacrifice

1212. let's pray father we thank you for all that we have and all that we can enjoy together

1213. we thank you for the work you have done in our lives we thank you for your promise

1214. to go on doing that work and we pray that together as your people we would work together to that cause

1215. encouraging helping praying spurring one another on to live lives of holiness that reflect you

1216. to each other and to the world around us we pray this in your name amen

  1217. so

  1218. you
