  1. We're in a season of consecration. The word consecration

  2. means to be dedicated to a sacred purpose. We're

  3. in a season as a church where we're asking God,

  4. set us apart. Purify us. We're opening up our

  5. hearts and saying, God, we're no longer satisfied

  6. with where we used to be in You. We want to go

  7. to a place that we've never known in You, be

  8. more effective for Your kingdom than we've ever

  9. been. And so we're opening up our lives and saying,

  10. consecrate us. Purify us. Set us apart. And I'm

  11. just so proud of you. Weeks ago, we started off

  12. our consecration season, September 27. This whole

  13. altar here was filled with gifts that you brought

  14. God. Things that were competing for your affection

  15. for God that you committed to give up during

  16. this season. I'm so proud of you. And I just

  17. want to encourage you not to give up in the process

  18. of consecration. I want to wet your spiritual

  19. appetite that there's coming in the days ahead,

  20. and I'm so excited about 2027. in my own life

  21. and in this church. There's coming days ahead

  22. where we're going to be operating in the kingdom

  23. like we didn't think possible. The Scripture

  24. says more than we can ask or imagine, doesn't

  25. it? Well, who wants that? Okay. I was telling

  26. them last night, I was sharing at the worship

  27. night, I've been meditating on this passage in

  28. the Old Testament on the consecration of the

  29. temple. where Solomon built a temple on the earth

  30. for God to dwell in. And it started with a desire

  31. in David and his father David and Solomon's heart.

  32. They desired to give God a dwelling place on

  33. the earth. They wanted to build Him a house.

  34. It says where He could put His name, right? And

  35. they wanted to commune with God. That was the

  36. initial desire. They wanted to have a communing

  37. relationship with God in that He was not just

  38. in the heavens. And that's what Solomon prayed

  39. in the consecration of the temple. God, we know

  40. that You can dwell anywhere in the heavens, but

  41. we want to provide a place for You. And I want

  42. to encourage you because I believe you as a church,

  43. you're one of the most hungry, desirous group

  44. of people. to commune with God, and for him to

  45. have a place to dwell, and for his kingdom to

  46. come to the earth. And that's the foundation

  47. that we've been building for years now. And then

  48. I want to fast forward to the end of the story

  49. in Saul's consecration of the temple, in that

  50. he consecrates the temple, he prays a prayer,

  51. he invites the presence of God, and if you read

  52. in the events, Fire literally comes down from

  53. heaven in their midst and consumes the sacrifice.

  54. And then the cloud of God's glory envelops the

  55. entire gathering place to the extent that the

  56. weight of His glory makes it impossible for the

  57. priest to carry out their priestly duties. I

  58. absolutely believe that that's where we're going

  59. as a church. We're going to be experiencing and

  60. operating in the glory and in the presence of

  61. the Lord that it's going to radically change

  62. everything in our lives, in our purpose. We're

  63. going to be operating in the fullness of God

  64. like we never have before. Does anybody want

  65. to go there? Here's what I was encouraging them

  66. last night. You got the first of the story, the

  67. end of the story, but in the middle, How does

  68. Solomon consecrate the temple? Sacrifices. Lots

  69. of them. In one record of the story, we read

  70. it last night, it's in 2 Chronicles 6 and 7.

  71. I think it said, we read it last night, it's

  72. 22 ,000 head of cattle and 120 ,000 sheep and

  73. goats were sacrificed. And the sacrifice... was

  74. so intense, so lengthy, that Solomon had built

  75. a bronze altar for sacrifice, but it wasn't big

  76. enough for all the sacrifices that were being

  77. made. So Solomon went out to the courtyard of

  78. the new temple. The courtyard, the gathering

  79. place. And it says he consecrated the courtyard

  80. as the place of sacrifice. and this is what I

  81. encouraged them last night, and I feel it strong

  82. in my heart to encourage you today. Do not give

  83. up in the season of sacrificing. God may call

  84. you to more sacrifice than you thought He would.

  85. More sacrifice than you thought you were willing

  86. to give up. Do not quit. Do not go back. It may

  87. take longer than you think. It turned out from

  88. this one event into a festival of days and days.

  89. of sacrificing your season of consecration in

  90. which god is purifying you asking you to live

  91. a surrendered sacrificial lifestyle it may take

  92. longer than you thought persevere don't give

  93. up and also it may take more space in your heart

  94. than what you originally thought they had to

  95. move from the altar to the courtyard because

  96. more sacrifices had to be made you may have to

  97. give god more space in your heart, your mind,

  98. your life, your solitude, than you thought you

  99. were going to. But I just want you to be so excited

  100. about the outcome. The outcome of His glory,

  101. of His presence, of His power. The reward is

  102. the fullness of Christ and operating in the kingdom

  103. of heaven on the earth. But there is a period

  104. of consecration that we're currently in. Do not

  105. give up. Do not pull out. Do not hold back. Keep

  106. going. I want to look at some principles of consecration

  107. from the lives of Jesus and John the Baptist.

  108. In my mind, when I think about all the heroes

  109. of the faith, and there are many, both in the

  110. Scriptures and in the history of the church fathers,

  111. so many heroes, but I can't think of two more

  112. consecrated people than Jesus and John the Baptist,

  113. who literally... lived all the days of their

  114. life on purpose for the kingdom of heaven. And

  115. so I'd like to just take a look at their lives

  116. for the next few moments. And we'll go as far

  117. as time allows. We're not in a hurry. And I'm

  118. also very aware of the time. And so we'll go

  119. as far into these principles as the Lord wants

  120. us to today. And then we'll pick it up next week

  121. and next week and next week until Jesus comes

  122. back. It would be great. We're in no hurry. Principles

  123. of consecration from the lives of Jesus and John

  124. the Baptist. Number one, I think we have these.

  125. Number one, thank you Valerie for putting these

  126. in for us. And all the other million things you

  127. do to make this place run on a weekly basis.

  128. We're so blessed to have Valerie on our team.

  129. Thank you. Number one, consecration should be

  130. generational. It's never too late to establish

  131. a consecrated lifestyle for the next generation.

  132. Consecration should be generational. It's never

  133. too late to establish a consecrated lifestyle

  134. for the next generation. Don't be discouraged.

  135. There's good truth for you. If you're saying,

  136. Jesse, I was not... consecrated as a child I

  137. was not given a childhood of consecration if

  138. you knew where I came from you would consider

  139. it a miracle that I'm even sitting here okay

  140. don't leave me because just because that's what

  141. you experience does not mean that God doesn't

  142. want something better for the kingdom when we

  143. look at the lives of what I believe the two most

  144. consecrated people recorded in history as they

  145. live their lives. What's interesting is it starts

  146. with a family that's consecrated to God. John

  147. the Baptist. We have Zachariah and Elizabeth.

  148. Jesus. We have Mary and Joseph. These people

  149. that are just normal people. Normal people, but

  150. that God encountered them. God reached into their

  151. life and called them out to be separate, to be

  152. consecrated. And these parents wrestled with

  153. consecration. You remember, right? When Zachariah

  154. was doing his priestly duties and the angel of

  155. the Lord came and said, I know your wife's barren,

  156. but you're going to have a baby. And he begins

  157. to prophesy about who John the Baptist is. You

  158. remember, Zachariah questions God in such a way

  159. that God strikes him dumb. He's not able to talk

  160. until after. John is born. And there's a struggle

  161. there. And of course, we know Mary even had her

  162. questions. How can this possibly be? I'm a virgin.

  163. I've never been with a man. And there was a struggle

  164. in them. Of course, Mary being rejected for being

  165. pregnant and not yet married. And there's a process

  166. that was consecration for the family. But I want

  167. to read. these beautiful passages. Let's turn

  168. in Luke 1. If you want to read the first three

  169. chapters of Luke this week, I think it will encourage

  170. you in this concept of consecrating our lives.

  171. Because we're not just consecrating ourselves

  172. for ourselves, we're consecrating ourselves so

  173. that God can do more than we ever thought possible

  174. in the future generation. Luke 1, verse 76. Just

    Luke 1:76

  175. focusing on a few passages here out of time,

  176. but I encourage you to read the whole thing.

  177. This is verse 76 in the midst of Zechariah's

  178. prophetic song. He's filled with the Holy Spirit

  179. and begins to prophesy over his son. In verse

  180. 76 he says, And you, my child, speaking of John

  181. the Baptist, will be called a prophet of the

  182. Most High. For you will go on before the Lord

  183. to prepare the way for Him, to give His people

  184. the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness

  185. of their sins because of the tender mercy of

  186. our God, by which the rising sun will come to

  187. us from heaven. to shine on those living in darkness

  188. and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet

  189. into the path of peace. In verse 80, speaking

  190. of John the Baptist, and the child grew and became

  191. strong in spirit, and he lived in the desert

  192. until he appeared publicly to Israel. And then

  193. if we look over at chapter 2, verse 39, through

  194. 42, we see Joseph and Mary doing their part,

  195. walking in obedience, walking in their own consecration

  196. to prepare the way for Jesus to walk in His.

  197. Verse 39 -42, And when Joseph and Mary had done

  198. everything required by the law of the Lord, they

  199. returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.

  200. And the child grew, the child being Jesus, the

  201. child grew and became strong. and he was filled

  202. with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

  203. And every year his parents went to Jerusalem

  204. to the feast of the Passover. And when he was

  205. 12 years old, they went up to the feast according

  206. to the custom. And what I want you to see is

  207. that both Zachariah and Elizabeth and Joseph

  208. and Mary lived a life of consecration to prepare

  209. the way for their children who would live more

  210. consecrated lives than they would. But they prepared

  211. the way. And here's the challenge of the consecrated

  212. lifestyle this morning. Don't give up. Press

  213. into the purification. Press into the time of

  214. sacrifice. Because you are preparing the way.

  215. For your physical children, your grandchildren,

  216. your spiritual children to walk in a consecration

  217. that you never thought possible. These parents

  218. raised their children in the fear of the Lord

  219. and the ways of God and set them in a place for

  220. them to experience their own consecration in

  221. miraculous and wonderful ways. Now, with that

  222. said, I would like to speak to those of you who

  223. did inherit a kingdom environment. You inherited,

  224. maybe not perfect, but you inherited a consecrated

  225. lifestyle. Your parents devoted themselves to

  226. the Lord. They loved God the best they could.

  227. They followed God. They served God. And they

  228. gave you the generational gift of knowing God

  229. and His ways. If that's you, why don't you just

  230. raise your hand. You say, my parents gave me

  231. the gift of consecration. Wow. Wow! First of

  232. all, let's just thank God. Thank You, God. Thank

  233. You, God. And here's what I want to encourage

  234. you. Do not waste it on the things of this world.

  235. Steward the consecration that you were given

  236. for the generations to come. It is not yours

  237. to give away. It was a gift given to you. Don't

  238. you dare waste it on the ways of this world.

  239. Press into consecration. Steward it well so that

  240. the generation after you can receive what you

  241. received with increase. You understand God is

  242. a God of stewardship. And when He returns, just

  243. like all the parables, He returns and demands

  244. interest on what He's given. Some people don't

  245. like that. I'm sorry. Read the New Testament.

  246. Parable after parable that Jesus spoke. He said,

  247. and when the Father returns with His angels,

  248. and then the parable. He's talking about the

  249. return. And how God expects interest. If you

  250. received an inheritance of faith and consecration,

  251. do not waste it. Steward it. Steward it. Steward

  252. it. Press into more so that you give the next

  253. generation with increase in interest. They ought

  254. to be operating in more than you were given.

  255. because of your own consecration lifestyle. Amen?

  256. You receive that? For those of you that did not

  257. inherit a consecrated lifestyle, you've come

  258. from places of brokenness, hurt, wounded, selfishness.

  259. We're not saying that your parents weren't good

  260. people, but they weren't kingdom people. And

  261. you did not inherit a lifestyle of consecration.

  262. Here's what I want to tell you. You are cycle

  263. breakers. You are cycle breakers. The blood has

  264. been spilt. The body has been torn so that you

  265. can move past what you were given into your inheritance

  266. so that your children and your grandchildren

  267. and your spiritual children can have what you

  268. did not. And I want to say, I am so proud of

  269. you. Jill and I were talking about this week,

  270. just between the two of us, we were talking about

  271. we know several families in our church that came

  272. from horrible, broken lives. And now they are

  273. living the consecrated lifestyle and they're

  274. pressing into it and their children are already

  275. walking in things that they never had. And I

  276. just want to say, good job. Well done, good and

  277. faithful servant. You received something that

  278. was broken and you were faithful to let God redeem

  279. it, and now you're operating and giving them

  280. a gift that you never had. It's miraculous. It's

  281. miraculous. God, we thank You for redeeming the

  282. brokenness. I just want to say, don't give up.

  283. Keep going. It's not easy to live a consecrated

  284. lifestyle. especially in the area of parenting.

  285. Hallelujah. I mean, you can't make this up. I

  286. walk up to church this morning. I see a man in

  287. our church I know serious about the kingdom.

  288. I said, hey man, how you doing? He said, man,

  289. me and my kid, we're just at it. I'm having to

  290. correct them over and over. I just told him,

  291. don't give up, brother. What you're doing...

  292. It's producing a life of consecration. Don't

  293. give up. Especially to you fathers. It's so easy

  294. on top of all of our other responsibilities that

  295. we feel like we have. It's so easy that when

  296. it comes to the family and the children to check

  297. out and let that be our spouse's job or our spouse's

  298. area. No, it's yours. You are the spiritual leader.

  299. You are the place. that God has used and intended

  300. to use to bring about a consecration for generations

  301. to come. Don't give up. Keep going. And I want

  302. to encourage you with this. It's not too late.

  303. If you're like, Jesse, man, my kids are grown,

  304. and man, I look back and I don't think I did

  305. a really great job of living consecrated or giving

  306. them a generational consecration lifestyle. Or

  307. you say, whatever it is, or I never even had

  308. kids, or whatever it is that the devil wants

  309. to try to use any kind of shame or guilt to disqualify

  310. you, I want to say to you, it's never too late.

  311. You say, well, maybe it is. Are you a barren

  312. lady laughing at God? Then it's not too late

  313. for you either. Some of you are like, Jesse,

  314. if you're prophesying kids, you can get on out

  315. of here. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm

  316. talking about it's never too late for you to

  317. start now providing generational consecration.

  318. Whether you're a grandfather, a great -grandfather,

  319. a spiritual father to two people, whether you're

  320. a disciple maker to one disciple, it's never

  321. too late. Don't stop. Don't give up. Press in.

  322. Because it is your job to make disciples. Not

  323. the preacher's job. It's not the church's job.

  324. Yes, it is the preacher's job, you know what

  325. I'm saying, in my own personal life. But it can't

  326. be skated off on anybody else. It's your job

  327. to make disciples. Moms, grandmothers, spiritual

  328. mothers. It's your job to create the consecrated

  329. lifestyle and give it to the next generation.

  330. Does that make sense? There is absolutely no

  331. limit to what God can do in you and in the generation

  332. that you're pressing in for. Limitless. Could

  333. we just pause right here? Let's just take a moment

  334. to repent if we need to. If we've relinquished

  335. our task of consecration, preparing the way for

  336. the next generation. If we've failed, if we laid

  337. it down, if we've ignored it, let's just repent

  338. right now. Just go to God honestly. Say, God,

  339. I'm sorry. I'm not thinking about it the way

  340. You've been thinking about it. I'm sorry. I want

  341. to change my mindset. I want to come back to

  342. this place You called me. Just repent right now.

  343. Isn't He gracious? So good to give the gift of

  344. repentance. Receive it. Receive the gift. Now

  345. let's commit. To be generational consecration

  346. people. What you do right here in this next five

  347. seconds can change generations until Jesus returns.

  348. Will you commit? Commit to Him. Good job. God,

  349. I too commit. And we're thankful that You will

  350. empower us by Your Spirit with everything we

  351. need for life and godliness. We're not fearful.

  352. About the task You've given us because we know

  353. You've given us everything we need in the moment

  354. that we need it. We trust You. And we have ears

  355. to hear what the Spirit says. Amen. Principles

  356. of consecration. Jesus and John. Number two,

  357. consecration is shaped and fortified by the difficulty

  358. of the wilderness. Isn't it interesting that

  359. the most powerful people we can find in the Scriptures

  360. all spent their time in the wilderness. Think

  361. about it. Moses, David, Elijah, the Apostle Paul,

  362. Jesus, John the Baptist. These people that have

  363. rocked eternity with the faithfulness of their

  364. lives. They were all forged and fortified in

  365. wilderness. Luke 1, verse 80, And the child grew,

    Luke 1:80

  366. speaking of John, And the child grew and became

  367. strong in spirit. And he lived in the desert,

  368. some of your versions say wilderness, until he

  369. appeared publicly to Israel. Of course, we flip

  370. over the page. Luke 3, verse 2. And during the

    Luke 3:2

  371. high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the Word

  372. of God came to John, son of Zechariah, in the

  373. wilderness. Just look across the page. Luke 4,

    Luke 4:1

  374. verse 1 and 2 there. And Jesus, full of the Holy

  375. Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led

  376. by the Spirit into the desert or wilderness where

  377. for 40 days He was tempted by the devil and He

  378. ate nothing during those days and at the end

  379. of them, He was hungry. The word for desert or

  380. wilderness here in the Greek, eromos, when you

  381. look at both... Strong's definition and Thayer's

  382. definition, they're listed out here, means lonesome,

  383. desolate, solitary, this is interesting, deprived

  384. of the aid and protection of others or friends.

  385. God often uses times of hardship and desolation

  386. to draw our hearts to Him and teach us to be

  387. completely dependent on Him alone. Listen, I...

  388. I can only imagine that for John growing up in

  389. the wilderness in isolation, eating locusts and

  390. wild honey, wearing camel's hair, I can only

  391. imagine that that's not an extremely comfortable

  392. way to come into the kingdom. Of course, Jesus,

  393. 40 days in this battle with the devil, of course,

  394. completely thrashing Him with the Word of God

  395. and being victorious as He is. but also not feeding

  396. His flesh, not eating for those 40 days in the

  397. wilderness, in those places of isolation and

  398. desolation. It was in those hardships that God

  399. forged them and many other great people of God

  400. into understanding that He was enough for them.

  401. And I want to encourage and challenge you. As

  402. you say yes, To this season of consecration.

  403. The glory season is coming. We're going to study

  404. through the book of Acts as a church. And we're

  405. going to read through the book. And everything

  406. that's available in the book of Acts. We're going

  407. to pray for God to do in us. It's going to be

  408. glorious next year. I'm so thrilled. But now.

  409. Right now. We're in the season. of wilderness,

  410. of consecration, of going into the place where

  411. you're not comforted by all the stuff and all

  412. the people, and it's you in him, and you've opened

  413. up your heart to him, and you've said, God, do

  414. the things in me that only you can do in me so

  415. that I can be the person in you that I dream

  416. of being. Be willing. I've heard from so many

  417. people that as we've said yes to the season of

  418. consecration, that it brought more hardship than

  419. you thought. And listen, some of that's just

  420. the devil getting mad that so many people are

  421. getting powerful in the kingdom. And just start

  422. kicking them in the teeth, in the name of Jesus,

  423. taking authority. Some of that is your own flesh

  424. raging against consecration. Does anybody else's

  425. flesh hate consecration? Mine does. Yesterday

  426. I had two beautiful parties that I went to, full

  427. of beautiful food. But I had already committed

  428. the day to fasting to the Lord, to consecrate

  429. my heart. So I watched people eat this glorious

  430. barbecue. And my wife said, you're not eating

  431. anything? Jerk. She knew I was fasting. My flesh

  432. hates consecration. But there's something on

  433. the other side that I'm going to. And I'm not

  434. going to let the dream of whom I'm becoming rob

  435. me of the season of consecration now. I'm going

  436. to press in. I'm going to let God put His finger

  437. on anything He wants to put His finger on. There's

  438. not one thing off limits to God right now. I've

  439. never lived in such a consecrated mindset that

  440. I am right now. And nothing is off limits. And

  441. He keeps touching stuff that I didn't know He

  442. needed to touch. Does this make sense? These

  443. seasons of wilderness are where we learn to hear

  444. His voice for ourselves. Oh, it's so good. Press

  445. into your desert or wilderness because you've

  446. got to learn to hear His voice for yourself.

  447. You've got to go to the place where the only

  448. voice you hear is the devil's and God's, and

  449. you determine which is which and which you're

  450. going to follow. We're in a Christendom where

  451. there's so many voices, and if we're not careful,

  452. we can live our life. off the overflow of our

  453. favorite preacher or our podcast or our favorite

  454. worship band or our favorite worship leader.

  455. But there's something that happens in the wilderness.

  456. If you won't get out too early, you begin to

  457. hear His voice and know it. And once you've come

  458. to that place, like Jesus said, the voice of

  459. another you'll never follow. These seasons are

  460. when we learn to have victory over the devil.

  461. Hallelujah. When we're fat and happy and too

  462. busy for our own good and the ways of this world,

  463. the devil's just feeding the fat and happy and

  464. the busyness so we don't think about it. But

  465. when we go into the wilderness, we meet our own

  466. flesh and we meet the devil and it's there in

  467. the power of God, in the consecration, in the

  468. communion of desolation with God. It's in that

  469. place that we have total victory over our enemies.

  470. I'm not trying to be... a downer here but i want

  471. to tell you i want to encourage you because i've

  472. done it i've done it don't short circuit your

  473. own maturity and consecration by refusing the

  474. wilderness or getting yourself out of it too

  475. early by your own efforts and the spirit will

  476. lead you the spirit will lead you It was the

  477. Spirit that led Jesus into the wilderness. The

  478. Spirit that led Him all through the wilderness.

  479. And the Spirit that led Him out of the wilderness.

  480. And He'll do it for you too. You say, Jesse,

  481. I don't know if this is a wilderness that God

  482. wants me to go to or if this is the devil trying

  483. to beat me up. Get alone with God. The Spirit

  484. will lead you. He'll lead you in. He'll lead

  485. you out. He'll lead you through. He knows exactly

  486. what you need and when you need it. And here,

  487. I want to encourage you in this. Now with Jesus,

  488. He didn't have any failures that we know of in

  489. the wilderness. John, when he walked through

  490. the wilderness of prison, he began to say, is

  491. this really Jesus the one we've been waiting

  492. for or should we look for somebody else? That's

  493. honesty in the wilderness. The guy who when the

  494. pregnant bellies came close, The Spirit of God

  495. jumped in Elizabeth's body. The Bible says that

  496. John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit

  497. from before birth. And that guy walks through

  498. the wilderness and doubts God. Maybe you and

  499. I, we have some failures in the wilderness. It's

  500. okay. It's okay. I know I've failed in so many

  501. wilderness. I literally went to the desert when

  502. I was deployed. And I thought I was strong for

  503. the Lord, and I crumpled into a little spiritual

  504. baby. My wife and I look back at those times,

  505. and we had some best friends that were deployed

  506. with us, and they thrived. They became stronger.

  507. They became what I want to be. And Jill and I

  508. wilted in the desert. But even through that failure,

  509. God redeemed it. He matured me. He changed me.

  510. He taught me. And now I have a testimony. So,

  511. just because you're in the wilderness, or have

  512. been in the wilderness, and you failed, or you

  513. wussed out, or you tapped out early, or you crawled

  514. into a little ball and cried like a spiritual

  515. baby, repent. Get back up. He'll redeem it. Even

  516. your failures are for your good. Even your failures

  517. He will use for your good to those who love Him

  518. and are called according to His purpose. Okay?

  519. Consecration is shaped and fortified by the difficulty

  520. of the wilderness. If you're in a wilderness,

  521. or if you're not, there's a high probability

  522. that you might in some time in your life. In

  523. this world, you will have troubles. Let us commit

  524. now. Let's commit now. God, I will not whine

  525. in the wilderness. I will not take a shortcut.

  526. I submit to You. Can we just do that? Just right

  527. now, you and the Lord, I submit to what you want

  528. to do in the wilderness. It's okay to tell them,

  529. if it's the devil, I don't want any part of it.

  530. And you shouldn't. Take authority, kick him in

  531. the teeth, walk in victory. But if it's something

  532. God, the Spirit of God's leading you into, walk

  533. with confidence. Lord, we commit the time of

  534. wilderness to you. We will draw near to you,

  535. not run away from you. We will cling to your

  536. voice, not reject it. This is our commitment

  537. to You. Lord, I know You see our commitments

  538. and it probably causes You to want to chuckle

  539. a little bit. You're like, Son, if You only knew.

  540. So would You release the grace necessary for

  541. us to be true to our commitment? Our hearts are

  542. right. We want to commit to walk through difficult

  543. seasons and victory and immaturity and letting

  544. You do it. Our flesh is weak, God. Release Your

  545. power for us to be faithful in the wilderness.

  546. Just like Your Son was. We want to be just like

  547. Him. Just like Him. We receive it by faith. Amen?

  548. 1150. I'll be quick with this one. We'll close.

  549. It's pretty straightforward anyway. Consecrated

  550. lifestyle is maintained through intentional times

  551. of solitude. There are times when the Spirit

  552. of God puts you into a wilderness. that creates

  553. a foundation of consecration in your life. But

  554. the consecrated lifestyle is maintained through

  555. your own choice to have times of solitude with

  556. God. You see all those verses. I mean, it's just

  557. a few of them. When we look at John the Baptist

  558. and Jesus, it was their nature to want to get

  559. away from the crowds, get away from the busyness,

  560. and go up on the mountain, go into the place

  561. of solitude, and spend time with God. And don't

  562. you know, with all the demands that were on their

  563. life, I just fully believe the only way that

  564. they were able to maintain that day -in and day

  565. -out consecrated lifestyle is they made the better

  566. choice to sit at God's feet. They made the choice,

  567. the intentional effort to get away. You know

  568. what Jesus was doing before He chose twelve beautiful...

  569. knuckleheads to be His disciples. He stayed up

  570. all night by Himself just Him and God praying.

  571. Receiving wisdom. Receiving revelation. Can I

  572. encourage you that you're not that special. That

  573. you can rock the consecrated lifestyle without

  574. spending time with God. You're not that great.

  575. If the greatest man ever born of woman needed

  576. times of isolation, if the Son of the living

  577. God had to get away from busyness and be alone

  578. with God, we need it. Because in these times,

  579. and I'm not, can I push you a little bit? I'm

  580. not talking about just your 15 to 30 minute devotional

  581. in the morning. That's not what Jesus was doing.

  582. He woke up in an attitude of prayer, absolutely.

  583. But there are times when he said, these crowds

  584. are too much. I'm going away. And then they would

  585. follow him and he would go away further somewhere

  586. else. He was very intentional about times of

  587. solitude. We need them because it's in those

  588. times in which we have whined to ourselves and

  589. cried until we're quiet before Him that He begins

  590. to shape us. That He begins to purge. The ways

  591. of the world. The thinking of the world out of

  592. our hearts and our mind. And He begins to infuse

  593. in us the Spirit of God. He reminds us of our

  594. purpose. He reminds us of the reason why we live

  595. consecrated. And those times are very important.

  596. Could this not be theoretical? And I'm asking

  597. you to be serious. When is the last time you

  598. scheduled two hours to be alone with God? Two

  599. hours. Just you and God. alone somewhere when's

  600. the last time when's the last time you did four

  601. hours just press in five minutes in you may be

  602. thinking this was the dumbest decision i ever

  603. made but if you'll press in those four hours

  604. will change your life does anybody know what

  605. i'm talking about when's the last time you gave

  606. him eight hours i said jesse eight hours you're

  607. gonna live like 800 000 or something some crazy

  608. number Eight's really not that big a deal. When's

  609. the last time you gave Him 24 hours? Oh man,

  610. this is where it starts getting good. I'm telling

  611. you, you get 24 hours just you alone with God,

  612. rent a hotel room and throw the TV in the hallway,

  613. put down your phone, go to a friend's cabin.

  614. beg a buddy's lake house, whatever it takes,

  615. and give him 24 hours of solitude, and I promise

  616. you that you will walk away a changed person.

  617. You cannot encounter him in solitude and not

  618. be changed. The problem is, Christendom is operating

  619. on leftovers and not on solitude. We're not operating

  620. in the overflow of spending that time with him.

  621. Husbands, do it. schedule it, and then make time

  622. for your wives and your children. Do whatever's

  623. necessary to give your wife 24 hours. Whatever

  624. it takes. Whatever you got to do. Nag her if

  625. necessary. Do all the things. And if she takes

  626. that 24 hours and goes shopping at TJ Maxx, that's

  627. not on you. You create the 24 hours and say,

  628. babe, this is what God has called me to do to

  629. lead you into solitude. Challenge your children.

  630. We'll do everything in the world to make sure

  631. they're successful in finance, in the world,

  632. in sports, in business. When's the last time

  633. you created space and told them you're going

  634. to spend this time in solitude with God and guided

  635. them through the process? It's so important.

  636. I can't tell you how crazy Our lives would be

  637. adjusted for the kingdom of heaven if every person

  638. in this room gave God four hours of solitude

  639. this week. Try me. Let's do it. It's never going

  640. to happen by accident. If you have to schedule

  641. your dentist, you're probably going to have to

  642. schedule God. As sad as it is. I'll be like,

  643. well, one day the heavens will open up. I'll

  644. have nothing to do with four hours. I'll feel

  645. like fasting. It'll be glorious. No, it won't

  646. be like that. Make a commitment. Schedule it

  647. like you would priority for anything else in

  648. your life and keep it. I don't think that takes

  649. the passion out of meeting with God to schedule

  650. time with Him. Is that good? Can we stand together?

  651. I want to give you a moment to commit to time

  652. alone with God whether it's one hour, two, four,

  653. six, eight, twenty -four. Go on quest and give

  654. Him five and a half days. It'll change your life

  655. forever. I guarantee it. Guarantee it. So let's

  656. just commit to the Lord for a moment. If you're

  657. scared, just say, God, I'm scared about spending

  658. an hour with You alone. I'm scared, but I still

  659. say yes. Help me. We say yes, God. In closing,

  660. we had a prophetic word from our ministry team

  661. through Noah Walker this morning. He said, I

  662. thought it was just for the mission team, but

  663. I feel like it's for today. He said, I believe

  664. that the Lord wants to pour out His Spirit on

  665. those who are hungry. Tongues of fire, a wind

  666. from heaven, just like Pentecost. So, because

  667. here's the deal, a consecrated lifestyle is only

  668. possible through the person of the Holy Spirit.

  669. Moments of consecration you can do on your own

  670. willful willpower, right? You're just making

  671. a decision. But continuing a lifestyle of consecration

  672. is only possible through the empowerment of the

  673. Holy Spirit. If you're hungry for a fresh filling,

  674. why don't you just put your hands out in front

  675. of you in a receiving fashion. And I would like

  676. to read these words of our King, Luke 11. And

  677. so I say to you, ask and it will be given to

  678. you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door

  679. will be opened to you. For everyone who asks,

  680. receives. He who seeks, finds. And to him who

  681. knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you

  682. fathers, if your son asks him for a fish, will

  683. give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an

  684. egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though

  685. you are evil, know how to give good gifts to

  686. your children, how much more will your Father

  687. in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask

  688. Him? Father, on the authority of the prophetic

  689. Word that You gave Noah, we just put ourselves

  690. in receiving fashion. And on the authority of

  691. the eternal Word of Your Son Jesus, we ask, seek,

  692. and knock. And You, our good Father, would You

  693. be pleased to pour out on us the gift of Your

  694. Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, come. Baptize us. Fill

  695. us to overflow. Wind of heaven, come. Fire of

  696. God, come. I'm honestly having to make myself

  697. stay on my feet right now. We love you, Holy

  698. Spirit. We honor you. Keep filling us. Keep filling

  699. us, Holy Spirit. We just want to be more in love

  700. with Jesus and useful for the Father's kingdom.

  701. Fill us. We welcome you, Holy Spirit. We honor

  702. you. We love you. And we always will. We receive

  703. fresh baptism today. In Jesus' name, amen.
