  1. You're listening to a message to go from Acts Church.

  2. We hope this message will light up your day.

  3. For today, I was just, you know, I just received

  4. this from the Lord and I felt that it's a

  5. good time for us to talk about how can we

  6. awaken our spirit. Yeah, awaken our spirit. All of us

  7. here are wide awake, right? I can see all your

  8. eyes are open and, you know, you look happy, you're smiling, right?

  9. So that's our physical being, you know? And then we have,

  10. of course, the soul, you know, where we make decisions,

  11. the wisdom that we have, right? We have this diagram here.

  12. If Tyra can help us see. So body, right? It's

  13. what the world sees, the way we dress, the way

  14. we speak. The way we show up, you know, or

  15. we eat well is to take care of our body,

  16. our physical, right? And then we have our soul, which

  17. is our mind. The thoughts that we have or our will,

  18. you know, to do something. We have the confidence to

  19. do something. Or even our emotions. How do we respond

  20. to different things in our lives?

  21. Yeah?

  22. So... Most times, oftentimes, we spend a lot of effort

  23. when it comes to body and soul because we kind

  24. of need it every day, you know, to get things going,

  25. be it with work or the way we show up

  26. for our families, you know, or just to be alive, right?

  27. When someone is alive, it's when the body and the

  28. soul is going on, yeah? Another aspect is the spirit, right? Right?

  29. Now this part of us, if you're not cautious enough,

  30. it may not be awake. Yeah, it may not be awake.

  31. So we can be still sitting here. Our minds may

  32. be here. Our body is here. Our emotions are here.

  33. But then is our spirit awake? Right? Because you know what?

  34. Spirit is the one that connects us closely with the Lord.

  35. Spirit is the one that enables us to hear from Him, right?

  36. Spirit is the one that, you know, if you think

  37. about why is it that some people can sit at

  38. hours and keep praying and keep reading the Word? Well,

  39. that's because the Spirit is awake. It's not so much

  40. only the physical. Just because we are awake in the morning,

  41. we can do that. You can be awake, but you

  42. can be seated there. Your thoughts could be somewhere else.

  43. But your spirit has to be aligned as well. Yeah?

  44. So we're going to talk about a little bit today

  45. on how can we train our human spirits. Alright? Turn

  46. to the person next to you and ask them, is

  47. your spirit awake? If it's not, then please wake them up. Okay?

  48. And to awaken our spirit is not as simple as

  49. just an off and on button. Okay? It's not as

  50. simple as that. But it comes... with some form of discipline,

  51. some form of devotion. If you can recall, I brought

  52. you through a series a week ago about the book

  53. of Nehemiah. When a revival took place, there had to

  54. be repairing and rebuilding happened. And when God caused that

  55. to happen among the people, what they did was that

  56. they started devoting themselves to the Word of God. And

  57. because of that, they could actually confess their sins. They

  58. came to a place of repentance because the Word of

  59. God got them to realize, you know what, there's so

  60. much in me that I have to let go of

  61. or there's so much in me that God wants to

  62. work in. So it requires an amount of devotion and

  63. that was through the Word of God. So, you know,

  64. we need to become more conscious that we are spiritual beings.

  65. We have a spirit within us. not just mental or physical.

  66. And we need to train our spirits so that they

  67. become safer guides. Yeah, safer guides. I mean, people out

  68. there may use words like, you know, you have your instinct,

  69. you follow your instinct and all that, right? But as believers,

  70. children of God, we have the spirit within us, which

  71. can also speak to us and show us, okay, how

  72. do I feel about this? How do I respond to it?

  73. And the more you train yourself, the more sharper it gets. Yeah,

  74. that is how God grows that within us. So, you know,

  75. sometimes the questions that we may have, you know, how

  76. can I walk in the Spirit? How do I feel

  77. His presence? Many people talk about, you know, I can

  78. sit in His presence, but what does that actually mean?

  79. Or you may even look at people, maybe even our pastors,

  80. and they always share, okay, we spend hours praying. How

  81. do you think people can actually just sit down and

  82. pray for so long or worship for so long like

  83. King David, right? He spent hours just worshipping the Lord. Well,

  84. that's because the spirit was awake, yeah? So if you're

  85. here desiring to hear more from God, to feel His presence,

  86. to be able to, you know, walk closer with Him,

  87. our spirit has to be awakened, yeah? So just like

  88. our minds that can be educated, our spirits can be educated.

  89. You know that? Yeah, it can be educated. Our spirit

  90. can be built up in strength and trained just as

  91. our bodies can be built up and trained. Yeah? If

  92. you have friends who are into training, into gym, you know, some,

  93. I know friends who can actually spend hours in the gym.

  94. They can really just do their weights. They can exercise.

  95. They can go on and on. Because you know what?

  96. Their body is awakened. They're physical. You know, they just

  97. have that capacity. They have that strength. And of course,

  98. the mind willpower as well. It's not just the physical, right?

  99. You need to have that, you know, the confidence, the courage.

  100. Not to say confidence, courage, but the willpower, the discipline. Yes,

  101. I can do this. Some people after 15 minutes or so, like, okay, thanks, bye,

  102. I'm going to go back, right? So it takes that

  103. amount of willpower. So the same thing, if we want

  104. to be able to spend more time in the presence

  105. of God, our spirit has to be awakened that we

  106. can feel more of the Lord, yeah? So let's look

  107. at a couple of scriptures here. I'm going to start

  108. with Proverbs 20, 27. Okay, it says here, Proverbs 20,

  109. 27 says, The spirit of a man is the lamb

  110. of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart.

  111. So can you see how important the spirit of the

  112. man is? Because it enables the Lord to actually search

  113. the depths of our hearts. You may be seated here

  114. thinking that, oh, I know what's in my heart. I

  115. know what's in their mind. But you know what? There

  116. are many things that we still don't know. You know,

  117. some people after years of journeying through, then they realize, actually,

  118. I still have this unforgiveness to work on. or I

  119. have this thing that I have to surrender. Because you

  120. know what? The Spirit of God shows you that, you know,

  121. you had this encounter many years ago and therefore the

  122. searching takes place and then causes a stirring like, okay, God,

  123. it's time for me to surrender. It's time for me

  124. to let go, yeah? So that is what the Word

  125. of God reminds us of what the Spirit of man is.

  126. Let's look at more scriptures here in Romans 13 verses 11.

    Romans 13:11

  127. And do this knowing the time, that now it is

  128. high time to awake of your sleep. For now our

  129. salvation is nearer than when we first believed. So it

  130. reminds us here that it's high time to be awake. Okay,

  131. there's no more time for us to stay asleep, to slumber,

  132. because God's time is coming really soon. It's not just

  133. a matter of when we confess Him as our Saviour,

  134. but His second coming is soon. So we've got to

  135. stay awake, right? Isaiah 57, 15. For thus says the

  136. high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy,

  137. I dwell in the high and holy places with whom

  138. has a contrite and humble spirit to revive the spirit

  139. of the humble and to revive the heart of the

  140. contrite ones. So God can only cause a working within

  141. us when our spirit is awake. When there's such an

  142. amount of humbleness and contrite heart, right? That whatever God

  143. tells you, you can receive it. You can respond to it, yeah?

  144. And I pray that all of us will be able

  145. to get to that place of having a contrite and

  146. humble heart before the Lord, yeah? Psalms 51.10, it says,

  147. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew

  148. a steadfast spirit within me. Yeah, create in me a

  149. clean heart. Revelations 3.2, it says, Be watchful and strengthen

  150. the things which remain that are ready to die. For

  151. I have not found your works perfect before God. Be

  152. watchful and strengthen. Because if we don't strengthen the inner man,

  153. if we don't strengthen the spirit of God within us,

  154. one day it can die off. Yeah, it can die

  155. off if you're not cautious enough. James 4.8, draw near

  156. to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse

  157. your hands, you sinners, and purify your heart, you double-minded.

  158. So drawing near to God. And Proverbs 20.27, as we

  159. read just now, the spirit of a man is the

  160. lamb of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of

  161. his heart. So time after time, there are so many

  162. portions of the scriptures that we can see that God

  163. reminds us of the spirit and how much we need

  164. to guard and build it. just like we build our muscles,

  165. just like we take care of our body, we need

  166. to take care of our spirit as well. Having the

  167. heart check time after time, yeah? So I'm just going

  168. to share with you a couple of pointers, okay? How

  169. can we build and train our human spirit? Number one

  170. is to meditate in the Word of God. Yeah, meditating

  171. in the Word of God. You know, there are many

  172. spiritual men or women that we know of that they

  173. spend a lot of time with the Word of God.

  174. And that is why they can hear from the Lord, right?

  175. That is why they can be able to impart, to prophesy,

  176. to even interpret dreams because there's such a connection with

  177. who God is as well, yeah? In fact, you cannot

  178. develop spiritual wisdom without meditation, right? And God made that

  179. fact very known to Joshua after the death of Moses, right?

  180. When you read Joshua 1, verse 8, it says, This

    Joshua 1:8

  181. book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth,

  182. but you shall meditate on it day and night and

  183. observe according to all that is written, for that will

  184. make you prosperous and you'll have good success. So that

  185. was God's word very clearly to him when he took

  186. over from Moses. It was not so much about where

  187. you need to go or who do you need to

  188. speak to, right? Or what you have to change. The

  189. first thing that God told him was to meditate on

  190. the word of God. Then you know how important it is, right?

  191. For you and I to do the same as well

  192. as you lead your own people, be it as a parent,

  193. be it as a leader in your own capacity. The

  194. word of God is what you need to start.

  195. Off with, yeah?

  196. And when we speak about meditating, what comes to your mind?

  197. How do you meditate? Sit quietly. Yeah, right. Let me

  198. just give you a little bit of meaning to what

  199. meditation means. When we look at the Hebrew word of meditate,

  200. it's called Haga. Haga means here it's active meditation. It's

  201. a vocal practice. It's not just like what we know

  202. now in the modern life, right? Where you need to

  203. be silent, clear your thoughts from your mind. That is

  204. what the world would teach us. But we look at

  205. the biblical context and how the different prophets and leaders

  206. in the Bible that we read from, this is how

  207. they meditated, yeah? There are a few meanings to it.

  208. The first one is to mutter the word, okay? Meaning

  209. to speak under your breath, to whisper, yeah? So meaning

  210. you just Keep saying the word of God, right? So

  211. if you know, okay, draw near to me and I'll

  212. draw near to him, you keep saying it out. So

  213. you're in your car, you're by yourself, but you're just saying, yes,

  214. the Lord will never leave me. The Lord will never

  215. forsake me. So the more you're saying it, you're speaking

  216. to your inner man. You're speaking to your spirit. You're

  217. reminding yourself. And then along the way, it just becomes

  218. part of you. So that's muttering the word. Or another

  219. meaning to it is like the roar. There's another meaning

  220. to haga, the roar, meaning how a lion roars. So

  221. there's a time and place for us to declare the

  222. word of God. You know, when we sing songs of praise,

  223. when we declare the book of Psalms, for example, you

  224. say it out loud. Yeah, because you want others to

  225. also hear. You're proclaiming God's word. So there's a meaning

  226. to that. And then there's this word rumination. It is

  227. likened to the meaning of like how the animal chews.

  228. If you look at a cow chewing the grass, it

  229. doesn't just take one bite and then swallow. If you've

  230. seen a cow, right? It keeps munching and munching and munching.

  231. It enjoys the whole... flavor of the grass, right? And

  232. I think that helps with digestion. They say the more

  233. you chew, it helps with your digestion, right? I think

  234. there's a number of times you need to chew your food,

  235. you know, and then it helps with your old gut

  236. and digestion. So the same thing is with the Word

  237. of God. We're actually called to chew on the Word

  238. of God, not just to read and then move on

  239. to the next thing, but it's to keep munching on it.

  240. Because some words that we read from the Bible can

  241. be quite deep It can mean very different in different

  242. seasons of our lives. So if you just rush through

  243. or glance through, we are going to be missing out

  244. the truth. We're going to miss out on what the

  245. Lord is actually telling us. But if you just keep

  246. munching on it, going back to it, you will see

  247. and find pleasure in what the Word of God actually means.

  248. So just knowing this, I think it changes the way

  249. we look at what meditating the Word of God is.

  250. Sometimes you may have the picture of, okay, I just

  251. opened the Bible. I look at the Bible. And then

  252. I just keep quiet. Well, there's time for silence as well.

  253. But when we talk about meditation is meant to be active.

  254. You're doing something actively. Yeah. So maybe that's a change

  255. of how we can read the Word of God as

  256. we go on. Yeah. It's not just read and move on,

  257. but to sit on it. Yeah. To sit on it. So...

  258. If we can just think about our exposure to the

  259. Bible and how much we have read, how much of

  260. the Word of God do we know? Know meaning it's

  261. not just the head knowledge, but I know it in

  262. my heart and I believe in it. That is just

  263. a good heart check for all of us. Because if

  264. you have been a believer for so long, then how

  265. much is our exposure to the Word of God? I'm

  266. not asking you whether you've read through the Bible. If

  267. you've read through it, good, well done. Yeah, but it's

  268. not just about finishing it from Genesis to Revelation, but

  269. it's also being able to know the Word, apply it

  270. in our own lives. When you go through different things

  271. in life, could the first thing be, okay, what is

  272. the Word of God telling me now? How is it

  273. applicable to me? How can I find comfort in the

  274. Word of God before I can even find comfort in others?

  275. And all that can happen when we first meditate on

  276. the Word of God. And the more you do it,

  277. you're building your spirit. Right? The more you chew on

  278. the Word of God, the more you ruminate on it.

  279. And there are times maybe you just need to roar

  280. out the Word of God when you're going through distress

  281. and say, you know what? God is with me, has

  282. overcome the world for me. When you speak it all out,

  283. can you imagine how our spirit will feel? Right? It

  284. influences how we feel and respond to who God is

  285. to us as well. Yep. So that's the first thing that,

  286. you know, we can start developing, meditating on the Word

  287. of God. Now, are we good? Yeah. Now, the next

  288. thing is to practice the Word of God. Yeah. Practicing.

  289. In James 1, 22, it says, be doers of the Word. Um,

  290. and when we look at, you know, the word, um,

  291. you know, doing, um, doer, right? From the book of James,

  292. let's see, let's look at James 1, 22. It says here,

  293. but be doers of the word and not hearers only,

  294. deceiving yourselves. There's three key points here. Firstly, be doers.

  295. Don't be just hearers. And if you are only a hearer,

  296. you'll actually deceive yourself. So it's not just a matter of, okay,

  297. I hear and then I listen to it and I

  298. do something. But if you don't do something about it,

  299. if you're just a listener, you're actually deceiving your own self.

  300. You can cause, you know, you can cause your own

  301. self to stumble if you don't do something about the word.

  302. That's exactly what it means. And when we look at

  303. the word doer in Greek, right? I mean, Greek, it's

  304. pronounced as poietes, P-O-I-E-T-E-S. What it means here, it's like

  305. a poet. It comes from that translation, meaning you're a maker,

  306. you're a producer or you're a creator. So when James

  307. reminds us to be a doer, he's actually asking us

  308. to be able to produce something from the word of God.

  309. He's calling us to be able to actually create something

  310. from the word of God. So now that you have

  311. heard the truth, what can you do about it? Can

  312. you multiply it through your life? You know, can you

  313. put it into action that it's so real that people

  314. can actually see, oh, this is what the word of

  315. God actually means, right? So meaning it's calling us to

  316. be like a producer. You know what a producer does, right?

  317. You create, you write stories, you write lyrics, you have

  318. actors and actresses. There's so much live in a performance, right?

  319. And that's the same thing what a doer is called

  320. to be. Can we produce from the word of God? Yeah. Yeah.

  321. because it says here that if we remain as hearers,

  322. we are actually deceiving ourselves. And in fact, that is

  323. why sometimes some people can stumble when they interpret the

  324. Word of God falsely. Because you know what? We're only

  325. seeing the words here. And then we have our own

  326. translation to it. And then we wonder, okay, why is

  327. it like this? Or why isn't, you know, why is

  328. God allowing all of this to happen? So we try

  329. to reason things out and we ask questions. But what

  330. James reminds us here is that when we leave the

  331. Word of God, then you will understand why God is

  332. telling us some things. Or how we see a promise

  333. keeper because I am leaving it out and therefore I

  334. experience Him. And it comes with an amount of faith

  335. because we don't just do it because... I know what's

  336. the outcome, right? But being a doer means I will

  337. still take that step of faith to do it nevertheless, right?

  338. If you look at an example here in Philippians 4, 6. Yeah,

  339. most of us will know this scripture Okay, so it

  340. says Be anxious for nothing But in everything by prayer

  341. and supplication With thanksgiving Let your requests be made known

  342. to God So take for an example, when we are

  343. reading a scripture like this and we say, okay, God,

  344. you asked me to pray. I come before you and

  345. I pray. But if you're still having anxiousness and you're

  346. still having worry, then you're not exactly being the doer

  347. of the word, right? Because the word of God is

  348. calling us first to be anxious for nothing. So meaning

  349. when we come to God in that posture of prayer,

  350. we need to say, God, I have all these concerns

  351. in my mind, but I'm going to surrender to you

  352. my anxiousness. I'm going to surrender to you my worry.

  353. And this is my prayer. That is a true doer

  354. of the word. And that is when you won't stumble.

  355. Because when we keep worrying and we keep praying, and

  356. when things don't happen, that is when we begin to

  357. question the Lord and ask, you know, God, why is

  358. it still not happening? And we get so disappointed, our

  359. spirit goes down, you know? But if we truly take

  360. the word of God, because it says in verse 7, right,

  361. in the same scripture, And the peace of God, which

  362. surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through

  363. Christ Jesus. This is what we mean by chewing on

  364. the Word of God, meditating on the Word of God.

  365. Because if you look at this verse 6 and 7 itself,

  366. there is so much truth in it. There's a reason

  367. why God says first, be anxious for nothing, pray, and

  368. then you will feel the peace of God. Because sometimes

  369. if you just pray and still worry and wonder why

  370. there's no peace, well, that's because we are just speaking

  371. and choosing what we want, right? But when we want

  372. to be the doers of the word, we've got to

  373. be able to experience the fullness of what God gives

  374. us as well. Yeah? So not to be anxious, but

  375. to keep bringing all to the Lord. Amen? Yeah, so

  376. an over-anxious prayer will just, you know, that itself will

  377. bring down the spirit and the inner man that's within us. Yeah,

  378. so let's be children of God that practices the Word.

  379. If you could just ask yourself, when was the last

  380. time I actually applied the word of God when I

  381. was out there? Not just in church, because it's easy

  382. to apply. If you're all believers, everyone's going to say

  383. well done. But when you're out there, you're the only

  384. believer in your workplace, and you're the only believer in

  385. your family, and you still need to speak out God's word.

  386. Would you still choose to do that? Would you still

  387. be bold and courageous when God asks you to do that?

  388. Would you still declare when your old team is saying,

  389. you know, this is not going to work out. We're

  390. not going to meet the deadline. You're going to say,

  391. you know what? My God will come true because that

  392. is what the word tells me. Yeah. So let's learn

  393. to speak those truths because the moment you declare it,

  394. there is power in declaration. Things will happen. You know,

  395. things will happen. And in fact, you know, God likes

  396. to also work in the midst of our pre-believers. I

  397. remember when I went for this World Changes Conference, I

  398. attended the workshop by Rachel and Alicia when they were

  399. sharing about witnessing in the marketplace. And the two of

  400. them are really powerful ladies. They have done so much

  401. of sharing the gospel among their colleagues and their bosses.

  402. And so one of them actually testified that when you declare,

  403. when you pray to a pre-believing family, a friend or colleague,

  404. you will see God moving even mightily because this is

  405. way of actually drawing them to know Him, you know,

  406. even in the midst of our cousins. And so they said,

  407. and so they shared a couple of testimonies of how,

  408. you know, they reached out, they prayed, and then you

  409. know what? A testimony comes out of it. And that

  410. itself opens up their heart to say, yes, I believe,

  411. you know, your God is just someone different from what,

  412. who I believe in, you know? So, but imagine if

  413. you just hesitated and will this person actually believe? then

  414. you're already stopping from God to do what He wants

  415. to do through you, right? But if only you declare and,

  416. you know, you will be healed because my God says

  417. He can. God was going to use. And that itself

  418. will lift up, not just their faith, but your faith

  419. as well, right? To believe and know that my God

  420. can do it. Yeah? So let's exercise that. Let's apply

  421. that in our every day. I know life takes us on,

  422. you know, when you start in the morning and before

  423. you know it, it's night. But take time to just

  424. pause and ask God, I am here at this moment

  425. with my family, with my colleagues, with my friends. Can

  426. you show me what to do to live out your word?

  427. And if you can say those prayers, God opens up

  428. doors and uses you in a mighty way. And sometimes

  429. not even in big ways, but in the smallest way

  430. of encouraging someone. And I think that goes a long way. Amen?

  431. So let's practice the Word of God. Turn to the

  432. person next to you and tell them, practice the Word

  433. of God. Apply it. Children are very good in this.

  434. You know, the moment you tell them something, they do it,

  435. they catch it in ex-kids, right? So let's learn, you know,

  436. to have that faith, childlike faith as well, yeah? All right,

  437. now the next thing when it comes to building our spirit,

  438. building our inner man is to give the Word of

  439. God the first place, right? To give the Word of

  440. God the first place. The training, the developing and the

  441. educating of our spirit comes by giving the word first.

  442. Number one, priority. Because if we don't see priority in something,

  443. we can't activate it. Yeah. Yeah. the same thing is

  444. with our spirit. If we cannot stir up our spirit

  445. and say, okay, the word of God is important. It's

  446. like how, I'm sure most of you are familiar with

  447. using AI, right? When you use your chat GPT, when

  448. you ask questions, you know, right? The more you feed

  449. it is what it's going to answer you. And that

  450. is why all our chat GPT can sound very different

  451. because it's what you ask. So if you're asking more

  452. about your work, it's going to give you more of

  453. those kind of answers. If you're asking more of cooking

  454. and recipes, then it's going to give you those answers.

  455. In fact, the tone can sound like you. Did you

  456. know that, right? It can sound warm like you or

  457. more straightforward. I know of friends who sometimes call their

  458. chat GPT and it becomes, okay, I'm sorry, I'll give

  459. you exactly what you want because sometimes this AI can

  460. also be giving too much of affirmation at the start, right?

  461. You know, so some people don't want to waste time

  462. and they say, okay, just give me the answer. So

  463. it's the same thing with our spirit. What you feed

  464. in your spirit is what's going to come out. If

  465. you don't feed it anything, you can't expect your spirit

  466. to actually say something or feel something out of it. Yeah?

  467. And that is why the Word of God has to

  468. come first place. It has to be a priority. So

  469. that you're actually signaling to your body, to your soul,

  470. what is important for me. When I go through trials,

  471. when I go through challenges, I know that, okay, this person,

  472. what's important for her is the word of God. And

  473. so the response is going to be the word of

  474. God instead of your logic.

  475. Right?

  476. Because logic can sometimes kick in very quickly. I have

  477. to talk to this person. I've got to do this.

  478. But if you have already kind of, you know, programmed

  479. your spirit in a way that my word of God

  480. is priority, that is what is going to come out

  481. of it as well.

  482. Yeah?

  483. So it's about the word of God. In Proverbs 4.20,

  484. it says, My son, give attention to my words. Incline

  485. your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart

  486. from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your

  487. heart for they are life to those who find them

  488. and health to all their flesh. It's powerful, right? It

  489. says to keep in your heart because it's life. Truly,

  490. it's the life warrior that keeps us going. Without the

  491. word of God, we are just walking zombies. Right? We

  492. just keep going and going. We can still function. But

  493. is that true life? Because life is only through God.

  494. He is the way, the truth and the life. And

  495. it can only happen through His Word.

  496. Yeah?

  497. So let's find strength in that. God's Word is a

  498. medicine to all their flesh. It's healing to the world.

  499. If you're wanting healing, declare the Word of God. Never,

  500. never take it for granted. Never take it, never belittle.

  501. It's just... You know, how is it going to work

  502. for me? The moment you start thinking that way, then

  503. if God wants to move, it's still not going to

  504. happen because you're already unbelieving, right? You're already saying, if

  505. I pray also, I don't think it will work. A

  506. pastor should pray, I think, better. If you start thinking

  507. that way, then how is God going to use you, right?

  508. The same power, all of us have it because we

  509. all serve the same God, yeah? So a very good

  510. check-in is our belief, our faith. When you want to

  511. pray for someone, just pray with all your heart. God,

  512. use me because you live in me. You are able

  513. to heal and I'm just going to do that in faith, yeah?

  514. So training yourselves, you know, and maybe the question that

  515. you want to ask yourself, the first thing is, what

  516. does God's word say about this? Instead of what, you know,

  517. my friend is saying about this or what the world

  518. or the boss is saying about it. Because it's easy

  519. to go to their opinions. Because they'll always have something

  520. nice to say, right? To affirm you, which is good.

  521. but don't you think your creator should have the first

  522. say right in your lives because he knows best sometimes

  523. there's a place for correction that he gives you sometimes

  524. there's a place of love but you just got to

  525. keep going back to him yeah And this takes as

  526. a habit. It comes with discipline. It's not something that

  527. you can just develop overnight. You know, you need to

  528. have just like everything else that you want to achieve

  529. in life. If you want to train your spirit, it

  530. has to come with practice. It has to come with

  531. the devotion that you want to give as well. Yeah.

  532. Now the next thing, the last point here in training

  533. our spirit is obeying the voice of the spirit. This comes,

  534. of course, at the next level. The moment you can prioritize,

  535. the moment you can meditate on the Word, the next

  536. thing is you can actually hear Him. That's a very

  537. beautiful encounter. Do you know that? When you can just

  538. hear and feel the prompting of the Holy Spirit. And

  539. that's a gift that only you and I have because

  540. we have full access with the Lord.

  541. Yep.

  542. You know, I have friends out there who can also be,

  543. they're not pre-believers, but they can be very sensitive in

  544. the sense where they just have that really nice, good,

  545. I mean, they say the gut feeling or the right instinct,

  546. you know, and they just do it. But I would

  547. think that, yes, those things are what we have as

  548. a person, as a physical. But don't you think we

  549. have even more full access because we have a relationship

  550. with the Lord? Yes. Right? And if you're not using

  551. it to... It's like you having a VIP ticket, but

  552. you're not using it. You still choose to sit at

  553. the back and then trying to wonder where is the Lord. Right?

  554. It's like we're missing that opportunity that God has already said,

  555. you know what? Come, take the front seat. You have

  556. full access. You can hear my voice. Why aren't you

  557. listening to me?

  558. Right?

  559. We go and research and Google. There's so many things

  560. out there, but just one... Nudge God, what is it

  561. I need to do? And if he just tells you

  562. and you do it, it'll make a whole big difference, right?

  563. It saves you the whole figuring out and wondering and

  564. the frustration. But it's like, okay, I'll just do this, Lord.

  565. If you ask me to wait, if you ask me

  566. to speak to this person, I'm just going to do it.

  567. It's simple as that sometimes, you know, but we tend

  568. to overcomplicate it. We overcomplicate it because of priorities at

  569. the end of the day. Like I said, we spend

  570. so much time on our body, our soul, but we

  571. are not putting in enough effort when it comes to

  572. our spirit. If only we can spend more time. I

  573. can just imagine the amount of revival that we can

  574. feel in our hearts because God is so close to us.

  575. And we can see this in 2 Corinthians 5, 17. Therefore,

  576. if anyone is in Christ.

  577. He is a new creation. All things have passed away. Behold,

  578. all things have become new. The moment you said, yes, Lord,

  579. you're a new person. So if in your life, you're

  580. still holding on to the baggages of the past, then

  581. it's maybe time to bring it to the Lord because

  582. it's not meant to bring forward. Yeah, if you're still

  583. struggling to hear God, if you're still feeling the same

  584. old person, then there's something not right. Right? You've got

  585. to come to the Lord. Speak to someone about it.

  586. Let someone journey with you because there's so much more ahead.

  587. There's so much more God wants to do in you.

  588. A new creation. Yeah, a new creation. It says in

  589. 1 John 4, 4, You are of God little children

  590. and have overcame them because he who is in you

  591. is greater than he who is in the world. What

  592. more do we need when we know that the Lord

  593. who is in us is greater than anything else, any situation,

  594. any people, the most difficult person or boss you've encountered.

  595. He is greater than that particular person. Yeah. So let's

  596. try to invest on our spirit. Yeah. Let's try to

  597. spend a little bit more time to communicate, to talk,

  598. to be ministered. And when you do that, you'll be

  599. able to also hear and obey. And of course, the

  600. obeying takes a lot as well because you can either

  601. choose to say yes or no, especially when He's trying

  602. to challenge you, right? But that comes with faith, yeah?

  603. That comes with a special devotion of wanting to experience

  604. more of God, yeah? So as you give this newborn

  605. spirit within you, the privilege of meditating on the Word

  606. of God, to put it, the priority, your spirit will

  607. actually become stronger. And your inward voice will be the guide.

  608. It will be the guide and it will actually show

  609. you what to do, what to say and where to go.

  610. So church, let's desire that. Like Elaine reminded us, we're

  611. only 10 weeks away from the year to end. Is

  612. there something that you.

  613. So fast, right?

  614. Yeah.

  615. Is there something that you want to say to the Lord?

  616. You know, and when you started the year, maybe you

  617. felt that, yes, there are many things that you wanted

  618. to commit to. God, I wanted to read the Bible.

  619. I wanted to hear you. Well, it's never too late.

  620. Maybe life has taken a toll, but this could be

  621. that day where you can still come back and say, God,

  622. I want my spirit before I end this year. I

  623. want my spirit to be more tuned in. The word

  624. is tuning in, right? When you try to tune in

  625. to a radio station, sometimes you have to change the

  626. channels to get to that station you want, right? And

  627. it takes a few pressing of the button sometimes. And

  628. the same thing is with the tuning of the Word

  629. of God as well. When you just tune in and

  630. put down every other voice silent, then you'll be able

  631. to hear and feel God even more. Amen?

  632. We hope you've been blessed by this message. For more

  633. information on our church, please visit axechurch.org. We are also
