  1. Good morning, church. You may have a seat. While

  2. you're taking a seat, go ahead and grab a paper

  3. or digital Bible and navigate over to Psalm 67,

  4. right in the middle of the Bible. If you crack

  5. it open right in the middle, you'll probably

  6. get there. That's where we'll be today. My name

  7. is Jay. I am one of your global mission partners.

  8. I am incredibly thankful for the way that Heights

  9. Church has partnered with us. My wife, Caitlin,

  10. and I have worked over in Japan doing disciple

  11. making and church planting. We've been there

  12. for 18 years now, and we're incredibly thankful

  13. that you guys come alongside us in that ministry.

  14. We are living right now in Tokyo, but we didn't

  15. start in Tokyo. We started in the city of Nagoya.

  16. Nagoya is a city of 9 million people. We were

  17. part of a church planting team there for a couple

  18. of years and then moved to Osaka, a larger city,

  19. 19 million people. And we're part of planting

  20. a church there, worked there for eight years,

  21. wonderful city. And then in 2019, handed that

  22. church over, moved to Tokyo, launched the church

  23. in Tokyo in 2020. large city. And God has been

  24. incredibly gracious to us to take our team that

  25. we moved across the world with and turn the team

  26. into a church. And when you think church, you

  27. can think of things like baptisms and weddings

  28. and prayer and children and worship, just like

  29. we just experienced. And then God took our church

  30. and turned it into a network of churches. And

  31. our ministry now has 11 church plants and one

  32. church revitalization project. And those churches

  33. are gathering across Japan in various cities.

  34. And Lord willing, in the future, we'll be talking

  35. about two more church plants and another revitalization

  36. project on the way. God has been incredibly gracious

  37. to allow us to also begin working with other

  38. churches and other mission groups across Japan

  39. to try to serve the broader body of Christ. And

  40. so a few years ago, we started a youth conference

  41. called Renew, and that is to invest in the next

  42. generation in Japan. Last year, we launched a

  43. school called Tokyo Keiruso School of Theology.

  44. Keiruso is the Greek word for to preach. to proclaim,

  45. and that is a school where we're trying to raise

  46. up more leaders, more preachers to serve churches

  47. in Japan. So why in the world are we over there?

  48. What are we doing spending so much time in Japan?

  49. Well, Japan is a country where 99 % of the people

  50. do not have faith in Jesus. Every week, it's

  51. only 0 .2, catch the 0 .2 % of people are in

  52. church in Japan. The average church size is 35

  53. people. 15 % of churches are without a pastor,

  54. and that number is going up. In the history of

  55. Japan, we've never had as many as 2 % of the

  56. population worshiping Jesus. And right now, Heights

  57. Church, you are having this global... month where

  58. you're focusing on the globe and the needs, the

  59. gospel needs across the world. And that's a very

  60. important thing to do, not just to think about

  61. Japan, but other countries with huge needs in

  62. the world. If you think about Bangladesh, the

  63. largest unreached people group in the world is

  64. in Bangladesh. Think about North Korea, the Islamic

  65. North of Africa, other countries in the Islamic

  66. world. There are huge needs for the good news

  67. of Jesus. And it's a good thing to think about

  68. the world because As troubles multiply or intensify

  69. at home, the temptation can be to then forget

  70. about the rest of the world. And it's important

  71. that for us as Christians, we always think about

  72. the whole globe. Here in the United States, we've

  73. experienced so much blessing from God. There

  74. are many Christians. There are many churches.

  75. Statistics tell us that about 30 % of the population

  76. of the United States will gather today in a church

  77. to worship Jesus. That's a really high percentage

  78. compared to other countries. That is incredibly

  79. high. And in fact, people are talking about a

  80. revival in the Western world that's taking place

  81. right now, not just in the US, but in all of

  82. the Western world. However, we have to remember.

  83. that the United States accounts for only 4 %

  84. of the world's population. And the Western world,

  85. when we talk about the West, it's talking about

  86. 17 % of the world's population, meaning 83 %

  87. of the world lives outside of what we consider

  88. the West. The world is a big place. And that

  89. takes us to Psalm 67. Psalm 67 answers a really

  90. big, important question. Is Christianity only...

  91. for one people or one nation? And the resounding

  92. answer that you get coming out of Psalm 67 is

  93. no. So when we look at the Psalms, what we're

  94. dealing with here is a collection of prayers

  95. and songs to God from the Old Testament. So I'm

  96. actually going to read all of Psalm 67. It's

  97. rather short. I'm going to read it. And as I

  98. do, I want you to circle or highlight. Three

  99. different words, two words, and then a set of

  100. words. Okay, here they are. Just say it back

  101. to me real quick so you remember what we're looking

  102. for. Say peoples. Say nations. Say ends of the

  103. earth. Every time it shows up, go ahead and circle

  104. that. Count how many times they show up. There

  105. will be a test. No, I'm not kidding. Here it

  106. comes. Psalm 67. To the choir master with stringed

  107. instruments. A psalm. A song. May God be gracious

  108. to us and bless us and make his face to shine

  109. upon us. Selah. That your way may be known on

  110. earth, your saving power among all nations. Let

  111. the peoples praise you, O God. Let all the peoples

  112. praise you. Let the nations be glad and sing

  113. for joy. For you judge the peoples with equity

  114. and guide the nations upon earth. Selah. Let

  115. the peoples praise you, O God. Let all the peoples

  116. praise you. The earth has yielded its increase.

  117. God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless

  118. us. Let all the ends of the earth fear him. Father

  119. in heaven, we pray along with this psalm that

  120. people would know you, that they would praise

  121. you, and they would be glad in you, Father. Open

  122. our hearts and our minds to your word right now.

  123. I pray, God, that as we look at your word, you

  124. would shape us with your word. We ask this in

  125. the name of Jesus. Amen. Well, Psalm 67 was written

  126. around 2 ,700 years ago, and it has sometimes

  127. been called Israel's missionary psalm. How many

  128. times did you see the word peoples? You can go

  129. ahead and actually shout it out. How many times

  130. did you see the word peoples? What we got? Anybody?

  131. We got five up front. Well done. Very good. Five.

  132. How many times do you see the word nations? We

  133. have three. We have two, depending on your translation,

  134. either two or three times. Well done. How about

  135. ends of the earth? One. Very good. Okay, one.

  136. Ends of the earth, one time. Now, Christianity,

  137. what this all shows us is Christianity is not

  138. just for one nation. The Bible is not just for

  139. one nation. Jesus is not the savior of one people.

  140. God is not the God of one nation, one people,

  141. one skin color, one language, or one group. God

  142. is God over all. This year in Tokyo, we are actually

  143. doing this series, a year -long series, where

  144. we're reading through the whole Bible, Genesis

  145. to Revelation. And in Japan, kind of the business

  146. year and the school year kicks off in April.

  147. So we started this in April. We're going to get

  148. to the New Testament in December. just in time

  149. for Christmas, it's gonna be great. But so far

  150. this year, we've just all Old Testament. So we're

  151. all right here in the Old Testament. As you read

  152. the Old Testament, it's very focused on one nation.

  153. And we're really zooming in on this nation of

  154. Israel, this tiny sliver of land in the Middle

  155. East. And someone could read the Old Testament

  156. and then assume, ah, I guess in the Old Testament

  157. era, God was just only concerned with one nation,

  158. Israel. And then when Jesus came, you know, God

  159. decided, I'm going to go ahead and widen my scope

  160. and I'm going to go global. And now I'm going

  161. to decide to be concerned with the rest of the

  162. world now in the New Testament. And what we see

  163. in Psalm 67, squarely in the Old Testament, is

  164. that idea is totally false. That God has since

  165. the beginning always been concerned with all

  166. nations. In fact, if you look throughout the

  167. Old Testament, you're gonna see God's heart for

  168. the entire globe over and over again. Go to the

  169. 12th chapter of the Bible, way back in Genesis

    Genesis 12 chapter mention

  170. chapter 12, where God is dealing with Abraham,

  171. called Abram here. It says, the Lord said to

  172. Abram, go from your country and your kindred

  173. and your father's house to the land that I will

  174. show you. And I will make of you a great nation.

  175. And I will bless you. and make your name great

  176. so that you will be a blessing. I will bless

  177. those who bless you. Him who dishonors you, I

  178. will curse. And in you, all the families of the

  179. earth shall be blessed. So God blesses Abraham.

  180. Abraham right here. God blesses Abraham. We see

  181. that word bless show up also in Psalm 67. So

  182. God's carrying that blessing forward. to the

  183. nations through Israel and specifically through

  184. Abraham's descendant, Jesus Christ. Now, I want

  185. you to go back even further to the very first

  186. sentence of the Bible. So go to Genesis 1 -1,

  187. right after the table of contents, right there,

  188. Genesis 1 -1, where it says, in the beginning,

  189. God created the heavens and the earth. Well done.

  190. Anybody ever read the Kojiki? Anybody? Bunch

  191. of readers, all the hands. Not up. Gotcha. I

  192. didn't think so. The Kojiki is the ancient Japanese

  193. text that forms the foundation for Shintoism.

  194. That is the traditional folk religion of Japan

  195. that was in Japan before Buddhism came in. Now,

  196. in the Kojiki, at the very beginning, there's

  197. actually a creation story. And in this creation

  198. story, one of the gods of the thousands of them

  199. in the Kojiki, one of the gods. takes a spear

  200. and is stirring up the ocean with the spear and

  201. kind of, you know, really stirs for a long time

  202. until he kind of makes a foam, kind of a brine

  203. froth there. And he gets it and he takes the

  204. spear and he shakes the foam off the end of the

  205. spear. And when he does, there go the nations,

  206. the islands of Japan. And that's how Japan is

  207. formed. And that's the beginning of Japan. That's

  208. the beginning of the Kojiki. Now, this is a myth.

  209. Everyone knows this is a myth. I've not met a

  210. single Japanese person in 18 years who actually

  211. thinks that's how Japan was created. So everyone

  212. knows it's a myth. However, what I want you to

  213. pay attention to about the myth is that it is

  214. incredibly Japan -centric. It is about the creation

  215. of Japan. Resultantly, Shintoism is a religion

  216. for one nation, Japan. It's not the only religion

  217. like that. You could think of Hinduism being

  218. for India. But unlike the Kojiki for Shintoism,

  219. in Genesis 1 .1, what we just saw at the beginning

  220. of the Bible is that God does not make one nation,

  221. does he? It says that God created the heavens

  222. and the earth. The whole earth. So someone could

  223. read that and then go, I see what we're doing.

  224. I understand. You're saying that God is bigger

  225. than one nation. God is the God of all the earth.

  226. Yes, true. But God is actually bigger than that

  227. because it also says that he created the heavens,

  228. referring to space. Look at Hebrews chapter 11,

    Hebrews 11:3

  229. verse 3. It says, by faith, we understand that

  230. the... universe was created by the word of God.

  231. Now, that Greek word for universe is eon, referring

  232. to past, eternity, era, age to come, the world.

  233. So we're translating it universe, but it's saying

  234. to us, God is the creator of space and time.

  235. So someone might go, okay, I get it. God is not

  236. just the creator of the earth. He's the creator

  237. of the universe and everything that can be observed

  238. with our eyes. Yes, but he's actually also bigger

  239. than that because look over at Colossians 1 .16.

  240. It says, for by him, all things were created

  241. in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,

  242. whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities,

  243. all things were created through him and for him.

  244. Not only, is the world and the universe and all

  245. that is seen created by God, but even the things

  246. that we cannot see that exist in the unseen spiritual

  247. realm, they too were created by God. With that

  248. in mind, do you see how silly is this idea of,

  249. well, maybe Christianity is just kind of a Western

  250. thing? No, God is the God of all that exists.

  251. And Christianity started in the Middle East,

  252. that's Asia. The gospel went to Africa and India

  253. before it got to England. God is the creator

  254. of space and time and the ruler of everything

  255. visible and invisible. So is God the God of Japan

  256. and China and Fiji and Norway? Of course, yes,

  257. he's the God overall. Now, if we asked an atheist,

  258. and you might be one right now, we're glad you're

  259. here. If we asked an atheist, why does the world

  260. exist? They might start to give you an answer

  261. of how the world came to exist, but they would

  262. not tell you why everything came to exist. In

  263. fact, they would say that science does not give

  264. you a why or a purpose and that science does

  265. not owe you a purpose or a why for everything

  266. existing. But I want you to go back and look

  267. at Colossians 1 .16. And look at the last two

  268. words, for him. Isn't it nice to know why? All

  269. things exist for God and his glory. We exist

  270. for him. And in the Old Testament, Israel had

  271. tasted God's blessings. They were blessed by

  272. God. And now this psalm is a prayer for other

  273. nations to also be glad in God. So I want you

  274. to look back at Psalm 67 now, get out the magnifying

  275. glass. We're going to go through this and examine

  276. the Psalm for the rest of our time together.

  277. And the first thing that I want you to see is

  278. that the Psalm has a, here's the big word of

  279. the day, the Psalm has a chiastic structure.

  280. A chiasm is a Hebrew literary structure that

  281. was used when the Psalm was written in Hebrew

  282. over 2 ,600 years ago. It was put in this structure

  283. to communicate a point. And the point that this

  284. structure communicates is that the center, which

  285. is C here, verse 4, is the heart of the psalm.

  286. It's the main point that everything is driving

  287. at. So if this helps, we can illustrate this

  288. with a hamburger, okay? First, you have for A,

  289. right there, you have the... The buns right there.

  290. And then B, you got the toppings. In the center,

  291. there's the C. That's the juicy meat patty, right?

  292. And then that's what we're after. We're after

  293. the big meat patty in the middle. That's what

  294. we want, okay? That's the most important part.

  295. That's C, that's verse four. So here it is. The

  296. heart of this is, let the nations be glad and

  297. sing for joy. For you judge the peoples with

  298. equity and guide the nations upon the earth.

  299. And then we have this musical term, Selah. So

  300. the goal of the prayer is that the nations would

  301. be glad in God. Why do we want people to become

  302. Christians? Why are we trying to make disciples

  303. of Jesus over in Japan? Why do we want people

  304. to worship God? So they would be glad in God.

  305. God is the source of ultimate gladness. And so

  306. we pray for all nations to know and praise God.

  307. If you are a note taker, that's the main point.

  308. If you like main point, thesis, statement, there

  309. it is. That's what we're driving at today. God

  310. is the source of ultimate gladness, so we pray

  311. for all nations to know and praise God. Next

  312. to verse four, make a note, write down that word,

  313. glad. And look at verse four and see God makes

  314. people glad through his work as judge and through

  315. his work of guiding his people. Judge. guidance.

  316. Judge, guidance. So this verse could answer the

  317. question that someone might ask, which would

  318. be, would the world be a better place if everyone

  319. was a Christian? Would the world be a better

  320. place if everyone was worshiping God? If everyone

  321. was guided by God, if everyone was happy with

  322. his judgments, the world would be a better place.

  323. If all nations were glad in God as their Lord,

  324. there would be more love and peace, more justice

  325. in the world. And that leads to the next question.

  326. Okay. Well, if the world would be a better place,

  327. if everyone was following God, why isn't everyone

  328. following God? And the answer is people love

  329. sin. We would rather. like we are in charge and

  330. that we are the judge of right and wrong. We

  331. would rather feel like we're able to pursue sin

  332. rather than turn our lives over to God's leading

  333. and guidance. And when you look at the state

  334. of the world right now, you see a lot of brokenness

  335. and hurting because of pride and selfishness

  336. and fearful self -preservation. But if all of

  337. the nations were glad in God and in his guidance,

  338. we would see a perfect world. And in fact, we

  339. are going to see this kind of perfection in the

  340. world, in the new heavens and new earth, but

  341. that doesn't come until the very end where the

  342. Bible says that God's rule will cover the whole

  343. world as the water covers the sea. It's a beautiful

  344. picture. Now. Before we talk about the nations

  345. following God as judge and being glad in God

  346. and his judgments, the nations, that can kind

  347. of feel distant and not related. We should probably

  348. first talk about us. Are there areas of your

  349. life where you do not want God to be judge? Are

  350. there areas of your life where you do not want

  351. God to be king? And are there parts of your life

  352. where you say, you know what, I really don't

  353. care what the Bible says about that. I want what

  354. makes me most happy, what makes me, what I feel

  355. is most convenient for my life, what makes me

  356. temporarily happy, that's what I'm after. And

  357. if you're saying that, you are missing out on

  358. the gladness that comes from following the God

  359. of the universe. If you're thinking, I really

  360. don't care what the Bible says about sex and

  361. greed and gossip and laziness and what I look

  362. at online or gentleness or how I should speak

  363. to my family, I'm going to be my own judge and

  364. my own guide. You will experience brokenness

  365. in your life. The brokenness of sin. Don't be

  366. surprised if you do not feel glad in God if you're

  367. living in sin. The good news is there are people

  368. here who want to... pray with you and help you

  369. repent of those things and live in line with

  370. God. And now that we talk about the heart of

  371. this Psalm in verse four and being glad in God,

  372. I want you to back up, zoom out to that A part

  373. of the structure to Psalm 67 verses one and two.

  374. Okay, look at the intro. Here's what verses one

  375. and two say. It says, may God be gracious to

  376. us and bless us and make his face to shine upon

  377. us that your way may be known on earth, your

  378. saving power. among all nations. This is a prayer

  379. for blessing. So once again, if you're writing

  380. notes, next to verses one and two, and then also

  381. verses six and seven at the end, write the word

  382. bless. Bless, a prayer for blessing. God's face

  383. shining upon someone, like you see there in verse

  384. one, would communicate the idea of God's favor

  385. and delight abiding on a person. God's delight

  386. abiding on someone. Think about the way a loving

  387. parent might hold their baby and just gaze at

  388. them, right? Their delight resting on them. That's

  389. what this is saying is, God, make your face shine

  390. us. Delight on these people right here. If this

  391. sounds familiar, it's because it's from Numbers

  392. 6, way back here. Numbers 6 verses 24 to 26,

    Numbers 6:24–26

  393. which Kelly read at the beginning of the worship

  394. service. And priests in Israel would actually

  395. pray this prayer of blessing over the nation

  396. of Israel to be blessed. Who doesn't want to

  397. be blessed? Everybody wants blessing, right?

  398. In order to learn about blessing, I decided to

  399. do some research on Instagram and found that

  400. there are 162 million posts with hashtag blessed.

  401. Quickly looking at Instagram, I can also see

  402. that blessed can apply to almost anything, but

  403. apparently it often applies to being good at

  404. sports, having a cute baby goat, or random people

  405. on the street handing you money. Truly, blessing

  406. can apply to many different things. In fact,

  407. if you look down at verse 6, you're going to

  408. see that blessings include things like crops,

  409. getting food. It says the earth has yielded its

  410. increase. So things like rain, which is very

  411. relevant right now, air, health, friends, community,

  412. beauty in creation, order. We could list millions

  413. and millions of blessings from God. What's unique

  414. about Psalm 67 verses one and two is that it

  415. gives us the purpose for the blessing. a purpose

  416. for the blessing. It says, God bless us so that

  417. your way may be known on earth. God bless us

  418. so that your saving power would be known among

  419. all nations. The prayer is God bless us so that

  420. you would be famous among all the people. Listen,

  421. church, we are not blessed to be rich and enjoy

  422. our riches and our high standard of living. We

  423. are not blessed to be comfortable. We are not

  424. blessed to retire early, take life easy without

  425. any kind of care or sacrifice for others. We

  426. are not blessed to be able to avoid worries and

  427. stress, which are inherent in a meaningful life.

  428. We're not even blessed for the purpose of knowing

  429. God and then just keeping that knowledge all

  430. to ourselves. We're not blessed to know God and

  431. then just keep the knowledge of God and his goodness

  432. in our homes, in our families, in a compound,

  433. in a bunker, alone in a monastery somewhere.

  434. No, we are blessed in order to make God's ways

  435. and his saving power known among the nations.

  436. Why are you here in Prescott? Because there's

  437. a good church here? For a good job? Is it a safe

  438. town? To enjoy natural beauty. Maybe all these

  439. things, but ultimately, you are here to make

  440. God known. You are here to tell people about

  441. Jesus and to glorify God. I want you to look

  442. at what happens then when God is known among

  443. the nations and people come to know God's saving

  444. power. Look at verses three and five. The result

  445. is praise. So next to verses three and verse

  446. five, write the word praise. And if you're paying

  447. attention, verse three and verse five are identical.

  448. Exact same content. This is the toppings part

  449. of the burger here. It says, let the peoples

  450. praise you, O God. Let all the peoples praise

  451. you. Praise is a response of God's saving work.

  452. and his blessings on his people. And humans want

  453. to praise, even if you're not yet a Christian

  454. right now. All people have a desire in them to

  455. worship something. One Bible scholar said it

  456. like this. He wrote, we long to be impressed.

  457. with jaw -dropping feats of greatness that flow

  458. from unique ability and peerless power. This

  459. is why so many around the world are intoxicated

  460. by the prowess of elite athletes. This is why

  461. we love to see the majesties of creation, the

  462. ocean, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and the

  463. starry heavens. We love these indescribable glories

  464. because there is a yearning in us for the one

  465. who alone could create them. Praise completes

  466. our enjoyment and there is nothing we were made

  467. to enjoy more than God. There's nothing we were

  468. meant to enjoy more than God. And some have settled

  469. for sin and shallow entertainment. Enjoy God.

  470. When you hear the gospel, When you hear the good

  471. news of Jesus and you believe you are moved to

  472. praise, that is the cause and effect. Hear the

  473. gospel praise. When you learn that the God of

  474. the universe and all there is became a man named

  475. Jesus and died on the cross for our sins that

  476. we committed against him, he didn't stay dead.

  477. He rose to life. He offers you life. What else

  478. can you do but praise? And when we praise God,

  479. We're then moved to be glad. And gladness and

  480. praising God, that's the heart of this psalm.

  481. So see the progression once again. See this.

  482. God bless us. Make your greatness known. People

  483. are then going to praise you for your greatness.

  484. And then through praising, people are going to

  485. be glad. The psalmist wrote this psalm to say

  486. that he wants the gladness through praising God

  487. to spread to the whole world. At the time of

  488. this psalm, go back in history over 2 ,600 years

  489. ago, not much of the world was praising the one

  490. true God of the Bible, the God of Israel. Not

  491. much of the world was praising him. Just a very,

  492. very small fraction of the world was praising

  493. God. And yet today, over one third of the world

  494. worships God because one third of the world is

  495. Christian. The largest church is in South Korea.

  496. 10 % of China is Christian. There are fast -growing

  497. churches in Africa and South America. What changed

  498. 2 ,600 years ago to today? What changed? What

  499. sparked this glad praise? What started this off?

  500. 2 ,000 years ago, an angel appeared to shepherds

  501. and said, Fear not, for behold, I bring you good

  502. news of great joy. That will be for? That will

  503. be for? All the people. For unto you is born

  504. this day in the city of David a Savior, who is

  505. Christ the Lord. God became a man and came into

  506. our world. Thirty years passed before he died,

  507. he said in John 12. And I, when I am lifted up

  508. from the earth, will draw all people to myself.

  509. All people. God in flesh was lifted on the cross

  510. to pay for our sins so that we could be forgiven

  511. and reconciled to God in his forever family.

  512. And when you speak that message, people from

  513. nations and all over the world, all different

  514. backgrounds, all different languages are drawn

  515. to the Savior. 1 John 2 says, he is the propitiation

  516. for our sins and not for ours only, but also

  517. for the sins of the whole world. Jesus is the

  518. remedy for the broken world because he died for

  519. sins and he is the solution for all people who

  520. come to faith in him. Not just one nation, not

  521. just one people. After his resurrection, Jesus

  522. said to his disciples in Acts chapter one, verse

  523. eight, but you will receive power when the Holy

  524. Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses

  525. in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and

  526. to the ends of the earth. We are to tell of the

  527. blessings of God to the ends of the earth, just

  528. like we read in Psalm 67, verse seven. And when

  529. we look forward at Revelation, the end there

  530. in chapter seven, we see in heaven, the throne

  531. and a multitude before the throne from every

  532. tribe, nation and language and people praising

  533. God. Why would they praise? Because God made

  534. us. and loved us and saved us through Jesus.

  535. Friends, if you are not a Christian, I want you

  536. to be glad in God. To learn more about what it

  537. means to follow Jesus, after the service, you

  538. can come forward here and there are people who

  539. are gonna pray with you and they would love to

  540. talk with you about what it means to follow Jesus.

  541. Christians in the room, 70 % of the people outside

  542. of these doors, felt that Jesus was not worth

  543. worshiping today. But a recent survey said that

  544. over 80 % who are not in church, over 80 % said

  545. they would attend church if invited. Invite someone.

  546. Right now, we are going to apply Psalm 67 by

  547. praying for the nations. We're actually going

  548. to do what we saw in the Psalm. We're going to

  549. apply it right away. So what I have is a list

  550. of 10 large nations with huge gospel needs that

  551. we're going to throw on the screen. And I want

  552. you to pick one of those that pops out to you.

  553. And then if you're comfortable, I would urge

  554. you, and I really hope you're comfortable, to

  555. turn to people around you, get in groups of two

  556. to four people, and then appoint one person in

  557. your group to pray for one of these nations.

  558. And pray for the Christians who are already in

  559. that nation, A very small minority might be persecuted,

  560. might be discouraged. Pray for more workers because

  561. Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, but the

  562. workers are few. Pray for churches and pray for

  563. the people in these nations to be glad in God.

  564. So church, go ahead and form those groups, two

  565. to four people. If you're all by yourself, you

  566. could pray just by yourself. That's okay. But

  567. we're going to get some work done right now.

  568. And we're gonna pray for the nations. Let's spend

  569. some time. I'll give you a minute to pray. Father

  570. in heaven, you are holy. You are glorious. You

  571. are good. You are generous. You have blessed

  572. us. I thank you for blessing us with the knowledge

  573. of the gospel. I thank you for sending witnesses

  574. to us, someone to share the gospel with us so

  575. that we could hear and believe and be saved,

  576. Lord God. I ask that you would send witnesses

  577. to people around the world, that more people

  578. would know your saving power, that people would

  579. praise you, that people would be glad in you.

  580. Pray for the joy of Jesus to spread all over

  581. the world. Hear the prayers that were prayed

  582. by the saints in this room, Lord God. Ask that

  583. you would multiply them, that you would bear

  584. fruit, Lord God, through your people, through

  585. your church, by the power of the Holy Spirit

  586. all over the world. Lord Jesus, thank you for

  587. saving us. Shape us and mold us by the power

  588. of the Spirit to be more like Jesus. and then

  589. to take truth and good news to those around us,

  590. Lord God. We pray all this in the name of Jesus.

  591. Amen. Church, you just applied Psalm 67. You

  592. prayed for the nations. I would encourage you

  593. to continue to pray for the nations. Do it again

  594. tomorrow. Do it again next week and the week

  595. after that and see how God shapes your heart

  596. for his world. We are going to continue to apply

  597. Psalm 67 and obey what we see in the Bible right

  598. now by praising our good God who has blessed

  599. us so much. So will you stand and let's praise.
