So let me tell you a little bit about Pastor Steve and then I'll have him come.
-
Pastor Steve uh is has over thirty-five years of ministry experience, military chaplain, senior military chaplain.
-
He's retired now.
-
And what he does for a living now is teach people about the unseen realm.
-
He teaches people about angels and demons and the heavenly realm and more importantly, practical ways that we can live our life that cooperates with God and what his results are supposed to be.
-
And he spends a lot of time counseling people and doing deliverance ministry.
-
He would actually be known as a demonologist, which sounds kind of funny.
-
But how many of you know it's important to have specialists?
-
Everybody can't give their life to everything.
-
We can't be specialists in everything.
-
So we need people who have devoted an extraordinary amount of time and effort and dedication to studying specific things and then teaching us about those specific things, right?
-
And he is a specialist, special forces, special spiritual forces.
-
And uh without further ado, I just want to have Pastor Steve come.
-
Let's welcome him, give him a hand.
-
We're glad to have you here.
-
And so I'm gonna pray, and then you can pray if you want to.
-
Make sure your mic's on, and we're gonna dive in.
-
So, Father, thank you for the anointing that's on this man.
-
Thank you that you have anointed him to rightly divide the word of truth.
-
You've anointed him to help us see and know things that are not easy to see and know.
-
God, I pray that you would anoint our ears to hear and our eyes to see.
-
Give us revelation.
-
Teach us, change the way that we think and believe today, and use Pastor Steve to do it.
-
In Jesus' name.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Can we bring up that uh slide?
-
I saw this slide uh online, and it said that after two minutes, God realized that Adam was definitely gonna need some help.
-
This reminds me of a time that uh Ben and I were out for coffee, and Ben said, you know, uh Steve, I feel like God is calling me to start a church here uh in the prospero area.
-
After two minutes of talking with him, I realized I said, This brother is gonna need some help.
-
So I went home that night.
-
You didn't know about this.
-
I went on that night.
-
I prayed.
-
I said, Lord, Ben is gonna need some help.
-
And I heard a thunderous voice from heaven say, I've already sent him help.
-
I said, Who is that, Lord?
-
He said, His wife, Pastor Mellon.
-
Can we give the shepherds of this house a hand clap of appreciation?
-
Thank God for you.
-
Unfortunately.
-
You know, uh, you know, I was teasing, you know, being here a few minutes ago, but you know, I uh being in ministry all the years I've been in ministry over 35 years, there's no way if it's possible that I could have done this on my own without the support of my bride of 35 years.
-
So, Octavia, can you please stand?
-
And also I have a lot of my friends and family present here.
-
Can you, can all my friends, family, can you stand for a moment to be recognized here?
-
And as you as you remain standing, just uh remain standing for just a moment, can you just point your hand toward the hands toward the the shepherds of this this home, this house?
-
Let's bless them right now.
-
Father, in the name of Christ Jesus, I pray that you will continue to bless and keep and prosper the wards as a shepherd this house in Jesus' name, amen.
-
All right, you may be seated.
-
All right.
-
Um we're just gonna go to the uh next slide for me.
-
I'll just keep saying next.
-
I got a few slides here to just kind of keep us on point.
-
Uh if you read my book, uh When Demons Surface, chapters two and three, or if you heard any of my podcast interviews, you'll know that when I gave my life to Christ, I started having spiritual warfare issues.
-
Now, interestingly, up until that point, I was age 16, still in high school, submitted my life to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
-
I had had no problems with demons, spiritual warfare, did not even believe at that point that it really existed.
-
But when I submitted my life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ as a 16-year-old, all hell broke loose.
-
I started instantly, immediately having sleep paralysis.
-
And at one point, I had a hand around my neck choking me in the middle of the night when I reached up to grab the arm, there was no arm.
-
This happened for about three years until I was a sophomore, a sophomore in college.
-
Then my little brother said, What in the world?
-
We didn't know that was happening.
-
I was a sophomore in college.
-
I had been trying everything.
-
I tried spiritual warfare prayers.
-
I spent about an hour a day praying in the spirit, did not resolve it.
-
Until one day I was watching Christian television, and a pastor on TV challenged us to start reciting every day this ancient prayer.
-
So I said, What do I have to lose?
-
So I tried, I started praying that ancient prayer.
-
That night, I woke up from that night, no spiritual warfare attacks.
-
Second night, no spiritual warfare attacks.
-
Now, for nearly 30 odd years, I've had no spiritual warfare attacks, nothing but the peace of God every night when I went to bed.
-
Now I know what you're thinking.
-
What is this ancient prayer?
-
I'm glad you asked.
-
The Lord's Prayer.
-
This is my translation of the Lord's Prayer from the original Greek.
-
And let me just read it for you.
-
Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.
-
Let your kingdom come.
-
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
-
Give us today our appointed bread.
-
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
-
And lead us not into testing, but deliver us from the evil one.
-
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
-
Amen.
-
Let's go to the next slide.
-
Now it's interesting that when we look at the Lord's Prayer, there's some aspects of it that I want to point out to you today.
-
And hopefully you can see all this on the slide.
-
And then if not, it's not Pastor Ben's fault.
-
It's my fault if you can't see the slides.
-
And if necessary, I can always make them available on my website for you.
-
But interesting, what I want you to notice about this prayer, right off the bat, you'll notice that this is how it actually reads in the original Greek.
-
It's Jesus is teaching his disciples.
-
He says, Thus then you yourselves continue to pray.
-
Now, I was always taught in my Baptist church that the Lord's prayer was a model prayer.
-
However, that is not supported by the Greek.
-
In the Greek, it is listed as a continual command.
-
Now, just in case you say, well, Steve, I think you're making this up.
-
Look at how the Christians in the first century understood this prayer.
-
This is from the teaching of the 12 apostles, which is an ancient uh church manual from the first century.
-
It's also known, goes by the Greek word dedicate, which means teaching.
-
Listen to what they say here.
-
Neither pray as the hypocrites do, but as the Lord what?
-
Commanded.
-
They understood that it is in Greek, it is a present, active imperative.
-
Present meaning that it's active, ongoing, continual.
-
Imperative is what?
-
A command.
-
That's exactly how it's listed in the scriptures.
-
But notice also it actually is verbatim of the Greek as Jesus taught it.
-
But at the end, it actually ends with saying, Thus pray three times a day.
-
This is interesting.
-
If I had another week, I would explain to you that this goes back to Psalm 91, verses 5 and 6, where it actually is talking, speaking, and warning of, or should I say, encouraging the believers of the demons of the morning, the noon, and the night.
-
And many times when I talk to people about this, one of the things that's a reality is we have lost heritage in our modern church.
-
Now let's go to the next slide.
-
Okay.
-
Also, I want to point out here in this particular teaching, he says, you yourselves pray this.
-
In Greek, this is known as the double emphatic.
-
In other words, Jesus is foot stomping that this is the prayer for all of his followers.
-
He puts a double emphasis on this is to be your prayer.
-
Now I was tempted to call it instead of the Lord's Prayer, the believer's prayer.
-
But then I realized something that woke me up to something more significant.
-
Hit the next prompt for us.
-
Over 17 years in advance, hit the next one.
-
Isaiah the prophet predicted 30 proven true prophecies that came to pass about Jesus.
-
But they missed one.
-
Look at the next one.
-
It is in Isaiah, it's Isaiah, one prophecy is in Isaiah chapter 56, verse 7, which is mistranslated in every English translation.
-
It actually speaks about God bringing the Israelites out of captivity back into the land, and he calls, he says, I'm gonna bring them back to the mountain of my holiness, and they can rejoice in the house of my prayer.
-
In Isaiah chapter 56, verse 7, Isaiah the prophet is proclaiming that 700 years in advance, that the God Himself will have a prescribed prayer.
-
Tata, the Lord's Prayer.
-
It is a fulfillment of a 700-year-old prophecy.
-
Now, something interesting about the word prayer in that in that particular prophecy, it actually comes from the word that means to self-examine.
-
We're gonna talk about that in a few minutes.
-
It's gonna make total sense to you in just a few minutes because you're gonna be able to see by the end of today that you can actually use the Lord's Prayer to examine whether you're walking in proper fellowship with God or not.
-
And not just my teaching, this is actually from the prophecy itself.
-
Okay, so we're gonna go to the next slide.
-
There we go.
-
All right, so now I'm gonna walk you through the Lord's Prayer so that today, in the next 10 minutes, you're gonna have a full understanding of the Lord's Prayer.
-
You ready?
-
All right, here we go.
-
So, first one is our Father in the heavens.
-
Now remember that the Jews lived in an agricultural setting.
-
And so what they would do is whenever they would pray, they would actually look up to the sky.
-
Now, the Hebrew and Greek words for heaven, it actually can be translated sky.
-
So the first heaven or the first sky is where the birds fly, the second heaven is where the God hangs the planets and the stars.
-
And the third heaven or the third sky is beyond that.
-
Every time Jesus prayed, there are indications that he looked up towards heaven.
-
And so this statement, our father in the heavens, could be similar to our father in the of all the universes.
-
He's giving credit to everything we can see that he's truly the creator.
-
That's who you're addressing in your prayer.
-
So our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.
-
Now in the King James Versions, it says hallowed, but let me explain to you what it actually says.
-
This is such a significant uh word in the um ancient uh for ancient believers that they actually have a name for it.
-
It's called the Kaddush Hashem.
-
Say that with me.
-
Kaddush Hashem.
-
It's Hebrew for sanctifying the name.
-
You're an impressive Jew if you tell them that.
-
Here's what we when we think of the word sanctified, what do we tend to think of?
-
Holiness, right?
-
But in Greek and Hebrew, it's not limited to moral perfection.
-
It actually, in its basic meaning, it means to be set apart.
-
And I'm gonna show you an example of that.
-
Here's a prayer from Jesus Himself from John chapter 17, verse 9.
-
Listen to what he says in his prayer.
-
He says, For I I for then I sanctify myself.
-
Wait a minute.
-
If Jesus is sinless, why does he need to sanctify himself?
-
What Jesus is actually saying in the verse is that he's setting apart his life for the atonement of the world.
-
He has a purpose, Isaiah prophet, prophetic purpose to set apart his life for the atonement of the world.
-
Go to the next verse.
-
Here's what we got, here's 1 Peter chapter 3, verse 15.
-
It says, Sanctify the Lord in your hearts.
-
It's not saying make God holy in your hearts, it says give him the preeminence.
-
Make him first, set him apart in your hearts.
-
Now I know what you're thinking.
-
What does that mean?
-
I'm glad you asked.
-
1 Thessalonians chapter 4, verse 3.
-
It says, Um, it is God's will that you should be sanctified.
-
Now it didn't come up on this slide, and it's my fault that it didn't come up on the slide.
-
It actually goes on to say that uh that you could be sanctified uh by avoiding, if you look up the verse, by avoiding sexual immorality.
-
So when we make, when we in your prayer, when you recite the Lord's Prayer and you say, Lord, let your name be sanctified, what you're also implying is that you're living a set-apart life because you bear the name of the God who is sanctified in your heart.
-
This is exactly how the ancients understood this.
-
Go to the next verse.
-
Okay, look at this.
-
This is where the Kadush Hashim, the first phrase is found.
-
It's found in Leviticus chapter 22, verses 31 to 32.
-
Listen to this.
-
He says, So you shall keep my commandments and do them.
-
Why?
-
Because I am the Lord.
-
You shall not profane or in Hebrew pollute my holy name.
-
How do we avoid polluting his holy name?
-
It tells you in the beginning, by keeping his commandments.
-
And he says, That I may be sanctified among the people of Israel, I am the God who sanctifies you.
-
Now it's interesting because God is set apart, everybody he comes in covenant with covenant relationship with, he sets them apart with the expectation that we will live a sanctapart, set apart life.
-
So again, we can see that this reason why the ancient Jews considered this to be such a significant theological term because it was connected to behavior.
-
So when you're reciting the Lord's Prayer, it's a lot of meat in that statement.
-
You're actually implying yourself to live a life set apart to Christ.
-
Alright, so let's go to the next verse.
-
So, just in short, put it all together, when we look at the first stanza of the Lord's Prayer, when you say, Lord, let your name be sanctified, that means dedication.
-
Let your kingdom come, that's allegiance.
-
Let your will be done, that's obedience.
-
What have you noticed about this?
-
In the Lord's Prayer, you have yet to ask for anything.
-
This is basically what you are now noticing about the Lord's Prayer, it is actually written in an ancient covenant format.
-
How do we know this?
-
In an ancient Near Eastern covenant format, the king makes an agreement, he agrees to give the subject benefits in return for loyalty.
-
So, in other words, what Jesus is already teaching us in this prayer, don't even ask for anything until I know where you stand.
-
He says, But seek ye first, same chapter, by the way.
-
The Lord's prayer is found in Matthew chapter 6.
Matthew 6 chapter mention
-
We're gonna go all the way down to verse 33.
-
He says, But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added unto you.
-
So it's from the words of our Lord Himself.
-
Here's what that's what that looks like.
-
Pastor Bean could actually go in his prayer closet, walk out with six loaves of bread.
-
But if you ain't living up to the covenant as you should, you may walk in your prayer closet and walk out with just six slices.
-
It's not the same.
-
God is gonna honor the covenant loyalty of his people.
-
Now, interestingly, I was one, I remember uh one morning um I was providing uh leading baptism.
-
I had eight people signed up for baptism.
-
And I remember I remember telling them, hey, I'm so proud of you because this ceremony means that you are now committing publicly to live a clean life of obedience.
-
One guy raised his hand, he said, uh, can you repeat that?
-
I repeated about the phrase of living a clean life of obedience to God, and the guy actually said, Hey, I didn't sign up for that.
-
He literally got out of the line, took off his baptismal robe, and walked out of the sanctuary.
-
Pastor B and Pastor Melody, that's when I realized as a pastor, the onus was on me to make it clear to people what it meant to walk in covenant with God.
-
Interestingly, if you look back, uh and just uh hit the slide again for me.
-
If you look, and then we can say right there.
-
Now, if I was gonna tell you one thing, that this would be the one slide I would say uh you want to hold on to if you need to take a picture of it.
-
What does it mean to walk in submission to God?
-
Matter of fact, when I started, I I no longer use the language, give your heart to Christ.
-
I say you you need to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
-
Jesus actually tells us exactly what it means to walk in submission to him.
-
It's basically dedication.
-
In other words, I I'm gonna live a life set apart to Christ.
-
Allegiance, I'm gonna put him first, make him first in my life.
-
Obedience, I'm gonna obey his commands.
-
That's what it means to walk in submission to Christ.
-
Now it's interesting if you look at this, how the Lord's Prayer is broken out, again, you can see that it's in covenant format.
-
But notice here that the first stanza is related to heavenly, the three heavenly priorities.
-
And the next stanza is related to the three human needs.
-
As a matter of fact, can you make can you name one need that does not fall into one of those three categories?
-
You can't.
-
Every human need falls into one of those three categories.
-
This uh alerts us even more that only a God could create a prayer that's so concise and all encompassing.
-
Now, let me walk you through uh the aspects of uh this prayer.
-
I want you to see some aspects of it.
-
First, it said, you notice each verb, you may not know this because I don't indicate it on the slide.
-
Each verb, let, let, let, give, forgive, and lead, in the Greek, it's written in the aorist imperative.
-
Now I know that you're saying, what in the world does that mean?
-
Glad you asked again.
-
Here's what that means.
-
All of these verbs mean that this is active obedience to a past command.
-
As a matter of fact, the all the uh the scriptures on spiritual warfare that we find uh in the New Testament, they're in the same verb uh format.
-
Basically, I had a guy ask me last week, he says, Hey, I prayed putting on the armor of God every day.
-
I said, Well, uh, that would have been foreign to the uh apostles because they would have looked at you and said, Well, why did you ever take it off?
-
You can remind yourself of the heaven of salvation, got this on breastplate righteousness.
-
You can remind yourself, but you should never be putting on armor because you would never, you should have never taken it off.
-
So that's in the in the verb tenses that don't come out in your English translations, the verb tenses indicate that these are active, this is active obedience to past commands.
-
Here's what that I know somebody's looking on me and they probably the light bulb went off.
-
Are you telling me that give, forgive, and lead are commands?
-
Absolutely.
-
In the covenant relationship with God, if you uh uh dedicate your life, walk in allegiance, and obey the Lord, by promise, God will give, forgive, and lead accordingly.
-
He will provide you provision, forgiveness, and protection.
-
It's an entitlement.
-
We use that word in the military.
-
You can use it right here in the scriptures.
-
It is an entitlement.
-
Let me walk you through your covenant entitlements.
-
It says, give us today our appointed bread.
-
Now I know you read in some translations that it says daily.
-
Let me tell you something.
-
If you look this up, you'll discover that scholars have been debating this word for centuries.
-
This is the only word, only time in all of human history in the Greek language this word is used.
-
It is only used in the Lord's Prayer, and it is a made-up word.
-
It means it comes from the Greek words, it's a combination of two Greek words, epiousia.
-
Epi means to hover, upia is property.
-
Now, when you think of that as a Jew or Old Testament, what do you think about connected to bread?
-
Mannna coming down.
-
So you can actually be theologically correct in saying, give me my manna coming down, bread.
-
So, and I didn't know how to translate it.
-
None of the scholars know how to actually translate it because there's no English language or word in the English language that can properly convey what this means.
-
So, what they come up with is daily, or in this case I put appointed, but you can actually say entitled bread.
-
The bread that your property coming down from above by virtue of your covenant relationship with God.
-
Look at the next one.
-
Forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors.
-
Notice that it's uh you you actually are to practice the forgiveness before you ask for it.
-
It is insulting for God for Him to come down from heaven, down a cross, forgive you of all your sins, and you not practice that with others.
-
Notice how he he uses the metaphor debt.
-
What happens when somebody offends us or sins against us?
-
What do we think about?
-
I owe you or you owe me.
-
We use banking terms.
-
So our Heavenly Father wants us to know that when you forgive someone, you are to cancel their debt.
-
You're not to retaliate.
-
Look at the third one.
-
Lead us not into testing.
-
You can put temptation there.
-
In the English translation, it's the same Greek word.
-
Except that the context tells us how to best use it.
-
But one of the things uh most scholars don't like is because temptation conveys enticement, whereas testing conveys more of the idea of God allowing your character to be purified.
-
Now, why would Jesus tell us, lead us not into testing?
-
Because there are times when he does lead us into testing.
-
To purify or test the genuineness of your covenant loyalty.
-
Job, did he not tell Peter Satan has requested to sift you as wheat?
-
But I rebuked him.
-
No, that's what he said.
-
He said, I pray you be strong.
-
There are times when God will allow our character to be tested, but to build us and strengthen us.
-
But deliver us from the evil one.
-
And I'm almost done here.
-
The word deliver is so strong that there's not one particular word that can actually bring it out in English.
-
Let me tell you what it means in the Greek.
-
It means to be rescued from severe and acute danger.
-
Jesus, in teaching us this prayer, is declaring by that word that you and I, without his protection, are always in a severe and acute danger 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
-
This is why the ancient believers prayed morning, noon, and night three times a day.
-
Now, putting it all together, I want to give you a definition that you can live with to fully understand the all-encompassing power of this prayer.
-
When you recite the Lord's Prayer, you affirm your covenant loyalty to God by declaring your submission and dependence on Him.
-
So now when I talk to Jews about this, messianic Jews, they get it right away.
-
It's a declaration of covenant loyalty.
-
So every time you recite the Lord's Prayer, you are declaring your covenant loyalty to God.
-
And by doing so, you're making a commitment to submit and depend on Him.
-
If I had another sermon opportunity, I would tell you that if you go to the Lord's Prayer, uh go back one slide.
-
Yeah, there we go.
-
If you go to the temptation of Christ, notice what Satan's doing.
-
He uses three temptations to test your dedication, allegiance, and obedience to make you second guess God's provision, forgiveness, and protection.
-
Notice that God speaks to us in threes.
-
It's like God got the Trinity got together, the three, and said, We got to make this simple for our children.
-
They're just sheep.
-
So he's going, the three got together, you know, and they put everything in threes.
-
You know, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Jesus in the grave three days.
-
You got three temptations, you got three ways of submitting, and uh, and then you got three ways in which God provides.
-
Threes.
-
But it then so the significance of knowing this is knowing also how you will be tested.
-
So let me give you some testimonies to go along with the Lord's Prayer.
-
I remember every every chance I got as a chaplain or minister or pastor, I always took the time to talk about the Lord's Prayer.
-
Let me give you an example.
-
Like, give us today our daily bread.
-
Uh, I had a young lady uh come to me one day, she was in church, she was just very discouraged.
-
I talked about the Lord's Prayer, I didn't hear anything about it about it until like a week later, she sent me an email.
-
She said, I came to church, I was depressed because my husband was leaving me.
-
I did everything I could to keep the marriage together, but my husband decided that he wanted to leave anyway.
-
We had divorced papers, we were sitting on the table when I came home from church.
-
She said, I decided that night I was going to start reciting the Lord's Prayer every day.
-
She said, the next day after she started reciting the Lord's Prayer, her husband mysteriously came to her and said, You know, I'm having second thoughts about divorce.
-
He ripped up the papers and said, Let's be reconciled.
-
And they got reconciliation counseling, and they're still together today.
-
One of the first things that people tell me when they start reciting the Lord's Prayer, they say they notice that there's an unexplainable peace that they uh experience.
-
There's no mystery to that because in actually Philippians 4 and 7, where it says it makes a promise and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
-
It actually is the same verbatim language we find in the prophecy of Isaiah 56 and 7.
-
Now you may be saying, Why are the scholars and the Greek and Hebrew scholars not bringing this out?
-
It's because we've lost our heritage.
-
I have a blog that I'll eventually, you know, stay tuned.
-
I have a blog coming out where I will show you that the that when Paul is talking in Philippians, he says, uh uh he says, praise, petition, and thanksgiving.
-
It is actually the Lord's Prayer.
-
It's broken up that way.
-
Look, the first part is praise.
-
Let, let, let.
-
That's praise.
-
In the Jewish mind, that would be praise.
-
Petitions.
-
Give, forgive, protect.
-
And then uh uh the ending of it where it says, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, that's thanksgiving.
-
In the Jewish mind, here's how we would say it in English.
-
If somebody did something you like, you say, You're awesome.
-
You don't use the word thanks all the time.
-
You just say, You're awesome.
-
Man, I'm proud of you.
-
Thank you.
-
You know, so that is an Jewish mind that would be in a way of expressing thanksgiving.
-
All right, so here we go.
-
Here's another testimony.
-
Forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors.
-
You go to the next slide.
-
I had a guy come to me and for deliverance ministry.
-
Uh, and as we were doing deliverance ministry, and I know Pastor Ben and Pastor Melanie has prepped y'all for this, so this is a mature audience, you can accept what I'm about to tell you.

I'm sitting down with the man, I'm doing deliverance, the demon admits in the session that the reason why for 30 years he's been having financial setbacks in his business is because he's been harboring unforgiveness.
-
We resolve the issue in that session.
-
Listen to me, listen to me, men and women of God.
-
We resolve the issue in that session.
-
The next day, the guy got a partnership offer for a multi-million dollar contract.
-
It works.
-
As a matter of fact, I would say, even if I pause right now, what are you in need of today?
-
What daily bread, what appointed bread are you in need of right now?
-
Go ahead and tell God right now, put it in the atmosphere.
-
What do you need God to do for you right now?
-
Who do you need to forgive?
-
Go ahead and call your name out.
-
No, don't do that.
-
Let's look at the last one here.
-
And I love these testimonies.
-
I have like hundreds of these testimonies.
-
Uh, lead us not into testing, but deliver us from the evil one.
-
Let me tell you about two of them.
-
The one that's the most fascinating to me is that an ex-medium said that the Lord woke him up at three o'clock in the morning and said, You need to pray and pray right now.
-
He's he didn't know what to do because he started out, he grew up in the church, but yet he had turned to becoming to sorcery.
-
But he felt God calling him back to the faith.
-
He started reciting the Lord's Prayer.
-
When he started reciting the Lord's Prayer, being two demons slithered out of him.
-
One demon he said he didn't even know was there.
-
It's just a dark blob figure just standing in front of him.
-
The other one was his grandmother, or pretending the demon was uh was impersonating his grandmother, who he thought as a medium was his spirit guide.
-
He said he looked at his supposed grandmother, and she looked him down from head to toe and she said, What a waste of my time.
-
All that that demon had invested in him, he was giving it up now to follow Christ.
-
Here's the power.
-
He just recited, Deliver Me from the evil one and the demon.
-
He auto-delivered.
-
I can't make this stuff up.
-
Let me give you another one.
-
Lady contacted me.
-
She said she was having she was having setback after setback after setback, and she had had enough.
-
So she said she was sitting on her bed, praying to God and rebuking the devil.
-
Her eight-year-old was lying right beside her.
-
She says you started rebuking the devil.
-
Her eight-year-old started seizing up, having epileptic spells.
-
She said, every night after she started, after that prayer time, her eight-year-old son would start having epileptic seizures at the same time every night.
-
She took him to the doctor, took anti-seizure medicine, anti-seizure medicine didn't solve it.
-
So she they gave him more anti-seizure medicine, still didn't solve it.
-
So about a year later, I follow up with her.
-
I said, Hey, how's your son doing?
-
She said, Oh, the seizures have stopped.
-
I said, But when did they stop?
-
She cupped her hand over her mouth.
-
She said, Oh my God, it's the day you told us to start reciting the Lord's Prayer.
-
Is this a coincidence?
-
Or are there new covenant benefits available to us via the Lord's Prayer?
-
Whenever I teach on this, it's not uncommon for people to cry.
-
It's not uncommon for me to see people get mad because they feel like they've been cheated.
-
And it's not uncommon for me to see people smiling like they never smiled before because they realize God has given me a solution to life.
-
He's given me something for the arsenal that I can use.
-
So I'm about to close out.
-
Before I close, go to the next slide.
-
You can find more advanced information on the Lord's Prayer if you go to my website at stevedabs.org.
-
It is free.
-
Uh matter of fact, being here and Melanie have allowed me to uh sell.
-
I have a few books left.
-
And uh if you're interested, you can please see me after the service.
-
I'll gladly autograph one and give you.
-
I'm about to run out of those.
-
But if you're interested, please feel free to uh uh take me up on that.
-
Uh and there's more information in the book, but also my website is free, so you can actually get that information that way as well.
-
So I'm gonna close with one more story.
-
This is a true story my colleague has allowed me to share.
-
There's a combat doctor on the front lines of the war zone, and she's sitting in the it's it's like two, three o'clock, four o'clock in the morning, but it's in the, it's in the it's in the way, it's in the deepest, darkest part of the night.
-
All of a sudden, an ambulance rolls up to the med tent.
-
They bring out a young man who has been uh injured by an IED blast.
-
And as soon as they bring him in, they put him on the bed, they notice, hey, he ain't gonna make it.
-
So as she turned her back to him to get some morphine, she heard a voice from that bed say, I need somebody to pray for me.
-
So she turned around and she looked at the nurse and she said, Is the chaplain still around?
-
So the nurse said, Well, the chaplain is gone, and if we try to go get the chaplain, it's gonna be too late before the chaplain gets here because he's not gonna make it.
-
And as they're sitting there belaboring about this man and getting a chaplain, the guy musters up enough air in his lungs to say, Hey, I need somebody to pray for me.
-
So she's sitting there and she's clueless because she hadn't been to church in years.
-
Can't you remember the last time she uttered a prayer to God?
-
And she's sitting there clueless as to what to do, and one more time, they the soldier pleads.
-
This is a true story.
-
The soldier pleads, I need somebody to pray for me now.
-
He knew he was dying.
-
He's a believer on his dog tags, so she goes and she stands beside his bed.
-
She puts her hand in his hand, and she begins to pray the prayer that she learned in Sunday school as a kid.
-
And as she begins to recite the prayer, the soldier begins to pray along with her, the best he could.
-
Give us this day.
-
Forgive us as we forgive our doubt.
-
Lead us into temptation, but deliver us from every as soon as she finished, she said the amen.
-
She heard the tone of the heart monitor go silent.
-
As she was pulling the sheet over his head, at the same time he was entering the kingdom with the words of God's prayer freshly off his lips.
-
And together we pray and repeat after me, our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified, let your kingdom come, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
-
Give us this day our daily bread.
-
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
-
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
-
Amen.
