Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we're going to talk about the identity of Jesus.
-
And very important, we need to know who he is according to the scriptures. So let's pray.
-
Lord Jesus, we thank you for your love and your mercies. We pray,
-
God, that you will pour out revelation today of who you are.
-
I pray that you will give me divine utterance and unction, that you will help
-
me to edify your people, and that you will prepare the hearts of the people
-
that listen to this video, that they will receive the revelation of truth.
-
Because you said, I am the way, the truth, and the light. So no man can come
-
unto you unless you draw them. So Lord, let your mercies fall afresh and lead
-
us in this study. In Jesus' name, amen. Praise God.
-
So we're going to go to Acts chapter 2, verse 36. And it says,
-
Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God had made that
-
same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
-
So he is made Lord and Christ.
-
So he's calling him, we know the scripture says, here, O Israel,
-
the Lord our God is one, one Lord.
-
So he's the Lord and Christ, the anointed one.
-
So let's go to Hebrews chapter 11, verse 6, which says, but without faith it
-
is impossible to please him.
-
For he that cometh to God must believe that he is, So we have to believe that
-
He is God, which means we have to be able to identify Him so we can know who He is.
-
And then it says, And that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
-
So it's very important we understand who we're seeking.
-
Praise God. So Jesus Christ is the Almighty God who created all things.
-
He was God in human form.
-
And we're going to search the scriptures to see if what I just said was true.
-
Praise God. Let's start with Isaiah 9, verse 6.
-
It says, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,
-
and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful,
-
Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
-
So this is a scripture, a prophecy of Jesus Christ.
-
And we can note that he is called what? The Mighty God. So we know there's only one God.
-
And then it says even more clearly, this is the clearest scripture.
-
It says that he is called the everlasting father.
-
So how many everlasting fathers do we have? There can only be one.
-
So Jesus is the father. He is the father in the flesh. So the father represents
-
the spirit of God because the Bible says God is the spirit.
-
We're going to watch. I'll show you to the scriptures. So watch this. Praise God.
-
Let's go to Deuteronomy 6, verse 4.
-
Which says, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord.
-
So we know that God is one.
-
And then if we go to Matthew chapter 23, verse 9, it says, And call no man your
-
father upon the earth, for one is your father which is in heaven.
-
So for the fact that that scripture says to call him the everlasting father,
-
it has to be referenced to the father, meaning the one in heaven. Praise God.
-
Matthew 1, verse 23 says, Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring
-
forth a son, and it shall call his name Emmanuel, which is being interpreted.
-
Which being interpreted is God with us.
-
So Jesus is God with us.
-
So Jesus, God is a spirit. He robed himself in flesh.
-
So why is he called the son of God? Because according to the flesh, he was born a son.
-
But according to the spirit, he is the father. He's the creator.
-
Praise God. We're going to see as the scriptures show us that this is what it
-
teaches. There's not a trinity. There's not a three people. There's not three
-
persons that make one God. But there's just one God.
-
So he is the father. He is the son. He is the Holy Ghost. And he has only one
-
name. And that name is above every name, which is Jesus Christ. Praise God.
-
So let's go to 1 Timothy 3, verse 16.
-
It says, And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness.
-
Notice it didn't say mystery of God. It says godliness. God was manifest in the flesh.
-
So right there is declaring to us, God was manifest. What does manifest mean?
-
Made known. So God was made known how? In the flesh.
-
So that's who Jesus was. When he's called the Son of God, it represents God.
-
In the flesh because God is a spirit. We can't see a spirit,
-
but Jesus is God in the flesh.
-
So when we talk about the Son of God, we're talking about God in the flesh.
-
When we're talking about the Father, we're talking about God as spirit. Praise God.
-
So then it says, God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
-
seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles.
-
They preached Jesus.
-
So if they preached Jesus, and it says, this is a description of what God was.
-
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels,
-
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
-
So that's God that was received up into glory.
-
Now watch this. Colossians chapter 1, verse 14 to 17.
-
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins,
-
who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. Listen to this.
-
For by Him, by Jesus Christ, were all things created,
-
that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
-
whether they be thrones or dominions, principalities or powers.
-
All things were created by Him and for Him.
-
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
-
All things. That would include the Father. He has to be the Father to have this
-
type of title, to have all this praise of accolades of saying who He is,
-
that all things were made by Him, all things that consist.
-
That means all things that are alive or all things that are real,
-
all things that have been made, are made by Jesus.
-
Philippians chapter 2, verse 5 to 11 says, Let this mind be in you,
-
which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God.
-
So why does he say he's in the form of God? Because God is not a man. That's why.
-
He came in the form of God because the essence of God is spirit.
-
So he came in the form of God.
-
Thought it not robbery to be what? Equal with God.
-
So why is he saying that? Why is he saying he didn't think it was robbery to
-
be equal? He's saying he's equal with God.
-
He didn't think it was robbery. Why? How can you be equal with God if there's only one God?
-
He's saying this because he was talking about the specific manifestation of
-
God coming in the flesh, but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant
-
and was made in the likeness of men.
-
So notice it said he was made in the likeness of men. Because why? Because he wasn't a man.
-
God is not a man. God is a spirit.
-
The scripture is saying, but he was made in the likeness of men.
-
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient
-
unto death, even the death of the cross.
-
Wherefore, God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above
-
every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven.
-
So if everything, listen to what it's saying here. It says,
-
and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every
-
knee should bow of things in heaven and things in the earth and things under the earth.
-
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
-
So if everything's bowing down, even in heaven.
-
Then the Father cannot be separated from the Son. That's why Jesus said, My Father and I are one.
-
They are one. They're not two, they're not three. They are one because Jesus
-
is God in the flesh. Praise God.
-
Romans 14.11 says, For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord,
-
So we just read in Philippians that every knee will bow to Jesus and that every
-
tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
-
But when we read Romans 14, 11, it doesn't say Jesus here. It says.
-
So he's quoting an Old Testament scripture here. He's talking about the Father here.
-
He says, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
-
So are we seeing that you have to equate this as Jesus is the Father?
-
Otherwise, this is a contradiction.
-
Because one is saying everyone will bow to Jesus. The other one is saying everyone will bow to God.
-
So let's do some more referencing. Isaiah 42, verse 8,
-
says, I in the Lord, that is my name, and my glory will I not give to another,
-
neither my praise to graven energy.
-
So if God would not share his glory to anyone else, people, the scripture teaches
-
us that people worship Jesus.
-
They said they bowed down and worshiped him.
-
And he didn't stop them. He didn't rebuke them for doing that.
-
So in the scripture that we just read, every knee is going to bow to Jesus regardless.
-
So God would not do that.
-
Jesus has to be, he has to be God. He has to be the father.
-
Otherwise, this would be a contradiction. So the scripture doesn't contradict
-
itself. It's very clear of who he is. It's just trying to show us who he is. It's that simple.
-
So God is not going to share his glory with nobody else Matthew 28 verse 9 says,
-
And as they went to tell his disciples Behold, Jesus met them saying,
-
All hail So Jesus said that And listen to what it says And they came and held
-
him by the feet And worshipped him,
-
Jesus said all hail Meaning all hail me And then it says they went to his feet
-
They bowed down And it says and they worshipped him.
-
What did Jesus tell the devil?
-
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God only. You can only worship God.
-
That would have been blasphemy if Jesus wasn't the Father, if He wasn't the Almighty One.
-
Let's continue to read. Isaiah 43, verse 10 and 11.
-
Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant, whom I have chosen,
-
that ye may know and believe me and understand that I am he.
-
Before me there was no God formed. Praise God. Neither shall there be after
-
you. Are you hearing this?
-
I, even I, am the Lord, and beside me there is no Savior.
-
Jesus is our Savior. For the people who want to separate them,
-
he says there's no Savior beside me.
-
So you can't separate them. Jesus is our Savior. The Father is our Savior.
-
God is our Savior. Praise God.
-
The scriptures are very clear and they're very consistent in what we're saying.
-
Hallelujah. Psalms 65, verse 2.
-
O thou that hearest prayer unto thee, shall all flesh come.
-
So this is the question now. Let's explain now how this works.
-
Because now people have the questions of, if Jesus was God, why did he pray to the Father?
-
Well, the scripture that I just read, Jesus came to fulfill the scriptures.
-
That's what it says. So listen to this.
-
The scripture says, O thou that hearest prayer. So he's talking about God.
-
And it says, Unto thee shall what?
-
All flesh come.
-
God, Jesus Christ, remember, was what? God in the flesh.
-
So even though Jesus was God, he was also a human.
-
When he came in the flesh, he was 100% man and 100% God. God put himself in
-
a human being. So he was God.
-
So as a man, he had to sleep. As a man, he had to eat. As a man,
-
he had to go to the washroom.
-
But as God, what did he do? He walked on water. As God, he did all the miracles.
-
You know what I'm saying? So as God, he can do whatever he wants.
-
But as a man, he humbled himself. As a man, he subjected himself to what?
-
To the will of the Father. What does that mean? The will of the Spirit.
-
That's what it means. The will of the Spirit. The will of God. Because God is a Spirit.
-
And they that worship him must worship him in Spirit. and in truth.
-
Praise God. So.
-
And that's what the Bible says. John chapter 4, verse 24 says, God.
-
So remember, John chapter 4, verse 24 says, God is a spirit.
-
And they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
-
So when Jesus died on the cross, God didn't die. Some people make those statements.
-
Oh, Jesus was God. Then why did he die?
-
Well, God is a spirit. God never died. The flesh died.
-
So remember, the spirit of God is God. The flesh is not God.
-
And that's why you have to separate the two different identities or manifestations,
-
of there's the Son of God, which represents God in the flesh.
-
But then there's the Father, which represents the totality of God in spirit,
-
because in spirit, God is everywhere.
-
But in the Son, think about it like this.
-
When Jesus was on earth, how many people could he talk to at one time?
-
How many places could he be at one time?
-
He can only be at one place at one time.
-
But as God, He's everywhere.
-
He's everywhere. So even while all of God was in Jesus, the same time,
-
God was holding the world in the palm of His hand.
-
And I think that's the part that people either don't understand or they can't
-
comprehend. That's what makes Him God.
-
We don't have to comprehend that, but we know that that's what the Scriptures
-
teach, that He is everywhere.
-
The Scripture says in Psalms, If I make my bed in hell, you're there.
-
If I go to the highest mountain, you're there. It doesn't matter where you go. God is there.
-
So yes, at the same time, while God was embodied in a person,
-
at the same time, he's still in heaven.
-
He's still in the earth. He's still in the universe. Because that's what God
-
is. He's a spirit and he reigns and rules and he fulfills and consists of all things. Praise God.
-
Let's read now John chapter 2 verse 19 to 21.
-
It says, Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple and in three
-
days I, Jesus said, I will raise it up.
-
Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple and building,
-
and will thou rear it up in three days?
-
But he spake of the temple of his body. He was talking about himself.
-
So we can clearly note Jesus said, I will do it.
-
But then now, if we go to Acts 5, verse 30, it says, The God of our fathers raised up Jesus.
-
Whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
-
This is not trying to separate them. It's not trying to say the Father is separate from Jesus.
-
It's trying to show us that Jesus is the Father.
-
It's trying to show us and understand that the manifestation of the Son is separate.
-
Yes, it's a separate manifestation of God.
-
Just like God manifested himself in the flame to Moses.
-
That was a manifestation of God. He came in a flame. Is God a flame? No, He's not a flame.
-
Yes, you could say He's a consuming fire. He's all these things, but He's a spirit.
-
So when God came in the form of a man, He has a title. It's called the Son of God.
-
So we've got to understand that. He is the Son of God by a title,
-
but that doesn't mean He's not the Father.
-
The Father represents the Spirit. The Spirit was inside of Him.
-
So again, the scriptures cannot contradict themselves.
-
One minute it says, I will raise you, I will raise myself up.
-
And then the next minute it says, God raised him up.
-
So it is the God of our fathers raised up Jesus.
-
So again, this is not a contradiction. Brethren, the Bible says that we're supposed
-
to, in order for us to understand the context of scripture, the Bible says we're
-
supposed to go line upon line, here a little, there a little, precept upon precept.
-
So if that's how we're supposed to do it, We're trying to do,
-
what we're doing right now is putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.
-
Because if you don't put all the pieces together, how can you see the picture?
-
You're only seeing partial picture if you don't put all the pieces in.
-
So yes, I know you're going to say the scriptures of like, well,
-
why did God say my father is greater than I?
-
Pretty simple. The spirit is greater than the flesh.
-
God was in the flesh. So when he said that my father, he's saying my spirit
-
is greater than my flesh.
-
This is not that hard to understand. You need to understand the context because
-
otherwise, if I were to believe that the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost
-
were separate, then it would contradict every scripture that I'm sharing with you right now.
-
That's how I know it can't be true. It cannot be true. Praise God.
-
And then notice what it says. Matthew 5 verse 17 says,
-
Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets.
-
I am not come to destroy but to fulfill So Jesus came to fulfill the scriptures,
-
And that's why he had to pray That's why he had to be baptized That's why he
-
had to suffer and go through what he went through Because it was written of him So you.
-
We need to understand that Jesus was God at all times.
-
And when he prayed and cried out and said, Father, Father, why is that forsaking me?
-
His flesh was crying out. God did not forsake him, but his flesh was in the
-
middle of turmoil and it was just crying out.
-
But they cannot be separated because then there's two creators and there can't be two creators.
-
Jesus is that creator. He is the Father. He is the Son. He is the Holy Ghost.
-
In fact, just to prove to you, if you think about it, Jesus said,
-
I'll send the Comforter in my name. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost.
-
So let me read. Let me go to Ephesians chapter 4. Let me show you something
Ephesians 4 chapter mention
-
before we close this video out.
-
Listen to this scripture. Ephesians 4, and we're going to read from verse 4.
-
It says, There is one body and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.
-
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. There's only one way to do things, and that's God's way.
-
Then it says, listen to verse 6, One God and Father of all Who is above all,
-
And through all And in you all,
-
Jesus said, I will be in you And he's saying the Father is in you all Brethren.
-
It's very clear in the scriptures There's only one God So Jesus has to be that
-
one God So I hope this video helped you.
-
I can go deeper, right, to show you how Jesus is the Father.
-
He is the Father. That's why he said over and over, the scriptures I didn't
-
mention, there's so many.
-
When Doubting Thomas saw him and he said, oh, I'm not going to believe that Jesus is resurrected.
-
Then what does it say? Jesus came back and says, oh, you know,
-
put your fingers through my hand and through my side.
-
And what was Thomas' response?
-
His response was, my Lord and my God.
-
There can only be one. There can only be one.
-
The scripture says that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus.
-
Think about that scripture. Fullness of the Godhead. What does fullness mean?
-
Fullness means complete, all of. If I have a cup and there's water in it,
-
it means you can't put any more in it because it's full.
-
It means you can't get more into it. So if the fullness of the Godhead was in
-
Jesus Christ, then you can't get more of God.
-
It's all of God was in Jesus Christ.
-
Who Jesus was or all of God is who God was was in Jesus Christ.
-
The fullness of the Godhead. So the Godhead is one, not three.
-
Praise God. Any questions, let me know in the comments. God bless you. Have a good day.
