  1. Welcome, podcast family.

  2. My name is Joanna, and thank you for tuning in today.

  3. If you haven't already, please be sure to follow our podcast to stay up to date each week.

  4. We believe that God has a powerful word for you today.

  5. So let's dive into this amazing message.

  6. And we all have it, right?

  7. We all have junk in the trunk.

  8. And that's not an indictment on anyone.

  9. We all got junk in the trunk, but it's our job to deal with the junk in the trunk.

  10. You have to deal with it.

  11. And you didn't get it in a day, you didn't get it in a moment.

  12. You didn't get it in a second.

  13. Every place you've been, everything you've been through, every place you visited, it brought junk in the trunk.

  14. Every time you went and got food, every time you went to the store, every time you went somewhere, you accumulated junk.

  15. And you would be surprised by the amount of junk you can accumulate.

  16. I know at my house, man, we fill up both of our trash cans in like three days.

  17. I'm like, where's all this trash coming from?

  18. Where's this junk coming from?

  19. Have anyone in here ever moved before?

  20. Wouldn't you astounded?

  21. Because you're just like, uh, I should make about five hours.

  22. You know, we got some couches here, you know, bed set here, some dressers.

  23. Five, ten hours.

  24. Five weeks later.

  25. You're like, where did all this come from?

  26. How did I get all this junk?

  27. We accumulate junk.

  28. Some of you guys got a junk drawer.

  29. You know what I'm saying?

  30. Where I'm gonna feel like reading this member right now, I'm just putting it in the junk drawer.

  31. I'm gonna feel like opening this.

  32. This up, Bill, I don't got time.

  33. My emotions ain't got time for this, Bill.

  34. We're gonna put it in the drawer.

  35. Some of y'all got a junk closet.

  36. Well, I may want to take this mop back, so I'm gonna put the box in the junk closet, and all of a sudden it's been five years, you still got the box.

  37. You have junk and the trunk.

  38. Have you ever met someone that just keeps their car clean, squeaky, clean, outside, inside, all around their car?

  39. You ever met someone like that?

  40. Have you ever met someone the opposite where their car was dirty and nasty and smelly and stinky?

  41. Once I got in the car, and the car was beautiful on the outside, a nice, amazing car.

  42. I got in there, there wasn't just junk in the trunk, there was junk in the front seat, back seat, junk all over the place, fries on the floor, tried it and turn black because the junk in the trunk, and you know when you got junk in the trunk, because here's what some of y'all do.

  43. If we was trying to get ride with you right now, here's what you're gonna say.

  44. Wait, wait, right there.

  45. Let me get this junk and go put it where?

  46. In the trunk, right?

  47. But what you got all this junk for?

  48. You've accumulated all this junk, and I want you to know people are like cars.

  49. People are like cars, they got all kinds of junk.

  50. I got junk from my last relationship, I got junk from my last marriage, I got junk from my childhood, I got junk from what I've been through, from what I've seen.

  51. Now people got junk from social media.

  52. I just saw a video and I'm mad too.

  53. Like you got junk, you didn't even create.

  54. And we have all this junk in the trunk.

  55. And what we have to do is deal with the junk in the trunk, unpack the junk in the trunk, get rid of the junk in the trunk, because if we keep this junk, everybody associated with us is gonna deal with our junk.

  56. Everyone associated with us is gonna deal with our trash.

  57. Everyone associated with us, they're gonna experience our junk in the trunk.

  58. And we all have it, but it's our responsibility to what?

  59. Get rid of it.

  60. Are you willing to deal with the junk in your trunk?

  61. I'm gonna go through the Bible and I'm gonna show you a fella who had a bunch of junk in his trunk.

  62. If you have your Bibles, go to 1 Samuel, 1 Samuel chapter 10.

    1 Samuel 10 chapter mention

  63. You gotta deal with the junk in the trunk.

  64. And how this relates to relationships is this some of you guys, you meet, you you guys, you love each other, it's all goo, goo, guy, guy, real happy and fun.

  65. And then we get married and we start paying bills together, taking care of kids.

  66. We start dealing with life in real situations, and all of a sudden, somebody didn't pop the trunk on me.

  67. And now this junk starts falling out all over me.

  68. They ain't gonna pop the trunk when you start getting to know them.

  69. They're gonna wait till the marriage, and then the trunk gets popped.

  70. Why?

  71. Because in marriage, you're a passenger, and you can only hide the junk in the trunk for so long.

  72. And the single people are like, I don't believe that.

  73. Ask somebody, Mary.

  74. The married people are like, No, there's definitely junk in the trunk.

  75. The single people are like, No, it's not.

  76. There's no junk in the okay.

  77. We're gonna see.

  78. There's junk in the trunk.

  79. Married people, all the married people said, nothing.

  80. Nothing, okay?

  81. Before you add some more junk to the trunk.

  82. 1 Samuel chapter 10, verse 21.

    1 Samuel 10:21

  83. 1 Samuel 10, verse 21.

    1 Samuel 10:21

  84. I'll give you guys a second to get there.

  85. This is gonna be good today, guys.

  86. Then he brought each family member of the tribe of Benjamin before the Lord, and the family of the Mutrites was chosen.

  87. And finally, Saul, son of Kish, was chosen from among them.

  88. But when they looked for him, he had disappeared.

  89. So they looked for Saul, son of Kish, he had disappeared.

  90. So they asked the Lord, where is he?

  91. Do you know if somebody missing?

  92. You can ask the Lord where they're at, right?

  93. Like they asked the Lord, like that's that's pretty bizarre that someone's missing.

  94. Lord, where you at?

  95. And look at the Lord.

  96. It says, and the Lord replied, He's hiding among the baggage.

  97. So they found him and brought him out, and he stood head and shoulders above everyone else.

  98. Let's read again.

  99. And the Lord replied, He's hiding among the baggage.

  100. So they found him and brought him out, and he stood head and shoulders above everyone else.

  101. I want you to notice what the Bible says about Saul.

  102. The Bible says he stood head and shoulders above everyone else.

  103. What does that mean in the Bible?

  104. It just meant the brother was tall.

  105. I'm a tall guy.

  106. The brother was tall.

  107. And ladies, we like yeah, I like tall men, right?

  108. You you be dissing the short king.

  109. Short kings knee love too.

  110. Now, you know, thank God I'm a taller king, but short kings knee love too.

  111. You know what I'm saying?

  112. I'm just saying, he was a tall guy, head and shoulders taller above everyone else.

  113. But then he was hiding them under baggage.

  114. He was hiding them under baggage.

  115. In other words, what God is saying here is you can't just notice someone's height and ignore their heart.

  116. Because he looked good on the outside, he looked impressive on the outside, but he was intimidated on the inside.

  117. Oh, he looked successful on the outside, but he was scared on the inside.

  118. They can be beautiful on the outside and be broken in the inside.

  119. They can look like treasure on the outside and be full of trash on the inside.

  120. Don't just look at the external, look at the internal, because the Bible says man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

  121. You gotta look at the heart of a thing.

  122. You gotta look internally.

  123. When you're getting ready to pick someone, no, just look at the physical appearance, look at the inside because they can look impressive and not be.

  124. You have to look at the inside.

  125. The Bible says Saul was hiding among the baggage, and he was physically, literally hiding among baggage.

  126. But I believe that this is a prophetic picture about Saul for the rest of his life.

  127. He was always hiding among the baggage.

  128. This brother had baggage, we saw it because when they sang David killed 10,000, Saul 1,000, he got jealous, he was full of envy, he was full of malice, and he came and he attacked David, he threw spears.

  129. Why?

  130. Because he was still hiding among the baggage.

  131. In other words, when they went to look for Saul, they couldn't find him.

  132. The brother was bigger than everybody, but they couldn't find him.

  133. If he's so big, why couldn't they find Saul?

  134. I'll tell you why they couldn't find him because he was buried under the baggage.

  135. And some of you guys just looking for your spouse, and you can't find your spouse because they're buried behind the baggage.

  136. You can't find that courageous man of God because he's buried behind his baggage.

  137. You can't find the wisdom in that woman because she's buried behind the baggage.

  138. Now you can't see their strength and their power and their anointing because they're buried behind the baggage.

  139. All you see is insecurities and regrets and fears because they're buried behind the baggage.

  140. If you don't deal with your baggage, it will bury you.

  141. What you don't deal with will deal with you.

  142. What you don't heal will be revealed.

  143. What you don't get rid of will eventually get rid of the good things that God has brought in your life.

  144. Don't be buried underneath the baggage.

  145. Come on, somebody, can we give God a shout of praise in this place?

  146. So I was buried beneath the baggage.

  147. And many of us we have baggage, we have this junk in the trunk.

  148. And you would ask the question how does somebody get junk in their trunk?

  149. Like, how?

  150. How do you get junk in your trunk?

  151. Who would allow junk in their trunk?

  152. Well, here's what happens it starts off small, but then it gets big.

  153. It starts as a paper, but then it becomes a stack of papers.

  154. It starts um as a couple wrappers, but then it becomes trash everywhere.

  155. And we get junk in our trunk because we don't want to deal with it.

  156. And here's what we think is some of you guys' cars sitting outside right now, like your car is literally like you convicted, because what I'm preaching, because your car is dirty right now.

  157. You know what I'm saying?

  158. See, I'm like, Lord, I'm gonna go watch it today.

  159. I'm just so convicted.

  160. Don't just be convicted about your car and ignore your soul.

  161. I'm just saying.

  162. So the reason why we get junk in our trunk and our cars get dirty is because we feel like if we ignore it, it'll go away.

  163. If we ignore it, it'll go away.

  164. Um the old school would say this.

  165. I remember my mom would tell me this, and mom, if you're watching, I'm gonna correct you right here.

  166. Don't with me though, okay?

  167. She would say, if you was hurt, she would say, time heals all wounds.

  168. Time heals all wounds.

  169. Mama, no, it do not.

  170. Time don't only not heal the wound if you don't address the wound.

  171. Time actually allows the wound to spread infection.

  172. Time don't heal the wound because some of you guys was hurt 10 years ago and you're still bitter.

  173. Some of you guys had your heart broken five years ago and you're still bitter.

  174. Some of you guys just let down two years ago and you're still mad and you're frustrated because time doesn't heal it, word does.

  175. And you got to allow the Holy Spirit to work on you and to purify you and to cleanse you and heal you, and that's what heals the wound, not time, because time can make it worse.

  176. Because guess why your trunk looks so bad?

  177. You gave it too much time without being clean.

  178. See, you ain't cleaned it in three months, and now you got all kind of junk in your trunk, and you got all kind of junk in your soul.

  179. Bitterness in your soul, fear in your soul, worry in your soul, anxiety in your soul, frustration in your soul, unforgiveness in your soul, and you thought if you avoided it, it would go away.

  180. But no, it don't go away because you avoid it, it goes away because you addressed it.

  181. And what happens is this what most of us do is we don't get rid of the junk in the trunk, we just learn to hide it better.

  182. Some of y'all got a tarp over the junk, a blanket over the junk.

  183. So I've seen people lay bags out over the junk.

  184. You didn't get rid of it, you just hid it better.

  185. You organized it in a nice little pal in the corner, but nonetheless, it's still junk.

  186. And it can't be ignored, it must be addressed.

  187. And some of us have got so good at hiding junk, and I want you to know that if you spend half the energy healing the junk that you spend hiding the junk, you will be delivered already.

  188. Go come on, somebody.

  189. So we're not about to hide anymore junk, we're about to heal the junk and allow God to do something amazing in our lives.

  190. We're about to address the junk.

  191. You guys ready?

  192. Let's address the junk.

  193. I'm gonna show you how to address the junk.

  194. Go to Hebrews chapter 12, verse 1.

    Hebrews 12:1

  195. We're gonna learn how to address the junk.

  196. You guys enjoying this so far?

  197. A good deal.

  198. You're convicted, good.

  199. Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witness, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us.

  200. And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

  201. I want to echo uh this part of the verse again.

  202. Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

  203. Now we know to lay aside the sin that ensnares us.

  204. And how do we know that?

  205. Because sin ain't serve nobody.

  206. Sin is always gonna come and do a number on you.

  207. Sin ain't serve nobody, sin ain't help nobody.

  208. We know to get rid of the sin that ensnares us.

  209. So that ain't what I want to focus on today, because that that's just a given, right?

  210. Um, but what I want to address today is the weight.

  211. The Bible says, lay aside the weight.

  212. I believe most marital struggles are because of the weight.

  213. I believe most people are collapsing because of the weight.

  214. I believe most people can't heal because of the weight.

  215. I believe most stress and anxiety is because of the weight.

  216. I believe most depression is because of the weight.

  217. I believe most fear is because of the weight.

  218. I believe most insecurity is because of the weight.

  219. Some of you guys are carrying some heavy stuff, and what happened to you is heavy.

  220. What you went through is heavy, what you endured is heavy, what you didn't have is heavy.

  221. Some of you guys have been emotionally abused, and it's heavy.

  222. Some of you guys have been physically abused, and it's heavy.

  223. Some of you guys have been sexually abused, and it is heavy.

  224. Some of you've been rejected, some of you guys have been left by your parents, some of you guys wasn't served in love, you didn't have people to care about you, people weren't there for you, nobody had your back.

  225. People that were supposed to be there for you were the ones that harmed you and broke you.

  226. You were a child, you deserve to be loved, and they didn't love you the way you should be, and you're carrying heavy things.

  227. And it's not fair, and it's not right.

  228. And some of what you're dealing with is heavy.

  229. People took advantage of you, lied to you, schemed and plotted against you, betrayed you, and bat and stood stabbed you in the back.

  230. It's heavy, and you didn't deserve it.

  231. And a lot of times, the junk in our trunk wasn't even put there by us.

  232. Some of the junk in the trunk was put there by an ex.

  233. Some of the junk in the trunk was put there by an ex-spouse.

  234. Some of the junk in the trunk was put there by a parent, by people that should have loved you, by people that should have served you.

  235. Some of the junk that you're carrying ain't even your junk, it's somebody else's junk.

  236. The Bible says the sins of the third and fourth generation falls down to the children.

  237. Some of the things you're crying about ain't even the trauma you went through, it's what your mama went through.

  238. And now you have all this junk in the trunk.

  239. And I do counseling a lot.

  240. And one of the things that is bizarre to me in counseling is when I'm counseling somebody, I usually ask a question when they're married, I'm like, Do your spouse know about this?

  241. And nine times out of ten, the answer is always no.

  242. It blows my mind the trauma that a spouse has been through and a spouse don't know.

  243. Well, do you know that most of what you guys are fighting about is because of what they've been through?

  244. Because you're not just fighting what you said about her, you're fighting that, you're fighting the fact that her dad said it when she was eight, too.

  245. Wow.

  246. So she didn't just hear what you said, it bounced back to what dad said at eight, and all of a sudden it's burning a hole in her and it's triggering her because you're not just fighting what's happening in the present, you're fighting what happened in the history.

  247. So, so, so, so, so.

  248. We have all kind of stuff.

  249. We carried so much drunk in the trunks.

  250. You're everybody that's dealing with something, it's rooted in something.

  251. Nothing just happened.

  252. No one's just angry, no one's just frustrated, no one's just bitter, no one just lies about anything.

  253. This is rooted in trauma.

  254. And what you got to know about trauma is trauma don't move out, it has to be evicted.

  255. You gotta evict trauma because trauma would stay, trauma would hang on.

  256. I remember I was talking to this woman, she was in her 70s, and I was blown away because I never canceled someone in their 70s before.

  257. Myth 50s, as far as I went at that point, I've counseled everybody now under the sun.

  258. But I couldn't believe that her marriage, her job, and her relationship with her kids was all broken because of what was done to her when she was eight.

  259. And what happened to her was traumatic.

  260. It was unfair and it was evil.

  261. But I just couldn't believe it would linger for 60 some years.

  262. And then I learned that the pain you went through as a child, the rejection you went through as a child, the fear that you endured, it doesn't go away unless you get rid of it.

  263. The junk don't just leave the trunk.

  264. It don't.

  265. Because junk ignored is junk increased.

  266. And it increases over the years.

  267. More is added to it, and then what happens is not only does it increase, everything else you go through agrees with the original junk that was already there.

  268. Wow.

  269. And now all of a sudden, you're married to someone and they keep putting up walls and they keep stonewalling you, and you're like, Man, let me in.

  270. Quit putting up walls, let me in.

  271. Why you keep putting up these walls?

  272. You won't love me right, you won't love me correctly.

  273. You you you feel disengaged, and and and you you you you don't want me to touch you.

  274. And it's like, well, I was inappropriately touched.

  275. And anytime someone touches me, I feel that touch.

  276. And I put up these walls to survive.

  277. I I I put up these walls to survive.

  278. Some of the walls that your spouse or your future spouse are putting up against you is because they built these walls so they can survive and so they can cope and so they can get by.

  279. They built these walls as walls of protection, but here's the problem: in one season the walls protected you, and another season they imprisoned you.

  280. And now we're imprisoned by the walls.

  281. And the danger with the walls is the walls keep the wrong people out, but it won't let the right people in.

  282. The walls keep out the pain, but it also keeps out the pleasure.

  283. The wall keeps out the burden, but it also keeps out the blessing.

  284. The wall keeps out the ability to be let down, but it also takes the ability away to be picked up.

  285. And you gotta lay down the walls, you have to deal with the junk in the trunk.

  286. You have to deal with the weight, and sometimes the weight is so heavy.

  287. But Jesus said, if you're carrying heavy weight, he said you can cast all your cares on him for he cares about you.

  288. Jesus will come carry the weight, he will remove the weight, he will help you remove the junk in the trunk.

  289. Because if you don't heal from what hurt you, you will bleed on those that didn't cut you.

  290. And in a lot of marriages, they're full of blood that didn't originate with the marriage, full of bitterness that didn't originate with the marriage, full of unforgiveness.

  291. You don't trust me leaving because of what he did, and now I'm dealing with what your ex did to you, and I ain't never did that to you.

  292. And now we're we're fighting histories now.

  293. We're we're we're we're we're we're we're fighting ghosts now because we didn't heal.

  294. And hear me, hear me close, because some of you guys have been hurt and you've been abused and you've been mistreated, and it was not fair, so hear me close.

  295. It wasn't your fault.

  296. It wasn't your fault, it was unfair, it was unjust.

  297. What happened to you broke the heart of God?

  298. You should have never gone through that.

  299. It was not your fault.

  300. Even though brokenness was not your fault, healing is your responsibility.

  301. And it sucks that I'm responsible to fix what I didn't bring.

  302. But the problem is if you don't fix it, your spouse will face it.

  303. Because when it was just you a junk in your trunk in school, but now you got junk in your trunk, and you've invited me in as a passenger to the junk in your trunk.

  304. And I want to say this.

  305. Everything that's in your trunk isn't all bad.

  306. Let's get really practical.

  307. Let's break it down.

  308. We're gonna help you this morning.

  309. Let's get real practical.

  310. All the junk isn't bad.

  311. Everything isn't bad because if I go to McDonald's and I get a burger, the Burger wasn't bad, I was hungry.

  312. But why is the rapper selling my trunk two weeks later?

  313. The Starbucks coffee wasn't bad.

  314. But why did I keep the cup?

  315. You got a new radio, great, but why do you still have the box?

  316. You went to Dillard's and got a dress, cool.

  317. Why is the bag still here?

  318. Why do you still have Burger King's receipt and you ate the burger a month ago?

  319. In other words, all oh it ain't all bad.

  320. But here's the issue.

  321. Here's the problem is it's okay to keep the lesson, but you got to get rid of the leftovers.

  322. It's okay to keep the wisdom, but you got to get rid of the wrath.

  323. It's okay to keep the evolution, but you got to let God heal the emotions.

  324. It's okay to take the treasure, but you got to empty the trash.

  325. It's okay to grow from it, but it's not okay to hold a grudge in it.

  326. You have to get rid of the trash.

  327. You have to let it go.

  328. You have to grow through it.

  329. It's okay that God gave you discernment, but why are you still walking with entrapment?

  330. So our job is junk is accumulated when you keep the leftovers of the lessons, when you keep the baggage, when you keep the wrappers, when you keep the labels.

  331. You gotta get rid of you, keep the good, but dump the bad.

  332. Keep the good, but dump the bad, keep the good, but dump the bad.

  333. You gotta get rid of some stuff.

  334. You have junk because you kept it all.

  335. I was hurt, I chose row.

  336. My response should examine what I chose while I was hurt, and then I gotta go to God to heal, and I let wisdom cause me to choose differently as I open myself up to be loved again and trust the Holy Spirit with my heart and trust my new person with my heart.

  337. But the issue with the junk is we like the junk because there's a level of security in the junk.

  338. The reason why we like the junk is this.

  339. See, I got when I was a kid, I can't control anything.

  340. Now I got control issues, and I want to control you because I'm afraid to lose control again.

  341. Because the last time I lost control, I was broken, and because I didn't deal with the brokenness, now I became an abuser and I control everything.

  342. Now you need to let me know where you're at.

  343. Check in every five seconds, text every two minutes, because I can't control it when I was 12, so I'm gonna control everything else for the rest of my life.

  344. See, I grew up and I was belittled, and now every time you say something, I belittle you because I be little now.

  345. And because I be little, I want to make you smaller than me so I can feel big again.

  346. And these are the things we carry, and this is the baggage, and this is the junk in the trunk, and we have to allow the Holy Spirit to heal us because if we don't heal from what hurt us, we'll bleed on those that didn't cut us.

  347. Can I go a little bit deeper?

  348. Can I go a little bit deeper?

  349. So junk accumulates because we didn't deal with it, we didn't process it, we didn't process it.

  350. Every truck has a story, every truck has a story, and you gotta know something.

  351. You gotta know something is this.

  352. You've invited a passenger in, and now this passenger is forced to be exposed to your junk.

  353. They're forced because here's the issue with junk junk always smells.

  354. See, you can try to hide the junk, but after I've been in your car a long time, what's that smell?

  355. Why?

  356. Because junk always carries a stitch.

  357. Hear me?

  358. The smell is there, and the reason why the smell is there because there's junk in the trunk that's been addressed, unaddressed, so there's a stitch, there's a smell.

  359. Junk always carries a smell.

  360. If you got trash, guess what?

  361. It has a smell.

  362. Now you may not smell it no more because you've been smelling it a long time, but everybody else likes like so.

  363. How's your day been?

  364. Good.

  365. Stinking here, and it's normal to you, but it is disgusting to everyone else.

  366. And some of our ways and our attitudes and our frustrations and our anxieties and our gossip and our messiness and our problems is normal to us, but it's disgusting to everyone else around you.

  367. We've been through some things.

  368. Some of us, man, we we we get we we got this junk in our trunk.

  369. Here's another thing, junk dudes.

  370. If you drive if you ride with someone with a lot of junk in their trunk, you guys are riding it's all good.

  371. Boom, you hit a speed bump, boom, everything in the back starts rattling and shaking.

  372. Why?

  373. Because junk always makes noise.

  374. And you can hear the junk.

  375. You can hear it.

  376. Hey, I asked you a question.

  377. Why did you insult me?

  378. I can hear the junk.

  379. Hey, I asked you how you were doing.

  380. I'm good.

  381. Don't ask me that.

  382. I can hear the junk.

  383. I can hear the junk.

  384. Why?

  385. Because it has a smell, and you can always hear the junk.

  386. If you listen to the way someone talks, you can hear the junk.

  387. I've got really good at this.

  388. I can be around somebody for a short amount of time, and I can almost accurately predict what they've been through by the junk I can hear in my ears.

  389. Yeah, see, you don't never trust nobody because you know you can't trust nobody.

  390. Oh, junk.

  391. Well, see, you can't really fooly, like, you know, you can't you can't fooly be good to a woman.

  392. You be too good to a woman, she's gonna take advantage.

  393. No, your ex took advantage, and now you've made an ideology and a philosophy over a situation you have with a broken person.

  394. I can hear the junk.

  395. And then lastly, the danger of having junk in the trunk is this it takes up space.

  396. It takes up space and it adds weight.

  397. It takes up space and it adds weight because of the junk in the trunk.

  398. We can't add new stuff now.

  399. We can't go grocery shopping.

  400. Why?

  401. We ain't got no space in the trunk.

  402. We can't go buy nothing new.

  403. Why?

  404. We ain't got no space in the trunk, and you can't bring new things to your marriage because it's full of old things and dead things and junky things and trashy things.

  405. You gotta take out the trash so you can bring in the treasure.

  406. You gotta get the junk out the trunk.

  407. Clean out the junk, clean out the junk.

  408. When you start to process this and get the junk out the trunk, all of a sudden you can start putting beautiful, amazing things in the trunk.

  409. You gotta get the junk out the trunk, and you can't hide it.

  410. Junk will always be exposed because you can smell it, you can hear it, and it takes uh space.

  411. I want to show you something else.

  412. Hebrews 12, verse 15.

    Hebrews 12:15

  413. It says, looking carefully, least anyone falls short of the grace of God, least any root of bitterness springs up, springing up cause trouble.

  414. And by this many become defouled.

  415. Looking carefully, least anyone falls short of the grace of God, at least any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defouled.

  416. Here's what the Bible is saying here.

  417. It's saying, hey, be careful that a root of bitterness don't spring up on you.

  418. And what do we get a root of bitterness from?

  419. A root of bitterness comes from seeds of trauma.

  420. A root of bitterness comes from seeds of trauma.

  421. And what happens is we go to trauma and there are seeds.

  422. And when you leave those seeds of trauma, those seeds go underground.

  423. And it looks okay, okay, that's old, okay.

  424. I'm past that, okay.

  425. I'm over that.

  426. That's the past, it's done with, it's been handled, but all the while, underneath, there's a root system that's forming underneath the ground.

  427. There's a root system that's under the ground, and then it begins to spring up, and that root of bitterness begins to spring up, and all of a sudden, there's fruit of bitterness because there was root of bitterness, and there's root of bitterness because there were seeds of bitterness, and if you don't deal with the seed, it's gonna become fruit on the tree of bitterness.

  428. You have to deal with it.

  429. If you don't deal with what hurt you, it'll bleed on those that didn't cut you.

  430. And then the Bible says this.

  431. I want to show you what it said about it.

  432. It says, by this, many become defiled.

  433. See, the issue with your root of bitterness, it don't just defile you, it defiles everyone else around you.

  434. Many become defiled because you didn't deal with your root, many become defiled because you didn't deal with your trauma.

  435. Many become defiled because you didn't deal with your drama.

  436. Many become defiled because you didn't deal with your daddy issues and your mama issues and your ex issues, and now everyone around you gets defiled because you didn't heal from what hurt you.

  437. You have to deal with at least a root of bitterness springs up.

  438. Many become defiled.

  439. You have to deal with it because guess what?

  440. Your spouse is a passenger in your vehicle, and what was once your trash is now y'all's trash.

  441. Am I saying that trash is a red flag?

  442. Sure.

  443. Am I saying you can't be with someone that that has junk in the trunk?

  444. No, you can be with someone.

  445. Junk in the trunk isn't a deal breaker unless someone is unwilling to deal with the junk in the trunk.

  446. Now, if you're married, it ain't they junk, it's y'all junk now.

  447. Okay?

  448. So nobody like, yeah, he got junk, she got baggage.

  449. No, y'all got junk, and y'all got baggage, that's your trunk too.

  450. And you gotta start processing and you gotta start dealing with the junk inside the trunk.

  451. You gotta let the Holy Spirit do it.

  452. You have to let him do the work.

  453. You have to let him do the healing, you have to let him do the purifying.

  454. You have to allow him to make whole.

  455. Some of you guys got junk.

  456. You have to take a moment and breathe.

  457. And acknowledge that.

  458. Man, I do got junk.

  459. I do got things I need to heal.

  460. I do got I got frustrations and I got bitternesses, and I got I got some things that's a little toxic in me.

  461. You know what I'm saying?

  462. I like if the relationship is going too good, I'm gonna just throw some drama in there just to entertain myself.

  463. I'm a little toxic, yeah.

  464. You know, some of y'all are like, bro, we good.

  465. It's like, well, let me like, you know what I'm saying?

  466. Why?

  467. Because I've been in toxivity so long, I can't function without it.

  468. We have this junk in the hour of drama.

  469. And now we all of a sudden, you're looking at somebody you're married to, and you think this is who they are.

  470. It's not who they are, it's who they've become to cope with what they went through.

  471. I don't want to see you only through your scars.

  472. I want to see you through the person the savior created you to be.

  473. I want to see the woman God made.

  474. I want to see the man God made.

  475. Because here's the deal.

  476. You're like, yeah, my spouse just has no emotion.

  477. Human beings wasn't created without emotion.

  478. Your spouse lost their emotion because of something traumatic, and we have to go get their emotion back.

  479. Your wife isn't just disengaged, she lost her zeal and her passion, and now we have to get her zeal and her passion back.

  480. We gotta figure out what happened, and we gotta start having honest conversations.

  481. And sometimes we gotta get help.

  482. Sometimes you got junk in your trunk so bad you can't even deal with it yourself.

  483. Sometimes you gotta go to the detail shop.

  484. It didn't got so bad you look at there, you're like, mm-hmm, I ain't got time.

  485. I ain't got time.

  486. You gotta go to the detail and you gotta let someone walk with you through your junk because this ain't got so bad and so smelly.

  487. Now it's not just taking out the trash, there's shampooing that needs to be done, there's mind renewal that needs to be done, there's a new perspective that I need to get.

  488. I can't fix this on my own.

  489. I gotta go to the detail shop.

  490. And the Holy Spirit is the detail shop.

  491. He'll help you deal with your junk, he'll help you clean up the mess, he'll help you renew your mind.

  492. And sometimes I need a counselor or a therapist or a pastor, somebody to help me clean up my mess.

  493. Because it's been here so long, we threw out the trash, but the smell is still here.

  494. It's been here so long, we can't get it out the rugs no more.

  495. I need help cleaning the junk in my trunk.

  496. I've been an insecure boy so long that I don't know my identity, so I gotta prove myself every second.

  497. I have to deal with the junk in my trunk.

  498. I have to deal with it.

  499. I have to process it.

  500. I have to heal from it.

  501. I have to get serious about the junk in my trunk.

  502. And I have to be willing to face the junk in my trunk.

  503. So I'm gonna get ready now to face the junk in my trunk.

  504. You have your Bibles.

  505. Go to Psalms 139, verse 23, and it says, Search me, oh Lord, and know, you can bring it a little closer this way.

    Psalms 139:23

  506. Search me, oh Lord, and know my heart.

  507. Try me and know my anxieties, and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

  508. He said, Search me, oh Lord, know my heart, try me and know my anxieties, and see if there's any wicked way in me and lead me into the way everlasting.

  509. Here's what he didn't say.

  510. He didn't say, Search my spouse, oh Lord.

  511. Search the people that hurt me, oh Lord.

  512. Search my parents, oh Lord.

  513. He said, Search me, oh Lord.

  514. How many of you guys have gone to the Lord and said, Search me, oh Lord?

  515. I want you to look inside of me.

  516. I want you to pop me open, Lord.

  517. I want you to search me.

  518. We don't have to be afraid to be searched, we don't have to be afraid because you want to know the reason why most people have junk in their trunk.

  519. You don't want to deal with the junk, you want to ignore it, hoping it's gonna go away, but it don't go away, it just increases.

  520. You have to be willing to open the trunk.

  521. You gotta pop the trunk open.

  522. Search me, oh Lord.

  523. Come look inside of me.

  524. Come searching.

  525. I'm opening up, I'm not hiding this no more.

  526. I'm not running from this no more, I'm not burying this no more.

  527. I'm not gonna be hiding behind the baggage no more.

  528. Search me, oh Lord, open up my trunk and come examine my junk.

  529. Let's get real with this, let's quit being fake with this.

  530. Search me, oh Lord.

  531. In other words, God, I give you permission to open up my trunk.

  532. Open it up, Lord.

  533. Open it up, and all of a sudden we see all kind of junk in the trunk.

  534. And we gotta say, Lord, open it up, search me, examine me, and I have to get in here and I have to look and say, Why do I like playing games with people?

  535. What do I get out of this?

  536. Why do I do this?

  537. Who played me so bad that now I become a player?

  538. Who done this to me?

  539. And I gotta examine what happened in me to make me this way.

  540. I gotta examine this at the come and say, Well, why do I twist everything?

  541. And why do I lie so much and why am I so toxic?

  542. And they might not know I'm lying because I'm a real good liar, but why do I lie about everything and twist up everything and I'm toxic and I'm manipulative?

  543. Why am I that way?

  544. And you got to begin to unravel this and say, I don't want to be this way no more.

  545. And even if people don't know, God knows.

  546. God knows what's happening because here's the by here's the thing the Bible said when Saul was hiding behind the baggage, the people couldn't find him.

  547. A lot of times you hide behind this baggage, and guess what?

  548. People don't know.

  549. But then they asked the Lord, and the Lord said he's hiding behind the baggage.

  550. Why?

  551. Because God knows where you are, and he knows where you're hiding.

  552. So you can lie to all of us, but you can't lie to God, and he knows you're a liar, and it's okay because you got to begin to examine this, and now you got to start coming to unpack all of these things.

  553. Why am I this way?

  554. Why do I get so mad and angry?

  555. And why do I punch things and hit things?

  556. Why can't I control my anger?

  557. Why am I so hot-headed and I'm not tempered?

  558. What is going on with me?

  559. Why do I got such a fly mouth?

  560. And anytime someone tries to correct me, I gotta be so arrogant and prideful, I gotta know everything, I gotta be the smartest person in the room.

  561. Why?

  562. Because internally I feel like I'm dumb, so I gotta prove to you I'm smart.

  563. And now I have to go through all of this and I have to start going through all this.

  564. What happened?

  565. Who hurt me?

  566. Why did they hurt me like this?

  567. What happened?

  568. And I have to sit down and I gotta wrestle with it, and I may take a while.

  569. Lord, I was hurt and I was broken, and it wasn't fair.

  570. And God is saying this to you.

  571. God is saying, Hey, I want to tell you this, son.

  572. I'm gonna tell you this, daughter.

  573. You may have all this junk in the trauma, but you're not junk.

  574. You may have all this brokenness, but God can make you whole.

  575. You're not what you've been through.

  576. So you just gotta start coming and processing this.

  577. Why do I like hurting people?

  578. Why do I like hurting people?

  579. What what why does it feel good when I hurt them?

  580. Because I feel like it felt good when they hurt me.

  581. And now I start dealing with all this junk in the trunk, and I start being honest, and I call it for what it is.

  582. I name it, and I'm like, this is what it is.

  583. This is bitterness, this is fear, this is worry, this is frustration.

  584. And I name this junk, and then I go to the Holy Spirit and I say, Lord Jesus.

  585. I don't want this junk.

  586. I don't want the way, I don't want the resentment, the entrapment, the bitterness.

  587. I don't want to be this way no more.

  588. I don't want to be toxic to my spouse.

  589. I don't want to be toxic to my future marriage.

  590. I don't want to be mean to my kids.

  591. I don't want to put this on my kids because sometimes I'm fighting something that my parents did to me, and now I'm putting this on my kids.

  592. I don't want it to be like this.

  593. I want the chain to break now.

  594. I want it to stop now.

  595. This may have rain in my family.

  596. Oh, but the chain breaks when it runs into me.

  597. Search me, oh Lord, examine me.

  598. And now I'm naming these issues.

  599. I'm not afraid.

  600. I'm coming out of hiding.

  601. I'm not hiding amongst the baggage, I'm cleaning it out.

  602. I'm getting the junk out the trunk.

  603. And all of a sudden, when you come to King Jesus and you say, Lord Jesus, I don't want this junk in my trunk.

  604. Jesus comes and Jesus said, Hey, you can cast it all on me because I care about you.

  605. You can take your junk to Jesus, and taking your junk to Jesus is how you get your junk out the trunk, and you're like, I don't want to deal with fear no more.

  606. And we're gonna start cleaning out this, we're gonna start cleaning it out.

  607. We're gonna get this junk out the trunk.

  608. I don't want to deal with fear no more.

  609. I don't want to deal with bitterness no more.

  610. Man, I'm breaking the chain.

  611. I'm not gonna lie and twist things.

  612. I'm gonna be honest and deal with the consequences of my honesty.

  613. Man, I'm getting rid of this fear, I'm getting rid of this junk.

  614. I don't want this junk in the trunk no more.

  615. I'm picking up the trash, I'm taking it out.

  616. It may get ugly, it may fall down.

  617. Oh, but I'm taking it out.

  618. I'm getting rid of this junk in the trunk.

  619. I'm processing it, I'm handling it.

  620. All this junk has to go.

  621. I'm getting rid of the junk in the trunk.

  622. And when you do this, God can heal you, God can restore you, God can make you whole, God can break the chains, God can clean out your trunk, God can take away the weight, God can take away the pain, God can remove the stings, God can remove the aches, God can restore the marriage, God can restore your mind, God can restore your heart, I'm getting rid of this shock in the trunk, I wanna live like this, I wanna be like this, who gonna summons that is funny, it's truly free indeed.

  623. I'm clear come on, somebody give me the punishment in this place.

  624. Somebody said it's free, I'm getting delivered, I'm getting the hole, I'm getting the jump out of my trunk in the name of Jesus.

  625. Every chain should be broken, every yoke should be broken, somebody has to bow out his name.

  626. Some cells are being broken up of my life, spells are being broken up for my life, witchcraft they spoke of me is being broken up of my life.

  627. I'm breaking the chains in the name of Jesus.

  628. I'm getting this junk out my trunk.

  629. Don't have to live like this.

  630. My marriage don't have to endure this.

  631. My kids don't have to repeat these cycles.

  632. I don't have to carry these chains no more.

  633. I don't have to carry these lies no more.

  634. I'm cleaning out my junk.

  635. I'm being open, I'm being honest.

  636. And here's when we know we need to do this.

  637. Some of you guys, right now, when you think of marriage, you get a little scared because you're like, I don't know if I want someone to fully see in me like that.

  638. And what we fear is intimacy.

  639. And we fear intimacy because intimacy means into me see.

  640. And I'm scared to let someone see in me because there's junk in me.

  641. And I don't want you to see it, I want to hide it and conceal it.

  642. And now I'm saying, no, no, no, no, no.

  643. I'm not gonna live in this space where I'm scared I'll be figured out.

  644. I'm scared, what if they really see it?

  645. What if they know me?

  646. What if they leave me?

  647. No, no.

  648. I'm gonna be honest.

  649. Here's my junk.

  650. And I'm not hiding, I am healing, I'm not hiding amongst the baggage because Saul was called to be a powerful king, he was supposed to reign for a thousand generations.

  651. There was never supposed to be David getting the crown and Solomon getting the crown.

  652. That was Saul's birthright.

  653. But because he couldn't deal with the baggage, because he wouldn't take out the trash, God had to take him out of office.

  654. You can remove the junk, or God may have to remove the blessings he sent before you because of the junk.

  655. Saul had time.

  656. He had time to deal with this, but eventually, what's in the trunk?

  657. And what was concealed?

  658. Deal with your job.

  659. Wow, what a powerful message.

  660. We hope to bless you.

  661. Make sure to share with your friends, your family members, and your co workers so that they can be blessed as well.
