Shalom, Precious One. You are warmly welcome to today's Morning
-
Glory devotion. It's a joy to come your way with
-
another inspired devotional written by Pastor and Mrs. Amwasa from
-
Harvest Chapel International, Denyame, Kumasi. Let us begin by sharing
-
a word of prayer. Father, we thank you for today.
-
As we listen to your word, we pray that you
-
open up our hearts to receive your word in the
-
name of Jesus. Grant us the grace to be doers
-
of your word. In Jesus' mighty name we pray with thanksgiving. Amen.
-
Let us kindly take our confession from Joshua chapter 1
-
verse 8. Joshua chapter 1 verse 8. This book of
-
the law shall not depart from my mouth, but I
-
shall meditate in it day and night, that I may
-
observe to do according to all that is written in it.
-
For then I will make my way prosperous, and then
-
I will have good success. Amen. Today's message is written
-
by Pastor and Mrs. Amuasa is titled, Adjusting to the Dove,
-
Cultivating the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Adjusting to the Dove,
-
Cultivating the Presence of the Holy Spirit. And our scripture
-
reference is from Ephesians chapter 4, verse 30 through to 32.
-
Ephesians chapter 4, verse 30 to 32. Reading from the
-
New Living Translation. And do not bring sorrow to God's
-
Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He has
-
identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be
-
saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger,
-
harsh words and slander, as well as all types of
-
evil behavior. Instead, Be kind to each other, tender-hearted, forgiving
-
one another, just as God through Christ Jesus has forgiven you.
-
May the Lord add his blessing to the reading and
-
the hearing of his word. Thanks be to God. Adjusting
-
to the Daft Cultivating the Presence of the Holy Spirit Dr. R.T.
-
Candell tells the story of a British missionary couple who
-
moved into a new home in Jerusalem. Soon after, they
-
noticed a beautiful turtle dove had come to nest in
-
the eaves of their roof. They were thrilled, viewing the
-
bird as a sweet symbol of God's blessing and peace
-
over their home. However, they quickly noticed a pattern. Every
-
time they slammed a door or raised their voices in
-
an argument, the dove would instantly fly away. Fearing the
-
dove would eventually leave and never return, the husband looked
-
at his wife and said words that became a foundational
-
spiritual lesson. Either the dove adjusts to us or we
-
adjust to the dove. Through our scripture, the dove is
-
a timeless picture of purity, gentleness and peace. Just like
-
the literal bird in Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit is sensitive
-
to the atmosphere we create. Not only in our homes,
-
but in all our relationships with family, friends, co-workers and strangers.
-
In our fast-paced and often chaotic daily lives, it is
-
easy to rush from one task to another, letting friction,
-
harshness and impatience become second nature. The Holy Spirit is
-
not loud, overbearing or intrusive. Rather, He is gentle, sensitive,
-
and holy. Hence, Ephesians chapter 4 verse 30 to 32
-
urges us to protect the tender presence of the Holy
-
Spirit by ridding our lives of bitterness, anger, and harsh words,
-
and instead choosing kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. Just as the
-
missionary couple had to speak gently and live peaceably so
-
the dove will stay, we must actively adjust our behavior
-
to honor the Holy Spirit. This means practicing patience when provoked,
-
choosing forgiveness over retaliation, and guarding our speech. As maturing believers,
-
we must stop expecting God to conform to our abrasive
-
habits and instead choose to submit and align our hearts, words,
-
and actions with His gentle presence. May we cultivate our
-
hearts with peace and love and adjust our lives daily
-
with the grace and love of God, ensuring we create
-
a welcoming atmosphere for the Holy Spirit every single day. Amen.
-
Our memory verse for today is taken from Ephesians chapter
-
4 verse 30. Ephesians chapter 4 verse 30 and I'll
-
be reading from the New Living Translation. And do not
-
bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember,
-
He has identified you as His own guaranteeing that you
-
will be saved on the day of redemption. Amen. Let
-
us kindly share a word of prayer. Father, we thank
-
you for your word that has come to us today.
-
We pray, O God, that you grant us the grace
-
to learn to speak gently and live peaceably so that
-
your presence will be active in our lives every single day.
-
We give you glory. We give you praise in Jesus'
-
mighty name. Amen. God richly bless you, beloved, for being
-
a part of today's devotion. We want to stay connected
-
and we want to join us once again tomorrow, same
-
time as we look into the world together. Shalom and
-
have a spirit-filled day. Amen.
