  1. You're listening to The Bible Guys, a podcast where a

  2. couple of friends talk about the Bible in fun in

  3. practical ways. Well, good morning, everybody. My name is Chris

  4. and I'm Kyle, and we today are the Bible Guys.

  5. That's right, Kyle, you are a veteran of the Bible Guys.

  6. You've been here several times, at least one, at least three,

  7. at least three if you listen yesterday. I put my

  8. foot in the off because I didn't know how many

  9. times Quinn had been on a Bible Guy. But you

  10. have certainly been. I would say, besides Jeff and I,

  11. you're definitely the most frequent guest.

  12. All right, son, good? I take that part three.

  13. When I was when I was, when I was a

  14. pastor at a church and I wasn't the lead pastor,

  15. they used to say, hey, you're a junior pastor. That fun, right,

  16. You're a junior Binal guy.

  17. Dude, I've had it said to me before. We're like,

  18. like even when they becoming a campus pastor, people like,

  19. oh my gosh, you're finally a real pastor now. And

  20. I'm like, and you're like, when did that happen?

  21. Thanks? That i'd like you know this or not, but

  22. I've been a pastor. It's it's quite a while. Well, hey,

  23. so today a couple of things. Number One, Jeff's out

  24. of the country, so we're having a different Bible Guy's

  25. guest every day.

  26. It's gonna be great, man. I love this idea.

  27. Yeah, it's cool. And then secondly, I've got to throw

  28. this announcement. If you feel like it, join us for

  29. our very first invitational, this first time we've ever promoted this.

  30. But on April twenty fourth in the Inlay City campus

  31. at Heritage Church, we are doing a live Bible Guys event.

  32. So April twenty fourth, it starts at six o'clock. Just

  33. show up at the church, walk in and we're doing

  34. an actual recording of the Bible Guys in La City,

  35. which is a little bit north of where we are,

  36. about forty five minutes and it's gonna be cool event.

  37. And so if you want to, if you're in the

  38. area and you know us, and maybe you don't even

  39. go to Heritage Church, that's really cool, right, just show up.

  40. Yeah, it's kind of cool. Worth it. Oh, absolutely, that's greata.

  41. I think it'd be neat. So there you go buddy.

  42. And so we're gonna start with a segment. In fact,

  43. I call this the crazy Question segment all week. Gotcha?

  44. Gotcha?

  45. Okay, So here it is one of our regular Bible guys.

  46. Kyle is back today.

  47. Hi Kyle.

  48. Since he's been with us last he's become the pastor

  49. at our newest campus, which is our Stony Creek campus

  50. that meets in Stony Creek High School. So here's today's question.

  51. You're in charge of creating a new sport. What's the

  52. most bizarre combination of sports you throw together? What a

  53. crazy question? It seems kind of randomness.

  54. It is, it is, but honestly it's funny. I don't

  55. know if you've ever thought about this yourself. I don't

  56. know if i'd say combination wise. Something I think is

  57. so cool is my kids are big fans of Dude

  58. Perfect and Dude Perfect. They do this thing. It's called

  59. the Extreme Sports Golf Challenge. Oh yeah, you like this

  60. because you're a golfer as well. And what they end

  61. up doing is they'll so they like they like spin

  62. a wheel, and they for every every hit of a

  63. golf ball, the way they count the score, they're counting

  64. how many strokes they have. It's a different club, it's

  65. a different or sporting thing. So like they may draw

  66. and it's like a frisbee, So they throw a frisbee

  67. down the green. The next one they draw it into

  68. a soccer ball or it's a hockey shot, and so

  69. they're trying to go along.

  70. It's replacing the golf ball exactly. So it's not necessarily

  71. like a five iron.

  72. No no, no, no no, it's it's literally replacing using a

  73. different sport. So they've had different celebrity. They've had Baker Mayfield,

  74. they've had Tom Brady, They've had different people on there.

  75. I think Drew Brees was on one of them. And

  76. they do this I think they call it All Sports

  77. Golf Battle and where they combined different sports. I think

  78. that'd be actually fun to watch on TV.

  79. Oh I mean, but instead a new sport that's an

  80. existing sport.

  81. It's not well it's it's not a YouTube channel. Yeah,

  82. I would definitely steal it. How do we make that famous?

  83. And then the only other one I thought of before

  84. because I would love to watch is I think when

  85. you were growing up there you were watch like pros

  86. versus Joe's It was like it was like professional athletes playing.

  87. I'm watching Battle of the Network Stars prettybody fifty over.

  88. They're gonna love that joke.

  89. Yeah, I don't even know what that is, all right, exactly,

  90. but there's pros versus jos. They would have random people

  91. go compete against pros and sports. I would love to

  92. see a new version of that. Or I would love

  93. to see a crossover where, like you have professional athletes,

  94. current professional athletes playing other professional sports. I would love

  95. to see Lebron James play football or something like that,

  96. or or like Michael Jordan play baseball exactly. You should

  97. try that, you know what. That would be a good idea. Yeah,

  98. get him to play hockey. That'd be good. But it

  99. wouldn't be kind of fun to see that different different

  100. crossover sports. So yeah, anyways, that's very very cool. I'd

  101. pay money to watch that for sure.

  102. Yeah. Well, you know what, speaking of extreme things, okay,

  103. I think Solomon has written one of the most extremely

  104. famous passages for godly women and Proverbs thirty one. Wow,

  105. that's terrible, terrible.

  106. Speaking of sports, we can argue about who has the

  107. better wife today?

  108. What did you say better?

  109. I don't know, it's a bad You said, these are

  110. bad transitions to they were talking about a wife of

  111. noble character? Brother, okay, okay, yes, yes.

  112. I was like, I was like, where they where are

  113. we going with?

  114. Yes, hey man, better wife? You said, I know, you said, hey,

  115. let's have a bad transition.

  116. I'm like, all right, I'll let you know this about Jeff,

  117. But did you know that every time he wants to

  118. disassociate himself with a comment, he always says, oh no,

  119. did you know that?

  120. Oh yeah, yeah, and he looks at tv ye.

  121. So if I'll say something, he goes, oh no, oh no,

  122. and I'm like, I'm like, so I know I've said

  123. something bad, right because he doesn't want to be a

  124. part of it. So he says, oh no, So that's

  125. what I almost wanted to say.

  126. He said, why you're saying this guy.

  127. Is the better wife.

  128. I'm like, uh, oh no, where are we going with

  129. this guyle? No, but we're actually reading about that actually

  130. a wife of noble character. And I think that this

  131. was chosen in particular for you and I to read

  132. it together because I think there's some the person who

  133. planned this desert. I think she has a lot of

  134. respect for both of our wives.

  135. So that's it. That's a good thing, right, Oh, for sure,

  136. great thing. Or it could be that maybe you just

  137. happened to land on the day that we're right at

  138. probably thirty one.

  139. I like to assume that it was chosen, it has written.

  140. It's like the Claw the Toy story. I'm chosen.

  141. Yes, for sure.

  142. I had all sorts of you know, I have a

  143. thousand movie references, Like in every conversation. I mean, you

  144. said combining sports. I'm like, I almost said, you know,

  145. there's a movie about that. Oh Wilson and Jenny McCarthy

  146. and they called it basketball and they combined different sports

  147. and it was really a terrible, terrible, terrible movie. Not good,

  148. but it was terrible, which I just said four times.

  149. But yet that came to my mind because you say

  150. combining sports. I'm like, that's been done.

  151. Actually, yeah, said, I've never heard of it with those

  152. two actors in it.

  153. It's probably like nineteen ninety seven, ninety six.

  154. So it wasn't it wasn't memorable enough.

  155. Yeah, that's why I see how good I am. On

  156. the year I turned off my thing, we have to

  157. go about, hang onaball, what year did the movie Basketball

  158. come out with Jenny McCarthy. It's got me mid nineties,

  159. nineteen ninety seven.

  160. Look at that.

  161. Look at that?

  162. What it pro everybody wherever you're I give it up

  163. for Chris Oball movie buff All. Right, buddy, should we

  164. start reading here Proverbs?

  165. I think so?

  166. Yeah, thirty one Okay, time, So this is the sayings

  167. of how would you say this, King Lemuel?

  168. Yeah, so I've always read it Lemuele Lemule.

  169. Okay, but we can.

  170. Talk about that later because there's probably a good note

  171. on here. Yeah, because I grew up finding out about Lemuele.

  172. But you're probably right it's probably le Mule.

  173. Yeah. Well, there you go. We'll start in the Proverbs

  174. thirty one, verse one. The sayings of King Lemule contains

  175. this message which his mother taught him. Oh my son, O,

  176. son of my womb, Oh, son of my vows, do

  177. not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings.

  178. It is not for kings old Lemuel to get to

  179. guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol, but if they drink,

  180. they may forget the law and not give justice to

  181. the oppressed. Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for

  182. those in bitter distress. Let them drink to forget their

  183. poverty and remember their troubles. Speak up for those who

  184. cannot speak for themselves, and sure justice for those being crushed. Yes,

  185. speak up for the poor and helpless and see that

  186. they get justice. And this next section is what I

  187. was referring to earlier with the sport about our wives

  188. bad joke. I apologize, yay, but.

  189. No, none of that. But oh no, I'm gonna wait

  190. you're done to talk about it, because I'm really excited

  191. to actually about the first.

  192. Couple of verses. But this next section is titled a

  193. wife of noble character as who can find a virtuous

  194. and capable wife. She is more precious than Rubi's. Her

  195. husband can trust her and she will get greatly enrich

  196. his life. She brings him good, not harm. All the

  197. days of her life. She finds woolen flax and busily

  198. spins it. She is like a merchant's ship. Bring her

  199. food from afar. She gets up before dawn to prepare

  200. breakfast for her household and plan the day's work for

  201. her servant girls.

  202. I bet you that's Liz way more than Kristen.

  203. The whole time, We're just going to tell you though.

  204. She goes to inspect a field and buys it. With

  205. her earnings, she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong,

  206. a hard worker. She makes her dealings, Oh sorry, She

  207. makes sure her dealings are profitable. Her lamp burns late

  208. into the night. Does lit's stay up late at night?

  209. No Kristen neither, so no zero zero on that one.

  210. Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber.

  211. She extends a helping hand of the poor and opens

  212. her arms to the needy. She has no fear of

  213. winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes. She

  214. makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and

  215. purple gowns. Her husband is well known at the city gates,

  216. where he sits with the other civic leaders. She makes

  217. belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants.

  218. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs

  219. without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words

  220. are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully

  221. watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.

  222. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her.

  223. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,

  224. but you surpass them all. I love this ending here

  225. it says charm is deceptive and beauty does not last.

  226. But a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

  227. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds

  228. publicly declare her praise.

  229. Yeah, it's one of the coolest proverbs that there is, right, Yes,

  230. And as we mentioned yesterday in the podcast, proverbs is

  231. generally just a bunch of wise things, most of the

  232. time thrown together, and you know, you know, written consecutively.

  233. But a single chapter or section may have thirty verses,

  234. and it may be twenty five different subjects, right, because

  235. there's usually a you know, a couple verses on the

  236. same subject, that kind of thing. But in this particular case,

  237. this whole chapter seems to be about one topic. Right now,

  238. different different characteristics of wives and a wonderful wife actually

  239. it's a godly woman. It's not a godly wife, but

  240. it does refer to her as a wife here, but

  241. it could be applied to all women. Right, And let

  242. me just say this before we even jump into this.

  243. This this doesn't go against like you think about twenty

  244. twenty five, people are so afraid to say that men

  245. and women are different. And I'm not talking about Christians.

  246. I'm talking about like the you know, in politics, you

  247. know what's socially acceptable, but you know, God made us

  248. very different. Yeah, And in the nineteen fifties, stigma of like,

  249. you know, woman's in the kitchen, staying home, barefoot, pregnant,

  250. raising kids. Well, that's not a good image. But if

  251. you think about it, everything about this thing, written you know,

  252. thousands of years ago has her as a good business

  253. womans right, doesn't have her home in the nineteen fifties

  254. with a blender.

  255. Yeah right.

  256. It just describes how unbelievably awesome a wife can be.

  257. And it feels to me like it's both agree. It

  258. feels like it feels like she's a woman and she's

  259. different than a man, and at the same time she

  260. has a role to play in the marriage, and at

  261. the same time she takes on all the ambitious things

  262. that women can and will do today.

  263. Yeah. Well, I love how it says she is clothed

  264. with strength and dignity, because a lot of times when

  265. you think of strength, you know, of course we want

  266. to think, oh, that must be describing a man. And

  267. I love this with the first point I actually had

  268. as well, agreeing with you, Chris, I think it's so

  269. cool with a high view of women that God has

  270. so many people. I talk to people a lot of

  271. times who have issues with the Bible because they feel

  272. like women are and I know you talk about this

  273. in the Bible guys a lot, but how they believe

  274. that the Bible is outdated and in its view of women.

  275. And it's so interesting because you don't see that with Jesus.

  276. Jesus had a very high view of women, the way

  277. he appeared to women at the tomb, the way his

  278. the first time he talked about being the son of

  279. God was to a woman.

  280. Well women, first first of the cross, first of the tomb.

  281. Yeah, it's incredible. And then a culture when that would

  282. just not was not socially acceptable in that culture has

  283. nothing with God but just that culture. Then you throw

  284. in something like this and you read it and this

  285. is a like a girl like you're saying, like a

  286. girl boss. Right here is who is respected, who is

  287. out like I said, going and making her own food,

  288. making her own you know, clothing, her family, her kids

  289. love her, her husband respects her, and is respected by others.

  290. And I just love that that. It's just this high

  291. view of women right there.

  292. So one of the things that I mentioned earlier was

  293. I said that verse number one king Lemule. So there's

  294. different theories on King Lemuele. In fact, there's a note

  295. here in the Life Application and Study Bible that says

  296. little is known about Lemule except the fact that he

  297. was a king who received wise teachings from his mother.

  298. His name means devoted to God. Some believe that Lemuel

  299. and a Gore were both from the kingdom of Massa

  300. and Northern Arabia. Now growing up, I also remember reading

  301. that King le Mule could also be a nickname for

  302. Solomon himself. Wow, and so and I remember, actually there's

  303. a pretty good amount of scholars that I believe probably

  304. lean toward that way as well. And but but again,

  305. because there's not a lot of information, we can only guess, right,

  306. we don't, We don't really know, that's the bottom line.

  307. But however, when I heard that some people think it

  308. could be Solomon, think about the lens in which Solomon

  309. writes this, Because don't you remember who was Solomon's.

  310. Mom was yeah, yeah, right.

  311. So what is David and Beshida Basheba best known for

  312. adultery in the scandal, So think about that through this lens. Oh,

  313. my son, son of my wombs, son of my vows,

  314. do not waste your strength on women who on those

  315. he ruined kings. Right, So that could be because it

  316. says the sayings of King the Mule contained this message

  317. which his mother taught him. Think about it. If it

  318. was Bestsheba, the mother of King the Mule, why would

  319. that not be one of the lessons that she would say.

  320. You know, hey, don't don't make the same mistakes we did, right,

  321. don't learn the hard way like we did. And so

  322. if you think about it that way, what a great

  323. parenting moment for Solomon, because it is it is then

  324. like it's not just wisdom, it's wisdom by experience exactly.

  325. You know. Another thing I love about this too is

  326. a lot of times I've heard people reference this verse

  327. and talk about and it can be a tough one

  328. to strive for, but I always use it as a

  329. way for especially like my daughters. Even so, one thing

  330. about I have a fourteen year old and a twelve

  331. year old daughter. And I don't know if you know

  332. you've known this or noticed this with the younger generation,

  333. but there's this really cool revival happening with young people

  334. that I think is a lot of people want to

  335. hate on the next generation. I won't be I know,

  336. you're not that way. I'm not that way. But I

  337. have seen this huge revival and young people actually actually

  338. reading their like reading their physical Bible like people walk.

  339. I was in there on the airplane a couple weeks

  340. ago and the some young seventeen year old bust I

  341. was Bible reading Romans on the Bible or in the plane.

  342. I'm like, wow, anyways, yeah, so we're just talking about Romans.

  343. He's a seventeen year old. I'm with, this is so cool.

  344. But so my daughters are in that same, you know,

  345. that younger generation, and they they they then their friends

  346. they'll buy like highlighters and highlight their Bibles. And so

  347. a few months ago I remember mentioning to my oldest

  348. I said, oh, you got to read Proverbs thirty one,

  349. and she just thought it was so cool. You know,

  350. the way God talks about women lifts them up. But

  351. I would say one of the things that stands out here,

  352. because sometimes you can read that and it can even

  353. be discouraging for some people because it's all these descriptions

  354. of these of a woman that maybe you feel like

  355. you don't live up to you you know, you're not

  356. quite there yet and whatnot. I just want to just

  357. encourage peable by like the last statement on here where

  358. it talks about about how charm is deceptive and beauty

  359. does not last, It's is true, but a woman who

  360. fears the Lord will be greatly praised. So basically just

  361. a reminder, like as a summary of this whole thing,

  362. is that all the things you're striving after, especially in

  363. our culture, which is beauty a lot of times, and

  364. power and fame and you know maybe money or love

  365. even to be accepted, all those things are fleeting. But

  366. it's a woman who fears the Lord. I think that's

  367. such a beautiful goal, right.

  368. Yeah, yeah, you know there's actually time and I'm talking

  369. about like when I was very young, right, like you know,

  370. when I before I was married, these kinds of things.

  371. But it's probably still true today because you can say

  372. a woman's attractive and not not have that not be

  373. a negative thing, right, But but but it's always been

  374. true for me in my life, where when you and

  375. I think it's true for actually I think it's true

  376. for everybody. But let's point out the fact that when

  377. when you meet somebody and if they're not a nice person,

  378. they become uglier. It doesn't matter how good looking they are, right,

  379. we all know that. But then when you meet when you,

  380. when you when you you know, you interact with somebody

  381. and they're just a godly woman, it's like, it's almost

  382. unbelievable how much more they become attractive. And I mean

  383. even in the attractive sense, like when I was younger,

  384. when I was sixteen or seventeen or something like this,

  385. I would be like, oh, my goodness, she's way more

  386. attractive because she's you know, godly, And it is true.

  387. But you know, but respectfully, it's it's true no matter what.

  388. I think all of us can agree with that. Yeah,

  389. you know what, you know, I think it be fun.

  390. So let's go through like verse number ten, through the

  391. end of the chapter, and let's try to just sort

  392. of use a adjective to summarize what Solomon is saying. Like,

  393. for instance, so he says, who can find a virtuous

  394. and capable wife, she's more precious than rubies. And so

  395. I would just say, here's what Solomon is saying. She's valuable, right,

  396. extremely valuable. Right. And then and then you know, you

  397. go down. You know, she finds wool and flax busily

  398. spinds it. I would just say, Okay, she's a hard

  399. worker yep, yep, resourceful, yep, resourceful, right, that's good resourceful.

  400. What else?

  401. Yeah, So then let's go sixteen and she goes to

  402. inspect to feel them buys it with her earning. She

  403. plants a vineyard. That right there. I mean, shoot, that

  404. is somebody who's independent.

  405. Sure, independent, I would say that that means she's wise, right,

  406. she's she's business savvy yep. Right, and she's entrepreneurial yep,

  407. absolutely right. I mean that's that's crazy yep.

  408. I like the eighteen em And she makes sure her

  409. dealings are profitable. That's again going to resourceful. The lamp

  410. burns late into the night, so kind of going hard

  411. working again. But this is somebody who isn't idle. She's

  412. not sitting around waiting for life to happen.

  413. Yeah, she's diligent yep. She's faithful yep. And these are great, great,

  414. great adjectives. Her hands are busy spinning thread her fingers. Yeah,

  415. it's kind of thing.

  416. She extends helping hand to the poor and opens her

  417. arms in the needy. That's a great one right here.

  418. That's passionate.

  419. Yep, compassionate, that's great work.

  420. Yeah. Yeah. She has no fear of winter in her household,

  421. for everyone has warm clothes. Well, what does that mean.

  422. It means she's, uh, she's a planner yep, right, yep,

  423. so she is. She's a forward thinker. She is wisdom

  424. beyond her years. Right, So she's not going to get,

  425. you know, accused of not thinking ahead for caring for

  426. her family.

  427. I think twenty three is interesting. Her husband is well

  428. known of the city gays, where sits with the other

  429. civic leaders. So it's this idea that she, you know,

  430. in a way, she's taking care of her household. She's

  431. respected almost because her husband is respected as well. Well.

  432. I'd like to think of it as because Proverbs thirty

  433. one is describing the woman and if her husband is

  434. well in the city gates, I'd like to think that

  435. that's actually a byproduct because of.

  436. Who she is.

  437. Right, So, you know, they always say behind every good

  438. man's a good woman. True, So I would say that

  439. then that way, I would say she's humble, right, wanting

  440. her husband to be well known. She's supportive, right, So

  441. those are great things.

  442. Yeah, and I mentioned this earlier, but twenty five says

  443. she's clothed with strength and dignity. She laughs without fear

  444. of the future. Isn't that cool too? She laughs without

  445. fear of the future. Yeah, there's some confidence to her. Well,

  446. she doesn't worry. Yeah, so she's confident.

  447. Yeah, she doesn't worry, which probably also means she has

  448. strong faith, trust in the Lord, trust in you know,

  449. who God made her to be because of everything that

  450. she's doing running her household. Yeah, when she speaks, her

  451. words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness, So

  452. that means she's incredibly relational along with her wisdom, So

  453. she doesn't just have wisdom and she barks it out

  454. with you know, authoritarian, you know, do this because I'm mom.

  455. Because I said so, It says she gives instructions with

  456. kindness in her roles.

  457. Absolutely, this is great. And then twenty eight her children

  458. stand and bless her, her husband praises her. So she's

  459. just just a well respected and I think it seems

  460. like the people around her, closest to her, who met

  461. her most know her. And still it's not like she's

  462. putting on a front. She is that person to others

  463. and to her family, which is great.

  464. Those who know you best, When those who know you

  465. best and they know the worst side of you. Yes,

  466. if your children can stand and bless you, and your

  467. husband praise you, that is that means through and through.

  468. Yes, she's a good woman, right exactly.

  469. There are many virtuous and capable women of the world,

  470. but you surpass them all. So she is. She is

  471. again praised. I can't even tell you this is a

  472. strange comment to make, but you know I always you know,

  473. in my business, in your business, sometimes we do funerals, right,

  474. and so oftentimes when I do moms. One of the

  475. things that I love to hear about a mom if

  476. the deceased is a is a mother, which you know

  477. most most women are. I interview the children and I

  478. cannot even tell you. I cannot even tell you. It's

  479. almost every time they will say she was the best

  480. mom in the world. And I always think to myself,

  481. that's the way it should be, right, I think in

  482. a lot of ways. I think my mom's the best

  483. mom in the world in some categories, and we should

  484. all think that. And I think my wife is the

  485. best mom in the world. And so it's and my

  486. kids would probably say that. And and so that idea

  487. that her children stand and bless her, her husband praises her,

  488. and then they say, there are many virtuous and capable

  489. women in the world, but you surpassed them all. That's

  490. what the husband and the child say. And the reason

  491. why we know that it's in quotes. There's a colon

  492. and then there's quotes there. This is how they praise

  493. their mom and their wife. They're saying, you're the best

  494. above them all.

  495. And then amazing, Ye, it's so good, it's so good.

  496. And then to end here, the ending of the verse

  497. says Charmer is acceptive. Beauty does not last. But a

  498. woman who fears the Lord. So I think with this one,

  499. I mean as far as word, the woman who fears

  500. the Lord is to be will be greatly praised. This

  501. one is just I think, fear the Lord, or faithful,

  502. faithful to the Lord, faith with her husband. But hey,

  503. because just because of time, I want to throw one

  504. more thing out since I'm the guest Bible bye, I

  505. was thinking about this, Yes, yes, yes, you know one

  506. thing I'll to throw on. I don't know. I don't

  507. know if this is the same for you. I think

  508. when you and Liz met, you guys started dating pretty quickly, correct, right,

  509. dating pretty quickly, right right on you. You and I

  510. both got married at a young age, just twenty one

  511. years old. You were twenty or twenty twenty one, okay,

  512. both twenty one. And it's interesting because people will come

  513. to me sometimes because I've done young adult minister and

  514. still have the you know, privilege of being around a

  515. lot of young people, and they asked me my thoughts

  516. on getting married.

  517. Go ahead say it. You're still in your thirties.

  518. I'm in my fall, dude, I'm pushing. I'm pushing forty, bro.

  519. But so know what I would say is, uh, sometimes

  520. people ask me that, And even though I got married

  521. young twenty one, I don't always. I don't think it's

  522. a one size fits all thing where it's like, oh,

  523. you for sure should look out. It's worked out for me,

  524. you know that sort of thing. I think, at the

  525. end of the day, one thing that helped me a ton,

  526. And I'll give this advice really to anybody, is I

  527. think it's really wise to be friends with somebody, like

  528. to really get to know somebody, really get to be

  529. before you make that lifelong commitment, to actually see them

  530. in the good and the bad. And one thing that

  531. happened with me and Kristen when I met her, she

  532. put me in the friend zone for like the first year.

  533. Like I didn't want anybody to know this, but I

  534. liked her for sure, but I'm sure I didn't. It

  535. wasn't as cool as I thought. I was about holding

  536. it down, but I was in the friend zone. And

  537. so I got to see her, you know, in restaurants

  538. where she wasn't trying to win me over, and the

  539. way she talked to servers, right. I got to see

  540. her in situations where she was stressed or when you know,

  541. school was hectic and whatever, and it wasn't like she

  542. was on a date with me trying to put her

  543. best self forward and vice versa. Like she really got

  544. to see me in all circumstances with my family, with

  545. my friends, with her family, with her friends, And I

  546. think it actually helped a lot to really make this

  547. lifelong decision to commit to this partner right, And I

  548. think in this day and age, one thing I I

  549. would advise against. Although I think dating apps can be

  550. great in a lot of ways. I'm sure you've done

  551. a bunch of weddings. I know I have where people

  552. have that on dating apps. I think it's a great

  553. thing because I think in many ways you're cutting to

  554. the chase. Right. It can be, But at the same time,

  555. I think the one negative would be that oftentimes you

  556. meet people who when they go out on that first

  557. date and it's a dating app. The whole point here

  558. is Christians meeting each other to find their special one

  559. is they almost put on a front sometimes and they

  560. kind of put up this picture of who they want

  561. the other person to believe that they are, which may

  562. not be accurate. And so I would just encourage people

  563. to like, really get to know the person that you

  564. are dating, really take your time, and really make sure

  565. that this is like when you read a verse like this,

  566. like proverse thirty one, does that describe this person? And

  567. then I'd say, for ladies in the same way, is

  568. this the type of person you strive to be in

  569. the type of husband who can match that and can

  570. really compliment you in that. So reading this, I was

  571. just thinking about a lot of people I know who

  572. are in that single phase trying to figure out their

  573. next step.

  574. Yeah, well that's great. In fact, that's our time. That's

  575. a great closing thought, and what a great chapter honestly,

  576. right now, thanks for having me, buddy, thanks for being here,

  577. and we'll join you next time, hopefully with a brand

  578. new guest. That's on the Bible.

  579. Guys,
