John 20 and verse 31.
-
Let's start with verse 30.
-
What do you say?
-
St.
-
John, chapter 20, and verse 30.
John 20 chapter mention
-
There are seven signs that John recorded about Jesus when he was on the earth.
-
I want to take a brief look at those tonight.
-
Because those signs that Jesus gave, in fact, there's been so much that Christ did in three and a half years.
-
John said there's not enough books in the world to write it all down.
-
So he was moving 24 or 7.
-
You know, and ever since he was baptized by John and filled with the Holy Ghost, he put the devil to flight.
-
Amen.
-
You know, as I'm thinking about this, I used to listen to Brother Shannbach quite a bit.
-
You ever listen to him, anybody?
-
He's gone to meet the Lord now.
-
He could scream, couldn't he?
-
I picked up this one phrase I quote sometimes.
-
You don't have any troubles.
-
All you need is faith in God.
-
That's right.
-
When the Lord comes on the scene, everything's okay.
-
And something the church need to understand tonight as I'm speaking to you.
-
We're new creatures in Christ Jesus.
-
You know that.
-
Your spirit's new.
-
Not your soul or your body.
-
So your spirit, your human spirit, is new.
-
And you won't be any more new when you get to heaven than you are right now.
-
You won't be any more righteous when you get to heaven than you are right now.
-
Hallelujah.
-
So the war is in the soulish man and the flesh hinders, of course.
-
Yeah, that's what the flesh does.
-
The flesh wars against the spirit.
-
But there are signs in the Bible that helps us understand who Jesus is and who we are in Christ.
-
So when a person understands that their spirit in man is one with God, then you'll understand what it means to be in the spirit.
-
As long as we're struggling to get in the spirit, that's soulish and fleshly.
-
The fact is, if your spirit's born again, which it is tonight, then you're in the spirit.
-
Your understanding is unfruitful at this time if you're struggling with this subject.
-
And so the Lord has given us a few things to think about about our Savior than what he did on the earth when he was here.
-
So as you know, I teach that our spirit is already resurrected to walk in numbness of life.
-
The very moment you're born from above.
-
You won't be any more born than you are right now.
-
You won't be any more saved than you are right now.
-
But there'll come a time, church, we'll know as we're known.
-
Right now it's kind of a glass dark thing.
-
We prophesy in part, we understand the scripture in part, but there's coming a time we'll have full understanding.
-
I'll have no questions when I stand before the Savior.
-
Not one question.
-
We'll already know the answers.
-
So have you found verse 30 in?
-
And many of the signs treated to Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
-
But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life on his name.
-
Will, you're in a good mood tonight.
-
Would you stand in prayer over the word for me?
-
Thank you.
-
Amen.
-
Signs point to a belief in Christ.
-
Amen.
-
When we understand the significance of certain signs that Christ allowed us to understand and to read about, it helps us understand the reality of eternal life because we're not serving some tiny Tim here, tiptoeing through the tulips.
-
Signs confirm the word.
-
You know that.
-
Of course, Jesus was the living word incarnate.
-
And therefore, the Holy Spirit was confirming certain signs that He manifest by faith.
-
Amen.
-
So there are seven signs then in John's Gospel, and they reveal some specific character about Jesus, his power and his person.
-
Let me say it again.
-
There are seven signs in John's Gospel, and they reveal some specific characteristics about Jesus, his power, and his person.
-
In other words, as we study St.
-
John's very important book, that's the first book new believers should read.
-
The first one, because it reveals the Son of God.
-
Amen.
-
These signs not only help us understand that Jesus was God, but he was also man anointed by the Holy Spirit without measure.
-
And I asked the Lord one time, as you go into, well, we won't go to that just yet.
-
I asked the Lord one time what it meant for Christ to be anointed without measure above his fellows.
-
In other words, all the prophets in the Old Testament didn't have a full anointing like Jesus.
-
Not Moses, not any of them, not Elijah, none.
-
But all piled together, plus all the church and the earth come together as one, and the corporate anointing released, that's what Jesus walked in.
-
That's what the Lord told me.
-
You don't have to accept that, but do you have a better definition?
-
How do you measure the spirit?
-
You cannot.
-
You know, prayer has no distance.
-
And also God has no distance.
-
If I go to the moon, he's there.
-
Well, the first miracle in John was found in chapter 2.
-
Let me see if I'm going to take time to read this.
-
I don't know.
-
I don't know.
-
Let me see.
-
I guess I need to read some of it too.
-
To kill a dead cow, kill a sacred cow.
-
Can I do that?
-
Just one cow tonight.
-
All right.
-
Verse 1.
-
And the third day.
-
Now, let me stop there.
-
Two days after Christ came out of the wilderness, defeating Satan.
-
It was two days until this.
-
The third day.
-
He goes to a wedding.
-
Imagine that.
-
A marriage in Cana, and the mother of Jesus was there.
-
Both Jesus was calling his disciples to the marriage, and when he when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine.
-
Now, verse 4, I'm going to stop for the sake of time, and you can read this on your own.
-
I want to give you a nugget now.
-
You may not like it, but it's true.
-
Jesus said to her, Mother, what do you want me to do?
-
My hour's not yet come.
-
Now I'm going to lay something on you.
-
Not one time did Jesus ever say Mary was his mother.
-
Woman.
-
I want that to soak in.
-
What's the significance?
-
I'm yet to grasp it all.
-
Cow number one down the tubes.
-
You know the story.
-
Twelve pots of water, and some calculate 120 gallons of water.
-
120 gallons.
-
That's what I call a big wedding, everybody.
-
And so, woman, what am I to do with you?
-
Talking to whom we call his mother.
-
And she said, Well, whatever he says to do, just do it.
-
So now she's relinquishing some parental authority.
-
Getting back out of the road.
-
And he said, Well, go fill the pots of water and then pour it out.
-
And the disciples, what?
-
If that had been us, what do you mean?
-
Anyway, to make the long story short, they said, Well, we've saved the best wine till last.
-
Now, listen to me, you cannot prove it was fermented or unfermented.
-
I don't know.
-
I would assume it was uh, no, I'm not going to assume anything.
-
The Bible calls it water wine.
-
But the way we Americans think, you know, the wine with the most kick to it is the best.
-
Some of your ex-alcoholics, you know what I'm talking about, don't you?
-
Not me.
-
I've never even smelt wine.
-
You're a holy thing.
-
You are really holy.
-
You know that.
-
Well, however it was, they were having a good time at the wedding.
-
That's the first miracle that Jesus did, turned the water into wine.
-
And you told a story about that guy getting stopped by D W D U I.
-
And he had a bottle sitting there in the seat, and the cop goes, What's that?
-
And the man goes, It's water.
-
Cop says, Let me see it.
-
The cop goes, that's wine.
-
And the guy goes, Hey, dat it again.
-
That's a money joke, okay?
-
I don't know.
-
I don't have a problem with whether it's fermented or unfermented.
-
It doesn't matter to me.
-
The fact is, Jesus turned it into wine.
-
Can I go on then?
-
I don't care.
-
Praise well now, bless the Lord.
-
God wouldn't create anything spoiled.
-
You're a religious person, you.
-
You can't prove it was fermented or unfermented.
-
Can I go on and I don't want to kill a cow here?
-
Because I really don't care.
-
Whether it's fermented or unfermented.
-
It doesn't matter to me.
-
Besides that, Dickens, I'm not giving too much wine.
-
Uh-oh.
-
A little wine for your stomach's sake.
-
Oh, we got stomach trouble.
-
Oh, yeah.
-
Bible says little wine.
-
That's for medicine purposes only.
-
No drunkard will inherit the kingdom of God.
-
Can I go on, please?
-
To miracle number two.
-
A dry sense of humor, bless the Lord.
-
In chapter four.
-
Jesus heals a nobleman's son.
-
Let me get over there.
-
I don't know if I got time to read this or not.
-
So, to back up now to the wine thing.
-
What does this prove about Jesus?
-
Well, he was the master of quality.
-
Say quality.
-
I mean the best of the best.
-
He always wore the best clothes and everything.
-
Oh, poor Jesus.
-
Didn't have any place to lay his head.
-
Well, he had a big house.
-
I would love to have seen that house that the creator in the flesh made.
-
Oh my.
-
But this second miracle now, the healing of the nobleman's son, reveals Jesus is the master of distance and space.
-
When you read that chapter, you will find that the person that was healed was two miles away from Jesus.
-
No laying hands, no nothing.
-
So when it comes to space and distance, Christ is the master over it.
-
Praise God.
-
And the third one was uh he heals the impotent man in chapter five.
-
And you know that account.
-
We we taught on it here a while back.
-
So that's the third miracle that Jesus had recorded by John.
-
Then of course I think we'll read this one in chapter six.
-
We got time to read this one tonight.
-
Verses uh well, let's start with uh let's start with verse 16 for the sake of time.
-
No, let me back up here.
-
Let me look at verse 11.
-
We got the time, right?
-
Then we'll back up to verse 1.
-
If we got that much time.
-
Can we do that?
-
Let's start in verse 1 for the sake of time.
-
This is the fourth miracle where Jesus feeds 5,000.
-
I'll get it right.
-
5,000.
-
5,000, not counting women and children.
-
And in those days they had a lot of kids.
-
So we speculate, probably there's at least 20,000 people there or more that eat, eat, eat.
-
After these things, Jesus went over to the Sea of Galilee, which is in the Sea of Tiberias, and a great multitude followed him because they saw his miracles, which he did unto them, and were diseased, of course.
-
And Jesus went up to the mountain, and there he sat the disciples.
-
The Passover at the feast of the Jews was nigh.
-
When Jesus lifted up his eyes, he saw a great company come unto him, and he said to Philip, When shall we buy bread that these may eat?
-
And this he said to prove him, for he himself knew what he would do.
-
And Philip answered, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, and every one of them may take a little.
-
Now there was much grass in the place.
-
So the men sat down and numbered about five thousand.
-
Again, not counting women and children.
-
Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, notice he gave thanks, he didn't ask the blessing.
-
He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them, and were set down, and likewise the fish as much as they would.
-
And they were filled, and he said to them, Gather up fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
-
Therefore they gathered themselves together and filled twelve baskets of the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above, unto them that had eaten.
-
Then those men, when they had seen the miracles that Jesus did, this of a truth is a prophet that would come into the world.
-
Amen.
-
And so here we see Jesus is a master of quantity.
-
Now, two times in this church I've seen money multiplied.
-
Amen.
-
And then here's one, the fifth miracle that Jesus did was walking on the water.
-
Now, there's a joke about the minister's walking on the water, and someone said, Should we tell him where the rocks are?
-
But you know, it's not very funny, really.
-
But the fact is, it's not possible to walk on the water unless you have divine intervention.
-
I can't even vote for a lot.
-
We'll be right back to today's message.
-
But first, we want to take a moment to think of time words with international podcasts.
-
A fine word for heart is the vote.com.com.
-
Now, let's get back to the eight powerful method for Dr.
-
Wayne.
-
Well, we've got time to look at that.
-
Chapter 6, verse 16, same chapter.
-
And this miracle depicts that Jesus is the master over natural laws.
-
You know, Christ is way beyond our human comprehension about who he really is.
-
Even today, he's the same.
-
Now, Randy Travis sang a song, I thought he could walk on water, but that was the only part that was biblical in that song.
-
There has been another that walked on the water.
-
And that was Peter.
-
Not once, but twice.
-
While Doubt and Thomas and the rest of them stayed in the boat that was going to sink.
-
Uh-huh.
-
16, and when the evil was now come, his disciples went down to the sea and entered into a ship and went over the sea toward Capernaum.
-
And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
-
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
-
Now I don't know who sent the storm.
-
Sometimes I think Satan did.
-
Well, one time he did for sure because Jesus rose up and rebuked the wind, and it ceased immediately.
-
They said, What manner of man is this that even the winds obey him?
-
That one is from Satan.
-
But this one, I'm not sure it could have been just a test for the disciples.
-
We'll let it go at that.
-
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind, and when they had rode about the five and twenty, thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, drawn nigh to the ship, and they were afraid.
-
You see, they thought, oh, it's a ghost.
-
Listen, there's no such thing as a ghost.
-
There are demons impersonating someone that's gone on.
-
It's ridiculous, no?
-
They go up to heaven or down to hell, that's it, the moment they leave the body.
-
He said, Be not afraid.
-
And then they they willingly received him into the ship, and immediately the ship was at the land whether they went.
-
Now I don't know how fast that ship sailed across the ocean there or the sea there, but in a nanosecond they were on the other side.
-
Which lets us know he's the master over laws, natural laws.
-
Well, one time Philip flew.
-
The prophets caught by the hair of the head, picked up what a ride.
-
So God could do what he wants.
-
How many of us would be afraid if the Lord flew us around for a while?
-
I don't think I would.
-
I'd kind of enjoy the ride, really.
-
Well, I remember a pastor that's gone to be with the Lord.
-
He was having severe troubles in his church.
-
And he was sitting at his desk one afternoon, and God transported him over to a person's house.
-
And took him down to the ceiling and showed him everything that was going on in that house.
-
Can God do that?
-
Next thing was back at his desk.
-
That's a ride.
-
That's what I would call discern of spirits big time.
-
Well the sixth the sixth miracle is uh the man born blind in chapter 9, if you're taking a note.
-
He healed the man that was born blind.
-
And this describes Jesus' authority over misfortune.
-
You know, sometimes we feel like we've got a bad deal.
-
That we've got the raw end of the stick, short end of the stick, or whatever you want to say it.
-
A victim of circumstance.
-
But the truth is Jesus is the master over any misfortune that we face.
-
We must accept this.
-
There are signs that let us know that Christ is the same.
-
Then, of course, you know this one, and the last message miracle here was when Lazarus was resurrected in chapter 11, which lets us understand that Jesus is the master over death.
-
Jesus is the master over death.
-
Anybody's death.
-
Anybody's death.
-
He's the master.
-
In fact, we teach until the Lord shows me different that nobody dies until Christ says.
-
He has all power and all authority.
-
So when it comes our time to go, hopefully it'll be in the trumpet sounds.
-
But if not, we want to make sure we we finish the race before we leave.
-
There's a lot of dreams out there in the graveyard, folks.
-
Well.
-
And thinking about chapter six, then.
-
And the other miracles that Jesus did when he fed the five thousand.
-
Ministry first, food second.
-
Africans have got it backwards.
-
Mm-hmm.
-
Ministry first, then food.
-
That's the way Christ operated.
-
And when Jesus, back to the the loaves and the fishes miracle, when Jesus told Philip to uh give out the food, that was kind of a test on Philip's part, don't you think?
-
I mean, we'd say, well, you know, there's there's not enough food to go around, wouldn't we wouldn't we think that?
-
But Christ displays his power over quantity.
-
Amen.
-
Praise God.
-
Well, Judas made a statement, and there's always one in every crowd.
-
It just amazes me.
-
In John 13, 29, this is not necessarily a sign that was given, but it's a warning to us.
-
Some of them thought that because Judas had the bag, you see, Judas carried the money.
-
And people were given to the ministry of Christ all the time.
-
There was some evidence there was some widows that were supporting the work.
-
However, it is they had a lot of money.
-
They had a lot of money.
-
And it was several, I forget now, but it was several months, even years of labor that equated to what they carried in the money bag.
-
I'd have to get my note and look it up.
-
But it was a lot of money.
-
Enough money to feed 5,000, maybe 20,000 people, and they were hungry.
-
How much money is that?
-
Well, it would take a person several months to earn that much money, and they were carrying it around.
-
Judas was always worried about the money.
-
When the woman was washing the Lord's feet and anointing his feet, and she wiped his feet with her hair.
-
And uh I could say something there to move him right along.
-
Judas said, Well, shouldn't this have been sold for so much money and given to the poor?
-
He wasn't concerned about that because you see, Judas was stealing from the money bag all along.
-
Fact is, the love of money was one reason why Judas fell and went to hell.
-
Filthy looker can really get a person.
-
Well, what did it say then?
-
And some of them thought because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said to him, but those saints which we have need of against the feast are that he should give something to the poor.
-
I kind of paraphrased that a while ago.
-
But Judas is more concerned about controlling the money.
-
Controlling the money, uh-oh.
-
Could I pause there for a minute?
-
Well, a wheel.
-
If there's a husband or a wife that has to have absolute control of your finances and your family setting, look out.
-
In fact, some people won't even get married until they sign this contract.
-
Wait a minute.
-
Here's the deal.
-
What my wife has is mine, and what I have is mine.
-
All right.
-
Not really.
-
It's a dry sense of humor, I'm sorry.
-
It's it's a 50-50 deal.
-
If I lead before her, she has it all.
-
If she leads before me, I get it all.
-
What is it?
-
I don't care.
-
I don't own anything.
-
I told you before, Satan said he's gonna take everything from me that I own.
-
And I said, You can't do that, devil.
-
I don't own anything.
-
God owns it all.
-
I'm just a steward, just a pilgrim passing through.
-
He's letting me use certain things as he sees fit while I'm on the earth.
-
And the same way with you.
-
You're gonna leave it all.
-
Amen.
-
It's a sobering thought, isn't it?
-
Well, we'll come into the world naked and we're gonna leave that way.
-
All right.
-
This little boy, back to that 5,000, carried the food.
-
But in the hands of Christ, that which is little is a lot.
-
Don't forget that.
-
If we can so to the Spirit, I don't care what it is, if we get into the hands of the Lord, it'll never be any smaller than that.
-
Because God is a multiplier.
-
The trick is to get it into his hands.
-
And so, 2 Corinthians 9 10, then.
-
He ministered seed to the sower, both minister bread and to your food, multiply your seeds sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.
-
And so the Lord was the one that increased the little boy's breakfast, and he will increase what we have.
-
You know, it seems the flesh never has enough.
-
That's what it seems like.
-
But the fact is we already have enough to do what God wants us to do.
-
We just don't know how the Holy Spirit operates sometimes.
-
Amen.
-
Will as I close this account, there were 12 basketfuls left.
-
I hung up on that one miracle.
-
There were 12 basketfuls left of bread and fish.
-
Because you see, preachers like to eat, okay?
-
And there was one basketful for each disciple.
-
Don't muzzle the ox that treads out the corn.
-
All right, and so the Lord always rewards his people.
-
Amen.
-
The last scripture is John 21 here tonight.
-
Okay.
-
St.
-
John 21.
-
I'm on that chapter tonight.
-
And let's look at verse 4.
-
Now, here's one for those of you that someday you think you might go into full-time ministry, whatever that means.
-
Take a look at this.
-
Now you've got to understand that the disciples were fishermen, uh, tax collectors, this and that.
-
Jesus chose the most unlikely ones.
-
After the resurrection of Christ in verse 4, we'll close with this.
-
And when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore, but his disciples knew not it was Jesus.
-
Jesus said, Children, do you have any meat?
-
And they said, No.
-
In other words, do you have anything to eat now?
-
And he said, Cast the men on the right side of the ship, and you shall find.
-
They cast therefore, and now there was not able to draw in the multitude of fish.
-
Therefore the disciples whom Jesus loved said unto Peter, It is the Lord.
-
Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded his fish's coat about him, for he was naked and did cast himself into the sea.
-
Now he wasn't naked like we Americans think, he had the undergarment on.
-
And the other disciple came in a little ship, and they were not far from land, but as there were two hundred cubits dragging the net with fish.
-
As soon as then they were come to land, they saw a fire and a coal of fire, and fish thereon and bread.
-
Now, I don't know where Christ got the fish and the bread.
-
I don't know.
-
Did he bring it from heaven?
-
I don't know.
-
The fact is he provided something and he was going to make a revelation to his apostles.
-
In other words, you guys are out here working and trying to do things the way you used to do, but now because I've called you to be apostles, I'm going to take care of you.
-
I'll provide the fish, I'll provide the bread for you.
-
You just take care of my business, and I'll take care of you.
-
That was the deal.
-
And so it is today.
-
And as soon as they were come to the land, they saw the fire and the coast and the fish, the bread thereon.
-
Bring of the fish which you have now caught, he's telling the disciples.
-
Simon Peter went up and drew the net and land full of great fish.
-
150 and three.
-
Now some have speculated there's 153 nations.
-
I don't know.
-
And for all there were so many, yet not was not the net broken, if I could speak here tonight.
-
Now here comes the revelation.
-
Are you going to get a hold of this?
-
Come and dine.
-
In other words, come and done the master calls.
-
Come and dine.
-
You could have ice cream social anytime.
-
Come and dine.
-
Was that drying?
-
Come and dine.
-
And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who are you?
-
Knowing that it was the Lord.
-
Then he comes and takes bread and gives them and fish likewise.
-
This is now the third time Jesus showed himself to his disciples, and then he was risen from the dead.
-
So the point of this account is that when God calls you into full-time ministry, quote unquote, he will take care of you.
-
Forget about your past work ethics and your career.
-
No, Christ is your career now.
-
That's right.
-
And I think these people are the ones that really will delve into the miracles, signs, and wonders that Christ does with them because they have cut loose from the world.
-
Don't misunderstand me.
-
The fisherman, Peter, didn't sell his company.
-
It kept going.
-
But he was getting a cut.
-
So the Lord's not telling you to sell your business.
-
Just turn it over to somebody else, let them run it, and you're free to have to do the work of the Lord.
-
And you get royalties off of it.
-
Is that a good deal?
-
Yeah.
-
Sure it is.
-
And now you fish for men.
-
I don't know why I'm speaking this way this weekend, but somebody here or in the internet will hear this little sermon ed and understand the word's talking about you.
-
Talking about you.
-
You need to cut loose and trust God.
-
Praise God.
-
We might see way more than seven miracles that the Holy Spirit does in our midst in our lifetime.
-
I'm yet to see one resurrected from the dead.
-
Do you think it would empty out the house down here if someone came back out of that coffin, hopped out there, and hopped around and danced the praise the Lord, huh?
-
Can it happen?
-
It can happen.
-
Christ raised Lazarus.
-
Wigglesworth raised how many?
-
Six, seven people from the dead, hit one dead guy in the stomach and brought him back to life.
-
Now that's authority.
-
I don't have it yet, but I'd like to have it if God would trust me with it, but you've got to have some common sense.
-
One time Wigglesworth was in a church.
-
You ever hear Smith Wigglesworth, anybody?
-
He was in a church, and this little baby didn't have any arms or legs.
-
And they brought the baby up and he said, put the baby on the floor.
-
This guy was radical.
-
Put the baby on the floor.
-
He jumps down and kicks the baby, and when it comes down, it's got arms and legs.
-
Can God do it?
-
Absolutely.
-
Praise God.
-
Folks, we need to dare to trust God.
-
As close as I've been to raising the dead is calling a woman back into her body, it was brain dead.
-
That's close.
-
Maybe she was dead in one way.
-
Brain dead, I guess that's dead.
-
So I'm not looking for somebody's heart is not beaten and they're four days in the coffin, but you know what?
-
If God tells me to go down there and call that person back from paradise, I will go.
-
You can take it to the bank.
-
Would you go with me?
-
No, we're not crazy.
-
Let's stand up, that's enough.
-
Can't take any more of this humor stuff.
-
I believe you're the same.
-
If God told you to go down there and call that person back from the dead, you'd go, wouldn't you?
-
But we need to be sure we're hearing from the Spirit.
-
Lest we bring approach on Christ.
-
But what if it what if it really did work?
-
This whole town would get into a frenzy.
-
Would it not?
-
Lord, please do it.
-
Just once in this town.
-
Just do it just once.
-
Now I don't want to be the one in the coffin when you raise me back, but uh, what if you're in the coffin and we'll raise you back?
-
Is that a good deal?
-
Maybe you wouldn't want to come back.
-
So we've got to hear from the Lord, okay?
-
So these signs then help us understand Jesus is the all-sufficient one.
-
Can you accept that tonight?
-
Praise God.
-
Thank you for listening to the time with Mr.
-
After.
