  21. it over. It's like taking off the bandit.

  22. You know. Some people do do you wade into the

  24. to see it not even my peripher so anyway, So anyway,

  25. that's what we do.

  26. So we always we're in the habit now of saying, oh, yesterday,

  27. but we mean by yesterday is the last recording.

  28. Yeah, that's why we're in the same clothes, which is

  29. we don't wear all the same clothes for the whole week.

  30. No, which by the way, is very often is what

  31. happens on the voice. Yes, I always think of the

  32. voice the voice.

  33. Because I always try to figure out like, oh, this

  34. was this outfit. You know, this was recorded this day.

  35. You could figure it out just by based on what

  36. they wear.

  37. Yeah.

  38. So anyway, let's jump into the social media minute that

  39. Desiree has.

  40. Planned for us. Okay, this is awesome.

  41. We appreciate all of our listeners and we love when

  49. either ones of you, Well, did you think she's a

  50. little Italian no, I think I think desiratus typed it.

  51. Do you think so?

  52. Okay, my mom your mom ever said YenS? Yeah, all

  53. of you's.

  54. No, no, no, That's why I was saying, I think

  55. it's anyways, Well, that was wonderful Sharman.

  56. Yeah, we're going to keep trying to laugh. Yeah. We

  57. can't imagine a world without it either, I agree, Kelly R.

  58. Writes in this next one, Kelly, great episode, Jeff and Chris.

  59. I love the two of you together. It's not the

  60. same when one of you isn't there.

  61. Oh that's really nice. That's really nice. I don't know

  62. what I would do without Chris. Oh that's very sweet

  63. if you mean that. But I'd rather I'd rather do

  64. without Chris. And there it is there this year. It's

  65. so much fun working together. I love it.

  66. We we really do. We laugh a lot when we're

  67. not on a camera. It's all time.

  68. Yeah, yeah, although I do, I do love you know,

  69. like Wesley does a great job when he goes inky,

  70. great job.

  71. We've had Dave Wilson once or twice. Who else do

  72. we have Tom Tom Blounce? Yeah, Tom Bloun we have it? Yeah? Cool?

  73. All right, and then you get the last one.

  74. My New Year's Oh, this is from Crystal, Crystal ge My.

  75. Crystal says, my new Year's resolution is to watch Bible

  76. Guys daily every day.

  77. Well, here is day twenty two. That's what she wrote it,

  78. which is pretty cool.

  79. It says the first thing I do every day and

  80. best part is Chris singing good morning. Well, then yesterday

  81. bus must have been amazing for her, amazingly. Well that

  82. was just for you, then, Crystal, thanks for getting my

  83. morning started in.

  84. The right direction. Oh that was really nice.

  85. Yes, we're getting it started. I don't know if it's

  86. in the right direction, but we're getting it started.

  87. Yes, well, she says, it is so, and it's because

  88. we love talking about the Bible.

  89. That's right. It's one of our favorite things.

  90. Yes, and so hence the name. Yes, we are the

  91. the Bible Guys. Yes, which, by the way, not not.

  92. Just some Bible guys or a Bible guys. It's like

  93. the Ohio State University the Bible guys there.

  94. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, the always say so, there are

  95. other Bible guys, yes, but we are the Bible guys.

  96. And the way the way that you know that we

  97. are the Bible guys is because we have the Bible

  98. Guys dot com.

  99. Yes, that's how you know. That's how you know it's real.

  100. It's a legit right there.

  108. You know, like if if you.

  109. Were to just like take one of our video links,

  110. post it and just say, hey, I love these guys,

  111. give them a listen.

  112. Uh, we would love that.

  113. So tell us what happened. You got a message and

  114. this happens, this happens often to us.

  115. Yeah, so I got I got a message instant message

  116. from a guy who I'm not going to say his name,

  117. but I knew him well in Bible College and he's

  118. a missionary in Russia. Okay, And so basically he inste

  119. messages me out of the blue. And I haven't heard

  120. from this guy or even honestly thought about.

  121. Him for like thirty years. Yeah, that's amazing.

  122. I worked with him at Automagic card. Do you tail

  123. a shop? He was my manager and also Bibble College. Anyway,

  124. so he goes playing. He's like, hey, how you doing.

  125. We're missionaries in Russia. I'm like, dude, I haven't heard

  126. from you in thirty years. What's going on? And he said,

  127. I stumbled upon you guys in your podcast. He said,

  128. I was listening to Bibble podcasts and all of a sudden,

  129. I had you planning in the background. My wife walks

  130. by and goes, that's.

  131. Chris Arbo and she recognized your voice.

  132. She recognized my voice and me, so, thirty years ago

  133. you had this recipee voice.

  134. Yes, but also they were watching the video.

  135. Oh I see yeah, yeah, yeah, so she recognized me

  136. and she goes, that's Chris, and so he goes, so,

  137. I just, you know, instant message.

  138. You see how you doing?

  139. So we caught up on thirty years because he stumbled

  140. upon the Bible guys in Russia.

  141. Yeah, so share with your friends.

  142. That's what happens, right, is the algorithms just kind of

  143. promote and push the things that your friends will be

  144. interested in when you let them know that you're interested.

  145. So that's cool.

  146. Well, the same time that happened, I was in East

  147. Africa and I had a guy from Tanzania tell me

  148. that he's been watching all watching all the podcasts too,

  149. So wow.

  150. It's crazy. It's just crazy how it happens.

  151. Yeah, but he's got a smartphone, so that's yeah, that's

  152. isn't that crazy?

  153. That is crazy?

  154. So uh anyways, Bible guys dot com share link right

  155. you hre link right here on the on the YouTube page.

  156. If that's what you're doing. If you listen on on

  157. any of the podcasting platforms, you can always grab that

  158. U r ol and send it, share it with your friends,

  159. and uh, hey, help us get some more listeners.

  160. Help us, help your friends, help us, help you. That's right,

  161. Jerry Maguire, help me help you there Cuba. I can

  162. never say his name. I love him though. I think

  163. you're the one doing transitions today.

  164. Oh you know what we slaughtered that segment?

  165. No, no, you did not.

  166. Hey, by the way, Jay, he was about the slaughter

  167. what seems like hundreds of priests and as they're trapped

  168. in a temple.

  169. So if this is your second time to listen to

  170. us this week, we kind of have a trend going right.

  171. This is a pretty pretty rough week. Yeah right. But

  172. here's what happens.

  173. That a great transition that was a yes, a great

  174. terrible transition, great horrible transition.

  175. Saint King's Chapter ten says this in verse eighteen.

  176. Then Jayhu called a meeting of all the people of

  177. the city and said to them, Ahab's worship of Bail

  178. was nothing compared to the way I will worship him. Therefore,

  179. some and all the prophets and worshippers of Bail and

  180. called together all his priests. See to it that every

  181. one of them comes, for I am going to offer

  182. a great sacrifice to Bail. Anyone who fails to come

  183. will be put to death. But jay Who's cunning plan

  184. was to destroy all the worshipers of Bail. Then jay

  185. Who ordered prepare a solemn assembly worship to worship Bail.

  186. So they did.

  187. He sent messengers throughout all Israel, summoning those who worshiped Bail,

  188. and they all came. Not a single one remained behind,

  189. and they filled the temple of Bait from one end

  190. to the other. Jayhu instructed the keeper of the wardrobe,

  191. be sure that every worshipper of Bail wears one of

  192. these robes.

  193. So robes were given to them.

  194. Then Jay who went into the Temple of Bail with Johannadabs,

  195. son of Rekib Jahu, said to the worshippers of Bail,

  196. make sure no one who worships the lord is here,

  197. only those who worshiped Bail. So they were all inside

  198. the temple to offer sacrifices and burn offerings. Now Jayhu

  199. was stationed, had stationed eighty of his men outside the

  200. building and warned them, if you let anyone.

  201. Escape, you will pay for it with your own life.

  202. As soon as Jahu had finished sacrificing the burnt offering,

  203. you commanded his guards and officers go in and kill

  204. all of them. Don't let a single one escape. So

  205. they killed them all with their swords, and the guards

  206. and officers dragged their bodies outside. Then Jay Whu's men

  207. went into the innermost fortress of the Temple of Bail.

  208. They dragged out the sacred pillar used in the worship

  209. of Bail and burned it. They smashed the sacred pillar

  210. and wrecked the Temple of Bail, converting into a public

  211. toilet as it remains to this day. In this way,

  212. it's amazing. I love the Bible.

  213. People got get anything out of it. I'm like, are

  214. you serious? Or people telling me the Bible's kind of boring,

  215. I'm like, are you serious. You haven't read it, then

  216. you haven't read Second Kings right for sure.

  217. In this way, Jayhu destroyed every trace of bail worship

  218. from Israel. He did not, however, destroy the gold calves

  219. at Bethel and Dan with which jereboeam' son and Niba

  220. had caused Israel to sin. Nonetheless, the Lord said to Jayhu,

  221. you have done well in following my instructions to destroy

  222. the family they have. Therefore, your descendants will be kings

  223. of Israel down to the fourth generation. But Jayhu did

  224. not obey the law of the Lord, the God of Israel.

  225. With all his heart. He refused to turn from the

  226. sins that Jereboam had led to Israel to commit.

  227. Wow, man, Jayhu, you were right there, buddy. Yeah.

  228. You know yesterday you had said there's something to be

  229. said about going all the way.

  230. Yeah, and make no mistake of it.

  231. When he wanted to get rid of Bail, out of

  232. the city or out of the region, he went all

  233. the way, buddy. He did everything he could to the

  234. nth degree. But he did not go all the way

  235. when it comes to all false worship, which, by the way,

  236. if we remember these things, what's the reason why, what's

  237. his name, Jerbom, what's the reason why Jerreboem decided to

  238. set up.

  239. Golden calves in the north. Anyway? Why did he set

  240. them up in the north.

  241. Was because he was afraid that people go down to

  242. Jerusalem to worships. Yes, give him something else.

  243. Yes, because the temple is located in Jerusalem, which is

  244. the region of Judah. And so remember there's the king

  245. of the Northern Tribes of Israel, which is ten of

  246. the twelve tribes of Israel, which is what we're talking

  247. about here, Jehu. And then there's the two kings of

  248. Judah and Benjamin. And by the way, both were large.

  249. Judah by far was the largest region, the largest tribe anyway, right,

  250. but the Northern Kingdom was larger in terms of totality, Yeah, totality.

  251. But anyway, the point is is that everybody in Israel

  252. had been trained, and you know, they knew that he

  253. was supposed to go down the temple to worship. Well,

  254. Jeribom set up the golden calves because he didn't want

  255. them to go down there because he was afraid if

  256. they went down there, they would stay down there. Right,

  257. So I guess I can, you know, at least it

  258. makes sense to me. It's awful, right. He should have

  259. he should have getten rid of them. But I think

  260. I understand why he didn't because he's thinking, hey, I can't.

  261. Get rid of those. Number one, they were ingrained in culture.

  262. But at this point, yeah, yeah, I wonder if Jeroboehm

  263. had some kind of a hybrid. We're not really worshiping

  264. these calves. We're worshiping they worship the true God or something.

  265. Right, because what they were supposed to represent.

  266. Right, there's some kind of a you know, the power

  267. of the true God or whatever. But God says, don't

  268. make any graven images.

  269. That's what he says. Right.

  270. Sometimes I'll hear people who even participate in Christian religious

  271. things that also have little statues that they pray to, say, well,

  272. not praying to that statue, I'm praying to what that

  273. statue represents. It's kind of very similar, I think, to

  274. these gods. Right, and so there's that. I feel bad

  275. for j Hugh, And I think from the very get go,

  276. we know Jay he was very ambitious. He was very

  277. ambitious guy. God speaks to him, which blows my mind

  278. that God gives him these instructions. And then he still

  279. worships an idol right at the end, right, or leads

  280. the people to doesn't say he worships idle. He lets

  281. the people worship that.

  282. I sort of realized. He allowed the people, yes to

  283. have yeah, keep it.

  284. They kept those there in Bethel and Dan and and

  285. what you see is he does a lot of very

  286. politically expedient things, taking advantage of God's orders right right,

  287. and so he he wipes out ab ahab sons. I mean,

  288. he wipes out all AaB sons and all the prophets

  289. of Bail. And oh, by the way, let's just get

  290. rid of Ahab's buddies too. He kills he kills a Haziah.

  291. Doesn't he's not commanded to, but he does.

  292. Right now.

  293. He wipes out his competition to the south. But he

  294. leaves these these calves because politically it's probably gonna cost

  295. him a lot.

  296. Right. He gets rid of Bail because Bail's the bad guy. Bail.

  297. Bail worship was full on w kid evil beyond. I

  298. think our modern comprehension of how evil.

  299. The worship the worship of Bail was.

  300. Yeah, whereas bombing down to a couple of gold calfs

  301. and leaving a little cash offering every once in a while,

  302. probably to Jay who didn't seem like it was that

  303. big of a deal.

  304. Well, and it served the same purpose. Like you said,

  305. it was there to represent the true God or Israel.

  306. Right, and so they had this, Well, it was to

  307. represent the God of Israel. It didn't represent the true God.

  308. But that's kind of what how Jerebohm was setting it

  309. up for.

  310. Oh yeah, yeah, well represent meaning meaning you're praying to

  311. that same god. Yeah yeah, but yeah, you're not supposed

  312. to have an image representing him as what.

  313. Yeah, yeah, either way, I don't know if he was

  314. trying to say this is the exact same God. I

  315. think he's trying to say it's the same thing, just

  316. as good is perhaps what he was doing there. But anyways,

  317. the Lord told him to do these things, and he

  318. does them. And as I mentioned, he literally cleans house

  319. when it comes to Bail. I love that about it him,

  320. like go jau right yep, And not that I love

  321. the slaughter side of it, but these are the consequence

  322. is that God had set up for these people, and

  323. it was really clear, and it's not like they had

  324. to go do this. These are these prophets are Israelites.

  325. They're not strangers that got brought in that didn't know

  326. God's laws. They knew God's laws. They rejected God's laws,

  327. and they led the people for the sake of the

  328. perversion or for the sake of the money or whatever,

  329. they led the people astray away from God to these

  330. these this false God. And so God had said, this

  331. is going to be the consequence. You're gonna you're gonna

  332. you're gonna be executed for this, and he uses Jahu

  333. for that purpose.

  334. So that's great.

  335. But then, man, every one of these kings almost gets there,

  336. don't they almost?

  337. Yep? Almost, Which, by the way, have you ever heard

  338. Brian Reagan talk about the word manslaughter?

  339. Yeah? I love that.

  340. Brian Regan is a famous community he was one of

  341. our favorite and he says, you know, a lot of

  342. times people get charged with manslaughter, but it's not murder.

  343. It's a it's like it's like with the intent to harm,

  344. and they call it manslaughter.

  345. And he goes, he is without the intent manslaughter is

  346. without the intent. You killed the person, but you didn't

  347. mean to kill it. Yeah, yeah, that's right, that's right.

  348. And he goes, he goes, but he goes, but he goes,

  349. think about that.

  350. It's a horrible word. It's a horrible word. He goes,

  351. what are you inford, He goes, I slaughtered.

  352. Them, man, But yeah, without the intent, that's right. But

  353. but anyway, uh yeah, so let's not overlook this fact

  354. that Jayhu has a pretty good plan. He's like, okay,

  355. make sure there's not a single one left. So he

  356. so he makes sure that that's that happens, and then

  357. he says, make sure they all wear the same robes. Now,

  358. can you imagine being in the middle of this cattle.

  359. You know, I'm sure these people felt like cattle.

  360. Right.

  361. They're all the worshipers of Bail, they're all in the temple,

  362. they're all packed together.

  363. In this one room.

  364. Hey, everybody, put on this robe. And you're thinking, you're thinking, oh, okay,

  365. shop put on this robe and uh and uh, you know,

  366. probably not even thinking like this was the way to

  367. identify who to kill.

  368. Look at this fancy, bright yellow robe right right right.

  369. This is really nice and and everybody's wearing the exact

  370. same clothes.

  371. Well think about that. The what the cleverness of Jay

  372. who This is my point. My point is is he says, Hey,

  373. you think you think a have worshiped Bail. Wait, you

  374. see my worship of Bail so so so he's convincing.

  375. He's tricking all the prophets of Bail. Wow, there's never

  376. been a worship experience like this. And we all got

  377. fancy robes. We're all in here, dude, everybody's here. That

  378. guy's here, that guy's here, all the famous words, they're.

  379. All every one of us. We're all here, and he's

  380. and he's building it up. Jay who's building it up?

  381. Like and none of that.

  382. But he's like, make sure there's not a single actual

  383. worshiper of the Lord in this place.

  384. Right. Well, they interpreted as wow, but we don't have

  385. to deal with anybody else. This is just this is

  386. a pure Bail worshiping moment. I mean everything that Jah

  387. was doing is.

  388. So clever, rightfu, Yes, yes, so uh this just I

  389. was in Nairobi last week and we had all the

  390. guys from around the world. About three hundred leaders came

  391. in from forty something different countries around the world for

  392. this gathering, and they're all, you know, none of them

  393. are prosperous, wealthy people. So we decided on the last

  394. day to take everybody on a safari. And it turns out,

  395. believing or not, they live in the countries where safaris

  396. are and almost none of them have been on a

  397. safari ever. Wow, So we have three hundred people going

  398. on safari at one time.

  399. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was crazy. WHOA, so that's going

  400. to be.

  401. So we bought, well, we rented these great, big safari

  402. trucks and they were huge.

  403. They fit fit like twenty people in each one of them.

  404. We rent a whole bunch of them, so it was

  405. it was, I don't know, it was crazy. So they

  406. bought before we left everybody, they bought everybody a safari hat, right,

  407. like like a tan safari hat. They were definitely they

  408. bought them on you know, Timu or something. They were

  409. super cheap. But still, and it was funny because you know,

  410. you got a lot of sun. It's really bright. It's

  411. hot right now there. It was in the eighties nineties,

  412. and so I can remember a couple of times we

  413. stopped one time for a restroom break out in the

  414. middle of the National Park whatever, and you get out

  415. and there's just all these people. But then you could

  416. always find our people because everybody's wearing the same hat, right,

  417. So you're looking through this massive crowd, they all are

  418. very very similar to my eyes, you know what I mean.

  419. I said, well, the hat, hat hat, those are our guys,

  420. right right, And yeah, so that's exactly what they really

  421. stood out they're wearing. You know, they were wearing hats.

  422. These guys are all wearing.

  423. The same roads.

  424. That's exactly why we about that, so we can keep

  425. back everybody.

  426. Yeah, it was a great idea.

  427. So so it's the same kind of thing, right that

  428. I don't know that we took all three hundred on

  429. the Safaris as I'm working it out right now, I

  430. don't know, but it was it was well over one

  431. hundred hundred and fifty something like that that we took.

  432. And uh so he does the same thing. He gives

  433. them all the same clothes so they would stand out,

  434. and he says, make sure no worshippers are God or here.

  435. This is just a private event.

  436. Yeah, right, so now he's wanting to make sure let's

  437. not mess this up either. Let's not accidentally kill the

  438. wrong guys. We're just going to wipe out the priests

  439. of Bail and the worshippers of Bail.

  440. Oh so you thought of the safari a. It's because

  441. of the yellow rogue. Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's how

  442. I was thinking about.

  443. Yeah. So I was just recently rereading John Eldridge's book

  444. Wild at Heart.

  445. Yeah, and we talked about it a couple of weeks

  446. ago on the about Yeah.

  447. Yeah, and he well, it's because of that. I was

  448. flying home and I remembered that we had talked about it.

  449. On one thing, I think, I thought, I haven't read

  450. that book in like one hundred years, you know, it seems.

  451. Like it was on I know it's a long time.

  452. So I look good. I look good for one hundred years.

  453. I don't look great for fifty three, but I look

  454. good for a hundred.

  455. So so the.

  456. I was reading it on the plane and it just

  457. reminded me how our God is a warrior. Right, So

  458. every every boy grows up with this warrior in them, right,

  459. and it's the same thing that our God is a warrior.

  460. So the Bible says that there's a point where God says,

  461. Israel is my bride. Multiple times he says Israel is

  462. his bride, and he asks them, why are you cheating

  463. on me with other gods? So where we only think

  464. of this great cosmic circumstance of a creator of this planet,

  465. this universe, God's loss. We only think of it from

  466. our perspective. But it turns out it's not our story,

  467. it's his. And what he made was a bride. He

  468. made somebody to love and to be loved by. And

  469. then he says, I'm going to provide for you. I'm

  470. going to offer security to you. I'm going to give

  471. you homes and land, and I'm going to give you

  472. a land full of milk and honey. I'm going to

  473. give you peace if you'll follow me. I'm going to

  474. give you prosperity. Just show me your love. That's all

  475. I want. I just want your love. And then, on

  476. multiple occasions through the prophets, he says, why are you cheating?

  477. I mean literally committing adultery. He says at one point,

  478. why are you horing around with the other gods?

  479. Right?

  480. And so finally God decides, you know what, I'm going

  481. to war for my bride. That's what he does, He's

  482. going to war. And this is that God uses men

  483. to do his bidding right in this and so he's

  484. using a future king to wipe out the bad king.

  485. He's using a future leader to wipe out the bad prophets, right,

  486. that's the mechanism he's choosing, using the moment. But this

  487. is a warring God. You ever wonder how God feels

  488. about at you, this is how God feels about you.

  489. I'm all in, I'm gonna do whatever it takes to

  490. get you back right. And so I think some of

  491. the difficulties we have in our life is is our

  492. own bad decisions, but it's also God doing battle to

  493. get us back right, to win us back and if

  494. we can just understand that his passion for us. You know,

  495. the Bible says in Exodus that don't have any other gods.

  496. God's a jealous God, right, And that jealous is like

  497. a lover's jealousy. It's not jealous like I wish I

  498. had what you had, right, That's not it. It's I

  499. have this passion for you that I don't want. I

  500. don't want your heart to be stolen by anybody else.

  501. Right.

  502. And if you've ever been in love. You know what

  503. that means, right, you feel the same way about you

  504. about the one that you love. And this is how

  505. God feels about the people of Israel. So while we

  506. look at him, we go, wow, he's wiping out a

  507. bunch of people. These are horrible, evil people that have

  508. chosen to run away from God, not to follow God.

  509. And he's saying, I'm doing battle. I want all the

  510. rest of it is let's come back to me, right,

  511. That's what I want. So let's get rid of the

  512. one who lead the worship away from me, and then

  513. let's elevate the ones who will lead worship coming to me.

  514. And jay who has this opportunity, I honestly believe I think,

  515. I think, I really do believe that if Jayhu had

  516. led the people to wholeheartedly worship God, I think jay

  517. Who would have reunited Israel. I think I think he

  518. had that opportunity. He was so forceful, he was so demanding.

  519. A has Aa is out of the way at this point.

  520. If he had led these people and it led them

  521. back to Jerusalem for worship and led them, I think

  522. God will done it because he was doing everything else

  523. right except politically.

  524. I don't want him go down to Jerusalem. So I'm

  525. going to keep these two calves, so dumb man.

  526. But yeah, God's a warrior and he's fighting for your

  527. love and compassion and love and passion.

  528. That's great. Well, there definitely is that perspective. Well, there's

  529. baskets full of heads just in the last two chapters,

  530. so that's right, right, that's great. He's going to war

  531. for you, Yeah for sure.

  532. Hey, well that's a great place to end, and that's

  533. our time, so hopefully we will see you next time.

  534. On the Bible Gush one
