-
God.
-
>> Amen. Boy, it's good to be in church.
-
Romans chapter 8, read a verse we all
Romans 8 chapter mention
-
know well and read just three verses in
-
this text. Then we'll jump over to
-
Romans chap 11 and read one verse and
-
we'll look at two of the verses this
-
morning and then Lord willing the other
-
two verses um on this evening. Let's
-
look verse number 28. Romans chapter 8.
Romans 8 chapter mention
-
Romans chapter 8 verse number 28.
Romans 8 chapter mention
-
The Bible says, "And we know that all
-
things work together for good to them
-
that love God to them who are the called
-
according to his purpose."
-
Notice with me verse number 32.
-
Romans chapter 8 verse 32, he says, "He
-
that spared not his own son, but
-
delivered him up for us all, how shall
-
he not with him also freely give us all
-
things?"
-
Notice with me verse number 37 of Romans
Romans 8 chapter mention
-
chapter 8.
-
He says in verse 37, "Nay, in all these
-
things we are more than conquerors
-
through him that loved us."
-
>> I say hallelujah.
-
>> Turn with me to Romans chapter 11
Romans 11 chapter mention
-
verse number 36.
-
Romans chap 11:36
-
the Bible says for of him and through
-
him and to him what's that next phrase
-
>> are all things to whom be glory forever
-
amen
-
now you've probably noticed the
-
redundant theme through these verses
-
this morning with the help of the Lord I
-
want to try to preach on that thought
-
this morning and again tonight if the
-
Lord allows us to on that subject all
-
things, all things. Let's go to the Lord
-
in prayer and ask the Lord to help us.
-
Father, thank you so much for allowing
-
us to be in the house of God. And uh
-
Lord, I realize, Father, that this place
-
is preparation for that place that
-
Brother Galen just sung about. God, we
-
are here in what one preacher called
-
heaven practice. And Lord, I'm asking
-
you, God, today that you would help us,
-
Father, as we examine the scriptures,
-
Lord, not just to hear the word of God,
-
but to heed it, Father, and also, Lord,
-
after that we've heed it, God, I pray
-
that we would honor you and praise you
-
and worship you, God, for how you've
-
spoken to our heart. Lord, I thank you
-
for this precious book, God. You told us
-
in your word, Lord, you said, Father,
-
that you'd honored this book. You'd
-
honored your word above your own name.
-
And God, we have it in our hands, Lord.
-
Many copies of it here today. And I
-
thank you for the inspired, inherit,
-
infallible word that we have in this
-
King James Bible. And God, I ask you
-
would help us today. I pray for the
-
sinner that's here and lost. I pray
-
they'd be saved. I pray for the saint
-
that's discouraged today. I pray they'd
-
receive encouragement. And God, I ask
-
humbly that you would help us this
-
morning to give you all the glory for
-
everything that's said and done. Help us
-
not to take honor under oursel. God,
-
we're worthless without you. Help us God
-
today I pray. Well, we sure love you.
-
Thank you for loving us. And we ask all
-
this in Jesus name. God's church said,
-
"Amen."
-
>> Thank you for standing. You may be
-
seated.
-
Our text this morning, of course, these
-
few verses. I generally never do this. I
-
do not like to cherrypick verses out of
-
the word of God and preach uh the text,
-
but I want to do that this morning
-
because it's what the Lord told me to
-
do, and he trumps my opinion. Somebody
-
say, "Amen."
-
And uh I've asked God that he would help
-
us today in these verses. And uh my
-
introduction this morning, I want to say
-
this. We when I think about God and who
-
he is. When you think about the
-
personality of God, there's many
-
attributes that would describe him.
-
There's many words that we could use to
-
describe him. I think when we think
-
about his personality, we would say
-
number one that his essence is holiness.
-
Amen. Because the Bible tells us that
-
those angels are not flying about the
-
throne crying love, love, love or grace,
-
grace, grace or mercy, mercy, mercy. But
-
they cease not to cry holy, holy, holy.
-
And we would say this morning that the
-
essence of God is his holiness. But I
-
think if we were to describe the
-
personality of God or that which makes
-
up his character, it would be described
-
not by a word but rather the suffix of a
-
word. You say, "What do you mean?" Well,
-
I'm talking about the suffix omni.
-
Omni. You say, "What do you mean?" It
-
means that word omni suffix means all or
-
in all. And when I think about the
-
personality of God, we often attribute
-
to him three different things that we
-
quote most often. Most of you probably
-
know the three attributes that we quote
-
of God. We say number one that he is
-
omnisient. That is that he is all
-
knowing. We say not only that he is
-
omnisient but that he is omnipotent.
-
He's all knowing and all powerful. And
-
then we say that he's also omnipresent.
-
That he is all knowing, all powerful,
-
and in all places at the same moment.
-
But at the at the beginning of all of
-
those words, you realize that the the
-
suffix that word all describes who he
-
is. And we could say this morning if he
-
was not all knowing, omnipotent, and
-
omnipresent, it would hinder his power
-
greatly. wouldn't it? But I want to say
-
this this morning. He's so much more
-
than those three things.
-
>> You see that omni represents who he is
-
because he is all.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> In him consists everything.
-
>> There was nothing before he was
-
>> and there'll be nothing. Amen. Hey, I'm
-
telling you that's a helping me this
-
morning.
-
>> Long after we were all gone, he'll still
-
be.
-
>> Amen. And I bless his name for that this
-
morning. You see, there are other words
-
that we could use to describe him, but
-
these describe the Lord's person. Well,
-
I I would say it could be said that
-
omniscience is the manifest attribute of
-
the father that he is all knowing. Jesus
-
said many times he said, "My father
-
knoweth all things in reference to
-
different things." And when we think
-
about the scriptures, what Solomon
-
taught in the book of Proverbs was
-
wisdom. That wisdom is the knowledge of
-
God. The fear of the Lord is the
-
beginning of wisdom. And it is that
-
omniscience that describes it is the
-
manifest attribute of the father. We
-
could say that omnipotence is the
-
manifest attribute of the son. For the
-
Bible says in John chapter 1 and verse
John 1 chapter mention
-
number one, in the beginning was the
-
word and the word was with God and the
-
word was God. The same was in the
-
beginning with God. All things were made
-
by him and without him was not anything
-
made that was made. And so Jesus Christ
-
is the all powerful being in the
-
Godhead. You say, "Preacher, but God is
-
God the Father is also all powerful."
-
Just hang on a minute. I'll get there in
-
a minute. You see, omniscience would be
-
the manifest attribute on the pages of
-
scripture of the father. Omnipotence
-
would be the manifest attribute of the
-
son. For the scripture literally says
-
that by his own vition or by his own
-
power he raised himself up out of death.
-
And so he is the all powerful son, the
-
savior of the world. Then we would say
-
also we could it could be said that
-
omniresence is the manifest attribute of
-
the spirit because the spirit is
-
everywhere. Amen. There's no place where
-
he is not found. The psalmist said it
-
this way. He said, "If I ascend up to
-
the wings of the morning or if I make my
-
bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
-
And that is a representation of the
-
spirit of God and his omnipresence. And
-
I would say this, I don't want to limit
-
those attributes to each one of the
-
persons because the truth is all three
-
of the trinity are co-equal, co-eternal,
-
and coexistent. Amen. They all have
-
equal power. They all have equal
-
authority. Amen. And the Bible tells us
-
that. But it is manifest that those
-
attributes are described in that order.
-
And you say, why are you saying all of
-
that, preacher? Well, I understand that
-
it is these truths, the omniscience, the
-
omnipotence, and the omnipresence of the
-
godhead that reveal the allsufficient
-
nature of the Trinity. You say, "What do
-
you mean?" Well, you see, the Trinity
-
has expressed its allsufficient nature
-
to mankind as the answer for our sin
-
problem.
-
>> Amen. You say, "What do you mean?" Well,
-
you see, it's the omniscience of God,
-
that all- knowing part of God that knew
-
man would need a savior. Amen. God the
-
father in eternity past he already knew
-
that man was going to sin. He knew that
-
Adam was going to fall in the garden.
-
And God in his fornowledge, the Bible
-
says that Jesus was crucified in the
-
mind of God even before the foundations
-
of the world. And so God in his
-
omniscience knew that man would need a
-
savior. I want to say that Christ in his
-
omnipotence, it allowed him to be that
-
sinless, spotless savior of all the
-
world. You see, there's never been a man
-
that was able to lay his own life down
-
and take it back up again. There was ne
-
There's never been a man that lived a
-
sinless life. There's never been a man
-
that ascended by his own power into the
-
heaven. What I'm saying is that he is
-
the omnipotent one. He has all power
-
invested in him. And you remember what
-
he told his disciples when he left? He
-
said, "All power is given unto me in
-
heaven and earth." And he said, "I'm
-
going to send you forth as to be a
-
witness to me of this in this present
-
world." And so it is the omnipotence of
-
Christ that allowed him to be the
-
sinless savior of the world. But I want
-
to say this, if it had stopped there, we
-
would still be hopelessly lost. Because
-
it is the omnipresent spirit that
-
indwells every believer once they place
-
their faith and trust in the cleansing
-
blood of the Lord Jesus. And it is the
-
spirit of God that imparts that blood
-
upon our soul. Amen. And saves us by his
-
grace. I'm saying it took the knowledge
-
of God. It took the power of the
-
sacrifice of the son. And it takes the
-
presence of the spirit of God in our
-
life to bring salvation to where we are.
-
Aren't you glad you're saved this
-
morning? I'm saying, friend, if it had
-
not been for the Godhead, desiring to
-
save you and I, we'd still be lost in
-
our sin. But I'm thankful this morning.
-
It is this salvation, the salvation that
-
comes from God, the gospel of Jesus
-
Christ in the presence of the Holy Ghost
-
of God that changes the course of our
-
life and changes everything about who we
-
were before Christ to who we are being
-
made to be now that we are in Christ.
-
>> Amen. You
-
>> say, "What do you mean, preacher?" Well,
-
I'm saying before we were saved, the
-
motions of sins, Paul said, were in our
-
members. But now 2 Corinthians 5 and
-
verse number 21. You remember what Paul
-
said? If any man be in Christ, he's a
-
new creature.
-
>> Old things are passed away and behold,
-
all things are become new.
-
>> You say, "Preacher, what does that have
-
to do with our text this morning?" You
-
see, this salvation that's been imparted
-
to you and I has is making us into the
-
image of Jesus himself. John said it
-
this way in his epistle in 1 John
-
chapter number three. He said, '
-
Beloved, it does not appear what we
-
shall be, but we know that when we shall
-
appear, when he shall appear, we shall
-
be like him,
-
>> for we shall see him as he is. And you
-
say, "Preacher, what does that have to
-
do with this text?" Well, you see, this
-
text reveals to us four principles. I
-
want to give you two of these this
-
morning concerning this matter of
-
salvation in our life and all things
-
what it has to do with. You see, Paul
-
said it best. He said, "If any man be in
-
Christ, he's a new creature. Old things
-
are passed away. Behold, what?
-
>> All things are become new." And I've
-
chosen that verse to connect this
-
thought because the truth is when you
-
get saved, it ain't just your heart that
-
got changed.
-
>> But I'm talking about everything
-
supposed to be changed.
-
>> You're supposed to be different from the
-
inside out. Now, I realize that some of
-
that that's permanent and it's and it's
-
present in the moment of salvation. And
-
I also realize that most of it is
-
progressive. It's going to be fulfilled
-
throughout your life here on the earth.
-
And I want to say this, some of it is
-
yet to come. It's going to be when Jesus
-
comes back, that glorification. But I
-
want to give you these two things this
-
morning if I could. Verse number 28 of
-
Romans 8. The Bible says, Paul said, "We
-
know that all things work together for
-
good to them that love God, to them who
-
are the called according to his
-
purpose." I want to talk to you first of
-
all this matter of all things. I want to
-
talk about the conformity that it
-
produces. Say what do you mean? Well, we
-
notice this all things that's mentioned
-
here in verse number 28. And Paul begins
-
the verse by saying this. He says, "And
-
we know." You say, "What does that
-
mean?" Well, there's an assurance that's
-
involved in this. You see, there is a
-
reality that comes into the heart of
-
somebody who is saved. There's an
-
awareness that you have of certain
-
things. And because you are saved, that
-
awareness is there and there's nothing
-
you can do to get rid of it. I told my
-
wife on yesterday, I said, uh, I was
-
talking about, we was talking about
-
something throughout the day and I said,
-
man, you know, discernment is a is a
-
blessing, but it's a curse. Man, I'm
-
telling you, there's just some things
-
I'm aware of because I'm saved and I
-
really don't want to be.
-
>> But I'm going tell you this, there's
-
there's a lot of things I've been made
-
aware of, and I thank God I've been made
-
aware of.
-
>> You say, "What do you mean?" Well, Paul
-
says, verse 28, "What's he say, church?"
-
And we know that all things work
-
together for good. So first of all, I
-
would say this awareness here in verse
-
number 28 produces a reality that we
-
know about all things. So what do you
-
mean? Well, you see, there's one in us
-
who's what? He's omnisient.
-
>> He lives on the inside. And so he knows
-
all things. And so therefore, him living
-
on the inside, we have an awareness of
-
all things. And what's mentioned in this
-
verse is you see God has ordained it
-
that once we are saved by grace
-
permanently we are sanctified through
-
growth progressively. And it is the
-
blessing of the Christian life to know
-
that we are destined for Christ
-
likeness. And that's what this verse is
-
talking about. He says we know that all
-
things work together for good. Notice
-
that they work together for good. You
-
know what that you know what that means?
-
That literally means that it's fruitful
-
in your life.
-
>> Now I want to say this. This verse does
-
not mean that everything in our life has
-
to everything that goes on in our world
-
is good.
-
>> There's been a lot of people that will
-
say that you know u you know sin will
-
come about and in their family or
-
something like well we know all things
-
work. That's that's misapplied.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> You see for all things to work together
-
for good those all things have to be
-
good.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> And let me ask you something. What is
-
our works? Bible says our righteousness
-
is as what? filthy rags,
-
>> filthy rags. And so we are to exchange
-
them for his righteousness. And so what
-
is his righteousness? Well, that's a
-
providence. That's a that's provided by
-
the Lord. And so if all things are good,
-
notice that we know that all things work
-
together for good. This awareness is of
-
those who believe, those who are saved.
-
We also know that all these things must
-
work together for our advancement.
-
>> What do you mean? You say, "Well, they
-
work for good." You say, "How do you
-
know that?" Well, notice the last phrase
-
of verse 27.
-
He says he's talking about the
-
intercession of Jesus in verse 27. He
-
that searchth the hearts, that's Jesus,
-
knoweth what is the mind of the spirit.
-
Because he, Jesus, maketh intercession
-
for the saints according to what?
-
>> According to the will of God. You see,
-
there can't there's nothing in your life
-
that can advance you if it's outside the
-
will of God.
-
>> That's right. And so this is what I want
-
to give you this morning. Instead of
-
saying that all things work together for
-
good, you this is what you should say.
-
Everything that comes from God works for
-
your good. Say, what do you mean? Well,
-
let me just give you some instances
-
here. Matthew Henry said this. He says,
-
it says that all things work together
-
for good. He said that is all the
-
providences of God that concern them.
-
Notice that all things can't work
-
together for good for somebody who's
-
lost. That's right. Amen.
-
>> You see, if you're not saved this
-
morning, there's no goodness that you
-
even know about.
-
>> You might have a head knowledge of
-
salvation, and you might be aware of
-
some facts about Christianity, but the
-
truth is goodness comes from him. James
-
said it this way. He said, "Every good
-
gift and every perfect gift cometh down
-
from the father of lights." He said, "In
-
whom is no variableness, neither shadow
-
of turning." And he has ordained it to
-
be such that if you're going to possess
-
his goodness, he has to put it into you.
-
>> You can't attain it. And so this
-
advancement must come from God. He said
-
all that God performs, he performs for
-
them. I want to say this. It's true that
-
not all the things we do for ourselves
-
or all things done to us by others are
-
always good. Wouldn't you agree with
-
that? This verse is only true because of
-
God's providence.
-
Let me ask you something.
-
That sin that people say, "Well, all
-
things work together for good after it's
-
over." Let me ask you something. Did God
-
provide that?
-
>> No.
-
>> It can't be good then, can it?
-
>> It can't advance you. You say,
-
"Preacher, what about the learning from
-
that?" Well, you see, God is the one
-
that teaches you the lesson.
-
>> If a sinner turns from the error of
-
their way, it's because God's going to
-
have to show them to.
-
>> That's right. It ain't the sin that was
-
good,
-
>> but it was God using what they chose to
-
show them they're wrong. So, it's not
-
the sin. Well, let me say this. You see,
-
sin is never provided by God. I want to
-
say this. Suffering is provided by God
-
at times. Say, what do you mean? Well,
-
suffering is not always from God. Peter
-
said it this way. 1 Peter 3:1 17, I
-
encourage you put it in your margin. For
-
it is better if the will of God be so
-
that you suffer for welloing than for
-
evildoing. Listen to what he says. If
-
the will of God be so. If God doesn't
-
want you to suffer and you're suffering,
-
well, that's not benefiting you.
-
>> That's not advancing you. But the Bible
-
also says, Peter said, "Let them that
-
suffer according to the will of God
-
commit themselves their keeping as unto
-
a faithful creator." That God knows
-
about your suffering.
-
He said this. He said this in one place.
-
He said, "What good is it if you be
-
buffeted for your faults?" That's not
-
helping you any. You're getting the
-
punishment of your sin. Suffering is
-
suffering for righteousness. If you are
-
suffering because of sin, that's
-
punishment.
-
>> You say, "PREACHER, BUT IT SAYS ALL
-
THINGS work together for good." It's all
-
things from God. Notice it again, verse
-
27. According to the will of God.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> Those things that are from him. You say,
-
"Preacher, would cancer be from him?"
-
Let me ask you something. Does sin come
-
from God?
-
Does God permit sin in the world?
-
Does God teach men lessons by their
-
ailments?
-
You see, it's not the element that's
-
from God, but it might be the lesson
-
he's wanting you to learn because of
-
that.
-
Now, I want to say this this morning. We
-
understand. He says this in verse 28.
-
You say, "Preacher, I don't understand
-
what you're getting at." You see, well,
-
the truth is sin is never provided by
-
God. Suffering is at times. So, here's
-
what you need to do. You need to mark
-
suffering off the list.
-
Say, "What do you mean?" Well, you going
-
to have to choose to look to God beyond
-
that because there are some things that
-
you can be sure about that's from God.
-
Say, "What do you mean?" Well,
-
suffering's not always from the Lord.
-
Sin never is. Let me be real with you.
-
The spirit of God, Amen. The salvation
-
that's in your heart and the scriptures
-
are directly provided by who?
-
>> So, you know what? They're always good.
-
>> You know what? It's good for the
-
advancement of your Christianity.
-
>> Notice it again. We know that all things
-
work together for good. They are
-
fruitful, profitable for you. Notice who
-
he says. It's probably two. There's an
-
awareness. There's an advancement. But
-
notice the affection that's mentioned in
-
verse 28. for good to them that what?
-
That love God. That's right.
-
>> You know what Jesus told his disciples?
-
He said, "If you love me, what'd he say?
-
Keep my commandments."
-
>> You want to know if you love him or not?
-
Do you keep his commandments? You see,
-
we always want to go off of word. We
-
always want to go off of what people
-
say. Well, I love the Lord, preacher.
-
Well, I'm I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing
-
it.
-
>> Come on.
-
The truth is Jesus defines your love not
-
by WHAT YOU SAY BUT HOW YOU LIVE.
-
>> And he reveals to us in this text, he
-
says, "All things work together for good
-
to them that love God." That's the
-
number one stipulation.
-
>> So if you love him, you keep his
-
commandments, then and only then,
-
>> amen,
-
>> does all things work for your good.
-
That's
-
>> right. Amen.
-
>> You know the reason why there's
-
missionaries in third world countries
-
today that aren't starving to death in
-
spite of all the odds being stacked
-
against them? because they're in the
-
center of the God's will and they love
-
him.
-
>> And you know what? God puts food on
-
their table.
-
>> God provides their needs.
-
>> And the reason we struggle is because
-
we're not where God told us to be.
-
>> Look what he said. To them that love
-
God. You see, it is the inward affection
-
of the believer that gives him the
-
opportunity to have all things work for
-
good. You say, "What do you mean?" It
-
makes it possible. If you don't love
-
him, you can't have everything work for
-
good in your life.
-
>> Because if you don't love him, you're
-
not going to be able to look beyond your
-
trial and see the truth.
-
>> You're not going to be able to look
-
beyond the the gore and and the and the
-
agony that you're facing and see God.
-
>> You have to love him to do that.
-
>> But it's not only the opportunity,
-
that's the inward affection that gives
-
us the opportunity to have all things
-
work for good. But it's also this inward
-
affection that gives us the ability to
-
look beyond and see God at work. It
-
makes it possible, but it also makes it
-
perceivable. If you don't love God,
-
God's not going to do it for you. But if
-
you don't love God, you won't be able to
-
see God do it for you.
-
Say, "What do you mean?" Well, notice
-
the verse again. Verse 28. To them who
-
are the what? The called. To them that
-
love God. To them who are the called
-
according to his purpose. Man, we love
-
Romans 8:28. and I have just destroyed
-
it for you.
-
But I'm going to tell you the truth this
-
morning.
-
Those things that work good in your life
-
are described by that last phrase,
-
according to his
-
>> purpose. We We love Psalm 37:4. Delight
-
thyself also in the Lord. He'll give the
-
desires of thine heart. That don't mean
-
what you think it does.
-
It means that God and his purposes
-
>> can make all things work for good in
-
your life if you allow him to put it in
-
there.
-
>> You see, our life is meant to be lived
-
with an open hand.
-
Some of you are holding on to things
-
this morning. And God cannot get a hold
-
of that. You say, "Preacher, God can get
-
a hold of it." He can, but he's not
-
going to because he ain't going to work
-
against your will. You have to have an
-
open hand so God can put in what he
-
wants and take out what he wants. And
-
you know what? You don't need to say
-
nothing when he puts in takes out what
-
he does.
-
>> That's his purpose.
-
>> That's his plan. YOU SAY, "PREACHER, I
-
WANT ALL THINGS TO WORK FOR GOOD."
-
>> Open your hands.
-
>> That's your mind.
-
If he gets your mind, you know what
-
he'll have? He'll have your money.
-
>> Truth is, you don't that don't any of
-
that belong to you.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> You're not your own. Remember when Paul
-
said, "You're not your own. You are
-
bought with a price."
-
>> You are to surrender yourself. You say,
-
"Preacher, I want everything to work for
-
good, all things
-
to him.
-
If you want all things to work together
-
for good, you've got to allow him to
-
have hold of all things."
-
There is in this verse here, we mention
-
the conformity that's produced. This is
-
a sanctifying growth. If you keeping
-
notes, it's a sanctifying growth.
-
And and I I quoted this already, but
-
I'll give you this verse again. He said
-
1 John 3:2 and three, beloved, now are
-
we the sons of God. And it does not yet
-
appear what we shall be, but we know
-
that when he shall appear, we shall be
-
like him, for we shall see him as he is.
-
In verse three, I didn't quote this a
-
while ago. John said this, "And every
-
man that hath this hope in him purifith
-
himself."
-
If you believe that when he comes and
-
you see him, you going to be changed.
-
You're going to want to get as close to
-
that changed image as you can.
-
>> When Jesus comes back, I don't want him
-
to have to change a whole lot
-
>> other than this body.
-
>> You get what I'm saying? I don't want
-
him to have to teach me how to worship.
-
I don't want him to have to teach me how
-
to shout. I don't want him to have to
-
teach me that book. He's given me that
-
book and the Holy Ghost to learn that
-
book.
-
>> I should know it to the best of my
-
ability. Now, I know he's going to have
-
to change a whole lot, but there's going
-
to be a lot of people that go into
-
heaven, they going to have no idea about
-
nothing's going on there cuz they did
-
not allow God to work all things for
-
their good.
-
We want God to work things for our good,
-
but we don't want him to get glory out
-
of it. You see, for him to get glory,
-
it's got to be his will.
-
>> Notice this. We see the conformity
-
produced. Verse number 28.
-
You see, I don't see that conformity.
-
Well, notice verse 29. For whom he did
-
forno, he also did predestinate to be
-
what? Conformed to the image of his son.
-
It's there.
-
He determined in his in his mind, in his
-
heart before the foundation of the
-
world. When Jesus died, he he
-
predetermined those that would be saved
-
to be conformed to Jesus. For you to
-
look like him, for you to act like him,
-
for you to talk like him. He predestined
-
that. You say, "Preacher, he predestined
-
my salvation." No, that's not what I
-
said. He predestined all those that were
-
that get saved, that choose to be saved.
-
He predestined them to be made into the
-
image of Jesus. And you know what?
-
That's going to happen.
-
>> Whether on this side or over there,
-
there's going to be people that, man,
-
they lived an awful life on this side.
-
They were saved. You know what? When
-
they get over there, they're going to be
-
made into his image because they were
-
saved.
-
>> That's hard for me to preach, but the
-
truth is, they're going to be ashamed.
-
I hate to run rabbits, but I need to
-
listen to 1 John 2.
-
1 John 2, one of my favorite verses.
-
Love this verse. 1 John 2, verse number
-
28.
-
And now, little children, abide in him,
-
that when he shall appear, we may have
-
what? Confidence and not be ashamed
-
before him at his coming.
-
You want all things to work together for
-
good. You don't have to give him all
-
things.
-
Say, "Preacher, I don't have much." He's
-
just asking for all you got.
-
He'll give you more than you ever had.
-
>> Somebody say amen right there.
-
>> That's where we're going next. Notice
-
this. Number two, I'm I'll be done here
-
this morning. We've considered the
-
conformity that's produced this
-
sanctifying growth. In verse number 28,
-
we are being made into his image. They
-
work together for our advancement, not
-
to make us feel better, but to make us
-
better for him.
-
I want to be better for him.
-
>> Not for me.
-
>> Notice this verse 32.
-
You may not have shouted on that one,
-
but you ought to on this one. You see,
-
number one, the conformity produced.
-
Number two, notice the commitment that's
-
promised. Verse 32. He that spared not
-
his own son, but delivered him up for us
-
all. How shall he not with him also
-
freely give us all things? You say,
-
preacher, what does all that mean? Well,
-
you see here he's talking about the
-
Christian life, the miracle of
-
redemption. You remember I was talking
-
about the omniscience, omnipresence,
-
omnipotence of God expressed to us the
-
trinity's
-
works and how that they are able to
-
save. Look what the Bible said in verse
-
32. He that spared not his own son. So
-
there's two mentioned there, isn't
-
there? It's God the Father. He that
-
spared not his own son, Jesus Christ.
-
Notice what it said in the verse. But
-
delivered him up for us all. How did he
-
deliver him?
-
The spirit of God. The Bible says what
-
Gabriel tell Mary. He said, "The Holy
-
Ghost, the power of the highest shall
-
come over. Holy Ghost shall overshadow.
-
The power of the highest shall come over
-
thee." You know the verse I'm talking
-
about. That holy thing shall be born of
-
thee. shall be called the son of God.
-
So God the father through the holy ghost
-
sent God the son into the world. Notice
-
the verse. But delivered him up for us.
-
Who? All.
-
You say, "What is that?" Number one,
-
there's the sacrifice of the son in this
-
commitment. You see, the miracle of the
-
Christian life is that all things are
-
meant to sanctify us in our life.
-
Everything that comes through God's will
-
is meant to draw us closer to him.
-
Wouldn't you agree with that? But number
-
two, there's a supply described as all
-
things that is offered to us in Christ.
-
You see, the sacrifice of the son is
-
expressed to us because the value of the
-
son is higher than anything else that
-
exists.
-
Do you realize that Jesus is more
-
valuable than anything that's real?
-
>> Amen.
-
>> You take the worth of everything else
-
that is and you put it up beside Jesus
-
and it's worthless.
-
>> Right?
-
>> But what does the Bible say? But he sp
-
he that spared not his own son. The most
-
valuable thing that he had, he didn't
-
spare it. Why did he do that? Why why
-
did he not spare his son? He did that
-
because God deemed your soul worth
-
saving. So he gave his son and his son
-
gave his life. And you know what? The
-
spirit is imparting that life into you.
-
>> Listen to this now. Colossians chapter
-
one.
-
Colossians chapter 1:13, who had
-
delivered us from the power of darkness,
-
had translated us into the kingdom of
-
his dear son. Verse 14, in whom we have
-
redemption through his blood, even the
-
forgiveness of sins, who is the image of
-
the invisible God, the firstborn of
-
every creature. For by him were all
-
things created that are in heaven, that
-
are in earth, visible and invisible,
-
whether they be thrones or dominions or
-
principalities or powers. All things
-
were created by him and for him. And he
-
is before all things. And by him all
-
things consist. And he is the head of
-
the body, the church, who is the
-
beginning, the firstborn from the dead.
-
Notice this. That in all things he might
-
have the preeminence. God allowed Jesus
-
to die for your SINS BECAUSE HE VALUED
-
YOUR SOUL greater than he valued his
-
son.
-
>> Some of you going to choke on that just
-
now.
-
>> But the truth is, he sent his son to
-
die.
-
>> That's right.
-
>> For you.
-
>> Amen.
-
for you. But God commanded this love
-
toward us in that while we were yet
-
sinners, Christ died for us. Notice
-
this. You see, the son gave his life for
-
us all. That sacrifice leads us to see
-
the supply in verse 32. But delivered
-
him up for us all, how how shall he not
-
with him also freely give us all things?
-
Let me ask you this question. If while
-
you were lost in your sin, helpless,
-
hopeless, and bound for hell without
-
God, if while you were lost in your sin,
-
worthless to the world, worthless to
-
God, worthless to anything, we we don't
-
have nothing to offer. If while you were
-
in that state, God sent Jesus to die,
-
>> let me ask you something. Now that
-
you're saved, now that you belong to
-
him, he's given you the thing that's
-
worth more than anything else.
-
>> Say, what do you mean? That's Jesus. And
-
he gave you that while you were lost.
-
>> He gave you the highest cost thing in
-
existence
-
>> while you were lost. And this is what he
-
says. How shall he not with him give us
-
all things? If God will give us the
-
greatest thing while we're in our sin,
-
why would he keep the lesser things from
-
us after that we're saved?
-
>> You say, "What does that mean?" That's
-
the promise of God's faithfulness.
-
You see, when God saved you, he was
-
committed.
-
>> Oh, bless his name. He was committed,
-
friend, BECAUSE HE GAVE THE MOST
-
EXPENSIVE THING HE HAD. AND OH, BLESS
-
HIS NAME. HE KNEW HE WASN'T GETTING
-
NOTHING IN RETURN. OH, BUT THANK GOD,
-
HE'S COMMITTED TO YOU AND I, AND HE'S
-
PROMISED US EVERYTHING. PETER SAID IT
-
THIS WAY. HE HAS GIVEN US ALL THINGS
-
THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS.
-
WE'RE NOT LACKING ANYTHING THIS MORNING.
-
BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE JESUS, SOMEBODY HELP
-
ME PREACH. YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING. AMEN.
-
BECAUSE LOOK WHAT HE SAID IN THE VERSE.
-
HE SAID IN VERSE 32, "HOW SHALL HE NOT?"
-
WHAT'S THEM NEXT TWO WORDS? With him.
-
With him also freely give us all things.
-
>> You say, "Preacher, what does that
-
mean?" Well, if you got Jesus, you know
-
what? You got everything.
-
>> You've got all you need.
-
>> Some of you are struggling. Some of US
-
ARE STRUGGLING THIS MORNING. BUT THE
-
TRUTH IS, IF YOU'RE SAVED, YOU GOT ALL
-
you need.
-
>> He'll take care of you.
-
>> Listen to this now. Listen to this. All
-
right. The supply is seen in the phrase
-
with him. Jesus is everything. So if we
-
get him, everything comes with him. It's
-
expressed by the value of the son. If
-
God would freely give his son, let me
-
tell you something. He would give the
-
greatest gift for our salvation. Surely
-
he would give the lesser gifts needed
-
for our sustaining. Paul said it this
-
way in Ephesians 1 and verse 22 and
-
that's put all things under his feet and
-
gave him to be the head over all things
-
to the church which is his body the
-
fullness of him that filleth all and
-
all. John the Baptist said in John 1 and
-
verse 16 and of his fullness have all we
-
received and grace for grace. You see
-
he's given us everything. Say what do
-
you mean? I'm saying if he saved you you
-
got it all.
-
If that don't excite you, I got nothing
-
for you this morning.
-
>> Of his fullness have all we received,
-
and grace for grace, grace heaped upon
-
grace. Philippians 4:19, but my God
-
shall supply all your need according to
-
what? His riches and glory by Christ
-
Jesus,
-
the omnipotent one. He has given us his
-
grace, his supply, his store. IT'S IN
-
OUR LIFE BECAUSE HE'S PUT IT THERE.
-
>> AMEN.
-
>> The promise.
-
Say, "What is that?" It's sustaining
-
grace.
-
He saved you.
-
He's wanting to sanctify you in your
-
growth. First Peter 5:18, believe it is,
-
but grow in grace in the knowledge of
-
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He's
-
wanting you to grow, but he's WANTING TO
-
PROVIDE for you.
-
>> Man, so many of you are living below
-
your means. I'm not talking about money.
-
I'm talking about spiritually. You're
-
starving to death.
-
>> You come in here and you're shriveled
-
up. Why?
-
God has has given you more. AND MAN,
-
IT'S LIKE SITTING at a feast and you're
-
starving.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> You have the supply of all of heaven.
-
>> It's been said God bankrupted glory to
-
send his son for us.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> And he did.
-
>> He sent Jesus in yourstead. But you know
-
what? He saved you and now he's wanting
-
to impart that goodness, that fullness
-
that's in him into your life.
-
You say, "What do I have, preacher?" I
-
want to say this. The supply we're given
-
substantial.
-
>> It's more than substantial. It's
-
sufficient.
-
>> For our needs. You say, "What do you
-
mean?" Well, I'll just give you this and
-
I'm done. We have his provision.
-
Everything that God has, we have.
-
Second Peter 1:3, according as his
-
divine power hath given unto us all
-
things that pertain unto life and
-
godliness through the knowledge of him
-
that hath called us to glory and virtue.
-
We have his provision. We don't only
-
have his provision, we have his power.
-
You say, "What do you mean?" I'm talking
-
about the power of that omnipotent one.
-
>> Acts chapter 1 verse number eight, he
Acts 1 chapter mention
-
said, "Ye shall receive power." Matthew
-
27, he said, "All power is given unto me
-
in heaven and earth." Acts chapter one,
-
ye shall receive power. After that, the
-
Holy Ghost has come upon you.
-
>> You have his power.
-
Let me say this. You have his people.
-
You're without excuse, man.
-
You You have his provision. He's given
-
you everything that you need to live a
-
Christian life. You have his power
-
inside of you because you can't live it
-
yourself. He's given you the power to
-
live it. He's given you the instruction
-
to live it by and the inspiration to
-
live it with. But he's also given you
-
his people. He's given you some
-
individuals TO STAY BY YOUR SIDE.
-
>> SAY, "How how can you prove that?" Well,
-
Paul said this. 1 Corinthians 3:21,
-
"Therefore, let no man glory in men."
-
What does he say after that? For all
-
things are yours.
-
They're divided over who they're
-
following. But let me say this. Paul
-
said in verse 22, "Whether Paul or
-
Apollos or Cphus or the world or life or
-
death or things present or things to
-
come, all are yours."
-
>> We're here for your benefit.
-
Some of you are starving to death for
-
fellowship. And there's people with it
-
literally dripping off of them wanting
-
to talk to you and be a friend to you
-
and love on you.
-
People that love God. I'm saying you're
-
starving to death and it's right in
-
front of you.
-
>> Amen.
-
You've got everything.
-
Paul told that church, he said, "It's
-
all yours." He said, "All of us are
-
yours,
-
church. I'm not pumping myself up. I'm
-
telling you, we've had some of the best
-
preaching come through this place in the
-
last two years. Them preachers that's
-
brought in here. I don't I don't just
-
get anybody.
-
Those men are the greatest men in the
-
world. You've had the best. Why aren't
-
we starving?"
-
>> We've got everything.
-
Why is YOUR MARRIAGE FALLING APART?
-
YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING.
-
WHY IS YOUR FAMILY? WHY IS THERE SIN IN
-
YOUR LIFE? YOU'VE GOT EVERYTHING. YOU
-
HAVE NO EXCUSE.
-
>> If that's not enough,
-
we have his provision. We have his
-
power. We have his people. We have his
-
precepts.
-
Second Peter 1 19. We have also a more
-
sure word of prophecy. where until you
-
do well that you take heed as until a
-
light that shineth in a dark place until
-
the day dawn the day star rise in your
-
hearts. I'm going to tell you if there's
-
ever been a generation of people that
-
has no excuse to be godly and to live a
-
Christian life it's us.
-
>> We have everything.
-
You say, "What do you mean?" I said, "My
-
message is all things."
-
You see, the thing is,
-
one person said it this way, and you've
-
heard it said on a more less less
-
serious note, more funny note, man. You
-
go places anymore and and everybody
-
tells me the same thing, Brother Shane,
-
Brother Doug, Brother Todd, they all
-
tell me the same thing. You go in a
-
place of business and they say something
-
like this. Well, it's not a supply
-
problem.
-
You know what the problem is? Ain't
-
nobody working.
-
That's right.
-
>> The supply is there.
-
>> Yeah, that's right.
-
>> The tools are there. The equipment's
-
there. The job is there open for
-
somebody to take it. It's not a supply
-
problem. You know what the problem is?
-
It's a soul problem.
-
>> It's a saint problem. Where they at?
-
It's not a supply problem. You say, "Why
-
is that?" You see, there's not a supply
-
problem. And really, this is what this
-
is what it is. It's a sanctity problem
-
is what it is. Nobody's holy. You see,
-
if we'll get holy, then you can find
-
help.
-
If you'll decide this morning to get
-
holy, you'll find help and you can find
-
hope. But it's only going to come on
-
terms of getting holy
-
because the truth is we got everything.
-
Wrote this in the end of my outline. The
-
last phrase I wrote it and I wrote it in
-
tears when I topped it out.
-
We truly have all things.
-
>> Yes, we do.
-
>> Amen.
-
>> I wrote topped it out in tears.
-
Our churches look anorexic
-
and we got everything.
-
>> We have the best tools. We have the best
-
truth. Man, there's preaching going on
-
this day and time that our forefathers
-
dreamed about preaching. There's things
-
that we understand now. There's things
-
that I understand as a young man because
-
of the writers that have left their
-
works behind that spent their life
-
studying the word of God. There's things
-
that I understand because they spent
-
their life studying it and they've given
-
it to me and I understand it because
-
they spent their life doing it and we
-
preach it. And man, it's just like,
-
well,
-
they spent their life infatuated with
-
it.
-
And we can't figure out where the
-
problem is. I'll tell you where the
-
problem is. says is he's got all things.
-
This is where it comes down to. We've
-
not placed all of our things
-
before him.
-
>> You see, many of us will say the
-
statement, I say it all the time. I love
-
the statement. Beautiful statement. In
-
my hand, no price I bring. Simply to the
-
cross I cling. And we'll say that while
-
our hands sitting full of stuff.
-
Say, "Preacher, I'm not counting on that
-
to get me to heaven." Well, why you
-
carrying it?
-
What else matters?
-
>> Preacher, I have a job. Well, is it what
-
you need for your job
-
or is it just something extra?
-
It's just something take your time away.
-
We're given to this thing called
-
pastimes. We're given to this thing of
-
recreation. We're given to And look,
-
look, look. I'm not against it, okay?
-
I'm not. But I'm against it when it
-
becomes your God. Amen.
-
>> When nothing else matters, when you can
-
throw any other plan in the trash
-
because of that, that's what's
-
controlling you.
-
>> You've got all things. We truly have all
-
things. Let me ask you, how much of it
-
do you know about?
-
It was said, I seen a thing this week.
-
Every head's bowed and every eyes
-
closed. I seen a thing this week. Matter
-
of fact, just come up yesterday.
-
gentleman. I believe he hiked like 18
-
hours, I think it was, into a mine
-
somewhere out west and said there was $2
-
billion worth of gold in that mine that
-
nobody was ever going to get. Nobody was
-
ever going to go in there and tap into
-
it.
-
And he walked in there and looked around
-
and even said you could see traces of
-
it.
-
But this is what captivated my mind. He
-
said about that mine, he said that mine
-
started most of the gold exploits in the
-
west.
-
He said it started people to searching
-
and mining for gold. He said but it shut
-
down and nobody will ever go back there.
-
You know what the tragedy is of the
-
church in this day and time. Our
-
forefathers started a mine
-
and we know where the gold's at.
-
Matter of fact, we know how much is
-
there.
-
But somewhere along the way, somebody
-
said, "Well, we just not going to do
-
that."
-
And you know what? Really, that's the
-
only thing keeping you from getting it.
-
Listening to somebody that said, "Well,
-
we're just not going to do that." Say,
-
"Preacher, well, I've never done that."
-
Well, here's the thing about it. There
-
come a day in history when some somebody
-
before you said something like this,
-
"Well, we're not going to do that
-
anymore."
-
And you know what? Because there was a
-
generation that said, "We're not going
-
to do that anymore." Now there's a
-
generation that says, "We've never done
-
that.
-
And now there's going to be a generation
-
after that that says something like
-
this. We don't even know what that is.
-
>> And before you know it, the church is
-
gone.
-
>> Miss Amber's going to begin to play. I
-
wonder, do you need to come?
-
All things are yours.
-
It's for your sanctifying growth.
-
I want to say this.
-
He wants to sustain you today.
-
He wants to set you apart and be
-
different.
-
I want to ask you, are you tired of the
-
sin you're living in? You tired of it?
-
You see, you'll never know what any of
-
this is about until you get saved.
-
You never know that.
-
You'll never know what it's like to
-
watch God provide for your needs when
-
you're not able to do it for yourself.
-
You'll never know what it's like to be
-
satisfied when there's literally no
-
reason in the flesh to be satisfied. I
-
tell you what I've found. I' I've been
-
saved since I was seven. And I've been
-
preaching since I was 15, which really
-
ain't been a long time. But I tell you
-
what I found. They don't nothing in this
-
world satisfy me. Nothing. Say,
-
"Preacher, you're just spoiled." And I
-
agree with you. I am. God's been better
-
than good to me.
-
If you'd be honest, you're spoiled, too,
-
if you're saved.
-
Cuz you know what he said?
-
How shall he not with him freely?
-
You know what spoiled children get? They
-
get things for free.
-
Oh, we're spoiled.
-
God, help us.
-
He's given us everything.
-
Everything.
-
Maybe you want to come thank him this
-
morning. You should.
-
Some have come, others need to come.
-
If you're here today and you're not
-
saved, just come. I'm going to tell you,
-
it's so much better on this side. It's
-
so much better.
-
It is so much better.
-
There's people in this church testify
-
you today, sinner. He's given us
-
everything.
-
So much.
-
Say, preacher, you got everything you
-
want, man. In my flesh, I'll never have
-
everything I want. But you know what?
-
That's depraved.
-
That flesh don't want nothing but to
-
benefit itself. I want tell you in the
-
spirit of God in my heart this morning,
-
I'm satisfied.
-
I am satisfied.
-
He has been so good to me. I bless his
-
name.
-
Said, "Preacher, how can you say that?
-
I'm not in hell, friend.
-
>> I ought to be there, friend. I ought to
-
be there.
-
And if you're here this morning, you can
-
hear my voice. Or maybe you're listening
-
over the internet somewhere in days to
-
come. If you're still here, God has been
-
good to you.
-
>> God has been good to you. Say,
-
"Preacher, he ain't never done a thing
-
for me. He ain't put you in hell yet.
-
>> He has been better than good to you."
-
>> Father, I pray in Jesus name.
-
Lord, I thank you for all things this
-
morning.
-
God, I realize that
-
everything that comes from your hand,
-
it's meant for my good.
-
But Lord, I also realize that there's
-
many times, God, the things that you
-
have sent my way, even from your hand,
-
Lord, that me in my sinful state, I
-
don't receive them the right way. and
-
something that was meant for my good
-
begins to hinder me.
-
Lord, would you help me,
-
God, to see, Father, the things that you
-
send my way and to make sure that I'm
-
handling them right?
-
God, I pray for that person here today
-
that's struggling, Father, they're just
-
asking why.
-
And Lord, I don't believe it's a sin to
-
ask why.
-
Jesus on the cross asked why.
-
Lord, he knew the answer.
-
The truth is, Lord,
-
many times we know the answer.
-
God, you tell us, Lord, just to come to
-
you.
-
And Lord, our life on this side may be
-
miserable in the flesh, but God, I'm so
-
thankful that
-
Lord, we can have joy in our heart that
-
goes beyond the circumstances of our
-
flesh
-
that last.
-
Long after the new experiences are gone,
-
long after all of that niceness wears
-
off,
-
God, we can just stick in there and stay
-
by the stuff and be blessed.
-
God, would you help us to do that? Lord,
-
you want to supply our needs. But God,
-
it's only if we'll be sanctified.
-
Draw us near to you, I pray.
-
And I ask God, you bless the service
-
tonight. We'll thank you and praise you
-
for what you do. Cuz we ask it in Jesus
-
name. God's children said,
-
>> "Amen."
-
>> Amen.
-
