  1. It's actually been that long. October, I think it was.

  2. And it's a pleasure to be back. I brought my daughter this time.

  3. My wife, unfortunately, couldn't come, but next time.

  4. Today we're going to look at just a really short passage, actually.

  5. I don't usually preach really short passages, but I am today, from 1 Peter chapter 5.

    1 Peter 5 chapter mention

  6. And I'll read it. We'll read it together.

  7. And then we'll take a look at a really common word for Christians.

  8. Really common.

  9. You know, we have our sort of vocabulary that we use as Christians, like the word holy.

  10. At home, we'd call that an in-house word, right?

  11. So it's a word that we use all the time. We just sort of throw it around.

  12. Or we use the word love, right, or grace.

  13. We have these words that we understand as Christians in particular kind of ways, right?

  14. And sometimes they're words that other people don't use too much.

  15. A word like holy.

  16. Now, a word that we use a lot, that everybody knows, that everybody's sort of familiar with, is humble.

  17. Every Christian ought to be humble.

  18. Or humility. We use that word, too.

  19. But what do we mean by it?

  20. And it's one of those words that we're so familiar with, that sometimes we maybe don't ask,

  21. what does it really mean to be humble, right?

  22. So that's sort of the first question, just something to think about.

  23. What does it really mean, if you hear somebody say, or maybe you say, you know?

  24. I'm sure there's people you know, and when people ask you about this idea, he's very humble, right?

  25. Or he always sort of shows humility, or she's very humble.

  26. But what exactly do we mean by that?

  27. And I think it's important for us to understand what exactly we mean by that,

  28. since it's such an important thing for a Christian, right?

  29. We talk about that all the time, that one of the main things that would sort of characterize a Christian

  30. is that he or she is humble.

  31. But what do we mean?

  32. What do we mean?

  33. So let's just read, or I'm just going to read just a little bit of this from chapter 5.

  34. So Peter's writing to a church.

  35. It's a very, very young church.

  36. They're in trouble, basically, for being Christians.

  37. They live in a place, in a time, where it would be very, very hard to be a Christian

  38. and people don't notice.

  39. It would be hard to be, at home, we would say, under the radar.

  40. It was hard for these Christians that Peter's writing to

  41. just to live in their society and not be noticed as being different.

  42. And so they're under a lot of pressure from their neighbors

  43. and from sort of officials and people like that.

  44. And he gets to this end.

  45. And Peter, this is a great little book.

  46. He addresses everybody.

  47. He addresses husbands and wives and people who are servants

  48. and people who work and young people and older people.

  49. He addresses everybody and sort of has specific things to say to them.

  50. And he comes here to the end.

  51. And last of all, he addresses the church leaders.

  52. In chapter 5, he says, this is verse 1,

  53. To the elders among you I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings

  54. who will also share in the glory to be revealed.

  55. Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them,

  56. not because you must, but because you are willing,

  57. as God wants you to be, not pursuing dishonest gain,

  58. but eager to serve, not lording it over those entrusted to you.

  59. Right?

  60. So that's like not being sort of making sure everybody knows you're in charge all the time.

  61. That's kind of what he means about don't lord it over people.

  62. But being examples to the flock.

  63. And when the great shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

  64. In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to the elders.

  65. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility.

  66. Right?

  67. So now he's talking, he's starting to talk to everybody.

  68. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another because God opposes the proud,

  69. but shows favor to the humble.

  70. And it's just the next two verses that we're going to spend our time looking at this morning.

  71. Verses 6 and 7.

  72. Humble yourselves, therefore.

  73. Why?

  74. Why humble yourself?

  75. Because God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble.

  76. Right?

  77. He's quoting from the book of Proverbs there.

  78. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

  79. Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

  80. So, the title of this sermon is, How to Be Humble.

  81. Now, it's kind of odd to stand up and say, you know what?

  82. I'm going to teach you how to be humble.

  83. Right?

  84. It makes me uncomfortable to do it.

  85. And, you know, I mean, first of all, I mean, you can think, who is this guy?

  86. And first of all, if you are humble, why would you get up and talk about what it means to be humble?

  87. And then, if you're an American, that's even less likely.

  88. Right?

  89. Because one of the things, I mean, we're known for lots of things.

  90. Right?

  91. Not all of them good.

  92. One of those things is not typically humility.

  93. Anywhere I go in the world, it's not really one of the first things that people say about Americans.

  94. But whatever the case, there's a really good reason I'm speaking to you about humility and how to be humble today.

  95. It's because of everybody I know, I'm the one who needs to hear it most.

  96. So, I'm not going to talk to you about how to be humble because I've got it mastered,

  97. or because I'm the expert in humility.

  98. Besides, if I was the expert in humility, you would know because I wouldn't talk about it.

  99. So, it's really because I'm not very humble that I'm up here talking to you about what it means to be humble.

  100. Because I need to be humble.

  101. We all do.

  102. But here's the great thing about Peter.

  103. People sort of ignore Peter, right?

  104. Because we spend all of our time with Paul or reading Jesus in the Gospels,

  105. and Peter kind of gets put on the sideline a little bit.

  106. But the great thing about Peter is he tells you what to do over and over again,

  107. and then he tells you how to do it.

  108. And that's the great thing here, is all I really have to do is just repeat to you what Peter says.

  109. Because he tells you to be humble, and then he says,

  110. by the way, here's exactly, exactly the way you do it.

  111. So, when you leave here today, not because I know everything about humility,

  112. but because the Apostle Peter was such a good guy,

  113. you're going to leave here today knowing exactly, exactly what you have to do to be humble.

  114. Now, there are a couple of things that come to mind when we think of the word humble,

  115. and sort of two things.

  116. And they're not really biblical humility.

  117. One is there's sort of a humility, like you don't want to speak your mind, right?

  118. You think, well, this is just my opinion, right?

  119. And everybody has an opinion.

  120. I don't want to force my opinion on others.

  121. Here's something that somebody said about that kind of humility, right?

  122. So, it's sort of the humility that says,

  123. no, you know, I don't want to push my opinion on others.

  124. Your opinion is as good as my opinion.

  125. Who am I to say that's right?

  126. Who am I to say this is wrong?

  127. It's just my opinion.

  128. If you think that's right, that's fine.

  129. I'm not going to sort of overstep my boundaries.

  130. So, there's that sort of humility.

  131. And a Christian man said this.

  132. Every day, one comes across somebody who says,

  133. who says, my view may not be the right opinion.

  134. But, of course, his view must be the right one.

  135. Otherwise, he wouldn't hold it.

  136. It wouldn't be his view.

  137. He must think that's the right one.

  138. He just won't say that he thinks it's the right one.

  139. We're on the road to producing people too modest

  140. to believe in the multiplication table.

  141. We're in danger of creating people

  142. who think the law of gravity

  143. is just a matter of personal opinion

  144. that you don't want to force on others.

  145. In old times, people were too proud to be convinced.

  146. But today, people are too humble

  147. to be convinced of anything.

  148. And that was written by a man called G.K. Chesterton

  149. in 1908.

  150. Right?

  151. And it sounds like it was written yesterday.

  152. So, there's that sort of humility.

  153. But I would say, that's not biblical humility.

  154. That's not what it means to be humble in the Bible.

  155. Just saying, well, you know, that's your opinion.

  156. And that's fine.

  157. It's just as good as my opinion.

  158. Right?

  159. Or, who am I to say that's wrong?

  160. Who am I to say this is right?

  161. It's just my view.

  162. Now, in the world,

  163. that might be considered humble.

  164. But that's not what the Bible means by it.

  165. The other thing is this.

  166. And I think this is the more likely thing

  167. that we do as Christians.

  168. And that is, we confuse, maybe,

  169. what it means to be humble

  170. with just the way a person is.

  171. So, if somebody's quiet,

  172. if somebody's unassuming,

  173. if somebody is sort of a,

  174. I don't know, wallflower.

  175. I probably shouldn't use it.

  176. At home, we would say a wallflower.

  177. I don't know if that's self-explanatory.

  178. It's like somebody who doesn't stand out,

  179. whatever the case.

  180. But they're quiet.

  181. They don't assert themselves.

  182. And we say, well, that's a humble person.

  183. And they may be.

  184. And, of course, it's good to be quiet.

  185. It's good not to just speak when others are speaking.

  186. It's good to sort of be reserved.

  187. Those are all good things.

  188. But I happen to know

  189. some people who are very quiet,

  190. and the reason they're very quiet and reserved

  191. is because they don't generally think

  192. other people are worth their time.

  193. So, they don't really speak to them that much.

  194. So, somebody could be quiet,

  195. but not at all humble.

  196. Somebody could be reserved

  197. and often themselves

  198. and not speak to others,

  199. but they may be the least humble people

  200. that there is.

  201. So, sometimes we think humility

  202. is just a character trait.

  203. And it may be, but it might not be.

  204. But that's kind of what we think.

  205. You think being humble is just being quiet.

  206. Well, sometimes there's many of us.

  207. I can think of one in particular

  208. who needs to be quiet more than he is.

  209. But, that's not all.

  210. In fact, that's not what Peter means.

  211. Here's what it means to be humble.

  212. There's four things we're going to talk about.

  213. And don't worry, four sounds like a lot,

  214. but it's going to go really fast.

  215. Because Johnny said,

  216. I only had two and a half hours to preach.

  217. So, two and a half hours will easily do these.

  218. Four things.

  219. Number one, if you want to know

  220. what it means to be humble,

  221. according to the Apostle Peter,

  222. which means according to God,

  223. number one is,

  224. you have to begin,

  225. not with yourself,

  226. and what does it mean to be humble,

  227. you have to begin with who God is.

  228. Right?

  229. So, strange, isn't it?

  230. How to be humble.

  231. First thing, start with God.

  232. Number two,

  233. if you want to learn what it means to be humble,

  234. is you submit to God's power.

  235. This also doesn't really sound like,

  236. how does this have to do with humility?

  237. Right?

  238. So, begin with God.

  239. Number two, submit to God's power.

  240. Number three,

  241. trust in God's promise.

  242. Right?

  243. Well, this has nothing to do about humility,

  244. it sounds like.

  245. And number four,

  246. act on God's love.

  247. Act on God's love.

  248. And that's kind of the how-to part.

  249. Right?

  250. So, I'm just going to go through these really fast.

  251. The first one is really fast.

  252. Look what Peter says.

  253. Humble yourselves,

  254. therefore,

  255. under God's mighty hand.

  256. So, he doesn't begin

  257. with the people that he's speaking to.

  258. In other words,

  259. it's not just,

  260. go make yourself humble.

  261. He says,

  262. humble yourself

  263. under God's mighty hand.

  264. Now,

  265. when you hear that phrase,

  266. mighty hand,

  267. what do you think of?

  268. What do you think of?

  269. What comes to mind?

  270. Well,

  271. you know what comes to mind

  272. when I think of it?

  273. Is I think of like a school principal

  274. who's always

  275. like

  276. ready

  277. for you to do something wrong.

  278. And the minute you do,

  279. and that's all they live for.

  280. Right?

  281. And when I was growing up,

  282. I had a particular,

  283. a particular principal

  284. in elementary school.

  285. And I think her whole life

  286. was based on waiting for me

  287. to do something wrong

  288. just so she,

  289. and she was always right.

  290. I would.

  291. But we think of like

  292. God's mighty hand,

  293. like that God's stretching

  294. his hand out

  295. and the minute you do

  296. something wrong,

  297. he's ready to come down on you.

  298. Do you ever think about God

  299. that way?

  300. Some people do.

  301. Some people think that God

  302. is basically just sort of

  303. always hovering over.

  304. Like,

  305. I'm going to get you.

  306. I'm just waiting.

  307. And I'm waiting.

  308. And I know

  309. you're going to mess up

  310. just like you messed up yesterday.

  311. And the minute you do,

  312. because I'm God,

  313. I'm going to jump all over you

  314. and smack you down

  315. and teach you a lesson.

  316. Now,

  317. we sometimes view God that way,

  318. but that is not how God

  319. reveals himself to us.

  320. And when Peter talks about

  321. God's mighty hand,

  322. it absolutely doesn't mean

  323. the hand of God

  324. that's getting ready to smack you

  325. the minute you do something wrong.

  326. It is God's hand

  327. that is stretched out

  328. to save you.

  329. And the reason I'm pretty confident

  330. this is true

  331. is because that's how

  332. God's hand is talked about

  333. in the Bible itself.

  334. Listen to Exodus 3, verse 19.

    Exodus 3:19

  335. But I know,

  336. this is God speaking to Moses,

  337. I know that the king of Egypt

  338. will not let you go

  339. unless a mighty hand

  340. compels him.

  341. So I will stretch out my hand

  342. and strike the Egyptians

  343. and all the wonders

  344. and I will perform among them.

  345. After that,

  346. he will let you go.

  347. Deuteronomy 5.

  348. So, in other words,

  349. yeah,

  350. God's mighty hand

  351. is stretched out

  352. and that's bad news for Pharaoh,

  353. but it's good news for who?

  354. It's good news for his people.

  355. Because God's mighty hand

  356. is God's hand,

  357. as it were,

  358. that's reached out

  359. and ready and willing

  360. and able

  361. to save his people.

  362. So God's mighty hand

  363. is on your side

  364. if you're a child of God,

  365. if you call upon the name of God,

  366. if you call yourself a Christian.

  367. God's mighty hand

  368. is not just there

  369. to take you down a peg.

  370. And of course,

  371. yeah,

  372. of course God does punish them.

  373. I'm not saying he doesn't,

  374. but that's not what this text is about.

  375. This text is about God saving

  376. and God wanting to save.

  377. And then Deuteronomy 5.15,

  378. here Moses is talking to the Israelites

  379. and reminding them

  380. of everything that God's ever done for them.

  381. Deuteronomy 5.15,

  382. and you will remember

  383. that you were a slave

  384. in the land of Egypt

  385. and the Lord your God

  386. brought you out of their house

  387. by a mighty hand

  388. and an outstretched arm.

  389. And I think Peter

  390. gets his language from the Bible.

  391. And so when he says

  392. under God's mighty hand,

  393. that's the hand he's thinking about.

  394. It is the hand

  395. of the all-powerful God.

  396. But it's the hand

  397. of the all-powerful God

  398. that is stretched out

  399. on behalf of his people

  400. to save them.

  401. Right?

  402. And so I think

  403. that's where Peter

  404. gets his language.

  405. That's the idea

  406. of the hand of God.

  407. And so we want to be careful

  408. when you hear the phrase

  409. humble yourself

  410. under God's mighty hand.

  411. You don't just think of

  412. I better do this

  413. or God is going to

  414. teach me a lesson.

  415. I think sometimes

  416. as Christians

  417. we think of God

  418. as though he's just

  419. some kind of version of us.

  420. And that is

  421. he keeps a list of wrongs

  422. and he's up there like

  423. you know this is

  424. the third time this week.

  425. Right?

  426. That he's sort of

  427. just always ready

  428. to reprimand us

  429. no matter what.

  430. And that he's keeping

  431. a list of wrongs

  432. and he's thinking

  433. one more time.

  434. Right?

  435. I've let you go three times.

  436. Three times.

  437. You've done the same thing

  438. three times.

  439. I'm going to let it slide.

  440. You keep pushing me though

  441. I'm all over you.

  442. Or that he's just

  443. sort of spiteful.

  444. Or that he's moody.

  445. And so some days

  446. he forgives you

  447. and other days

  448. he's fed up.

  449. But the great news

  450. for you is

  451. in that way

  452. God is not like you.

  453. God doesn't sort of

  454. wake up on the wrong

  455. side of the bed.

  456. God is not different

  457. tomorrow than he is today.

  458. God is not

  459. changing his mind

  460. and thinking

  461. you know I know

  462. I said I would do this

  463. but here's what

  464. I'm really going to do.

  465. But sometimes

  466. we think of God

  467. that way.

  468. But that's not

  469. how Peter's beginning.

  470. Peter's saying

  471. humble yourself

  472. under God's mighty hand.

  473. Why?

  474. Because

  475. he lifts up

  476. the humble.

  477. He opposes the

  478. now God's hand

  479. is against the proud

  480. but the humble

  481. he lifts up.

  482. And Peter's getting

  483. ready to tell you

  484. what you've got to do

  485. to be humble.

  486. So you want to be

  487. lifted up by God's

  488. mighty hand?

  489. Hang in there

  490. just for a minute

  491. and I'll tell you

  492. exactly

  493. how to do that

  494. and it's probably

  495. going to surprise you.

  496. Right?

  497. So you

  498. we began with God

  499. so I just kind of

  500. put those two things

  501. together.

  502. Right?

  503. So that's the

  504. submit to God's power.

  505. Right?

  506. So I kind of put

  507. two points together.

  508. Begin with God

  509. who God is

  510. not with yourself

  511. and humble yourself

  512. under God's mighty hand.

  513. So see we did

  514. two points

  515. really fast.

  516. So now we're

  517. to the third one

  518. and we're going to

  519. slow down just a little bit.

  520. The second one

  521. sorry

  522. third one is this.

  523. Trust in God's promise.

  524. Look what he says.

  525. Humble yourselves

  526. therefore under

  527. God's mighty hand

  528. that he may lift you

  529. up in due time.

  530. Now this is

  531. in fact

  532. a promise

  533. that God

  534. is going to

  535. lift you up

  536. in due time.

  537. And now

  538. real quick though

  539. I want to say this.

  540. Peter is not saying

  541. if you're going

  542. through something

  543. right now

  544. and remember

  545. here's the thing

  546. these people

  547. were going

  548. through lots of things.

  549. He's not just

  550. giving them like

  551. hey you all sit down

  552. and we're talking

  553. about humility.

  554. They're suffering

  555. virtually every day

  556. for being Christians

  557. and their lives

  558. are filled

  559. with struggles

  560. and all kinds

  561. of other things

  562. just like yours are.

  563. So he's not just saying

  564. I'm going to teach you

  565. a lesson on humility.

  566. He's ending this letter

  567. by telling them

  568. reminding them

  569. reminding them

  570. who they are

  571. who God is

  572. and how to live

  573. before God

  574. and it's all about

  575. what it means

  576. to be humble.

  577. And so he says

  578. that he may lift you up

  579. in due time.

  580. Now what's this due time?

  581. Well ultimately

  582. what Peter is saying

  583. is this.

  584. There is nothing

  585. that you can be going through

  586. nothing that you can be doing

  587. nothing that you will face

  588. that God will not

  589. lift you out of.

  590. Now

  591. you can hear that

  592. and agree with it

  593. and think

  594. yeah so eventually

  595. one day

  596. eventually right

  597. I'll sort of get through this

  598. and it'll be better.

  599. So we think of

  600. we can read this

  601. and think that

  602. the Christian life

  603. is just

  604. I'm going to put up

  605. with a whole bunch of stuff

  606. and then eventually

  607. it'll finally be over.

  608. But that's not what

  609. Peter is saying.

  610. When Peter says

  611. he'll lift you up

  612. he doesn't just simply mean

  613. at the end

  614. in heaven.

  615. Though that is true.

  616. That is very true.

  617. But he doesn't just

  618. simply mean

  619. he will finally

  620. lift you up

  621. put you in heaven.

  622. But for now

  623. you just put up

  624. with whatever

  625. you have to put up with

  626. bear it

  627. you know

  628. sort of

  629. shoulder to the wheel

  630. nose to the grindstone

  631. and you just

  632. bear it

  633. bear up

  634. whatever is happening

  635. and eventually

  636. God will then intervene

  637. and take you to heaven

  638. for now though

  639. right

  640. you just sort of

  641. hang in there

  642. and hope that that happens.

  643. And sometimes

  644. we view it that way.

  645. And certainly

  646. certainly

  647. there are many

  648. many many things

  649. that we will not

  650. be released from

  651. until

  652. we arrive

  653. in heaven.

  654. That's very true.

  655. But we also

  656. don't want to think

  657. of heaven

  658. as just

  659. the thing

  660. that finally

  661. comes

  662. when I finally

  663. get all this

  664. stuff out of the way.

  665. And until then

  666. it's kind of hopeless.

  667. I'll just

  668. I'll make it

  669. eventually

  670. but now

  671. it's just

  672. sort of

  673. misery

  674. or whatever else

  675. I'm going through.

  676. That's not what he means.

  677. That's not what he means.

  678. But he's calling them

  679. he's calling them

  680. to trust

  681. that God

  682. is on

  683. their side.

  684. And that's

  685. he's getting

  686. closer and closer

  687. and closer

  688. to telling them

  689. exactly what they

  690. need to do

  691. to be humble.

  692. But he's wanting

  693. to make sure

  694. that first of all

  695. they understand

  696. God is not

  697. against them.

  698. And

  699. it would be easy

  700. if you were

  701. some of these people

  702. to wonder

  703. right?

  704. Because they're

  705. suffering

  706. because they're

  707. Christians.

  708. And you get

  709. in a situation

  710. where you're

  711. suffering

  712. for whatever

  713. however you

  714. might be

  715. suffering

  716. whatever it is

  717. you might be

  718. going through

  719. and it's easy

  720. to start to

  721. think

  722. maybe

  723. and you know

  724. that God

  725. doesn't forget

  726. right?

  727. And you know

  728. that God

  729. doesn't ignore

  730. people

  731. and you know

  732. that God

  733. knows everything

  734. but you start

  735. to think

  736. there's something

  737. wrong

  738. with me

  739. because

  740. God is

  741. not paying

  742. attention to me.

  743. God is sort of

  744. checked out

  745. of my life.

  746. I mean I hear

  747. all those things

  748. I believe all

  749. those things

  750. the things

  751. that the preacher

  752. talks about

  753. and the things

  754. that we talk

  755. about

  756. things we read

  757. in the Bible

  758. I know

  759. those things

  760. are true

  761. I just don't

  762. think there

  763. may be true

  764. for me.

  765. I know God

  766. is kind

  767. and gracious

  768. and loving

  769. and he's

  770. on the side

  771. of his people

  772. I just

  773. maybe think

  774. not so much

  775. for me

  776. personally

  777. and we kind

  778. of do that

  779. right?

  780. There's probably

  781. nobody in here

  782. as a Christian

  783. who doubts

  784. that God

  785. is loving

  786. and gracious

  787. but

  788. and you might

  789. not admit it

  790. and I might

  791. not admit it

  792. there's times

  793. where we think

  794. yeah he is

  795. loving and gracious

  796. but there's

  797. something wrong

  798. with me

  799. I've done

  800. something wrong

  801. and he's not

  802. acting that way

  803. towards me

  804. he does that

  805. for others

  806. and I know

  807. all these stories

  808. and I've read

  809. these books

  810. and I've heard

  811. these testimonies

  812. but for me

  813. in my life

  814. right now

  815. not so much

  816. and everybody

  817. I think has felt

  818. that way

  819. and so what

  820. Peter is saying

  821. right

  822. and he hasn't

  823. even told them

  824. how to humble

  825. themselves yet

  826. he's getting

  827. them ready

  828. so that they

  829. understand

  830. if they want

  831. to be

  832. humble

  833. that they will

  834. start with

  835. who God is

  836. remember that

  837. God is

  838. mighty and

  839. willing to

  840. save them

  841. and not just

  842. back when they

  843. became a Christian

  844. but the whole

  845. way

  846. and that

  847. he is on

  848. their side

  849. and is going

  850. to fulfill

  851. every promise

  852. for them

  853. and all

  854. these things

  855. all these

  856. things

  857. are the

  858. background

  859. for what it

  860. means to

  861. humble yourself

  862. now

  863. that finally

  864. gets us

  865. to the

  866. fourth point

  867. and look

  868. at it

  869. humble

  870. yourselves

  871. therefore

  872. I'll just

  873. read the

  874. two verses

  875. again

  876. under God's

  877. mighty hand

  878. that he

  879. might lift

  880. you up

  881. in due

  882. time

  883. then seven

  884. cast all

  885. your anxiety

  886. in him

  887. because he

  888. cares for you

  889. now

  890. it sounds

  891. like two

  892. things

  893. doesn't it

  894. it sounds

  895. doesn't it

  896. because you

  897. might think

  898. what

  899. he's not

  900. even talking

  901. about humility

  902. anymore

  903. in verse

  904. seven

  905. it's what

  906. it sounds

  907. like

  908. right

  909. because

  910. there's

  911. even a

  912. full

  913. stop

  914. there

  915. humble

  916. yourself

  917. under

  918. God's

  919. mighty

  920. hand

  921. he

  922. will

  923. lift

  924. you

  925. up

  926. in due

  927. time

  928. full

  929. stop

  930. then

  931. cast

  932. your

  933. anxieties

  934. on him

  935. because

  936. he

  937. cares

  938. for you

  939. but

  940. Peter

  941. is not

  942. telling you

  943. to do

  944. two

  945. things

  946. he's

  947. telling

  948. you

  949. to do

  950. one

  951. thing

  952. and

  953. then

  954. telling

  955. you

  956. how

  957. to

  958. do

  959. it

  960. now

  961. think

  962. about

  963. it

  964. for a

  965. second

  966. verse

  967. six

  968. humble

  969. yourself

  970. how

  971. do

  972. you

  973. do

  974. it

  975. right

  976. if

  977. this

  978. is

  979. two

  980. things

  981. if

  982. it's

  983. humble

  984. yourself

  985. done

  986. two

  987. cast

  988. your

  989. anxiety

  990. on

  991. God

  992. what

  993. is

  994. the

  995. first

  996. part

  997. how

  998. do

  999. you

  1000. do

  1001. it

  1002. do

  1003. you

  1004. just

  1005. think

  1006. okay

  1007. humble

  1008. yourself

  1009. here

  1010. it

  1011. comes

  1012. here

  1013. it

  1014. comes

  1015. it's

  1016. coming

  1017. okay

  1018. I did

  1019. that part

  1020. now

  1021. I'm

  1022. going

  1023. to

  1024. cast

  1025. my

  1026. anxiety

  1027. what

  1028. is

  1029. it

  1030. what

  1031. is

  1032. it

  1033. to

  1034. humble

  1035. yourself

  1036. did

  1037. you

  1038. ever

  1039. I mean

  1040. just

  1041. think

  1042. about

  1043. it

  1044. for a

  1045. second

  1046. don't

  1047. answer

  1048. out

  1049. loud

  1050. you

  1051. don't

  1052. have

  1053. to

  1054. answer

  1055. out

  1056. loud

  1057. but

  1058. just

  1059. think

  1060. of

  1061. verse

  1062. six

  1063. all

  1064. by

  1065. itself

  1066. humble

  1067. yourself

  1068. under

  1069. God's

  1070. mighty

  1071. hand

  1072. what

  1073. does

  1074. that

  1075. even

  1076. look

  1077. like

  1078. in

  1079. your

  1080. mind

  1081. as

  1082. you

  1083. imagine

  1084. it

  1085. you

  1086. might

  1087. even

  1088. have

  1089. a

  1090. vision

  1091. of

  1092. yourself

  1093. what

  1094. what

  1095. how

  1096. how

  1097. do

  1098. you

  1099. do

  1100. it

  1101. so

  1102. I'm

  1103. just

  1104. going

  1105. to

  1106. ask

  1107. you

  1108. how

  1109. do

  1110. you

  1111. humble

  1112. yourself

  1113. you

  1114. know

  1115. how

  1116. you

  1117. humble

  1118. yourself

  1119. by

  1120. understanding

  1121. that

  1122. Peter

  1123. is

  1124. not

  1125. saying

  1126. humble

  1127. yourself

  1128. command

  1129. number

  1130. one

  1131. humble

  1132. yourself

  1133. command

  1134. number

  1135. two

  1136. cast

  1137. your

  1138. anxieties

  1139. on

  1140. God

  1141. what

  1142. he's

  1143. saying

  1144. is

  1145. this

  1146. humble

  1147. yourself

  1148. here's

  1149. how

  1150. you

  1151. do

  1152. it

  1153. you

  1154. cast

  1155. your

  1156. anxieties

  1157. upon

  1158. God

  1159. or

  1160. cast

  1161. your cares

  1162. on

  1163. him

  1164. right

  1165. I've got

  1166. like

  1167. three

  1168. different

  1169. translations

  1170. going

  1171. on

  1172. my

  1173. head

  1174. so

  1175. I

  1176. need

  1177. to

  1178. keep

  1179. looking

  1180. down

  1181. all

  1182. your

  1183. anxiety

  1184. on

  1185. him

  1186. because

  1187. he

  1188. cares

  1189. for

  1190. you

  1191. that's

  1192. how

  1193. you

  1194. humble

  1195. yourself

  1196. how

  1197. do

  1198. you

  1199. humble

  1200. yourself

  1201. you

  1202. humble

  1203. yourself

  1204. by

  1205. casting

  1206. your

  1207. anxieties

  1208. on

  1209. God

  1210. and

  1211. not

  1212. trying

  1213. to

  1214. carry

  1215. them

  1216. yourself

  1217. so

  1218. he's

  1219. Peter's

  1220. great

  1221. he

  1222. tells

  1223. you

  1224. humble

  1225. yourself

  1226. and

  1227. then

  1228. says

  1229. oh

  1230. here's

  1231. how

  1232. you

  1233. do

  1234. it

  1235. now

  1236. you

  1237. think

  1238. what

  1239. does

  1240. casting

  1241. my

  1242. anxieties

  1243. have

  1244. to

  1245. do

  1246. with

  1247. humbling

  1248. myself

  1249. well

  1250. think

  1251. about

  1252. it

  1253. for

  1254. one

  1255. minute

  1256. what

  1257. could

  1258. say

  1259. what

  1260. could

  1261. show

  1262. humility

  1263. more

  1264. and

  1265. say

  1266. to

  1267. God

  1268. that

  1269. I

  1270. am

  1271. trusting

  1272. in

  1273. your

  1274. promises

  1275. I

  1276. am

  1277. trusting

  1278. that

  1279. your

  1280. hand

  1281. has

  1282. reached

  1283. out

  1284. to

  1285. save

  1286. me

  1287. your

  1288. mighty

  1289. hand

  1290. and

  1291. that

  1292. you're

  1293. on

  1294. my

  1295. side

  1296. more

  1297. than

  1298. coming

  1299. to

  1300. God

  1301. with

  1302. all

  1303. of

  1304. your

  1305. anxieties

  1306. and

  1307. whatever

  1308. they

  1309. may

  1310. be

  1311. and

  1312. saying

  1313. to

  1314. God

  1315. and

  1316. standing

  1317. before

  1318. God

  1319. with

  1320. your

  1321. hands

  1322. open

  1323. saying

  1324. I

  1325. can't

  1326. bear

  1327. these

  1328. myself

  1329. I

  1330. am

  1331. not

  1332. strong

  1333. enough

  1334. to

  1335. bear

  1336. the

  1337. things

  1338. in

  1339. my

  1340. life

  1341. and

  1342. hand

  1343. them

  1344. over

  1345. to

  1346. God

  1347. that's

  1348. what

  1349. biblical

  1350. humility

  1351. looks

  1352. like

  1353. biblical

  1354. humility

  1355. is

  1356. this

  1357. is

  1358. saying

  1359. to

  1360. God

  1361. I

  1362. can't

  1363. handle

  1364. my

  1365. own

  1366. stuff

  1367. and

  1368. we

  1369. need

  1370. to

  1371. hear

  1372. this

  1373. every

  1374. single

  1375. day

  1376. and

  1377. it

  1378. doesn't

  1379. matter

  1380. what

  1381. your

  1382. stuff

  1383. is

  1384. by

  1385. the

  1386. way

  1387. I

  1388. can

  1389. just

  1390. start

  1391. naming

  1392. some

  1393. things

  1394. and

  1395. I

  1396. will

  1397. it

  1398. could

  1399. be

  1400. your

  1401. anxiety

  1402. over

  1403. your

  1404. job

  1405. or

  1406. needing

  1407. a

  1408. job

  1409. or

  1410. maybe

  1411. losing

  1412. your

  1413. job

  1414. it

  1415. could

  1416. be

  1417. anxiety

  1418. over

  1419. your

  1420. children

  1421. whether

  1422. or not

  1423. they're

  1424. believers

  1425. or whether

  1426. they're

  1427. ill

  1428. or any

  1429. number

  1430. of

  1431. things

  1432. it

  1433. could

  1434. be

  1435. anxiety

  1436. that

  1437. you

  1438. have

  1439. over

  1440. parents

  1441. it

  1442. could

  1443. be

  1444. anxiety

  1445. you

  1446. have

  1447. over

  1448. people

  1449. from

  1450. work

  1451. because

  1452. of

  1453. whatever

  1454. tensions

  1455. or a

  1456. boss

  1457. it

  1458. could

  1459. be

  1460. anxiety

  1461. you

  1462. have

  1463. among

  1464. yourself

  1465. just

  1466. with

  1467. friends

  1468. it

  1469. could

  1470. be

  1471. the

  1472. anxiety

  1473. you

  1474. feel

  1475. just

  1476. when

  1477. you

  1478. leave

  1479. the

  1480. house

  1481. and

  1482. deal

  1483. with

  1484. other

  1485. people

  1486. it

  1487. could

  1488. be

  1489. the

  1490. anxiety

  1491. of

  1492. knowing

  1493. or

  1494. waiting

  1495. for

  1496. a

  1497. phone

  1498. call

  1499. from

  1500. a

  1501. doctor

  1502. and

  1503. you

  1504. suspect

  1505. bad

  1506. news

  1507. or

  1508. getting

  1509. that

  1510. phone

  1511. call

  1512. and

  1513. it

  1514. is

  1515. bad

  1516. news

  1517. it

  1518. could

  1519. be

  1520. the

  1521. anxiety

  1522. that

  1523. comes

  1524. from

  1525. struggling

  1526. day

  1527. in

  1528. day

  1529. out

  1530. day

  1531. in

  1532. day

  1533. out

  1534. with

  1535. temptation

  1536. and

  1537. sin

  1538. he

  1539. says

  1540. all

  1541. your

  1542. anxieties

  1543. he

  1544. doesn't

  1545. just

  1546. sort

  1547. of

  1548. name

  1549. five

  1550. all

  1551. of

  1552. them

  1553. so

  1554. what

  1555. that

  1556. means

  1557. is

  1558. whatever

  1559. you

  1560. got

  1561. you

  1562. think

  1563. well

  1564. what

  1565. anxieties

  1566. well

  1567. just

  1568. ask

  1569. yourself

  1570. what

  1571. anxieties

  1572. do

  1573. I

  1574. have

  1575. and

  1576. then

  1577. what

  1578. you

  1579. say

  1580. is

  1581. I'm

  1582. not

  1583. going

  1584. to

  1585. try

  1586. to

  1587. handle

  1588. these

  1589. myself

  1590. I'm

  1591. not

  1592. going

  1593. to

  1594. try

  1595. to

  1596. fix

  1597. these

  1598. myself

  1599. and

  1600. we

  1601. do

  1602. that

  1603. right

  1604. we

  1605. do

  1606. that

  1607. we

  1608. know

  1609. we're

  1610. usually

  1611. pretty

  1612. aware

  1613. of

  1614. what

  1615. our

  1616. problems

  1617. are

  1618. now

  1619. we

  1620. have

  1621. some

  1622. problems

  1623. we're

  1624. not

  1625. even

  1626. aware

  1627. of

  1628. and

  1629. other

  1630. people

  1631. see

  1632. but

  1633. I

  1634. imagine

  1635. that

  1636. every

  1637. one

  1638. of

  1639. us

  1640. are

  1641. pretty

  1642. much

  1643. experts

  1644. on

  1645. what

  1646. our

  1647. problems

  1648. are

  1649. but

  1650. yet

  1651. how

  1652. often

  1653. do

  1654. we

  1655. think

  1656. I

  1657. need

  1658. to

  1659. work

  1660. on

  1661. this

  1662. and

  1663. then

  1664. I'm

  1665. going

  1666. to

  1667. get

  1668. my

  1669. relationship

  1670. with

  1671. God

  1672. right

  1673. you

  1674. know

  1675. as

  1676. soon

  1677. as

  1678. I

  1679. work

  1680. on

  1681. this

  1682. thing

  1683. in

  1684. my

  1685. life

  1686. this

  1687. temptation

  1688. or

  1689. this

  1690. sin

  1691. if

  1692. I

  1693. can

  1694. just

  1695. take

  1696. care

  1697. of

  1698. this

  1699. and

  1700. work

  1701. on

  1702. this

  1703. then

  1704. I

  1705. can

  1706. go

  1707. to

  1708. God

  1709. in

  1710. prayer

  1711. because

  1712. you

  1713. think

  1714. you

  1715. ever

  1716. ask

  1717. God

  1718. for

  1719. something

  1720. you

  1721. ask

  1722. God

  1723. to

  1724. help

  1725. to

  1726. release

  1727. you

  1728. from

  1729. some

  1730. sin

  1731. and

  1732. temptation

  1733. you

  1734. think

  1735. I

  1736. can't

  1737. ask

  1738. for

  1739. this

  1740. again

  1741. certainly

  1742. I've

  1743. used

  1744. all

  1745. my

  1746. chances

  1747. and

  1748. so

  1749. what

  1750. I'm

  1751. going

  1752. to

  1753. do

  1754. is

  1755. I'm

  1756. not

  1757. going

  1758. to

  1759. commit

  1760. this

  1761. I'm

  1762. not

  1763. going

  1764. to

  1765. fall

  1766. in

  1767. this

  1768. sin

  1769. I'm

  1770. not

  1771. going

  1772. to

  1773. fall

  1774. in

  1775. this

  1776. sin

  1777. again

  1778. and

  1779. the

  1780. minute

  1781. I

  1782. don't

  1783. fall

  1784. in

  1785. this

  1786. sin

  1787. again

  1788. then

  1789. I'm

  1790. going

  1791. to

  1792. be

  1793. back

  1794. in

  1795. sort

  1796. of

  1797. I'll

  1798. be

  1799. back

  1800. on

  1801. God's

  1802. good

  1803. side

  1804. and

  1805. then

  1806. he'll

  1807. start

  1808. answering

  1809. my

  1810. prayers

  1811. so

  1812. in

  1813. other

  1814. words

  1815. what

  1816. you

  1817. say

  1818. is

  1819. I'm

  1820. going

  1821. to

  1822. start

  1823. with

  1824. myself

  1825. I'm

  1826. going

  1827. to

  1828. fix

  1829. myself

  1830. I'm

  1831. going

  1832. to

  1833. fix

  1834. my

  1835. problems

  1836. I'm

  1837. going

  1838. to

  1839. fix

  1840. my

  1841. sin

  1842. I'm

  1843. going

  1844. to

  1845. fix

  1846. my

  1847. anxieties

  1848. I'm

  1849. going

  1850. to

  1851. take

  1852. care

  1853. of

  1854. them

  1855. and

  1856. then

  1857. whatever

  1858. the

  1859. bits

  1860. I

  1861. can't

  1862. handle

  1863. then

  1864. I'll

  1865. take

  1866. the

  1867. leftover

  1868. part

  1869. that's

  1870. too

  1871. much

  1872. for

  1873. me

  1874. and

  1875. then

  1876. God

  1877. will

  1878. take

  1879. care

  1880. of

  1881. it

  1882. now

  1883. I

  1884. don't

  1885. think

  1886. any

  1887. of

  1888. us

  1889. think

  1890. in

  1891. those

  1892. sort

  1893. of

  1894. black

  1895. and

  1896. white

  1897. terms

  1898. but

  1899. that's

  1900. how

  1901. we

  1902. act

  1903. when

  1904. it

  1905. comes

  1906. to

  1907. God

  1908. that

  1909. we're

  1910. going

  1911. to

  1912. fix

  1913. the

  1914. little

  1915. things

  1916. or

  1917. the

  1918. things

  1919. that

  1920. we're

  1921. too

  1922. ashamed

  1923. to

  1924. bring

  1925. back

  1926. to

  1927. God

  1928. we're

  1929. going

  1930. to

  1931. work

  1932. on

  1933. those

  1934. and

  1935. then

  1936. get

  1937. our

  1938. relationship

  1939. back

  1940. on

  1941. track

  1942. with

  1943. God

  1944. what

  1945. Peter

  1946. is

  1947. saying

  1948. is

  1949. this

  1950. no

  1951. you

  1952. want

  1953. to

  1954. be

  1955. humble

  1956. and

  1957. here

  1958. basically

  1959. Peter

  1960. is

  1961. saying

  1962. you

  1963. want

  1964. to

  1965. live

  1966. a

  1967. real

  1968. authentic

  1969. Christian

  1970. life

  1971. he's

  1972. not

  1973. just

  1974. talking

  1975. about

  1976. a

  1977. characteristic

  1978. of

  1979. a

  1980. Christian

  1981. by the

  1982. way

  1983. what

  1984. it

  1985. means

  1986. to

  1987. be

  1988. humble

  1989. he's

  1990. really

  1991. talking

  1992. about

  1993. what

  1994. it

  1995. means

  1996. to

  1997. live

  1998. your

  1999. practical

  2000. Christian

  2001. life

  2002. not

  2003. just

  2004. have

  2005. the

  2006. humble

  2007. box

  2008. checked

  2009. off

  2010. and

  2011. says

  2012. cast

  2013. your

  2014. anxieties

  2015. on him

  2016. and

  2017. that's

  2018. what

  2019. a

  2020. humble

  2021. person

  2022. looks

  2023. like

  2024. a

  2025. humble

  2026. person

  2027. is

  2028. a

  2029. person

  2030. who

  2031. looks

  2032. at

  2033. God

  2034. and

  2035. whatever

  2036. their

  2037. trouble

  2038. may

  2039. be

  2040. whatever

  2041. the

  2042. anxiety

  2043. may

  2044. be

  2045. whatever

  2046. that

  2047. thing

  2048. is

  2049. that

  2050. you

  2051. lay

  2052. awake

  2053. at

  2054. night

  2055. staring

  2056. at

  2057. the

  2058. ceiling

  2059. that

  2060. maybe

  2061. only

  2062. you

  2063. don't

  2064. even

  2065. want

  2066. the

  2067. lights

  2068. to

  2069. go

  2070. out

  2071. because

  2072. you

  2073. know

  2074. when

  2075. the

  2076. lights

  2077. go

  2078. out

  2079. here

  2080. it

  2081. comes

  2082. rushing

  2083. in

  2084. on

  2085. you

  2086. maybe

  2087. you

  2088. held

  2089. it

  2090. back

  2091. all

  2092. day

  2093. by

  2094. being

  2095. busy

  2096. maybe

  2097. you

  2098. had to

  2099. go to

  2100. work

  2101. you had to

  2102. take care of

  2103. your kids

  2104. you had to do

  2105. all kinds of

  2106. other things

  2107. and then

  2108. at night

  2109. all of a sudden

  2110. you're

  2111. alone

  2112. you have

  2113. a moment

  2114. or you're

  2115. driving

  2116. the car

  2117. and here

  2118. it

  2119. comes

  2120. and you

  2121. know

  2122. it's

  2123. coming

  2124. what

  2125. Peter's

  2126. saying

  2127. is this

  2128. is

  2129. whatever

  2130. that

  2131. may

  2132. be

  2133. you

  2134. take

  2135. it

  2136. before

  2137. God

  2138. and you

  2139. hold

  2140. your

  2141. hands

  2142. out

  2143. and

  2144. stand

  2145. before

  2146. God

  2147. under

  2148. God's

  2149. hand

  2150. who's

  2151. ready

  2152. to

  2153. save

  2154. you

  2155. and

  2156. say

  2157. I

  2158. can't

  2159. I

  2160. can't

  2161. bear

  2162. this

  2163. myself

  2164. I

  2165. can't

  2166. fix

  2167. this

  2168. I

  2169. can't

  2170. make

  2171. this

  2172. go

  2173. away

  2174. I

  2175. can't

  2176. make

  2177. this

  2178. better

  2179. and

  2180. you

  2181. cast

  2182. it

  2183. on

  2184. God

  2185. who

  2186. can

  2187. carry

  2188. it

  2189. who

  2190. can

  2191. fix

  2192. it

  2193. who

  2194. can

  2195. maybe

  2196. not

  2197. take

  2198. it

  2199. from

  2200. you

  2201. immediately

  2202. and

  2203. make

  2204. your

  2205. life

  2206. all of a

  2207. sudden

  2208. a bed

  2209. of roses

  2210. but

  2211. can

  2212. intervene

  2213. in your

  2214. life

  2215. in a

  2216. real

  2217. way

  2218. and

  2219. show

  2220. you

  2221. that

  2222. his

  2223. grace

  2224. is

  2225. sufficient

  2226. for

  2227. you

  2228. even

  2229. if

  2230. that

  2231. means

  2232. your

  2233. troubles

  2234. are

  2235. not

  2236. going

  2237. to

  2238. disappear

  2239. that's

  2240. what

  2241. God

  2242. does

  2243. God

  2244. doesn't

  2245. typically

  2246. come

  2247. in

  2248. and

  2249. just

  2250. sort

  2251. of

  2252. take

  2253. away

  2254. your

  2255. disease

  2256. or

  2257. all of a

  2258. sudden

  2259. take

  2260. away

  2261. all

  2262. the

  2263. tensions

  2264. you

  2265. have

  2266. in

  2267. your

  2268. life

  2269. he

  2270. comes

  2271. in

  2272. and

  2273. teaches

  2274. you

  2275. how

  2276. to

  2277. live

  2278. in

  2279. those

  2280. things

  2281. and rely

  2282. on

  2283. him

  2284. in the

  2285. midst

  2286. of

  2287. it

  2288. God

  2289. teaches

  2290. you

  2291. that

  2292. he's

  2293. there

  2294. with

  2295. you

  2296. in

  2297. the

  2298. midst

  2299. of

  2300. it

  2301. that

  2302. he's

  2303. aware

  2304. of

  2305. your

  2306. suffering

  2307. he's

  2308. aware

  2309. of

  2310. your

  2311. anxieties

  2312. and

  2313. he

  2314. says

  2315. give

  2316. them

  2317. to

  2318. me

  2319. right

  2320. he's

  2321. the

  2322. all

  2323. powerful

  2324. eternal

  2325. God

  2326. and

  2327. says

  2328. to

  2329. you

  2330. who

  2331. are

  2332. not

  2333. all

  2334. powerful

  2335. and

  2336. are

  2337. not

  2338. eternal

  2339. and

  2340. are

  2341. not

  2342. almighty

  2343. and

  2344. don't

  2345. know

  2346. everything

  2347. and

  2348. can't

  2349. do

  2350. anything

  2351. can't

  2352. do

  2353. everything

  2354. the

  2355. one

  2356. who

  2357. can

  2358. do

  2359. everything

  2360. does

  2361. do

  2362. everything

  2363. who

  2364. creates

  2365. something

  2366. out of

  2367. nothing

  2368. who

  2369. created

  2370. the

  2371. whole

  2372. world

  2373. who

  2374. provided

  2375. a

  2376. savior

  2377. for

  2378. us

  2379. in

  2380. his

  2381. son

  2382. Jesus

  2383. Christ

  2384. says

  2385. I

  2386. can

  2387. do

  2388. it

  2389. what

  2390. can

  2391. he

  2392. not

  2393. do

  2394. if

  2395. God

  2396. can

  2397. forgive

  2398. your

  2399. sins

  2400. fully

  2401. do

  2402. you

  2403. believe

  2404. that

  2405. God

  2406. forgave

  2407. your

  2408. sins

  2409. fully

  2410. in

  2411. Jesus

  2412. can

  2413. he

  2414. not

  2415. also

  2416. then

  2417. bear

  2418. your

  2419. burdens

  2420. for

  2421. you

  2422. if

  2423. you

  2424. bring

  2425. them

  2426. to

  2427. him

  2428. it

  2429. can't

  2430. be

  2431. too

  2432. much

  2433. for

  2434. him

  2435. and

  2436. he

  2437. doesn't

  2438. look

  2439. at

  2440. you

  2441. and

  2442. say

  2443. alright

  2444. you

  2445. know

  2446. what I'm

  2447. talking

  2448. about

  2449. alright

  2450. here

  2451. we

  2452. go

  2453. again

  2454. because

  2455. James

  2456. says

  2457. in

  2458. chapter

  2459. 1

  2460. that

  2461. God

  2462. gives

  2463. without

  2464. holding

  2465. a

  2466. grudge

  2467. God

  2468. doesn't

  2469. you

  2470. don't

  2471. come

  2472. to

  2473. God

  2474. and

  2475. ask

  2476. for

  2477. something

  2478. and

  2479. he's

  2480. like

  2481. alright

  2482. I gotta

  2483. do it

  2484. I mean

  2485. I'm

  2486. God

  2487. and all

  2488. and

  2489. you know

  2490. I know

  2491. you

  2492. and all

  2493. your

  2494. failings

  2495. God's

  2496. not like

  2497. that

  2498. God

  2499. never

  2500. God

  2501. never

  2502. blames

  2503. you

  2504. for not

  2505. being able

  2506. to do

  2507. something

  2508. that

  2509. he

  2510. knows

  2511. you

  2512. can't

  2513. do

  2514. already

  2515. God's

  2516. not

  2517. going to

  2518. blame

  2519. you

  2520. for not

  2521. being

  2522. able

  2523. to

  2524. bear

  2525. your

  2526. own

  2527. anxieties

  2528. and

  2529. troubles

  2530. because

  2531. he

  2532. already

  2533. knows

  2534. ahead

  2535. of

  2536. time

  2537. that

  2538. you

  2539. cannot

  2540. do

  2541. it

  2542. and

  2543. that's

  2544. why

  2545. he

  2546. says

  2547. you

  2548. know

  2549. who

  2550. can

  2551. I

  2552. can

  2553. you

  2554. know

  2555. who

  2556. wants

  2557. to

  2558. I

  2559. do

  2560. you

  2561. know

  2562. how

  2563. I've

  2564. proved

  2565. it

  2566. to

  2567. you

  2568. is

  2569. I

  2570. have

  2571. taken

  2572. away

  2573. your

  2574. greatest

  2575. anxiety

  2576. and

  2577. that

  2578. is

  2579. sin

  2580. and

  2581. death

  2582. by

  2583. how

  2584. taking

  2585. it

  2586. upon

  2587. myself

  2588. in

  2589. the

  2590. person

  2591. of

  2592. my

  2593. son

  2594. and

  2595. so

  2596. that's

  2597. what

  2598. Peter's

  2599. talking

  2600. about

  2601. here

  2602. and

  2603. then

  2604. look

  2605. at

  2606. the

  2607. very

  2608. last

  2609. thing

  2610. and

  2611. this

  2612. is

  2613. it

  2614. we're

  2615. going

  2616. to

  2617. wrap

  2618. up

  2619. with

  2620. this

  2621. don't

  2622. miss

  2623. these

  2624. last

  2625. few

  2626. words

  2627. because

  2628. he

  2629. cares

  2630. for

  2631. you

  2632. right

  2633. God

  2634. doesn't

  2635. just

  2636. say

  2637. I

  2638. guess

  2639. I

  2640. got

  2641. to

  2642. do

  2643. this

  2644. I

  2645. mean

  2646. we

  2647. have

  2648. this

  2649. sort

  2650. of

  2651. relationship

  2652. and

  2653. it's

  2654. my

  2655. job

  2656. to

  2657. forgive

  2658. God

  2659. says

  2660. Peter

  2661. says

  2662. why

  2663. because

  2664. he

  2665. cares

  2666. for

  2667. you

  2668. and

  2669. that's

  2670. a

  2671. huge

  2672. question

  2673. for

  2674. you

  2675. to

  2676. ask

  2677. yourself

  2678. today

  2679. can

  2680. you

  2681. say

  2682. this

  2683. and

  2684. believe

  2685. it

  2686. well

  2687. here's

  2688. the

  2689. thing

  2690. you

  2691. can

  2692. say

  2693. it

  2694. and

  2695. believe

  2696. that

  2697. God

  2698. never

  2699. breaks

  2700. his

  2701. promises

  2702. and

  2703. it's

  2704. important

  2705. for

  2706. you

  2707. not

  2708. to

  2709. think

  2710. because

  2711. he

  2712. cares

  2713. for

  2714. me

  2715. I'm

  2716. not

  2717. really

  2718. feeling

  2719. it

  2720. the

  2721. idea

  2722. here

  2723. is

  2724. that

  2725. Peter

  2726. just

  2727. says

  2728. it

  2729. cast

  2730. your

  2731. anxieties

  2732. on

  2733. him

  2734. not

  2735. so

  2736. he

  2737. can

  2738. say

  2739. all

  2740. right

  2741. but

  2742. he

  2743. cares

  2744. for

  2745. you

  2746. it's

  2747. another

  2748. way

  2749. of

  2750. saying

  2751. because

  2752. he

  2753. wants

  2754. you

  2755. to

  2756. because

  2757. he

  2758. wants

  2759. and

  2760. desires

  2761. to

  2762. bear

  2763. those

  2764. things

  2765. for

  2766. you

  2767. he

  2768. bore

  2769. the

  2770. burden

  2771. of

  2772. your

  2773. sin

  2774. he

  2775. wants

  2776. to

  2777. bear

  2778. and

  2779. is

  2780. willing

  2781. and

  2782. more

  2783. than

  2784. able

  2785. he

  2786. wants

  2787. you

  2788. to

  2789. come

  2790. before

  2791. him

  2792. and

  2793. say

  2794. you

  2795. know

  2796. what

  2797. you're

  2798. God

  2799. I'm

  2800. not

  2801. you

  2802. give

  2803. and

  2804. I

  2805. receive

  2806. I'm

  2807. not

  2808. bringing

  2809. you

  2810. know

  2811. what

  2812. you

  2813. bring

  2814. to

  2815. God

  2816. all

  2817. your

  2818. stuff

  2819. you

  2820. know

  2821. what

  2822. God

  2823. gives

  2824. you

  2825. life

  2826. and

  2827. he

  2828. takes

  2829. it

  2830. from

  2831. you

  2832. so

  2833. say

  2834. this

  2835. to

  2836. yourself

  2837. today

  2838. not

  2839. because

  2840. he

  2841. cares

  2842. for

  2843. you

  2844. don't

  2845. say

  2846. you

  2847. because

  2848. he

  2849. cares

  2850. for

  2851. me

  2852. right

  2853. because

  2854. he

  2855. cares

  2856. for

  2857. me

  2858. I

  2859. can

  2860. take

  2861. my

  2862. anxieties

  2863. whatever

  2864. they

  2865. may

  2866. be

  2867. and

  2868. cast

  2869. them

  2870. upon

  2871. him

  2872. and

  2873. believe

  2874. that

  2875. I

  2876. don't

  2877. just

  2878. do

  2879. it

  2880. because

  2881. he's

  2882. God

  2883. but

  2884. he

  2885. personally

  2886. cares

  2887. for

  2888. me

  2889. calls

  2890. me

  2891. my

  2892. name

  2893. knows

  2894. who

  2895. I

  2896. am

  2897. and

  2898. loves

  2899. me

  2900. and

  2901. is

  2902. more

  2903. aware

  2904. of

  2905. my

  2906. faults

  2907. and

  2908. problems

  2909. than

  2910. anybody

  2911. more

  2912. aware

  2913. of

  2914. my

  2915. faults

  2916. and

  2917. problems

  2918. than

  2919. even

  2920. I

  2921. am

  2922. but

  2923. he

  2924. cares

  2925. for

  2926. me

  2927. and

  2928. this

  2929. is

  2930. what

  2931. Peter

  2932. says

  2933. so

  2934. you

  2935. want

  2936. to

  2937. know

  2938. how

  2939. to

  2940. be

  2941. humble

  2942. here's

  2943. how

  2944. you

  2945. I'm

  2946. not

  2947. going

  2948. to

  2949. fix

  2950. myself

  2951. by

  2952. myself

  2953. I'm

  2954. not

  2955. strong

  2956. enough

  2957. to

  2958. do

  2959. it

  2960. and

  2961. that's

  2962. a

  2963. very

  2964. difficult

  2965. thing

  2966. to

  2967. do

  2968. because

  2969. we

  2970. want

  2971. to

  2972. believe

  2973. that

  2974. we

  2975. can

  2976. in

  2977. fact

  2978. fix

  2979. ourselves

  2980. we

  2981. want

  2982. to

  2983. believe

  2984. that

  2985. we

  2986. can

  2987. in

  2988. fact

  2989. kind

  2990. of

  2991. tie

  2992. up

  2993. some

  2994. loose

  2995. ends

  2996. and

  2997. then

  2998. we'll

  2999. do

  3000. the

  3001. God

  3002. part

  3003. with

  3004. our

  3005. relationship

  3006. with

  3007. God

  3008. but

  3009. Peter

  3010. is

  3011. saying

  3012. you

  3013. don't

  3014. have

  3015. to

  3016. do

  3017. any

  3018. of

  3019. that

  3020. it's

  3021. all

  3022. free

  3023. because

  3024. God

  3025. cares

  3026. for

  3027. you

  3028. so

  3029. humble

  3030. yourself

  3031. under

  3032. the

  3033. mighty

  3034. hand

  3035. of

  3036. God

  3037. so

  3038. that

  3039. he

  3040. will

  3041. lift

  3042. you

  3043. up

  3044. in

  3045. due

  3046. time

  3047. by

  3048. casting

  3049. all

  3050. your

  3051. anxieties

  3052. on

  3053. him

  3054. because

  3055. he

  3056. cares

  3057. for

  3058. you

  3059. let's

  3060. pray

  3061. father

  3062. help

  3063. these

  3064. not

  3065. to

  3066. just

  3067. be

  3068. words

  3069. that

  3070. we

  3071. repeat

  3072. back

  3073. or

  3074. say

  3075. or

  3076. read

  3077. or

  3078. just

  3079. sort

  3080. of

  3081. agree

  3082. with

  3083. but

  3084. words

  3085. that

  3086. are

  3087. real

  3088. to

  3089. us

  3090. that

  3091. penetrate

  3092. our

  3093. heart

  3094. that

  3095. strip

  3096. away

  3097. all

  3098. the

  3099. barriers

  3100. that we

  3101. put up

  3102. between

  3103. ourselves

  3104. and

  3105. you

  3106. and

  3107. all

  3108. of

  3109. our

  3110. efforts

  3111. to

  3112. try

  3113. to

  3114. make

  3115. ourselves

  3116. better

  3117. but

  3118. help

  3119. us

  3120. to

  3121. believe

  3122. that

  3123. when

  3124. it

  3125. says

  3126. that

  3127. you

  3128. care

  3129. for

  3130. us

  3131. that

  3132. you

  3133. really

  3134. do

  3135. not

  3136. just

  3137. that

  3138. you

  3139. care

  3140. for

  3141. others

  3142. but

  3143. that

  3144. you

  3145. care

  3146. for

  3147. me

  3148. you

  3149. care

  3150. for

  3151. each

  3152. one

  3153. of

  3154. us

  3155. so

  3156. Lord

  3157. give us

  3158. the

  3159. grace

  3160. today

  3161. to

  3162. unload

  3163. our

  3164. anxieties

  3165. and

  3166. burdens

  3167. onto

  3168. you

  3169. and

  3170. to

  3171. trust

  3172. that

  3173. you

  3174. are

  3175. on

  3176. our

  3177. side

  3178. in

  3179. Christ's

  3180. name

  3181. Amen
