  1. And put my hand into his side.

  2. I will not believe.

  3. A week later his disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them.

  4. ! Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you.

  5. Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here.

  6. See my hands.

  7. Reach out your hand and put it into my side.

  8. Stop doubting and believe.

  9. Thomas said to Jesus, My Lord and my God.

  10. Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed.

  11. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.

  12. Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

  13. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

  14. Well, let's pray together and ask for the Lord's help as we look at his word.

  15. Father God, these words have been written down for us.

  16. That we may have life.

  17. And we pray that we may encounter afresh the risen Lord Jesus, each and every one of us.

  18. That we may see and know the life that the risen Jesus comes to give us.

  19. We ask for your help.

  20. We ask for your help.

  21. That we may be changed.

  22. As we see Jesus.

  23. Amen.

  24. So, do you believe in Jesus?

  25. I don't mean do you believe that Jesus existed.

  26. Most people believe that there was a man in history, a great teacher, a great leader called Jesus.

  27. But do you believe in, do you trust in the resurrection of Jesus?

  28. Most people don't believe.

  29. Perhaps you're here this morning and you don't believe.

  30. Or maybe you've got friends or family who don't believe.

  31. What do you think it will take for a doubter to become a believer?

  32. Well, in our text that we've just read, we meet a sceptic.

  33. Someone who was a doubter.

  34. Someone who does not believe.

  35. His name is Thomas.

  36. And Thomas has got questions.

  37. He wants to know if the resurrection is true.

  38. And if it is true,

  39. what will that mean for our life?

  40. Well, to help us understand and to get to the heart of this account,

  41. we're going to listen to three voices.

  42. We're going to listen to what the disciples say,

  43. what Thomas says,

  44. and what Jesus says.

  45. So three voices that we're going to listen to this morning.

  46. First, let's listen to what the disciples have to say.

  47. We have seen and we believe.

  48. Look at verse 24.

  49. Now, Thomas, one of the twelve,

  50. was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

  51. So Jesus had already visited the other disciples.

  52. So the other disciples told him,

  53. Thomas, we have seen the Lord.

  54. Of course, the disciples weren't the first ones to see the resurrected Jesus.

  55. This was the privilege of Mary.

  56. If you look back at verse 18.

  57. This is just after the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

  58. Verse 18.

  59. Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news,

  60. I have seen the Lord.

  61. Mary was the first eyewitness of the risen Jesus.

  62. And although she had seen and believed,

  63. it seems the disciples were not so convinced.

  64. They needed to see Jesus too.

  65. So verse 19.

  66. On the evening of the first day,

  67. so a week after the resurrection,

  68. when the disciples were together,

  69. with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders,

  70. Jesus came and stood among them and said,

  71. Peace be with you.

  72. After he said this,

  73. he showed them his hands and his side.

  74. And the disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

  75. They saw the risen Jesus with their own eyes.

  76. And so they go to Thomas in verse 25.

  77. Thomas, we have seen the Lord.

  78. Jesus was alive.

  79. He died.

  80. He was buried.

  81. And now he lives.

  82. They believed in Jesus.

  83. But you say,

  84. that's easy for the disciples to believe.

  85. I think if I was a sceptic,

  86. and I saw the physical risen Jesus right here,

  87. right now,

  88. my goodness me,

  89. I too would believe.

  90. You see,

  91. that's how so many unbelievers respond.

  92. I will believe if.

  93. I will believe if Jesus came and spoke to me audibly.

  94. I will believe in Jesus if he would heal my sick son or daughter.

  95. I will believe in Jesus if he would just end all the wars right now in the Middle East.

  96. I will believe if Jesus appeared to me in Barry Collins.

  97. Just bumped into him and there he was.

  98. What would it take for you to believe?

  99. What would convince the most hardened friend that you have to believe in and trust in the resurrection of Jesus?

  100. I will believe in Jesus if you fill in the blank.

  101. It's a reasonable way to think, isn't it?

  102. You see,

  103. if I said to you,

  104. I could jump up right here from now and touch the roof up there.

  105. I can.

  106. What would you say?

  107. Prove it, Johnny.

  108. Well, I'm not going to prove it.

  109. Because I can't.

  110. You see,

  111. in the same way,

  112. if we say to our friends or to family,

  113. Jesus died,

  114. and Jesus was raised from the dead,

  115. and he lives forever.

  116. And they turn around and say to you,

  117. well,

  118. prove it to me.

  119. What are you going to say to your friends to say Jesus was risen from the dead?

  120. What proof have you got?

  121. Well,

  122. it comes back to our statement,

  123. I will believe in Jesus if.

  124. In other words,

  125. people want proof.

  126. They want evidence.

  127. Which is exactly what Thomas wants.

  128. So,

  129. we've heard the disciples.

  130. Now let's listen to Thomas.

  131. Unless I see,

  132. I will not believe.

  133. Look at verse 25.

  134. The disciples came to Thomas and said,

  135. we have seen the Lord.

  136. But Thomas said to them,

  137. unless I see the nail marks in his hands,

  138. and put my finger where the nails were,

  139. and put my hand into his side,

  140. I will not believe.

  141. So just as Christ was nailed to the cross,

  142. and the Roman soldier pierced the side of Jesus with a sword,

  143. Thomas saying,

  144. unless I get to actually put my finger where those nail marks were,

  145. and see the side,

  146. and put my hand where he was cut with the sword,

  147. I'm not going to believe.

  148. I need to see.

  149. I need to be able to touch.

  150. I need evidence.

  151. Well, it seems that the risen Jesus was very gracious to Thomas,

  152. because evidence he asked for,

  153. evidence he gets.

  154. Verse 26.

  155. A week later,

  156. so this is now two weeks after the resurrection of Jesus,

  157. a week later,

  158. his disciples were in the house again,

  159. and Thomas was with them this time.

  160. But it's a similar account, isn't it?

  161. Though the doors were locked,

  162. Jesus came and stood among them and said,

  163. peace be with you.

  164. You see,

  165. Jesus' resurrected body

  166. was a transformed body.

  167. He could walk through walls and doors.

  168. But to dispel any thoughts of this being an apparition,

  169. or a kind of a ghostly or spirity figure,

  170. verse 27.

  171. Jesus said to Thomas,

  172. Thomas, put your finger here.

  173. See my hands.

  174. Reach out your hand and put it into my side.

  175. Well, Thomas heard the voice of Jesus.

  176. He could see Jesus.

  177. And he could actually touch Jesus.

  178. His request for proof has been met.

  179. But with the evidence,

  180. or the call for evidence,

  181. comes a call on his life.

  182. Verse 27.

  183. The end of verse 27.

  184. Thomas,

  185. stop doubting

  186. and believe.

  187. The risen Jesus has come to Thomas

  188. and demands a response.

  189. It's as if Jesus were saying to him,

  190. I've done what you've asked for.

  191. Now believe in me.

  192. Put your trust in me.

  193. Place all your confidence in me.

  194. You see,

  195. believing is much more than just an intellectual acceptance.

  196. It is a relational commitment.

  197. Jesus is saying,

  198. entrust your life to me.

  199. Submit yourself to me.

  200. depend upon me for your life.

  201. In around 1840,

  202. 1850,

  203. there was a man who was famous for his tightrope walking,

  204. Blondin.

  205. One of his most famous acts

  206. was to walk along a tightrope across the Niagara Falls,

  207. about a thousand feet in distance,

  208. 160 feet from the raging waters below.

  209. And there he performed his act

  210. in front of a crowd of about 25,000 people

  211. back and forth,

  212. up and down the rope he went.

  213. And then he produced a wheelbarrow.

  214. And he asked the crowd,

  215. do you think I can walk across this tightrope

  216. with a wheelbarrow?

  217. The crowd roared,

  218. yes,

  219. yes.

  220. And then he asked the crowd,

  221. do you think

  222. I could push someone

  223. in the wheelbarrow

  224. across?

  225. Yes,

  226. yes,

  227. said the crowd.

  228. And then came the question,

  229. any volunteers?

  230. Nobody answered.

  231. You see,

  232. it's one thing for you to say

  233. or for me to say,

  234. oh yes,

  235. I believe,

  236. but it's another thing to act on it

  237. and to entrust yourself

  238. to someone.

  239. Well,

  240. Jesus is coming before us this morning

  241. as he did to Thomas.

  242. and he is saying,

  243. entrust your whole life

  244. to me.

  245. Commit yourself to me

  246. and I will bring you through

  247. not just a tightrope across a river,

  248. but I will bring you

  249. from death

  250. through

  251. to life.

  252. I will take you

  253. from darkness

  254. into light,

  255. from condemnation

  256. into salvation.

  257. Trust in me

  258. and I will guarantee you

  259. eternal life.

  260. How is Thomas

  261. going to respond?

  262. He has the evidence

  263. before him,

  264. the call upon his life.

  265. Well,

  266. there is the confession.

  267. Verse 28.

  268. Thomas said

  269. to Jesus,

  270. my Lord

  271. and my God.

  272. Now,

  273. this isn't an expletive

  274. of one of fright

  275. or confusion.

  276. It's a confession

  277. of understanding

  278. and commitment.

  279. My Lord

  280. or

  281. my Master.

  282. But more than that,

  283. my God.

  284. Here,

  285. the risen Jesus

  286. stands before Thomas

  287. and Jesus

  288. has risen

  289. from the dead

  290. demonstrates

  291. to Thomas

  292. that because

  293. he is alive,

  294. he is God.

  295. And Thomas

  296. saw the evidence.

  297. He heard the call

  298. and now he confesses,

  299. my Lord

  300. and my God.

  301. Thomas

  302. entrusts

  303. himself

  304. to Jesus.

  305. He commits

  306. his life

  307. to God.

  308. He is the one

  309. who actually

  310. gets in the wheelbarrow.

  311. he entrusts

  312. himself

  313. to Jesus.

  314. Thomas

  315. sees

  316. and he

  317. believes.

  318. Now,

  319. the risen Jesus

  320. not only speaks

  321. to Thomas,

  322. Jesus

  323. speaks

  324. to us.

  325. So,

  326. we've heard

  327. the voice

  328. of the disciples,

  329. the voice

  330. of Thomas.

  331. Now,

  332. listen to

  333. the voice

  334. of Jesus.

  335. Blessed

  336. are those

  337. who have

  338. not

  339. seen

  340. and

  341. believe.

  342. Verse

  343. 29.

  344. Then

  345. Jesus

  346. told

  347. Thomas,

  348. because

  349. you have

  350. seen

  351. me,

  352. you have

  353. believed.

  354. Blessed

  355. are those

  356. who have

  357. not

  358. seen

  359. and yet

  360. have

  361. believed.

  362. You see,

  363. Jesus is

  364. saying to

  365. us and

  366. to our

  367. skeptic

  368. friends,

  369. even though

  370. we cannot

  371. physically

  372. see the

  373. risen

  374. Jesus,

  375. we can

  376. still

  377. believe.

  378. And this

  379. isn't just

  380. a step

  381. into the

  382. dark.

  383. This is

  384. not blind

  385. faith.

  386. No,

  387. this is a

  388. sure

  389. and certain

  390. faith

  391. which rests

  392. on the

  393. historical

  394. fact of

  395. the

  396. resurrection.

  397. Well,

  398. how can

  399. we believe?

  400. How are we

  401. to expect

  402. any of our

  403. family to

  404. believe?

  405. Or friends

  406. to believe

  407. if they

  408. cannot see

  409. Jesus?

  410. Well,

  411. three things

  412. for us

  413. to consider.

  414. First,

  415. it is

  416. written.

  417. Look at

  418. verse 30.

  419. Jesus

  420. performed

  421. many other

  422. signs in

  423. the presence

  424. of his

  425. disciples which

  426. are not

  427. recorded in

  428. this book.

  429. But these

  430. are written

  431. that you

  432. may believe.

  433. John,

  434. the author

  435. of the

  436. gospel,

  437. has recorded

  438. at least

  439. seven

  440. miraculous

  441. signs that

  442. Jesus

  443. performed.

  444. He

  445. changed

  446. water

  447. into

  448. wine.

  449. He

  450. healed

  451. the

  452. royal

  453. official's

  454. son.

  455. Then there

  456. was the

  457. lame man

  458. by the

  459. pool who

  460. was made

  461. to walk

  462. again.

  463. Then Jesus

  464. went on

  465. and he

  466. fed a

  467. crowd of

  468. more than

  469. 5,000

  470. people with

  471. five bread

  472. rolls and

  473. a couple

  474. of fish.

  475. Then there

  476. was the

  477. blind man,

  478. blind from

  479. birth,

  480. but Jesus

  481. touched him

  482. and he

  483. was healed.

  484. And then

  485. there was

  486. that resurrection

  487. of Lazarus

  488. from the

  489. dead.

  490. Jesus

  491. raised a

  492. dead man.

  493. And all

  494. of these

  495. signs have

  496. been recorded

  497. and written

  498. down for

  499. us in

  500. the gospel

  501. of John.

  502. It's like

  503. it's a

  504. book of

  505. evidence.

  506. And the

  507. seventh and

  508. final sign

  509. is the

  510. resurrection

  511. of Jesus.

  512. The

  513. testimony of

  514. those who

  515. saw him

  516. have recorded

  517. it.

  518. Mary saw

  519. the

  520. disciples

  521. saw.

  522. Thomas

  523. saw.

  524. These were

  525. the first

  526. eyewitnesses

  527. and they

  528. believed and

  529. their stories

  530. have been

  531. written down

  532. for you

  533. and for

  534. me today.

  535. In other

  536. words,

  537. what this

  538. is saying

  539. to us

  540. is that

  541. what's

  542. written

  543. down

  544. is

  545. enough.

  546. God's

  547. word

  548. is

  549. sufficient.

  550. We don't

  551. need any

  552. more

  553. signs

  554. or

  555. wonders.

  556. Can God

  557. do miracles

  558. today?

  559. Yes,

  560. he can.

  561. But we

  562. don't need

  563. signs or

  564. wonders to

  565. believe.

  566. No more

  567. I will

  568. believe if

  569. Jesus

  570. turned up

  571. at Barry

  572. Collins.

  573. No,

  574. it is

  575. written

  576. second

  577. so that

  578. we may

  579. believe.

  580. Look at

  581. verse 31

  582. again.

  583. These are

  584. written that

  585. you may

  586. believe that

  587. Jesus is

  588. the Messiah,

  589. the Son of

  590. God,

  591. and that

  592. by believing

  593. you may

  594. have life

  595. in his

  596. name.

  597. You see,

  598. all of these

  599. signs performed

  600. by Jesus

  601. have a

  602. purpose to

  603. show us

  604. that Jesus

  605. is the

  606. Messiah.

  607. He is

  608. God's

  609. chosen

  610. king.

  611. And the

  612. only right

  613. response is

  614. to believe

  615. and to

  616. confess like

  617. Thomas,

  618. my Lord

  619. and my

  620. God.

  621. You see,

  622. it's not

  623. that there's

  624. not enough

  625. evidence.

  626. It's that

  627. some people

  628. just don't

  629. want to

  630. believe

  631. the evidence.

  632. look back

  633. to chapter

  634. 11 with

  635. me,

  636. to this

  637. amazing

  638. account

  639. of

  640. Lazarus

  641. being

  642. raised

  643. from the

  644. dead.

  645. Chapter

  646. 11,

  647. verse

  648. 43.

  649. 43.

  650. So this

  651. is the

  652. sixth

  653. miracle

  654. or sign

  655. that Jesus

  656. performed.

  657. We'll pick

  658. it up in

  659. verse 43.

  660. So

  661. Lazarus is

  662. in the

  663. tomb

  664. and Jesus

  665. comes along

  666. and in a

  667. loud voice,

  668. Lazarus,

  669. come out.

  670. the dead

  671. man came

  672. out,

  673. his hands

  674. and feet

  675. wrapped with

  676. strips of

  677. linen and

  678. a cloth

  679. round his

  680. face.

  681. And Jesus

  682. said to

  683. them,

  684. take off

  685. the grave

  686. clothes and

  687. let him

  688. go.

  689. Therefore,

  690. many of the

  691. Jews who

  692. had come to

  693. visit Mary,

  694. Mary was

  695. the sister

  696. of Lazarus,

  697. they had

  698. come to

  699. mourn for

  700. him.

  701. when they

  702. had seen

  703. what Jesus

  704. did,

  705. they believed

  706. in him.

  707. But not

  708. everyone was

  709. happy,

  710. were they?

  711. Look at

  712. verse 48.

  713. This is the

  714. religious leaders.

  715. If we let

  716. him go on

  717. like this,

  718. if we let

  719. Jesus keep

  720. going on,

  721. everyone will

  722. believe in

  723. him.

  724. And then the

  725. Romans will

  726. come and

  727. take away

  728. both our

  729. temple and

  730. our nation.

  731. Verse 53.

  732. So from

  733. that day

  734. on,

  735. they plotted

  736. to take

  737. his life.

  738. Let's go

  739. back to

  740. chapter 20.

  741. You see,

  742. some saw

  743. and believed

  744. and looked

  745. to Jesus

  746. for life.

  747. Others

  748. saw

  749. and would

  750. not believe

  751. and instead

  752. of coming

  753. to Jesus

  754. for life,

  755. they wanted

  756. to take

  757. his life.

  758. You see,

  759. it's not

  760. that there

  761. is no

  762. evidence,

  763. it's that

  764. some just

  765. don't want

  766. to believe.

  767. The reality

  768. is Jesus

  769. could do

  770. anything and

  771. everything you

  772. asked for.

  773. Heal my

  774. child,

  775. stop the

  776. wars,

  777. appear to

  778. me,

  779. talk to

  780. me,

  781. but still,

  782. they would

  783. not believe.

  784. You see,

  785. believing in

  786. Jesus

  787. demands that

  788. we devote

  789. ourselves fully

  790. and completely

  791. to Jesus.

  792. True belief

  793. means we

  794. embrace Jesus

  795. as my

  796. Lord

  797. and my

  798. God.

  799. and that's

  800. the crux

  801. of the

  802. issue,

  803. to entrust

  804. yourself

  805. completely

  806. to him,

  807. to get

  808. into the

  809. wheelbarrow,

  810. to give

  811. your life

  812. to him.

  813. well,

  814. it is

  815. written

  816. that we

  817. may

  818. believe

  819. and have

  820. life.

  821. You see,

  822. as we

  823. do believe,

  824. as we

  825. trust in

  826. Jesus,

  827. we experience

  828. life in all

  829. its fullness.

  830. Look at

  831. verse 31

  832. back to

  833. chapter 20.

  834. But these

  835. are written

  836. that you

  837. may believe

  838. that Jesus

  839. is the

  840. Messiah,

  841. the Son

  842. of God,

  843. and that

  844. by believing

  845. you may

  846. have

  847. life

  848. in his

  849. name.

  850. That's

  851. what is

  852. promised,

  853. life.

  854. Well,

  855. what is

  856. this life?

  857. Well,

  858. listen to

  859. what Jesus

  860. said to

  861. those who

  862. encountered

  863. him.

  864. Here's a

  865. taster

  866. of what

  867. John

  868. promises.

  869. Jesus

  870. says,

  871. whoever

  872. drinks the

  873. water I

  874. give them

  875. will never

  876. thirst.

  877. Indeed,

  878. the water I

  879. give them

  880. will come

  881. in them,

  882. a spring

  883. of water

  884. welling up

  885. to eternal

  886. life.

  887. I am

  888. the bread

  889. of life.

  890. I am

  891. the living

  892. bread that

  893. came down

  894. from heaven.

  895. Whoever

  896. eats this

  897. bread will

  898. live

  899. forever.

  900. forever.

  901. I have

  902. come

  903. that they

  904. may have

  905. life

  906. and have

  907. it

  908. to the

  909. full.

  910. I am

  911. the

  912. resurrection

  913. and the

  914. life.

  915. The one

  916. who believes

  917. in me

  918. will live

  919. even though

  920. they die

  921. and whoever

  922. lives by

  923. believing in

  924. me will

  925. never die.

  926. I am

  927. the way,

  928. the truth

  929. and the

  930. life.

  931. No one

  932. comes to

  933. the Father

  934. except

  935. through

  936. me.

  937. Here is

  938. life

  939. that will

  940. quench

  941. you

  942. and satisfy

  943. you

  944. and

  945. fulfill

  946. you.

  947. It is

  948. life

  949. now

  950. and

  951. life

  952. to

  953. come.

  954. You

  955. see,

  956. this

  957. gospel

  958. has been

  959. written

  960. down

  961. so that

  962. we may

  963. believe

  964. and have

  965. life

  966. and so

  967. we can

  968. go and

  969. proclaim

  970. this

  971. life

  972. with

  973. absolute

  974. confidence

  975. and assurance

  976. to our

  977. skeptic

  978. friends.

  979. We

  980. don't have

  981. to produce

  982. miracles

  983. or signs

  984. and wonders.

  985. we tell

  986. them the

  987. same

  988. story

  989. which is

  990. exactly

  991. what John

  992. went on

  993. to do.

  994. Go with

  995. me as we

  996. finish

  997. please

  998. to

  999. 1 John

    1 John 1 chapter mention

  1000. chapter

  1001. 1.

  1002. It's

  1003. just

  1004. before

  1005. Revelation.

  1006. 1 John

    1 John 1 chapter mention

  1007. chapter

  1008. 1.

  1009. Towards

  1010. the end

  1011. of your

  1012. Bible.

  1013. page

  1014. number

  1015. 1225.

  1016. So the

  1017. same

  1018. author of

  1019. the gospel

  1020. writes a

  1021. letter

  1022. and tells

  1023. us that

  1024. the written

  1025. word about

  1026. Jesus is

  1027. sufficient,

  1028. it is

  1029. enough,

  1030. and it

  1031. leads to

  1032. life.

  1033. Let's

  1034. read from

  1035. verse 1.

  1036. This is

  1037. speaking about

  1038. Jesus.

  1039. That which

  1040. was from

  1041. the beginning,

  1042. which we

  1043. have heard,

  1044. which we

  1045. have seen

  1046. with our

  1047. eyes,

  1048. which we

  1049. have looked

  1050. at,

  1051. and our

  1052. hands have

  1053. touched,

  1054. this we

  1055. proclaim

  1056. concerning the

  1057. word of

  1058. life.

  1059. the life

  1060. appeared,

  1061. we have

  1062. seen it,

  1063. and testify

  1064. to it,

  1065. and we

  1066. proclaim to

  1067. you the

  1068. eternal life

  1069. which was

  1070. with the

  1071. Father and

  1072. has appeared

  1073. to us.

  1074. We

  1075. proclaim to

  1076. you what

  1077. we have

  1078. seen and

  1079. heard,

  1080. so that you

  1081. also may

  1082. have fellowship

  1083. with us,

  1084. and our

  1085. fellowship is

  1086. with the

  1087. Father and

  1088. with his

  1089. Son,

  1090. Jesus

  1091. Christ.

  1092. We write

  1093. this to

  1094. make our

  1095. joy

  1096. complete.

  1097. you see,

  1098. life is

  1099. experienced as

  1100. we hear the

  1101. written word

  1102. and believe.

  1103. No need

  1104. for I

  1105. will believe

  1106. if.

  1107. We have

  1108. the testimony

  1109. of those who

  1110. heard, who

  1111. saw, and

  1112. who touched.

  1113. And so we

  1114. can go with

  1115. confidence and

  1116. share the

  1117. same message

  1118. and show

  1119. that as we

  1120. believe,

  1121. verse 3,

  1122. we enter and

  1123. experience

  1124. fellowship with

  1125. the Father

  1126. and with

  1127. his Son.

  1128. We enter

  1129. into that

  1130. eternal,

  1131. loving,

  1132. joyful

  1133. relationship

  1134. of the

  1135. Father and

  1136. the Son.

  1137. A

  1138. relationship

  1139. that quenches

  1140. and satisfies

  1141. and fulfills

  1142. life in

  1143. all its

  1144. fullness

  1145. offered

  1146. freely

  1147. because of

  1148. what Christ

  1149. has done

  1150. for us.

  1151. Stop

  1152. doubting

  1153. and believe.

  1154. Let's

  1155. pray.

  1156. Amen.

  1157. Amen.

  1158. Amen.

  1159. Amen.

  1160. Amen.

  1161. As we

  1162. look afresh

  1163. at the

  1164. evidence,

  1165. as we

  1166. hear the

  1167. call

  1168. to believe,

  1169. we

  1170. confess

  1171. afresh,

  1172. my

  1173. Lord

  1174. and my

  1175. God.

  1176. We

  1177. thank you,

  1178. Jesus,

  1179. for your

  1180. death for

  1181. us,

  1182. for your

  1183. resurrection,

  1184. giving life

  1185. to all

  1186. who trust

  1187. in you.

  1188. Help us

  1189. to go

  1190. with confidence

  1191. and assurance

  1192. that we

  1193. too may

  1194. proclaim

  1195. the

  1196. written

  1197. word

  1198. that all

  1199. may come

  1200. and believe

  1201. and receive

  1202. life.

  1203. Father,

  1204. we pray

  1205. that for

  1206. everyone

  1207. gathered

  1208. here

  1209. today.

  1210. We

  1211. pray that

  1212. for every

  1213. child and

  1214. young person

  1215. who will

  1216. come to

  1217. rock,

  1218. to

  1219. rooted.

  1220. we pray

  1221. that for

  1222. our

  1223. friends.

  1224. We

  1225. pray it

  1226. for our

  1227. family.

  1228. Lord,

  1229. help us

  1230. to

  1231. proclaim

  1232. this

  1233. word,

  1234. this

  1235. word of

  1236. life.

  1237. Help us

  1238. now, we

  1239. ask in

  1240. Jesus'

  1241. name.

  1242. Amen.

  1243. Amen.
