  1. Oh yes.

  2. So Alex is going to be speaking from Ephesians chapter 6.

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  3. And if you have the Red Church Bibles, it's on page 1177.

  4. 1177.

  5. And I'll read and Alex can come up then.

  6. We're going to start at verse 10.

  7. And we'll finish then at verse 18.

  8. Ephesians chapter 6 verse 10.

    Ephesians 6:10

  9. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

  10. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

  11. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

  12. Therefore, put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.

  13. And after you have done everything, to stand.

  14. Stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

  15. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

  16. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  17. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

  18. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

  19. Thanks, Alex.

  20. I love the way the angels are applauding already.

  21. The reading of God's word, not what I'm going to say in the...

  22. So, I didn't get to see the new Power Rangers movie.

  23. But I too wanted superhero powers, superpowers.

  24. As a child, I wanted to have an invisible cloak, or at least the power to make myself invisible.

  25. I would imagine sneaking around the house, or escaping from trouble, or sneaking up on my brother and sister to try and scare them.

  26. If I was a superhero, I'd like to be Superman.

  27. With the extra superpower of invisibility.

  28. Actually, maybe come to think of this, maybe the best superpower wouldn't be invisibility, but invincibility.

  29. Would you like to be invincible?

  30. Would you like to be invincible?

  31. To be able to withstand the greatest trials of life?

  32. To have your arch nemesis blast you with kryptonite and still survive unscathed?

  33. To be able to survive any battle, or opposition, or sickness.

  34. To be able to live forever.

  35. To be invincible.

  36. Well, unlike being a superhero, which Connor is actually impossible, invincibility is possible.

  37. Our passage this morning is going to show us how we can be invincible.

  38. As we know, we all enter the world completely helpless, totally dependent on someone to care for us, usually our parents.

  39. We are small and fragile and vulnerable.

  40. Vulnerable to any attack from either the weather, or a person, or disease.

  41. Even gravity causes us problems at some stage.

  42. As we grow up into adults, we continue to be vulnerable.

  43. Even if we get strong and fit and healthy, we remain vulnerable, because no matter how strong, or how fit, or how healthy we get, we will eventually die.

  44. That's pretty gloomy, isn't it?

  45. Well, maybe perhaps we will get weak, and old, and slow, and our health will deteriorate.

  46. And then we will die.

  47. It is gloomy.

  48. It's not very superhero-ish.

  49. But it's also true.

  50. Back in Genesis chapter 2, verse 17, God said to Adam, the first man,

    Genesis 2:17

  51. not to eat from a certain tree in the garden that God had provided for him.

  52. For as God said, when you eat from it, you will surely die.

  53. As we know from the story, the serpent came along and said,

  54. you'll not surely die.

  55. For God knows that when you eat, your eyes will be opened,

  56. and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

  57. So right from the start,

  58. we have seen a battle between Satan, the serpent, and God.

  59. Good versus evil.

  60. The life we were given versus the death we have chosen through our rebellion and through our sin.

  61. You see, invincibility was what we were created for.

  62. I don't think I need to tell you the effects of this rebellion are still being felt.

  63. Death comes to us all.

  64. In the meantime, life is hard.

  65. There's a battle going on.

  66. John MacArthur, in his commentary on the New Testament,

  67. says that the Christian life is a battle.

  68. It's warfare on a grand scale.

  69. Because when God begins to bless,

  70. Satan begins to attack.

  71. That's what happened in the garden with Adam and Eve.

  72. God blessed and Satan began to attack.

  73. Jesus himself, at the beginning of his ministry on earth,

  74. had a 40-day battle with Satan in the wilderness.

  75. The end of his earthly ministry in the Garden of Gethsemane,

  76. Satan had another go at him,

  77. to the extent that Jesus was sweating drops of blood.

  78. Here in Ephesians,

  79. the Ephesian church also had its problems.

  80. Now we could say on one hand that Jesus' problem

  81. was that the Jews wanted to kill him.

  82. But actually the real battle was much bigger than that.

  83. This battle was on a cosmic scale.

  84. This was Satan's big move.

  85. His opportunity to dethrone Jesus as king.

  86. Now rather than getting bogged down in the minutiae of Ephesians today,

  87. and get bogged down in the issues of the occult and church unity,

  88. which were the issues,

  89. and there was other issues going on in the Ephesian church at the time.

  90. But today, let's broadly say that the Ephesians too had their battles,

  91. and it was ultimately Satan and his schemes at work.

  92. Let's open up God's word.

  93. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 10 through to 18.

    Ephesians 6:10

  94. It's on page 1177.

  95. Ephesians chapter 6, on page 1177.

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  96. So, look there at verse 11 if you would.

  97. Put on the full armour of God,

  98. so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

  99. Paul calls for them,

  100. for the Ephesians, for the believers in Ephesus,

  101. to stand against the devil's schemes.

  102. Well, how would you feel about going to war against the devil?

  103. It's a daunting prospect, isn't it?

  104. I don't think I could do it with sword and shield,

  105. or even hand grenades and machine guns, for that matter.

  106. Paul isn't trying to overwhelm us here with dismay,

  107. but rather to encourage us.

  108. Our job isn't to go to war,

  109. but rather to stand firm.

  110. Also, there is an encouragement in 2 Chronicles,

    2 Chronicles 20:15

  111. chapter 20, verse 15.

  112. You can just listen.

  113. It's short.

  114. This is what the Lord says to you.

  115. Do not be afraid or discouraged

  116. because of this vast army,

  117. for the battle is not yours,

  118. but God's.

  119. Paul starts this passage

  120. with the word,

  121. finally.

  122. It's a call to sit up and listen.

  123. All that he has been saying

  124. in the previous five chapters

  125. has been leading to this point.

  126. These are his parting words to the believers,

  127. and so they must be important.

  128. It brings all that he has been saying together.

  129. So we would do well

  130. to sit up and listen up.

  131. Back in Ephesians, chapter 1,

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  132. he begins the letter

  133. by giving thanks to

  134. God our Father

  135. and the Lord Jesus Christ,

  136. who has blessed us

  137. with every spiritual blessing

  138. in Christ.

  139. He's speaking to the believers in Ephesus,

  140. and so this message is also for us

  141. in every Christ-following church.

  142. He continues in chapter 1, verse 4,

  143. that we are chosen,

  144. predestined,

  145. and adopted as God's children.

  146. We were lavished with his grace,

  147. redeemed and forgiven,

  148. given the mystery of his will.

  149. We are receivers of an inheritance.

  150. We've been sealed with the Holy Spirit,

  151. and going on in chapter 2,

  152. we are greatly loved by God.

  153. We have been made alive with new life,

  154. created by him

  155. for doing good works,

  156. and we've been given God's own peace.

  157. The list goes on,

  158. reminding them of the blessings

  159. that they have as saints

  160. or as followers of Jesus,

  161. the guarantee

  162. that they have been made citizens

  163. of God's kingdom

  164. and are members of his family.

  165. Chapter 3 explains that

  166. access has been given to God the Father.

  167. They have been made powerful

  168. beyond their imagination

  169. through him,

  170. through Christ.

  171. They are individually

  172. and uniquely gifted

  173. by the Christ,

  174. in chapter 4.

  175. Blessed with gifted leaders

  176. to equip them in ministry work,

  177. given a new self

  178. in God's holy likeness.

  179. They have been made light

  180. in the darkness,

  181. in chapter 5.

  182. Offered the fullness

  183. of the Holy Spirit,

  184. given the resources

  185. and instructions

  186. to make all relationships

  187. with others

  188. what God intends them to be.

  189. And finally,

  190. we come to today.

  191. Here in chapter 6,

  192. they are given God's

  193. full armour

  194. to make them invincible

  195. against Satan

  196. and his demonic forces.

  197. Verse 10,

  198. Finally,

  199. be strong in the Lord

  200. and in his mighty power.

  201. Or as other versions say,

  202. be strengthened by the Lord.

  203. It is the Lord

  204. who strengthens us.

  205. It is only with his strength

  206. that we can fight the opposition

  207. or stand firm against him.

  208. The battles we face

  209. are real

  210. and daily.

  211. We might have health battles.

  212. We might have

  213. mental health battles.

  214. We might have

  215. relational battles.

  216. We might have

  217. marital battles.

  218. We might have

  219. work battles,

  220. personal battles

  221. like

  222. self-confidence issues

  223. or self-esteem.

  224. Look at verse 12.

  225. For our struggle

  226. is not against flesh

  227. and blood

  228. but against the rulers,

  229. against the authorities

  230. and against the powers

  231. of this dark world

  232. and against the spiritual

  233. forces of evil

  234. in the heavenly realms.

  235. So,

  236. our real

  237. battles

  238. of flesh

  239. and blood

  240. are not to be

  241. underestimated.

  242. They are real.

  243. But Paul is saying here

  244. that our battles

  245. are even bigger

  246. on a cosmic scale.

  247. They are against

  248. the rulers

  249. and authorities,

  250. against the powers

  251. of this dark world

  252. and against the

  253. spiritual forces

  254. of evil

  255. in the heavenly realms

  256. who are fighting

  257. for our very souls.

  258. This battle

  259. is the devil

  260. wanting your soul.

  261. Now,

  262. I realise that

  263. to keep going

  264. with the superhero theme,

  265. I realise that

  266. this sounds like

  267. something out of

  268. Star Wars.

  269. Cosmic forces

  270. and spiritual battles.

  271. So,

  272. maybe we just need

  273. a lightsaber

  274. and the force

  275. to help us out.

  276. Well,

  277. that's not what

  278. Paul is saying.

  279. This battle,

  280. as we've seen,

  281. is not a physical battle

  282. but it's a bigger battle

  283. of the mind.

  284. So,

  285. to be ready for battle

  286. we must be ready

  287. in our minds.

  288. By putting on

  289. the armour of God

  290. we are able to stand

  291. firm in the battle.

  292. With God's armour

  293. we are invincible.

  294. No power of darkness,

  295. no scheme of the devil,

  296. no spiritual force

  297. of evil

  298. can penetrate us

  299. with God's armour on.

  300. Who wants invincibility?

  301. Well,

  302. follow with me

  303. as we continue

  304. to learn

  305. how to stand firm

  306. in his armour

  307. with his power.

  308. Verse 13,

  309. therefore,

  310. put on

  311. the full armour

  312. of God

  313. so that when

  314. the day of evil

  315. comes

  316. you may be able

  317. to stand

  318. your ground

  319. and after you have

  320. done everything

  321. to stand.

  322. His armour

  323. protects

  324. when we put it on

  325. and take it up

  326. and helps us

  327. to stand firm.

  328. So,

  329. Paul says

  330. we need to put on

  331. put on

  332. the belt of truth.

  333. Verse 14,

  334. stand firm then

  335. with the belt of truth

  336. buckled round your waist

  337. with the breastplate

  338. of righteousness

  339. in place.

  340. Paul wrote this letter

  341. in a Roman prison

  342. and so

  343. as he was surrounded

  344. by Roman soldiers

  345. maybe as he was

  346. looking at the soldiers

  347. and what they were wearing

  348. maybe that was

  349. the inspiration

  350. for this imagery.

  351. Roman soldiers

  352. always wore a tunic

  353. an outer garment

  354. that served

  355. as his main clothes.

  356. It was a large

  357. square piece

  358. of material

  359. with holes cut out

  360. for the head

  361. and the arms

  362. and it was hung loosely

  363. over the soldier's body.

  364. In battle

  365. most combat

  366. was hand to hand

  367. and so a loose tunic

  368. was dangerous

  369. so it could be grabbed

  370. or cut easily.

  371. So before battle

  372. the soldier

  373. would carefully

  374. pull up

  375. his loose bits

  376. of material

  377. and tuck them

  378. into his big leather belt

  379. to stay safe.

  380. This is where we get

  381. the term

  382. girding up your loins.

  383. Girding up your loins

  384. means to be ready.

  385. The soldier

  386. who was serious

  387. about fighting

  388. was sure to secure

  389. his tunic

  390. with his belt.

  391. Be ready.

  392. But it's the belt

  393. of truth

  394. that we are

  395. to prepare

  396. ourselves with.

  397. The belt

  398. of truth

  399. it's the content

  400. of God's truth.

  401. It's essential

  402. for the believer

  403. in their battle

  404. against the schemes

  405. of Satan.

  406. The false schemes

  407. of Satan

  408. like when he tempted

  409. Jesus in the wilderness.

  410. They can only be

  411. successfully encountered

  412. with the truth

  413. of the word

  414. of God.

  415. And we'll be looking

  416. at that again later.

  417. Next Paul

  418. tells us

  419. to put on

  420. the breastplate

  421. of righteousness.

  422. Stand firm then

  423. 14

  424. with the belt

  425. of truth

  426. buckled round

  427. your waist

  428. with the breastplate

  429. of righteousness

  430. in place.

  431. The breastplate

  432. of righteousness.

  433. No Roman soldier

  434. would ever go into

  435. battle without

  436. his breastplate.

  437. It was a heavy

  438. sleeveless piece

  439. of either linen

  440. or leather

  441. that would cover

  442. his whole torso.

  443. Onto it

  444. were sewn

  445. overlapping slices

  446. of animal hooves

  447. or horns

  448. or pieces of metal

  449. a little bit like

  450. a suit of armour

  451. for the torso.

  452. Its purpose

  453. I hope was obvious

  454. it was to protect

  455. the heart

  456. and lungs

  457. intestines

  458. and other vital organs.

  459. In ancient

  460. Jewish thinking

  461. the heart

  462. represented the mind

  463. and the will.

  464. The bowels

  465. were considered

  466. the seat of emotions

  467. and feelings.

  468. The mind

  469. and emotions

  470. are the two areas

  471. where Satan

  472. most fiercely

  473. attacks believers.

  474. He tries to create

  475. in us

  476. a certain

  477. worldview

  478. a sinful environment

  479. by which he tempts us

  480. to think wrong thoughts

  481. and feel wrong emotions.

  482. He wants to flood

  483. our minds

  484. with false doctrines

  485. with false truths

  486. false information

  487. just to confuse us.

  488. He also wants to confuse

  489. our emotions

  490. and thereby

  491. pervert our affections

  492. morals

  493. loyalties

  494. goals

  495. and commitments.

  496. He wants to take

  497. God's word

  498. from our minds

  499. and replace it

  500. with his own

  501. perverse ideas.

  502. He wants to take

  503. our pure living

  504. and replace it

  505. with immorality

  506. with greed

  507. with envy

  508. with hate

  509. and selfishness

  510. addiction

  511. pornography

  512. and every other

  513. kind of vice.

  514. He wants us

  515. to laugh at sin

  516. rather than

  517. repent of it

  518. or even mourn

  519. over it.

  520. He wants us

  521. to rationalize it

  522. and make it okay

  523. rather than

  524. to confess it

  525. and bring it

  526. to the Lord

  527. for forgiveness.

  528. He seduces us

  529. to become

  530. so immune

  531. to sin

  532. in and around us

  533. that it no longer

  534. bothers us.

  535. Put on the breastplate

  536. of righteousness.

  537. Don't let these things

  538. happen to you.

  539. Put on

  540. the breastplate

  541. of righteousness.

  542. Righteousness

  543. is to be taken

  544. and wrapped around us

  545. like the breastplate

  546. protecting our hearts

  547. and our minds.

  548. Righteousness.

  549. What do I mean by that?

  550. Well let me start

  551. by saying

  552. what I don't mean.

  553. I don't mean

  554. self-righteousness.

  555. This is not

  556. righteousness at all

  557. but it's

  558. seen at its very worst.

  559. Self-righteousness

  560. is the kind

  561. of righteousness

  562. that thinks

  563. that our own character

  564. or our own behaviour

  565. or accomplishments

  566. please God

  567. and will bring

  568. his reward.

  569. Nothing you can do

  570. can make God

  571. love you

  572. more

  573. than he already does.

  574. Self-righteousness

  575. will actually

  576. keep a believer

  577. out of the glorious

  578. power of fellowship

  579. with God

  580. and it will keep

  581. an unbeliever

  582. out of his kingdom.

  583. When I say

  584. righteousness

  585. neither do I mean

  586. imputed righteousness.

  587. Big word.

  588. Imputed.

  589. What does that mean?

  590. Let me try

  591. and explain.

  592. Imputed righteousness

  593. is the righteousness

  594. that God

  595. applies to

  596. every Christian's

  597. account the moment

  598. they follow him.

  599. Let me say that again.

  600. Imputed righteousness

  601. is the righteousness

  602. that God

  603. applies to

  604. every Christian's

  605. account

  606. the moment

  607. they follow him.

  608. 2 Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention

  609. chapter 5

  610. 21

  611. says that

  612. God made

  613. Christ

  614. who knew

  615. no sin

  616. to be sin

  617. on our behalf

  618. that we might

  619. become the

  620. righteousness

  621. righteousness

  622. of God

  623. in him.

  624. So our

  625. imputed righteousness

  626. is what

  627. God gives us.

  628. We cannot put on

  629. what God

  630. has already

  631. given us.

  632. God's imputed

  633. righteousness

  634. is the basis

  635. of our Christian

  636. life and our

  637. Christian living.

  638. It protects us

  639. from hell

  640. but it does not

  641. in itself

  642. protect us

  643. from Satan

  644. in this present

  645. life.

  646. The breastplate

  647. of righteousness

  648. that we put on

  649. as spiritual

  650. armour against

  651. our adversary

  652. is the

  653. practical

  654. righteousness

  655. of a life

  656. lived in

  657. obedience

  658. to God's

  659. word.

  660. So to try and

  661. summarise

  662. to put on

  663. the breastplate

  664. of righteousness

  665. is to live

  666. daily

  667. moment by

  668. moment

  669. obedience

  670. to our

  671. heavenly father.

  672. power.

  673. This part

  674. of God's

  675. armour is

  676. holy living

  677. for which

  678. God supplies

  679. the standard

  680. and the power

  681. but for which

  682. we must

  683. supply the

  684. willingness.

  685. God himself

  686. puts on

  687. our imputed

  688. righteousness

  689. but we

  690. must put on

  691. our practical

  692. righteousness.

  693. Verse 15

  694. whatever sport

  695. or activity

  696. these days

  697. there is

  698. always special

  699. footwear

  700. to make

  701. the task

  702. more comfortable

  703. safer and

  704. practical.

  705. Likewise

  706. a soldier's

  707. footwear

  708. was also

  709. important

  710. because

  711. very often

  712. his very

  713. life

  714. would depend

  715. on it

  716. as he

  717. walked

  718. or

  719. marched

  720. on dusty

  721. roads

  722. or over

  723. jagged

  724. rocks

  725. or through

  726. rivers

  727. or thorns

  728. a soldier

  729. whose feet

  730. were blistered

  731. or cut

  732. or swollen

  733. could not

  734. fight well

  735. and may not

  736. even be able

  737. to stand up

  738. to defend

  739. himself.

  740. A Roman

  741. soldier's

  742. shoes

  743. or boots

  744. were made

  745. tough and

  746. durable

  747. for these

  748. very reasons

  749. but they

  750. were also

  751. impregnated

  752. with little

  753. bits of

  754. metal

  755. or nails

  756. so that

  757. they would

  758. have better

  759. grip

  760. as they

  761. climbed

  762. slippery

  763. surfaces

  764. and greater

  765. stability

  766. as they

  767. fought.

  768. A Christian's

  769. spiritual footwear

  770. is just

  771. as important.

  772. If we

  773. have put

  774. on the

  775. belt of

  776. truth

  777. and the

  778. breastplate

  779. of

  780. righteousness

  781. but not

  782. fitted our

  783. feet with

  784. the preparation

  785. of the

  786. gospel

  787. of peace

  788. we are

  789. destined

  790. to stumble

  791. fall

  792. or slip

  793. and suffer

  794. many defeats.

  795. The gospel

  796. of peace

  797. is the

  798. truth

  799. that in

  800. Christ we

  801. are now at

  802. peace with

  803. God

  804. and are

  805. one with

  806. him.

  807. So when

  808. our feet

  809. are ready

  810. with the

  811. gospel of

  812. peace we

  813. stand with

  814. the confidence

  815. of God's

  816. love for

  817. us,

  818. his union

  819. with us

  820. and his

  821. commitment

  822. to fight

  823. for us.

  824. The believer

  825. who stands

  826. in the

  827. Lord's power

  828. need not

  829. fear any

  830. enemy,

  831. not even

  832. Satan

  833. himself.

  834. When the

  835. attack comes

  836. our feet

  837. are rooted

  838. firmly on

  839. the solid

  840. ground of

  841. the gospel

  842. of peace.

  843. This gospel

  844. was once

  845. our enemy

  846. when it

  847. separated us

  848. from God

  849. but has

  850. become our

  851. defender

  852. because now

  853. Jesus has

  854. taken our

  855. place and

  856. we are

  857. protected by

  858. a loving

  859. heavenly

  860. father.

  861. We who

  862. were once

  863. his enemies

  864. are now

  865. his children

  866. and he

  867. offers us

  868. his full

  869. resources

  870. to be

  871. strong in

  872. the Lord

  873. and in

  874. his mighty

  875. power.

  876. So having

  877. put on

  878. the armor

  879. that protects

  880. we are

  881. now tasked

  882. with taking

  883. up,

  884. being active.

  885. Whereas

  886. the belt,

  887. the breastplate

  888. and the

  889. shoes were

  890. armor that

  891. never came

  892. off while

  893. on the

  894. battlefield,

  895. the shield,

  896. the helmet

  897. and the

  898. sword on

  899. the other

  900. hand were

  901. always kept

  902. ready for

  903. use when

  904. actually

  905. fighting.

  906. Let's

  907. look at

  908. verse 16.

  909. In addition

  910. to all

  911. of this,

  912. take up

  913. the shield

  914. of faith

  915. with which

  916. you can

  917. extinguish

  918. all the

  919. flaming arrows

  920. of the

  921. evil one.

  922. Take the

  923. helmet of

  924. salvation

  925. and the

  926. sword of

  927. the spirit

  928. which is

  929. the word

  930. of God.

  931. There are

  932. two types

  933. of shields

  934. that the

  935. Roman soldiers

  936. used.

  937. One was

  938. a small

  939. round one

  940. about two

  941. feet in

  942. diameter

  943. strapped

  944. to one

  945. arm to

  946. deflect

  947. swords

  948. when in

  949. hand-to-hand

  950. combat.

  951. The other

  952. shield is

  953. the one

  954. we are

  955. talking

  956. about here.

  957. It was

  958. one big

  959. sheet of

  960. wood about

  961. four and

  962. a half

  963. feet high

  964. and about

  965. two and

  966. a half

  967. feet wide.

  968. It was

  969. designed to

  970. protect the

  971. whole body

  972. of the

  973. soldier who

  974. was considerably

  975. smaller than

  976. the average

  977. man is

  978. today.

  979. The shield

  980. was made

  981. of wood

  982. and covered

  983. with either

  984. metal or

  985. heavily soaked

  986. leather.

  987. They were

  988. carried in

  989. the front

  990. lines of

  991. that battle

  992. and stood

  993. side by

  994. side and

  995. overhead to

  996. make a

  997. wooden wall

  998. which could

  999. have been

  1000. up to a

  1001. mile wide.

  1002. Behind this

  1003. wall of

  1004. shields the

  1005. archers would

  1006. shoot their

  1007. arrows and

  1008. would slowly

  1009. advance on

  1010. the enemy

  1011. behind this

  1012. safe wall.

  1013. Anyone behind

  1014. the walls of

  1015. shields were

  1016. protected also

  1017. from arrow

  1018. attack.

  1019. Very often

  1020. they would be

  1021. shot at with

  1022. arrows whose

  1023. tips had been

  1024. soaked and

  1025. wrapped in

  1026. pieces of

  1027. cloth soaked

  1028. in tar

  1029. like in

  1030. a tar

  1031. like substance

  1032. and set

  1033. alight.

  1034. The purpose

  1035. was to

  1036. maximize damage

  1037. by having

  1038. the flame

  1039. burn and

  1040. spread and

  1041. splatter onto

  1042. the soldiers.

  1043. However,

  1044. with these

  1045. big shields

  1046. the arrows

  1047. would be

  1048. either deflected

  1049. or extinguished.

  1050. So we

  1051. are to take

  1052. up this

  1053. great big

  1054. shield of

  1055. faith which

  1056. can extinguish

  1057. all the flaming

  1058. arrows of the

  1059. evil one.

  1060. turn back

  1061. with me

  1062. for a

  1063. minute back

  1064. to chapter

  1065. 3 verse

  1066. 16.

  1067. I pray

  1068. that out

  1069. of his

  1070. glorious

  1071. riches he

  1072. may strengthen

  1073. you with

  1074. power through

  1075. his spirit

  1076. in your

  1077. inner being

  1078. so that

  1079. Christ may

  1080. dwell in

  1081. your heart

  1082. through

  1083. faith.

  1084. And I

  1085. pray that

  1086. you being

  1087. rooted and

  1088. established in

  1089. love may

  1090. have power

  1091. together with

  1092. all the

  1093. saints to

  1094. grasp how

  1095. wide and

  1096. long and

  1097. high and

  1098. deep is

  1099. the love

  1100. of God.

  1101. And to

  1102. know this

  1103. love that

  1104. surpasses

  1105. knowledge that

  1106. you may be

  1107. filled to

  1108. the measure of

  1109. all the

  1110. fullness of

  1111. God.

  1112. Faith.

  1113. Faith.

  1114. The shield

  1115. of faith.

  1116. The faith in

  1117. this letter

  1118. is the

  1119. openness,

  1120. the willingness

  1121. to God

  1122. that allows

  1123. Christ to

  1124. dwell in

  1125. us and

  1126. brings in

  1127. us a

  1128. deeper grasp

  1129. of his

  1130. unfathomable

  1131. love.

  1132. The flaming

  1133. arrows that

  1134. Paul writes

  1135. about could

  1136. be anything

  1137. from direct

  1138. occult attack

  1139. to devilish

  1140. persecution.

  1141. And that's

  1142. what was

  1143. happening in

  1144. Ephesus.

  1145. But for

  1146. us in our

  1147. context,

  1148. currently it's

  1149. most likely

  1150. to be the

  1151. steady rain

  1152. of temptations,

  1153. fear,

  1154. bitterness,

  1155. anger,

  1156. and division

  1157. that could

  1158. break up the

  1159. unity of

  1160. the church

  1161. or any

  1162. family or

  1163. societal unit.

  1164. These arrows

  1165. that are

  1166. being fired

  1167. at us

  1168. are to be

  1169. countered

  1170. with faith.

  1171. Taking up

  1172. the shield

  1173. is a

  1174. deliberate

  1175. and a

  1176. positive

  1177. act,

  1178. holding

  1179. on to

  1180. the God

  1181. revealed in

  1182. the gospel.

  1183. dependent on

  1184. the Lord.

  1185. Holding

  1186. on to

  1187. the God

  1188. revealed in

  1189. the gospel,

  1190. dependent on

  1191. the Lord,

  1192. no matter

  1193. what.

  1194. He is the

  1195. Lord who

  1196. extinguishes

  1197. the fiery

  1198. arrows of

  1199. the enemy

  1200. attempting to

  1201. spread harm

  1202. and spread

  1203. panic and

  1204. division.

  1205. Next is

  1206. the helmet.

  1207. helmet.

  1208. I hope

  1209. the helmet

  1210. is straightforward.

  1211. It protects

  1212. the head

  1213. and the face.

  1214. The fact

  1215. that the

  1216. helmet is

  1217. related to

  1218. salvation

  1219. indicates that

  1220. Satan's blows

  1221. are directed

  1222. at the

  1223. believer's

  1224. security

  1225. and assurance

  1226. in Christ.

  1227. In the same

  1228. way that a

  1229. helmet would

  1230. protect a

  1231. soldier from

  1232. the blows of

  1233. the enemy

  1234. in battle,

  1235. the helmet

  1236. of salvation

  1237. suggests that

  1238. the blows that

  1239. come from

  1240. Satan's

  1241. double-edged

  1242. sword are

  1243. that of

  1244. discouragement

  1245. and doubt.

  1246. Satan

  1247. discourages

  1248. us by

  1249. pointing out

  1250. our failures,

  1251. our sins,

  1252. our unresolved

  1253. problems,

  1254. our poor

  1255. health,

  1256. or whatever

  1257. else seems to

  1258. be negative

  1259. in our lives

  1260. in order to

  1261. make us lose

  1262. confidence and

  1263. to doubt in

  1264. the love and

  1265. care of our

  1266. heavenly father.

  1267. If we are

  1268. believers this

  1269. morning,

  1270. our salvation

  1271. is secure

  1272. if we are

  1273. in Christ.

  1274. The final

  1275. piece of

  1276. armour is

  1277. the sword

  1278. of the

  1279. Spirit,

  1280. which is

  1281. the word

  1282. of God.

  1283. Turn back

  1284. with me to

  1285. chapter 6,

  1286. verse 17.

  1287. Take the

  1288. helmet of

  1289. salvation and

  1290. the sword

  1291. of the

  1292. Spirit,

  1293. which is

  1294. the word

  1295. of God.

  1296. the word

  1297. of God

  1298. is a

  1299. spiritual

  1300. weapon

  1301. to be

  1302. used as

  1303. a

  1304. defensive

  1305. weapon

  1306. in our

  1307. struggle

  1308. against

  1309. spiritual

  1310. enemies.

  1311. It needs

  1312. to be

  1313. handled

  1314. well

  1315. to be

  1316. most

  1317. effective.

  1318. It can

  1319. only deflect

  1320. an attack

  1321. when it is

  1322. handled with

  1323. precision and

  1324. skill.

  1325. Hebrews 4,

  1326. 12,

  1327. describes the

  1328. word like

  1329. this.

  1330. When Jesus

  1331. was tempted

  1332. by Satan

  1333. in the

  1334. wilderness,

  1335. he defended

  1336. himself from

  1337. each temptation

  1338. with a

  1339. passage of

  1340. scripture that

  1341. precisely

  1342. contradicted the

  1343. devil's word.

  1344. You can see

  1345. that in

  1346. Matthew 4.

  1347. Here's a

  1348. challenge to

  1349. us.

  1350. If we

  1351. don't know

  1352. God's word

  1353. well,

  1354. we can't

  1355. use it

  1356. well.

  1357. Satan's

  1358. only just

  1359. looking for

  1360. an excuse.

  1361. He's only

  1362. looking for

  1363. areas of

  1364. weakness

  1365. where we

  1366. are either

  1367. ignorant or

  1368. confused and

  1369. he'll attack

  1370. us there.

  1371. The Bible

  1372. isn't a

  1373. broad sword

  1374. to be waved

  1375. around

  1376. indiscriminately

  1377. but it's a

  1378. sharp dagger

  1379. to be used

  1380. with great

  1381. precision.

  1382. I just

  1383. want to

  1384. pause on

  1385. that point

  1386. for a

  1387. minute because

  1388. September is

  1389. just around

  1390. the corner.

  1391. There's a

  1392. new term

  1393. ahead.

  1394. It's an

  1395. opportunity to

  1396. get into

  1397. new habits

  1398. and new

  1399. routines.

  1400. So another

  1401. challenge.

  1402. How about

  1403. prioritizing the

  1404. word of the

  1405. spirit in your

  1406. life?

  1407. How about

  1408. equipping

  1409. ourselves well

  1410. to know God's

  1411. word well so

  1412. that we can use

  1413. it well?

  1414. Here's a few

  1415. suggestions.

  1416. Commit to

  1417. daily Bible

  1418. reading to

  1419. get a daily

  1420. diet of God's

  1421. word.

  1422. You can

  1423. read the

  1424. Bible or

  1425. you can

  1426. listen to

  1427. it on

  1428. audio

  1429. Bibles.

  1430. How about

  1431. committing to

  1432. meeting up

  1433. with another

  1434. believer every

  1435. week, every

  1436. other week,

  1437. just regularly?

  1438. Spending half

  1439. an hour reading

  1440. and discussing

  1441. scripture together?

  1442. how about

  1443. committing to

  1444. joining or

  1445. rejoining a

  1446. midweek Bible

  1447. study or

  1448. home group as

  1449. we call them?

  1450. Prioritize God's

  1451. word and getting

  1452. to know it

  1453. well so that

  1454. we can handle

  1455. it well.

  1456. Maybe some

  1457. of you have

  1458. been considering

  1459. studying the

  1460. Bible in a

  1461. more systematic

  1462. way.

  1463. Maybe

  1464. Munster Bible

  1465. College is

  1466. something that

  1467. you'd be

  1468. interested in.

  1469. Either way,

  1470. commit to

  1471. prioritizing

  1472. knowing God's

  1473. word well so

  1474. that we are

  1475. equipped to

  1476. handle it

  1477. well when

  1478. the attacks of

  1479. the devil

  1480. come.

  1481. Verse 18.

  1482. Prayer is

  1483. the closing

  1484. theme of

  1485. Ephesians and

  1486. even though it

  1487. is closely

  1488. related to

  1489. God's armor

  1490. here, it

  1491. shouldn't be

  1492. regarded as

  1493. another weapon

  1494. because prayer

  1495. is much more

  1496. than that.

  1497. While we are

  1498. standing firm

  1499. with all the

  1500. armor at

  1501. hand, we

  1502. are to be

  1503. in prayer.

  1504. It isn't

  1505. something that

  1506. we add on

  1507. when all

  1508. else fails.

  1509. Prayer must

  1510. be the air

  1511. that the

  1512. soldier of

  1513. Christ

  1514. breathes.

  1515. It's not

  1516. an accident

  1517. that prayer

  1518. is here at

  1519. the end of

  1520. the letter.

  1521. It's not

  1522. an accident

  1523. that it's

  1524. the crescendo

  1525. of the

  1526. letter.

  1527. We started

  1528. by looking

  1529. at chapter

  1530. 1 verse

  1531. 3.

  1532. Praise be

  1533. to the

  1534. God and

  1535. Father of

  1536. our Lord

  1537. Jesus Christ

  1538. who has

  1539. blessed us

  1540. in the

  1541. heavenly realms

  1542. with every

  1543. spiritual blessing

  1544. in Christ.

  1545. And then we

  1546. went through

  1547. the whole

  1548. letter looking

  1549. at that

  1550. big long

  1551. list of

  1552. blessings.

  1553. We are

  1554. chosen,

  1555. predestined,

  1556. adopted,

  1557. lavished with

  1558. his grace.

  1559. Do you

  1560. remember that

  1561. list?

  1562. And now

  1563. we've

  1564. arrived here

  1565. at the

  1566. crescendo.

  1567. It would

  1568. be easy

  1569. for us,

  1570. well me at

  1571. least,

  1572. to become

  1573. quite arrogant

  1574. with a

  1575. list of

  1576. blessings

  1577. like that

  1578. because I'm

  1579. a believer,

  1580. that list

  1581. applies to

  1582. me,

  1583. so I am

  1584. all those

  1585. things.

  1586. I could

  1587. take the

  1588. attitude that

  1589. I'm redeemed

  1590. and forgiven.

  1591. Great,

  1592. I can do

  1593. what I want.

  1594. Or to

  1595. say,

  1596. well I'm

  1597. adopted as

  1598. God's

  1599. child.

  1600. Brilliant,

  1601. I can

  1602. treat him

  1603. as badly

  1604. as I

  1605. want,

  1606. because I'm

  1607. a child,

  1608. I still

  1609. get the

  1610. inheritance.

  1611. We need

  1612. to be careful

  1613. with attitudes

  1614. like that.

  1615. When we

  1616. read Ephesians,

  1617. that we

  1618. don't fall

  1619. into Satan's

  1620. trap of

  1621. making us

  1622. think of

  1623. ourselves and

  1624. how blessed

  1625. we are,

  1626. rather than

  1627. looking to

  1628. the one who

  1629. gives us

  1630. the blessings.

  1631. We need

  1632. to be careful

  1633. not to think

  1634. how adequate

  1635. we are in

  1636. ourselves and

  1637. lose the

  1638. sense of

  1639. dependence on

  1640. God.

  1641. And turn

  1642. that then

  1643. into praise

  1644. and to

  1645. prayer.

  1646. The letter

  1647. starts in

  1648. chapter 1 by

  1649. looking up

  1650. at the

  1651. heavenlies,

  1652. but Paul

  1653. brings us,

  1654. Paul finishes

  1655. the letter by

  1656. bringing us

  1657. down on

  1658. our knees.

  1659. We must

  1660. not fall

  1661. into the

  1662. trap of

  1663. thinking that

  1664. because we

  1665. have all

  1666. these resources

  1667. and blessings

  1668. that we can

  1669. do this

  1670. Christian life

  1671. without God's

  1672. help.

  1673. God's

  1674. armour is

  1675. not mechanical

  1676. or magical.

  1677. We can't

  1678. just pick

  1679. it up

  1680. and expect

  1681. it to

  1682. produce

  1683. supernatural

  1684. feats in

  1685. battle time.

  1686. Our divine

  1687. gifts,

  1688. our gifts

  1689. from God,

  1690. amazing as

  1691. they are,

  1692. are useless

  1693. without God.

  1694. We need

  1695. his help.

  1696. And this

  1697. comes through

  1698. prayer.

  1699. Pray in the

  1700. spirit on all

  1701. occasions,

  1702. with all kinds

  1703. of prayers

  1704. and requests.

  1705. With this

  1706. in mind,

  1707. be alert and

  1708. always keep on

  1709. praying for

  1710. all the saints.

  1711. the three

  1712. alls here.

  1713. All

  1714. occasions,

  1715. all kinds

  1716. of prayers

  1717. and requests

  1718. and for

  1719. all the

  1720. saints.

  1721. Praying in

  1722. the spirit

  1723. on all

  1724. occasions

  1725. is simply

  1726. encouraging

  1727. an attitude

  1728. of prayer

  1729. as we go

  1730. about our

  1731. day to be

  1732. talking to

  1733. God,

  1734. making prayer

  1735. part of our

  1736. everyday activity.

  1737. For example,

  1738. when we are

  1739. tempted,

  1740. we hold

  1741. the temptation

  1742. up before

  1743. God and ask

  1744. for his help.

  1745. When we

  1746. experience

  1747. something good

  1748. and beautiful,

  1749. we thank

  1750. the Lord

  1751. for it.

  1752. When we

  1753. see evil

  1754. around us,

  1755. we pray

  1756. that God

  1757. would make

  1758. it right

  1759. and be

  1760. willing to

  1761. be used

  1762. by him

  1763. to do

  1764. so.

  1765. When we

  1766. meet someone

  1767. who doesn't

  1768. know Christ,

  1769. we pray

  1770. for God

  1771. to draw

  1772. that person

  1773. to himself

  1774. by his

  1775. spirit

  1776. and also

  1777. maybe to

  1778. use us

  1779. to be a

  1780. faithful witness.

  1781. When we

  1782. encounter

  1783. trouble,

  1784. we turn

  1785. to God

  1786. as our

  1787. deliverer.

  1788. All kinds

  1789. of requests

  1790. and prayers.

  1791. They can be

  1792. both general

  1793. and specific

  1794. prayers,

  1795. like the

  1796. ones I've

  1797. just listed.

  1798. They are

  1799. in line

  1800. with God's

  1801. will and

  1802. nature and

  1803. word,

  1804. so we

  1805. don't keep

  1806. asking for

  1807. a Porsche

  1808. to arrive

  1809. at our

  1810. door.

  1811. In line

  1812. with God's

  1813. will and

  1814. nature and

  1815. word.

  1816. prayer.

  1817. And we

  1818. pray for

  1819. all the

  1820. saints.

  1821. We can

  1822. all be

  1823. guilty of

  1824. neglecting

  1825. prayer in

  1826. our lives.

  1827. I know I

  1828. can,

  1829. especially

  1830. when life

  1831. seems to

  1832. be going

  1833. pretty okay

  1834. for us.

  1835. Well,

  1836. in light

  1837. of the

  1838. battle

  1839. that we've

  1840. been looking

  1841. at here,

  1842. we can

  1843. be assured

  1844. that there

  1845. is always

  1846. someone who

  1847. needs the

  1848. Lord's

  1849. help to

  1850. put on

  1851. his full

  1852. armor,

  1853. even if

  1854. our life

  1855. is currently

  1856. a bed of

  1857. roses.

  1858. Pray for

  1859. each other.

  1860. pray for

  1861. each other

  1862. in the

  1863. battle.

  1864. As

  1865. followers of

  1866. Jesus,

  1867. we will

  1868. be devoted

  1869. to the

  1870. welfare of

  1871. others,

  1872. especially

  1873. fellow

  1874. believers.

  1875. If we

  1876. are too

  1877. consumed

  1878. with our

  1879. own

  1880. battles,

  1881. even if

  1882. they're

  1883. spiritual

  1884. battles,

  1885. and not

  1886. concerning

  1887. ourselves

  1888. with others,

  1889. we will

  1890. suffer from

  1891. a destructive

  1892. self-centeredness.

  1893. This can

  1894. lead to

  1895. isolation

  1896. from other

  1897. believers,

  1898. who if

  1899. they were

  1900. intimately

  1901. involved in

  1902. fellowship

  1903. with us,

  1904. would

  1905. be

  1906. regularly

  1907. praying

  1908. for our

  1909. spiritual

  1910. welfare.

  1911. When

  1912. Satan

  1913. attacks,

  1914. it's

  1915. foolish

  1916. to try

  1917. and do

  1918. battle

  1919. alone.

  1920. A

  1921. soldier

  1922. on guard

  1923. who sees

  1924. the enemy

  1925. approaching

  1926. doesn't

  1927. run out

  1928. and start

  1929. fighting

  1930. by himself.

  1931. What does

  1932. he do?

  1933. He reports

  1934. back to

  1935. the commanding

  1936. officer,

  1937. who then

  1938. in turn

  1939. organizes

  1940. the defense.

  1941. If we

  1942. are under

  1943. attack,

  1944. report it

  1945. to the

  1946. Lord,

  1947. our

  1948. commanding

  1949. officer,

  1950. and he

  1951. will

  1952. organize the

  1953. troops.

  1954. In

  1955. general,

  1956. God

  1957. uses

  1958. his

  1959. word,

  1960. his

  1961. spirit,

  1962. and his

  1963. people to

  1964. accomplish

  1965. his plans.

  1966. So trust

  1967. others to

  1968. help in

  1969. the battle,

  1970. but first

  1971. run to

  1972. him in

  1973. prayer.

  1974. For those

  1975. of us who

  1976. like our

  1977. own company

  1978. and the

  1979. solitude of

  1980. a quiet

  1981. life,

  1982. if there

  1983. is a

  1984. battle going

  1985. on in

  1986. our lives,

  1987. it is

  1988. foolish to

  1989. try and do

  1990. battle alone.

  1991. So be

  1992. careful.

  1993. Our

  1994. fellowship

  1995. with God

  1996. is not

  1997. meant to

  1998. wait till

  1999. we are

  2000. in heaven.

  2001. God's

  2002. greatest

  2003. desire and

  2004. our greatest

  2005. need is to

  2006. be in

  2007. constant

  2008. fellowship with

  2009. him now.

  2010. There is no

  2011. greater expression

  2012. or experience

  2013. of fellowship

  2014. than prayer.

  2015. Praying in

  2016. the spirit

  2017. is simply

  2018. to pray

  2019. in Jesus

  2020. name,

  2021. to pray

  2022. consistent

  2023. with his

  2024. nature and

  2025. his will.

  2026. It is to

  2027. line up our

  2028. minds and

  2029. desires with

  2030. God's mind

  2031. and his

  2032. desires.

  2033. As I

  2034. conclude,

  2035. be strong

  2036. in the

  2037. Lord,

  2038. be strengthened

  2039. in the

  2040. Lord,

  2041. so that you

  2042. can stand

  2043. firm against

  2044. the enemy,

  2045. the devil,

  2046. and his

  2047. schemes.

  2048. Have you

  2049. noticed the

  2050. implication of

  2051. these words?

  2052. The blessings

  2053. and benefits

  2054. I listed

  2055. earlier,

  2056. the promise

  2057. of going

  2058. into battle

  2059. invincible,

  2060. knowing that

  2061. God has

  2062. already won

  2063. the ultimate

  2064. victory,

  2065. through Jesus

  2066. conquering

  2067. death,

  2068. this is such

  2069. great news

  2070. for those

  2071. who are in

  2072. Christ.

  2073. This victory

  2074. and this

  2075. promise

  2076. is not

  2077. for those

  2078. who don't

  2079. know him.

  2080. If you

  2081. don't know

  2082. Jesus as

  2083. the Lord of

  2084. your life,

  2085. you don't

  2086. have the

  2087. security of

  2088. this help

  2089. in times

  2090. of battle.

  2091. You don't

  2092. have the

  2093. assurance of

  2094. 2 Chronicles

  2095. 2015,

  2096. where the

  2097. Lord says,

  2098. do not be

  2099. afraid or

  2100. discouraged

  2101. because of

  2102. this vast

  2103. army,

  2104. for the

  2105. battle is

  2106. not yours

  2107. but God's.

  2108. Battles

  2109. will come.

  2110. Will you

  2111. stand with

  2112. the Lord

  2113. or fight

  2114. it yourself?

  2115. If you

  2116. don't know

  2117. Jesus as

  2118. Lord of

  2119. your life,

  2120. there is

  2121. reason to

  2122. fear.

  2123. The battle

  2124. is real,

  2125. as we've

  2126. seen.

  2127. How will

  2128. you stand

  2129. firm if

  2130. not with

  2131. God and

  2132. his help?

  2133. If you

  2134. do know

  2135. Jesus as

  2136. Lord,

  2137. how do

  2138. you treat

  2139. him when

  2140. the heat

  2141. is on?

  2142. Do you

  2143. run to

  2144. him and

  2145. throw on

  2146. the armor

  2147. he offers

  2148. or do

  2149. you run

  2150. out and

  2151. take on

  2152. the enemy

  2153. on your

  2154. own?

  2155. this

  2156. morning,

  2157. wherever

  2158. you are,

  2159. I plead

  2160. with you

  2161. to run

  2162. to Jesus.

  2163. We

  2164. can't

  2165. survive

  2166. the battles

  2167. of life

  2168. without

  2169. him.

  2170. Cast

  2171. your cares

  2172. on the

  2173. Lord and

  2174. he will

  2175. sustain

  2176. you.

  2177. He

  2178. will

  2179. never

  2180. let

  2181. the

  2182. righteous

  2183. fall.

  2184. Let's

  2185. pray.

  2186. Lord,

  2187. thank you

  2188. for the

  2189. surety of

  2190. your word.

  2191. Thank you

  2192. that in

  2193. Christ we

  2194. need not

  2195. fear because

  2196. you have

  2197. won the

  2198. ultimate

  2199. battle for

  2200. us.

  2201. We need

  2202. not fear

  2203. death

  2204. anymore.

  2205. Thank you

  2206. for the

  2207. gift of

  2208. every

  2209. spiritual

  2210. blessing

  2211. when we

  2212. are in

  2213. Christ.

  2214. thank you

  2215. that you

  2216. greatly

  2217. love us

  2218. and that

  2219. your gifts

  2220. make us

  2221. new.

  2222. Lord,

  2223. help us

  2224. to root

  2225. ourselves

  2226. in truth,

  2227. to put on

  2228. righteousness,

  2229. to be ready

  2230. with the

  2231. gospel of

  2232. peace.

  2233. Help us

  2234. to be

  2235. obedient.

  2236. Help us

  2237. to live

  2238. holy lives.

  2239. Help us

  2240. to put on

  2241. the shield

  2242. of faith,

  2243. remembering

  2244. you and

  2245. your goodness

  2246. in the

  2247. trials of

  2248. life.

  2249. Give us

  2250. a love

  2251. and a

  2252. passion for

  2253. the word

  2254. of God.

  2255. Help us

  2256. to commit

  2257. to putting

  2258. things in

  2259. place this

  2260. next term

  2261. that will

  2262. help us

  2263. to know

  2264. your word

  2265. well.

  2266. And Lord,

  2267. give us a

  2268. passion for

  2269. prayer,

  2270. that we

  2271. would see it

  2272. as the best

  2273. fellowship with

  2274. you as

  2275. we pray

  2276. and unburden

  2277. our souls

  2278. to you,

  2279. asking for

  2280. your help

  2281. and claiming

  2282. the truths

  2283. of scripture

  2284. for ourselves.

  2285. And we

  2286. pray all of

  2287. this in

  2288. Jesus' name.

  2289. Amen.

  2290. Our final

  2291. song, I

  2292. think I've

  2293. said it a

  2294. couple of

  2295. times.

  2296. I've used

  2297. this phrase

  2298. a couple

  2299. of times

  2300. in what

  2301. I've been

  2302. saying.

  2303. The song

  2304. is in

  2305. Christ alone.

  2306. No power

  2307. of heaven

  2308. is not

  2309. in the

  2310. world.

  2311. I've

  2312. been

  2313. in the

  2314. world.

  2315. I've

  2316. been

  2317. in the

  2318. world.

  2319. I've

  2320. been

  2321. in the

  2322. world.

  2323. I've

  2324. been

  2325. in the

  2326. world.

  2327. I've

  2328. been

  2329. in the
