  1. to Genesis chapter 39. Genesis is at the beginning of the Bible.

    Genesis 39 chapter mention

  2. We're following along the life of Joseph. And again, if you've missed any of the talks,

  3. they're recorded for you on the Carragalline Baptist Church website. You can find a list of

  4. all the talks, and they've been provided for you to follow up on. So we're going to read

  5. Genesis chapter 39, all of it. They're wonderful accounts, wonderful true accounts that can teach

    Genesis 39 chapter mention

  6. us and help us. So let's hear God's word. Genesis 39, starting at verse 1.

  7. Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian, who was one of Pharaoh's officials,

  8. the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there.

  9. The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

  10. When his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord gave him success in everything he

  11. did, Joseph found favour in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his

  12. household and entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time he put him in charge of his

  13. household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph.

  14. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

  15. So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph's care with Joseph in charge. He did not concern himself

  16. with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well built and handsome, and after a while his

  17. master's wife took notice of Joseph's wife took notice of Joseph and said, come to bed with me.

  18. But he refused. With me in charge, he told her, my master does not concern himself with anything in the

  19. house. Everything he owns he is entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am.

  20. My master has withheld nothing from me except you because you are his wife. How then could I do such a

  21. wicked thing and sin against God? And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed

  22. with her or even be with her. One day he went to the house to his attendants for his duties, and none of the

  23. household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, come to bed with me. But he left his cloak in

  24. her hand and ran out of the house. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the

  25. house, she called her household servants. Look, she said to them, this Hebrew has been brought to us to make

  26. sport of us. He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed. When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak

  27. beside me and ran out of the house. She kept his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.

  28. She kept his cloak beside her until his master came home. Then she told him this story. That Hebrew slave you bought

  29. has come to me to make sport of me. But as soon as I screamed for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the

  30. house. When his master heard the story, his wife told him, saying, this is how your slave treated me.

  31. He burned with anger. Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined.

  32. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him. He showed him kindness and granted him favour in the

  33. eyes of the eyes of the prison warder. So the warder put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison and he was made

  34. responsible of all that was done there. The warder paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care because the Lord

  35. was with Joseph was with Joseph and gave him success, whatever he did.

  36. Well, let's pray together and we'll look at God's word. Let's pray.

  37. Father, you are good and kind. And you have shown that by giving to us your word.

  38. These true accounts of lives in the past.

  39. That teach us and encourage us today.

  40. And so we pray that you would speak to us afresh, that we would focus upon you.

  41. And you would build us up in our walk and in our faith in you.

  42. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

  43. The Lord be with you.

  44. Well done. I didn't think you would say it.

  45. That's right. The Lord be with you and also with you.

  46. Now, what are we asking when we say the Lord be with you?

  47. What are we asking?

  48. We say it all the time when we pray, especially when we don't quite know what to pray.

  49. Lord, be with Amy in Sheffield.

  50. Lord, be with the Rock and Rooted team.

  51. Lord, be with Liz today in hospital.

  52. Lord, be with because they're having a bad time.

  53. What are we actually asking for when we say the Lord be with you?

  54. Well, I think the answer to that question is found in Genesis 39.

  55. When God is with you, it makes all the difference.

  56. When God is with you, it makes all the difference.

  57. We're going to look at two big things.

  58. There's a bit of crossover with both of these ideas.

  59. But I think together they will help us see what it means that the Lord is with us.

  60. Two big things.

  61. That God is present and God is working.

  62. God is present and God is working.

  63. So first, God is present in the downs and ups of life.

  64. Whatever our experiences and circumstances, God is present.

  65. First, he's present in our suffering in the downs.

  66. Joseph, you remember, had been sold off to a bunch of slave traders by his brothers.

  67. So we pick up the story when Joseph is in a downer.

  68. Verse 1.

  69. Now, Joseph had been taken down to Egypt.

  70. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh's officials, the captain of the guard,

  71. bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there.

  72. Now, whatever way, whatever angle we look at this, it's not good, is it?

  73. Joseph's in a bad situation because slaves, well, they don't have rights

  74. and you don't enjoy a comfortable or restful life.

  75. Clearly, God is absent from Joseph's life.

  76. After all, if God is with you, you don't suffer, do you?

  77. Wrong.

  78. Look at verse 2.

  79. The Lord was with Joseph.

  80. God hadn't gone anywhere.

  81. God was right there with Joseph when his brothers had sold him

  82. and when Potiphar had bought him.

  83. You see, just because life isn't going wonderfully well,

  84. that doesn't mean to say God has gone AWOL.

  85. Just because this isn't the way we would plan or design our life,

  86. that doesn't mean God has stopped working in our life.

  87. No, God is present in our suffering.

  88. And it's also true that God is present in our successes when we're on the up.

  89. Joseph may be a slave with nothing to his name, but all that was to change.

  90. Verse 2.

  91. The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

  92. But when things are going good, of course, God is present.

  93. I mean, even Potiphar could see that.

  94. Verse 3.

  95. When his master saw that the Lord was with Joseph and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did.

  96. Well, Joseph was on the up.

  97. So it's obvious that God was with him.

  98. But what would happen to Joseph when things went down again?

  99. What then?

  100. Well, have a look at the very end of the story because things did take another nasty turn.

  101. Look at the end of the story.

  102. Verse 20.

  103. Joseph's master took him, put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined.

  104. Does that mean God has gone absent?

  105. Well, while Joseph was there in the prison, verse 21, the Lord was with him.

  106. You see, we tend to view God like this.

  107. If we're winning, if things are going well in our life, God is present.

  108. But if we're losing, if things are going badly, then God is absent.

  109. And we bring that kind of notion with us through the day.

  110. So if the day is sunny, unlike today, and the kids are good,

  111. and you find the parking spot that you need,

  112. Oh, God is with me.

  113. But if I go to the doctor and I receive some bad news,

  114. well then God is not with me.

  115. Or if you go to work and the boss calls you into the office to give you a raise,

  116. we can proudly say, God is present.

  117. But when my car breaks down on the way home and it costs me a fortune to fix,

  118. well then we think, God must be absent.

  119. But that's not how God works.

  120. The account of Joseph enforces the reality that God is always present,

  121. and God is always at work.

  122. Because our suffering is not a sign that God is absent,

  123. any more than our success is a sign that God is present.

  124. God is with us in the downs and the ups and the downs again of life.

  125. In fact, God is with you to bless those around you.

  126. So he's present in our suffering, in our success,

  127. and he's present with us in those times so that we can bless others.

  128. God was present with Joseph,

  129. and the reason is so that he would bless those he came in contact with.

  130. So verse 5.

  131. From the time Potiphar put Joseph in charge of his household and of all that he owned,

  132. the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian.

  133. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had,

  134. both in the house and in the field.

  135. Blessings rained down on Potiphar in the home and at his workplace.

  136. Joseph was that means of blessing.

  137. Now that shouldn't be a surprise to us.

  138. Have a look back with me to Genesis chapter 28.

    Genesis 28 chapter mention

  139. Genesis chapter 28.

    Genesis 28 chapter mention

  140. If we went back further,

  141. we'll remember that God made a promise to Abraham

  142. that he would be a blessing to all the nations.

  143. And so that promise continues.

  144. We pick it up in chapter 28, verse 14.

  145. God is speaking to Jacob, Joseph's father.

  146. Verse 14 he says,

  147. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth

  148. and you will spread out to the west and to the east,

  149. to the north and to the south.

  150. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.

  151. I am with you and I will watch over you wherever you go

  152. and I will bring you back to this land.

  153. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

  154. You see, God had made this promise

  155. that through the family of Abraham,

  156. through Isaac, through Jacob, through Joseph,

  157. God was going to bring his blessing

  158. and he promised that he would never ever leave them

  159. until he had done what he had promised

  160. and that was to bless the nations.

  161. So back to chapter 39.

  162. So Joseph is part of that great promise.

  163. God was with Joseph,

  164. bringing him all the way from Canaan to Egypt,

  165. from his own family to Potiphar's family,

  166. so that they would experience the blessing of God

  167. in their own lives.

  168. God was with Joseph in the downtimes

  169. and in the uptimes,

  170. so that Potiphar, a pagan ruler,

  171. living in a foreign land,

  172. might see that God is good and gracious.

  173. You see, is that not the calling of God's people today?

  174. Is that not the calling for the church today?

  175. Whatever situation we find ourselves in,

  176. remember the words of Jesus,

  177. go and make disciples of all nations,

  178. go and bring the blessing of the gospel,

  179. the good news of God's grace and mercy

  180. to all peoples

  181. and remember his promise

  182. and I am always with you

  183. to the very end of the age.

  184. You see, God is actively present in our life.

  185. It might be that God brings you into a hospital bed.

  186. It may be that God will give you a job promotion.

  187. But whatever season of life we find ourselves in,

  188. whether we're on the up or on the way down,

  189. God is present in your suffering.

  190. He's present in your success

  191. so that we might declare the blessing of God.

  192. That if we're in a season of suffering,

  193. we might be able to say,

  194. God is good and gracious.

  195. That if we're in a time of blessing,

  196. we might be able to say,

  197. God is sufficient and God is enough.

  198. So when we pray the prayer,

  199. Lord, be with,

  200. we're asking that God would work through them

  201. in such a way

  202. that they would bring the blessing of the gospel,

  203. the good news of Christ,

  204. so that they too may be blessed.

  205. So first,

  206. God is present in our downs

  207. and in our ups.

  208. The second big idea

  209. is this,

  210. God is at work in the temptations

  211. and trials of life.

  212. God is at work in the temptations

  213. and trials of life.

  214. Joseph,

  215. at the end of verse 6,

  216. is in a good place.

  217. He's risen through the ranks

  218. to become the right-hand man

  219. of one of the most powerful men

  220. in all of Egypt.

  221. But that doesn't mean

  222. he's going to be immune to struggles.

  223. First,

  224. God is working

  225. in our temptations.

  226. Look at the end of verse 6.

  227. Now Joseph was well built

  228. and handsome.

  229. He had a six-pack

  230. and had the chiseled chin.

  231. Something that had not gone unnoticed

  232. by a particular lady.

  233. Verse 7.

  234. After a while,

  235. his master's wife

  236. took notice of Joseph

  237. and said,

  238. Come to bed with me.

  239. You see,

  240. sometimes looks aren't everything,

  241. are they?

  242. Sometimes they bring

  243. unwanted attention.

  244. And it was becoming

  245. a real struggle

  246. for Joseph.

  247. Joseph's temptation

  248. is sudden.

  249. It's directed.

  250. It's constant.

  251. And it seems

  252. that there is no let-up.

  253. On and on it goes.

  254. Sorry,

  255. can you turn it up, Rob?

  256. Because I'm shouting

  257. more and more.

  258. Thank you.

  259. Thanks very much.

  260. God is present

  261. when it's raining.

  262. Don't worry.

  263. Joseph's temptation

  264. temptation is sudden.

  265. It's directed.

  266. It's constant.

  267. And it seems

  268. that in his temptation

  269. there's no let-up.

  270. On and on

  271. it goes.

  272. Every single day.

  273. Come on,

  274. Joseph.

  275. I know you want to.

  276. Come on,

  277. just come and sit

  278. beside me.

  279. Just a kiss.

  280. That's all.

  281. That's all.

  282. On and on

  283. the temptation goes.

  284. Now,

  285. why doesn't God

  286. step in?

  287. Why doesn't God

  288. just make it all

  289. stop?

  290. In fact,

  291. why did God

  292. make Joseph

  293. so good-looking

  294. in the first place?

  295. If Joseph

  296. had been just,

  297. well,

  298. not Joseph,

  299. but an ordinary

  300. Joe,

  301. he would never

  302. have had this issue.

  303. Is God

  304. absent again?

  305. No,

  306. God is at work

  307. in and through

  308. the temptation.

  309. Look,

  310. despite the

  311. ongoing pressure,

  312. look at verse 10.

  313. And though she spoke

  314. to Joseph

  315. day after day,

  316. he refused

  317. to go to bed

  318. with her

  319. or even

  320. be with her.

  321. how did

  322. Joseph

  323. resist?

  324. How did

  325. he not

  326. give in?

  327. Well,

  328. look at his

  329. response.

  330. It came in

  331. verse 9.

  332. No one is

  333. greater in this

  334. house than I am.

  335. My master

  336. has withheld

  337. nothing from

  338. me

  339. except you

  340. because

  341. you are

  342. his wife.

  343. Look,

  344. he's saying,

  345. I respect

  346. my master.

  347. And I

  348. respect

  349. you.

  350. But above

  351. all of that,

  352. end of verse 9,

  353. how then

  354. could I do

  355. such a wicked

  356. thing

  357. and sin

  358. against God?

  359. You see,

  360. Joseph is saying,

  361. look,

  362. you promised

  363. me so much,

  364. but I love

  365. God

  366. more.

  367. God is

  368. enough for me.

  369. God is

  370. sufficient for me.

  371. I don't

  372. need anything

  373. else

  374. or anyone

  375. else.

  376. you see,

  377. temptations

  378. reveal

  379. where our

  380. heart is,

  381. what we

  382. most

  383. love.

  384. They

  385. highlight

  386. where we're

  387. most weak

  388. and where

  389. we're most

  390. vulnerable.

  391. In fact,

  392. temptations

  393. keep us

  394. humble.

  395. Instead of

  396. thinking,

  397. I can handle

  398. this,

  399. I've got

  400. this,

  401. temptation

  402. throws us

  403. back in

  404. God,

  405. in desperation

  406. because we

  407. need him.

  408. You see,

  409. God never

  410. tempts us,

  411. but God

  412. uses the

  413. temptations

  414. we face

  415. to show

  416. our ongoing

  417. need of

  418. God.

  419. Joseph

  420. faced

  421. temptation

  422. and we

  423. all face

  424. temptation.

  425. For some

  426. of us

  427. it's sexual,

  428. for others

  429. it will be

  430. a desire

  431. for wealth

  432. and for

  433. power.

  434. It can be

  435. subtle things

  436. like a love

  437. of comfort

  438. or a

  439. longing to

  440. be popular

  441. amongst our

  442. friends.

  443. Basically,

  444. temptation is

  445. anything that

  446. comes alongside

  447. us and

  448. says,

  449. unless you

  450. have this

  451. in your

  452. life,

  453. your life

  454. is empty,

  455. you're

  456. unfulfilled.

  457. And we

  458. struggle when

  459. those temptations

  460. come in.

  461. And maybe

  462. we ask,

  463. why doesn't

  464. God step

  465. in?

  466. Why doesn't

  467. God take

  468. away this

  469. temptation?

  470. Why do

  471. I constantly

  472. have to

  473. fight and

  474. battle day

  475. after day?

  476. Well,

  477. temptations

  478. reveal our

  479. weakness.

  480. They throw

  481. us back

  482. to God

  483. so that

  484. we can

  485. see that

  486. God is

  487. enough

  488. and God

  489. is sufficient.

  490. That's what

  491. it was for

  492. Joseph.

  493. All that

  494. he needed,

  495. all that

  496. he ever

  497. required

  498. was in

  499. God.

  500. He didn't

  501. need

  502. anything

  503. else.

  504. You see,

  505. temptations

  506. grow us

  507. and they

  508. strengthen

  509. us as

  510. we depend

  511. upon

  512. God.

  513. So God

  514. is at

  515. work

  516. through

  517. our

  518. temptations

  519. and God

  520. is working

  521. through

  522. our

  523. trials.

  524. The

  525. pressure

  526. was enormous

  527. for

  528. Joseph.

  529. Eventually

  530. someone

  531. or something

  532. was going

  533. to give.

  534. look at

  535. verse 11.

  536. One day

  537. he went

  538. into the

  539. house

  540. to attend

  541. to his

  542. duties

  543. and none

  544. of the

  545. household

  546. servants

  547. were inside.

  548. She

  549. caught

  550. Joseph

  551. by his

  552. cloak

  553. and said,

  554. come to

  555. bed with

  556. me.

  557. Well,

  558. the timing

  559. was perfect.

  560. She

  561. caught him

  562. by surprise.

  563. They

  564. were alone.

  565. No

  566. one

  567. would

  568. ever

  569. know.

  570. What

  571. was

  572. Joseph

  573. going

  574. to

  575. do?

  576. Well,

  577. it seems

  578. the work

  579. that God

  580. had been

  581. doing in

  582. Joseph's

  583. life over

  584. the weeks

  585. and over

  586. the months

  587. strengthened

  588. him,

  589. gave him

  590. bottle for

  591. what was

  592. going to be

  593. his biggest

  594. test yet.

  595. Look at

  596. the end

  597. of verse

  598. 12.

  599. come to

  600. bed with

  601. me.

  602. But he

  603. left his

  604. cloak

  605. and ran

  606. out of

  607. the house.

  608. At this

  609. point we

  610. might say,

  611. well,

  612. all's well

  613. that ends

  614. well.

  615. Perhaps

  616. she will

  617. finally give

  618. up chasing

  619. Joseph and

  620. run after

  621. somebody else.

  622. After all,

  623. God owes

  624. Joseph,

  625. doesn't

  626. he?

  627. Joseph

  628. deserves a

  629. break for

  630. saying no

  631. all of

  632. these years.

  633. But that's

  634. not how

  635. the account

  636. ends.

  637. It goes

  638. from temptation

  639. to trial.

  640. Potiphar's

  641. wife went

  642. ballistic.

  643. She cries

  644. out,

  645. rape!

  646. You wait

  647. until Potiphar

  648. gets home.

  649. Look at

  650. verse 17.

  651. Then she

  652. told him

  653. this story.

  654. The Hebrew

  655. slave you

  656. brought us

  657. came to

  658. me to

  659. make sport

  660. of me.

  661. But as

  662. soon as I

  663. screamed for

  664. help,

  665. he left

  666. his cloak

  667. beside me

  668. and ran

  669. out of

  670. the house.

  671. Poor

  672. Joseph!

  673. It seems

  674. he doesn't

  675. even get

  676. a chance

  677. to be

  678. able to

  679. relay or

  680. tell his

  681. side of

  682. the story.

  683. And

  684. Potiphar

  685. sees red,

  686. verse 19.

  687. When his

  688. master heard

  689. the story,

  690. his wife

  691. told him,

  692. saying,

  693. this is how

  694. your slave

  695. treated me.

  696. He burned

  697. with anger

  698. and Joseph's

  699. master took

  700. him, put

  701. him in

  702. prison, the

  703. place where

  704. the king's

  705. prisoners were

  706. confined.

  707. Where's

  708. God when

  709. you need

  710. him?

  711. Joseph had

  712. done everything

  713. right.

  714. He had been

  715. loyal to

  716. Potiphar, he

  717. had been

  718. obedient to

  719. God, but

  720. not only does

  721. God not come

  722. to him, or

  723. so it seems,

  724. God lets

  725. this great

  726. injustice

  727. take place.

  728. Even worse,

  729. God leaves

  730. him in a

  731. stranded

  732. prison.

  733. No

  734. intervention,

  735. no miracle,

  736. just a

  737. dark dungeon.

  738. Where is

  739. God?

  740. What is

  741. God doing?

  742. You see,

  743. our expectation

  744. is that if

  745. we respect

  746. others, if we

  747. obey God,

  748. God is

  749. going to

  750. work good

  751. in your

  752. life.

  753. If you

  754. resist temptation,

  755. if you don't

  756. sin, God's

  757. going to rescue

  758. you from

  759. danger, he'll

  760. heal you if

  761. you're sick, he

  762. will provide

  763. with you all

  764. that you want.

  765. Just do the

  766. right thing, and

  767. then all the bad

  768. stuff is going to

  769. go away, right?

  770. not so.

  771. Joseph had

  772. done nothing

  773. wrong.

  774. He had done

  775. everything God

  776. had asked of

  777. him, but yet

  778. trials is what

  779. God brought

  780. Joseph through.

  781. You see, God

  782. is always

  783. present.

  784. He is always

  785. working in our

  786. lives, regardless

  787. of how bad or

  788. difficult the

  789. situation may be.

  790. In fact, God

  791. is always

  792. working for

  793. our good.

  794. God is

  795. working for

  796. our good.

  797. God was

  798. present with

  799. Joseph, and

  800. God was at

  801. work.

  802. So why, why

  803. did God leave

  804. Joseph in

  805. prison?

  806. Well, look at

  807. the end of

  808. verse 20.

  809. while Joseph

  810. was there in

  811. prison, the

  812. Lord was

  813. with him, and

  814. God showed

  815. him kindness

  816. and granted

  817. him favour in

  818. the eyes of

  819. the prison

  820. warder.

  821. So the

  822. warder put

  823. Joseph in

  824. charge of all

  825. those held in

  826. the prison, and

  827. he was made

  828. responsible for

  829. all that was

  830. done there.

  831. It sounds

  832. very familiar,

  833. doesn't it?

  834. Do you

  835. remember the

  836. beginning of

  837. this account?

  838. It's like we've

  839. been here before.

  840. It's a similar

  841. turn of events.

  842. Joseph's

  843. accommodation may

  844. be different.

  845. He's in a

  846. dungeon, not

  847. in a mansion,

  848. but there's a

  849. familiarity about

  850. it.

  851. There's this

  852. expectation that,

  853. well, God

  854. could be at

  855. work in the

  856. prison too.

  857. You see, if

  858. God brought

  859. Joseph to

  860. Egypt, if

  861. God caused

  862. Joseph to be

  863. a blessing

  864. to a

  865. pagan

  866. general,

  867. don't you

  868. think that

  869. God has a

  870. purpose for

  871. Joseph in

  872. prison?

  873. We're not

  874. told yet what

  875. that purpose

  876. is.

  877. We need to

  878. keep reading

  879. to find out.

  880. But we are

  881. given an

  882. assurance,

  883. aren't we?

  884. Look at the

  885. end of verse

  886. 23.

  887. the Lord

  888. was with

  889. Joseph and

  890. gave him

  891. success in

  892. whatever he

  893. did.

  894. So when we

  895. pray,

  896. Lord be

  897. with so

  898. and so,

  899. well, what

  900. we're saying

  901. is we're

  902. asking,

  903. Lord, would

  904. you enable

  905. that person

  906. to trust

  907. them in

  908. their difficult

  909. and struggling

  910. time to

  911. trust that

  912. you are

  913. working out

  914. good purposes

  915. for them

  916. and for

  917. others.

  918. God is

  919. working in

  920. our temptations

  921. and in our

  922. trials for

  923. good.

  924. So you

  925. see, as we

  926. follow the

  927. life of

  928. Joseph, in

  929. all his

  930. downs and

  931. ups, as

  932. we watch

  933. Joseph go

  934. through his

  935. trials and

  936. through his

  937. temptations,

  938. isn't it so

  939. similar to

  940. our own

  941. life and

  942. our own

  943. pattern?

  944. And we

  945. ask the

  946. question,

  947. where is

  948. God?

  949. Is God

  950. working?

  951. Well, God

  952. is present

  953. with you.

  954. He never

  955. leaves you.

  956. He is

  957. always at

  958. work in

  959. your life.

  960. Whether it's

  961. a time of

  962. suffering to

  963. show to

  964. others that

  965. God is

  966. enough and

  967. he is

  968. sufficient.

  969. even in

  970. our

  971. successful

  972. times and

  973. in the

  974. best of

  975. days, God

  976. is with

  977. you to

  978. show that

  979. God is

  980. good and

  981. gracious, that

  982. he has

  983. given you

  984. all that

  985. you need.

  986. And when

  987. we find

  988. ourselves in

  989. a time of

  990. trial and

  991. we're wondering

  992. what's going

  993. on, yes,

  994. God's purposes

  995. are being

  996. worked out.

  997. He is

  998. strengthening

  999. you.

  1000. He is

  1001. making you

  1002. strong so

  1003. that in

  1004. your life,

  1005. where you

  1006. are, you

  1007. can bring

  1008. God's

  1009. blessing to

  1010. others.

  1011. Let's pray

  1012. together.

  1013. Amen.

  1014. Father, thank

  1015. you that you

  1016. are present

  1017. with us

  1018. today.

  1019. And as we

  1020. go into

  1021. this new

  1022. week, while

  1023. the week is

  1024. unknown to

  1025. us, we

  1026. do not

  1027. know what

  1028. will unfold

  1029. before us.

  1030. We thank

  1031. you that you

  1032. are enough

  1033. and you

  1034. will be

  1035. sufficient.

  1036. Thank you,

  1037. Father, that

  1038. you are at

  1039. work in us

  1040. and through

  1041. us so that

  1042. we can

  1043. bless others

  1044. and show

  1045. others that

  1046. you are

  1047. good and

  1048. you are

  1049. kind and

  1050. meet us in

  1051. all of our

  1052. need.

  1053. So help us

  1054. to go with

  1055. confidence,

  1056. trusting you

  1057. and being

  1058. strengthened by

  1059. you.

  1060. In Jesus'

  1061. name,

  1062. Amen.

  1063. Amen.

  1064. We're

  1065. going to

  1066. sing

  1067. together.

  1068. Mine are

  1069. days that

  1070. God has

  1071. numbered, I

  1072. was made

  1073. to walk

  1074. with you.
