Let's just go to the Father in prayer.
-
Heavenly Father, we just thank you that this is an appointed time that you've set apart, Lord, to learn your word.
-
And so, Lord, we're we're open.
-
Our spiritual ears are open to what your spirit is saying tonight.
-
Our spiritual eyes are open to what you're showing us through your word.
-
And Father, I just thank you that the entrance of your word brings light, it brings supernatural revelation, knowledge, and it illuminates our insides, Lord, our heart.
-
Lord, that we're able to see where to go and what to do and what to change.
-
Lord, that we're humble and we're teachable.
-
And Lord, we're moldable to your will and to your way.
-
And so, Lord, I just thank you for using your word tonight to open our hearts.
-
We're open to what you have for us.
-
We're not a stick-neft-necked people, but Lord, we are moldable to your will.
-
Holy Spirit, have your way in this place.
-
Have your way in our hearts.
-
And Father, I just thank you that we're going up to the next level in you in Jesus' name.
-
Amen.
-
So, right away, my point number one is in order for you to light up your world and make a change in the world around you, you must be lit yourself.
-
We have some lit people in the house tonight.
-
Who's lit?
-
We are lit.
-
Amen.
-
We're lit by the power of the Holy Spirit, not by any drug that the world has to offer.
-
And so, you know, we're gathered here today for a purpose.
-
And uh, you know, brother goes back to all the way back to Brother Hagin plans, purposes, and pursuits, and I put that in our notes.
-
You know, we're here to pursue the heart of God together.
-
We're here to renew our minds with the word of God.
-
You do that when you read your Bible on your own, but you also do that in church, right?
-
You're you're trading, you're stinking, thinking.
-
Some of us are are we grabbed a hold of the past to uh to the traditions of men, and so we throw those away tonight.
-
We grab a hold of new things that God, so God doesn't change, but the His methods change, right?
-
And so it's the near, it's the year of new things, amen.
-
And so we're grabbing a hold.
-
Behold, all things have become new, right?
-
The old things have passed away, and so we're grabbing a hold of new things.
-
Welcome, Todd.
-
Come on in, sir.
-
I hadn't seen you in a while.
-
God bless you.
-
Didn't mean to call you out like that.
-
But it blesses me to see people walking through the door that don't normally walk through the door.
-
Amen.
-
And so number three is to consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.
-
And so let's read that together.
-
Hebrews chapter 10, verse 24, in the New King James Version, it says, and let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.
-
That word consider means to observe and to understand.
-
And so how can we observe one another?
-
How can we understand one another if we don't, if we forsake the assembling together, right?
-
That it says in the next verse.
-
But hold up just a second.
-
So let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.
-
And so uh, you know, in 2 Timothy, Paul told uh Timothy, encouraged Timothy to stir up the gift of God that was on the inside of him, right?
-
That that came to him by the laying on of hands.
-
We have a gift of God on the inside of us, each one of us, but we have to, we're the ones that stir it up, right?
-
So we get inspired by the Holy Spirit, but we get motivated by our own spirit, right?
-
And so if you find yourself, you know, downtrodden and depressed and and and looking inward and just what I mean is like selfish, and you're you're only looking at your own problems, your own circumstance.
-
I just encourage you, that's when we come here together and we stir ourselves up, and then we get to stir others up unto love.
-
That's agape love, that's God's kind of love, right?
-
And good works.
-
So we do good things together, right?
-
Then verse 25, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.
-
Some assembly required, in other words, right?
-
And so we're here tonight because we want to pursue the heart of God together.
-
Let's finish that verse, though.
-
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another.
-
And so much more as you see the day approaching.
-
So we're gathering more, right?
-
More and more.
-
Tonight is a more moment, isn't it?
-
Not all of us come to church on a Wednesday night, but we did tonight because there's more.
-
And I just encourage you by the power of the Holy Spirit that's on the inside of me, agreeing with the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you, that there's more.
-
There's more for each and every one of you.
-
There's more.
-
God has more for you.
-
And so let's tap into the more as we say see the day approaching.
-
We love to gather.
-
And I just I've noticed the ones who don't like gathering are the more carnal-minded ones, right?
-
And so hungry people gather.
-
And so we we got we got our flesh filled tonight with Chick-fil-A, and it was good.
-
I had a sandwich myself, so I'll do my best not to burp while I'm while I'm preaching.
-
But I did not down it with a Dr.
-
Pepper, so we should be good.
-
I just had water, so we're all right.
-
And uh yeah, water helps.
-
And so, but hungry people gather.
-
So we we fed our our our flesh, but now we get to feed our spirit, we get to stir our spirit up together.
-
And so, what is the purpose of our gathering?
-
Like I said, it's to come together to pursue God's presence.
-
And we're pursuing God's presence, we're pursuing his glory.
-
And so I just want to talk about the light of the glory of God tonight.
-
But as we're getting started, since we have a cameraman tonight, I'm gonna go out in the audience, let's see, via the Holy Spirit and pick some people.
-
Who can who can I pick?
-
Who can I pick?
-
Miss Deborah Cerna, can you stand up for me?
-
You gotta come a little bit further because the camera doesn't go that far.
-
This is Miss Deborah Cerna, and she started coming here in what year?
-
Like way a long time ago, like 15.
-
2004.
-
2004, so that's more than 20 years.
-
And uh, I'm telling you, God uses her every day.
-
And I just wanted to say thank you for being faithful.
-
Thank you for volunteering.
-
I know you've been through the fire and you've come out on the other side, and we're proud of you for standing.
-
Stand, therefore, against all the wiles of the devil, you have the full armory of God on.
-
You don't lack in any good thing.
-
And God has you at the right place at the right time, but you had to decide to come here.
-
You had to decide to get up, get back up.
-
You could have stayed down, you could have stayed defeated, you could have stayed in bed, but you didn't.
-
You're here and you're stirring yourself up to learn and to be a blessing and to volunteer and to help others.
-
And I just wanted to say thank you.
-
Thank you.
-
Appreciate you.
-
Love you.
-
Love you.
-
Love you.
-
Hallelujah.
-
Let's see.
-
Holy Spirit, who else can we pick on?
-
Miss Henrietta, can we pick on you?
-
Yes.
-
Come on up here.
-
She's been here since the very beginning, near the very beginning, right?
-
Oh gee.
-
Oh, gee.
-
Yeah, almost.
-
Like the first year.
-
Yeah.
-
This is Miss Henrietta.
-
And she's a blessing as well.
-
I just the reason why I wanted you to do this is she likes to sit kind of in the back.
-
Over here in the very back.
-
I moved up a little closer.
-
I know.
-
I'm just messing with them.
-
But she's a wonderful lady, and you need to get to know her.
-
If you don't know her, she's a wonderful person to get to know.
-
And we're proud of you.
-
And we're you're yeah, you're full of the joy of the Lord.
-
And we're so grateful for you.
-
Thank you.
-
Thank you.
-
But all of us, I could go around the whole room, but all of us are family.
-
And everybody goes through things.
-
Everybody has challenges.
-
Everybody has sometimes you go through a health battle.
-
Miss Ann is here tonight.
-
She's gone through a health battle, but God, she's here.
-
She looks great.
-
She looks strong.
-
She's glowing with a Holy Spirit.
-
Amen.
-
And so uh we got Micah over here who's extra loud all the time.
-
He's the shouter in the family.
-
He's our first responder.
-
Amen.
-
And he also cooks the best brisket.
-
I'm sorry, we got Justin here in the back too.
-
He can he put he can cook as well.
-
His is better.
-
Justin cooks some some pots of beans that are really good, though.
-
Cornbread and beans.
-
Anyways, um, but yeah, get to know them as well.
-
His wife Amber, Mike and Amber.
-
Love y'all.
-
Been here for a long, long time.
-
15-ish, 20, 20, 15, 20, there we go, 2015.
-
There you go.
-
I know 20.
-
That's what I meant.
-
Yeah.
-
Got it.
-
God put them together right here at Glorious Way Church.
-
But what if you would have stayed home?
-
You wouldn't be married, right?
-
What you know, like I just think of what God brought you out of and into.
-
And I'm so grateful for what God's done in your life.
-
And I'm I'm I'm grateful for you for showing up and volunteering and making a difference and making a difference in others and not being ashamed of your testimony.
-
He's got a colorful testimony.
-
You know, it's not real colorful.
-
I didn't mean it, you know, but God brought you out.
-
That's what I'm saying.
-
God brought you out.
-
And uh and your wife stood by you through all kinds of stuff, and she's here, and you're here, and you're here together, and you're better together.
-
Amen.
-
God has a plan for both of you, and you grabbed a hold of it.
-
You grabbed a hold of God's purpose.
-
You know, um, I'm gonna talk about that here in a second, but we were talking about that today uh in our staff prayer this morning.
-
We were praying over these meetings, and uh we were my dad was not able to come to our staff meeting today.
-
Uh that's a good report, by the way.
-
I'll go ahead and give it.
-
He brought my mom to the doctor, and she was able to start treatment on her bones.
-
She's been going through some issues and and with micro fractures in her back, and she's healed in Jesus' name.
-
So we're believing God uh for a full manifestation of that healing that all pain stops.
-
And uh, but but she was able to begin treatment today.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
Her appointment was next month, and it got supernaturally moved up to today.
-
Thank you, Jesus.
-
So, anyway, we were talking about my dad, though, and just you know, he preaches out of his mistakes a lot, and so um, and you like so like I'm glad he said that on Sunday.
-
So he he's had lots and lots of successes.
-
You know, he's a home builder for 25 years, so none of his homes have you know been crushed to the ground or something, you know, like they're all still standing, and and some of them are worth millions of dollars.
-
We get we like to go tour the West University ones every now and then, and every now and then I'll sneak an address to somebody who's over there and they'll drive by one or two or three of them and Swarthmore and University and Auden and Pittsburgh, and I forgot all the ones, but but uh you'll know his because they have a cross above the door and uh and a porticochet that he preaches, remember that story?
-
But just the the moment that he he found his purpose in the ministry, the the the uh uh the provision, the supernatural provision came immediately.
-
I, you know, and I love that when he when he when he tells the story about going and buying the house that he's in, um, when he tells that the story of the of the banker saying, Mr.
-
Griner, your credit is golden.
-
And he's golden, really.
-
Like he had just he was, you know, 18 months away from turning, you know, turning in a house, several hundred thousand dollar construction loan, faulting on that, you know.
-
And so how his is his credit golden, supernaturally, by the by the power of God delivered him out of and into his destiny, his purpose.
-
So all of us have a purpose.
-
I think about my own purpose, but my you know, Selena and I's purpose together, and how um, you know, my dad just my both my parents gave us opportunity to minister here.
-
We didn't just sit on our hands.
-
I, if it was up to me, I'd still be back doing what Lee does with all the technical stuff.
-
But instead, I'm preaching to you tonight because I stepped into something God had for me all along.
-
I was called.
-
We were both called, but we didn't sit on our hands.
-
We we, you know, there's been opportunities for us to grow, and we're growing in him.
-
Amen.
-
And so, like, that's what I'm talking about tonight: lighting up your world, grabbing a hold of the light that's on the inside of you.
-
That the glory of God, the light of God's glory is already on the inside of us, and we have to take a hold of it to change the world around us.
-
We can't just change our own, you know, it's not just for our four and no more.
-
It's not just, you know, it God is gonna bring you hurting people to minister to if you if you would just make yourself available to him and yield to his plan.
-
Every believer has a ministry.
-
Amen.
-
And I just, you know, sometimes it just uh, you know, slaps us in the face.
-
We I was I needed new batteries in the truck, and uh and thank God they uh they were covered under warranty, so I didn't have to pay anything.
-
But uh one guy started and another guy came out to finish the job.
-
I, you know, they were putting, you know, I didn't have to do it myself.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
And so they were replacing the batteries, and and one guy had had it all under control, but you know, hey, the owner sent this guy out, and he starts talking to me, and I start ministering to him and give him a church card and everything, but he was a Catholic, but he was hungry for the word of God.
-
And so that that happens all the time to us when we make ourselves available.
-
But sometimes God still has to slap me, you know, like I was thinking, man, this is gonna take half as long now.
-
So, you know, God sent the expert out and he's gonna get me on my way.
-
No, I'm standing in the sun ministering to this guy for 20 more minutes, and that's you know, that's what we're called to do.
-
We're called to love uh the the hurting people, right?
-
And so um I just, you know, at this point, I just want to uh talk about um our foundational scripture.
-
If you'll turn to John chapter 8, verse 12.
-
Um, you know, it's it's right after uh the the adulterous woman who was caught in the act of adultery, and all the Pharisees and Sadducees and wouldn't sees and couldn't sees, they are the one that caught her, and they're the one that brought her to Jesus.
-
And it wasn't about uh condemning her, it was about testing Jesus.
-
And so what did you know what did Jesus do?
-
He said, uh, he who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone, because they wanted to stone her, right?
-
And so they all ended up leaving, uh walking out one by one.
-
In verse 10, so John 8, 10, when Jesus had raised himself up, he said, Woman, where are those accusers of yours?
-
Has no one condemned you?
-
And I want you to notice in verse 11 it says, She said, No one, Lord.
-
She already called him Lord.
-
She already made that adjustment and recognized his authority and called him Lord.
-
And so in the in the act of Jesus having mercy on her, she recognized who Jesus was and she said, Neither uh no me, Jesus said, sorry, neither do I condemn you.
-
Go and sin no more.
-
So, what is the real point of this story?
-
The real point of the story is the go and sin no more part, right?
-
My margin says, um, go and uh and from now on, sin no more.
-
From now on.
-
In other words, you were a sinner, but now I brought you into light.
-
That's what he's saying there.
-
He's saying, because of the mercy of God, because of the mercy of Jesus, and that and it's in that um revelation that he says verse 12.
-
So, in other words, verse 12 is a continuation of that.
-
And Jesus says, I am the light of the world.
-
He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
-
And that word life is zoe life.
-
That means the God kind of life.
-
So there's no having God's kind of life if we don't have his light, his illumination, his revelation that lights us up and that keeps us lit.
-
And so light is of truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it, it's that which is exposed to the view of all, openly, publicly.
-
And it also means the power of understanding, especially with moral and spiritual truth.
-
And so the revelation of moral and spiritual truth is what the world is missing.
-
Have you noticed that it seems like it's getting darker and darker?
-
But I'm telling you, we are getting lighter and lighter.
-
We are lit up and we are making the difference.
-
And um, you know, it says in 2 Corinthians 4 in verse 3, it says, But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, for whose minds the God of this age, that's a little G is talking about the devil, has blinded uh who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
-
I'm telling you, each and every one of us have uh we we are the light of the gospel.
-
We have the light of the gospel on the inside of us.
-
You know, then the the gospel is not boring to somebody who understands it.
-
And I'm telling you, we are Bible-believing Christians, and we have the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside, and we understand what we have, we understand whose we are, and it's time to share that with the ones around us and light this world up.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
And so um it's the light of the glory of Christ.
-
And I'm telling you, um that that's a revelation in Paul, you know, um that that uh Christ in us, the hope of glory, that the Gentiles, that was Paul's revelation that that was not just for the Jews, but it was also for the Gentiles.
-
I'm talking about in Colossians 1.27, is where that verse is.
-
Um, where in Christ in us the hope of glory, we have God's glory on the inside of us, and we know who Jesus is, and we know who we are, and we know that we are in Christ.
-
Amen.
-
So that leads me to point number two.
-
Where Jesus is taking all of us, there is no darkness because he is the light and he lives in us.
-
So just think about that, the power of that statement.
-
He's brought us out of darkness into the marvelous light, he's translated us.
-
And so, to be translated, you have a complete sea change.
-
It's a mind change, it's a spirit change, and the and the past is dead and gone, and you are washed clean.
-
And so some people get stuck in the shame of their past and the shame of what they did and the shame of a mistake, um, and they can't seem to move past it.
-
But the power of the blood of Jesus, he sees us perfected, and we're gonna talk more about that here in a second, but he sees us perfected in him.
-
Amen.
-
And so that just reminds, you know, let's just talk more about the glory of God and how we are carriers of the glory of God.
-
You know, years ago, uh the Holy Spirit showed uh uh our pastor that there's a wasting of power.
-
He talks about that all the time, right?
-
You've heard him say that.
-
There's a wasting of power in the church at large, not in GWC, but in like the church at large, there's a wasting of power.
-
And so let's just turn over real quick because we're right in the book of John already.
-
Turn over to chapter 17, and uh you have Jesus praying, and he's praying over his disciples.
-
It's starting in verse 6.
-
We won't read all this.
-
I'm gonna skip down, but just if you want to go back and study this later, he starts the prayer around verse 6, and then in let's talk about like 17, he's still praying over his disciples.
-
It says, Sanctify them by your truth, your word, and Is truth.
-
So we have the truth of God's word, right?
-
And then in verse 20, he starts praying for all believers.
-
And it says, I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, through the word of their of the disciples, right?
-
That they all may be one as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.
-
In verse 22, and the glory which you gave me, I have given them, that they may be one, just as we are one.
-
And so, uh real quick before we go on, uh let's keep reading.
-
Verse 23.
-
I in them and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one, that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me.
-
So, number three, the light of God's glory unifies us with each other, but also with our heavenly Father, and it perfects us.
-
Amen.
-
That the glory which you gave me, I gave them, that they may be one, and and then it says uh that they may be made perfect in one.
-
We have been made perfect in one.
-
In other words, one, you know, with each other and with Jesus because of the glory that was given to Jesus.
-
Amen?
-
Amen.
-
And so um I just want to skip down, let's see, verse 24.
-
Father, I desire that they also whom you gave me may be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory which you have given me.
-
So we're gonna be beholden to God's glory, to the glory that that that God gave Jesus, right?
-
For you loved me before the foundation of the world.
-
Oh, righteous Father, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have known that you sent me, and I have declared to them your name, and I will declare it that the love which uh with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.
-
And so we're we're made one, right?
-
Through God the Father and Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit, three in one.
-
They're all one, and we're one with them.
-
Amen.
-
And so um I just want to read you real quick out of the kingdom dynamics in my Bible.
-
It says that Jesus explains how he glorified God, he finished the work the Father gave him to do.
-
To glorify God, then, is to complete an assignment to do those things he has called, chosen, appointed, and anointed us to do.
-
I'm gonna read that again.
-
Um to glorify God means to do the things that he's called, chosen, appointed, and anointed us to do.
-
Amen.
-
Don't you want to bring God glory?
-
I want to bring God glory.
-
I want to bring him maximum glory.
-
I want my whole life to give God glory.
-
I don't want to disappoint him.
-
I don't want to have a uh uh, you know, uh, I don't want to miss an exit.
-
I don't want to miss a step.
-
I don't want to miss witnessing to somebody who needs, you know, when when if if the Holy Spirit brings someone across my path, um, I want to make sure that I'm gonna witness to them, that I'm full, that I'm not empty.
-
Man, have you ever witnessed to somebody when you're feeling empty and you got to stir it up a little bit?
-
And thank God something always comes out.
-
I don't know, I'm I don't know about you, but I've never fallen flat on my face.
-
But there's just there's moments that I was like, man, I just you you put the word in so when you need it, it comes out, right?
-
Pastor Osteen would say that all the time.
-
You got to put the word in you.
-
So when you need it, it's gonna come out.
-
Amen.
-
And so um, so we have to allow God's light to shine in.
-
So uh in today's um Brother Hagin's uh uh not the faith foods, but the health foods devotional.
-
Anybody have that devotional, the health foods one?
-
We sell that out at the media center.
-
It's that's uh it's really good.
-
It talks about health and healing.
-
And uh and he had this prophecy in today's that I wanted to share with you.
-
And uh so it's Brother Hagin.
-
It says the following is another word of instruction and exhortation that I received from the Lord.
-
Again, this is Brother Hagin.
-
Don't say that I'm plagiarizing this.
-
It's his prophecy.
-
Healing and health, life and peace, joy and rest all belong to the saints of God.
-
Defeat and failure, shortcomings, sickness, disease, and all that's worse belong to Adam's race because of the fall.
-
But remember that he, Jesus, came to redeem us all.
-
So rejoice and be glad, and let your mouth do its duty.
-
Speak forth that which the word has said, and be ready to believe all that you have read, yea, speak out that which the word declares is yours, and your faith will create the reality of the same in your heart and life and body too.
-
So you'll have cause to rejoice and be glad while others are so sad.
-
Yea, you will be filled with joy and gladness and rejoicing and health and healing, while others are filled with remorse and sadness and dominated by failure, because you see the light did shine, and they turned the light off.
-
But you opened up your heart and you said, Light shine, shine in light, shine upon my spirit, and I'll rise and walk in the light of life, for the Lord has redeemed me, and I will walk above all strife.
-
Amen.
-
So we do, we walk above all strife because we let or we allowed the light of God's word.
-
We were we allowed the revelation to shine in, and so we're walking in healing, we're walking in joy and gladness, and we're rejoicing in health and healing.
-
We are walking in everything that God, the the that our covenant has provided for us, amen.
-
And so we don't lack in any good thing, amen.
-
And so uh God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
-
And um I'm telling you, we're blessed.
-
Are you blessed?
-
I'm blessed, we're blessed, and together we're blessed.
-
And so that kind of leads me to just talking about the glory of God, the light of God's glory.
-
And if you'll turn with me to Exodus um chapter 33, did everybody pick up a copy of the notes that were outside?
-
For our leaders, I kind of uh I kind of mostly have my notes, and uh, and then I edited those down for the for the rest of everybody.
-
But this is a great chapter.
-
There's so many good things to grab that are happening, and I don't have a whole lot of time left, so I'm gonna kind of try to condense it.
-
And um, but basically, um God is trying to lead the children of Israel into the land of flowing with milk and honey, right to the promised land, and um and there's some unbelief happening and so on and so forth.
-
We go down to verse 7 and says, Moses took his tent and he pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting.
-
So right away we realized who named the tabernacle of meeting?
-
Did God name it?
-
No, we Moses named it, right?
-
But he named it properly.
-
We'll see that here in a second, but he had a purpose in mind.
-
I want you to see that, that this was Moses' purpose, and it says, and it came to pass that everyone who sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting, which was outside the camp.
-
So there's the third time that the writer of Exodus, and who's the writer?
-
Moses, right?
-
So Moses really wanted us to know in one verse that this tent that he built and he named was way the heck out there, right?
-
And hey, it was trouble.
-
That's what he's saying.
-
And so he made room for the Lord.
-
And what happened?
-
He already told us uh uh everyone.
-
So basically, when we said earlier, hungry, hungry people gather, it says, everyone who sought the Lord went out to this tabernacle of meeting.
-
In other words, it wasn't trouble for them.
-
They were hungry.
-
They were gonna do whatever it took to experience the glory of God, to experience the presence of God.
-
Amen.
-
So it was whenever Moses, verse 8, went out to the tabernacle that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
-
And it came to pass, um, and it came to pass when Moses entered the tabernacle that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
-
And so, right now I just wanted to just point out the purpose that uh Moses had a tabernacle of meeting with God, and so that was the purpose of him uh building this tent was for the presence of God, for the glory of God, and seeking the glory of God.
-
And then it brought all the people, it was like a spectacle, right?
-
When he walked out, he starts walking to this to this tent of meeting, tabernacle of meeting, all of the men and everybody in their own tents would come to the door to watch.
-
And though those people were hungry too, right?
-
And they got a viewing of the glory.
-
And so I'm telling you, every time, um, you know, that this this does signify it wasn't church, but it was it was a tabernacle of meeting, but it's like a church, and it signifies something.
-
It, you know, every time our pastor goes away and he spends time with the Lord, it's obvious to others that he has, he's carrying the glory of God on him.
-
He always comes back loaded with something, you know, all those Galveston trips that he preaches out of all the time, and how he's able to go back to his notes to like 2018, and God showed him this and that, and the, you know, the the the kayak or the you know, against the waves, and how God showed him that your faith never sleeps, that it's like that that paddler that never stops paddling.
-
And uh, I'm telling you that uh I'm gonna stop using I'm telling you because I use that way too much.
-
And and right, Selena's down there, she's she's writing it out for me, right?
-
And uh, but uh, you know that the the glory is all over him, right?
-
When you can tell when he's been spending time in the presence of God, and it's similar back here in the Old Testament.
-
And hey, spoiler alert, we are the tabernacle of meeting, right here.
-
We have our own tent that that that God's pitched on the inside of us.
-
We are carriers of his glory.
-
We read it earlier, right?
-
And so I just want you to know that that that's where this story is going.
-
That everything that I'm pointing to, you know, is we're we have a better covenant now, founded upon better promises.
-
And here God is talking with Moses, he can talk to you too.
-
You know, prayer is not a one-way conversation, a conversation is a two-way conversation, right?
-
And so when you pray, when you just take time to listen, God always talks back.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
And so there's a purpose to draw near with a true heart.
-
And so, where did I leave off?
-
Verse 10, I think.
-
All the people saw the pillar of clouds standing at the tabernacle and tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshipped each man in his tent door.
-
So this glory caused every household and every man.
-
I'm talking to like the men of the house real quick.
-
You know, uh, you need to be the first responder to the glory of God.
-
Amen.
-
Amen.
-
And so your kids need to know what it's like to witness you worshiping the Lord and getting crazy and dancing like David danced, amen, rejoicing like David rejoiced and giving like David gave.
-
You need to be an example of that in your home and not just stand there with your hand with your arms crossed during worship.
-
And you need to be a per a first responder and a participator, with your hands raised up in a surrendering position.
-
And it's important.
-
That's why we have uh family fifths around here where we don't have children's church every single service.
-
I remember as a as a kid, I'm getting way off my notes, but God spoke to me at Lakewood Church when John Osteen was preaching.
-
When I was six years old, when I was seven years old, when I was eight years old, I would sit.
-
Now I didn't go to children's church every single service, they didn't have children's church every service, and I would sit with my parents in church, and God spoke to me.
-
He revealed things to me, and it was a precious time.
-
And then uh we moved to Corpus, and the same thing happened.
-
Um, they didn't always have children's church, and Wednesday nights they didn't have children's church.
-
I remember that every Wednesday sitting in church, but I could tell my pastor's stories, right?
-
But uh like every pastor I ever had was a great storyteller.
-
And so, uh, but I, you know, anyways, just getting back to my notes here.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
But um, but but being a worshiper, why do we sing?
-
What is the purpose of singing?
-
It's to pursue the heart of God in unity.
-
Have you noticed something when we're worshiping together?
-
We're singing the same thing, and we're all in time.
-
The timing is very important, it matches the heartbeat of God.
-
And Ethan is a great drummer.
-
I'm just I'm grateful for his ability to keep the time, you know?
-
And so we're all in one accord and we're worshiping together, and that ushers in such the presence of God, the power of God, and uh and it makes all the difference.
-
And so that's what was happening back then.
-
That the people began to worship, and they worshiped in one accord because they saw the glory of God, right?
-
The pillar of clouds standing at the tabernacle door.
-
Amen.
-
And so uh, you know, and when we come to church and we have this purpose of gathering, I just believe that the clearer we are in our purpose, and the clearer we all that are that we all understand why we're here, then the more we're gonna do for the kingdom of God, and the more dots we're gonna connect, and the less confusion there is gonna be in the place, right?
-
And because we're all in one accord, we're we're all under the power of the glory.
-
Amen.
-
And you'll see in the book of Acts, right?
-
And in like Acts 3, 4, and 5, as the first uh church is coming together, that their lives were transformed.
-
It transformed every life of the believer, and they were baptizing people, and they were baptizing people in the Holy Ghost.
-
And I just, you know, um, some of us, I want to just be honest with you, some of us are not filled with the Holy Spirit.
-
And I'm telling you, if that's you, I just encourage you to be hungry.
-
Don't don't get lost in this in the fear of the whole speaking in tongues thing and looking like a freak and sounding like a weirdo.
-
Like, like let that go.
-
Speaking in tongues is the evidence that you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
-
Is it optional?
-
Not really.
-
Can you go to heaven without it?
-
Sure, absolutely.
-
But you're gonna miss so many opportunities to lean back and follow the Holy Spirit.
-
That his ability to speak to you, to guide you, to uh lead, guide, and direct, the direction is a is a very important step, the whole direct, giving you direction where you're gonna go, where to make the next turn.
-
And and he doesn't lay out your the whole plan for your life all at once, and you know when you're 80 years old that you're gonna be doing this, this, this, and this.
-
No, he he leads you in stages.
-
And it's so much easier when you have the power of the Holy Spirit, and and that equals praying in other tongues.
-
You're praying the mysteries of God out for your life.
-
You're praying the mysteries of God out for your kids' life.
-
It doesn't just affect you, it affects everybody around you.
-
And I just encourage you to be hungry for the power of the Holy Spirit and take advantage of being filled with the Holy Spirit.
-
Amen?
-
Amen.
-
All right.
-
Back in my notes.
-
So verse 10, every man worshiped.
-
Nobody was just standing there, like I was saying earlier, with their with their arms crossed.
-
Every man, it says that that they all all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door.
-
Verse 11.
-
So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face as a man speaks to his friend.
-
Again, man, we have a better covenant founded upon better promises now.
-
Can you imagine what it was like being Moses and having God speak to you as a friend?
-
Man, he but he speaks to me, right?
-
He speaks to you.
-
Does he speak to you?
-
Amen.
-
And he and he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, the young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
-
So I'm running out of time, but I just um I want to say that that the future leader of Israel is Joshua, right here, and he loved the presence of God so much.
-
He had no idea he was going to be the leader at this point, but he would not leave the tabernacle.
-
He would not leave the tent.
-
Why?
-
Because he was a lover of the presence of God.
-
Amen.
-
Who's a lover of the presence of God?
-
Amen.
-
Well, you know, and so it marked him.
-
I believe it marked him.
-
And that was what led to God being able to lean on him was his ability to recognize what God was doing because he spent time in his presence.
-
Amen.
-
Verse 12.
-
Then Moses said to the Lord, See, you say to me, Bring up this people, but you have not let me know whom.
-
You know, Moses is praying to the Lord right now.
-
And uh, you have said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in my sight.
-
Now therefore I pray, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now your way.
-
That word way is the Hebrew word Derek.
-
It means the course of life.
-
We have Derek and Carol here.
-
Derek is Carol's course of life.
-
Amen.
-
In your sight.
-
Show me now your way that I may know you, and that I may find grace in your sight.
-
And consider that this nation is your people.
-
And God said, You've got to pay attention to the pronouns.
-
This is a capital H in verse 14.
-
And God said, What are you talking about?
-
Are you an idiot?
-
What you know, he did he rebuke him?
-
No, he didn't rebuke him.
-
Could he have rebuked him?
-
Absolutely.
-
God could have rebuked him, but he didn't.
-
Instead, God says, Hey, my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
-
Hallelujah.
-
The presence of God gives us rest.
-
Amen.
-
I forgot the last point though.
-
Verse and I'm running out of time here.
-
So number four was your light is obvious to those around you.
-
And number five, the light of his glory brings you rest.
-
And what is rest?
-
His presence soothes, comforts, settles, consoles, and quiets us.
-
And so live in a place of rest, of confidence, of closeness, of hearing his voice, of being conform to his purpose.
-
And that that rest conforms us to his purpose.
-
It quiets our soul.
-
Everybody, you know, like everybody goes through those times where you can't quiet, you know, you can you're having a hard time just calming down and getting quiet before the Lord, but that's what his presence, when his presence ushers in, you find that rest, you find that quietness, you find that settling, and you find that consoling.
-
Amen.
-
Um so we can't settle.
-
Um the world must see his church being a selfless church.
-
We must see Christ in us.
-
Christ is the church, and we are the church.
-
We have Christ in us, the hope of glory.
-
Amen.
-
And so um, let me skip to um all the way down.
-
So the Lord said to Moses, I will also, verse 17, I will also do this thing that you have spoken, for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name.
-
And then Moses asked, Please show me your glory.
-
Show me your glory.
-
And so, what does God do?
-
He says, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you, and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
-
And and so God made a way in the next chapter for for Moses to go up uh onto Mount Sinai, right, where he received the Ten Commandments, and and he uh put uh Moses in the cleft of the rock and he turned his back towards him and he walked by him.
-
And Moses saw the glory of God, amen.
-
And that glory marked him and changed him, and he came back down off of the mountain, and everybody was just amazed, right, at the glory of God.
-
And so the glory did go before them, right?
-
And good things happened, and they eventually made it to the promised land under Joshua.
-
Praise the Lord.
-
But um, I'm telling you, hungry people gather, we're we're gathered here tonight.
-
We're gathered here to experience his glory, and and I'm just reminding you to stir yourselves up, that you carry everything that you need for yourself.
-
Um, you're the God's God's purpose for you is always stronger than the pressure.
-
You know, some of us we feel the pressure of whatever circumstance you're going through, but his promises are greater, and his purpose that he has for you is greater than whatever circumstance you're focused on.
-
I just encourage you, you know, yeah, that God's gonna take care of that, but as you're taking care of God's business, God's taking care of your business.
-
And that's just the way it works.
-
And so stop focused so much on whatever it is that you're going, but Jay, you don't understand.
-
I'm I'm three months behind in my rent and I'm and I'm just about to be, you know, evicted.
-
I'm telling you, if you'll get focused on taking care of God's business, he'll take care of you.
-
And and the Matthew 633 principle works.
-
Um, and and so that look at the birds.
-
And got if God can take care of the birds, he can take care of you.
-
When you seek first the kingdom, all of those other things are added unto you, and you don't lack for any good thing.
-
Amen.
