-
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
-
Okay, we are in Genesis chapter 37 from here on out up until Genesis chapter 50.
Genesis 37 chapter mention Genesis 50 chapter mention
-
The focus really shifts to just being all about Joseph.
-
And so from chapter 37 to 50, it's basically the chronicles of Joseph.
-
With the exception of chapter 37, that really focuses on that weird story with Judah.
-
Okay, if you've read through Genesis, you know what I'm talking about. We'll deal with that later.
-
I'm sorry, chapter 38 where it talks about Judah and Onan and Ur and so forth.
-
And one of the reasons I think that that story is kind of just inserted within the chronicles here of Joseph
-
is because of the fact that Joseph ended up being a better representation of Jesus Christ far more than Judah.
-
And of course we know that Judah, you know, that's from where Jesus Christ is going to come from
-
but you know, he isn't necessarily a typology of Jesus Christ.
-
Joseph actually operates far better, far greater of a typology of Jesus than Judah.
-
But Judah is mentioned in chapter 38 because from Judah you have Phares
-
and Phares essentially comes into the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
-
So it's all still about Christ.
-
And so the Lord is trying to help us realize that, you know, he's using imperfect menders,
-
imperfect people within the genealogy of Jesus.
-
But that's why I believe Genesis 38 is being mentioned there.
-
But from Genesis 37 and on, it's all about Joseph.
-
And quite frankly, I'll be honest with you, this is probably my favorite part of the book of Genesis.
-
When I read through the story of Joseph, it's very emotional.
-
There's a lot going on and it's just a lot of great representations, typologies, illustrations of Jesus Christ.
-
So let's start in verse number one.
-
It says,
-
So right off the bat, we're seeing that Joseph is obviously reporting to his dad regarding the deeds of his brethren.
-
It specifically says that he's bringing up their evil report.
-
Whether that means that they're dishonest, they're doing things that are not right,
-
they're doing things that would be displeasing in the eyes of the father.
-
And this is one of the reasons why Joseph's brethren despised him.
-
We're going to see later on some other reasons, but primarily we also see here that it's because of the fact that he's testifying of their evil report.
-
So the first illustration, representation of Christ here is that Jesus, just as Joseph, also came to Israel and he testified of their evil deeds, right?
-
Go to John chapter 2 if you would.
John 2 chapter mention
-
As you're turning there, I'm going to read to you from John chapter 3 in verse number 20.
John 3 chapter mention
-
It says,
-
Look at Genesis chapter 2 if you would, in verse number 23.
Genesis 2 chapter mention
-
It says,
-
And of course we know that Jesus throughout his ministry was constantly calling out the Jews.
-
He was constantly calling out the Pharisees.
-
He was bringing up their evil report.
-
The fact that they were teaching for doctrines, the commandments of men, the fact that they didn't really believe in Moses because they rejected him.
-
He was constantly preaching against them, right?
-
And so we see this parallel with Joseph that the first illustration, typology that we come across is his ability to bring up the evil report.
-
Now let me just say this is that when it comes to preaching, that's what we're supposed to do.
-
We're obviously supposed to exhort people, build people up, comfort people,
-
but the Bible says that we're also supposed to bring up the evil report of others, right?
-
Correct others.
-
The Bible says to preach the word, be instant in season, out of season,
-
reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all along suffering and doctrine.
-
Meaning that it's our job as preachers, pastors, to bring up the evil report of this world.
-
To preach against the fornication, preach against drunkenness, preach against the sins of society.
-
And you know what? That's one of the reasons why people are going to hate us.
-
That's one of the reasons people are going to hate you.
-
Maybe your family and friends have separated you from their company.
-
It's not necessarily because there's something wrong with you.
-
It's because there's something wrong with them.
-
And it's because of the fact that you're exposing the sinfulness of their actions,
-
what they believe or their deeds and so forth.
-
And so we can't expect to be loved by the world.
-
We can't expect to live a godly life and not have people criticize us
-
or be angry with us because it's our job to call out the sin, to bring up that evil report.
-
So we can look at Joseph and say, oh man, he's just a little snitch.
-
He's just ratting on his brothers. He's bringing up the evil report.
-
And no one likes to snitch for sure, but let's just be honest.
-
He's probably telling the dad about things that they're doing that are bad.
-
They're wicked. They're being dishonest.
-
Maybe they're doing things that are sinful.
-
And Joseph's coming back and he's bringing this report like, hey,
-
they're doing some wicked stuff over there.
-
I just want to let you know they're being lazy.
-
Maybe they're not working.
-
They're claiming that they're doing one thing, but they're actually doing the exact opposite.
-
And obviously when you're in the world, no one likes to snitch,
-
but at the end of the day, the Bible tells us to be honest though.
-
To be truthful, to be honest, to expose lies
-
and to make sure that we are individuals of integrity
-
and not being this individual that just, well, I don't want to get in trouble.
-
I want to be liked by my co-workers.
-
I want to be liked by my family and friends.
-
So I'm just going to turn a blind eye to sinfulness and criminal acts or whatever it may be.
-
It's not right to do.
-
We need to be like Joseph and bring up the evil report to the Father.
-
Verse 3 says,
-
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children
-
because he was the son of his old age.
-
And he made him a coat of many colors.
-
So Joseph is favored of his father, Jacob,
-
and we see there because of the fact that it's the child of his old age
-
and the parallel that we can derive from this is the fact that God told Jesus,
-
this is my beloved son and whom I am well pleased.
-
He loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
That is his son.
-
And it specifically says that he made his son a coat of many colors.
-
So he made him this coat.
-
It's a raid with a variety of different colors.
-
Not my style, right?
-
But maybe his dad meant well or whatever.
-
And you think to yourself, what is the parallel there to Jesus Christ?
-
How does this relate to Jesus Christ?
-
Well, we're going to see what's going to be done to the coat later.
-
But I personally believe that the reason he gave him that coat of many colors
-
and why it parallels Jesus Christ
-
is because Jesus was made in the likeness of sinful flesh.
-
And when we talk about sinful flesh,
-
we're talking about everyone in this world no matter what color you are, right?
-
You know, red and yellow, black and white,
-
they are all precious in his sight.
-
So he took upon himself the form of sinful flesh.
-
And then later on, we see that this same coat is dipped in what?
-
Blood.
-
Why?
-
Because without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.
-
And so every kindred and tongue and nation
-
is given the opportunity to be covered in the blood
-
of the Lamb of God who should take away the sins of the world.
-
So I believe that this coat of many colors represents all nations, kindreds and tongues.
-
Look at verse 4 here.
-
It says,
-
And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren,
-
they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him.
-
So they don't like that he's favored above everyone else.
-
And obviously, you know, if we're to address this in a practical way,
-
it's never good to show favoritism to one child over the other, right?
-
You should love your children equally and not show some sort of favor
-
because you don't want to cause resentment in your other children
-
because if you're favoring one over the other,
-
your other children are going to know about it, right?
-
They're going to know that you're kind of lenient with this person.
-
You are favoring them.
-
You bless them more.
-
You know, you despise the other.
-
And that's not right to do.
-
You know, I believe that we as parents should make sure that we equally love all our children.
-
And here's the thing, like, you know, I have six kids.
-
I have a lot of kids.
-
I got six.
-
And I can honestly tell you with integrity of heart that I love all my children equally, okay?
-
And I don't favor one over the other.
-
If you're like, if you could just lose one, what would you lose?
-
None of them.
-
I love all my children.
-
And I can't picture my life without any one of them, you know?
-
And it's not like when I'm showing affection to one,
-
it's just like, oh, yeah, this is my favorite one right here.
-
Now, grandparents have a tendency to be that way towards their kids.
-
You know, kids sometimes, they're just like, this is the one.
-
But parents shouldn't be that way.
-
You know, we need to make sure that we favor our children.
-
You're like, what if I think one is cuter than the other or something like that?
-
You know, we need to just recognize that they're all beautiful in their own way, okay?
-
And, you know, we need to favor them and not, you know, cause, provoke them
-
to feel a sense of resentment because, oh, I just like this one more than the other or something like that.
-
It's wrong to do.
-
Jacob shouldn't do this.
-
And, you know, it's wrong for him to do this because, you know, he's obviously causing his other sons
-
to have bitterness not only towards Jacob, but more so towards Joseph.
-
And Joseph's not doing anything wrong, right?
-
And so don't be the parent that just shows favoritism towards one over the other
-
because, well, you know, we just get along better.
-
Or, you know, I just like this one more or something like that.
-
Well, if that's true, just don't verbalize it, okay?
-
Don't verbalize it and work on loving your children equally
-
because it's not right to have one favored over the other.
-
Now, it says here that they hated him and could not speak peaceably with him,
-
meaning that they're angry at him.
-
They're bitter towards him.
-
They don't want him to be in their company.
-
It says in verse 5 in Joseph dreamed a dream and he told it to his brethren
-
and they hated him yet the more.
-
So what does this mean?
-
You know, obviously we're going to look at the dreams that he's having
-
and they're very prophetic dreams.
-
These are dreams that are being given to him by God.
-
But let's address the practical aspect of this passage
-
and then we're going to get into the application
-
what this is actually illustrating in a spiritual way.
-
The practical thing is this, you know, if you are an ambitious person, right?
-
And, you know, your ambition, you know, you got to be careful
-
who you share your ambitions with.
-
Why? Because sometimes people are just haters.
-
You share your ambition, your goals and what you want to do
-
and, you know, sometimes people are, they're just like,
-
they just don't like the fact that you want to succeed.
-
You know, you share your dreams, so to speak
-
and then people, all they have to do is just want to criticize you
-
and try to stop you from succeeding, stop you from going forward.
-
You know, make sure you share your ambitions with ambitious people
-
or people that are in support of your success, okay?
-
Now, look, obviously, if you come to me and share your ambition
-
and it's a stupid idea, I'm going to tell you, okay?
-
Like, I think I'm going to open a lottery shop or something, you know?
-
And, you know, that's a stupid idea.
-
It's sinful, you know, obviously we need to be realistic about
-
goals and dreams and visions, right?
-
When I say vision, I'm talking about a dream,
-
some sort of ambition that you might have.
-
But at the end of the day, you know,
-
you need to make sure that you share your dreams
-
and your ambitions with the right kind of people.
-
Because I'm just going to tell you right now, in this world,
-
even amongst Christians, you have haters.
-
People who, oh, man, this guy, he wants to do this
-
or he has this ambition.
-
I don't think that's going to work.
-
You and I, you shouldn't do that.
-
I wouldn't try that if I were you.
-
You can't even do this or that or the other.
-
You know, when those types of words come out of someone's mouth,
-
just mark it down, this person is filled with envy.
-
What happened to Joseph's brothers?
-
What are they filled with?
-
Envy.
-
He told the dream and they're just like,
-
who does this guy think he is?
-
He's younger than us.
-
You know, he's having all these dreams or whatever,
-
that this is what he's going to do and they hate him for it.
-
So on a practical level, you know,
-
make sure you share your goals and successes,
-
if they're realistic, of course,
-
with people who are also realistic
-
and are willing to help you, encourage you
-
and are willing to just support you in that endeavor.
-
You know, I've been around people where
-
if I share a specific goal,
-
they're just like, oh, oh, okay.
-
You know, you say, how often do you share those dreams
-
with that person?
-
Nothing.
-
I don't share them with them anymore.
-
Because obviously I don't want to be around people
-
that douse your flame,
-
that just discourage you, right?
-
And again, you shouldn't want to share things like that
-
with haters because haters typically don't like to see you
-
succeed and they'll often,
-
even if they think that what you're doing will succeed,
-
they would do everything humanly possible
-
to demoralize you, okay?
-
Maybe you have a business venture
-
that you're trying to get off the ground, okay?
-
You're trying to succeed in a certain area.
-
You know, you better be careful sharing that goal
-
with a family member who hates on you, okay?
-
With a specific friend that just hates on you
-
or something like that.
-
Get around people who brainstorm with you.
-
Get around people who are willing to just add to the ideas.
-
Ask you how it's going.
-
Not like, oh, you know, whatever.
-
You know, I don't think that's going to work or whatever.
-
I tried that already or something.
-
Well, yeah, you didn't succeed
-
because you probably suck at it.
-
So, you know,
-
and you probably didn't have a good idea
-
to go along with it or something.
-
The point being here is that, you know,
-
I get that Joseph had the dream
-
but he probably shouldn't have shared it with his brothers
-
because his brothers are already bad.
-
And of course, he's sharing it with people
-
who are already mad at him for bringing up an evil report.
-
You understand?
-
And so, you know, be careful with that.
-
And, you know, I have family members
-
that I don't share anything with.
-
Because sometimes family members are haters, man.
-
You know, a prophet is not without honor.
-
Save it his own country.
-
That's what the Bible says.
-
And so often family members could look at you like,
-
well, you know,
-
I remember when you were this and this, that and the other.
-
I'd rather just let my success speak for itself.
-
Right?
-
So, let the numbers talk.
-
Let the numbers talk.
-
The success talk.
-
The goals talk.
-
The achievements talk.
-
Rather than trying to brainstorm with people
-
who don't want to see you succeed.
-
Okay?
-
And I've just learned that when it comes to
-
striving and endeavoring to accomplish something big,
-
you just ought to keep it to yourself
-
until it gets to a certain level.
-
That's my opinion, you know?
-
My opinion is if you are striving to accomplish something big,
-
you're like, you have a goal that you want to accomplish.
-
Maybe it's like weight loss or something, right?
-
Or maybe it's gains that you want to make.
-
Maybe it's a certain amount of money that you're trying to get.
-
Maybe it's like a side business
-
that you're trying to get off the ground.
-
Keep it hush, hush.
-
Share it with maybe only one other person.
-
Maybe your wife, your husband or something.
-
A very close friend.
-
But don't go blabbering about it
-
to everyone else because I'm just telling you right now
-
people can demoralize you.
-
So I just keep it hush, hush until the numbers blow up
-
and then people just start asking you about it
-
like, this is what I'm doing, you know?
-
I'll give you a really raw example.
-
You know, the Instagram, for example, you know?
-
I've had people just before the Instagram blow up
-
hate on the page.
-
Just hate on the content.
-
Hate on the page.
-
This is what you should be doing.
-
Is that any other?
-
And, you know, that's not going to work
-
and, you know, talking down on it.
-
And that was my fault for just sharing some of the goals
-
that I have, right?
-
And look, obviously not every idea you have
-
is going to take off, okay?
-
That's how things work.
-
Be a person who brainstorms.
-
Be a person who comes up with a library
-
and a catalog of ideas because eventually one will work.
-
And the way you get one to work is if you come up
-
with a bunch of different ideas.
-
So I've made a mistake of sharing stuff with people
-
and, you know, luckily I just didn't listen to them.
-
I just kept at it
-
and now here I am a year later
-
and it's blown up, right?
-
And so I realized like, oh, you know,
-
I got to be careful because if I listen
-
to the advice of these other individuals
-
then you know what?
-
I wouldn't have experienced the same success
-
because I would have been like, oh, they're right.
-
Maybe I shouldn't even try or something like that.
-
You know?
-
And, you know, don't base
-
whether you want to pursue a particular goal
-
based off of what other people think about it.
-
You know what I mean?
-
Like if I told someone a year ago, like,
-
I'm just going to make content about the Jews
-
and I'm confident that it's going to blow up,
-
I'm sure people would have been like,
-
no, you shouldn't do that.
-
You should be more well-rounded.
-
You know?
-
Be more well-rounded
-
and talk about other things.
-
You're not going to grow that.
-
Well, guess what?
-
I guess you're wrong, okay?
-
And people think like, oh,
-
you're just like a one-trick pony.
-
It doesn't work that way.
-
Instagram is a niche.
-
That's how it works.
-
You know what works when you drive in
-
one particular topic?
-
That's what works, okay?
-
You think I don't get tired about talking
-
about Jews all the time?
-
Jews are a grief unto me, okay?
-
They're grievous and they're vexing to my soul.
-
I don't like to think about Jews, okay?
-
They make me mad.
-
They make me frustrated.
-
So you think I'm just like,
-
can't wait to do it again?
-
I'm just doing what I know works.
-
You say, well, did you get any advice?
-
Nope.
-
Just test things out.
-
You have a goal.
-
You implement it and you let the number
-
speak for themselves.
-
People are like, well, yeah, you grew,
-
but you should be a little more well-rounded.
-
Well, you know, well-rounded doesn't
-
really work for a lot of people, though.
-
And so at 190,000 followers,
-
I think if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
-
At the end of the day, right?
-
And let me also say this.
-
Don't take advice from people who have
-
not succeeded in your area, okay?
-
You know, I'm trying to cut weight
-
and I'm doing decent, but I'm just
-
going to tell you right now, I'm not
-
going to learn from people who are
-
600 pounds, right?
-
It's not going to happen.
-
It's not going to happen.
-
It's just the way it works, you know?
-
I'm not going to take health advice
-
from a vegan or a vegetarian.
-
Well, actually, the science behind...
-
Let me look at your calves real quick.
-
What's going on here, you know?
-
What's going on here?
-
Well, actually, if you...
-
I'm not interested.
-
You're a bad representation of this whole topic.
-
I'm not interested in getting advice
-
from people who have not succeeded
-
in the area that I want to succeed in,
-
okay?
-
You know, you say, who do you get
-
advice from when it comes to church things?
-
Well, my sending pastor is one of them.
-
You say, why?
-
Because he succeeded.
-
The man has succeeded extensively.
-
Pastor Anderson has succeeded extensively.
-
So, yeah, that's who I want to get advice from, right?
-
I'm not going to get it from some, you know,
-
church out there who's running five.
-
Why would I get advice from...
-
I think the way we should do it is...
-
Bro, you're running five people in your church.
-
You're not the poster boy for success
-
on church growth here.
-
The point being here is that you need to make sure
-
that you dream, dream big,
-
but don't make the same mistake that Joseph made
-
and just share it with people who hate you.
-
You know?
-
And here's the thing.
-
Here's the best thing.
-
Here's the great thing about being hush-hush
-
about your goals until you succeed
-
is that if it doesn't succeed, no one knows about it.
-
So no one knows you failed.
-
You know what I mean?
-
Like, oh, that didn't work.
-
And just...
-
Mark it out.
-
I've had ideas that just failed,
-
but you don't know about them because I didn't tell you about them.
-
Okay?
-
And look, I have a podcast right now
-
and it's blowing up.
-
It's doing absolutely great.
-
I'm thankful to God for it
-
and it's just reaching a lot of people.
-
It's called the Engrafted Word.
-
I had this idea back in 2019.
-
This is something that I've been wanting to do for years.
-
And I literally already had the name.
-
I had episodes recorded.
-
I had this entire vision.
-
But, you know, I just, you know,
-
I just felt like it wouldn't succeed.
-
I didn't really have all the details.
-
And I never really shared it with anybody.
-
And I'm kind of glad I did it
-
because maybe six years ago,
-
you know, when I came up with the idea,
-
if I shared it with someone,
-
people would be like,
-
oh, that doesn't really work.
-
You know, it's not going to really blow up.
-
It's not going to really do anything.
-
And that probably would have demoralized me, you know?
-
So I'm glad that when I decided to, like, implement it,
-
I didn't tell anybody.
-
It just blows up.
-
So let the numbers speak for themselves.
-
Dream, have goals, have things you want to achieve.
-
Share with people who are going to aid you, you know,
-
and they're not going to demoralize you.
-
They're going to promote you.
-
They're going to support you.
-
And they're going to be real with you.
-
You don't want to be around a bunch of yes men either.
-
You want to be around people
-
who actually tell you the truth, right?
-
Like, this diet you're on, you're still fat.
-
So I'm just, I know you think you're losing weight,
-
but you're not really losing weight.
-
You know what I mean?
-
You're still fat.
-
All right, bro.
-
Thanks.
-
You know?
-
You're looking out, bro.
-
You know?
-
But here's the thing.
-
If you're losing weight, don't be a hater.
-
Make that, let that person know.
-
Hey, yeah, you look a little thin.
-
A little bit, you know?
-
It looks like it's working a little bit.
-
Or, you know, hey, you know, you've grown some muscle.
-
You look a little bigger or whatever.
-
Be around people who are just going to be realistic
-
and real with you.
-
They're not going to be haters, okay?
-
So that's the practical aspect of this passage.
-
What is a spiritual application here?
-
Well, obviously we know that he's dreaming a dream,
-
but, you know, we can say a dream is a vision.
-
The Bible says, well, there is no vision.
-
The people perish, but happy is the man to keep it the law.
-
And so this could be synonymous with, like, preaching, right?
-
When we preach to people, we're telling them
-
the vision of God's Word.
-
So what is he doing?
-
He's, like, preaching to his brothers.
-
He's prophesying to his brothers
-
of things that must shortly come to pass.
-
And what happens?
-
They hate him for it.
-
And, you know, this is the result of preaching.
-
People just hate you for it.
-
Now, may it never be said, though,
-
that when the man of God gets behind the pulpit,
-
Passover here gets behind the pulpit and starts preaching
-
that the people who are hating it
-
are the people in the congregation.
-
You better not be hating this preaching.
-
If you do, just leave and just don't come back
-
because you can't handle preaching.
-
You know, we should embrace preaching.
-
The Bible says, despise not prophesying,
-
meaning that you should have this love relationship
-
with the preaching of God's Word
-
and not despise it.
-
You know, obviously we all love preaching
-
when the sermon is against someone else,
-
but we should like it even if it's against us.
-
And look, folks, I've been there in the congregation
-
where the pastor's preaching against your sin
-
and then your face is just red.
-
I've been there.
-
I remember, like, my father-in-law preaching against me
-
and I'm just like, I'm like, he's talking about me.
-
Like, he's just divulging what I just told him
-
and he's just preaching against me right now.
-
But I wasn't mad at him.
-
I was like, pfft, can't believe this guy.
-
I'm never gonna ask him for any advice ever again.
-
You know what it caused me to do?
-
To just get right with God.
-
That's what you're supposed to do.
-
If you get bitter instead of better,
-
then you don't love preaching.
-
You just love to hear people scream
-
and preach against other people except for you.
-
Loving preaching is when you love preaching
-
against others and against yourself.
-
Amen.
-
So he's dreaming a dream.
-
He's telling it to his brother.
-
He's preaching to them.
-
He's prophesying.
-
That's what preaching is, prophesying.
-
He's prophetically addressing
-
what's gonna take place in the future
-
and what's the result.
-
They hate him for it.
-
Now we expect for the unsafe to hate us for it, right?
-
We expect for people who are limp-wristed,
-
soft-sew Christians to hate this kind of preaching.
-
We expect the Calvary Chapel types,
-
the non-denom types to hate this
-
because of the fact that they can't handle it, right?
-
So, you know, they hated us without a cause,
-
but sometimes it's just like they just hate us
-
because of the truth.
-
We're preaching the truth.
-
We're proclaiming the Word of God.
-
And we're not using this liberal
-
Christian-ese or something like that.
-
Let me just say something really controversial right now.
-
Jesus is God.
-
You know, it's like...
-
Let me just say something really controversial right now.
-
You shouldn't sin.
-
Oh, thank you, Sherlock.
-
Let me just say something really controversial right now.
-
We need to be in church.
-
You know?
-
Here's something controversial.
-
Faggots! How about that?
-
God hates homos! How about that?
-
How about quoting Leviticus 2013?
-
How about preaching from Romans chapter 1?
Romans 1 chapter mention
-
How about expounding upon Genesis chapter 19?
Genesis 19 chapter mention
-
How about preaching against divorce?
-
How about preaching against alcohol?
-
How about preaching against fornicators and adulterers?
-
Oh, no, because then you'll get hated for it, right?
-
How about preaching against faggots and transvestites
-
and pedophiles and saying that they deserve the death penalty?
-
How about that?
-
You know, that's my dream.
-
But you know what the result of that is that people hate you for it.
-
And so they hated him for it.
-
They hate him because he's favorite of his father,
-
just like the Jews hated Jesus because he was beloved of the father.
-
They hated him because he brought up their evil report just as Jesus brought up the evil report of the Jews.
-
And they hated him for his preaching just like the Jews hated Jesus for his preaching.
-
Again, I mean, there's instances in the gospels where Jesus Christ is preaching the house down
-
and they're picking up stones to stone him because they can't handle what he's saying.
-
They don't like what he's saying.
-
They perceive that he's spake this against him.
-
That's what the Bible says.
-
Like, oh, you're talking about us, huh?
-
You know, in Matthew chapter 21,
Matthew 21 chapter mention
-
we have Jesus saying that the Kingdom of God should be taken from you
-
and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
-
And he's saying that, you know, the stone with which the builders rejected,
-
the same as becoming the head of the corner,
-
this is the Lord's doing and how marvelous it is in our eyes.
-
And then what does the Bible say?
-
It says of the Jews, I think he's talking about us.
-
And they hated him for it.
-
It's like, yeah, he is talking about you guys.
-
And so we have Joseph essentially preaching to his brothers about this dream
-
and then they're just increasing in their hatred towards him.
-
Look at verse 6 and he said unto them,
-
Here I pray you this dream which I have dreamed.
-
For behold, we were binding sheaves in the field
-
and lo, my sheaf arose and also stood upright
-
and behold, your sheaf stood round about
-
and made obeisance to my sheaf.
-
And his brothers said unto them,
-
Shout thou and deed reign over us
-
or shout thou and deed have dominion over us
-
and they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.
-
So obviously Joseph doesn't have a whole lot of discretion.
-
He's like, let me tell you, this dream,
-
like I'm better than you.
-
Like we're binding sheaves and we all got these bundles
-
but my bundles bigger and then your sheaves
-
are just like bowing down to me and they're just like
-
and keep in mind, he's the younger brother.
-
Now what is the spiritual application here?
-
Well, you know, we can apply this to Old and New Testament.
-
The brothers representing the Jews and the Old Testament,
-
Joseph representing believers and the New Testament.
-
And you know what? The Old Testament bows down.
-
The sheaf of the Old Testament bows
-
to the sheaf of the Gentiles in the New Testament.
-
You know, the Bible literally says regarding the Jews
-
in Revelation 3.9, you know,
-
they would say they are Jews and are not
-
but are the synagogue of Satan.
-
I will make them to come and worship before thy feet
-
and to know that I have loved thee
-
just as Jacob loved Joseph,
-
just as the sheaves of the brothers bowed down
-
to Joseph's sheaf in like manner.
-
Jesus says, I'm going to make them to bow down
-
before your feet and to know that I have loved thee.
-
So the sheaf of the brothers, that Old Testament,
-
the accumulation of all those salvation
-
of the Old Testament will bow and be pale
-
in comparison to the amount of people
-
that the New Testament sheaf will produce.
-
Understand? Because at the end of the day
-
more people have been saved from the time of Christ
-
or the time or the institution of Israel
-
to the conclusion of the Old Testament.
-
Why? Because of the fact that they were supposed to be
-
allotted to the Gentiles, they were not.
-
And of course the New Testament now includes
-
Gentiles among believing Jews.
-
So they hated him for it. They were just like,
-
and it says in verse 8,
-
shall thou indeed reign over us?
-
Isn't that exactly the problem that Jews
-
had about regarding Jesus?
-
They didn't want Jesus to reign over them.
-
Are you going to reign over us?
-
Shall thou indeed have dominion over us?
-
Yes! Yes, he will.
-
It says in verse 9,
-
and he dreamed yet another dream
-
and told it to his brethren
-
and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more
-
and behold, the Son of the moon
-
and the eleven stars made obeisance to me
-
and he told it to his father and to his brethren
-
and his father rebuked him
-
and said unto him, What is this dream
-
that thou has dreamed?
-
Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren
-
indeed come to bow down ourselves
-
to thee, to the earth?
-
So, you know, Joseph, God bless him
-
but he's just, he's not learning here.
-
You know, if my brother started hating me,
-
I'm like, I don't think I'm going to tell him anymore.
-
Like, these guys are mad at me right now
-
and I'm getting all these dreams.
-
I should go talk to someone else.
-
But to a certain degree he kind of did,
-
he went and told his father
-
and his father rebuked him.
-
He was very upset.
-
And keep in mind his father loved Joseph
-
but he doesn't like this dream that he's having.
-
And you know, this is kind of like
-
what you have with Jesus
-
and his stepfather and, of course, his earthly mother
-
who they just couldn't really understand and grasp,
-
you know, that he must be about his father's business.
-
Right?
-
So he's telling this dream,
-
he is demonstrating that basically
-
his mom, and of course his mom at this point
-
has passed away.
-
But that his father and his brothers,
-
basically the entire nation of Israel
-
is going to be in,
-
they're going to be subject to Joseph
-
and we, because we know the story,
-
this is referring to what's going to take place in Egypt.
-
Verse 11,
-
And his brethren envied him
-
but his father observed the same.
-
This is very similar to what Mary said
-
when they lost Jesus
-
and she observed the same in her heart.
-
But it states here that his brethren envied him.
-
So why do they hate Joseph?
-
It's because they hate his status.
-
They want what he is.
-
They want that same favor.
-
They want what he has.
-
And look, envy is rottenness of the bones.
-
That's what the Bible says.
-
And we as Christians need to make sure
-
that we are not envious people.
-
We need to keep that in check
-
because every Christian has the propensity to be envious.
-
We see someone succeed,
-
someone possess the things that we want,
-
have the status that we would want,
-
the acclamations, the praise of others,
-
whatever it may be,
-
and there could be a sinful inclination to say,
-
well, I want that.
-
I want the position that this person has.
-
I want to be like this person.
-
And then you begin to envy that person
-
and that is a sinful thing to do.
-
You've got to be content with who you are.
-
And look, if you don't like
-
not receiving praise for certain deeds
-
or accomplishments, then do something.
-
Here's what you're supposed to do as a Christian.
-
Number one, rejoice when your brother or sister succeeds.
-
That will help you squelch the envy
-
even if it just kind of hurts you to do it.
-
Just do it anyways
-
because you've got to subject it to flesh.
-
The flesh is like,
-
they're saying he did a good job.
-
I don't think I'm better or something like that.
-
Go over and say, you know what, he did do a good job.
-
You did a fantastic job.
-
You're doing a great job
-
and that'll help you kill the envy.
-
But let me just say this, if that's not enough
-
then go do something greater then.
-
Go do something greater,
-
go accomplish something,
-
go get better at what you do
-
and you know what?
-
You will receive praise for it.
-
But just don't be an envious person.
-
Trying to tear people down
-
just because they're more successful
-
than you or something like that.
-
What's stopping you from being successful?
-
It's not the person who's succeeding,
-
it's you.
-
You're the lazy individual.
-
You're the person without vision.
-
You're the person without dreams, without ambition.
-
You're the brokey, okay?
-
Go do something about it
-
instead of envying others for the things that they have.
-
And look, at the end of the day
-
there's instances where envy is sinful
-
and you can't try to do better
-
in order to, you know,
-
achieve the same success because the Bible tells us
-
that we should not envy sinners.
-
Sometimes Christians envy
-
unsafe people and it's not right to do that
-
and there's nothing that you can do
-
to achieve what they have
-
because God doesn't want you to have that.
-
God doesn't want you to be a wicked person, right?
-
You know, these young people today
-
let me say this, you need to stop envying
-
people like Clave.
-
The Muggers.
-
Oh man, I just wish
-
I was just like him or something.
-
And look, this guy has a lot of influence.
-
You old timers, you guys, you know,
-
just tune me out right now.
-
This is for the younger people.
-
You know, a lot of people are into this guy.
-
But let me just say this,
-
if you're a dude into that guy, you're acting like a faggot.
-
Super gay, looks maxing thing.
-
That's super faggoty.
-
It's un-Christian.
-
It's a godless attitude to have.
-
Okay? It's vain
-
and God's not pleased with that.
-
And what it demonstrates is that you're envious of the wicked.
-
You're envious of sinners.
-
I mean, that guy is a major fornicator.
-
He's extremely wicked.
-
He's extremely prideful.
-
He's not a representation of Christianity.
-
Well, I'm just trying to like integrate that
-
into like who I am and make myself better.
-
How about you just like
-
exercise thyself rather onto godliness?
-
I don't see a verse in the Bible
-
that says just, you know,
-
part of godliness is just improving
-
bone smashing,
-
getting plastic surgery or something like that.
-
Just you can visibly look better
-
in Mugg or something.
-
You know, why don't you spiritually Mugg?
-
It's supposed to be the most important.
-
Get soul saved, read the Bible,
-
you know, keep under your body,
-
bring it into subjection,
-
learn how to rule your own spirit
-
and you're like, well,
-
you know, I just want to be attractive,
-
you know, well, you know.
-
If you're not, praise God
-
because then that means certain sins
-
are just not available to you.
-
And that's a blessing.
-
It's funny, but it's a blessing though.
-
You know, that is a blessing.
-
Because you know, there's people who maybe
-
in this world, according to this world,
-
standards are attractive and you know what,
-
they're going to destroy their lives.
-
So if you're chopped, you're ugly,
-
praise God for that, you know what I mean?
-
Well, how am I supposed to get married?
-
Look, there's a lot of women in this world,
-
one of them has to want you.
-
How many, what's the,
-
what we're at right now in the population
-
of the world, like 6 billion?
-
8 billion?
-
Come on.
-
There has to be one.
-
Has to be.
-
And when you have God on your side,
-
you have godliness,
-
you have all these things going for you,
-
you have the Lord on your side,
-
you know, a prudent wife is of the Lord.
-
So you don't have to rely upon
-
the evil people of this world
-
to get yourself a woman,
-
because let me just tell you, that guy,
-
all he's teaching you is how to get bad women.
-
Just godless, wicked women.
-
A bunch of whores and sluts.
-
So that's off the table for you,
-
if you're a Christian, okay?
-
You know,
-
the point being here is that
-
we should not envy sinners.
-
But we should also not envy other Christians.
-
Just improve yourself.
-
Ask God for his favor.
-
Pray God, Lord, please favor me.
-
You know, give me your power,
-
show me favor,
-
may your hand be upon me.
-
Annoy me with the Holy Spirit of God.
-
Give me boldness.
-
Help me to just succeed as a Christian.
-
Pray that down, amen.
-
Instead of being like Joseph's brother,
-
just envious of him because he's
-
preaching against their sin.
-
He's ambitious. He's doing all these great things.
-
Look at verse 12.
-
And he said to him,
-
here am I.
-
And he said to him,
-
go, I pray thee,
-
see whether it be well with thy
-
with thy brethren,
-
and well with the flocks,
-
and bring me word again.
-
So he sent him out of the veil of
-
Hebron, and he came to sheik'em.
-
So what we have here
-
is the Father sending the son
-
to see the state of
-
the brethren, right?
-
So the way we can apply this is like,
-
God the Father sending Jesus Christ
-
unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel
-
to see how they fare.
-
Okay?
-
And they basically respond
-
the exact same way
-
that Israel responded to Jesus.
-
He came into his own
-
and his own received them not.
-
It says in verse number 15,
-
and a certain man found him.
-
Behold, he was wandering in the field,
-
and the man asked him saying,
-
what seekest thou?
-
And he said, I seek my brethren,
-
tell me I pray thee,
-
where they feed their flocks.
-
And the man said,
-
they are departed.
-
Hence, for I heard them say,
-
let us go to Dothan.
-
And Joseph went after his brethren
-
and found them in Dothan.
-
And when they saw him afar off,
-
even before he came near into them,
-
they conspired against him
-
to slay him.
-
This is extremely evil.
-
Think about this.
-
Okay?
-
You know,
-
you are sent by your father and Aaron
-
to see how your brethren do,
-
where they are, just to get a report.
-
Your brothers, your blood brothers,
-
see from afar off,
-
and all they can do is try to
-
conspire to murder you.
-
They're like, what can we do to kill him?
-
I mean, that's hatred.
-
That's like, deep hatred.
-
And look, I have family members
-
that I just don't get along with at all,
-
but there's not an ounce of hatred
-
to the point where I would want them to die.
-
You know, unless there's, of course,
-
there's a reprobate,
-
but I don't even think about them at all.
-
And even then,
-
I'm not conspiring to kill them.
-
I mean, think about that.
-
This is extremely wicked.
-
It's evil,
-
but it also illustrates the fact
-
that that's exactly what the Jews did to Jesus.
-
They conspired to kill him
-
from the beginning of his ministry
-
all the way to the end.
-
It says in verse 19,
-
and they said,
-
one to another,
-
behold, this dreamer cometh.
-
Come now, therefore,
-
and let us slay him
-
and cast him into some pit.
-
And we will say,
-
some evil beast hath devoured him,
-
and we shall see
-
what will become of his dreams.
-
So this demonstrates that, you know,
-
sometimes you can piss people off
-
when you're preaching God's word
-
to the point where they'll be willing to kill you.
-
And we see that in the Bible.
-
You can piss people off
-
with your preaching so bad
-
that they'll blow up your church.
-
They will bomb your church
-
because they just don't like what you say.
-
It's a free country,
-
but they don't care.
-
They will bomb you.
-
They will assault you.
-
They will kill you
-
just because they don't like what you believe
-
and what you preach.
-
They conspired.
-
And, you know, these conspirators,
-
they're not honest.
-
They're already making up the story
-
of what they're going to say,
-
of what happened.
-
And in fact, you know,
-
prior to getting bombed
-
when we were being protested,
-
they were making all kinds of stuff up.
-
Now, a lot of the stuff they said were true.
-
Okay?
-
You know, I did say
-
they won't find us here in the ghetto.
-
You can quote me on that.
-
Okay?
-
I did say that pedophiles and homos
-
should be put to death.
-
Good with that.
-
But some of the other stuff they were saying
-
is just like, I don't think I ever said that.
-
You know, like, the main person,
-
you know, was coming up and saying,
-
he's part of the International Federation Baptist.
-
I'm like, dang, I'm international.
-
She said, oh, IFB.
-
Like, the dumb broad
-
didn't even do her homework
-
to figure out what IFB even meant.
-
It was just like, IFB,
-
International Federation Baptist.
-
Sounds like a wrestling thing or something.
-
Well, let me just say this.
-
You know, evil people
-
do no homework
-
when it comes to stuff like that.
-
It's like Paul Winberg, right?
-
You know, he made this film
-
and then he's like adding Pastor Stuckey on there,
-
but he can't even get the name of the church right.
-
And this is supposed to be
-
just this great investigative documentary
-
exposing the man of God.
-
The guy can't even get his facts straight.
-
It's ridiculous.
-
You know, the International Federation Baptist.
-
I was like, man, I'm known internationally, apparently.
-
But they don't care.
-
They don't care about the facts.
-
They just want to, you know,
-
hire men of the baser sort.
-
They want to accumulate
-
all these false accusations
-
to rile up the population
-
to get people to just hate you.
-
And unfortunately, in the day and age in which we live,
-
it's not hard to rile people up.
-
Online.
-
They don't need any facts to rile people up.
-
You could just make videos,
-
especially with AI now,
-
and just boomers believe it, right?
-
Gen Xers, boomers,
-
and millennials will believe it.
-
You know, just like,
-
now all of a sudden,
-
all of a sudden the ice wall
-
is just clearly seen now, isn't it?
-
It's like, oh, so many clear footage,
-
so much clear footage of the ice wall.
-
Now, how convenient.
-
Now the AI is just so good.
-
Now the ice wall is just present or something, right?
-
And that's not the only thing.
-
They do this for everything.
-
And you know what?
-
Boomers are just like, I knew it.
-
Skinwalkers, I knew it.
-
Look at this clear footage of skinwalkers.
-
They don't need the actual facts.
-
They don't need any legitimate footage.
-
They're willing to believe just anything, okay?
-
And so they're conspiring against him.
-
It says in verse 20,
-
come now therefore let us slay him.
-
Cast him into some pit.
-
That's actually verse 21.
-
And Reuben heard it,
-
and he delivered him out of their hands
-
and said, let us not kill him.
-
And Reuben said into them,
-
shed no blood,
-
but cast him into this pit
-
that is in the wilderness
-
and lay no hand upon him
-
that he might rid him out of their hands
-
to deliver him to his father again.
-
So, you know,
-
Reuben's not necessarily the most moral guy
-
as we saw in the previous chapters.
-
But, you know, he has his limits.
-
And one thing he's not willing to cross
-
is the boundary of murdering his brother.
-
So he's trying to act like he's going along
-
with the conspiracy,
-
but he's like, well, let's not kill him.
-
Just put him in this pit.
-
But in his mind,
-
he's going to come back
-
and deliver him out of the pit
-
once the brothers are gone
-
and then bring him back to his dad.
-
It says in verse 23,
-
and it came to pass
-
when Joseph was coming to his brethren
-
that they stripped Joseph out of his coat,
-
his coat of many colors that was on him,
-
and they took him and cast him into a pit.
-
And the pit was empty.
-
There was no water in it.
-
And they sat down to eat bread.
-
They lifted up their eyes
-
and looked and behold,
-
the company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead
-
with their camels,
-
barren, spicer and balm and myrrh,
-
going to carry it down to Egypt.
-
So, we see that they're stripping up of his garments
-
just as we see with Jesus Christ
-
when he was being taken to the cross.
-
They removed his garments.
-
They parted his garments.
-
They cast lot for his garments
-
just as they did with Joseph.
-
Verse 26,
-
What profit is it
-
if we slay our brother
-
and conceal his blood?
-
Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites
-
and let not our hand be upon him
-
for he is our brother
-
and our flesh
-
and his brethren were contempt.
-
So, this is really sad.
-
You know, they're basically
-
going to sell him into slavery.
-
Think about this.
-
You're 17 years old.
-
You're literally just doing what your dad
-
asked you to do.
-
And then your brothers
-
first conspired to kill you.
-
But then they're like,
-
well, what good is that to us?
-
We don't benefit from that.
-
Let's just sell him.
-
It's super sad.
-
Now, obviously we've read the story
-
and hopefully you've already
-
read the book of Genesis.
-
But you can see why this is so emotional
-
at the very end, right?
-
When Joseph can just, like,
-
kill them all.
-
He could just, like,
-
off all of them
-
because he's remembering all this.
-
He was sold into slavery
-
literally taken out of the country
-
out of his nation
-
away from his loving father
-
from his family
-
just because his brother
-
envied him.
-
It says in verse number 29
-
and Reuben returned unto the pit
-
and behold Joseph was not in the pit
-
and he rent his clothes
-
and he returned to his brother
-
and said, the child is not
-
and I, where the shall I go?
-
And they took Joseph's coat
-
and killed the kid of the goats
-
and dipped the coat in the blood
-
and they sent the coat of many colors
-
and they brought it to their father
-
and said, this have we found
-
no now, whether it be
-
thy son's coat or no.
-
So, this is the lie they're coming up with
-
and obviously this is a picture
-
of the fact that, you know,
-
you have the coat of many colors
-
that represents the kindreds,
-
tongues and nations
-
being dipped in the blood
-
of Jesus Christ and in fact,
-
you have in Revelation 19
-
the garment that Jesus Christ is wearing
-
is dipped as a vesture as
-
there was dipped in blood,
-
the Bible says, right?
-
So they do that, they remove that,
-
they conspire, they lie about it
-
and this is exactly
-
what the nation of Israel did
-
when Jesus Christ resurrected
-
out of the pit, right?
-
They conspired to lie,
-
they made up a story
-
that they stole his body away,
-
you know, and their pain off,
-
the Roman soldiers to basically
-
go with that narrative
-
because they're just lying about it.
-
Now, put yourself in Jacob's shoes, right?
-
When you hear this report
-
that a beast killed your son,
-
that's what they're
-
basically implying here.
-
It says in verse number 33
-
and he knew it
-
and said, it is my son's coat
-
and evil beast had devoured him.
-
Joseph is without doubt
-
rent in pieces.
-
So we obviously see that
-
they sell Joseph to the
-
Ishmaelites for 20 pieces of silver
-
just as Jesus Christ was also
-
sold by Judas
-
for 30 pieces of silver as well, right?
-
You have that same,
-
that parallel there.
-
Verse 35 says in all his sons
-
and all his daughters rose up to come for him
-
but he refused to be comforted
-
and he said, for I will go down
-
into the grave unto my son
-
mourning thus his father
-
wept for him. So this is really sad, you know?
-
He's under this impression
-
that Joseph is dead,
-
that he's been mauled by an animal
-
and eaten by an animal
-
and Joseph, just in a moment's notice
-
life changed for him.
-
Life completely changes from him.
-
And you think to yourself like
-
why would this happen? Why would God allow this to happen to Joseph, right?
-
And the conclusion is this
-
God can't override
-
the will of man.
-
The evil will of man
-
they're going to carry out
-
whatever it is that they want to do.
-
Obviously we can bank on the protection of God
-
but at the end of the day
-
God has given free will to man
-
to do evil things
-
and we can rely upon
-
the protection of God. But we also have to realize
-
that if we are
-
the recipients of someone else's evil will
-
we know for a fact
-
that all things still work together for good
-
to them that love God. To them who are the called
-
according to his purpose.
-
Because man a lot of evil was done. We're going to see over the next couple chapters
-
obviously 38 has nothing
-
to do with Joseph, you know?
-
But over the next couple of chapters
-
we're going to see a lot of evil that's done to Joseph
-
like just, he's just wrong
-
time and time again
-
just lied about
-
forgotten
-
abandoned, right? Just
-
absolutely defrauded
-
just being wrong. But what happens each time
-
the Lord is with Joseph.
-
And look folks
-
if someone does evil unto you
-
you better make
-
sure that the Lord is with you.
-
If you wanted to work together
-
for good
-
if you wanted to end like Joseph's story
-
you better make sure that the Lord is with you
-
because I'm telling you right now
-
there's Christians who people have done evil to
-
but because they're not walking with God
-
they don't have God with them
-
they don't have God's blessing
-
they just end in that situation
-
and what happens they become bitter
-
resentful
-
out of the will of God
-
lives are destroyed and they become this
-
byword and proverb of a person
-
who is just simply the innocent recipient
-
of someone else's evil deeds
-
you know we don't know the future
-
we don't know what's going to happen in our personal lives
-
but we do know that there's evil people out there
-
and you know what sometimes they're just
-
not restrained they can mess with
-
us they can do evil unto us
-
they can wrong us and you know what
-
we can't control that all we
-
can control though is if the Lord is with us or not
-
your primary goal as a Christian
-
should always be to make sure that
-
God is with you and I'm not
-
saying like say God is with you
-
that doesn't make God with you
-
I know the Lord
-
there's a bunch of unsay people that say that stuff
-
only God can judge me
-
yeah we know that's why you're in hell
-
Tupac
-
you know oh man
-
I just know that the Lord is with me
-
are you sure about that
-
you sure about that
-
you better make sure you're abiding in the vine
-
you better make sure you're in church
-
you better make sure you're reading the Word of God
-
better make sure that you're praying
-
better make sure that you're obeying the commandments of the Lord
-
better make sure you're keeping your heart clean
-
you better make sure that you are
-
walking with God
-
you're in agreement with the Lord because
-
can two walk together except to be agreed
-
be in agreement with the Lord
-
and his commandments
-
make sure that you're serving the Lord
-
so you can say with confidence
-
the Lord is with me
-
and look you're gonna need that
-
sometime this year
-
you're gonna go through a situation
-
I'm like man I don't know if the Lord is with me or not
-
you know
-
why do you not believe he's with you
-
well because I'm involved in sin
-
well yeah that'll do it
-
you better make sure you repent
-
better make sure you get right with God
-
you better make sure you know what the will of the Lord is
-
I mean the Bible literally says
-
be not unwise
-
but understanding what the will of the Lord is
-
see that you walk
-
circumspectly not as fools
-
but as wise the Bible says
-
saying that the Lord is with me
-
is not enough my friends
-
the Bible specifically says
-
you better make sure that you're wise
-
you walk circumspectly
-
that you understand what the will of the Lord is
-
and you understand
-
what God requires of you
-
you better make sure that you're obedient to the Lord
-
to make sure that the Lord is with you
-
and you know what
-
Joseph is wrong for years
-
but the Bible just constantly tells
-
the Lord is with Joseph
-
the Lord is with Joseph
-
the Lord is with Joseph
-
and so you know
-
we're going to be taking through a pretty crazy trip
-
a gnarly trip for Joseph
-
and we see his emotions
-
and everything that takes place
-
but the overarching theme of Joseph
-
is like God is just with him
-
throughout every single step
-
and look just keep in mind that with Joseph
-
this happened over a span of a couple decades
-
so if you're in a situation
-
where you're going through a hard time
-
just remember Joseph went through a hard time
-
for a long time
-
you know
-
and without having the written word of God
-
there's only
-
the prophetic word of God right
-
the verbal word of God there was no written Bible
-
at this particular time
-
you have the written word of God
-
verse 36 says in the Median nights
-
sold him into Egypt
-
unto Potiphar
-
an officer of Pharaohs
-
and a captain of the guard
-
and I love how the Bible is written
-
it just kind of leaves us with that cliffhanger going into chapter 38
-
and then of course 39 is where we
-
pick up with Potiphar
-
what's the point of the chapter here
-
the point of the chapter is that
-
God ended up using Joseph
-
in such a great manner
-
through all this whole situation
-
this whole debacle
-
to demonstrate that the Lord is with him
-
and he ended up using him to be a
-
typology of Jesus Christ
-
Joseph didn't know that
-
he didn't know that
-
everything that was happening to him
-
was supposed to represent the Lord Jesus Christ in the future
-
you know he didn't know that
-
Judah was supposed to be the one
-
to really represent the Lord Jesus Christ
-
but obviously
-
chapter 38 he messes that up
-
so God ends up turning his attention
-
towards Joseph
-
and Joseph just ends up becoming this beautiful picture
-
of Jesus and everything that he went through
-
and so let's pray
-
Father we thank you so much for your word
-
thank you for the life of Joseph
-
and help us to recognize
-
Lord the importance
-
of just prophesying
-
dreaming
-
having a vision of the word of God
-
but recognizing that not everyone
-
who hears the dream is going to like it
-
not everyone who hears the vision
-
is going to approve of it
-
and in fact not only will people hate us for it
-
the Bible also says
-
that they will envy us for it
-
and they're going to be willing to take
-
some extreme measures
-
to shut us up
-
and I pray that if anything Lord
-
that we learn from tonight is that
-
we have you with us every step of the way
-
and maybe something
-
that we're confident in on a daily basis
-
help us Lord as we
-
learn from the life and the chronicles here of Joseph
-
to apply these principles to our lives
-
in Jesus name we pray amen
