Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the First Samuel Bible
-
Study with Matthew and Rachel. I hope everybody enjoyed the
-
Psalm 24 Bible Study. Boy, that got deep today for
-
10 verses, didn't it?
-
Yeah, it did.
-
Really good stuff. I strongly suggest that you check that
-
out if and when you can, if you wish to
-
be edified. And only if you wish to be edified.
-
If you don't wish to be edified, by all means,
-
go somewhere else. So here in Samuel 24, this is
-
really a sequence of what is to come. It begins
-
in 23. We've already did that. so that being said, um, what's,
-
what's your thoughts about Samuel 24, our, the, well, what
-
do you think?
-
Hmm.
-
Hmm.
-
I don't know.
-
Like, my thoughts.
-
Well, in the previous chapter, in the previous chapter, um,
-
He's in the wilderness, right? The Philistines attack a city
-
and he goes and delivers that city. And God warns him. Boy,
-
should I say, I'm going to speak prophetically. Boy, that
-
church building you're in, they're going to hand you up
-
to the Antichrist. So David asked the Lord, what should
-
I do? Where should I go?
-
Okay.
-
So that's the preface for this, that The people in
-
your congregation, they are going to hand you over to
-
the Antichrist. Now, we get, now in chapter 24, the
-
Antichrist is delivered into the church's hands. And the church doesn't, well,
-
let's find out what the church does. So this is
-
extremely prophetic that everybody realizes that this is going to
-
work out in real time. And what comes at the
-
end of this secret, what comes at the end of
-
the birth pangs is this. So, that's where this is
-
all going. And if you can't see it, well, all
-
we can do is, all I can say is this.
-
If Jesus Christ was crucified in 30 AD, Rachel, it
-
is prophesied by Zachariah that this very 30 days, the
-
30 days between October the 10th and November the 10th,
-
those that have been water baptized into a congregation, they
-
have the opportunity to stop sinning Stop insulting the spirit
-
of grace. And get baptized in the Holy Spirit.
-
So.
-
I'm probably going to talk about a whole lot. Last
-
time I couldn't. I didn't share a fraction of what
-
I could share.
-
But.
-
Everything is only beautiful in its time. So. If you're
-
new to this. Just set back and absorb it. Because
-
there's a lot. There's a huge going on in the
-
first two verses here. What this says that David did
-
and where David goes, it's off the rails. It's just,
-
it's pretty cool.
-
I just, I guess I should point out that this is,
-
I was thinking this was going to be more like
-
a 101 Bible study, but it's not really. It It's
-
not completely advanced. It's more like 102. Because I could
-
very much see somebody who's never read the Bible through
-
to be completely confused here. If you have never read
-
1 Samuel ever, just for a first reading, just for
-
what it is... then what we're doing is you're going
-
to be really lost. Yeah.
-
You'll be clueless.
-
Yeah. So this is really more.
-
Like 1 Samuel 1.02 because 1 Samuel 1.01 should be
-
private study.
-
You just open it up. Just read it. for what
-
it is then when you come back then you can
-
go through our videos and this study and see where
-
all the prophecy is because this really did happen this
-
was something in history that really actually happened so it's
-
not only prophecy this is a really this is like
-
a historical it's historical but it's also spiritual so so
-
because it it was um Because of the spiritual aspect
-
to it. There is hidden gems. What the millennials will
-
call an Easter egg. There's Easter eggs.
-
David was an Easter egg. That's the whole point. David
-
is in the.
-
There's little mystery packets throughout... every book of the Bible.
-
Okay.
-
So, so, but this is an interesting story of its own.
-
Right.
-
Of its own. It is interesting. And to know that
-
it really happened is a really good book to read.
-
So if you've never read it, you're going to be
-
really lost with what we're doing here.
-
Oh yeah.
-
Because you'll be lost. Um, even with me, like I
-
have very limited knowledge of the scriptures, but I have
-
read the Bible through and from cover to cover and
-
certain books of the Bible multiple times. So if, so
-
even with that, there's a lot here.
-
In defense of myself, The one who got deep last
-
time was you, not me.
-
So... Well, it's just amazing how, you know, sometimes just
-
a different perspective, people will see things, you know, that
-
are helpful.
-
I will say this. I will state this with authority.
-
This is a historical review of the future.
-
Right, right. And you may be able to see these...
-
You might be able to see the Easter eggs... in
-
your first reading. You might be able to find some.
-
All I'm saying, if you're finding yourself very, very confused
-
with what we're doing here, stop and just read 1 Samuel.
-
Just read it for what it is. And then come
-
back and go through our videos. I agree.
-
I agree wholeheartedly. Alright, so... Let's get this underway. Go
-
for it, Rich.
-
Now, it happened when Saul had returned from following the
-
Philistines that it was told him, saying, Take note. David
-
is in the wilderness of En Gedi. I thought that
-
was an interesting way to put it. Take note. Mm-hmm.
-
What is... You know, there's something there. I didn't know
-
what it was, but it's like... It just seems like
-
there's something there. Okay. Then Saul took 3,000 chosen men
-
from all Israel and went to seek David and his
-
men on the rocks of the wild goats. Like as
-
if we're supposed to know where that is. Because we've
-
never heard that before so far.
-
Okay.
-
Think about it. This is just the first two verses.
-
I know. Okay. Really?
-
Really?
-
Okay, first off. Take note. If Matthew chapter 24, verse
-
15 isn't screaming out to you, I don't know what is.
-
Where Jesus, you know, Jesus says, you know, whenever you
-
see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel,
-
he who reads, let him understand. Okay, that's... It's incredible.
-
It's incredible. So what do you make of this? I
-
don't know. The rocks of the wild goats.
-
The rocks of the wild goats. Well, I'm just thinking,
-
you know, Jesus is going to separate the sheep from
-
the goats. So these are the wild goats. That's all
-
that came into my mind. I was like, that is
-
just really like supposed to be an easy Easter egg,
-
but not. It's like one of those.
-
Well, look at this. This is what I see. Okay.
-
I see this as another proper name for the place prepared.
-
When we go there, Do not be misled. We are
-
as described as Revelation chapter 7 verses 9 through 17.
-
We will be given our hinds feet. Do you not
-
understand when we get there because we have been given
-
our hinds feet and walking our high places we now
-
have the power to obliterate our enemies.
-
Yeah.
-
Yes. Oh, yes, we do.
-
And also, I was just interested, like, okay, when you
-
read that, what is the Hebrew? Because I know that
-
in some places, sheep and goats are all kind of
-
in a... There's like a general term for sheep and goats.
-
It's one and the same, right?
-
Right.
-
So is that what this is?
-
It could be.
-
Because we know that there's going to be... Karaz Rebellion again,
-
so there will be some goats in there.
-
So, I don't know. Right, honey, but Karaz Rebellion takes
-
place once we've been relocated. So, yes, that's what this is.
-
That's what I was trying to say, but you weren't
-
listening to. Yeah, that's what I was trying to say.
-
Well, but why would I just naturally assume reading that
-
that it meant sheep and goats? You know what I mean?
-
But then I remembered another Bible study. I can't remember
-
what it was. I think maybe it was something about
-
the Exodus or something where they killed the lamb and
-
put the blood over the.
-
The person.
-
Yeah, so it could be like a sheep or a goat.
-
That was like.
-
A sheep or a goat. Yes. That just plainly says that.
-
So that's what I kind of remembered. That's why I remember. Yes,
-
that's why Saul is a likening to the scapegoat. He
-
is a representation of what these people call the Antichrist
-
in every way, shape, or form. He is the beast
-
from the earth. That's why Revelation says the beast of
-
the earth. He speaks like a dragon, but he has
-
the horns. Okay? This is the whole reason why. Anyway...
-
We've only read two verses. So, anyway, this thing is jam-packed. But, yes,
-
that's why the place prepared is given negative connotations here,
-
because it is there that Korah's rebellion will take place. So,
-
you people out there, I'm sorry if you think you're
-
going to be translated to heaven.
-
You're... Heaven wasn't really made for people.
-
No, no. Do you know that's why God made creation?
-
Do you know it's for his people? Ladies and gentlemen,
-
I'm sorry your clergy have you thoroughly convinced back here.
-
They have you subliminally convinced this is the devil's playground. No,
-
it's not. This was made for God's children. It wasn't
-
made to be the devil's playground anyway. Boy, if we
-
don't get going, we're never going to finish.
-
So he came to the sheepfolds, which reinforces what you said.
-
It's the place we're buried, you know. So he came
-
to the sheepfolds by the road, and there was a cave.
-
And Saul went in to attend to his needs.
-
He was.
-
Going to the bathroom?
-
It doesn't say that, does it? But that's what needs.
-
What other needs would he be in there by himself?
-
Right. What other needs would it be? But take note.
-
This is, boy, I don't want to say. This is
-
directly in reference to when the man of sin transitions
-
into the son of perdition. Okay. I'm not going to
-
elaborate on that, but that's what this is representing here.
-
That.
-
Okay.
-
From this point forward, okay, anyway. So, yes, attend his needs. Yes,
-
that meant that he went in there to relieve himself. So,
-
finish the verse, and here's the first Easter egg.
-
David and his men were staying in the recesses of
-
the cave. Then the men of David said to him,
-
This is the day of which the Lord said to you, behold,
-
I will deliver your enemy into your hand that you
-
may do to him as seems good to you. And
-
David arose and secretly cut off a corner of Saul's robe.
-
And so what is the robe?
-
Okay.
-
The corner. Once again, I mean. A flag, a banner.
-
His banner over me is love. But even more prophetically,
-
take note that we've already stated, he is the Antichrist represented, right?
-
So when you know that, it triggers remembrancers with what
-
happened with Jesus. When we go to Luke chapter 8,
-
verse 43 says, Now a woman having a flow of
-
blood for 12 years, who had spent all of her
-
livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
-
came from behind him and touched the border of his garment.
-
And immediately her flow stopped. So this is very, very
-
prophetic here in the Greek, when you get into the
-
particulars of the Greek language.
-
And our church ancestors probably... Knew all this because when
-
you ever were told this story in church, what color
-
was his robe? It was red. It was always red.
-
Right.
-
When really, kings always wore purple.
-
Purple.
-
So why red?
-
So anyway.
-
So our church ancestors must have known this already.
-
So.
-
This is pretty important that, wow, man, there's so much here.
-
So what do you think that David's men said that
-
this was an answer to prophecy? What do you think
-
of that? This is the day which the Lord said
-
to you.
-
Well, I think... I think it was either a choice
-
or a test.
-
It's absolutely... Well, if it's a choice, it's a test.
-
Well, no, because God gives us choices that are not.
-
I mean, what about when he brought all the animals
-
to Adam to see what he would name them? That
-
wasn't a test. Sometimes he does actually want to see
-
what we're going to choose.
-
Okay.
-
All right.
-
So David chooses to not fulfill the prophecy.
-
No, because God just said that you may do to
-
him what seems good to you. So I think it
-
was a test. What does seem good to you? God
-
was saying, what seems good to you here? I think
-
it was a test. He was testing him. What do
-
you think is the good thing to do?
-
Okay.
-
All right.
-
So I think it was a test. I think God
-
was testing him to see what he would do. Because, yes,
-
he could have killed him. you know not just that
-
he could have but you know like most people would
-
have because he was like well he's trying to kill
-
me he's not going to stop. Most people would say,
-
he's not going to stop until I'm dead. So they
-
would have. Most people would have, right? But David had faith,
-
so that's the difference.
-
Okay.
-
Alright.
-
I'll follow you.
-
So....
-
I'm not going to go into length. I'm not going
-
to go into depth about it, but I'm going to
-
ask you this. Everybody in that cave was on one
-
side or the other.
-
And here's the other thing. The next thing that happens
-
makes me think that him cutting off the robe was
-
a symbol or something to his men to go at him.
-
Because it must have been part of the tradition that if...
-
if someone cuts off the king's robe and you bring
-
it to your men, then they know who to kill.
-
Because then it said, now it happened afterward that David's
-
heart troubled him because he had cut Saul's robe. So
-
that means that he had intended To have him killed.
-
But he. He felt bad about.
-
You know what's amazing to me? Can I just throw
-
something in here?
-
Okay.
-
What are all the clergy called? They're called men of
-
the what?
-
Cloth. Traditionally. Most people don't know that.
-
Historically, that's what... Yes, they are. They're called it.
-
I know, but like... Most people now don't know that. Well,
-
they are. Yeah, I know.
-
And that's what they call themselves.
-
That must be why. Yes. Yep. I don't know.
-
All right, let's continue. Okay.
-
Now it happened afterward that David's heart troubled him because
-
he had cut Saul's robe. And he said to his men,
-
the Lord forbid that I should do this thing to
-
my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch out my hand
-
against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.
-
So David restrained his servants with these words and did
-
not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul got
-
up from the cave and went his way. So it
-
must have been some type of symbol that he cuts
-
the robe. He does the thing of cutting the robe.
-
And then he says to his men, go get him.
-
And that's how he claims.
-
I don't know.
-
I don't know. It just seems like that's what was
-
going on.
-
Okay.
-
David also rose afterward. went out of the cave and
-
called out to Saul, saying, My lord, the king. And
-
when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face
-
to the ground, to the earth, and bowed down. That's something, too.
-
That's something. With his face to the earth.
-
One thing is for sure. Romans chapter 8 is pretty clear.
Romans 8 chapter mention
-
We're supposed to submit to governing authorities, right? And this
-
is definitely what he did, right? And I think we'll
-
just let it lie there because, you know, this is
-
only a 102. Right. This isn't, these aren't, you know,
-
doctorate classes, right?
-
Okay.
-
So anyway, yeah, there's a whole lot more there. So continue.
-
And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to
-
the words of men who say, Indeed, David seeks your harm? Look,
-
this day your eyes have seen that the Lord delivered
-
you today into my hand in the cave, and someone
-
urged me to kill you. But my eyes spared you,
-
and I said, I will not stretch out my hand
-
against my Lord, for he is the Lord's anointed. Moreover,
-
my father, see, yes, see the corner of your robe
-
in my hand, for in that I cut off the
-
corner of your robe and did not kill you. Know
-
and see that there is neither evil nor rebellion in
-
my hand, and I have not sinned against you. yet
-
you haunt my life to take it. Let the Lord
-
judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge
-
me on you, but my hand shall not be against you.
-
As the proverb of the ancients says, wickedness proceeds from wickedness,
-
but my hand shall not be against you. After whom?
-
Has the king of Israel come out? For whom do
-
you pursue? A dead dog? A flea? Therefore, let the
-
Lord be judge and judge between you and me and
-
see and plead my case and deliver me out of
-
your hand.
-
Okay. You did a whole lot there. Let's go back
-
to this. Um, let's go back here to, someone urged
-
me to kill you. Who's the someone? I don't know.
-
Someone, the evil, the evil one. I don't know. Someone
-
urged me to kill you.
-
Well, let's go back to verse four. Then the men
-
of David said to him, this is the day which
-
the Lord said to you, behold, I've delivered your enemy
-
to your hand that you may do to him what
-
seems good to you. This is hearkening back or, Do
-
we have a direct reference for this prophecy?
-
There's nothing in the footnote online anyway.
-
I agree. Does that mean there's nothing there though?
-
Yeah.
-
So the someone I would assume was his I don't
-
know what to call Abishai other than you know his
-
right hand man. I mean, it was Abishai that repeatedly,
-
Abishai repeatedly was going to kill people.
-
Yeah, but David wasn't too keen on that. He was,
-
he didn't, I mean, Abishai was loyal to a fault
-
and it made David angry. He was like, he didn't
-
like it.
-
Right, he didn't like it. But, you know, I mean,
-
everybody needs to know this. It's Abishai that says this
-
in the future. I'm just going to say this. This
-
is actually from two chapters later. Okay. This is where
-
it comes from. So David and Abishai came to the
-
people by night. And there Saul lay sleeping with him
-
in the camp, and his spear stuck in the ground
-
by his head. And Abner and the people lay all
-
around him. Then Abishai said to David, God has delivered
-
your enemy into your hand this day. Now, therefore, please
-
let me strike him at once with the spear right
-
to the what? To the earth. And I will not
-
have to do it a second time. This is where
-
God has delivered your ending into your hand. But this
-
is in the future. So when you look at cross-references,
-
it only goes forward in time. And you wind up with.
-
This.
-
And he says, let me send him to the earth.
-
using the same phraseology, that david stooped to the earth.
-
It makes me think back to your this morning's scripture
-
um psalm 24 Who is this King of Glory, the
-
Lord of Hosts? He is the King of Glory. So.
-
I mean, he.
-
His angels were standing ready to come down and kill
-
everybody instead of him dying on the cross.
-
Right? Right?
-
And so... So this is literally his banner over us
-
is love. Literally the sign that was above him, Jesus,
-
the King of the Jews, you know, is that banner, that.
-
Corner of the robe. Wow. Absolutely. That is the corner
-
of the robe. Praise God. Yes.
-
Because... Yeah, and the Sanhedrin thought that he was coming
-
to just kill the people they didn't like. No.
-
Right.
-
No, he had a choice all right. He could either
-
wipe out every person, everybody, or he could die for
-
our sins.
-
That's what I was trying to say, that everybody in
-
the cave was on one of two sides. And David
-
alone was on the side of life. Everybody else in
-
the cave wanted death. Saul wanted David dead. David didn't
-
want anybody to die. And all the men that was
-
with David wanted King Saul to die. Everybody in that
-
cave was on one of two sides. David alone was
-
on the side of life. So what do you make of,
-
read verse 13 again.
-
As the Proverbs of the ancients says, wickedness proceeds from
-
the wicked, but my hand shall not be against you.
-
So this isn't a proverb in the word. Anyway, we'll
-
talk about here in a second. I've seen a notification
-
from the chat room. Okay, let's see. Carol says, 1
-
Samuel 15, 27. And as Samuel turned around to go away,
-
Saul seized him, here we go, by the edge of
-
his robe and it tore. So Samuel said to him,
-
the Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you
-
today and has given it to the neighbor of yours
-
who is better than you. Boy, is it that apropos.
-
So we need to talk about that first. So Carol
-
is stating that this sequence came from that.
-
No, but it did. I do remember us talking about that.
-
I think it does.
-
But I whispered into your ear we weren't going to
-
talk about it.
-
Right. We'll talk about it. We'll talk about it next week.
-
Yes, we have to talk about that next week. That's
-
why we weren't going to talk about it. But I
-
don't think Carol was here yet when I said that,
-
when I whispered in your ear.
-
Well, nobody could hear it because you were whispering. Right.
-
So Carol will talk about that next week. Let's get
-
back to this. There is no place in the Proverbs,
-
in the Word, that says wickedness proceeds from wickedness. However,
-
that is a parable. I'm going to blow your mind.
-
Thus saith the word. Wickedness proceeds from wickedness. It's the
-
name of a parable in Matthew chapter 7. You know
Matthew 7 chapter mention
-
it by something else. You will know them by their fruits.
-
That's what this is.
-
This is....
-
This is the parable. So you understand twice this has
-
happened in this chapter. David is quoting from a proverb
-
that Jesus, the Lord Jesus Christ will give. Let me
-
read it for you. Beware of false prophets who come
-
into you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
-
Look at the phraseology. It says in as if in
-
reference to this cave. I would go into the Greek,
-
but we just don't have time to do that. Anyway,
-
let's see if this is true. You will know them
-
by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes
-
or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears fruit,
-
but every bad tree bears bad fruit. This is the
-
name of this parable. Jesus Christ gave this parable to
-
fulfill the What David said in 1 Samuel chapter 24.
1 Samuel 24 chapter mention
-
Okay?
-
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a
-
bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not
-
bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
-
Praise God. Therefore, by their fruits, you will know them.
-
The proper name of this parable is wickedness proceeds from wickedness.
-
But it didn't exist yet.
-
You understand?
-
Right.
-
So basically he was saying that he knew that if
-
he killed Saul when Saul was indisposed, that would be wicked.
-
And he knew that if he did that, he would
-
be wicked in his reign as king. So he didn't
-
want to start his reign as king being from having
-
murdered Saul. Right.
-
He wanted his reign to come from life, not death. Okay.
-
How long have we been going on now? Alright, so
-
you ready to finish this up or you got more
-
to say about that? And by the way, that's the
-
whole reason why David said this. Whom have you come out... Okay,
-
so Did David come from a dead dog? Did he
-
come from a flea? That's the reference here to these
-
two questions he gives. Wickedness proceeds from wickedness. And he's saying,
-
I did not come from a dog. I'm not wicked.
-
I did not come from a flea. I'm not wicked.
-
He's trying to prophetically say that. Anyway, finish it up, Rachel.
-
So it was when David had finished speaking these words
-
to Saul that Saul said, Is that your voice, my
-
son David? And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.
-
Then he said to David, You are more righteous than I,
-
for you have rewarded me with good, whereas I have
-
rewarded you with evil. And you have shown this day
-
how you have dealt well with me. For when the
-
Lord delivered me into your hand, you did not kill me.
-
For if a man finds his enemy, will he let
-
him get away safely?
-
Another riddle.
-
Therefore, may the Lord reward you with good for what
-
you have done to me this day. And now I
-
know indeed that you shall surely be king and that
-
the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand. Therefore,
-
I swear... Therefore, swear now to me by the Lord
-
that you will not cut off my descendants after me
-
and that you will not destroy my name from my
-
father's house. So David swore to Saul and Saul went home,
-
but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
-
So now. The rocks of the wild goats. Is now
-
called the stronghold.
-
Right.
-
So take note that. David. King Saul would not swear
-
to kill him. You realize how. How preposterous this is.
-
Saul admitted this. So Saul made him swear. But Saul
-
didn't agree.
-
Not to kill him.
-
Saul would not.
-
I think Saul knew that he couldn't kill him. Because
-
he said, And now I know indeed that you shall
-
surely be king. And that the kingdom of Israel shall
-
be established in your hand. So he knew at that
-
point that he wasn't going to kill David. And he
-
knew he was going to be killed. But he still
-
was too proud to give up the fight.
-
He didn't say himself. Okay, now take note. You have
-
to believe the word.
-
Okay?
-
It says, Therefore swear to me by the Lord that
-
you will not cut off my descendants after me. He
-
didn't say that David was going to kill him.
-
I know, but I.
-
I know he didn't say that, but I'm just saying
-
that I think he knew that, you know.
-
He knew he couldn't kill David, and he absolutely knew
-
that David could absolutely dead bang kill him.
-
Could, yeah.
-
Could.
-
But he knew that, well, I should be saying that
-
he knew that God was going to, his time was short.
-
He knew that. He knew at that point that his
-
time was short. but he couldn't seem to give up
-
the fight.
-
So, I want to say something else. I said this stronghold, right?
-
This harkens back to the prior verse, or the prior chapter, 2339. There,
-
you questioned me about En Gedi, and it said strongholds, plural.
-
So this is where you get that the Rocks of
-
the Wild Goats Is the stronghold. Amongst the different strongholds.
-
At En Gedi.
-
Okay.
-
So.
-
Lots to. So anyway these strongholds. Are reckoned to the
-
42 stations. Of the wilderness. Okay remember that. 42 times
-
the pillar of the presence. Would go up and move.
-
And then the children of Israel. Would break camp and
-
follow the pillar. And wherever the pillar. Rested there, they
-
would set their camps around it, right? It moved 42 times.
-
So this is in reference to that. Anyway, man, there's
-
so much here.
-
Yep.
-
Man, there's so much here. But anyway, wow. So the
-
next chapter's a good one. This is all leading up
-
to something, right?
-
Yes.
-
It's all leading up to something. So, any questions or comments, anybody?
-
And it don't have to just be about 1 Samuel
1 Samuel 24 chapter mention
-
chapter 24. It could be about anything. But anyway, anybody?
-
Going once. Going twice. All right. I hope everybody's been
-
enjoying our two Bible studies. They're my favorite. Until next time,
-
God bless. Godspeed.
