  1. I want to invite you to go with me to 2 Timothy.

  2. If you have your Bibles, it will be on the screen.

  3. If not, 2 Timothy chapter 4 and verse 6. Amen.

    2 Timothy 4 chapter mention

  4. 2 Timothy chapter 4 verse 6. Going to read just

    2 Timothy 4:6

  5. a few verses there. It's good to see all of you

  6. today. Welcome our friends and guests. This is

  7. a place where you can belong, believe and become.

  8. Amen. And we're excited for what God is doing

  9. in our midst. But I have a word from the Lord

  10. today. A simple word. One that God has laid on

  11. my heart. It reads as follows. As the Apostle

  12. Paul writes to his son of the faith, Timothy,

  13. he says, For I am already being poured out as

  14. a drink offering, and the time of my departure

  15. is at hand. I have fought the good fight. I have

  16. finished the race. I have kept the faith. Finally,

  17. there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness,

  18. which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give

  19. to me on that day. me only, but also to all who

  20. have loved his appearing. How many of you love

  21. his appearing? Amen. Diligent to come to me quickly.

  22. Notice verse 10. For Demas has forsaken me. Having

  23. loved this present world, he has departed for

  24. Thessalonica. I'm going to stop there. I'm going

  25. to preach for a few moments here on the thought

  26. that Demas dilemma, the Demas dilemma. Let's

  27. pray briefly. Father, we thank you, God, for

  28. your presence. We honor you, Lord. This is your

  29. house. It's a house of prayer. It's a house of

  30. worship. That's what we've come to do. You're

  31. so good, Lord, that you won't let us leave empty

  32. -handed. So I pray, God, that your word will

  33. go forth as the bread of life and will nourish

  34. every heart and soul in this place to be edified

  35. and be strengthened. God, anoint us and anoint

  36. my lips of clay. Put your word in my mouth, God,

  37. that every word I speak would give glory to you.

  38. In Jesus' name we pray. Everyone say amen. Amen.

  39. You can be seated in God's presence. We know

  40. very little about this man Demas. He appears

  41. on the pages of scripture with no record about

  42. where he was from or how he converted to the

  43. faith. But evidently, this man had a lot going

  44. for him, including having the privilege of serving

  45. alongside the Apostle Paul. And just think about

  46. what an incredible position that must be to tag

  47. along with the great Apostle Paul, to learn from

  48. him, his example, and to serve with him. Demas

  49. was more than just an understudy of Paul, more

  50. than an apprentice. He had earned enough respect

  51. that when we first meet him in Philemon, verse

  52. 24, Paul called him my fellow laborer. He is

  53. mentioned in the same breath as men like Mark

  54. and Luke. And what an honor that must have been,

  55. a true testament to his... reputation, and his

  56. potential. So Demas wasn't just a student, but

  57. he also was a colleague of Paul, which says something

  58. about his development, says something about the

  59. man that he was becoming, that Paul would entrust

  60. this man to carry the gospel with him wherever

  61. he went. So although we don't have a lot of record

  62. about who this shadowy figure is we know that

  63. if Paul trusted him to preach alongside him and

  64. called him a fellow laborer he must have earned

  65. his stripes must have done some things right

  66. must have had a lot going for him with that kind

  67. of opportunity you would expect to hear that

  68. Demas went on to do great exploits for the Lord

  69. you would expect that Demas went on to perhaps

  70. establish new works, churches. You would expect

  71. to hear that Demas went on to maybe write a couple

  72. of books or strengthen the body, strengthen the

  73. leaders. You would expect to hear these kinds

  74. of things about him. At the very least, just

  75. preach the gospel wherever his outpost was in

  76. the world. But then we come to Paul's desperate

  77. words here in 2 Timothy 4 and verse 10 where

  78. he says, Demas has forsaken me. Demas has forsaken

  79. me. Now the thing about this writing and the

  80. timing of it is that Paul was, as we read in

  81. the prior verses, reflecting upon his state of

  82. life and where he was. He said, I finished the

  83. race and my drink is, or he said, I'm about to.

  84. Drink from the cup of affliction. You know, my

  85. time of departure is at hand. These are the words

  86. of a man who's beginning to understand that he's

  87. at the end of the road. He's sitting in a Roman

  88. prison cell awaiting execution. And as his ministry

  89. and his life is sunsetting, he's beginning to

  90. look around him at the men who he hopes and believes

  91. are going to take the baton and carry the gospel

  92. forward without him. So for Paul, this is a very

  93. crucial moment in time. He's writing as a spiritual

  94. father. He's writing as an apostle. And he's

  95. looking around at the men that he had trained

  96. and mentored, possibly even won to the Lord.

  97. And he's looking for the next generation, perhaps

  98. of young believers who are going to take the

  99. dream and carry it forward. He's looking at...

  100. his Timothys, and he's looking at his John Marks,

  101. and his Lukes, and he was also looking for this

  102. man named Demas. But as he looked around himself,

  103. even from that prison cell, he looked around

  104. in the spirit, he looked around at what he had

  105. available, and he come to realize that Demas

  106. was nowhere to be found. Just when Paul needed

  107. him the most. At that crucial moment of transition,

  108. that crucial passing of the torch of truth, he's

  109. looking for Demas, the next in line, the next

  110. preacher of the gospel, the next leader of his

  111. family, and he can't find him. And he realizes

  112. that a man with so much potential, so much going

  113. for him, so much in his favor, come up in the

  114. right place, had everything. in his favor was

  115. nowhere to be found. And this must have broken

  116. his heart to realize that whatever investment

  117. he had made in this man, we don't know if he

  118. was a young man, we assume so, was for naught.

  119. But the question today that I want us to think

  120. about, and I believe God has laid this message

  121. on my heart for somebody today here or somebody

  122. who is watching that. We need to look at this

  123. example of Demas because I've got some questions

  124. for him today. I'd like to ask Demas, how does

  125. someone go from having so much going for him,

  126. all this promise, all this momentum, all this

  127. built up anticipation, end up going in the wrong

  128. direction? How does that happen? How do you go

  129. from being on the... I mean, he was on the flyer

  130. with Paul. Aren't those AI flyers getting really

  131. good nowadays or not? I imagine that if AI was

  132. there, man, Demas, he ripped up together a nice

  133. AI flyer with him and Paul. Preaching the next

  134. revival together. I mean, he was right there

  135. with him. Can't get any closer. He served with

  136. him. Labored together with him. So how does someone

  137. go? From that direction. And make a complete

  138. 180 turn in the opposite direction. So that Paul

  139. tells us the answer when he writes in that one

  140. desperate verse. In verse 10 he says the answer

  141. to us because he had loved this present world.

  142. Someone say the world. And this is what I call

  143. the Demas dilemma. The Demas dilemma says this

  144. to us. That it doesn't matter. How long you've

  145. been serving the Lord, how many years you have

  146. in this, or what you know, what you've experienced.

  147. The Demas dilemma tells us that no matter where

  148. you are in your faith and your walk with God,

  149. if we're not careful, no one in this place today,

  150. no one under the sound of my voice today is without

  151. the Demas dilemma. Every one today is susceptible.

  152. Every one of us from the top to the bottom. From

  153. the first to the last. Every one of us is not

  154. immune to the demon's dilemma. And this is what

  155. it is. The demon's dilemma is the friction that

  156. we feel between the call of God and the pull

  157. of the world. Somebody say amen. When your commitment

  158. points one way. but your affections pull you

  159. another. And I wish I could tell you today that

  160. the Demas dilemma goes away after some time.

  161. That if you could just serve God for X number

  162. of years, the Demas dilemma goes away. I wish

  163. I could tell you that after a certain milestone,

  164. that after, you know, you get your Bible college

  165. degree or... You know, after you get married

  166. or start a family or after you become a preacher

  167. or a leader, that the demon's dilemma just wipes

  168. away. But I've come to tell you that no matter

  169. who you are, where you are in your faith today,

  170. we all must guard ourselves to the very end from

  171. the demon's dilemma. Because the devil's never

  172. going to give up. Hello, somebody. Can I talk

  173. to you today like a pastor? Amen. I said the

  174. devil's never going to give up. Because he understands

  175. that the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

  176. He's never going to give up. He's never going

  177. to stop trying to lure and entice you with something

  178. that he hopes will replace the calling of God

  179. and the serving of the Lord in your life. Amen.

  180. It's never going to stop. It's never going to

  181. quit. So when you want to follow God's lead,

  182. you're always going to be faced with the demon's

  183. dilemma. Is somebody here today? Find themselves

  184. right square in the middle of it. You're in a

  185. moment in your life where the demon's dilemma

  186. has never been more real. As from day to day,

  187. you're struggling in your faith, in your spirit,

  188. to stay on the right track with God. And to continue

  189. serving Him with gladness. To press forward in

  190. His will. To stay in prayer. To stay in His Word.

  191. So many distractions. So many allures. So many

  192. things that can come hoping that the enemy hopes

  193. will take us away from our ultimate purpose in

  194. God. And sooner or later, that struggle in your

  195. heart can lead to double -mindedness, can lead

  196. to a division of heart. Sooner or later, it starts

  197. to mess with your mind and the choices that you're

  198. making and the direction of your life and the

  199. decisions that you're making. And sooner or later,

  200. the demon's dilemma. the demon spirit will begin

  201. to work on you and cause you to even doubt that

  202. God ever called you in the first place. Cause

  203. you to second guess his hand, his anointing upon

  204. your life, upon your family, upon your marriage.

  205. Starting to wonder if perhaps, perhaps you've

  206. got it wrong. Or perhaps there's something else

  207. out there that is better than what you've got

  208. in here. Well, let me tell you today that the

  209. devil is a liar. Because there is nothing out

  210. there in the world that can ever possibly compete

  211. or compare to what we have in Jesus. Why don't

  212. you give the Lord a hand praise today? But this

  213. brings me to a very foundational truth that if

  214. I have time, I want to just, I want to break

  215. this down for you. I need to share my heart.

  216. I don't know if this will be an hour running

  217. message by the end of it, but I do know this,

  218. that God has placed a burden in my heart for

  219. every one of you. Because it's not the will of

  220. God that you should miss out on your destiny,

  221. that you should have to give up the things that

  222. God has called you to live. But here's the foundational

  223. truth, is that what you love, what you love will

  224. eventually lead you. Someone say, what I love.

  225. What do you love? Whatever it is that you love

  226. will ultimately lead you. You see, love has its

  227. own laws of physics. It has its own gravitational

  228. pull. Whatever you love, whatever captures your

  229. heart, your affection, will eventually pull your

  230. life in its direction. This applies to every

  231. aspect of our life. Every aspect of our life,

  232. whatever it is that we love, or whoever it is

  233. that we love, will pull us in their direction.

  234. It applies to relationships, to hobbies, careers,

  235. ambitions, amusements. In our walk with God,

  236. whatever it is, whatever we love, will in time

  237. begin to pull us closer and closer to its proximity.

  238. To the point to now we are in its orbit. We are

  239. in its circle. What do we love? What we love,

  240. think about it for a moment, it gets our attention.

  241. What you love gets your attention. You know what

  242. else it gets? It gets your energy. You ever notice

  243. you don't have to motivate somebody to do something

  244. they love? Some of you love golf. Amen. I'm not

  245. here to pick on that. Don't worry. Uh -oh. Don't

  246. touch the clubs, brother. I'd rather you have

  247. golf clubs than be other clubs, all right? If

  248. you're going to be clubbing, you might as well

  249. be on the golf course. Swing in the club, you

  250. know what I'm saying? And that's what you love.

  251. Nobody has to motivate you. If I call one of

  252. you and say, hey, tomorrow, you know what you're

  253. going to do? You're going to clear your calendar.

  254. I had a meeting. I'm going to get myself out

  255. of it. Why? Because you love that. Hey, that's

  256. all right. There's some things that you love.

  257. You'll clear your calendar. It gets your energy

  258. when you love it. Isn't that right? It gets your

  259. time. You know what else it gets sometimes? It

  260. gets your money. Man, I lost you right there,

  261. praise God. You ever notice? How hard it is to

  262. pay for things you don't love? Man, it hurts.

  263. But you notice how easy it is to open up your

  264. wallet, forget about the cost, and pay when you

  265. love it? You don't even look at the price tag.

  266. Huh? The card is going to get approved because

  267. you love it. Right? No convincing involved. You

  268. had a 10 -second conversation with yourself,

  269. and you and yourself came into an agreement.

  270. You deserve it. Jesus said that wherever your

  271. treasure is, there your heart will be also. They're

  272. tied together, inseparable. So it's no wonder

  273. that the things we love, we're willing to invest

  274. our time, amen, our energy, our strength, our

  275. emotion, our money, and we give it no second

  276. thought because we love it. Now I want to ask

  277. you a question. What would happen? If we were

  278. the same way with God. Hallelujah. He'd get your

  279. attention like nothing else. He'd get your energy

  280. like nothing else. He'd get your time like nothing

  281. else. And your money like nothing else. Someone

  282. say everything. I don't want to get ahead of

  283. myself here. Let me deal with this. Because,

  284. you see, your heart is pulling you in a direction

  285. right now. Even as I speak, your hearts are being

  286. pulled in competing directions. And there's a

  287. struggle. There's a friction within yourself.

  288. That which you want to do, you don't do. And

  289. that which you don't want to do, you do. Paul

  290. described it. He said, oh, wretched man that

  291. I am. Who could deliver me from this body? Because

  292. I'm constantly being pulled in directions that

  293. my spirit doesn't really need to go and want

  294. to go. But what begins to happen is... is that

  295. as we begin to feed those desires, what it does,

  296. it just grows the passion and the love for that

  297. thing. And so one of the things we've got to

  298. understand, if you're going to serve God, if

  299. you're going to make it, if you're going to endure

  300. to the end as a believer, hallelujah, which I

  301. believe you want to do, amen, it's not enough

  302. just to get taken out of the world. No, let me

  303. tell you what true conversion is today. True

  304. conversion. It's not taking a person out of the

  305. world, but taking the world out of the person.

  306. It's not pulling somebody out of the world. That's

  307. only part of it. But it's to be delivered from

  308. the love and the passion for the things of the

  309. world. You can change how you talk, how you act,

  310. even how you look, but it won't last until you

  311. change what's in your heart. Until I get my love

  312. affair with the thing or the world or the things

  313. of the world out of my heart, then there's always

  314. going to be this existential threat to what God

  315. is calling me to do. Until I remove that passion,

  316. that longing, that allure from my heart and get

  317. the world out of my system so that all that I

  318. want is God, then I'm constantly going to be

  319. in that state of struggle. So I need God. to

  320. renovate my heart. That's the main issue and

  321. why people struggle to grow. They want more of

  322. God, but their heart keeps pulling them towards

  323. what they secretly love. And today, I believe

  324. the Holy Spirit has placed this message in my

  325. heart today for somebody who you've been struggling

  326. and you've been dealing with that thing that's

  327. trying to pull you away. And when we hear the

  328. world, sometimes we think of, you know, just...

  329. All sorts of things come to mind. But let me

  330. tell you about this thing that we call the world.

  331. The love of the world will pull you away from

  332. Christ. The love of the world. Now, I understand

  333. we live in this world. We don't live on Mars.

  334. We live on Earth. Amen? Elon Musk is trying to

  335. get us to go to Mars. I ain't trying to go there.

  336. I'm happy right here until I go to heaven. Praise

  337. God. Amen? This is the world that we live in.

  338. We live in it. but we can live in it and not

  339. be of it. Hello, somebody. When the Scripture

  340. speaks of the world, it's talking about the culture

  341. around us, the way it thinks, what it values,

  342. how it lives. It's talking about the system of

  343. secular society, which more often than not contradicts

  344. the Word of God. The ideals of the world class

  345. with the Word of God. Because it's under the

  346. influence of the God of this world. God with

  347. a little g. The Bible calls Satan the God of

  348. this age. The God of this world. And the world,

  349. since he's the God, little g, of this world,

  350. that means that what you see in the world is

  351. value systems, is priorities, is a reflection

  352. of his kingdom and not God's. That's why the

  353. church is so important. Amen? Because we're called

  354. out of darkness into his marvelous light. But

  355. Satan works to lie, deceive, and enslave people

  356. in sin. He seeks to twist God's original design

  357. for every part of life. You look out to the world

  358. and its principles, its morals, quote unquote,

  359. its priorities, its values. eventually it starts

  360. to look like the exact opposite of what God intended

  361. it to be. Just take marriage, for example. The

  362. world takes God's original design for marriage

  363. and it twists it to say that you can marry whoever

  364. you want. Sexuality, it says you can love whoever

  365. you want and be and call yourself whatever you

  366. want. It takes pure things. beautiful things

  367. that God designed and created for us to enjoy

  368. as his people and perverts and twists those things

  369. and calls it success. Are you with me? And calls

  370. it the good life and calls it whatever it is

  371. that your heart desires, you can have it. It

  372. does that with money, with pleasure, with success.

  373. And this is why John in his writing warns us,

  374. do not, love the world or the things of the world.

  375. Somebody say amen today. If anyone loves the

  376. world, watch what he said. This is important.

  377. If anyone loves the world, then the love of the

  378. Father is not in him. He said you cannot love

  379. the world and its things and claim to have the

  380. Father's love in you at the same time. You cannot

  381. have it both ways. Are you hearing me? You cannot

  382. say, I love the world, whether through your actions,

  383. through your decisions, through your heart, and

  384. say, I love God too. You cannot serve. This is

  385. what the Lord said. No one can serve two masters,

  386. for he will hate the one and love the other.

  387. The world is competing for your heart, because

  388. whoever has your heart will rule your life. And

  389. Jesus said that your heart cannot serve two masters.

  390. Whatever you love is what's ultimately going

  391. to rule you. Whatever you love is ultimately

  392. going to lead you. Whatever you love is ultimately

  393. going to define what success is to you. What

  394. it looks like. And Satan wants us to love the

  395. things of the world. He wants us to love what

  396. the world loves so that he can rule and destroy

  397. God's purpose in our life. And let me tell you

  398. today. He's not going to show you a picture of

  399. pain and heartache. Hello. He's not going to

  400. show you a picture of destruction. He's not going

  401. to show you a picture of ruin. He's not going

  402. to show you a picture of calamity. He's not going

  403. to show you a picture of disease and sickness.

  404. He's going to show you an enticing picture. He's

  405. going to show you what you are missing out on.

  406. He's going to show you of what you could be doing

  407. if you weren't so involved in church. He's going

  408. to show you how good life can be if you would

  409. just dial it back a little bit on your commitment

  410. to church and to God. Come on. He's going to

  411. show you what it is that you can have if you

  412. would just give a little less to the Lord's work

  413. and a little more to something else. He's going

  414. to show you what kind of life you can live, whether

  415. it's a life of comfort, ease, whether it's a

  416. life of peace. promiscuity, a life of pleasure,

  417. a life of luxury or success or acceptance by

  418. the world's standards. He's going to make you

  419. feel like never before, like a misfit or an oddball

  420. in this world so that you might feel some kind

  421. of pressure to fit in to the buddies on the job

  422. or to your friends at school. He's going to do

  423. whatever he can to get you to feel like you're

  424. missing out on something that's out there. And

  425. then if you just lower your standard a little

  426. bit and just lower your temperature a little

  427. bit in the things of God, then you can have maybe

  428. the best of both worlds and dip your toe into

  429. a little bit of pleasure and dip your toe into

  430. a little bit of this and a little bit of that

  431. until you realize that you're not just dipping

  432. your toe into a little pool of inviting water,

  433. but you're dipping your toe into quicksand. And

  434. the more you dip your toe into that thing, the

  435. more it'll suck your light into it until eventually

  436. it suffocates you. I know that this kind of preaching

  437. is not in vogue in his child anymore, and it's

  438. not going to get many clicks or likes on Facebook,

  439. and I don't care about any of that. But because

  440. I'm your pastor, and because I'm a shepherd,

  441. and because I love you, I got to tell you, get

  442. that love from the world out of your heart and

  443. fall in love with Jesus like you've never loved

  444. him before. Somebody give God some praise right

  445. now. Hallelujah. Come on, somebody love him in

  446. this house. Hallelujah. in this place. Why don't

  447. you worship him for a few moments if you love

  448. him? Thank you, Jesus. I love him with all of

  449. my heart. He's all that I want. You can take

  450. everything, but don't take my Jesus. You can

  451. strip me of it all, but I'm still going to. How

  452. many of you are still going to serve him? I'm

  453. still going to love you, God. I don't serve you,

  454. God, conditionally. I don't serve you based on

  455. what you give me. The Lord gives and the Lord

  456. takes away. But blessed be the name of the Lord.

  457. I came into this world and naked I shall return.

  458. You can't take nothing with you. John breaks

  459. it down for us. Just give me a few more moments

  460. of your time. Amen. If I can get a little more

  461. help on the monitor here. Just a little more

  462. volume. Hallelujah. Amen. I'm still trying to

  463. get over that cold, too. Praise God. Don't worry.

  464. I'm not contagious. Amen. I'm outside that window

  465. now. Amen. But John breaks it down for us. He

  466. said, all that is in the world, he says, the

  467. lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and

  468. the pride of life is not the Father but of this

  469. world. It's not of the Father. And he lists them

  470. for us. He said, this is what entraps people.

  471. It's the lust of the flesh. It's that never -ending

  472. pursuit of pleasure and self -gratification.

  473. If you want it, you can have it kind of mentality.

  474. Everything is at people's fingertips now. The

  475. lust of the flesh. And we're battling that right

  476. now. We're battling that right now. We've never

  477. lived in such an instant gratification society

  478. as we live right now. Can I be real with you

  479. right now? Somebody say, go ahead. I want to

  480. be respectful with what I say today. But there

  481. used to be a time that if you wanted to watch

  482. dirty things, you had to go to dirty places to

  483. find them. I lost you right when I said that.

  484. You had to go to dirty places. They would have

  485. little sections in the liquor store, in the video

  486. store, little curtain. But now, you don't have

  487. to go anywhere for that. You know the only place

  488. you got to go? You're not hearing me right now.

  489. Nobody's saying nothing. Right here. And for

  490. those of you that think I'm just talking about

  491. what men struggle with, I'm talking about the

  492. ladies too. Because you can spend binging on

  493. romantic comedies and things and get tired in

  494. minutes of prayer. But the devil knows if I can

  495. just hook up with this, I can rob them and cheat

  496. them out of the blessings of God. The lust of

  497. the flesh is everywhere now. You had a problem

  498. with spending and money. My God, Amazon just

  499. made it worse. I wonder what some of your save

  500. for later carts look like. Probably got a million

  501. dollars worth of items and stuff. Saving it for

  502. later. Huh? I know I'm touching on some toes

  503. now. But we got a generation. Some of you, look,

  504. I get it. I get it. Hallelujah. We got a generation

  505. that needs to understand biblical economics.

  506. That if my buying this, you know, thing that

  507. was made somewhere and it gets to my house, you

  508. know, in three days, if that's my offering money,

  509. then I can't buy it. If that's cutting into my

  510. tithe, brother, it belongs to the Lord. I'm going

  511. to have to save for later. But there's one thing

  512. to save for later. It's the blessings of God

  513. right now. It's the goodness the Lord has made.

  514. Rejoice and be glad in it. The lust of the eyes.

  515. Oh, whatever it can possess. And the pride of

  516. life. Oh, the pride of life. Well, we don't like

  517. talking about that one, but that's the one that

  518. catches many by surprise. Why? Because they're

  519. in love with their own image. They're in love

  520. with who you think they are. Not even who they

  521. actually are. They're in love with themselves.

  522. And their status and their recognition. You know,

  523. Pastor, he didn't even acknowledge me today.

  524. I put on my special shoes. I parted my hair the

  525. other direction and he didn't even acknowledge

  526. me. I thought he was going to sit me right in

  527. the front with him. And we carry ourselves with

  528. this sort of aura. We want preeminence. No, no,

  529. no. Let's humble ourselves. And you say, you

  530. know, I didn't come here to be recognized. Nothing

  531. wrong with that. We all need a pat on the back

  532. sometimes. I'm not saying that that doesn't have

  533. its place. But the pride of life says, if I don't

  534. get what I want, hmm, my God. If I don't get

  535. control or this or that, then, you know, that

  536. begins to take me away from the things of God.

  537. This is how the world appeared to Demas. Thessalonica,

  538. the Bible says, he writes, Paul. It makes me

  539. wonder what kind of place Thessalonica was. It

  540. wasn't just a city. It was a hub of luxury, comfort,

  541. wealth, safety. In other words, it represents

  542. everything that this world is trying to offer

  543. us. Oh my God. And when you begin to love these

  544. things, that affection will systematically erode.

  545. Your devotion to Christ. It'll make serving him

  546. harder. It'll make giving a treasury. It'll make

  547. worship more difficult. Because you've got that

  548. secret love in your heart. I don't know if Paul

  549. saw it. Just give me a few more moments. I know

  550. I keep saying that, but just a little bit more.

  551. I know Paul, maybe he saw it in Demas' eyes.

  552. Maybe he saw it the way that I have seen some

  553. of you in my prayer time. Oh, I feel this in

  554. my heart today. The way I have seen some of you

  555. in my personal prayers. I have been calling out

  556. to the Lord for some of you. Because perhaps

  557. it's similar to the way that Paul looked at Demas

  558. when he started noticing. It didn't just happen

  559. overnight. It wasn't just from one day to the

  560. next. Demon just said, forget this. I'm out of

  561. here. I think it was a gradual fade. I think

  562. it was a process where he noticed things about

  563. demons. Demon said, you don't worship him the

  564. way that you used to. You don't hit the altar

  565. the way that you used to, demon. You're coming

  566. up with more excuses now, demon. I'm noticing

  567. that you're changing, and it's not for the good,

  568. demon. You're allowing things to happen in your

  569. life. Now you don't have time for God anymore.

  570. You don't have time to give a Bible study. You

  571. don't have time to log in for Bible study. You

  572. don't have time to do this or that. Oh, hello.

  573. But you've got time for everything else. But

  574. the little things, the little things, you just

  575. let that go. Nobody's going to miss me if I'm

  576. not there. Church won't miss my. They won't miss

  577. my praise. They won't miss my hand clap. They

  578. won't miss me on the pew. The church won't miss

  579. my dollar that I don't give. God will provide

  580. something else. They won't miss me on that ministry.

  581. God will raise up something. But let me tell

  582. you, there's no replacement for Demas. Otherwise,

  583. why would Paul, if you can come and get ready

  584. to play, why would Paul be so intent on saying,

  585. he has forsaken me. He's forsaken me. Having

  586. loved this present. He's forsaken me. The only

  587. way to stop loving the world is not to stop loving

  588. the world. The only way to stop loving the world

  589. is to love God more. Are you hearing me today?

  590. Is to love God more. It's falling more in love

  591. with him than you are with whatever that or whoever

  592. that is. It's falling in love with him more.

  593. You see, many are mistaken. They're trying. to

  594. beat the world out of them, or they're trying

  595. to, they're trying to erase, delete that desire.

  596. I'm here to tell you, as long as you got red

  597. blood flowing through your veins, that desire,

  598. that lure is probably always going to be there.

  599. I told you, it doesn't matter how long you've

  600. been serving, doesn't matter how long you've

  601. been, it's always going to be there. It's always

  602. going to be present, your flesh. The answer is

  603. not saying, well, if I could just stop loving

  604. that. If I just wouldn't be into that, you're

  605. fighting a losing battle. Chances are, if it's

  606. something that appeals to you now, it's going

  607. to appeal to you five years from now, for the

  608. most part. And what believers commonly misunderstand

  609. is that they think they can stop sinning by simply

  610. convincing themselves to hate that particular

  611. sin. They say, if I could just hate, if I could

  612. just hate pornography. I'll stop watching it.

  613. If it was that simple, anybody can do it. They

  614. say, if I could just hate it, if I could just

  615. hate lying or cheating, I would stop doing it.

  616. If I can hate material things, I'd stop focusing

  617. on them. My friend, that's only part of it. You

  618. won't stop simply by trying to stop. Hear me

  619. today. You won't stop that love. That enticement

  620. is not going to stop simply because you want

  621. it to stop or because you're trying to stop.

  622. The only way is to replace that desire with something

  623. greater. It's saying, my flesh wants to do this.

  624. I love God more than I love whatever satisfaction

  625. could come out of this thing. The choice. is

  626. what do we love more? And if we would feed that

  627. love for God, if we feed that desire in our flesh,

  628. that thing in the world, that will grow. Sometimes

  629. we wonder how the thing got so big. It didn't

  630. get so big. How did it become a full -blown addiction?

  631. How did it become? Because you fed it. You ever

  632. notice that when you feed something, it grows?

  633. Don't look at me like that, brother. When you

  634. feed something, It grows. I can't figure, I can't

  635. get rid of this problem. I can't get rid of this

  636. temptation. I can't get rid, I keep going. You

  637. keep feeding it. Well, why can't I pray more?

  638. Or why can't I fast? Or why, you know, why am

  639. I not more involved? And why am I not, because

  640. you're not feeding. But if you would just begin

  641. to feed your desire for God. Hallelujah. You

  642. begin to feed it a little by little. Feed your

  643. prayer life. Feed the word. Feed it. He said,

  644. my word. Feed it. Man shall not live by bread

  645. alone, but by every word that proceeds out of

  646. the mouth of God. Feed yourself. Feed your spirit.

  647. And you will starve the flesh. Stand with me

  648. today. Because remember, what you love, what

  649. you love will eventually. Help us right now,

  650. God. Somebody needs God's help right now. I feel

  651. it in the Holy Ghost. Somebody needs God's help

  652. right now. You've got things that you've been

  653. secretly desiring. Things that you've been wavering

  654. over. And you need to hear the voice of this

  655. preacher today because God sent me here today

  656. to wake you up. God sent me here today to tell

  657. you that my friend, my brother, my sister, whatever

  658. it is the devil's offering you, it's not worth

  659. it. It's not worth it. I don't care how many

  660. times that girl on the job or in the workplace

  661. winks at you, smiles at you. Brother, it ain't

  662. worth it. I don't care if she's been sliding

  663. into your DMs and saying, it ain't worth it.

  664. If you can't, I'm going to help somebody right

  665. now. Somebody say, go ahead. If you can't control

  666. it, cut it off. Pastor, I don't know. I put my

  667. Instagram on mute and I decide I'm not going

  668. to. But I just keep going back, and I keep looking

  669. at the same things. And it just, you know, my

  670. God, the algorithm just knows me at this point.

  671. You know, it just knows what I want to see. The

  672. devil has got to rebuke that algorithm. Things

  673. just keep coming up, and I just, you know, and

  674. I can't control it. I thought I had a grip on

  675. it. I had a good week, but then I fell off the

  676. wagon the week next. So you know what? So if,

  677. brother, sister, so if you can't control it,

  678. cut it off. Well, who said you needed Instagram

  679. to live a life? I know a lot of people that don't

  680. have Instagram that are happy. They may not have

  681. that same struggle. It hasn't affected me that

  682. way. But you've got to get honest with the Holy

  683. Ghost today. Stop playing games with the Word

  684. of God. Say, I can't control it, so I've got

  685. to cut it off. I can't control myself when I'm

  686. around that person. I can't control my flesh

  687. when I'm around that person. I've tried. I've

  688. tried to reduce it. I've tried to love them for

  689. my distance. I've tried to do all this stuff,

  690. but I still can't control it so respectfully.

  691. You might have to, ah, my God. Every time I go

  692. there, it brings out the worst in me. Then cut

  693. it off. For some of you, it could be, hear me,

  694. brother, it could be anything, anything. And

  695. it's the Holy Ghost's job to reveal that to you

  696. right now in prayer what that is. For some of

  697. you, it's sports. That's your God. You need to

  698. cut it off. Some other people, they can control

  699. it. Yeah, you know, I don't mind a game here

  700. or there. But for you, it's your religion. Cut

  701. it off. Is this all right, brothers? I feel it.

  702. Oh, hallelujah. Whatever is interfering with

  703. your obedience to God. Would you close your eyes

  704. right there? I feel the Holy Ghost working. God's

  705. revealing. He's already, through the course of

  706. this message, has revealed to you what that thing

  707. is in your life. But right now, we're going to

  708. pray anyhow because I feel the Holy Ghost just

  709. beginning to navigate and probe somebody's heart

  710. today. Probe your heart. Probe your heart. For

  711. some, it's that spirit of... competition it's

  712. that jealousy that that that envy in your spirit

  713. that's you you dress it up you uh you you know

  714. you doctor it up it doesn't look like what it

  715. is but deep in your heart you're dealing with

  716. jealousy and you start sister you're starting

  717. to hate that other sister because you're jealous

  718. of what she has or of what he has and so uh and

  719. that's the way the world works you know the world

  720. says step on each other and and the dog eat dog

  721. and all that kind of stuff but that's not What

  722. a child of God does. That's not what the kingdom

  723. teaches us. So you might have to get that out

  724. of your heart. I can't have this in my heart

  725. anymore. I can't. God's revealing what that thing

  726. is. He's revealing what that area of disobedience

  727. is. He's revealing it to you right now with the

  728. Holy Ghost. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah,

  729. hallelujah. Come on.
