that you have become our faithful father and
-
we're thankful god for that we're thankful for
-
the love you poured out upon us for giving us
-
of our sins and making us righteous and acceptable
-
we thank you god that you gave us spiritual blessings
-
you've given us a joy an unspeakable joy and
-
we're thankful god for you in this moment and
-
it's time for bringing us here together. We don't
-
take these times for granted. We don't take these
-
moments for granted, but we are grateful that
-
we get to come together, worship together, pray
-
together. We're asking God for you to lead us
-
and guide us in this moment. As we open up your
-
word, we pray that your truth will set us free.
-
That if anybody came in here bound by any lies
-
or caught up in any schemes, That the truth of
-
your word will set them free in this hour. That
-
they will experience the freedom that comes with
-
knowing truth and being loved by you. In your
-
precious name I pray. The name above all names.
-
Y 'all shout it with me church. Jesus, amen,
-
amen. We'll love on your neighbor. Tell them
-
you're glad to see them. Tell them this has been
-
an incredible journey. But looking to say, Hey
-
neighbor, you've made it to the end of this chapter.
-
You know, we've been in the series. Here is home.
-
And I believe it's been one of our most powerful
-
sermon series. Do y 'all agree? I'm gonna try
-
that again. I believe it's been one of our most
-
powerful sermon series. There we go. Here is
-
home is coming from an understanding that um
-
God Loves a devoted people The Bible is not casual
-
nor is it? Shy are reluctant about God's desire
-
for us to love him completely spirit soul and
-
body That he wants the fullness of us. He wants
-
all of us He wants to consume us the Bible speaks
-
of it like a like a all -consuming fire. He wants
-
to into your lives and Here is home was more
-
than just a title. It was a declaration that
-
if we found ourselves in any great spaces concerning
-
Where God has called us who we are Some of our
-
beliefs that we would officially declare. No,
-
we're home here. We're home in Miracle signs
-
and wonders right that we're we're home if God
-
has called you to Tampa, Florida. I'm here. I'm
-
home Until my address changes. I might as well
-
be where my feet are You know, we declared home
-
to this church, you know, God's called you to
-
reveal the truth ministries here is home, you
-
know and home and marriages and home and jobs
-
and home everywhere simply knowing that The Bible
-
tells us in James that a double -minded man is
-
unstable in all of his ways and he cannot expect
-
to receive anything from God And so we're saying,
-
no, we want to be postured in a place to where
-
we can receive that all that heaven has for us,
-
that we want to truly experience that new life.
-
And we want to go from graves to glory. We want
-
to experience the glory of God in our lives.
-
Anybody want to experience the glory of God in
-
your life? And we realize that in order to experience
-
that glory, we must have not information, but
-
revelation from God. We need his wisdom. We need
-
to know what is not just permissible, what is
-
profitable for our lives and that takes wisdom
-
from God. Believe it or not, there are things
-
God has for you, specifically for you, that without
-
connection with him, you will not know what they
-
are. Won't be able to tell you what they are
-
your mama your daddy your auntie uncle There's
-
things that God has for you that he is intending
-
on communicating directly to you And so that
-
means we need to sit under an open heaven Amen
-
and under that open heaven God is able to pour
-
out wisdom that we need for us to be not just
-
Not just off -the -shelf Christians, but but
-
truly be ones filled with the spirit of God.
-
That we don't want to be ones that are so caught
-
up by the letter that we miss the spirit of God
-
that's behind every word that is spoken. Y 'all
-
rocking with me? Amen. And so we spent the majority
-
of our time there. And you know, as we were closing
-
this thing out, God just said, it's time, time
-
to go to war. And so we've been spending these
-
last three weeks gloves off. So looking to say,
-
Hey neighbor, this is another gloves off service
-
meaning that our objective as believers is to
-
know the truth and it's by that very truth we
-
shall be set free and understanding that anytime
-
you hear truth it may be convicting it may be
-
controversial but those things we know lead to
-
our good that the Bible I know we've been saying
-
even when it doesn't taste good it Boy, I'm gonna
-
try to get on this side. Even when it doesn't
-
taste good at what it lives good And so we don't
-
want to hear the truth. Oh, that was good. Yeah,
-
some of it is really good But stick around to
-
find out the path. That's normally where you're
-
like, okay God I hear you mama. She's listening
-
on the way in she's I ain't gonna miss a minute
-
of this word and so We went back and I have been
-
I can't tell you how stirred up I've been, as
-
a pastor, to see how you guys have been responding
-
to truth the last two weeks. You know, we went
-
back to where we actually started this year,
-
in the book of Haggai. Y 'all see how I did that?
-
Working on it. In the book of Haggai, and said,
-
you know, God told us that this year, point blank
-
period, that we were going to have to consider
-
our ways. Now, I don't know maybe some people
-
forgot about that doesn't matter we're all in
-
here together and so as we were entering to this
-
last quarter God said we need to go back and
-
some of us got a little lost some of us No, we
-
were right where God wants us to be but truthfully
-
and I say this because you can also miss this
-
in the book of Haggai is The fact that or the
-
truth that it wasn't about an individual arrival
-
I'm saying it again. The book of Haggai wasn't
-
about an individual's arrival. It was about a
-
people's arrival. I'm saying it to this side.
-
Maybe y 'all over here care about folks. But
-
the book of Haggai, he was telling them to individually
-
consider their ways for collective victory. Okay,
-
I said it wrong over this. In the book of Haggai,
-
he was telling them to individually consider
-
their ways for a collective victory, that it
-
wasn't about someone saying, I got it, I'm good.
-
No, it was about, we individually considered
-
our way so that we can get it. That we must understand
-
that there are things that we are called to do
-
together and experience together, but it may
-
come through the path of you considering your
-
individual participation in our we thing. And
-
so, Even if you are, wherever you are, experiencing
-
your new life, we ain't all there. So let's come
-
together and let's as a church, oh man, be that
-
new community, be that brother's keeper. Y 'all
-
all right? And so three places which I understand,
-
not all of these things are, how can I say this?
-
considered the same way for everybody that's
-
why you need wisdom from God and so we said we're
-
gonna dial in these last three weeks the first
-
week we talked about sowing and last week we
-
talked about seeking and this week we're gonna
-
talk about serving and we talked about these
-
three areas because as a people we haven't really
-
connected our our what's going on in our lives
-
naturally to how we've handled those areas spiritually.
-
And that was also a big mistake that was made
-
in the Book of Haggai, that they were connecting,
-
they weren't connecting their realities, what
-
they were seeing to how they were handling spiritual
-
matters. And there was a disconnect and Haggai
-
says, no, no, no, no. What you're experiencing
-
naturally is directly connected to how you are
-
handling things spiritually. That you have been
-
translated into a new Kingdom and so you don't
-
live by the rules and the dictates of this world
-
You are governed by a greater kingdom. That's
-
the kingdom of God say hey neighbor You were
-
in this world, but not of this world. You are
-
governed now say this with some audacity by a
-
greater Kingdom and so he says guys You know,
-
that's what the Bible says. Seek ye first the
-
kingdom of God. And you know that these things
-
are letting us know that when you put God first,
-
that everything else happens according to how
-
he wants it to go. And so we prioritize the kingdom
-
and in prioritizing his kingdom, there are things
-
about this everyday walking around life that
-
are no longer of concern. And so here's the thing.
-
The thing is it's not for us to be to you hear
-
that truth in order to live that truth It should
-
say to me when my everyday life is out of order.
-
It's because something in the kingdom has lost
-
its order Hear me out Gloves off. I know it's
-
early Right. So what does that? How do I live
-
that truth? You can know the truth, but if you
-
do not know how to He lived by that truth. It
-
does you no good. So if I know the Bible says
-
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness
-
and all these things will be added unto you.
-
What were those things? Those are things concerning
-
their everyday walking around life. Well, that's
-
what I know, but how do I live it? This is how
-
I live it if I'm if I'm walking around in my
-
everyday life It's out of order that lets me
-
know it's because something of the kingdom is
-
not in order And that's what Haggai was trying
-
to tell them y 'all keep wondering around while
-
you're why you got your money got your bags humping
-
holes in your money bags and your harvest isn't
-
yielding you're wondering all of these things
-
but you haven't considered how you've actually
-
treated God's kingdom and so this is not necessarily
-
breaking ground of revelation but it's as fundamental
-
for us to realize as believers y 'all rocking
-
with me right go with me to mark 10 now oh Jesus
-
Christ Today we are going to teach a message
-
on servanthood y 'all knew that when y 'all showed
-
up here this message Must be taught according
-
to the word of God Hear me out because as we
-
start to read It's important for you to realize
-
that none of us set this standard But all of
-
us have an opportunity to live up to now I will
-
also tell you if there's a message that I, Pastor
-
Brian, carry the greatest conviction concerning
-
is this one right here. I cannot explain outside
-
of these truths why God has been so good to me.
-
If someone asked me, why do you believe God has
-
been so good? I would say it's because of believing
-
that what he said here is actually true. So I'm
-
gonna preach it, just as it's written. Y 'all
-
like, why pastor came into worship late? I'm
-
gonna tell you why I came to worship late. I
-
came into Worship Lake because I was like, God,
-
if there's a disclaimer, if there's a group of
-
people this doesn't hit, let me know before we
-
start. And he did give me a group, which is fine.
-
And I think this is important. It was so beautiful
-
because I also realized that we are a multi -generational
-
church. There are people that are serving this
-
ministry right now beyond their tenure. So I
-
don't want you to hear this message and think
-
God's calling you back to a place you've graduated
-
from but I do you need you to realize that this
-
is the same truth that changed you and What is
-
your assignment is to not back down from the
-
truth that changed you? Because there's a new
-
generation that needs to hear the truth Unfortunately,
-
there's a lot of seasoned people who aren't telling
-
them the truth anymore Because they are afraid
-
that the truth is gonna call them back to a place
-
that they have graduated from which you have
-
I want to preach the message, but I got to make
-
sure That y 'all are that people are in the right
-
seats You hear what I'm saying? right that that
-
there are many of you who have done this and
-
well done well done, but then there's those you
-
still in this and you just need to hear the truth
-
and stop messing around with them lies. Y 'all
-
all right. And so I'm asking some of y 'all to
-
join with me in calling others out of, bruh,
-
that's not how it works. Because we all can agree
-
we live in a generation that think that they
-
can just do what they way. And that's not how
-
it works. They want what they see, but they don't
-
want to duplicate anybody who's got it. Oh, they
-
talking to me. you know they see where you live
-
now but they don't want to do an ounce of what
-
you did to get there we have a generation that
-
wants to be successful without having to be faithful
-
like that's what we got that's what we got and
-
they're looking at you and saying well you ain't
-
there like you like like you still asking me
-
to be there and you gotta tell i was there it's
-
your turn that's the truth i did it You up. And
-
so I'm saying that because this is a multi -generational
-
church, so I want to teach the truth. But I want
-
y 'all to also understand some of y 'all ain't
-
being called back to. You're being called to
-
say the truth, Bowley. To be reinvigorated with,
-
you know what, pastor? You right. I'm not finna
-
try to sugarcoat it with them no more. You cannot
-
be successful without first being found faithful.
-
Period. The Bible even tells us that if you wanted
-
to find out if you are faithful, that you can't
-
even ask yourself that question. That you should
-
ask the person to whom you said you're called
-
to be faithful too. So many people, this generation,
-
they call themselves faithful. Not knowing the
-
Bible don't even acknowledge you calling you
-
faithful. I'll get started. I was seeing how
-
far I could get. But like y 'all listening, one
-
last thing before we start. These are just things
-
God told me to share. before we start, so y 'all
-
just hear me out. Many of these truths I was
-
convicted of before I even read them in the text.
-
Why am I saying this? Because some of you guys,
-
this message is going to be confirmation of what
-
you already knew. I was like, I knew that was
-
true. I just didn't know where it was at. Any
-
of y 'all ever had one of the moments in scripture?
-
You felt the conviction before you even read
-
the text? But amen. Sorry, y 'all there, Mark
Mark 10 chapter mention
-
chapter 10, verse. We'll start at 35. I'm reading
-
ESV. It says, and James and John, the sons of
-
Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, teacher,
-
we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.
-
All right. Now, first, hear me out. We all read
-
that. We all gasp the same way to think that
-
Who is anybody to come up to Jesus and make such
-
a statement as we want you to do for us whatever
-
we ask of you many of us that just makes the
-
inside of us tear up and I would say you're that
-
mature group I was talking about like you'd like
-
this sound wrong all right I don't even know
-
what the rest of this is pastor you don't even
-
got to break this text down but cast them brothers
-
out but here's the truth That's how this generation
-
approaches Jesus Unfortunately, that's how many
-
of us have gone back to approaching Jesus We
-
talked about this last weekend seeking that we
-
truthfully are coming here and in our hearts
-
is one simple request we just want you to do
-
what we asking and Jesus this is so good you
-
would think Jesus's response is No, but check
-
this out church. Jesus doesn't say no He said
-
to them What do you want? Me to do for you. So
-
Jesus didn't say no to that request He asked
-
them. What is it that you want? Because there's
-
something else we know about the kingdom to whom
-
much is given Much is required. So Jesus is not
-
immediately offended by their request Jesus is
-
not confused, baffled, or even offended by their
-
request. Jesus first wants to know, well, what
-
are you asking? And we should always ask ourselves
-
when we are coming to Christ, what is it that
-
you truly desire? That's why Jesus asked him,
-
what is it you want? Because once I hear what
-
you want, I can discover what's actually in your
-
heart. And they said to him, grant us to sit
-
at your right hand and one at your left hand.
-
glory. What they were saying is the right hand
-
and the left hand of any leader was considered
-
places of prestige and honor. What they were
-
asking for was to be represented in prestige
-
and honor upon his victory over Jerusalem. Their
-
thought was that Jesus came to establish an earthly
-
kingdom that was visible and so what they were
-
asking for was to be seen in visibility with
-
him as he conquered this earthly kingdom but
-
this revealed something in their heart that they
-
didn't realize that jesus didn't come to establish
-
an earthly kingdom but a heavenly kingdom jesus
-
came to destroy an earthly kingdom and establish
-
a heavenly one And so it actually revealed that
-
they missed some steps along the way. Sometimes
-
we've missed some steps along the way. We've
-
heard some things. Oh, that sounds good. What
-
did they hear? They heard that the ones who have
-
been oppressing them roam, that Jesus was going
-
to go conquer them. And so they were like, hey,
-
listen, we're about to free the people. And because
-
they were oppressed as a people, it sounded attractive
-
to be with the one who was going to take down
-
the power that they saw. But we know that Jesus
-
doesn't fight flesh and blood. He fights principalities,
-
rulers, and places that you cannot see. So they
-
were imagining a physical victory when Jesus
-
was fighting a spiritual one. And so, in this
-
moment, when Jesus was speaking more and more
-
about his coming time for me to do what I've
-
came to do, they saw that time was running short.
-
in seeing that time was running short they're
-
like we got to get our request in because we
-
want to be close to him when we win and so they
-
were seeking a natural victory a scene victory
-
although Jesus was fighting a spiritual victory
-
in other words they've been walking with them
-
but they've been on two different pages hope
-
y 'all rocking with me and that's happens with
-
us sometimes sometimes we trade in the deeper
-
for the cheaper Right, that we started understanding
-
that he's freed me from sin, he's freed me from
-
death, he's given me a heavenly home, my eternity
-
is secure, but over time we've drifted into truly
-
desiring to be seen visibly good. Wrong side
-
of the church again. So, the fight was for spiritual
-
freedom. And so Jesus says, hey listen, I've
-
come to set you free. from a greater oppression
-
than you even realize that Rome has. They thought
-
Rome was an oppressor. They didn't realize that
-
sin is always a greater oppressor than Rome.
-
So Jesus didn't come to just set them free from
-
a physical oppression of Rome, but from a spiritual
-
oppression called sin. And he's like, listen,
-
if you've been set free from sin, what can Rome
-
do? And so Jesus like, I'm doing what you're
-
saying. It's just not visible the way you want
-
it. Come on y 'all gotta rock with me, right?
-
And so They're in this journey. They're like
-
well, whoa. Whoa. Whoa We now want some visibility
-
of our victory. I don't want to mess with y 'all
-
too much But this is where a lot of us are today
-
That you have been set free sin no longer has
-
you bound grace is flowing through your life
-
But yet because you don't have as many physical
-
signs as victory as you thought you're beginning
-
to think that the fight wasn't worth it This
-
is where they are and so they're saying listen
-
We want to rock next to you because every king
-
has a throne and so when you conquer I got any
-
James is in the house any John's in the house,
-
right? That's right. So their thought was save
-
us from Rome. His thought was save you from sin
-
Which is a greater slavery than Rome has ever
-
Oppressed you with this right here is also revealing
-
to They said, in your glory, I was going to do
-
this later on, but I don't think we're going
-
to make it. But that right there was the trigger
-
to understand that they had misaligned at some
-
place because they were wanting to be in Jesus's
-
glory. And Jesus is like, there is no glory apart
-
from the fathers. And he appropriates this here.
-
Jesus said to them, you do not know what you
-
are asking to drink the cup that I drink. or
-
to be baptized with the baptism which I am baptized.
-
In other words, you cannot ask without realizing
-
that there must be something given to achieve.
-
You're asking to be with me in glory. Well, the
-
path of glory goes through death. So the answer
-
wasn't no. What was given to them was the path
-
to the request. You gotta see this you gotta
-
see this so Jesus didn't say that's the stupidest
-
thing I ever heard before in my life How could
-
you ask for the right and the left? I know you've
-
misinterpreted the right and the left, but either
-
way, we can work that out as we continue to grow
-
and learn each other. But what I need you to
-
understand greater now than anything else in
-
this moment, bump your mistheology right now.
-
I need you to get a basic principle that if you
-
are asking for something, you must be willing
-
to give of yourself in proportion to what you
-
have asked for. That you cannot ask for something
-
great and be willing to give something small
-
That if you are asking for greatness, you must
-
be willing to sacrifice great With it that you
-
cannot be asking for much and only be willing
-
to give Little that if you're asking for much
-
if you came in hear me out church and ask Jesus
-
to do something so world -changing It's not that
-
he said no He didn't tell them no I hear y 'all
-
dream carriers every week and you believe that
-
God is going to do Exceedingly abundantly above
-
what you can ask think or imagine many came in
-
here You have named what it is that you want
-
God to do in your life And I'm here to show you
-
he didn't tell them no He just gave them the
-
path to what they asked for because the every
-
promise there's a and so he says hey You want
-
this glory want this glory? I think y 'all should
-
look at y 'all never say hey neighbor You want
-
this glory? You you got to trace the story and
-
he says hey Are you able to drink the cup that
-
I drink or be baptized with the baptism which
-
which I'm baptized Jesus is speaking of the cup
-
of death If you're willing to rock with your
-
boy, maybe there's a chance, but what you ask
-
for is mighty great. What are you saying Pastor
-
Byron? I know it may seem as though Jesus is
-
asking you for a lot right now, but have you
-
considered what you've asked him for? Have you
-
actually considered what you've asked him for?
-
We have a church that has minimized our request
-
in the face the majesty of his glory Just because
-
he's big doesn't mean it makes what you have
-
to do small. I'm gonna say it again Just because
-
he's a big God. It doesn't mean You get away
-
with doing small things I'm gonna say this Just
-
because he's a big God That does not mean you
-
get away with doing small things We have a generation
-
now that thinks God's so big they can do nothing
-
I can do nothing. God's so great, I can do nothing.
-
This is where we are. Boy, y 'all about to run
-
me out of the church. I can feel y 'all right
-
now. Anyway, check this out. Verse 39, this should
-
blow your mind again. And they said to him, we
-
able. Boy, this is a different group of mama
-
jammers right here. This is top flight discipleship.
-
This this is discipleship on levels many of us
-
have yet to experience Jesus is saying you gonna
-
have to drink the cup be baptized with the fire.
-
They're like bring it on Whatever you ask if
-
it results in glory, we are willing Whatever
-
you ask if it results in glory, we are willing
-
whatever you ask if it results in glory, we are
-
will whatever If it results in glory, we are
-
willing we don't even understand what it means
-
to drink the cup But if it takes drinking the
-
cup to sharing glory past the cup Jesus They
-
don't even understand the magnitude of what they're
-
asking for But they do understand the principle
-
to who much is given much is required Why should
-
I even expect to have a small request given what
-
I've asked? I've asked to sit next to Jesus in
-
victory. I've asked to be side by side with the
-
Savior in victory. Why would I even think that
-
comes with me doing something small? Look at
-
your neighbor. Say, hey neighbor, what have you
-
asked? I know you're complaining about what he's
-
called you to do, but what did you ask? That's
-
the new question. We got to start asking people
-
when we're seeing people complain about About
-
about about serving and we're seeing them complaining
-
about sacrifice and we shouldn't try to try to
-
help them understand We should first ask them.
-
What did you ask? Oh what you're mad about and
-
I know what you think is too high and I know
-
you the Expectations are through the roof. But
-
before I even evaluate whether or not they're
-
misusing you Can I ask you a question? What did
-
you ask Jesus for? Before I say they putting
-
too much on you before I say they not considering
-
your family before I say that they not doing
-
blah blah blah Can I can I just ask what what
-
did you what did you what did you ask? What did
-
you ask Jesus for? because truthfully Some requests
-
come at the leaving of your family I would be
-
lying to you if I didn't show you that many times
-
throughout scripture Based upon the request the
-
follow -up was get out of here. You have to leave
-
everything you know you have to put down your
-
occupation you have to put down what you think
-
is your primary gifting you're gonna have to
-
put down what you think is your primary source
-
of resources you will have to lay it all down
-
so I can't tell you that the request is too much
-
before I realize what did you ask you know they
-
want us up there every night of the week what
-
did you I can't tell you it's too much until
-
I know what you upside down, you're not gonna
-
be able to do that from your couch, bro. You're
-
not gonna be able to maintain your sleeping schedule
-
according to some app on your phone. So you're
-
telling me the app knows more about the rest
-
you need than the Christ who found you. What
-
are you saying? I haven't reached my peak. What
-
is this? The matriarchs are seasoned saints.
-
Because you're like, what are these devices that
-
you are using in substitution of the Holy Spirit?
-
We do not know of the Jesus you follow That's
-
what y 'all really want to tell them. We don't
-
know what Jesus y 'all follow, but it ain't the
-
one that found me I suggest You go find the real
-
Jesus because the Jesus you think Ain't the Jesus
-
I serve They said we are able and Jesus said
-
to them the cup that I drink You will drink and
-
with the baptism which I am baptized You will
-
be baptized. What did you say? He says you right?
-
Right now it's going to be in your way Because
-
there's only one who's getting on the cross for
-
all mankind but what you must realize each one
-
of us does have a cup we will have to drink and
-
Your cup may not be my cup, but you got a cup
-
Hey neighbor You got a cup and next time you're
-
reluctant about drinking it just ask yourself
-
What did I ask for? But what's most important
-
here is the principle. What does the cup represent?
-
It represents suffering It represents the thing
-
you don't want to go through to get to where
-
God wants you The cup represents the thing you
-
don't want to go through to get to where God
-
wants you and what we must all realize there
-
is always going to be something you have to go
-
through to get to where God wants you but you
-
have to ask yourself before you say ask too much
-
what did i ask him for because we all have a
-
cup we must drink up as it turns out James would
-
be killed he would be martyred John would be
-
exiled from the country so John separated from
-
family James killed so that was their cups wasn't
-
the cross But I love to think about this because
-
even Jesus had to carry his cross before he got
-
a chance to fight his fight I'm saying again
-
Jesus carried the cross Before he fought the
-
fight. I'm saying to this side. He carried the
-
cross Before he fought the fight we think carrying
-
the cross is the fight this side We think carrying
-
the cross is the fight the cross carrying was
-
the prerequisite to the cross He had to carry
-
the crawl the cross to the cross The victory
-
wasn't in how he got there The victory is that
-
he withstand everything when he arrived And so
-
we have believers that think because they went
-
through something the battle is over No, oftentimes
-
what you went through just got you to The battlefield
-
now that you're on it. You got a fight. That's
-
that seems like a lot the shame it's heavy cross
-
victory and God's like you ain't even at the
-
battlefield yet you ain't even made it to the
-
battle yet and you mad about a cross we had a
-
leadership meeting last month no y 'all pray
-
for past this is how times been with me last
-
week and I'm gonna say this because someone came
-
to me and they said oh that's right some people
-
they couldn't make it They had a reason, you
-
know. They had somewhere else they had to be.
-
I said, you know, it's so amazing to me. One
-
day, we'll realize as a people, everybody had
-
somewhere else to be. There wasn't a person in
-
the room that didn't have a better place to be.
-
But for some reason, there's a select amount
-
of us that think that where we supposed to be
-
has greater rank than other people. And I don't
-
understand, maybe one day you'll realize. everybody
-
always has another option. That's what's going
-
on in culture today. Some people are living in
-
what they think they already arrived to. They
-
really think they already are that. Just because
-
the song says I'm him that don't make it you.
-
You get caught up in the lyrics and forget your
-
reality. What are you saying Pastor Brian? They
-
had false illusions of places of honor. False
-
illusions. places of honor Jesus was going to
-
sit on an earthly throne not realizing he was
-
ascending to a heavenly one what are you saying
-
that truth is the kingdom of God is not made
-
up of place of palaces and thrones but of hearts
-
and lives that Jesus wasn't trying to sit on
-
the throne of a built palace but sit on the throne
-
of one hearts so his reign would be great But
-
it's an internal victory, not one perceived by
-
this world's standards of what's great, but what
-
is truly eternally beneficial. He's the greatest
-
King without a visible throne. The only time
-
he would be lifted above this earth, it would
-
be on a cross. The only time he would be seen
-
lifted above this earth, it would be on a cross,
-
dying for everyone that sat below it. That's
-
how humbled he walked but yet we have a generation
-
that is serving him So they could be lifted to
-
places. He would never even be lifted to himself.
-
There's 40. Oh, man This is so beautiful, but
-
to sit at my right hand or at my left It's not
-
mine to grant but it is for those for whom it
-
has been prepared What was he saying? Y 'all
-
understand James and John did not quit at the
-
same But Jesus finishes the same by saying the
-
thing you asked for it's not even mine to get
-
Who will determine who's on the left and the
-
right? But as for me and you We shall follow
-
and allow him to bless us. However, he so chooses
-
I heard your request based on your request This
-
is the ask But I need you to understand, even
-
though we will give all, it's still not on us
-
to determine how we will be blessed because of
-
it. Many people are willing to do things for
-
a guarantee. Very few are willing to do them
-
because they understand the great love from which
-
they've been loved. He's pulling out a heart
-
of servanthood and service and sacrifice that's
-
unrecognizable by most of us. Can we be honest
-
if someone told you I heard what you asked it's
-
gonna cost you everything But at the end of everything
-
being taken, I'm not gonna guarantee what you
-
gave it all up for How many y 'all still rocking?
-
This is what he's saying. I'm gonna leave y 'all
-
alone and when the ten heard it they began to
-
be at James and John and Jesus called them Called
-
them to him and said to them You know that those
-
who are considered rulers of the Gentiles Lord
-
over it Lord it over them and their great ones
-
exercise authority over them But it shall not
-
be so among you but whoever Would be great among
-
you Must be your servant Jesus in those short
-
amount of text was setting the order for what
-
greatness in the kingdom looks like. The ten
-
were indignant because they too were being brought
-
back to a place of physical representation of
-
kingdom greatness. They were indignant because
-
they realized once someone's on your right and
-
someone's on your left ain't no more seats of
-
honor left. These two brothers jumped in before
-
the rest of us realized What was going on? So
-
members 12 disciples, so the other 10 were listening
-
it was like hold up Ain't we all going in the
-
same direction? Why did these two? Because remember
-
Jesus didn't tell them no I Imagine they were
-
looking back like we were looking back. Oh, he
-
bought them. He bought them put them in a place
-
They just asked for school. Watch them. Watch
-
them. Save you're about to get them step back
-
y 'all step back Jesus about to tell them then
-
they hear Jesus be like sounds fine to me They're
-
like well if all we had to do was ask It he's
-
like listen y 'all let me help all y 'all out
-
this world prioritizes Greatness by its ability
-
to impose its authority upon others This world
-
sees greatness by the ability you have to govern
-
others against their will that their seats of
-
authority aren't even true seats of honor because
-
everyone who is subject to them is only subject
-
because they have some type of authority or ranking
-
given to them by financial gain by by manly positions
-
that they have rankings that Determine their
-
authority, but none of their authority is genuine
-
if they lose the title they lose the power What
-
do you say in passive Brian your boss as long
-
as they? your boss can tell you what to do your
-
boss go to your house now boss I don't know if
-
you was aware it is but here you don't read nothing
-
here this is my house you have situational authority
-
it runs within the time frame at a location with
-
given tasks pre -described in a job description
-
And at the time you ask for something outside
-
of that time, away from locations or outside
-
of that job description, you no longer have authority.
-
Matter of fact, the day you stop passing money,
-
you lose authority because you don't have true
-
sonship. You don't have true servants. We are
-
not here because we believe in what you are doing.
-
We are here. because it's a means for me somehow
-
to get closer to what I believe I should be doing.
-
You're a means to an end. The entrance to the
-
kingdom. Here's the problem, church. Many of
-
us are very unaware that we are presently treating
-
our Heavenly Father like we do these earthly
-
kings. That if it doesn't fit within my calling,
-
my gifting, my schedule, where I plan to be already,
-
it's a no -go. My friends didn't capture your
-
heart so that he would have to operate within
-
your confines. He captured your heart so that
-
he can live outside of what you think should
-
be done. Gave his life not for your availability.
-
He gave his life for your life, not give his
-
life for your availability. He gave his life
-
as an exchange for your life. Here's the truth.
-
We say we are willing to suffer for Jesus while
-
complaining about the mire and irritations that
-
come with serving others. What is that confines?
-
Strictions. This doesn't fit my calling. Why
-
am I being asked? This doesn't fit my availability.
-
Why are we asking to be there? Jesus, you are
-
asking me is outside of the convenience of the
-
life I've created. And Jesus is like, nothing
-
I did for you fit inside of the convenience of
-
the God that I was. I took on flesh for you,
-
and you won't even take on inconvenience for
-
me. And I put this together as a chart because
-
many of us, it's not that we're not committed,
-
it's just we fail to realize what it actually
-
looks like to be submitted. Jesus wasn't committed
-
to the cross. He was submitted to the cross.
-
What do you mean, Pastor Brian? He wasn't on
-
the cross as a savior. He was on the cross as
-
a convicted conspiracy theorist. They didn't
-
put a savior up there in their eyes. They put
-
a criminal up there. He wasn't on that cross
-
in glory, on that cross in shame. I'ma go home.
-
I told y 'all, just forgive me. God tell me,
-
Brian, that's enough. That's enough. Because
-
I get extremely passionate about this when I
-
see people ask for much and complain about little
-
requests And it shows up in the little things
-
church. I mean sometimes Just jump out at you
-
like I don't have on the right outfit today.
-
It seems so small But it represents something
-
so much greater. What does it represent? It represents
-
a limitation You're afraid of looking bad when
-
he wasn't afraid of being spit on Being mocked
-
So your cup is a bad hair day. Don't sound like
-
a bad cup Man, I got to go but it shall not be
-
so among you in other words That ain't our kingdom.
-
We do not live that way. We do not live under
-
the pretense of authority No, we live in authentic
-
submitted life A life that says the greatest
-
among us is the servant. The greatest among us
-
is the one who is willing to go where no one
-
else is willing to go, do what no one else is
-
willing to do, do it seen and unseen, heard and
-
unheard, visible and invisible. We are the ones
-
that understand that servanthood is the besthood.
-
That if it needs to be done, It shall be done
-
because my life is being presented as a sacrifice
-
Not my availability Whoever would want to be
-
great amongst you must be your servant and whoever
-
would be First among you must be a slave of all
-
for even the son of man came not to be served
-
but to serve and to give his life as a ransom
-
for others so Jesus takes this and wraps it up
-
in what he's doing himself how could you say
-
you've come to follow me but not be willing to
-
die to others when the main crux of my whole
-
mission is to die for others the whole point
-
of my coming is so that i may die so others may
-
live that i lay down my very life as a sacrifice
-
so that others may meet the life of jesus that
-
if it's bringing them closer to jesus it doesn't
-
matter what the ask is i'm going to do a throwback
-
y 'all ready for this the response is simple
-
here i am lord here we are lord what are you
-
saying pastor brian that some of guys god is
-
calling you from being committed to this life
-
of Christ to being submitted to the life of Christ
-
and I want to just point out some differences
-
here Committed people require information Where
-
are we going? What are we doing? What's supposed
-
to happen? Submitted people need revelation What
-
did God say? Committed people connect to what
-
they understand submitted people Submit to who
-
they trust Committed people need agreement before
-
moving Submitted people Need direction while
-
moving. Here's the thing about committed people.
-
You'll always find temporary intersections of
-
Agreement and I want to do this example actually
-
did this example nine years ago Some y 'all may
-
remember it because I want you to understand
-
the fullness of of what is being presented here.
-
If you're hearing all of this and you think this
-
is how we build a better church, you're right.
-
But if you don't understand this is how you build
-
a better marriage, you missed the whole point.
-
Jesus is teaching this because as we submit to
-
what this is, all other things come together.
-
So I want to give you an example, right? People
-
who are in a committed marriage. What does that
-
mean? that they're not in this seat of sacrificial
-
service to one another. They're committed to
-
the idea of marriage and if you're committed
-
to the idea, you will have momentary intersections
-
where you feel as though it's good. What does
-
that look like, right? That if the wife says,
-
you know what? All I want is more date nights.
-
Then as long as that husband is taking her out
-
on date nights, While they're out on those dates
-
she feel as though the marriage is good Whether
-
or not the husband wanted to be there or not
-
because it turns out we could care less if people
-
are where their heart wants them to be nowadays
-
We'll just take the body husband. Why won't you
-
just watch some football games with me? You're
-
not interested in anything. I'm interested in
-
so the wife sits on the couch Watches the football
-
game uninterested but in this moment we feel
-
good why because you're doing what i want and
-
so there's momentary intersections every date
-
night and every football game we feel as though
-
we have a good marriage but what you don't have
-
is a submitted one you have a committed one and
-
it's hard to have a fruitful marriage where there
-
are two living people just wanting their way
-
the bible tells us that we are submitting one
-
to another under the lordship Christ. So what
-
are you saying Pastor? What I'm saying is a submitted
-
mayor says what is Jesus define love to be and
-
how many times do we intersect at his points
-
of agreement not our self -satisfaction. Like
-
how many times do we find ourselves where he
-
says love exists not how many times we find ourselves
-
at places I just want you to be. And so We're
-
trying to figure out why there's moments where
-
it feels good and moments where it feels empty.
-
It's because you have a committed marriage, not
-
a submitted marriage. You're not both looking
-
at the image of Jesus and allowing Jesus to determine
-
where you should be together. But you're looking
-
at the desires of one another and creating a
-
to -do list that none of y 'all even really want
-
to do. Well, how do I do this pastor Brian? I
-
realize the greatest among us isn't the one who
-
says what should be done but the one who serves
-
To the benefit of the other. So what does that
-
mean? That means that I'm no longer trying to
-
push my desires on you And you're not trying
-
to push your desires on me. We are both we are
-
willing to serve what Jesus says is good for
-
us Y 'all rocking with me. It's a principle that
-
unlocks greatness the kingdom it's called surfing
-
laying down not just my agenda but my life for
-
the benefit of others because here's the truth
-
be committed to many things but you only can
-
be submitted to one thing at a time so many of
-
you have stretched yourselves so thin you haven't
-
even experienced the weight of his glory that
-
comes from submitting who you are completely
-
to anything. So as we end this Here Is Home series,
-
my prayer, stop being committed to everything
-
and be submitted to the one thing that God has
-
called you to pour your life into it. Finally,
-
boldly declare, here is, and I cannot expect
-
to experience the weight of his glory while scattering
-
seeds across barren land. Let's be planted. be
-
watered and I must trust God to bring the increase.
-
I love the words of Jesus' disciples. He speaks
-
to them in John 6 and 16. He tells them, listen,
-
I lost a lot of them today because he told them
-
that they would have to drink of his blood and
-
eat of his flesh and they all ran. Then there
-
were 70 left and he says, hey, if that offends
-
you, you can go too. But I love their words back
-
to him. They said, Jesus. Where else do we have
-
to go? You alone have the words of life. Father
-
God, I thank you for your people today. I pray
-
that your will be done in their lives. I pray
-
that your kingdom be lifted up in their lives.
-
I pray that you alone sit on the throne of their
-
hearts. I pray that They trust your word. They
-
lean not to their own understanding I pray that
-
they Spend some time with this and I pray that
-
they with authenticity consider their ways and
-
say God Where am I living committed that I'm
-
supposed to be submitted God, where am I afraid
-
and have been hesitant to pour the fullness of
-
myself in where you are requiring me to I pray
-
that he gives you wisdom to understand those
-
places. I pray that he also gives you the wisdom
-
to understand the places you shouldn't be that
-
are causing you to live a scattered life, so
-
therefore you have a fragmented harvest. I pray
-
that God convict you that he's very clear about
-
where you are to focus, where you are to be,
-
so that you can live an actual life of pure servanthood
-
to where you're not wondering about being Manipulated
-
you're not wondering about being misled, but
-
I pray that God Restores your heart Cultivates
-
a fresh trust in you so that you can experience
-
the fullness of this kingdom here on earth I
-
pray that as a church That we are no longer tossed
-
to and fro by every wind and wave of doctrine
-
That we're not trying to find a way around the
-
truth no longer that we will boldly pick up our
-
crosses We're boldly drink from our cup knowing
-
that if you gave your life it might just cost
-
me mine I pray that we be bold in our witness
-
and be courageous with our faith. I pray that
-
we Stir one another up as we take this walk.
-
It's not gonna be easy for anybody But I pray
-
that as brothers and sisters one to another that
-
we stir each other up in faith that we don't
-
become reservoirs of complaint in but we embrace
-
our brothers and sisters with grace and truth,
-
that we speak love towards them, but we do not
-
withhold the truth from them. I pray that we
-
become living vessels of your glory and your
-
power. I was about to say something. I'm gonna
-
say it, because I think it might help y 'all.
-
Because you may wonder, that Pastor Brian, he
-
doing a whole lot. And you may not know what
-
I've asked God for. And I was about to pray it
-
over y 'all. And you might not want it. I think
-
some of y 'all do. But I ask God all the time
-
to let us be the church that brings him back.
-
Let us be the ones who got it. I ask him that
-
all the time. I believe we have the ability to
-
be that church. I do. I believe we can be the
-
church that heals the wounds of the previous
-
one and sets a blaze. for what God always wanted
-
his church to be and feel like. I believe that
-
with all my heart, that we have the church that
-
will reign on every mountain of authority in
-
this world. I believe we will reign on the mountain
-
of entertainment, of business, of education.
-
I believe if the mountain exists, we will be
-
on top of that mountain as people of God. That's
-
what I ask God for. that every seat of authority
-
will be occupied by a person that knows him by
-
his name. I believe some of y 'all have that
-
same desire. That you don't believe because you're
-
a Christian that you're in a subset. You believe
-
because you are saved, you're the set. I'm not
-
afraid of you putting Christian on my business
-
as long as you put best next to it. Yet we're
-
saved and we're the best. And I ask him, allow
-
us, grace us to be those people. Give us the
-
wisdom. To be those people show us where our
-
previous have fallen So that we can walk straighter
-
Show us those who are sick and hurt and bruised
-
by what happened and give us wisdom to present
-
healing to them That's what I pray and I want
-
to pray for those who you feel that same way
-
that same desire What's that pastor Brian? That
-
you are no subset that you have been called to
-
rule in rain in this world. So if you know that's
-
you, you know that you've been called to rule
-
and reign in this world. Now I need you to stand
-
up regardless of how you presently feel about
-
yourself. Because one thing we must realize,
-
the harvest never looks like the seed. So I don't
-
care what you look like right now, but I believe
-
that as you submit yourself to the word of God,
-
the harvest eyes have not seen ears have not
-
heard what God has planned for those who love
-
them and I know many of y 'all think the vision
-
is in the grave but this whole year has been
-
about calling new life to those things and God
-
has already told you that you will be blessed
-
to be a blessing and right now Satan's trying
-
to rewrite that story but he has no authority.
-
I understand you done had some bumps, you done
-
had some bruises, you done had some setbacks,
-
but our God is a promise keeper. Father God,
-
I thank you for your people who are standing
-
here. Father God, I pray by their posture right
-
now, standing in faith that you will pour out
-
upon them in this moment. Wisdom that has exceeded
-
anything they've ever experienced. I pray, Father
-
God, that you grant them a blessing upon their
-
hands, their feet, unlike any they've ever experienced.
-
I hear you, Father, there will be a fresh wind
-
released beneath their wings this morning. I
-
pray for a fresh excitement, a fresh stirring
-
on the inside of them. I play for renewal of
-
hearts and minds. Satan will not have the final
-
say. What happened happened, but we serve a resurrected
-
Savior and he's turning every crooked story straight.
-
I pray for every, pray against every force that
-
may be suppressing what you have designed to
-
do in their lives, that that chain be broken
-
today. Satan has no authority over their lives.
-
I pray that the King of Glory wakes them up every
-
day. I pray that they feel a fire like never
-
before. That as they seek you, they will see
-
you. That everybody has been created in the image
-
of an almighty God and they will reflect that
-
glory here on earth. I pray that as they walk
-
into places, the presence and the fragrance of
-
your power goes with them. That right now, God,
-
we speak and declare that you are turning things
-
around for their good. That every scheme Satan
-
has set up, it is called destroyed today. For
-
who the Son sets free is free indeed. I speak
-
freedom over them, God. Freedom. Freedom. If
-
debt has found them bound, we speak freedom.
-
If sickness is bound, then we speak freedom.
-
If confusion has them bound, we speak freedom.
-
Disappointment, freedom. Regret, freedom. For
-
this is the day that you have made. And we choose,
-
we choose, we choose, we choose. to rejoice and
-
be exceedingly glad in it. Stir up joy in the
-
hearts of your people, God. Stir up joy in the
-
hearts of your people, God. Stir up joy, joy,
-
joy, joy, joy. Let it arise. Let its enemies
-
be scattered. We will run and not be weary. We
-
will walk and we will not faint. Yes, Lord. We
-
believe we will see the goodness of our god right
-
here in the land of the living generations will
-
speak of the goodness that you are moving in
-
and through your people right now god generations
-
will experience your glory because of the obedience
-
of the people who are listening right now the
-
hand of god is upon you the hand of god is upon
-
you fresh glory god Renewed faith, Lord God.
-
Goodness of the Lord wake you up every day. May
-
his favor be upon you. Great grace, greater glory.
-
Reservoir, I hear a song. Can we sing over y
-
'all real quick? I know the time is done with
-
the time gone do, but there's just a song I hear
-
and I just want to sing it over you as a blessing
-
upon you. Y 'all hear what I'm saying? You are
-
blessed. and your family and your children and
-
their children may his favor be upon you generations
-
and your family and your children may his favor
-
be upon you and a thousand generations your family
-
and your children And their children, may his
-
favor be upon you. Generations and your family,
-
may his presence, may his presence go before
-
you. Behind you, behind you, all around and within
-
you. He is with you, he is with you. May his
-
presence go before you, behind you, all around.
-
And within you He is with you He is with His
-
presence Go before you Go before... and you are
-
not saved, and you've not made Jesus Christ your
-
Lord and personal savior. We would love the church,
-
the people that introduce you to Jesus. It takes
-
a confession and a belief, and the Bible tells
-
us you were then born again. So I'm gonna say
-
a confession, just say it with us, and know that
-
in faith that you are saved. But Father God,
-
I thank you for your son, Jesus. I believe he
-
died. and rose again and when he rose he rose
-
my forgiveness my sanctification i am now justified
-
and been made righteous i've been forgiven of
-
my sins i have a home in heaven eternity awaits
-
me but for now there's an assignment before me
-
and i will serve it faithfully faithfully amen
-
The Bible says if you confess with your mouth
-
and believe in your heart that Jesus died and
-
rose again, you are saved. Church, let's celebrate
-
people that said that prayer for the first time.
-
If you're here in the building and you said that,
-
meet us in the first room on the left as you
-
leave. Or if you're online, write us, tell us,
-
let us know that you were saved. We would love
-
to tell you more about what it means, that decision
-
means. I love you guys and man, I'm just thankful,
-
trying not to burst out in tears right now. But
-
man, you know, anyway, God is telling me I gotta
-
let y 'all go and just trust that the Word will
-
do the work. I just wanna go with y 'all to make
-
sure you do it. Hide the Word in your heart,
-
man. Hide it in your heart. Y 'all gotta realize
-
I really don't wanna let y 'all go. But you gotta
-
go. You gotta go. You gotta do it. You gotta
-
believe it for yourself, man. It won't leave
-
you, man. It won't. It won't leave you. You can
-
trust that. Come on, come on. God and we do trust
-
the Holy Spirit that's in you because he's actually
-
the one who's gonna be your reminder of those
-
things you've committed yourself to man so may
-
the breath of God be upon you and go out and
-
do who God called you to be now unto him that
-
is able to keep you from falling and to present
-
you faultless before the presence of his glory
-
with exceeding joy. To the only wise God, our
-
Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
-
both now and ever. Amen. Go and do.
