Amen.
-
And so we're going to get into the word.
-
So just hold your Bibles up and just make this confession with me.
-
Father God, thank you for the word.
-
Thank you, Father, that your word shows me everything that I need to be successful in this life and victorious.
-
And I thank you, Father, that because I am not just a hearer, but a doer of your word that I have victory on every front.
-
In Jesus' name.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
Praise God.
-
Praise God.
-
Can I give you this?
-
Actually, I don't think I'm going to need it.
-
In the minute I say I'm going to need it.
-
Wow.
-
Well, praise the mighty name of the Lord.
-
Hallelujah.
-
How many of you know that it's harvest time and God's about to do some things on the earth that we hadn't seen yet?
-
Anybody waking up every day with great anticipation?
-
You know, when you get up in the morning, all of hell's alarms should go off in hell because your feet just hit the floor and the devil and his demon forces should be on higher alert.
-
Can you imagine what happens in hell when you wake up in the morning and your eyes pop open and you are aware that you are awake, full of the Holy Ghost?
-
Can you imagine eh?
-
They're up, they're up, they're up, they're up.
-
I get great joy in that.
-
I get great joy in that.
-
Amen.
-
That's the kind of power you have.
-
And so tonight I want to talk to you a little bit about some things that have been near and dear to my heart.
-
Last week, Pastor James taught a message, and if you did, if you were not here and you did not get to hear the message, I really encourage you to go back and listen to the to the media of that message.
-
The message title was Watch, Pray, and Obey.
-
And the purpose of the message was getting caught doing your job.
-
In other words, when when the Lord returns, will he find you busy doing what he's called you to do?
-
Let me ask that again.
-
When the Lord returns, will he find you busy doing what he's called you to do?
-
And as I begin to meditate on that this week and even uh over the weekend and begin to think about and pray about what I was going to share, I begin to realize a couple of things.
-
First of all, you are here at this appointed time, not by happenstance.
-
You've been called into the kingdom for such a time as this.
-
Now think about this.
-
You could have already been here and gone.
-
Can I say that again?
-
You could have already been here and gone, but God called you and appointed your time on the earth at this time, in the last days.
-
Somebody just missed an opportunity to get excited.
-
Because we're gonna see things, folks, that we've never seen before.
-
We're gonna see a move of God like we've not ever seen before.
-
But your purpose here is not just to be here as a spectator or an observer.
-
Your purpose is strategic.
-
Did you know that?
-
Did you know that your existence right now in this time, in this hour, is strategic?
-
Why do you say that?
-
Well, first of all, in Jeremiah chapter 1 and 5, when uh when the Lord was speaking to the prophet Jeremiah, he said, Before you were while you were being formed in your mother's womb, I knew you.
Jeremiah 1 chapter mention
-
I called you, I chose you, I picked you.
-
And then, of course, in Jeremiah chapter 29 and 11, I like the New Living translation of it, where it says, for I know the plans.
Jeremiah 29 chapter mention
-
I like that word plans.
-
Plans means strategies, ideas.
-
For I know the plans that I have for you.
-
They're good.
-
They're plans for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.
-
In other words, your existence right now is not just an existence, but it's strategic.
-
In other words, your existence is so significant and so strategic that I want to share some things with you tonight to help you be successful in fulfilling the plan and the call of God on your life.
-
And so tonight's message, if you're taking notes, the message titles Living a Strategic Life-on Purpose.
-
When the Lord returns, will he find you living a strategic life on purpose?
-
That's my prayer.
-
When I stand before the Lord, I don't want to hear him have him say anything to me other than well done, thou good and faithful servant.
-
In other words, you did what I called you to do.
-
You completed what I've called.
-
Paul said, I've run my race, I've finished my course.
-
And before me is a prize.
-
And so we're gonna look at living a life, living a strategic life on purpose.
-
Now, a few years ago, there was an author that wrote a book, Rick Warren, called The Purpose-Driven Life.
-
How many of you remember that book?
-
I mean, it was a book, it was a workbook, it was a study, it was all kinds of stuff.
-
But that hasn't changed.
-
You have a purpose.
-
And that purpose should drive you every day when you get out of bed to advance the kingdom of God.
-
That purpose will cause you to pray, Lord, show me who I'm supposed to connect with today.
-
Lord, put me in the path of the person that you want me to share your gospel with today.
-
Lord, tell me who I'm supposed to pray with today.
-
And that purpose will drive you not to not to miss those opportunities.
-
I shared this a while back where I used to, when I would run into somebody and I would say, Hey, how's it going, or whatever, and they'd say, Oh, I'm having a hard time, I'm doing that, and I'd say, I'd pray for you.
-
I stopped that.
-
Now it's let's pray right now.
-
That's living strategic.
-
That's living life on purpose.
-
And so tonight we're gonna look at the life of Joseph and how he lived a strategic life on purpose.
-
You all know the story of Joseph, how at the age of 17 uh he had a dream, and uh he had got children that dream a couple of times.
-
He shared it with his brother, shared it with his parents.
-
Nobody was liking it.
-
His brothers disliked it so much.
-
Well, we're gonna get into that tonight.
-
And so tonight I want to give you some nuggets on living a strategic life on purpose.
-
So turn with me, if you will, in your Bibles to Genesis chapter 37, and we're gonna go through uh several chapters in Genesis that deal with the life of Joseph.
Genesis 37 chapter mention
-
I'm not gonna read every chapter, but I'm gonna point out some things to you that were important.
-
So we will start with Genesis chapter 37, we'll start with verse 1 in chapter 37, and then we'll go ahead and pick up some things.
Genesis 37 chapter mention
-
In verse 1, now Jacob dwelt in the land where his father was a stranger in the land of Canaan, and this is the history of Jacob, and so we know all of that.
-
Joseph, being 17 years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers, and the lad was with the sons of Bilah and the sons of Ziplah, his father's wives, and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father.
-
And so we know he didn't get off, he didn't start off on a good foot because he went and told on his brothers.
-
He throwed them under the bus.
-
Verse 3.
-
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children because he was a son of his old age.
-
Also, he made him a tunic of many colors.
-
Now we all know the story.
-
He was his favorite.
-
I used to chuckle at my kids because I have one daughter and one son, and my daughter would call me and say, Well, Dad, you know I'm your favorite daughter, and I have to remind her, Rachel, you're my only daughter.
-
And then my son would get in and say, Well, Dad, you know I'm your favorite son, you're my only son.
-
You're both my favorites.
-
Well, did you know that you're God's favorite?
-
Tell your neighbor, you're God, I'm God's favorite.
-
But so are you.
-
That's right.
-
We are all God's favorites.
-
Verse 4, but when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably with him.
-
So here's the first point I want to make.
-
When you have a strategic life, when you've been called to live a life strategically on purpose, your strategic purpose comes with haters.
-
Say it this way: Haler's gonna hate.
-
Haler's gonna hate, but God is great.
-
Amen.
-
Your strategic purpose is gonna come with haters.
-
You might as well get used to that.
-
Might as well get over it.
-
Don't let it paralyze you, don't let it stop you, don't let it slow you down.
-
That just comes with it.
-
Haters gonna hate.
-
Now Joseph had a dream, verse five.
-
And he told it to his brothers, and they hated him even more.
-
And so he goes into verse 5, verse 6 through verse 9, telling them about the dream of how they basically bowed down to him.
-
How he was superior, how he was superior, and basically they were inferior.
-
I'm I'm I'm paraphrasing here.
-
And it didn't go over well with his brothers.
-
Now, a couple of things I want to point out here.
-
First of all, we see that the strategic purpose for Joseph's life was revealed to him in a dream, not once but twice in verse 5 and verse 9.
-
And so he took it upon himself to share that dream with his brothers, and then ultimately his father.
-
So here's something we can learn from that.
-
If we're gonna live our strategic life on purpose, the first thing you need to understand is not everyone's gonna agree with or like your strategic purpose.
-
So, since you know that not everyone's gonna agree with or like your strategic purpose, then you need to make sure that you use wisdom in whom you share what God has called you to do.
-
Instead of telling it, cover it in prayer.
-
You don't need to self-promote, you need to know when to keep your mouth shut.
-
Can I say that again?
-
I said it with a smile on my face.
-
It's not about self-promoting, but it is about using wisdom and knowing when to speak and when to shut up.
-
Now, we know Joseph was 17, he was maybe a little immature, maybe that was burning in his heart.
-
I believe, though, he had a I believe he understood of what was really happening.
-
I believe he understood that God had called him to do something special.
-
God has called you to do something special.
-
Well, Pastor Joseph, I'm a grandmother.
-
That's alright.
-
Grandmothers can witness and bring and win the loss.
-
Can I say that again?
-
Grandmothers can witness and win the loss.
-
You can do something to advance the kingdom of God.
-
So we see in verse 12 that his brothers went to feed the father's flock.
-
It's him, and so we found out that his father said, Hey, go check on your brothers and come back and tell me if they're working or if they're loafing.
-
See, Jacob knew that he could trust his son, his favorite son, to always be square with him, to tell the truth.
-
And so who did he send to check out with check check on the brothers?
-
So he sent Joseph, and so when Joseph goes out and he's afar off, verse 18, now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near, they conspired against him to kill him.
-
So here's another nugget: Satan has his own strategic plan to stop God's strategic plan for and in your life.
-
Remember, I said haters going to hate?
-
He has a plan.
-
And they said to one another in verse 19, look, this dreamer is coming.
-
Come, therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit, and we shall say, some wild beast has devoured him.
-
He's got a plan, including a lie, how to cover it up.
-
And we shall see what becomes of his dream.
-
The minute you start talking about what God's called you to do or what you're going to do, that's exactly what the devil says.
-
We'll see.
-
We'll see about that.
-
We'll see about that.
-
But Reuben heard it.
-
Verse 23.
-
Reuben heard it and he delivered him out of their hands and said, Let us not kill him.
-
Say way of escape.
-
There's a nugget.
-
When God has called you to a strategic purpose, there is always a way of escape.
-
There's always protection that comes with that.
-
1 Corinthians 10 13 says, No temptation is overtaking you except such as common demand, but God is faithful.
-
Aren't you glad God is faithful?
-
He's faithful to bring you out, he's faithful to protect you, he's faithful to provide a way of escape.
-
That's just how significant the call of God and the plan of God and the purpose of God is for your life, that God has already built in a way of escape.
-
It doesn't matter how the attack comes, God's got a way of escape.
-
If it's physical, if it's financial, if it's relational, whatever the enemy throws at you, there's a way of escape.
-
And so we go on and we find out that Reuben said, don't kill him.
-
We're gonna put him in this pit.
-
They put him in the pit, took the tunic, smeared it in some blood of an animal, took it to the father, and said, A wild animal ate him up.
-
But they dropped him in the pit, and so they pulled him out of the pit unbeknownst to Reuben and sold him to some Mindanites that were on their way to Egypt.
-
And the Mindanites sold him to Potiphar, who was an officer of Pharaoh and the captain of the guard.
-
Now here's the other point that I want to point out to you.
-
Starting in chapter 39, it says, verse 1, now Joseph was taken down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard of an Egyptian, brought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there.
-
Here's a point.
-
God's strategic purpose may take you to places or down paths that you didn't plan to go.
-
You ever get busy for the kingdom of God doing something, and the enemy shows up with an attack and you step back and say, wait a minute, Lord, we need to talk.
-
We didn't talk about hazard pain.
-
We're gonna have to have a conversation about this.
-
But just recognize that the strategic purpose of your life, the strategic plan that God has for you, may take you down a path or to a place that you hadn't planned to go.
-
I just said this way: if I didn't buy a ticket for the trip, I'm not getting on the bus.
-
But it may not be a bus ride.
-
Just go with it.
-
Remember, he's got a way of escape.
-
And sometimes the vision, although it may be crystal clear to you, and you have it figured out and think about, how many of you have always gotten a word from God and God's gonna do it this way?
-
Anyone like that?
-
God's gonna use me and he's gonna use me this way.
-
And God laughs.
-
He's like, he's got jokes.
-
This way.
-
And God says, watch this.
-
Just go with him.
-
Trust him.
-
If we trust him, then we can go with him.
-
Even to the hard places, even through the difficult times.
-
Jesus even said, in this life you will have tests, trials, temptations, trouble, disappointment, heartache.
-
Have to ride the struggle bus every now and then.
-
But he didn't stop there.
-
He could have said, in this life you will.
-
But he didn't stop there.
-
He said, but be of good cheer.
-
And so we need to understand that during the because of our strategic purpose, when we find ourselves dealing with one of those in this life moments, we need to not focus on in this life part, but we need to focus on the be of good cheer part.
-
Come on, somebody missed an opportunity to shout right there.
-
Not on the in this life part, because that's not how the story ends, that's not how the word ends.
-
In this life, you're gonna have tests.
-
He said, but be of good cheer.
-
So I've overcome it.
-
And so that's why our focus needs to be on the be of good cheer part, for I've overcome the world.
-
So God's strategic purpose for your life may take you places or down paths that you didn't go, that you hadn't planned to go.
-
Now it's real interesting that where Joseph ended up after being sold a potipper, that it didn't take long.
-
Well, first of all, it says that the Lord was with him.
-
I know this.
-
And I know sometimes I've been in those places where it didn't seem like God was with me in those hard places, but he was.
-
Maybe I didn't see him at the moment, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there.
-
Anybody else know what I'm talking about?
-
Don't be looking at me like I don't know what you've been doing.
-
But he was there.
-
He was with Joseph in slavery.
-
Now, isn't it interesting that God chose that path for him to go to actually bring the fulfillment of the dream?
-
Interesting.
-
And so we see that God was with him.
-
He was made, uh, and from that time he was made an overseer of Potiphar's house, and he had, and everything that he touched, he had the midas touch.
-
Everything he touched turned to gold.
-
He had it so good in slavery that Polyphar never worried about anything under Joseph's care.
-
Now you think, okay, so this is not started out as a bad thing, but now it seems like it's a good thing, because it's in a good place.
-
God was with Joseph, he's with you.
-
You have a helper.
-
When Jesus returned to the Father, he said, I'm not gonna leave you helpless.
-
Isn't that what he said?
-
He said, wait for the promise.
-
What was the promise?
-
The Holy Ghost.
-
Joseph had favor?
-
You have favor.
-
I speak that all the time.
-
Father, I thank you that with favor you've surrounded me with it like a shield.
-
Joseph was surrounded with favor even in slavery, like a shield.
-
Joseph was promoted in slavery.
-
Now think about that for a moment.
-
In the most obscure places, he was promoted.
-
Now I imagine he's thinking, okay, so I didn't really think that this is what the dream meant or what God meant when he showed me this, but here I am, so I'm just gonna go with it.
-
So know that your promotion, here's another point.
-
Know that your promotion will come in what seems like difficult or odd places.
-
Remember that song, Sometimes Miracles Hide?
-
Anyone remember that song?
-
Sometimes promotions hide, they come disguised in different things, in different ways, in different places.
-
Verse 6, the last part of verse 6, it talks about now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.
-
And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast long eyes on Joseph, and she said, Lie with me.
-
Here's another point.
-
Your strategic purpose will attract what you don't want.
-
Can I say that again?
-
Your strategic purpose, because of the significance of it, because of the importance of it, will attract what you don't want.
-
She's looking at them, oh I see there.
-
Young thing.
-
He wasn't even thinking about that.
-
He's doing his job.
-
Your strategic purpose will track what you don't want.
-
John 10 10 says, for the thief roams about as a roaring lion, seeking whom?
-
Shaking the doorknobs, checking the windows to see if it's unlocked, looking for an entrance port.
-
The thief walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
-
1 Peter 5 8, you know it.
-
Be sober, be vigilant for that for the enemy.
-
The devil.
-
One translation says, the devil, that enemy of yours, walks about as a roaring lion, seeking.
-
Who?
-
He may devour.
-
John 10 10.
-
I totally got that wrong.
-
I mix John 10 10 with for the thief comes but to steal, to kill, and to destroy.
-
Jesus said, But I've come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.
-
And so know that your strategic purpose will attract what you don't want, and the purpose of the attraction is to bring about distractions and disruptions.
-
You're called to do something, and your focus is like this.
-
Your strategic purpose is like this.
-
And the disruptions and the distractions are like this.
-
To get you off track, to get you off focus.
-
But I love it because in verse 8, we see, but he refused and said to his master's wife, Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he's committed all that he has to my hand.
-
There is no greater one in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you.
-
Can't touch that.
-
You can't touch that.
-
That's right.
-
Because you are his wife.
-
How then can I do this great wickedness of sin against God?
-
He wasn't even concerned about sinning against Potiphar.
-
He was concerned about sinning against God.
-
He understood the importance of his strategic purpose.
-
He understood the importance of living a strategic life on purpose.
-
How can I do this and sin against God?
-
Not Potiphar, against God.
-
That's very telling, isn't it?
-
Your strategic purpose requires, here's a couple of points.
-
Your strategic purpose requires that you must.
-
Can I say must again?
-
You must pass the integrity test.
-
Oh should I say that again?
-
I'll try smiling this time.
-
Your strategic purpose is so significant and so important that you must.
-
It's not optional.
-
It is a requirement that you pass the integrity test.
-
Okay, so since I've thrown that rocket, I might as well throw a few more.
-
Not only do you have to pass the integrity test, you have to pass the money test.
-
Okay, I'd stop preaching and I'm meddling.
-
I admit it.
-
Oh, wait a minute.
-
Okay, oh, this is real good.
-
Okay, y'all hold on, buckle up.
-
Here we come.
-
You gotta pass the integrity test.
-
You gotta pass the money test.
-
You gotta pass the love test.
-
Wait a minute, Pastor Joseph.
-
What's love got to do with it?
-
Everything.
-
It is not a secondhand emotion.
-
I don't know what Tina was talking about, but it's not that.
-
Your purpose is so important.
-
It's so strategic.
-
God is so counting on you.
-
Think about what was ahead of Joseph, and I won't get ahead of myself.
-
But think about what was ahead of him.
-
Think about how many times that could have been derailed right there.
-
And his response was, no, I'm not worried about offending or offending Potiphar.
-
I'm worried about offending God.
-
Folks, there comes a time.
-
Now is a time that we got to be more concerned about offending God and not man.
-
Well, what is man gonna think?
-
I don't care what man is gonna think, but I do care what God thinks.
-
Your strategic purpose requires that you must pass the integrity test, the money test, the love test, or any other test.
-
Now that test may be your mouth.
-
Pass the test.
-
Pass the test.
-
Now, let me give you some some some extra help there with that.
-
First of all, God has already given you all the answers to pass the test.
-
Did you know that every test that he gives or every test that he allows us to take is open book?
-
Open the book.
-
Open the book.
-
It's open book.
-
Now, if you don't pass it the first time, there's grace, he'll let you take it again.
-
And he'll let you take it again.
-
He'll let you take it again.
-
And again.
-
And again.
-
Until you're dizzy from going around that mountain.
-
Okay.
-
But listen, folks, we ain't got time for all of that.
-
Pass the test.
-
Pass the test.
-
Amen.
-
Pass the test.
-
So it was that she spoke to Joseph, verse 10, day by day, that he did not heed her to lie with her or to be with her.
-
Listen, the devil does not quit.
-
He does not.
-
Now there's a couple of things you can learn from the devil.
-
First of all, he doesn't quit.
-
The other thing you can learn from him is he's a liar and a thief.
-
And he hangs with some really bad people.
-
If he doesn't quit, you don't quit.
-
Day by day, looking for the opportunity to wear you down, looking for the opportunity to slip you up and to trip you up.
-
Looking for the opportunity to get you to say the wrong thing with your mouth.
-
More blessings have been canceled by.
-
Or in the power of the tongue.
-
Watch your words.
-
So it went on, verse 11, but it happened about this time when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men were in the house were inside.
-
That she caught him by his garment, said, Lie with me.
-
But he left his garment in her hand and fled and ran outside.
-
Stay alert.
-
Don't be where you ain't supposed to be.
-
Don't do what you're not supposed to do.
-
Your mission is too critical.
-
The hour is too late.
-
Eternity is too long.
-
And hell is too hot.
-
And I don't know about you, but I'm not planning to go to the smoking section.
-
I'm not planning on that.
-
Stay alert.
-
So you know the story.
-
He ran out, left his tunic.
-
She screams, rape, rape, rape, you know.
-
The guards run in, Potiphar gets home, what's happening.
-
Here's my take on this.
-
I think Potiphar knew his wife was lying.
-
At least that's what it looked like in the movie.
-
You see the movie where she she she screams what he did, and Polypher looking like, uh-huh, I know you.
-
The devil is a liar.
-
And he will lie.
-
And he doesn't care who he lies on or who he lies to, as long as the lie works.
-
He's a liar.
-
And there's no truth in him.
-
So we see that Joseph's up for another promotion.
-
I don't know about you, but this is not my idea for promotion.
-
But the promotion came through a lie.
-
All things work together for the good of them that love the Lord, that are called according to his purpose.
-
Isn't that what the word says?
-
Isn't that what the word says?
-
Okay, so his promotion, which it didn't seem like it was good, but it was gonna work for his good.
-
Why?
-
Because he went to jail.
-
Now, I'm gonna be the first one to tell you the math ain't math in there.
-
He gets accused of basically sexual assault, and he goes to jail.
-
But that was a promotion.
-
That was one step closer to fulfilling the strategic plan and purpose that God had called him to.
-
Now he could have got really discouraged and began to put his mouth on that.
-
And began to whine and complain.
-
So let me help you with that.
-
If you whine and complain, you remain.
-
Your whining will extend your stay in your situation.
-
Here's something I learned about pity parties.
-
When you have a pity party, the wrong people show up and they always have a good time at your expense.
-
You are miserable.
-
He could have whined, he could have complained, but he went to jail.
-
Now, funny thing happened about him going to jail.
-
The Lord was with him.
-
And what happened while he was in jail?
-
He got promoted.
-
Now, what else happened in jail while he was in jail?
-
There was a divine connection.
-
He got promoted, he was put in charge.
-
Now that's funny to me, the head jailbird's in charge of the prison.
-
It's like letting the insane people run the insane asylum.
-
Make it make sense.
-
But anything that happened in the prison, Joseph was the doer of it.
-
It didn't happen unless Joseph gave the nod.
-
Now my name happens to be Joseph.
-
I can relate.
-
He gave the nod.
-
Whatever he did in prison, the scripture says, the Lord made it prosper.
-
Wow.
-
What does that say?
-
It doesn't matter where you are, God's able to make it prosper.
-
God's able to make you prosper.
-
Even in prison, even during the difficult times, even during the hard times, even in the times where you seem locked up and constrained and refined, confined, and trapped and tricked.
-
Even in the middle of feeling like you've been lied on and betrayed and mistreated.
-
Listen, this guy could have sung a whole song.
-
My brother's betrayed me.
-
Potter's wife lied on me.
-
Now I'm in jail.
-
He could have been singing the blues.
-
But he didn't.
-
Remember, I said a minute ago that if you complain, you remain, but if you praise, then you'll be raised.
-
And so when you find yourself in those difficult situations, don't complain, praise.
-
I said in a message a while back that your worship is your worship.
-
When you're going through something and dealing with something, listen, assume the position.
-
This is how I fight my battles.
-
Why?
-
Because the battle's already been won.
-
The victory is already yours.
-
And you can either buy the lie or enforce the covenant.
-
Enforce the promise.
-
Make the devil back up.
-
Make him back off.
-
Make him sit down.
-
How about this?
-
Make him get out.
-
No, don't sit down.
-
Get out.
-
Promotions may not always seem like promotions, but you need to trust God's strategic purpose.
-
Lord, I don't understand this.
-
Job said, Lord, though you slay me, I'm gonna trust you.
-
Isn't that what he said?
-
And he got back twice what he lost, right?
-
Double force trouble?
-
Somebody's posture for double for your trouble.
-
I don't know who that's for.
-
But you're postured for double for your trouble.
-
Chapter 40.
-
So we see that he went to prison.
-
He meets the cupbearer and the baker.
-
And they both had dreams.
-
They both had bad dreams.
-
Okay, I'm in this prison.
-
I'm not supposed to be in prison.
-
And I'm dealing with these people as having nightmares.
-
Well, I'm gonna help a brother out.
-
So he interprets both dreams for the cupbearer and the baker.
-
One was restored, the cupbearer was restored, the baker lost his head.
-
He was fired.
-
He was terminated.
-
So Joseph interpreted the dreams.
-
And it happened just like he said.
-
The cupbearer was restored.
-
He was able to put the king, place the goblet in the king's hand.
-
The baker was terminated in the literal sense.
-
And Joseph said, Hey, um, when you remember me.
-
Remember me.
-
How long was Joseph still in prison?
-
How long did he stay in prison?
-
Two years after he'd interpreted the dream, and it happened just like he told him, two years he's still sitting in the prison.
-
Now you talk about really being hot and really having a reason to complain and to whine and complain, but he didn't.
-
And you know the rest of the story.
-
All of a sudden, the uh the uh cupbearer remembers after Pharaoh's had a bad dream, and he says, Oh my bad, I met this dude in prison, his name was Joe.
-
And he was able to interpret my dream.
-
Maybe he can help a brother out, maybe he can help you out, Pharaoh.
-
Yo, bro, well, he can help you out.
-
Now the scripture says that they quickly, quickly brought him before Pharaoh, took him out of prison, ran him through the car wash, got him shaved and showered, changed his rags, put on a three-piece suit, and now he's in the palace.
-
Like that.
-
Like that.
-
He was able to interpret Pharaoh's dream.
-
He told Pharaoh about the seven good years, the seven bad years, and if I were you, I'd put somebody in charge that's gonna help you be able to maximize on the seven good years, and Pharaoh said, Well, I can't think of anybody else but you.
-
Just like that.
-
From the pit to the prison to the palace.
-
Just like that.
-
From the pit to the prison to the palace.
-
Now, here's someone that's living a strategic life on purpose.
-
And if God could do that for him, wonder what he'll do for you.
-
Wonder what he'll do with you.
-
Wonder what he'll do through you.
-
And that's not even the best part of it yet.
-
Now, you see, that's what I love about our God.
-
God doesn't forget anything.
-
He's so complete, he's so good, even the smallest of details.
-
The part about the estranged, being estranged from his brothers and his family.
-
God restored that relationship.
-
But not only did he restore that relationship, he preserved a generation.
-
Your strategic purpose is one of preserving.
-
You've been called to preserve.
-
What are we preserving?
-
Lives?
-
Souls?
-
Advancing the kingdom of God?
-
There's a preservation anointing on you.
-
Well, I don't see that.
-
I don't feel like that.
-
I don't want that.
-
Well, it's not about what you want.
-
Remember, you called into the kingdom for what time?
-
For such a time as this.
-
And if he could do all of that to preserve a people, how many of you got family members that are lost?
-
There's a preservation anointing on you.
-
You've been called into the kingdom for such a time as this.
-
Well, did you ask him?
-
Have you sought him?
-
There's several ways you can get it.
-
You can figure it out.
-
He'll speak to you through his word.
-
Bible, basic instructions before leaving earth.
-
That's the book.
-
He'll reveal it to you during prayer.
-
He'll even reveal it to you during a time of worship, like we had tonight.
-
Just doing a time of intimacy.
-
Come into me and see.
-
Wow.
-
He'll reveal that.
-
He'll show you.
-
He wants to show you some things.
-
He wants to show us some things.
-
Wow.
-
And of course, you know the rest of the story.
-
His family was literally preserved and saved.
-
And not just his family, but generations to come.
-
And God didn't just save them, but he brought them to a good place.
-
Joseph got to pick where they dwell.
-
Had plenty to eat.
-
Didn't want for anything.
-
Didn't lack in any way.
-
Didn't need anything.
-
Why?
-
Because Joseph understood living a strategic life on purpose.
-
We're called to live a strategic life on purpose.
