Shalom, beloved. You are warmly welcome to today's morning glory devotion.
-
I am delighted to be coming your way again with
-
another inspired devotional written by Mr. and Mrs. Kusi from
-
the Harvest Chapel International, Denyame Kumasi. Let us begin by
-
sharing a word of prayer. Dear Father, You bless Your
-
holy name for the gift of life and the privilege
-
to gather in Your presence. As we listen to Your
-
word today, please speak to our hearts, renew our minds,
-
and give us the will to put into practice what
-
Your Spirit is saying to us, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
-
Let us kindly take our confession for today from Joshua
-
chapter 1 verse 8. Joshua chapter 1 the verse 8.
Joshua 1 chapter mention
-
This book of the law shall not depart from my mouth,
-
but I shall meditate in it day and night, that
-
I may observe to do according to all that is
-
written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen. Today's message,
-
written by Mr. and Mrs. Cousy, is titled, God Has
-
a Wild Card. God Has a Wild Card. Our scripture
-
reading shall be taken from Ruth chapter 4, verse 16
-
to 17. Ruth chapter 4, verse 16 to 17. I
-
will be reading from the New King James Version. Then
-
Naomi took the child. and laid him on her bosom,
-
and became a nurse to him. Also the neighbor woman
-
gave him a name, saying, There is a son born
-
to Naomi, and they called his name Obed. He is
-
the father of Jesse, the father of David. The Lord
-
add his blessings to the reading and hearing of this word.
-
Thanks be to God. Amen. God has a wild card.
-
God has a wild card. Quite recently, some friends and
-
I were sitting around a table playing a game of
-
cards called Uno. As the game went on, I noticed
-
a quiet strategy. People rarely played their wild cards early.
-
They held on to them tucked away in reserves. waiting
-
for the exact moment when everyone else thought the game
-
was decided. Then, just when the outcome seemed completely obvious,
-
someone would throw down a wild card, and the entire
-
direction of the game would change suddenly. This made me
-
think about how God works when our lives feel completely spent.
-
There are seasons when we look at our circumstances and
-
conclude that the story is finished The opportunities have passed.
-
The losses are too heavy. The damage is done. But
-
while we are busy calculating the empty hand we are holding,
-
God still has a card in reserve. Naomi understood what
-
it meant to have an empty hand. She left Bethlehem
-
full of hope alongside her husband and two sons. But
-
life did not go according to her plans. she lost
-
her husband and her sons. The future she had envisioned
-
was buried in the dust of a foreign land. When
-
she finally returned to her hometown, she told her old neighbors,
-
Do not call me Naomi, which means pleasant. Call me Mara,
-
because the Almighty has made me bitter. Perhaps you know
-
that exact bitterness. You might be looking at a failed venture,
-
a broken relationship, or a fiscal struggle that refuses to lift.
-
You have run the numbers and they do not add up.
-
Like Naomi, you have written the final chapter of your
-
own story and it ends in defeat. But Naomi did
-
not know what God had in reserve. Hidden in the
-
quiet loyalty of her daughter-in-law, Ruth, was God's unexpected move.
-
Ruth would meet Boaz. Their home would welcome a baby
-
boy named Obed. And that little boy, laid in the
-
arms of a grandmother who thought her life was over,
-
would become the grandfather of King David and the ancestor
-
of Jesus Christ. Beloved, Naomi judged her life by the
-
painful pain she was stuck on. But God was looking
-
at the whole book. He's never surprised by your setbacks.
-
He's not scrambling for a solution to your crisis. Even
-
when the silence feels absolute, his hand is already moving.
-
What looks like the final page of your grief may
-
simply be the space where he reveals his unexpected grace.
-
Would you trust him today? would you trust him with
-
the hand you are holding? God richly bless you. Our
-
memory verse for today is taken from Psalm 71, the
-
verse 14. Psalm 71, the verse 14. I will be
-
reading from the New King James Version. But as for me,
-
I will hope continually and will praise you more and more.
-
But as for me, I will hope continually and will
-
praise you more and more. Amen. Let us kindly share
-
a word of prayer. Our Heavenly Father, we thank you
-
that you always have a plan even when our circumstances
-
seem completely hopeless. Forgive us for the times we have
-
judged our lives by our painful seasons. and concluded that
-
our story was over. Please give us the grace to
-
completely trust you with the empty hands we are holding today,
-
knowing that you are never surprised by our setbacks. Please
-
strengthen our faith to wait on your unexpected grace and
-
let your perfect will unfold in our lives. In Jesus'
-
mighty name. Amen. Beloved, what looks like the final page
-
of your grief may simply be the space where God
-
plays his wild card and reveals his unexpected grace. So
-
simply keep trusting in God. Amen. God richly bless you
