-
Now let's get right to the message.
-
Before I get started this morning, I just want to take a moment and um let you know that if any of you are offended at me or don't like me, they raise me.
-
It's their fault.
-
This is my mom and dad, um, David and Carolyn Talent.
-
And um just glad to have them here this morning.
-
Yeah.
-
So everybody at the same time, say your first name.
-
Are you ready?
-
One, two, three.
-
All right, you met them all.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
I woke up this morning at 3000 a.m.
-
Yes, three zero zero a.m.
-
That's what my clock said.
-
And I I just heard in my spirit mighty warrior, Prince of Peace.
-
And I'm like, okay.
-
That was interesting.
-
So I just started studying along those lines, and that's kind of what the Lord gave me.
-
I had been studying on the Prince of Peace for a number of days, so I didn't come unprepared, but um this morning really sealed the deal for me that today's message will be about the mighty warrior, the Prince of Peace.
-
Jesus is the Prince of Peace, but he's not passive.
-
The peace of God is not to surrender to evil.
-
The church is called to stand in spiritual authority, unite around the gospel, and advance the kingdom of God.
-
Isaiah chapter 9, verse 6 says, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
-
Notice the names given to Jesus.
-
He's wonderful.
-
He's the counselor, he's the mighty God, he is the everlasting Father, he is the Prince of Peace.
-
We love to talk about Jesus as the Prince of Peace, and rightly so.
-
He brings peace to troubled hearts, he reconciles us to the Father.
-
Those are great things.
-
He brings peace between people, which is great.
-
And he brings peace ultimately between God and man.
-
But I want you to notice something about Isaiah's description.
-
The Prince of Peace is also called a mighty God.
-
A mighty God.
-
Exodus 15, 3 says, the Lord is a man of war.
-
The Lord is his name.
-
He is not a weak God.
-
He's not intimidated by the devil.
-
He is not frightened by darkness of this world.
-
He's not sitting in heaven, wringing his hands, wondering how everything's going to turn out.
-
He's Almighty God.
-
When we think of peace, we sometimes picture a person sitting quietly in a corner, avoiding conflict, refusing to get involved, and hoping everything works out by itself.
-
But biblical peace is not always the absence of conflict.
-
Sometimes peace requires someone with courage and strength to stand against what is destroying this world.
-
A police officer, think about it, a police officer who interferes to protect an innocent person is not the enemy of peace.
-
A father who protects his family is not the enemy of peace.
-
A nation that stands against aggression is not the enemy of peace.
-
And a church that stands against the works of the devil is not the enemy of peace.
-
The word peace in the Hebrew language is the word shalom.
-
How many have ever heard of the word shalom?
-
Shalom means peace, wholeness, well-being, restoration, prosperity, and Jesus is the Prince of Shalom.
-
That word also could be recognized as the phrase, nothing missing, nothing broken.
-
Everything is in order and everything is complete.
-
That is the God we serve.
-
If it's not complete, it's not God.
-
If it's not at peace, it's not God.
-
If it's not good, it's not God.
-
Amen.
-
We have to separate that in our minds.
-
We got to know God is always a God of peace, justice, and righteousness.
-
The Prince of Peace is mighty, and his church must learn to stand in the authority he has given us.
-
Today I want to preach just a little bit about peace through strength.
-
Because we will not advance the kingdom of God by being spiritually passive.
-
I should get a better amen.
-
We will not overcome darkness by being afraid to speak the truth.
-
We will not fulfill the Great Commission by spending all our times fighting amongst each other about secondary matters.
-
The church needs to understand who Jesus is, who we are in him, and what we have been called to accomplish while we're here on this earth.
-
The church needs to understand that we are called for such a time as this.
-
Romans 16, verse 20 says, And the God of peace shall crush Satan under your feet.
-
And it says, shortly he's going to do it.
-
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
-
Amen.
-
Some illustrations say bruise Satan's head.
-
I just like the King James where it said he's going to crush it.
-
Paul does not say that the God of war will crush Satan under your feet.
-
He says that the God of peace will crush Satan.
-
I'm sorry, Paul does not say that the God of war will crush Satan just under your feet.
-
He said the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet.
-
The God of peace is not powerless against the enemy.
-
The God of peace is not intimidated by the devil.
-
So we're not supposed to be intimidated by the devil.
-
Come on, somebody.
-
The God of peace will put Satan under your feet, the feet of his people.
-
Peace and strength are not enemies.
-
God's peace does not mean that he has surrendered to the devil.
-
It means that God is establishing his purpose and defeating the works of darkness.
-
I want you to notice something else in this verse.
-
It says, Satan will be crushed under your foot, under your feet.
-
So that gives us a privilege to operate as children of God in the authority that God gave us so that we can be participators in this war.
-
How many of you all like to fight?
-
I got a few.
-
I got a few fighters in here.
-
I think most of you are like, I just like peace and love.
-
We have to be people who realize we're under attack.
-
The church is under attack.
-
Did you know that?
-
That there is a warfare going on in the spiritual realm and we're under attack.
-
The enemy wants to kill, steal, and destroy you.
-
He wants to take your lunch and pop the bag.
-
He wants to just take everything you own and wipe your name just completely out of this world.
-
He hates you.
-
But we serve a God who has defeated him.
-
But every once in a while, he gives us the opportunity to stomp on his head just to remind him that he's defeated.
-
But if you don't stomp on his head and remind him that he's defeated, he will completely run all over you.
-
We have to remind him that he is defeated.
-
That God declawed him.
-
He's just like a toothless kitty with no claws.
-
He's been defeated, he's been declawed, defanged.
-
He just likes to run his mouth.
-
But if you buy into his lie, he can defeat you.
-
But thanks be unto God, if you know your authority in Jesus' name, you can always walk in the victory and the triumph of Christ.
-
We are not powerless, we are victorious in the name of Jesus.
-
God is the one who brings the victory.
-
We are the one who enforce it.
-
We're not called to sit back and watch the devil destroy this nation.
-
We're supposed to stand up against the wiles of the enemy.
-
Take your rightful position, your rightful place in the kingdom of God and stand against all forms of darkness and those things of injustice.
-
Don't allow the enemy just to take over your homes.
-
He does not own your homes.
-
You need to take authority over your house, plead the blood over your house, walk into your house and say, in the name of Jesus, I take authority in the name of Jesus over this home.
-
This house will be a house of peace.
-
It's my house.
-
You're responsible to do that, sir.
-
You're responsible to take authority over your home.
-
If you don't do it, nobody will.
-
God will not do it for you.
-
He gave you the authority to take authority over your home.
-
If you don't have peace in your home, you need to take authority over that spirit in the name of Jesus.
-
Kick out everything that does not represent the love of God, the glory of God, the things that are evil, the things that are of darkness.
-
Take those things and throw them out of your house and speak the name of Jesus over your house and say, forevermore, this house will glorify you.
-
This will be a house of rest, a house of peace.
-
That's your responsibility.
-
Zephaniah 3, verse 17 says, The Lord your God in your midst, the mighty one will save.
-
He will rejoice over you with gladness.
-
He will quiet you with his love.
-
He will rejoice over you with singing.
-
That's the Lord.
-
The Lord's going to dance over you, and he's going to rejoice over you.
-
And he's the mighty God, the victorious one.
-
Jesus has defeated the enemy.
-
We're called to enforce his victory through faith, prayer, preaching of the gospel, and authority in his name.
-
Now we need to understand this: that this does not mean we get to treat people like our enemies.
-
People are not your enemies.
-
That person sitting right beside you is not your enemy.
-
In fact, look over at your neighbor and say, You're not my enemy, I love you.
-
But then look at him again and say, But I'm going to tell you the truth.
-
Paul tells us exactly what our real enemy is and who our real enemy is.
-
He says this in Ephesians 6:12, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against, everybody say against?
-
Principalities and powers against, everybody say against.
-
Rulers of this darkness of this world.
-
Everybody say against against spiritual wickedness in high places.
-
So there is an enemy we are fighting against.
-
Don't be misinformed.
-
You can't just come to church and everything be hunky-dory and okay.
-
You have to fight.
-
Oh, come on, somebody.
-
Do I have some boxers in here that are just getting stirred up right now?
-
Are you hungry?
-
Are you wanting to fight tonight?
-
Let's get ready to rumble.
-
Come on, somebody.
-
We'll spend a lot of money watching a fight, but sometimes it's time for us to take off the gloves and get ready to fight ourselves.
-
Amen.
-
I'm ready to punch something right now.
-
Come here, Parker.
-
We don't overcome darkness by becoming hateful people, though.
-
Hatefulness is not godliness.
-
But I will say, if you want to be hateful, be hateful at the devil.
-
Be hateful at sickness.
-
Be hateful at disease.
-
Be hateful at sin.
-
Hate what God hates.
-
And love what God loves.
-
Hate what God hates.
-
Love what God loves.
-
That's our call.
-
That's our purpose is to love everything He loves and to hate injustice.
-
That's why we must learn to fight the right battles in life.
-
Stop fighting the fruit and get to the root.
-
Stop boxing apples over there.
-
Get to the root of the issues in your life and take authority over those issues.
-
Don't be a fruit picker.
-
I'm getting rid of all this fruit.
-
Don't worry about the fruit.
-
Get to the root of the issue, and the fruit will eventually die off.
-
Amen.
-
We are people who fight the right fight the right way.
-
We stand in victory that Jesus has already purchased.
-
He's already accomplished, and he's given us that authority in his name.
-
John 14, 27 says, Peace I leave with you.
-
My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
-
Let your heart, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
-
Jesus left us his peace.
-
Jesus left us his peace.
-
Okay?
-
He said, I'm going to leave you my peace, not as the world giveth.
-
You cannot gain peace by entertaining this world system.
-
This world system does not have the peace that passes understanding.
-
This world system does not have peace that guards your hearts and minds.
-
It cannot.
-
That's Philippians 4, 7.
-
You cannot have peace apart from Jesus.
-
True peace only comes through a revelation of who Jesus is.
-
Jesus gives us peace, but notice what he tells his disciples don't let your hearts be troubled and don't be afraid.
-
The peace of God gives us the ability to stand when everything around us is shaken.
-
When everything around us seems like it's going the wrong way, we can tap into the peace of God.
-
And we can know that we have that peace, and that peace will never leave you.
-
It will never forsake you because peace is Jesus.
-
He said he would be a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
-
He'll never leave us, never forsake us.
-
So you can always it, you can always know that peace will always be with you.
-
It does not mean, though, you won't have to confront things because you will have to confront an enemy.
-
It doesn't mean that we'll never take a stand.
-
You will have to take a stand.
-
It doesn't mean you'll never say, uh, you'll never have to confront something that's wrong.
-
It literally means we can stand without being controlled by fear.
-
We can speak truth without being controlled by anger.
-
We can speak or we can confront evil without becoming evil.
-
Amen.
-
We can stand firm without losing the peace of God in our hearts.
-
Some people think that if you're truly peaceful, you'll never disagree with anybody.
-
It's time for the church to be tough-skinned and tender-hearted.
-
Not tender-skinned and tough hearted.
-
You need to be able to take correction the right way because God loves you enough he's going to correct you.
-
If he doesn't correct you, he doesn't love you.
-
The fact that he corrects us means he loves you.
-
We should accept correction so that we can walk in the peace of God in our life.
-
Jesus did not avoid confrontation.
-
Jesus did not react to situations, but he did respond and he did act.
-
When he saw the misrepresentation of who he was in the temple, the Bible says he formed a whip and he drove them out of the temple, swinging a whip at them and turning over tables.
-
That's my God.
-
That's my king.
-
Some people think that things will just go away if we'll ignore them.
-
That ticking sound in your car, you can ignore it all day long.
-
But until you fix it, your car is going downhill and it's about to explode.
-
So the best thing you can do is go fix your car before it completely leaves you on the side of the road and nobody to help you.
-
Take the warnings.
-
Peace does not mean that we surrender our convictions.
-
It means we stand for our convictions without surrendering our hearts to fear, hatred, or strife.
-
Ephesians 6, 13 through 15 says, Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, stand.
-
Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
-
What does Paul mention?
-
Why is he mentioning feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace?
-
What does he mean by that?
-
He was talking about soldiers needing to be able to stand their ground.
-
Peace is you being able to stand your ground in the midst of a dark and corrupt world.
-
Roman military footwear was designed to provide traction and stability.
-
Some military shoes incorporated hobnails or studs to improve grip to improve the grip that they had on the ground.
-
And I heard one guy say that sometimes they had three inch spikes in those things.
-
So when the enemy was down, I'll just leave it right there.
-
We'll keep it PG.
-
The whole The point was to keep your footing and to stay stable.
-
Paul uses that picture to teach something about spiritual warfare.
-
We need our feet firmly planted upon the gospel of peace.
-
Firmly planted.
-
We need to know what Jesus has done for us.
-
We need to know that we have peace with God through Jesus Christ.
-
And we need to know that we are in Him.
-
When the enemy comes with condemnation, we stand in our righteousness.
-
When the enemy comes with fear, we stand in our faith.
-
When the enemy comes with deception, we stand with the truth.
-
When the enemy tries to divide the church, we stand and unite in the Spirit.
-
And when the enemy tries to intimidate us into silence, we continue to preach the gospel of light.
-
I think about soldiers standing on a battlefield.
-
They need more than good intentions.
-
They need their feet firmly planted on something a cause, a purpose, a plan.
-
The plan is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
And we have to have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
-
Church, we need to be firmly planted upon the word of God.
-
Firmly.
-
Not swayed back and forth with every scheme of the devil.
-
We need to know what we believe and believe it with all our hearts.
-
And we need to be ready to share the gospel of peace to people who desperately need it.
-
We don't advance the kingdom of God by retreating to this enemy's world system.
-
We have to be proactive.
-
We have to advance.
-
We cannot stop.
-
Just because they say they're winning, just because they say they're powerful, does not mean they've won the war.
-
They are defeated.
-
They're only spewing all their hatefulness and all their anger is because their light of the glorious gospel has exposed their dark deeds.
-
The kingdom of God must advance with spiritual force.
-
I'm going to fast forward just for a second before I finish up something I want to say.
-
You see it as you're watching the news or anything.
-
You're talking to people at the gas pump.
-
They'll let you know everything that's going on.
-
You have certain groups who are joining forces with communism, joining forces with Islam for one common goal, that's to defeat Christianity in America.
-
The devil knows that these people don't like each other.
-
They in fact hate each other.
-
You don't have one person in that party that loves each other, that stands with each other, agrees with each other, but they have one common goal, and that's they hate Christians.
-
And they hate everything that stands for the light of the glorious gospel.
-
So you'll have people that are complete communists and people who are Islam and people who hate each other to join hands with each other for a common cause.
-
And that's to advance abortion in this country.
-
That's to mutilate children in this country.
-
And if we don't stand up and do our part, this America that we know right now will turn and it will be a totally different America in the future.
-
And the very freedom that we have to stand behind this pulpit and talk about the peace of God will be stripped from each and every one of us if we stand passively and allow the enemy to come in and run all over the church.
-
The church better stand up.
-
The church better wise up and realize that we have to take our authority and our stand.
-
Or else we're going to find ourselves in a few years hiding and running from the darkness.
-
I know I'm not supposed to preach politics.
-
This is not politics.
-
This is right and this is wrong.
-
This is godly, this is evil.
-
This is righteous, this is horrible of darkness and deception.
-
God is a mighty warrior.
-
Ultimately, the devil is defeated.
-
His time is running out.
-
But until that time runs out, God has put us here on this earth to take our rightful place, our rightful position, and stand upon the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and see his kingdom glorified and his righteousness magnified, and see many people come into the kingdom of God through that.
-
Amen.
-
Light exposes darkness, and the darkness hates the light because it exposes their injustice, their problems.
-
The reason why they have months set aside for these people is because they're so hungry to bring darkness upon this earth, and it makes them feel good that people accept them.
-
Guys, I don't accept it.
-
I don't accept that homosexuality is of God.
-
Homosexuality is a sin.
-
Let me say it over here.
-
Homosexuality is a sin.
-
And I don't care what they teach at your school, it is not hateful, it is not mean to know that it's wrong and it's a sin.
-
It's still an abomination to God.
-
It is wrong.
-
And the fact that people just pander to it and we just accept it as this is normal now, it is not normal.
-
Do we love these people?
-
Absolutely.
-
But Jesus was a God who spoke truth and he spoke love, and he told them exactly what would set them free and give them peace.
-
And that's exactly what we're gonna do is we're gonna tell them we love you, but what you're doing will destroy your life.
-
And there's a better way, in his name is Jesus.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
So don't be confused how we feel about it around here.
-
We love people, but we hate sin.
-
Because sin kills people and sends people to hell every day.
-
And I'm not for that and I don't just accept it like it's just normal.
-
It's not normal.
-
Amen.
-
Let's all stand up.
-
Isn't that a wonderful way to end today?
-
Glory.
-
Hallelujah.
-
I know it's not fun stuff to talk about, but pastors are not supposed to be passive and just allow any and everything to come into the church.
-
We have to stand up for what is right, what is true, and not allow it.
-
I will not, I will not stand for anything that comes into this building representing anything but unity in the body.
-
So be aware of the enemy, be aware of schemes, be aware of trickeries, be aware of the wiles of the devil.
-
Don't be taken back by it.
-
It's okay if somebody comes into this church and there's and they're demon-possessed, it's okay.
-
We'll just cast the devil out of them.
-
Amen.
-
It's no big deal.
-
We're not afraid of these things.
-
And if it happens, we're not attacking that person.
-
If I have to make corrections behind the podium here, if I have to say something, I'm not hating on people.
-
I love people.
-
But we have to tell people the truth because the truth is the only thing that'll make them free.
-
And the only thing that'll bring peace in your life is that you walk in the truth.
-
And if you're not walking in the truth this morning, man, you're not walking in peace.
-
And if you have something that's agitating you, you're not walking in peace.
-
You need to walk in peace.
-
And the only way to do that is keep your eyes on Jesus.
-
He's the author of peace.
-
He created it, he's the author and the finisher of it.
-
And praise the Lord.
-
If you will keep your eyes on Jesus, you'll always walk in peace.
-
Even through trials, even through tribulation, even through hard times, if you keep your eyes on Jesus, you'll know I have the peace of God.
-
Father, in Jesus' name, Lord, I thank you for this day.
-
Lord, I thank you for these people.
-
Lord, I thank you for the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that brings freedom, hope, and joy into the world that is dark.
-
And Lord, I thank you that you always prevail as we take our authority.
-
We will see victory after victory after victory in Jesus' name.
-
If you're in here today and you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you've never made that confession of faith, you've never exchanged your life for his life, if that's you and you would like to make Jesus the Lord of your life, would you please just step out from where you are and come up to the front?
-
I would like to pray with you and lead you to a relationship with Jesus.
-
If that's you and you've never received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I'll just give you a moment.
-
If that's you and you've never made that confession of faith, you've never believed in your heart, confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.
-
If that's you, you need to make that confession today.
-
Don't hold up, don't hold off.
-
Salvation is today.
-
Hallelujah.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Everybody look at me.
-
Love you guys.
-
Y'all want to fight?
-
Do I have any fighters in here?
-
Come on now.
-
Do I have any fighters in here?
-
Yeah.
-
We're not going to be passive about the things of this world.
-
We're going to stand for righteousness.
-
In Jesus' name.
-
Amen.
-
Hey guys, 5 o'clock.
-
We will see you here.
-
We're going to have such a good time.
-
Amen.
-
Be there, be square.
-
Amen.
-
What?
-
Bring your lawn chairs.
-
There you go.
-
Thank you.
-
Amen.
-
You guys are dismissed.
-
Thanks for listening.
-
We hope that this message helps you draw closer to God as you walk out your faith.
-
We'll see you next week.
