  1. You're listening to The Bible Guys, a podcast where a

  2. couple of friends talk about the Bible in fun, in

  3. practical ways. Hey, everybody, welcome to the Bible Guys.

  4. I am Chris and I am Kyle.

  5. Are you happy to be here?

  6. I'm so happy to you?

  7. Are you? Yeah?

  8. I do.

  9. This is great good.

  10. I feel like I'm learning. Whenever I'm on these things,

  11. I'm learning. And it's obviously great to learn from you

  12. and learn from Jeff. And I know that this is

  13. a podcast a lot of people listen to, so that's great.

  14. Yeah, yeah, it's fun to be part of. Very humbling

  15. and appreciate all of our listeners, especially the faithful ones.

  16. And so Jeff is out of the country this week,

  17. and so today we are the Bible Guys, and this

  18. is Kyle. You always said your name right, yeah, and sorry,

  19. that's all good. And we're in a series talking about

  20. the famous sayings of Jesus and this week has a theme,

  21. and the theme is Jesus and the Outsiders, which of

  22. course I love. That's sort of my movie, by the way,

  23. The Tiders. Oh yeah, it's great.

  24. I watch that when I was like in middle school,

  25. and I remember learning because at the time than when

  26. the movie had come out and when we read the book.

  27. Then I watched a movie and I realized all those

  28. actors were like famous, like they're making great films at

  29. the time. It's kind of funny, you know, all the different.

  30. Actually, that's that's the breakout role for a lot of them.

  31. Yeah, that was awesome.

  32. That was one. I think that was Tom Cruise's first.

  33. Yeah, Patrick Swayze.

  34. Patrick Swayey Swayze, Matt Damon, got Matt Damont, med Dylan,

  35. Matt Dylan, the Karate Kid. Yeah, yeah, Ralph Macchio, it

  36. was a couple.

  37. Of couple of the ladies event Oh yeah, Fameilia yep. Yeah,

  38. I mean before Mighty Ducks and all that. Yeah, it's

  39. pretty awesome.

  40. Yeah, there was a lot of them in there. Yeah.

  41. There's been people I've talked to over the years who've

  42. like never like read the book, didn't know about the movie,

  43. and they're like, like you show them with just that

  44. cover and they're like, those people were in that movie. Yes, Yes,

  45. it's like an A list actors.

  46. And that was also the breakout role for Diane.

  47. Lane, Yeah, who played Yeah, yep, yep, Yeah, that's awesome.

  48. So anyway, hey, enough about that. We want to start

  49. out with a segment called the anti bucket list. I

  50. think I've only done this one time.

  51. Okay.

  52. Uh so it says this, instead of naming the things

  53. that you want to do, name a couple of things

  54. that you hope to know ever have to.

  55. Do again, things you hope to never have to do again.

  56. Yeah, so you did it. You're thinking yourself, never again.

  57. Yeah, I would say an easy one. This is not

  58. a trip. This is like I might have some trips

  59. I wish I could never do again, or places i've been,

  60. but I would never want to have the flu again.

  61. I know that's impossible to say that, but wait a minute, dude,

  62. come onbod he chooses to get the flu at first. True.

  63. I guess it's not a bucket list, no, but that's

  64. something that's it.

  65. I never like some of the ti bucket list. I

  66. don't want to die, Okay, I don't want to have cancer.

  67. I don't want my kids to get kid.

  68. When I think of something I don't ever want to do,

  69. I guess that's maybe it. Maybe I was just thinking

  70. I never want to do that. I can't do this

  71. bucket list. Is this is something I really want to do.

  72. This is something I never want to do.

  73. About and experience that you've chosen to do in the

  74. past within your control that you want to you will

  75. never choose to do again.

  76. Okay, man, that's tough. Okay, fine with that in mind. Yes,

  77. I would say last year, although I would love to

  78. go to Africa again or travel far, sitting in an

  79. airplane for twenty hours may not be for me.

  80. Okay, I don't think.

  81. I don't think I'm built for this.

  82. Yeah, and so I would I would probably say, and

  83. I am almost embarrassed to say this, but there are

  84. some kind well you know what, I'm not going to

  85. name the country. There are some countries that I've been

  86. to that I would choose not to go back to.

  87. You know, I'm gonna choose a safe country. Yeah. Yeah,

  88. I will never go back to South Sudan again. Oh

  89. why Because I didn't realize when I was there how

  90. unsafe it was interesting, and so it's like it's almost

  91. like Haiti now, it's like going to Haiti. Now there's

  92. a good chance you won't come back. Yeah, right, because

  93. it's it's lawless. Right. That was South Sudan when I

  94. went there, and so I didn't realize how unsafe it

  95. was until there was like life threatening things that happened,

  96. and I thought to myself, I can't believe I went yeah.

  97. I was ignorant when I went yeah, so how about that.

  98. Okay, I'll throw another one out then. Okay, I've never

  99. done this yet, but it's something I avoid just for

  100. some random reason. But I would not go on a

  101. carnival cruise. Here's why did you ever hear about the

  102. poop Cruise? Is a documentary about it on Netflix? Nope,

  103. it's about the cruise. We probably heard about it like

  104. five ten years five ten years ago where they had

  105. like a fire happened in the engine. All of a sudden,

  106. they the boat is out in the middle of the ocean,

  107. and then all of a sudden, the sewage started rising

  108. up on the showers and people were like sleeping anywhere.

  109. It was like it was like the cruise from Hell,

  110. and it happened to be carnival cruise. And I know

  111. it won't happen, but one I go on, but just

  112. purely out of like I won't do it. Yeah, I

  113. never heard of it. Yeah, you gotta look at it's

  114. good documentary. The poop cruise is what they call it.

  115. Okay, all right, how about this? Before you said that,

  116. before you said that, I had a really good thought cruise?

  117. Oh what was it? And I thought to myself, I'll

  118. never do that again. I literally can't believe that I

  119. had a really good addition to this. No, no, no, you

  120. you threw me off with. I was so fascinated with your.

  121. Heart, with your just send you the link, you know,

  122. want just documentary.

  123. It's like, but I, what did I do that recently

  124. that I thought to myself, I'll never ever do that again.

  125. Oh I know what, I know what I thought of?

  126. I get motion insigma. So I was actually on a

  127. thing called the spider.

  128. Oh okay, right, and.

  129. There's a I got a ride at the at the

  130. at the fair or or even Cedar Point. Now it's

  131. still there where the thing literally the whole thing turns

  132. and then the arms go up and down on the

  133. spider arms, so you were going up and down while

  134. you're turning. And then there's a like a spinner where

  135. there's like four four like like buckets, four buckets. That

  136. thing spins and then your bucket spins.

  137. Oh my goodness, not good.

  138. So your bucket is spinning motion while you're while you're

  139. spinning as four things while you're going up and down

  140. while the whole thing's spinning. And so when I tried that,

  141. I got so emotion in thickness and I thought to myself,

  142. I will never do that again.

  143. That's terrible. Yeah, that's terrible. Keep you on sky diving.

  144. Before I went three times, I think I would do

  145. that again. Although the last time that I went. Do

  146. you know that. The first time I went, it was

  147. just epic. The second time I went it was still

  148. pretty great. And the third time I went, I literally

  149. had this thought, this is how, you know, like I'm

  150. over things pretty quickly. I literally jump out of the

  151. plane and as I'm jumping out of the plane, it

  152. was super cold. I was sort of miserable, and I

  153. actually thought to myself, I think this is the least

  154. time I'll do this.

  155. Wow.

  156. As I'm falling, and I thought to myself, yeah, I

  157. think I'm done. Like it's sort of lost its luster

  158. for me.

  159. Yeah, that's not worth anymore.

  160. That's fair. That was incredibly I have not gone.

  161. That's what I was curious to see. Because you've done

  162. it a few times. I didn't know if you would

  163. say the same.

  164. That that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I would never

  165. do it. I would never do it where I'm controlling it.

  166. I would never do that. That That freaks me out so.

  167. Bad, gotcha, gotcha.

  168. But I jumped tandem where somebody is in control of it. Yeah,

  169. I'm fine with that, but I would never do it

  170. by myself ever.

  171. All right, I'll end one. This one's for Jeff. Okay.

  172. I will never visits Ohio for the rest of my life.

  173. I'm done.

  174. I'm done with the state of One's not true. Unfortunately,

  175. after I'm not vacationing in Ohio.

  176. Okay, all right, well, hey, that's that could be true. Yeah,

  177. you could consciously say that.

  178. That's for Jeff wherever you're at, Jeff.

  179. Okay, very good. Well, Hey you know I'm from Ohio, right,

  180. I know? I okay? Okay, Yes, Well, hey, that was

  181. a great segment. And so we are going to be

  182. caught talking about the famous saying that Jesus said, and

  183. he said her many sins have been invented. Yes, and

  184. this once again is all about the outsiders. Yeah. Man,

  185. this is a woman who is notoriously known to be

  186. a sinner.

  187. Yeah, so Luke seven is where we're going to be

  188. picking up today, and we're both actually, yeah, you're reading

  189. out of the NLT I'm reading out of the NLT so,

  190. and starting in verse thirty six, it says this, one

  191. of the pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him.

  192. So Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat.

  193. When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he

  194. was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled

  195. with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping.

  196. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them

  197. off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet

  198. and putting perfume on them. When the pharisee who had

  199. invited him saw this, he said to himself, if this

  200. man were a prophet, he would know what kind of

  201. a woman is touching him. She's a sinner. Then Jesus

  202. answered his thoughts Simon. He said to the pharisee, I

  203. have something to say to you. Go ahead, teacher, Simon replied.

  204. Then Jesus told them this story. A loaned money to

  205. two people, five hundred pieces of silver to one and

  206. fifty pieces to the other, but neither of them could

  207. repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts.

  208. Who do you suppose loved him more than that? Simon answered,

  209. I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.

  210. That's right, Jesus said. Then he turned to the woman

  211. and said to Simon, look at this woman kneeling here.

  212. When I entered your home, you didn't offer me water

  213. to wash the dust from my feet, but she has

  214. washed them with her tears and wiped them with their hair.

  215. You didn't greet me with a kiss, but from the

  216. time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing

  217. my feet. You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to

  218. anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with

  219. rare perfume. I tell you her sins, and yes there

  220. are many, have been forgiven. So she has shown me

  221. much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows

  222. only a little love. Then Jesus said to the woman,

  223. your sins are forgiven. The men at the table said

  224. among themselves, who is this man that he goes around

  225. forgiving sins? And Jesus said to the woman your faith

  226. has saved you go in peace. I love this. It's

  227. honestly very similar to what we read on Monday, a

  228. little bit of the where he came to the defense

  229. of the woman, you know, just the whole the men

  230. at the table adultry. Yeah, yeah, sorry, yeh could woman

  231. caught an adultrey and you have these men at the table,

  232. and who is this man forgiving sins?

  233. Like?

  234. What is it like? It's it's very very similar.

  235. Yeah, it is similar in that Jesus is forgiving a

  236. woman who is known to have a sinned and she's

  237. being judged by the people around them, right, and Jesus

  238. forgives her. So that part is and is almost sort

  239. of like almost lident, right, But the circumstances in which

  240. this happens are are different. And then also Jesus decides

  241. to teach, whereas before he knew that their motivation and

  242. the woman caught in adultrey was to trapp him. Yeah,

  243. in this particular case, they were judging her for different reasons.

  244. They were actually judging her actual actions. Like for instance,

  245. they thought to themselves, this woman has wasted this money

  246. and she could have sold it for the poor. Now

  247. does it say it in this one, it doesn't does, see, no,

  248. does it. But in another one of the Gospels it

  249. actually talks about this story, and it gives us a

  250. little bit more insight from one of the other writers,

  251. where I think it might have been Judas who said,

  252. look at this woman. She has broken out this alabaster

  253. jar of perfume. And she could have sold all this

  254. money and given it to the poor, but she's wasted

  255. it here, right, And so let's talk about that for seconds,

  256. since I've already brought it up. So in alabaster is

  257. a mineral. It's like a rock, but it's a beautiful

  258. white rock. And so this alabaster jar in itself would

  259. have been expensive and it would have been beautiful. So

  260. it is something of prominence, something that is designed for,

  261. you know, obviously somebody who's important. And then then this

  262. alabaster jar of perfume. Uh, this this this, oh, g

  263. whizz the oil? Yeah, the oil it was Uh, there's

  264. a name for it. I can't believe I'm forgetting it.

  265. What was in the alabaster jar? What kind was it? Murr?

  266. Was it murrh? No? It was called something. You want

  267. to look it up?

  268. Yeah, let me see you look it up. Okay, keep going,

  269. keep going anyway.

  270. So it was very expensive, and in most scholars believe

  271. that it would have been a year's salary. Imagine that,

  272. so you know, imagine everything you make a year, right,

  273. all that, all those hundreds of millions of dollars that

  274. you make a year, right, and so you know, your

  275. entire year's salary represented in this jar. And so people

  276. even today would say, what a waste. And yet she

  277. is expressing everything that she has. That's like an offering.

  278. So she's giving it to God himself, and she's pouring

  279. it out, annoying his feet with oil. And what she's

  280. really doing is as a describing worth to him, and

  281. she's giving him this offering of you know, quite possibly

  282. it doesn't say so quite quite possibly everything that she has.

  283. The other scholars say that perhaps she's a prostitute.

  284. Sorry yard.

  285. It's a very thick, uh almost like a molasses type perfume,

  286. and so it's very concentrated and so Nard could be

  287. actually be uh you know, diluted and spread throughout. And

  288. so this this Nard is very very very expensive. And

  289. so anyway, I knew, I knew it had a name.

  290. And anyway, the point is is that you know, this

  291. woman is uh notoriously known as a sinner, and yet

  292. Jesus decides to teach and he didn't do that elsewhere.

  293. And what he's trying to do is he's trying to

  294. actually teach them about her heart and about God's position

  295. uh to to his forgiveness to her right because because

  296. it's unlike the adulterous woman that we read on Monday,

  297. because that again had no basis of justice, that was

  298. just them using this woman as a you knows, as

  299. a means.

  300. Tool to their own agenda. Essentially, don't put him to

  301. trap him.

  302. But this one has legitimate repentance involved. Jesus is recognizing

  303. all the good they're not. And all they think to

  304. themselves is why has she come in here? And why

  305. is this sinful woman allowed to touch a rabbi? Because remember,

  306. culturally he would have been unclean, yes, right, he would

  307. have had to be unclean and go wash, yes, to

  308. be even touched by a woman like this.

  309. The thing I found interesting too is a couple of things.

  310. One is I like that it says that Jesus says,

  311. then Jesus answered his thoughts, so he hurt all of

  312. that like Jesus literally.

  313. And again, these are the Jesus powers that Jeff and

  314. I were talking to. Yeah, he get into this big thing,

  315. big debate, and he goes, oh no, he goes, we

  316. could Jesus didn't have any special Jesus powers. Besides what

  317. the Holy Spirit can get to us? Right? Well, I

  318. don't know about you, but I don't.

  319. I mean, right here, Jesus answered his thoughts. I can't

  320. do that.

  321. Yeah, Jesus answered his thoughts.

  322. So he's sitting there in his mind silence.

  323. Hey, for all of our listeners, remember when Jeff was

  324. gloating the other week, Yeah, about saying, like, hey, there's

  325. proof that Jesus didn't have any powers. Besides, and I

  326. use the word power's tongue in cheek, right, but I said,

  327. there's so many examples, partures where Jesus has has abilities

  328. that are beyond just the normal human being. Because I

  329. know he's a hundredercent manah, I mean obviously he's an

  330. undrescent man. I also know that he's suppressed many attributes

  331. of his deity, right, and all of that's really clear, right,

  332. But at the same time he made the comment and said,

  333. I'm doing these things so that people would know I'm

  334. the Messiah. So there has to be some things that

  335. Jesus reserves to go above and beyond to prove his

  336. messiah ship. That was my only point, right, So if

  337. Jesus answers this thought, then that would then the chef's theory. Yeah,

  338. then that means that you and I would have the

  339. ability to the power of Holy spirit minds. You know,

  340. I'm gonna put myself in Jeff's shoes right now. He

  341. would say, Yes, Chris, that's called discernment.

  342. Yeah, that's what it is, that spiritual gift, the discernment.

  343. Yeahah yeah, yeah, it could be.

  344. But that still doesn't know.

  345. But this is literally, like he said, he read his

  346. thoughts and then responded to his very thoughts of this

  347. person being you know what, I'm.

  348. Going to concede on this. Maybe maybe maybe God could

  349. give us discernment beyond our ability.

  350. It could be that. All right, let's move on so

  351. that Jeff doesn't get a bile. Sorry, but I was

  352. gonna say. So that stood out to me is that

  353. he he heard his thoughts and responded to it. But

  354. then also, it's so interesting because we see in these

  355. stories you have these pharisees constantly trying to like one

  356. up these common folk, these people that they saw, and

  357. it was this and it was cool. It's cool how

  358. Jesus points out the fact that the pharisee actually overlooked

  359. several things that he should have done correctly, like the

  360. way the way this woman greeted him and took care

  361. of him as a guest. You talk about the ceremonial cleaning,

  362. There's so many things that was that were already overlooked.

  363. And it was interesting because Jesus calls him out on

  364. it is like, look what she did, but look what

  365. you didn't do. Look what she's done, but look what

  366. you haven't done. And it was probably a very humiliating

  367. thing for somebody like him, this dispharisee who thought he

  368. was something special. He didn't treat Jesus like a special guest,

  369. since she's kind of treating him like an average Joe.

  370. Then this woman comes along, He's like, how could this man?

  371. How could he do this? Does he not know that

  372. she's this this sinner? Like how could she be associated with?

  373. How could he be associated with this person? I love

  374. it because Jesus like, hey, just you know, you know

  375. you have your flaws too, bro, Like, I love that

  376. kind of put him in his place.

  377. Yeah, and so let me let me address the fact

  378. that this lesson, right, we talked about the lesson is

  379. the distinctive part. And he says, a man loan money

  380. to two people five hundred pieces of silver into one

  381. fifty pieces, but either the coup play him, so you

  382. kind of forgive them both canceling their debts. Who do

  383. you suppose loved him more? After that? And then they said,

  384. I suppose the one whom he canceled a larger debt.

  385. He said, yeah, that's right. And then he said to

  386. the woman, you know, and then she's talking. She's talking

  387. about the fact that she's more of a her, she's

  388. done more notorious things than the people perhaps in the room,

  389. and yet she's forgiven more, and so she's she's thankful more.

  390. Right.

  391. Well, let me let me just say this. There are

  392. people listening out there. Most most of everybody who listens

  393. to our podcast are Christians, right, I would say almost

  394. all right, because Christians want to grow and there may

  395. be some people who might be inquisitive or listening. And

  396. and by the way, if you are, you know the

  397. plan of salvation is by faith, not by not by deeds.

  398. So anyway, my point is this is that my wife,

  399. her story of salvation is simply this. She's like, well,

  400. when I was five years old, I received Christ. I

  401. never did anything wrong before then, really, and then my

  402. parents were Christians, and I grew up in a great household.

  403. The end, that's her, that's her big, huge story. And

  404. then there then she married somebody like me who God

  405. saves me from, you know, you know, being in juvenile

  406. a couple of times, you know, all these different things

  407. where look at that that beated and looked, huh okay,

  408. there we go. So God saves me from from this

  409. notorious lifestyle. And there are people who would say, man,

  410. I don't have a story like that, yeah, right, Like

  411. like my story is sort of like Liz's story. It's like,

  412. you know, I don't have this, you know, ray big story.

  413. God didn't save me from five hundred pieces of silver

  414. because I didn't have that big of a dace, right,

  415. God only forgave me I have fifty pieces of sober,

  416. or technically like Liz, two pieces of sober. Right, Here's

  417. what I would say, and this is this is this

  418. is a very strong truth. Every listener is the five

  419. hundred pieces of silver, because we all deserve hell. So

  420. one sinner, one sin makes you sinner, right, and therefore

  421. one sin separates you from God. Every single one of

  422. us are in the same vote. If you've been rescued

  423. from Hell, then you are the person with five hundred

  424. pieces of silver being forgiven.

  425. Yeah, paid the price for yep.

  426. Right, So let's not let's not forget that. So now

  427. Jesus obviously is referring to the sins that she's doing

  428. in culture, in society, which are greater, right, But let's

  429. not forget the fact that if you have a Liz

  430. type story, that you can be as grateful as this

  431. woman because all of us have been rescued from Hell. Yeah,

  432. and if heaven is the only thing that we get

  433. by accepting Christ, it will have been more than worth it.

  434. Yeah right.

  435. I think what he's doing there too, is he's kind

  436. of challenging the thinking of the Pharisees who thought that

  437. this woman was too far gone, And.

  438. It's exactly right, I think.

  439. Like so for me, I have a cousin of mine who,

  440. when he was growing up was man like a hellion

  441. like in the area like just the type of person

  442. who I would always try to be a good example

  443. to him is a few years not going to be.

  444. I always try to talk to him about Jesus. But

  445. it was one of those things. You know, you ever

  446. meet those people who you're like, I wonder if they'll

  447. ever become a Chratian, Like I bet you all these

  448. people come, but I do wonder if he'll ever become

  449. like you know those people. Yeah, That's that's what he

  450. was like in my life, like just somebody who I

  451. was like, Man, I'm gonna pray for him, I'm gonna

  452. try to guide him, but that is man, God has

  453. really got to do something with him. So sure enough,

  454. what ended up happening was he got into college, like

  455. after you graduated high school, and this was like addicted to it,

  456. to you know, drug addict. He in tons of debt

  457. early on in college, car accidents, all this stuff. Like

  458. just just I'm like, how is he still alive? Honestly,

  459. is like nineteen twenty years old. He becomes friends with

  460. somebody that I know, he starts attending our churches young

  461. adult ministry, and I found out a few months later,

  462. like he's been going and so I'm like, wait, my

  463. cousin's been going to this young adult ministry. So I

  464. go to meet up with him get lunch. I'm like, hey,

  465. I've been heard you've been going to church. I was like,

  466. what's what's And I'm thinking in my mind, I'm like

  467. it must be for some girls.

  468. He's trying to, you.

  469. Know, like there's there's got to be some sort of

  470. heard plenty of stories like that.

  471. Yeah.

  472. So then sure enough he's like he's like no, no, He's like, actually,

  473. I wait till like the service starts, and then I

  474. leave before it's over because I want my focus to

  475. be like intentionally on like God. And I was like,

  476. I'm like, who is this person? Like I'm already like

  477. my mind are you? My mind is blown?

  478. Right.

  479. Then a few weeks later, you know, he ends up

  480. joining a small group with some guys. He starts meeting

  481. some guys that they start telling me, oh, your cousin's amazing.

  482. I'm like, really, do we know the same person? Then

  483. a few if you want, after that, I'm over at

  484. his house. We're hanging out and he's like he's like

  485. showing me. He's like, oh, I've been reading these books.

  486. He shows me, he's reading not a fan. Remember that

  487. book by Kyle Edelman, The God. What was the one

  488. with Francis Chan that was really popular? I had, like

  489. the red Crazy Love. Yeah, he's reading that and he's

  490. telling me, he's like, you know the book Crazy Love.

  491. The thing I love about it is like when he's

  492. saying these things, I'm like, who are you Like? This

  493. was a person who I could have never imagined speaking

  494. in those terms or having a soft heart towards God,

  495. and then God just wrecked him. And I think when

  496. I read a story like this, it's a reminder that

  497. there are those people, and there's that God is working

  498. on those people that you think there's no chance that

  499. they'll ever come to know Jesus. And God is working

  500. on those people.

  501. Yeah. So a moment ago, I said that there could

  502. be people listening who aren't Christians, and probably most are.

  503. But if you're listening to the podcast because somebody sent

  504. this to you, just know this, You're not too far gone.

  505. Nobody is too far gone. In fact, no matter how

  506. far away that you feel from God, you are one

  507. step away. Yeah, and the one step away is a

  508. step of faith. And so you know the Bible says

  509. that we have to just realize that everybody's a sinner

  510. and that that sin separates us from God. And the

  511. Bible actually says that sin demands a price, and that

  512. price is death. Romans five says the payment of sin

  513. is death, but the free gift of God is eternal

  514. life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So the Bible talks

  515. about how good deeds aren't a way to get to heaven.

  516. Heaven is not a reward for good deeds. The only

  517. thing we have to do is not trust in ourselves

  518. to get to heaven, but trust in what was done

  519. for us already in the cross of Cavalry. So the

  520. Bible says, with childlike faith, we just pray and put

  521. our faith in trust. We confess believe, we have faith,

  522. and so we just say, God, come into my life.

  523. I trust you, I believe in you. I believe in

  524. your death, beryl and resurrection, and I'm gonna put you

  525. first in my life. I repent of my sins. I'm

  526. sorry of my sins. God, I'm asking you to save

  527. me and my soul. So a simple and by the way,

  528. there's not a formulated prayer. You just express that with

  529. any words that you want to with your heart and

  530. real that God saves sinners by faith, even those who

  531. are uneducated, who feel notorious, who feel far from God,

  532. and who have faith. So here's here's this woman, and

  533. she is, you know, pouring everything out. And Jesus is saying,

  534. this woman has done all the things that you should

  535. have done as Christian. And that's my favorite part, right

  536. because they're like, oh, she's this, you know, she she

  537. could have sold this for the poor, and I can't

  538. believe she's in here, and I can't believe she's doing this.

  539. She's she's making a disruption. And these people feel like

  540. they're superior. Yeah, like, doesn't it feel like entitled or superior?

  541. It doesn't say that, but it's sort of the posture,

  542. isn't it. And what Jesus is saying is is he's

  543. really saying you should have been more like her.

  544. Yeah she's chosen once better.

  545. Yeah, yeah, you should be more like her because you

  546. didn't do any of these things for me and she did.

  547. And then and then I love also the part at

  548. the very end where he says, your faith has saved

  549. you go and you go in peace, and really it's

  550. it's her repentance. It's her acknowledgement that he is Jesus,

  551. he is Lord. She is treating him like a king,

  552. only a spiritual king, and you know, recognizing his lordship.

  553. And he's saying, it is your faith that has saved you.

  554. And I love that he says that, because he says

  555. that in response to their rumblings, who is this man

  556. that he goes around forgiving sins? They're putting the pa

  557. they're putting the authority on him, which he does have authority,

  558. right yeah, but he's then announcing that it's actually her

  559. faith that has saved her. It's cool, right, yeah, And

  560. so it's it's really cool.

  561. Yeah. My only to find a takeaway I'd like to

  562. say too, is the story starts off with this Pharisee Simon.

  563. I would just say, don't be that guy. Right, as

  564. Christians here we are in twenty twenty five, don't be

  565. that guy. You know, we as we have a responsibility

  566. to still like to not just you know, like you're saying,

  567. have that posturing or pretending like you're something special or

  568. concan rink yourself above others. We should do exactly what

  569. Jesus did in this In this scenario.

  570. Yeah, that's great.

  571. Good.

  572. Well, hey that is our time, so thanks for joining

  573. us and hopefully we will see you next time on

  574. the Bible guys. See it h
