  1. And that is on page 1147.

  2. If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for justice, for judgment instead of before the saints?

  3. Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?

  4. And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge tribal cases?

  5. Do you not know that we will judge angels?

  6. How much more the things of this life?

  7. Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church.

  8. If I say this to shame you, is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?

  9. But instead, one brother goes to law against another, if this in front of unbelievers.

  10. The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already.

  11. Why not rather be wronged?

  12. Why not rather be cheated?

  13. Instead, you yourself cheat and do wrong.

  14. And you do this to your brothers.

  15. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?

  16. Do not be deceived.

  17. Neither do sexually immorals, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders,

  18. nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor the drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers.

  19. Will inherit the kingdom of God.

  20. And that is, some of you were.

  21. But you were washed.

  22. You were sanctified.

  23. You were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  24. And by the Spirit of our God.

  25. Thank you, Orvita.

  26. Well, we're going to pray as we keep that section of Scripture open,

  27. as we've been following along in our studies of 1 Corinthians.

  28. Let's pray.

  29. Let's pray.

  30. Our Father God, we thank you for the work that you have done in our lives

  31. through Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

  32. And we pray that we would continually know,

  33. as we read and think about your Word this morning,

  34. that we would know your Spirit at work in our lives,

  35. changing us and bringing us on,

  36. individually but also corporately together,

  37. as your family.

  38. We pray this in Jesus' name.

  39. Amen.

  40. So,

  41. are you a saint?

  42. Or are you a sinner?

  43. Well, maybe like me,

  44. there's some days you feel like a saint.

  45. Maybe there's other days when you feel like a sinner.

  46. Well, if we are Christians,

  47. if we're followers of the Lord Jesus,

  48. we are actually both.

  49. We are saints who sin.

  50. Look at how this church is addressed in chapter 6.

  51. We see at the end of verse 1

  52. that they were to bring disputes before the saints.

  53. Verse 2,

  54. Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?

  55. So, the saints are the church,

  56. the people of God.

  57. You see,

  58. a saint is not a dead person with a title.

  59. A saint is a living person

  60. who has been made holy,

  61. pure and clean before God.

  62. So, look at verse 11.

  63. He tells us how that came about.

  64. Just the second line into verse 11.

  65. He says,

  66. You were washed.

  67. You were sanctified.

  68. You were justified

  69. in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

  70. and by the Spirit of our God.

  71. It's telling us there that Jesus,

  72. who was pure and clean and holy,

  73. took our sin on himself,

  74. cleaned us,

  75. forgave us,

  76. so that we could become pure before God.

  77. So, the saints are the church of God,

  78. the people of God,

  79. who have been made holy.

  80. But let's not forget,

  81. we are saints who still sin.

  82. So, back in verse 1 of chapter 6,

  83. if any one of you

  84. has a dispute.

  85. In other words,

  86. it is possible that saints

  87. fall out with each other.

  88. We are forgiven,

  89. but we still struggle

  90. with our sinful nature.

  91. We all mess up privately

  92. and publicly.

  93. So, in this church,

  94. in Corinth,

  95. and indeed this church,

  96. or indeed any church,

  97. we shouldn't be surprised

  98. to find saints

  99. who are sinning.

  100. And sometimes,

  101. there will be sinful disputes.

  102. Look at verse 1 of chapter 6.

  103. If any one of you

  104. has a dispute

  105. with another Christian,

  106. another believer,

  107. another saint,

  108. dare they take it

  109. before the ungodly

  110. for judgment

  111. instead of

  112. before the saints?

  113. Now, perhaps this dispute

  114. was over a land deal

  115. that went wrong.

  116. Maybe it was the promise

  117. of work between

  118. two believers

  119. that never got finished.

  120. Maybe it was two siblings

  121. who were in the church family

  122. and they were fighting

  123. over an inheritance.

  124. Whatever was going on,

  125. it was not just the fact

  126. that there was a dispute.

  127. It was the way

  128. they were handling

  129. the dispute.

  130. Rather than deal

  131. with the dispute themselves

  132. in love and forgiveness,

  133. look at verse 6.

  134. Instead,

  135. one brother goes to law

  136. against another.

  137. They've been checking out

  138. nowinnofee.com.

  139. Bring each other to court,

  140. suing and claiming damages.

  141. Instead of dealing

  142. with the matter

  143. as fellow saints,

  144. as fellow believers,

  145. look at verse 8.

  146. Instead,

  147. you yourselves

  148. cheat and do wrong

  149. and you do this

  150. to your brothers,

  151. to your fellow Christians.

  152. You see,

  153. what should have been

  154. worked out

  155. in a private,

  156. holy way

  157. has been done

  158. in a very public

  159. and unholy way.

  160. Not very saintly.

  161. Well,

  162. I hope that none of us

  163. ends up in court

  164. because somebody

  165. has brought us to court.

  166. But I think we can all

  167. fall out with each other,

  168. can't we?

  169. In our own relationships,

  170. our family relationships,

  171. even within the church family,

  172. we can fall out.

  173. She never asks

  174. how I am.

  175. After all that I've done

  176. for her,

  177. that's the last time

  178. I'm going to offer her help.

  179. He really annoys me

  180. the way he goes on.

  181. I'm never going

  182. to that study again.

  183. Well,

  184. they didn't vote

  185. the way I wanted them to.

  186. I'm not.

  187. I'm going to stop

  188. my involvement now.

  189. If they don't choose

  190. the elder that I want,

  191. then I'm leaving

  192. for another church.

  193. Is it possible

  194. that we could fall out

  195. with each other?

  196. I think it is sometimes.

  197. But saints who sin

  198. are also quick

  199. to deal with sin.

  200. Look again at verse 1.

  201. So if any of you

  202. has a dispute

  203. with another,

  204. dare we take it

  205. to the ungodly

  206. for judgment,

  207. those outside

  208. instead of before

  209. the saints?

  210. You see,

  211. rather than voice

  212. our complaints

  213. to those outside

  214. of the church,

  215. unbelievers,

  216. we should seek counsel

  217. from those inside

  218. the church,

  219. the true believers.

  220. Listen to this quote.

  221. I think it's helpful

  222. as we reflect

  223. on what it is

  224. to bring matters

  225. before the saints,

  226. before the church.

  227. Unrepentant sin

  228. and those who

  229. continually cherish it

  230. are like cancers

  231. that need to be removed

  232. if the body

  233. to us enjoy health

  234. and engage

  235. in productive work.

  236. confessing sins

  237. to one another

  238. makes us bring

  239. our sins

  240. into the light

  241. where they can be

  242. dealt with

  243. in the context

  244. of mutually

  245. sanctifying friendships

  246. in which people

  247. are strengthening

  248. each other

  249. through prayer,

  250. encouragement

  251. and application

  252. of the word.

  253. Bringing our sin

  254. into the light

  255. by confessing it

  256. in the context

  257. of personal

  258. accountability

  259. friendships

  260. helps to prevent

  261. the sins

  262. we struggle

  263. with now

  264. from becoming

  265. scandalous

  266. later.

  267. Churches grow

  268. when sin

  269. is nipped

  270. in the bud.

  271. Can we see

  272. how that relates

  273. to this particular

  274. context?

  275. You see,

  276. instead of running

  277. to those outside

  278. the church

  279. who agree with us

  280. and will always

  281. take our side

  282. if we search

  283. long enough

  284. we'll always find

  285. somebody who will

  286. accept our sin,

  287. we instead

  288. turn to those

  289. inside the church

  290. to one another

  291. to fellow believers

  292. who will help us

  293. fight our sin

  294. and deal with

  295. our sin.

  296. It's in the context

  297. of personal

  298. accountable

  299. friendships.

  300. We don't go

  301. to others

  302. we go to

  303. each other

  304. within the family

  305. of the church.

  306. And we're given

  307. three reasons

  308. for dealing

  309. with our sin

  310. urgently

  311. and quickly

  312. within the context

  313. of the church

  314. family.

  315. So here is the

  316. first reason

  317. why we need

  318. to deal

  319. with our sin.

  320. First,

  321. because saints

  322. will be judges

  323. of the world.

  324. Because saints

  325. will be judges

  326. of the world.

  327. Look at verse 2.

  328. Do you not know

  329. that the saints

  330. will judge the world?

  331. And if you are

  332. to judge the world,

  333. are you not

  334. competent to judge

  335. trivial cases?

  336. Now that should

  337. kind of jump out

  338. at us as something

  339. quite astounding.

  340. Because of our

  341. faith in Christ,

  342. we are bound up

  343. in what Christ

  344. will do.

  345. One day Christ

  346. is going to come

  347. and he's going

  348. to judge the world.

  349. He's going to bring

  350. about justice,

  351. correcting all wrongs.

  352. And incredibly,

  353. look at verse 2.

  354. Don't you know

  355. that the saints,

  356. the church,

  357. are going to be

  358. involved in that

  359. judgment?

  360. Not because we are

  361. perfect,

  362. but because

  363. we have been

  364. made holy

  365. by our repentance

  366. before God.

  367. We will be

  368. judging

  369. with Christ

  370. the whole world.

  371. Now if we're

  372. going to be judges

  373. of the whole world,

  374. don't you think

  375. that we can

  376. manage to judge

  377. sinful behaviour

  378. within the church

  379. family?

  380. One author

  381. likened this scenario

  382. to a high court

  383. judge dealing

  384. with a case

  385. of national

  386. consequence,

  387. who's ignoring

  388. a dispute

  389. between his two

  390. little children.

  391. You can picture

  392. the high court

  393. judge sitting

  394. at home in

  395. his armchair,

  396. smoking a pipe,

  397. reading the newspaper,

  398. and in the room

  399. beside him are his

  400. two children

  401. causing war.

  402. Don't you think

  403. a high court judge

  404. could deal with

  405. a simple matter

  406. of his two

  407. little children?

  408. Well in the same

  409. way,

  410. if we are going

  411. to be judging

  412. the world,

  413. don't you think

  414. we can deal

  415. with little matters

  416. of life here

  417. on earth?

  418. Look at verse 3,

  419. do you not know

  420. that we will judge

  421. angels?

  422. How much more

  423. the things of

  424. this life?

  425. The church,

  426. the believers

  427. are going to be

  428. at the centre

  429. of a universal

  430. judgement.

  431. So can't we

  432. deal with

  433. sinful squabbles

  434. and sinful

  435. behaviour now?

  436. Verse 4,

  437. therefore,

  438. if you have

  439. disputes about

  440. such matters,

  441. appoint as judges

  442. even men

  443. of little account

  444. or people

  445. who are just

  446. young in their

  447. faith

  448. who can settle

  449. these matters

  450. between you.

  451. So rather than

  452. turning to

  453. ungodly

  454. solicitors

  455. solicitors

  456. and counsellors,

  457. and I don't

  458. mean to say

  459. that solicitors

  460. and counsellors

  461. can't be

  462. Christians,

  463. of course

  464. they're good

  465. Christian

  466. solicitors

  467. and counsellors,

  468. but why turn

  469. to unbelievers?

  470. Turn to the

  471. church,

  472. to the saints?

  473. Because the

  474. church here

  475. is not just

  476. a gathering

  477. on a Sunday

  478. morning,

  479. the church

  480. is God's

  481. ordained way

  482. of dealing

  483. with our

  484. sinful hearts.

  485. This is the

  486. place where

  487. we keep

  488. each other

  489. accountable.

  490. This is where

  491. we confess

  492. our sins,

  493. where we

  494. build up

  495. support and

  496. point each

  497. other to

  498. Christ.

  499. That's why

  500. we always

  501. say,

  502. come along

  503. on Wednesdays.

  504. Why?

  505. So we can

  506. have accountability

  507. with each

  508. other.

  509. The church,

  510. the saints,

  511. are God's

  512. means of

  513. healing damaged

  514. relationships

  515. and restoring

  516. our broken

  517. lives.

  518. so we

  519. deal with

  520. our sin

  521. because we

  522. will be

  523. judges of

  524. the world.

  525. The second

  526. reason is we

  527. deal with our

  528. sin within

  529. the church

  530. because we

  531. are witnesses

  532. to the world.

  533. Look at

  534. verse 6.

  535. You see this

  536. church here that

  537. we're reading

  538. about in

  539. Corinth.

  540. instead,

  541. we're told,

  542. one brother

  543. goes to

  544. law against

  545. another and

  546. this is in

  547. front of

  548. unbelievers.

  549. What should

  550. have been

  551. worked out in

  552. a private

  553. holy way has

  554. been done in

  555. a public

  556. unholy way.

  557. Rather than

  558. the church

  559. getting alongside

  560. and praying and

  561. supporting for

  562. one another,

  563. the community

  564. is looking in,

  565. laughing and

  566. joking at the

  567. church.

  568. church.

  569. They're reading

  570. about the

  571. church on the

  572. back pages of

  573. their newspaper.

  574. Look at this

  575. event.

  576. Did you see

  577. what's happening?

  578. Verse 7.

  579. The very fact

  580. that you have

  581. lawsuits among

  582. you means that

  583. you've been

  584. completely defeated

  585. already.

  586. In other words,

  587. your witness to

  588. the wider

  589. community is a

  590. mess.

  591. Why not

  592. rather be

  593. wronged?

  594. Why not

  595. rather be

  596. cheated?

  597. You see,

  598. the church

  599. is meant to

  600. be a witness,

  601. this visible

  602. demonstration to

  603. the world and

  604. the community

  605. around us of

  606. the cross of

  607. reconciliation.

  608. Because when

  609. Jesus died on

  610. the cross,

  611. he brought

  612. about our

  613. reconciliation to

  614. God.

  615. Jesus, as he

  616. died on the

  617. cross with his

  618. arms hung on

  619. the cross,

  620. took our

  621. wrongs on

  622. himself and

  623. was willing to

  624. be treated

  625. as a

  626. wrongdoer for

  627. us.

  628. He was

  629. willing to

  630. be cheated

  631. for us.

  632. Why?

  633. So that

  634. people like

  635. you and me

  636. could be

  637. forgiven and

  638. welcomed and

  639. accepted and

  640. reconciled to

  641. God.

  642. He did not

  643. treat us as

  644. our sins

  645. deserve so

  646. that we might

  647. be treasured

  648. as his

  649. child.

  650. Now,

  651. if God

  652. has healed

  653. and restored

  654. our relationship

  655. with him,

  656. shouldn't the

  657. church family

  658. be a place

  659. where our

  660. relationships are

  661. also healed

  662. and restored?

  663. What does it

  664. look like if

  665. we're saying

  666. to people,

  667. Christ reconciles

  668. sinners,

  669. Christ makes it

  670. possible for us

  671. to be friends

  672. with God,

  673. when we can't

  674. be reconciled

  675. to each other?

  676. What are we

  677. saying?

  678. Well, we're just

  679. acting as

  680. hypocrites.

  681. Verse 8,

  682. instead,

  683. you yourselves

  684. cheat and

  685. do wrong

  686. and you do

  687. this to

  688. your brothers.

  689. Can you

  690. see in the

  691. context here

  692. of what's

  693. going on,

  694. how serious

  695. it is when

  696. we don't

  697. deal with

  698. sin in the

  699. right way?

  700. When we

  701. take it out

  702. into the

  703. public realm,

  704. we push

  705. people away

  706. from Christ

  707. rather than

  708. draw them

  709. in towards

  710. Christ.

  711. Christ.

  712. And again,

  713. we mightn't

  714. be taking

  715. people to

  716. court or

  717. we mightn't

  718. be writing

  719. about it

  720. in the

  721. newspaper,

  722. but we

  723. can sure

  724. gossip to

  725. our friends

  726. and talk

  727. about other

  728. people behind

  729. their backs.

  730. What are we

  731. saying?

  732. We're dragging

  733. Christ through

  734. the dirt.

  735. But,

  736. when we

  737. apply the

  738. work of

  739. Christ to

  740. our lives,

  741. the church

  742. becomes this

  743. visible

  744. demonstration of

  745. Christ and

  746. his cross.

  747. As people

  748. look in,

  749. they see the

  750. power of

  751. Christ at

  752. work within

  753. our lives.

  754. As they

  755. look amongst

  756. us,

  757. they see

  758. relationships

  759. that have

  760. been healed

  761. between one

  762. and another.

  763. They see

  764. friendships that

  765. have been

  766. renewed.

  767. They see

  768. family relationships

  769. that have been

  770. broken for

  771. years, put

  772. back together

  773. again.

  774. They see

  775. wrongs

  776. forgiven.

  777. Instead of

  778. revenge,

  779. they see

  780. grace and

  781. love.

  782. Now,

  783. doesn't that

  784. look like

  785. something beautiful

  786. to you?

  787. Isn't that

  788. something very

  789. attractive where

  790. relationships are

  791. healed and

  792. friendships

  793. renewed?

  794. We are

  795. witnesses to

  796. the world as

  797. we apply the

  798. gospel to our

  799. lives and

  800. live out what

  801. it is to

  802. forgive and

  803. work with

  804. each other.

  805. So we deal

  806. quickly with

  807. our sin and

  808. urgently to

  809. reflect the

  810. beauty of

  811. Christ to

  812. the world

  813. around us.

  814. sins.

  815. So we

  816. deal with

  817. sin because

  818. we'll be

  819. judges of

  820. the world

  821. and because

  822. we are

  823. witnesses to

  824. the world

  825. and third

  826. because we

  827. are to be

  828. holy in

  829. the world.

  830. You see,

  831. there is a

  832. serious matter

  833. to all of

  834. this.

  835. There's a

  836. serious matter

  837. when we

  838. don't deal

  839. with disputes

  840. or any

  841. other kind

  842. of sin.

  843. Look at

  844. what it is

  845. in verse

  846. nine.

  847. Do you

  848. not know

  849. that the

  850. wicked will

  851. not inherit

  852. the kingdom

  853. of God?

  854. The wicked

  855. there being

  856. the unrepentant.

  857. Don't you

  858. realise that

  859. unless you

  860. face up to

  861. your sin,

  862. you too

  863. will be

  864. judged.

  865. Look at the

  866. rest of

  867. verse nine.

  868. Do not be

  869. deceived.

  870. Don't think

  871. that God is

  872. just going to

  873. overlook it and

  874. say,

  875. it really

  876. doesn't

  877. matter how

  878. you behave,

  879. it's all

  880. right.

  881. No, it

  882. does matter.

  883. Do not

  884. be deceived.

  885. Neither

  886. the sexually

  887. immoral,

  888. nor

  889. idolaters,

  890. nor

  891. adulterers,

  892. nor male

  893. prostitutes,

  894. nor homosexual

  895. offenders,

  896. nor thieves,

  897. nor the

  898. greedy,

  899. nor drunkards,

  900. nor slanderers,

  901. nor swindlers

  902. will inherit

  903. the kingdom

  904. of God.

  905. God.

  906. Now, the

  907. shocking thing

  908. is, as I

  909. read through

  910. that list,

  911. is not that

  912. these are kind

  913. of big

  914. sins,

  915. but if we

  916. look and read

  917. carefully enough,

  918. we're all in

  919. that list,

  920. in one way

  921. or another.

  922. But this is not

  923. talking about

  924. people who are

  925. repenting of

  926. their sin,

  927. and people who

  928. are seeking to

  929. change their

  930. lives.

  931. This is

  932. addressing those

  933. who claim to

  934. be followers of

  935. Jesus, but

  936. continually persist

  937. in their sinful

  938. behaviour.

  939. The reality is

  940. those who claim

  941. to be followers

  942. of Jesus, but

  943. show no sign

  944. of change,

  945. no desire for

  946. accountability

  947. within the

  948. church family,

  949. there is no

  950. genuine repentance,

  951. look what it

  952. says at the end

  953. of verse 11,

  954. will not

  955. inherit the

  956. kingdom of

  957. God.

  958. The evidence

  959. is simply

  960. not there.

  961. If we are not

  962. taking sin

  963. seriously, if we

  964. are not dealing

  965. with it in our

  966. lives, then we

  967. do not inherit

  968. the kingdom of

  969. God.

  970. It's a serious

  971. matter.

  972. So if that's

  973. you here this

  974. morning, if

  975. there is sin

  976. that is undealt

  977. with, do

  978. not leave

  979. without getting

  980. your life right

  981. with God.

  982. Do not leave

  983. without talking

  984. to another

  985. believer and

  986. seeking their

  987. help and

  988. support for

  989. the things that

  990. you struggle

  991. with in your

  992. life.

  993. But this is

  994. not the full

  995. story.

  996. Look at

  997. verse 11.

  998. verse 11.

  999. And that

  1000. is what

  1001. some of you

  1002. were.

  1003. That is what

  1004. some of you

  1005. were.

  1006. You see, we

  1007. all have a

  1008. past, don't

  1009. we?

  1010. We've all

  1011. fallen and

  1012. failed.

  1013. We've all

  1014. got skeletons

  1015. in the

  1016. cupboard that

  1017. we don't

  1018. want anybody

  1019. to know

  1020. about.

  1021. We've all

  1022. sinned in

  1023. all kinds

  1024. of different

  1025. ways.

  1026. But, look

  1027. at the rest

  1028. of verse 11,

  1029. sinned, but

  1030. you were

  1031. washed.

  1032. You've been

  1033. made clean

  1034. before God.

  1035. Jesus has

  1036. taken your

  1037. sin and

  1038. he's washed

  1039. you and

  1040. cleaned you

  1041. on the

  1042. inside.

  1043. But you

  1044. were sanctified.

  1045. You've now

  1046. been set

  1047. apart for

  1048. God, to

  1049. live for

  1050. God and

  1051. for his

  1052. desires.

  1053. But you

  1054. are now

  1055. justified.

  1056. You've been

  1057. put right

  1058. with God

  1059. in that

  1060. relationship

  1061. where you

  1062. are now

  1063. his child

  1064. and God

  1065. is your

  1066. father.

  1067. And all

  1068. of this

  1069. in the

  1070. name of

  1071. the Lord

  1072. Jesus

  1073. Christ and

  1074. by the

  1075. spirit of

  1076. our God.

  1077. Isn't

  1078. that incredible?

  1079. Washed and

  1080. sanctified and

  1081. justified.

  1082. But notice

  1083. the change

  1084. here that's

  1085. taken place.

  1086. Look at

  1087. verse 11

  1088. again.

  1089. That is

  1090. what some

  1091. of you

  1092. were.

  1093. This is

  1094. the kind

  1095. of life

  1096. you used

  1097. to live.

  1098. This is

  1099. the way

  1100. you were.

  1101. So this

  1102. church was

  1103. made up

  1104. of people

  1105. who were

  1106. sexually

  1107. immoral,

  1108. adulterers,

  1109. male prostitutes,

  1110. homosexual offenders,

  1111. thieves, greedy

  1112. drunkards.

  1113. This church

  1114. in Corinth was

  1115. full of all

  1116. these kinds

  1117. of people,

  1118. but now

  1119. they've been

  1120. changed.

  1121. They've been

  1122. transformed

  1123. by the

  1124. grace of

  1125. God.

  1126. And now

  1127. they live

  1128. a new

  1129. life

  1130. completely.

  1131. Not that

  1132. they don't

  1133. struggle with

  1134. their sins,

  1135. they're still

  1136. struggling and

  1137. still working

  1138. it out,

  1139. and they're

  1140. bringing it

  1141. before God,

  1142. and they're

  1143. working it,

  1144. and they're

  1145. trying,

  1146. and they're

  1147. accountable to

  1148. one another.

  1149. That's

  1150. the difference.

  1151. Again,

  1152. look at

  1153. verse 11.

  1154. To be

  1155. sanctified

  1156. means to

  1157. be set

  1158. apart for

  1159. God.

  1160. You've

  1161. now changed

  1162. your direction

  1163. of life.

  1164. You're no

  1165. longer seeking

  1166. to go this

  1167. way.

  1168. You are

  1169. now seeking

  1170. to live

  1171. God's way,

  1172. a holy

  1173. life.

  1174. no longer

  1175. ignoring

  1176. sin,

  1177. but dealing

  1178. with it

  1179. in your

  1180. life.

  1181. No longer

  1182. tolerant

  1183. with sin,

  1184. but repentant.

  1185. You see,

  1186. we are a

  1187. church that

  1188. quickly and

  1189. urgently deals

  1190. with our sin

  1191. because we

  1192. have been

  1193. made the

  1194. holy people

  1195. of God.

  1196. It's not

  1197. saying we

  1198. are the

  1199. perfect people

  1200. of God,

  1201. but we're

  1202. working on

  1203. it.

  1204. with one

  1205. another,

  1206. accountable

  1207. to each

  1208. other,

  1209. going to

  1210. the

  1211. saints.

  1212. So let

  1213. me ask

  1214. the question

  1215. that we

  1216. started with

  1217. this morning.

  1218. Are you

  1219. a saint

  1220. or are you

  1221. a sinner?

  1222. Well,

  1223. if we are

  1224. Christians,

  1225. we're both,

  1226. aren't we?

  1227. We are saints

  1228. who sin.

  1229. But the

  1230. saints who

  1231. sin are

  1232. those who

  1233. deal with

  1234. their sin.

  1235. Instead of

  1236. running to

  1237. those outside

  1238. the church

  1239. who accept

  1240. our sin

  1241. and who

  1242. will agree

  1243. with us

  1244. and take

  1245. our side,

  1246. we seek

  1247. support from

  1248. those inside

  1249. the church,

  1250. the saints,

  1251. those who

  1252. will help

  1253. us fight

  1254. our sin,

  1255. those who

  1256. will confront

  1257. us and hold

  1258. us accountable.

  1259. And it's

  1260. within the

  1261. community of

  1262. the church

  1263. family where

  1264. we begin to

  1265. confess our

  1266. sins to

  1267. each other,

  1268. where we

  1269. seek that

  1270. personal support,

  1271. where together

  1272. we walk

  1273. alongside each

  1274. other,

  1275. hand in

  1276. hand,

  1277. not looking

  1278. down in

  1279. superiority,

  1280. but walking

  1281. as equals

  1282. towards the

  1283. cross of

  1284. Christ,

  1285. seeking

  1286. forgiveness

  1287. for all

  1288. of our

  1289. lives.

  1290. We are

  1291. saints.

  1292. but sadly

  1293. we sin.

  1294. But we're

  1295. saints who

  1296. deal with

  1297. our sin.

  1298. Let's pray

  1299. together.

  1300. Our

  1301. Father God,

  1302. we thank

  1303. you that

  1304. when you

  1305. show us

  1306. our sin,

  1307. we are

  1308. not in

  1309. despair,

  1310. for we

  1311. have a

  1312. saviour,

  1313. the Lord

  1314. Jesus Christ,

  1315. who died

  1316. for us

  1317. on the

  1318. cross,

  1319. who has

  1320. washed

  1321. us,

  1322. who has

  1323. sanctified

  1324. us,

  1325. who has

  1326. justified

  1327. us.

  1328. We thank

  1329. you that

  1330. we are

  1331. now your

  1332. children through

  1333. faith,

  1334. faith,

  1335. and we

  1336. ask for

  1337. the help

  1338. of your

  1339. ongoing

  1340. work,

  1341. the power

  1342. of your

  1343. Holy Spirit

  1344. to deal

  1345. with our

  1346. sin,

  1347. that we

  1348. might become

  1349. the Holy

  1350. Church of

  1351. God.

  1352. We thank you

  1353. for one

  1354. another.

  1355. We thank you

  1356. for the people

  1357. that you have

  1358. placed around

  1359. us,

  1360. the people

  1361. sitting next

  1362. to us,

  1363. in front of

  1364. us,

  1365. and all

  1366. around,

  1367. your fellow

  1368. saints,

  1369. to support

  1370. us and to

  1371. encourage us.

  1372. We thank

  1373. you,

  1374. Father,

  1375. for your

  1376. church,

  1377. and for

  1378. your family.

  1379. In Jesus'

  1380. name we all

  1381. pray.

  1382. Amen.

  1383. We're going

  1384. to sing

  1385. together.

  1386. If you

  1387. know the

  1388. forgiveness

  1389. of the

  1390. Lord Jesus

  1391. Christ,

  1392. then what

  1393. can we

  1394. say then

  1395. to say

  1396. thank you

  1397. for saving

  1398. me.

  1399. You

  1400. took

  1401. me

  1402. to

  1403. me.
