  1. There's a maker for us.

  2. It is well.

  3. Jesus is all and pravies all of victory is one.

  4. He is raised from the dead and I will rise with me cause my name.

  5. No more song.

  6. No more things.

  7. I will rise.

  8. Only those things before my God.

  9. Follow my days and rise.

  10. There's a day that's for me.

  11. And the fate shall be Jesus.

  12. No more so no more things.

  13. On he goes wings before my God follow my own.

  14. And so I'm going to preach on a few selected passages for the remainder of this year.

  15. And uh so let's read our text this morning and uh and I'll explain.

  16. It says in Romans 5, verse 12, Wherefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world, and death by sin.

    Romans 5:12

  17. And so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

  18. For until the law, sin was in the world, but sin was not imputed where there is no law.

  19. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

  20. But not as the offense, so also is the free gift.

  21. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

  22. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift.

  23. For the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offenses unto justification.

  24. For if by one man's offense death reigned by one, much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

  25. Therefore, as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

  26. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

  27. Moreover, the law entered that the offense might abound, but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.

  28. That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

  29. Let's pray.

  30. Dear Father, we come to your throne today by your invitation given to all those that are in Christ.

  31. And our simple request, Lord, is that you would help us to understand your word.

  32. We know that you have revealed it.

  33. You've not hidden it.

  34. We know that you have made it plain so that we can understand it.

  35. We know, Lord, that your Holy Spirit has the ministry of illumination and shining the light on your word to help us to comprehend it.

  36. And Father, we just come to you not with confidence in our intellect, but with confidence in your promise.

  37. And so, Lord, I just pray and ask that you would make it vividly clear to us today that every single one of us would understand this issue of sin and salvation, and how that we all are implicated by this sin.

  38. God help me to explain your word in a way that is worthy of you.

  39. I pray in Jesus' name.

  40. Amen.

  41. Since we've spent most of this year focused on the spiritual growth of a Christian in our study of 2 Peter, I thought it would be good for us to turn our attention to the foundation of salvation.

  42. Everything we covered in 2 Peter was built on the foundation of Christ.

  43. 1 Corinthians 3 makes that clear when it says, Other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

  44. Take heed how every man builds on this.

  45. And so 2 Peter is talking to believers, and we were talking about how we're supposed to add to our faith, how we're to grow in our faith.

  46. And so now I just want us to go back and look at the foundation, because without salvation, growth is a moot point.

  47. Salvation is where spiritual life begins.

  48. And without life, there is no growth.

  49. And so it doesn't matter how well you know the lessons in 2 Peter.

  50. If you don't know Jesus, they benefit you nothing at all because you cannot grow if you are dead in your trespasses and sins.

  51. The Bible equates being unsaved with being dead, right?

  52. It says in Ephesians 2 that we were dead in our trespasses and sins.

  53. The Bible equates being unsaved with being blind, saying that we can't see, we don't have the eyesight to see things clearly.

  54. The Bible equates being unsaved with being lost, right?

  55. And being lost means you just don't know where you are, you don't know how to get out of there, you don't know where to go, you don't know what direction.

  56. I point all of that out to say that if you are lost, if you are unsaved, you might have a difficult time seeing your need for salvation.

  57. It has often been said that before we can convince somebody to believe in Jesus as their Savior, we have to first convince them that they are sinners in need of a Savior.

  58. And I sympathize with you because we have all been in that state.

  59. By God's grace, 31 years ago, this past week, God opened my eyes to see that I was a sinner in need of a savior.

  60. But I've got to be honest with you, before I got saved, I didn't really see it.

  61. I thought I was doing all right.

  62. I was better than some folks that I knew, right?

  63. And uh and I thought I was a pretty good person on the things that mattered.

  64. And so if you're here today and you've never been saved, you might have some obstacles in trying to see why you need to be saved.

  65. So I want to begin this study we're gonna do over the next couple of months, digging into salvation by asking and answering the question: who needs to be saved?

  66. Who needs to be saved?

  67. Because there are a lot of people in this world who don't think they need to be saved.

  68. I'll tell you my proposition up front.

  69. I'll just be straightforward with you.

  70. Who needs to be saved?

  71. Everybody.

  72. Or as we'd say, where I'm from, all y'all.

  73. Everybody.

  74. That's my proposition is everybody needs to be saved.

  75. Who needs to be saved?

  76. Everybody needs to be saved.

  77. Everybody needs to be saved because everybody is a sinner.

  78. Let me just uh let me just share with you a couple of verses where the Bible says that very clearly.

  79. Romans 5.12, which we just read.

  80. For all have sinned, it says.

  81. Romans 3.23, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

  82. Galatians uh chapter 3, verse 22 says that all are guilty because all are under sin.

  83. And so the Bible makes it very clear.

  84. It declares that everybody has sin.

  85. Everybody is a sinner.

  86. The Bible just draws that baseline.

  87. We're all on equal ground here.

  88. We all have sinned.

  89. And so let's begin with the problem that everyone has.

  90. I'm gonna give you two parts this morning: the problem that everybody has and the solution that everybody needs.

  91. What is the problem that everybody has?

  92. Well, the problem everyone has is sin.

  93. But how did we get that problem?

  94. How did we get that problem?

  95. Well, Romans 5.12 says that sin entered the world.

  96. Sin entered the world.

  97. There's an entry point for sin.

  98. God created the world without sin.

  99. It was a perfect place.

  100. Sometimes people say, well, why would God create a world like this?

  101. He didn't.

  102. He created it perfectly.

  103. We made it like this.

  104. We're the ones who did this.

  105. Where did this sin come from then?

  106. Right?

  107. Let's ask some of the big questions.

  108. Let's ask some of the hard questions.

  109. I mentioned recently, it's not wrong to ask God questions.

  110. It's only wrong if you refuse to accept his answers.

  111. And so we can ask these questions.

  112. Why do I have a sin problem?

  113. Where did this sin come from?

  114. If sin entered the world, where did it come from?

  115. Well, the Bible tells us that it came from a rogue angel named Lucifer, who was once the worship leader in heaven.

  116. But the Bible tells us in a few places that he set his heart on being in the place of God.

  117. Isaiah 14 tells us that he said, I will ascend into heaven.

  118. He said, I will exalt my throne.

  119. I will set on the mount most high.

  120. Ezekiel 28 tells us about his fall when it says that he set his heart and it is lifted up, and he said, I am a God, and I sit in the seat of God.

  121. And Ezekiel says, You've sinned, I'll cast you down to the earth.

  122. Revelation 12 tells us that he led a coup against God in heaven and led away part of the angels.

  123. And it says that there was war in heaven and that he lost and he was cast down to earth.

  124. That's where sin came from.

  125. It came from this rogue angel named Lucifer, who we know as the devil, as Satan, as that old serpent.

  126. He's described by all those terms.

  127. Well, he wasn't able to overthrow God, right?

  128. What he got in his heart was, I want to sit in that seat.

  129. I want to have the powers that he has.

  130. I want to have the control that he has.

  131. And he attempted to overthrow God so foolishly.

  132. He attempted to overthrow God.

  133. He couldn't overthrow God.

  134. So what does he do?

  135. He turns his attacks on God's beloved creation.

  136. God created human beings in his image and in his likeness with whom he could have fellowship with.

  137. And Satan, knowing that he could not overthrow God, turned his attention to attack God's most prized relationship.

  138. And so sin entered the world in the Garden of Eden in Genesis chapter 3, when the first couple, Adam and Eve, were tempted by the devil, and they were convinced to rebel against God.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  139. So let's break that down real quickly.

  140. The big deal is that they violated God's clear command.

  141. The big deal is that they said, you know what?

  142. God's not going to be my authority.

  143. I'll be my authority.

  144. And I don't know if you can see that, but that's the same thing that came into the heart of Lucifer.

  145. It was, I want to be in the position he's in.

  146. And you might be sitting there thinking, well, I don't want to be God.

  147. I don't want to be in control of everything.

  148. No, but you want to be in control of you.

  149. And that's God's position.

  150. God has the right to rule my life.

  151. God has the right to rule your life.

  152. If he doesn't, he's not God.

  153. If he is God, he has that right.

  154. And anytime I try to push that off and take it into my own hands, I am guilty of the same sin that Lucifer committed and the same sin that Adam and Eve committed.

  155. It is an outright rebellion against God.

  156. Now let me clarify this: God did not create sin.

  157. Sometimes people say, well, why would God create sin?

  158. Why would God create evil?

  159. Why would God create violence?

  160. God did not create sin.

  161. But God did create Adam with the capacity to sin.

  162. It was the only way to give him a free will.

  163. I think we we believe that it's important to have a free will, right?

  164. God, I uh we don't think that God should have created robots, right?

  165. That have no choice but to serve God.

  166. If we're going to be created in his image and likeness, we've got to be able to have a choice.

  167. We've got to exercise some free will.

  168. Well, the only way to exercise free will is to have options.

  169. And the options to obedience is disobedience, and the options to righteousness is sinfulness.

  170. And so God creates Adam with the capacity to sin.

  171. But it was Adam who chose to sin.

  172. Just, for instance, look at the first murder in the Bible, Cain and Abel.

  173. Did God create murder?

  174. No.

  175. Did Cain have the capacity to murder?

  176. Yes.

  177. By the way, you have the capacity to murder.

  178. You have the capacity.

  179. Just because you have the capacity to do it doesn't mean you have to do it.

  180. And so God created Adam with the capacity to sin.

  181. He didn't create the sin.

  182. He created with the capacity, and Adam used that to rebel against God.

  183. Adam was able to choose to receive or reject the command of God, and his choice to reject was the genesis of sin.

  184. It's the beginning of sin.

  185. It's where sin enters the world.

  186. But that was Adam's sin.

  187. You might be saying, okay, you're telling me that I'm a sinner, that I need to be saved, because sin entered the world back in Genesis 3, and Adam sinned.

  188. But what does Adam's sin have to do with me?

  189. Now, listen, I'm going to teach you something theological here in this text.

  190. What we find in Romans chapter 5 is the juxtaposition of Adam and Jesus.

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  191. Did you notice that when we read through there?

  192. By one man's sin, by one man's salvation, one man's disobedience, one man's obedience.

  193. And so we find that back and forth, by one, by one, by one.

  194. How many times did you hear that phrase?

  195. By one.

  196. What this text teaches is what theologians call the federal headship.

  197. That is, that Adam was the federal head of the human race.

  198. A federal head is the legal representative.

  199. So why is Adam the federal head of the human race?

  200. Because he's the first.

  201. It's him and Eve.

  202. And so he represents all of humanity.

  203. If you want to try to get this concept, think about Abraham and Israel.

  204. Israel the nation.

  205. Does God have the nation of Israel envisioned before he calls Abraham?

  206. Well, yeah, of course he does.

  207. Because when he calls Abraham, he tells Abraham, This is what I'm going to do.

  208. I'm going to make a nation out of you.

  209. I'm going to multiply you as the sand on the seashore, as the stars in the sky.

  210. He has this plan for it to become a nation.

  211. But do the decisions of Abraham affect the outcome of that nation?

  212. Absolutely.

  213. It was Abraham's faith in God that set them up to be God's chosen people.

  214. If Abraham had rejected God's call, the outcome would not have been the Israel that we know.

  215. And so, in a similar way, not the exact same way, but in a similar way, he's a federal head for the nation of Israel.

  216. Think about the things that he did that Israel gets credit for later.

  217. Because you're Abraham's descendants, because you're Abraham's seed, because he had faith in me.

  218. And so Adam is the federal head of the human race.

  219. And that is why when he sinned, that sin came upon all of us, because he is the progenitor of the human race.

  220. You see, Romans 5.

  221. Is teaching that sin of one actually caused all of us to become guilty.

  222. And since Adam and Eve fell into sin before they had children, then all of their children, all of their offspring, are born with this inherited sin nature that they received from their parents.

  223. Can I show you this if you hold your place in Romans 5?

  224. Would you go back and look at Genesis 5?

  225. Now, as you find your way to Genesis 5, do you remember that in Genesis chapter 1, verse 26 and 27, it said that God created Adam and Eve.

    Genesis 1:26

  226. He created them male and female.

  227. God said, Let us create man in our image after our likeness.

  228. And so human beings are image-bearers of God.

  229. God created them in his image and likeness, unlike any of the other creation, not the animals, not nature, human beings.

  230. They're created in God's image.

  231. Sin happens in Genesis chapter 3.

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  232. Adam and Eve sin.

  233. Listen to the generations of Adam.

  234. And so in Genesis, I pointed this out on Wednesday night, there's a catalog of ten generations in the book of Genesis.

  235. It's telling us the origins of things.

  236. The generations of Adam in chapter 5.

  237. This is the book of the generations of Adam in the day that God created man.

  238. In the likeness of God made he him.

  239. Male and female created he them.

  240. Blessed them called their name Adam in the day when they were created.

  241. And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years and begat a son.

  242. Now listen to this next phrase, in his own image, after his, in his own likeness, after his image.

  243. And he called his name Seth.

  244. You see, Adam was created in the full image of God.

  245. When he is created in Genesis 2, 7, God takes the dust of the ground, he forms the body, he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he becomes a living soul.

  246. And so he's created tripart, three in one: body, soul, and spirit.

  247. God said, if you eat of the fruit, you will surely die.

  248. The day you eat it, you will die.

  249. Adam and Eve eat the fruit.

  250. They don't die physically.

  251. They are still alive physically.

  252. They put the leaves together, they make their apron.

  253. Their soul doesn't die.

  254. That's where they communicate with each other.

  255. That's their intellect, that's their consciousness.

  256. That's still alive.

  257. What part of Adam died on that day?

  258. It is his spirit, the part that related him to God, because when God comes to fellowship with him in the garden, he hides himself because of his sin.

  259. And in Genesis 3, when sin enters into the world through Adam, it distorts his image.

  260. And because he has his image distorted by sin, now every one of his offspring bears his defunct image, spiritually dead.

  261. Body, yes.

  262. Soul, yes, spirit, dead.

  263. And so he passes that on like a genetic disease to all of the human race.

  264. So that you and I were born spiritually stillborn.

  265. You and I were given this genetic disease because we are descendants of our federal head, Adam.

  266. But I would say this: not only are we sinners by nature, that's not fair.

  267. I mean, I'm born with it.

  268. How can God hold me accountable for that?

  269. Well, yeah, you're born with a sin nature, but then you and I choose to sin.

  270. We make the choice.

  271. We're the ones who, when we get old enough to exercise our free will, we start choosing to disobey God and to disregard his commands.

  272. And so that means that we've all done what Adam did as described in this chapter.

  273. How does it describe what Adam did?

  274. Well, it calls it sin.

  275. Harmatia.

  276. It means to miss the mark.

  277. It means to stray from the path.

  278. Well, every one of us have missed the mark, right?

  279. Romans 3.23, all of sin and come short of the glory of God.

  280. We didn't hit the mark.

  281. We've strayed from the path.

  282. It calls what Adam did disobedience.

  283. Disobedience is insubordination to the authority of God.

  284. Guilty, we've all done that.

  285. Have you perfectly and completely obeyed God all of your life?

  286. You're going to have to answer honestly and say, no, I haven't.

  287. Then you're guilty of disobedience.

  288. I'm guilty of disobedience, just like Adam was guilty of disobedience.

  289. What else does it describe Adam's action as?

  290. As an offense.

  291. An offense, don't think football, think offended.

  292. Right?

  293. Have you ever been offended?

  294. Were you offended because somebody did something to the state?

  295. Or were you offended because somebody did something to you?

  296. It's personal.

  297. That's the idea.

  298. And so sin is a personal offense to God.

  299. It is not just some arbitrary law that has been broken.

  300. It's not just the state code or the legislature that has made a law and it doesn't hurt anybody, so what's the big deal?

  301. No, it's a personal transgression against God.

  302. When we sin, we are sinning against God.

  303. David in Psalm 51 said, against thee, and thee only have I sinned.

  304. And so we're guilty of the same thing Adam is: sin, disobedience, offense.

  305. And likewise we get the same consequences.

  306. What are the consequences that Adam's sin brought?

  307. Judgment.

  308. That's a punitive sentence of guilt.

  309. Condemnation, it says there in Romans 5.

  310. That's a damnatory punishment.

  311. And death, it says.

  312. He brought death upon all of us.

  313. By the way, that's not just physical death.

  314. Physical death really foreshadows for us eternal death and separation from God.

  315. But thankfully, this text doesn't just identify the problem that everyone has, it also presents the solution that everyone needs.

  316. The solution that everyone needs is Jesus Christ.

  317. He is the solution.

  318. As the problem originated from one man, namely Adam, so too the solution is provided by one man, namely Jesus Christ.

  319. Would you look at Romans 5, verses 17 through 19 with me once again, just to refresh this in our minds?

    Romans 5:17–19

  320. For by one man's offense, death reigned by one, much more they that receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ.

  321. Therefore, as by the offense of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

  322. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

  323. Just as Adam was the federal head, so too is Jesus a federal head.

  324. He is the same type as it says in Romans 5.14.

  325. He is the figure of him that was to come.

  326. And so what Romans 5 is telling us is that there's some sort of correlation, some sort of correspondence between Adam and Jesus.

  327. What is that correlation?

  328. What is that correspondence?

  329. It is that they are each a federal head.

  330. That is, they each stand as a legal representative of their descendants.

  331. Adam is the progenitor of all those who are born physically, right?

  332. So why do I have the sin of Adam?

  333. It's because I am physically his descendant.

  334. Well, do you remember what Jesus said to Nicodemus in John chapter 3?

    John 3 chapter mention

  335. You must be born again.

  336. Nicodemus, how do I get born again?

  337. He's thinking physical.

  338. I can't be born again physically.

  339. Jesus says, that which is flesh is flesh, that which is spirit is spirit, you must be born again spiritually.

  340. And so think about it.

  341. Adam is my federal head physically.

  342. I inherited his sin nature.

  343. But Jesus is my federal head spiritually.

  344. When I get born again into the family of God, I inherit his divine nature.

  345. Remember, that's what 2 Peter taught us in chapter 1, that we have received his divine nature.

  346. And so therefore, Jesus becomes the federal head of everyone who has believed in Jesus.

  347. Now watch this.

  348. Born again.

  349. Born again.

  350. I remember seeing a bumper sticker one time that said, uh, I was born all right the first time.

  351. Kind of funny, but wrong.

  352. Wrong.

  353. Why do I need to be born again?

  354. Because you weren't born right the first time.

  355. You were born spiritually dead.

  356. 2 Corinthians 5, 17 says, Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.

  357. A new creature.

  358. I mean, do we grow a third eye?

  359. Do we have horns?

  360. Like, what is this new?

  361. Some translations say, new creation.

  362. Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature.

  363. All things are passed away.

  364. Behold, all things are become new.

  365. Well, what is happening is that we are being restored to the full image of God our Father when we get born again.

  366. That spiritually dead part of us is regenerated when the Holy Spirit of God comes to live in us.

  367. And we are restored to the full image of God that was lost in Adam.

  368. And what was lost in Adam has been regained in Christ.

  369. The Apostle Paul connects these dots for us in 1 Corinthians chapter 15.

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  370. Let me read them to you.

  371. Verses 45 through 49.

  372. Listen, so it is written: the first man, Adam, was made a living soul.

  373. The last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

  374. Oh, wait a minute.

  375. There's a first Adam and there's a last Adam?

  376. Yes.

  377. It is the federal heads.

  378. It is Adam and it is Jesus.

  379. It is the first Adam and the second Adam.

  380. But second Adam doesn't quite cover it because that means there could be a third Adam.

  381. And so instead it says, last Adam.

  382. This is the last one we'll ever need if we are in his line.

  383. And so the first man, Adam, was made a living soul.

  384. The last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

  385. That's the old King James way of saying life-giving, living spirit.

  386. We needed a spiritual life.

  387. The last Adam, Christ, provides that.

  388. Howbeit, that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural, and afterward that which is spiritual.

  389. The first man, the first Adam, is of the earth earthy.

  390. The second man is the Lord from heaven.

  391. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy.

  392. And as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

  393. And as we have born the image of the earthy, we have born the image of Adam, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

  394. And so what it is saying is, just as you bore the image and the nature of Adam by your physical birth, by your spiritual birth, you will bear the image and nature of Christ.

  395. And so Paul connects the dots for us between Adam and Jesus.

  396. I would say to you that not only is Christ the counterpart to Adam, but everything he did counteracts what Adam did.

  397. Think about it.

  398. In Adam, we have sin.

  399. In Christ, we have salvation.

  400. In Adam, we give offense to God.

  401. In Christ, we get a gift from God.

  402. In Adam, disobedience.

  403. In Christ, obedience.

  404. In Adam, judgment.

  405. In Christ, righteousness.

  406. In Adam, condemnation.

  407. In Christ, justification.

  408. In Adam, sin abounds.

  409. In Christ.

  410. Grace much more abounds.

  411. Since it's pastor appreciation and lunch is right across the way, I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you about that a little bit.

  412. Where sin abounds, grace much more abounds.

  413. Bible teachers for a long time have seen a beautiful illustration of this in the River Jordan.

  414. The river Jordan is the main tributary or the main artery of water in Israel.

  415. It begins in Galilee and the high country where the water and the snow melt runs off into the Sea of Galilee.

  416. The Sea of Galilee sends out this river, the Jordan River.

  417. It flows 75 miles down through Israel, north to south, and it flows into its repository, which is the Dead Sea.

  418. Now here's what you need to know about the River Jordan.

  419. It's the lowest river on earth.

  420. It begins at 700 feet below sea level and it terminates at 1,400 feet below sea level.

  421. The lowest river on earth.

  422. It terminates into the Dead Sea, and the Dead Sea is called the Dead Sea because it is dead.

  423. The only thing that lives in it is bacteria and single-celled algae.

  424. No life lives in the Dead Sea.

  425. The River Jordan has a flood season every year in March and April.

  426. As a matter of fact, it's referred to in Joshua chapter 3, verse 15, when they go to cross over into the Promised Land.

    Joshua 3:15

  427. It was during the time of the flood when the Jordan is overflowing its banks.

  428. The river Jordan flows constantly, but in the flood season, it overflows.

  429. And what this illustration does is it reminds us that sin is flowing through our life.

  430. It's the lowest river on the planet.

  431. And it terminates in nothing but death.

  432. But then grace came.

  433. And grace overflowed the banks.

  434. You can't see the boundaries of that river during the flood season because it's overflowing.

  435. You understand?

  436. That's the picture that's being given here when it says, in Adam sin abounded, but in Christ, grace much more abounds.

  437. It flowed in Adam, but it overflows in Christ.

  438. In Adam, death.

  439. In Christ, life.

  440. And life eternal.

  441. Jesus is the solution to our sin problem.

  442. Because he lived a perfect life.

  443. He was tempted in all points, like as we are.

  444. He was tempted like Adam was.

  445. Remember, Adam and Eve is tempted by the devil.

  446. What happens at that temptation?

  447. Failure.

  448. Jesus comes on the scene.

  449. The first thing that happens is he goes into the wilderness and he's tempted of the devil, but he does not fall.

  450. Jesus lives this perfect life.

  451. He's tempted in all points, like as we are, yet without sin.

  452. And he took the punishment for our sins on the cross.

  453. And I want you to hear this.

  454. Because sometimes, at least for me, that that sort of thing became a trite expression, meaningless.

  455. Jesus loves you.

  456. Jesus died for you.

  457. Jesus loves the whole world.

  458. Listen, it's not generic, it's specific.

  459. Hebrews 2.9 says, but we see Jesus.

  460. And I'd like to add only Jesus.

  461. Who was made a little lower than the angels.

  462. Why was he made a little lower than the angels?

  463. Well, it says for the suffering of death.

  464. That's why he took on human flesh, was so that he could die.

  465. God, the Son, in his original form, could not die.

  466. It was impossible.

  467. And so he takes on a human body that is capable of dying.

  468. And so he's made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death.

  469. Crowned with glory and honor.

  470. This is what I want you to hear.

  471. That he, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man.

  472. Jesus died for everyone.

  473. Every single one.

  474. You see, we all have the same problem.

  475. And we all need the same solution.

  476. I would even say this for those of you who are logically minded.

  477. The problem and the solution both point to the fact that everyone needs to be saved.

  478. The problem of sin and the solution of Jesus' death for sin both point to the fact that everyone needs to be saved.

  479. I declare that you cannot deny the problem of sin.

  480. How are you going to deny the problem of sin when it is universally proven?

  481. Open up your phone, open up your computer, turn on your TV, and you're going to see sin that has happened.

  482. Is burning down a church?

  483. Is arson a sin?

  484. Is killing a sin?

  485. Is robbery a sin?

  486. And it's happening all the time, all over the world.

  487. Nobody's figured out how to get a society that is free of criminals.

  488. Why?

  489. Because it is universally true that we are sinners, but I would say that's also proven personally.

  490. Are you perfect?

  491. Do you always do what's right?

  492. Always think what's right, always say what's right, always put God first in everything?

  493. And if you're honest, you have to say with me, no, I don't.

  494. And so I'm telling you, we can't deny the problem that everyone has.

  495. So why then would you deny the only valid solution to your sin problem?

  496. That's the question for anybody who is not saved.

  497. Why would you deny the only valid solution?

  498. Today is the day of salvation.

  499. Do not put it off for another day.

  500. Would you bow with it?

  501. Their heads are bowed, our eyes are closed.

  502. I want to give an opportunity to anybody who might be here today who has not yet trusted Christ.

  503. I know that it's a big decision, and I also know that sometimes it's a tough decision.

  504. It was for me.

  505. I remember wrestling with that decision when I began to be convicted by God about my need for salvation.

  506. Well, what if I can't live up to this?

  507. What will other people think?

  508. What will life look like?

  509. Well, what if I can't do these things?

  510. And so maybe you're here today, you've never trusted Christ.

  511. Maybe you have these anxieties about it, maybe you haven't seen it clearly before.

  512. Oh, my friend, let me tell you, you have no promise of tomorrow.

  513. You could leave this church and you could leave this world today.

  514. And that is why the Bible says today is the day of salvation.

  515. If God has made you aware, opened your eyes to see that you have a sin problem.

  516. We all have a sin problem, and there's only one solution, then I beg you, don't put off that solution another day.

  517. Bow the knee to Christ.

  518. Put your faith and trust in him.

  519. Don't worry about how you're going to live that Christian life.

  520. He lives it for you.

  521. All you have to do is trust him.

  522. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God's raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.

  523. Oh Lord, I do pray if there's anybody here today or anybody watching this broadcast that is not yet saved, I pray, Lord, that today they would make that decision, that they would just surrender their lives to you, knowing that they have a problem that they can't solve, but that you are the answer that they need.

  524. Oh Lord, help each one to take that simple yet massive step of faith and to believe in you as the only solution for their sin problem.

  525. Lord, I'm so thankful that you've opened the invitation, that you have called us to this, and that you have told us that we qualify.

  526. Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  527. Oh, Lord, that some would call on you today and be saved.

  528. I pray in Jesus' name.

  529. Amen.
