  1. You're listening to The Bible Guys, a podcast where a

  2. couple of friends talk about the Bible in fun, in

  3. practical ways.

  4. Good morning, it was coming.

  5. We talked the whole not through good morning. Good morning

  6. to you and you and you, Hey, good morning everybody.

  7. I'm Chris and I'm Jeff, and we are the Bible Guys.

  8. And today we are in the middle of a series

  9. about God's promises and right, yes, yes, I'm a big fan,

  10. big fan promises and how we can rely on them

  11. on different contexts. But before we dive into that, we

  12. have a segment today.

  13. Hot Takes.

  14. Hot Takes. Now we've only done this a few different times.

  15. Right, that's correct.

  16. And this Hot Takes, I haven't even actually I haven't

  17. even read it. I've not even read it.

  18. Oh, I have an opinion on the first one.

  19. This is me reading it for the first time, right now. Okay,

  20. So it says on Hot Takes, do you agree with

  21. this statement? And then it says defend your answer.

  22. So the first one is the middle seat on airplanes

  23. is actually the best?

  24. Who in their right mind I know that would say

  25. that that's actually the best.

  26. That is insane?

  27. So did you know that unfortunately. I hate to speak

  28. bad about my beloved Delta, but did you know I'm

  29. not I'm not a world class traveler like you. So

  30. you get like perks and benefits and stuff, but I'm

  31. in the low life. Okay, I am silver medallion, but

  32. all you have to do is show up to be silver.

  33. So yeah, no, no, no, you have to.

  34. You have to get a certain certain come on couple flights.

  35. Give me a little credit. But anyway, so I'm with

  36. the minions.

  37. I don't mean to break right, but anyway.

  38. The point is is that it used to be that

  39. you could choose your own seat for free, and that's

  40. one of the things I loved about Delta. Did you

  41. know they just recently changed that.

  42. Now you have to pay to choose.

  43. Well, unless I'm wrong, but you know, there's that whole

  44. like basic, you know, like you could choose the Basic,

  45. then you choose the you know. But anyway, so I

  46. always choose the cheapest, and usually unless I'm wrong. I

  47. could be wrong. I'm open to being wrong here, but

  48. I'm almost positive what I did was I chose the Basic,

  49. and then I realized later on that the only time

  50. I could choose my actual seat was I had to

  51. pay thirty something dollars, which.

  52. Is what were you trying to choose seats a little

  53. further up?

  54. No, there were basic seats, so they had to assign

  55. my seat for me, which is what Southwest does, right,

  56. and then Jet Blue and all those other horrible ones

  57. like that.

  58. Yea, so it can never book basic, pay the extra

  59. twenty bucks and book main cabin. Yeah that's well, those

  60. are the same seats, but you have way more selection.

  61. Well, anyway, I got stuck in the middle, okay, and

  62. it's a good thing. I've lost great like in row.

  63. Twenty five, I mean many how many hours?

  64. Oh it was only from Florida to here, so took.

  65. Two and a half. It's still a long time sitting

  66. in the middle seat.

  67. Yeah, but I'm smaller now. But here's the thing. The

  68. guy next to me was huge, but you know what,

  69. he was good though, Like you know, a lot of

  70. times people are big and then they sort of, you know,

  71. like they go over the vager side, they take over.

  72. This guy was really good, so he knew he was

  73. very very big. I mean I'm talking like six foot

  74. four and he must have been two sixty. But he

  75. wasn't like he was in shape. He was thick, like

  76. like an athlete, right, so I was I was actually

  77. looking at him like, wow, this guy can He's got

  78. to play ball or something, right, But anyway, this guy

  79. was very large. And then but then I had the

  80. sweet old lady next to me. But here I'm in

  81. the middle, and I'm watching my elbows right, and I'm

  82. just sitting there the whole time, And I thought to myself,

  83. the middle seat is the worst. How could anybody defend him?

  84. I hate the middle seat. Now, you know, I do

  85. have a friend, We have a mutual friend. You know

  86. him too. He's from the Middle East. He's not a

  87. big guy. He's pretty small, and he doesn't care. So

  88. if I go, oh no, I've got a middle seat,

  89. I'm gonna do everything I can do to get out

  90. of that middle seat. You know, pay an upgrade if

  91. I have to, whatevers. And I'd like, oh, I don't care.

  92. He can get his he can get his knees up

  93. on his seat, go to sleep. You know, he's just

  94. a little guy and so he doesn't care at all.

  95. But I hate it, just absolutely hate it. I got

  96. stuck on an eight and a half hour flight in

  97. the middle seat because we had a last last minute

  98. change and it was my only way. So I hate it.

  99. So this is a dumb question. There's nobody who believes,

  100. come on, it's actually the best. Come on, it's not.

  101. Nobody needs it's the best seat.

  102. So you name me one example. Try to find me

  103. one example why it's the best. You know what? Okay, hey,

  104. how about this one. If you're with your family.

  105. And your wife wants to sit next to you, your

  106. kid wants to sit next to you.

  107. Yeah, and you want to be in between either because

  108. you want to separate them.

  109. Yeah, I never want to be in between, or you

  110. want to talk to them. I don't want to sit

  111. in the middle. Okay, I don't want to talk to

  112. anybody on a plane. Your plugs, put my headphones in,

  113. don't talk to me.

  114. Yeah. Well, I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think

  115. of a single good reason.

  116. Here's the next one. Boneless wings are just nuggets and

  117. should be labeled that way.

  118. I think I absolutely agree.

  119. One hundred percent. Yeah, I'm always disappointed by boneless wings.

  120. Yeah, and the breading is different, I know, I know.

  121. They might as well just be like banquet nuggets. Remember

  122. banquet yeah, right, that's what they should be. Boneless wings

  123. are fraudulent.

  124. Yeah, I agree, And I think that like when I

  125. go to a place and they ask me between the two.

  126. If if for some reason I do boneless, which every

  127. once in a while i'll do it, I'm always regretting it.

  128. There was a lawsuit about it a guy. A guy

  129. sued over false advertising because they there is no wing

  130. meat in them. It's all breast meat. Oh so they're

  131. not wings.

  132. Right, and just looking for a quick wit.

  133. Yeah, and that the court said it's a commonly known thing,

  134. that it's just a marketing thing, and so they didn't

  135. they didn't side with him. Yeah, but I agreed with him.

  136. He's right, it's fraudulent. They're not wings. It's fraudulent. It

  137. is man.

  138. Yeah, you're right though, they are definitely not wings.

  139. But what I've also eaten my body's weight in them,

  140. So does it stop me from meeting them. I'm just

  141. saying they're not wings, they're chicken nuggets.

  142. But yeah, Hey, by the way, let's let's take just

  143. a moment. Since that was a quick segment. I'll take

  144. just a moment, because, after all, there are plenty of

  145. listeners who are not living in Michigan, right, Okay, Yes,

  146. however probably I would say the majority of our listeners

  147. are in Michigan.

  148. Go Lions, Go Lions.

  149. Okay, So take just a second, and because I know

  150. you are a food connoisseur, especially with carne.

  151. Meat meat, yes, meat, yes.

  152. So uh, tell everybody, what is your favorite wing place

  153. or one of them?

  154. Really?

  155. Is that? Okay? Yeah?

  156. Yeah, yeah, Well what's your favorite wing place?

  157. It's that place that you took me to.

  158. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. What is the name wing Stops?

  159. Oh no, there was another one. It was a different name,

  160. but yeah, wingstop is good. Wing snobs, wing snobs. Yes,

  161. they're the best ones. Yes, yes, I like them.

  162. It was you took me there and I and you said, oh,

  163. these are these are leaders. Live up to their name.

  164. They're wing snop And I was like, okay, listen, I'm

  165. not a big wing guy like wings are. Okay, And

  166. I went there and ate them, and I actually thought

  167. to myself, these are a cut above the rest.

  168. Yeah, they were really good. Yeah, and there's a few

  169. of them around here too. There's not one rate near

  170. my house. So I'm praying that the Lord will go

  171. before me.

  172. Yes, provide before and behind me, go to wings now

  173. right next to me.

  174. Yeah, it's weird. You know where we live For our

  175. listeners who don't know, we live in a suburban metropolitan

  176. area outside of Detroit, and it's mostly all like engineers

  177. and people involved somehow in the automotive supply industries and engineering.

  178. It's just thousands and thousands of engineers for General Motives

  179. and Chrysler, and so there's not a lot of industry

  180. in our communities. They're all just giant bedroom communities. It's

  181. just subdivision after subdivision and stores and restaurants. Right, it's great.

  182. So we have every restaurant and the planet within like

  183. two and a half miles of my house right right,

  184. And it's crazy. Have you ever noticed you go, hey,

  185. let's go out tonight. Okay, where should we go? Oh?

  186. I don't know, And you can't think of where to go.

  187. There's so many options there. So you know, when I

  188. was growing up in LaPier, there were like three options

  189. right right right? Do you we want pizza? Do we

  190. want chicken? Do we want burgers? That's basically and then

  191. there was the expensive steakhouse, but that was it.

  192. Whenever we go to La City, campus. There's that one restaurant,

  193. what is Lucky's. Yeah, it's like, hey, where youre gonna go?

  194. It's like, want to go to Luckies?

  195. Yeah, yeah, exactly, So that's that's how it is. But

  196. but where it's just all restaurants.

  197. But they have a new burger place that's pretty darn good.

  198. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, they really do. They are good.

  199. By the way, Uh you said Chrysler and GM that

  200. you excluded what Ford.

  201. We don't have a lot of Ford engineers where we live.

  202. They're over on the other side of town. Okay, there's

  203. no Ford complexes right here for engineering.

  204. Okay, Well, I just didn't want for people to feel

  205. left out.

  206. Well, we don't care about Ford.

  207. Stop it, yeah, stop it. You're wearing a Lion's jersey though, Yeah.

  208. And I know, and they should sell the company, sell the.

  209. Time, I definitely agree with.

  210. Okay, when you get a sixty year run of not winning,

  211. maybe you should hand it off. Yeah, but hey, but

  212. look at they sell it for a crazy probu.

  213. How do you like me now?

  214. Yeah? Yeah, they're playing well right now. Yeah, it's not

  215. the Fords that did it, though, Let's.

  216. Talk with that.

  217. Let's be clear. So, hey, Anyways, now that we're in

  218. nine minutes and we wasted a bunch of time, listeners like,

  219. what are you talking about? I tuned in for devotions.

  220. All right, let's take twenty minutes and really jump into.

  221. Well, I'll tell you what I was devoted to those

  222. hots takes and especially so now it's time for devotions.

  223. Okay. So we are in Matthew chapter twenty eight. We're

  224. talking about the promises of God, and particularly this week,

  225. we're focusing on the presence of God in our life.

  226. And so at the resurrection, the Bible says the women

  227. in verse eight of chapter twenty eight of the Book

  228. of Matthew. The women ran quickly from the tomb, and

  229. they were very frightened, but also filled with great joy.

  230. And they rushed to give the disciples the angel message

  231. the he's not here, he's risen. And as they went,

  232. Jesus met them and greeted them, and they ran to

  233. him and grasped his feet and worshiped him. And then

  234. Jesus said to him, said to them, don't be afraid.

  235. Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they'll

  236. see me there. As the women were on their way,

  237. some of the guards went into the city and told

  238. the leading priests what had happened. Meeting with the elders.

  239. A meeting with the elders was called, and they decided

  240. to give the soldiers a large bribe. And they told

  241. the soldiers, you must say, jesus disciples came during the

  242. night while we were sleeping, and they stole his body.

  243. If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up for you,

  244. so you won't get in trouble. So the guards accepted

  245. the bribe and said that they what they were told

  246. to say, and their story spread widely among the Jews,

  247. and they still tell it today. Then the eleven disciples

  248. left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had

  249. told him to go, and when they saw him, they

  250. worshiped him, but some of them doubted, And Jesus came

  251. and told his disciples, I have been given all authority

  252. in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples

  253. of all the newsations, baptizing them in the name of

  254. the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And

  255. teach these new disciples to obey all the commands that

  256. I've given you. And be sure this I am with

  257. you always even to the end of the age. So

  258. we're talking about the promises of God and Jesus is

  259. promising to be with us always.

  260. Yeah, even to the end of the age.

  261. Yeah. Now there's a forty day gap, just so our

  262. listeners understand, there's a forty day gap between verse fifteen

  263. and verse sixteen, right, forty days.

  264. Yeah, and the other gospels talk about.

  265. Yeah, fill in all the other details on that.

  266. Yeah. Yeah. So Jesus is once again where I should say,

  267. you know, once again the promise is being reminded to

  268. you and me. But in this context, Jesus is saying,

  269. I am with you always, I will never leave you,

  270. I'll their forsake you. Those commandments go hand in hand

  271. even to the edge end of the age. And the

  272. context for this promise, because remember, on Monday, the context

  273. was God will never fail you, He'll never abandon you,

  274. and it was with the context of being content with

  275. what you had. And then yesterday it was the exact

  276. same promise, He'll never leave you, He'll never fail you,

  277. but it was in the context of God going before

  278. you and being strong and being courageous and in your

  279. battles and never doubting because after all, that was sort

  280. of why he said it three times.

  281. And choosing to love God, obey God, yes, and he'll

  282. give you life. Yes, yes.

  283. And this is the same promise that God is with

  284. us and he'll never leave us. Only this is the

  285. context of the Great Commission. And the Great commission is

  286. the mission that God sends his entire church on. So

  287. when he sends the church in motion, you know he

  288. actually you know, it's really a movement of his people,

  289. if his believers, of his followers, and he gives a

  290. commission of them and says, your job is to go

  291. and tell everybody you can about and about my story,

  292. about my resurrection, and teach them to obey and and

  293. disciple them, baptize them, can you know, make believers of

  294. them and then do this and remember I'll be with

  295. you the whole time. Meaning, uh, we know now of

  296. course it's going to be challenging. It's not going to

  297. be easy at times. It's going to be daunting. Uh

  298. for a lot of the disciples. It's going to cost

  299. you your lives, right for most of them, right and uh,

  300. and it's and it's you're going to be persecuted. You know,

  301. it's going to be tough, and so that applies to

  302. us today. Outside of maybe it costing our lives, most

  303. of us won't have to pay with our life. But

  304. it may cost you your job, it may cost you

  305. your reputation. It makes it to stand up for what

  306. is right, to to tell people about Jesus, to never

  307. back down. It may cost you, like a moment where

  308. people may poke fun at you or maybe you know,

  309. roll their eyes at you. Right, it may cost you

  310. something like that, But it's going to cost you something.

  311. But just know that God is with you when you

  312. take your stand, when you're on mission, when you tell

  313. people about him, He'll never leave you.

  314. Yeah. So when Jesus paid the price on the cross,

  315. he took the punishment for our sin, and he paid

  316. the price. He took the punishment in his body. That's

  317. what the bread represents it communion. He paid the price

  318. for our sin with his blood. Without the shedding of blood,

  319. there's no forgiveness of sins, the Bible says. So he

  320. deals with both of those. But it was his resurrection,

  321. the power of his resurrection that gives you and me

  322. life right. And it's also in that time that the

  323. Bible talks about how Jesus holds the keys, right, and

  324. so he has all the power. When he resurrected, that

  325. demonstrated that he had defeated death and hell and sin

  326. and the grave and all the consequences of that. And

  327. so while Satan still has power, Satan will never win. Right.

  328. He might win a battle, but he's never going to

  329. win this war. He's already been defeated. The only reason

  330. why he has not been totally vanquished yet is God

  331. is letting time play out. As Peter tells us, that

  332. God's not being slack or lazy. Instead, he's being patient, right,

  333. not willing that any would perish, but that all would

  334. come to penance. So God's allowing time to play out

  335. because there's still more people that need to come to him. Right,

  336. But Jesus has all the power, He has all the authority.

  337. The Bible says that God has given Jesus the name

  338. above every name, and that at the name of Jesus,

  339. every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that

  340. he is lord. The Bible says that he's the King

  341. of kings and the Lord of lords. Right, he is

  342. the pinnacle of everything that exists in all of creation,

  343. inside and outside, above and below, you know, as the

  344. Book of Roman says. And it's that authority. He says,

  345. I've been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

  346. It's that power. He holds the keys to heaven, he

  347. holds the keys to hell. He has defeated Satan and death.

  348. He's defeated everything. He's vanquished sin, and he has the

  349. ultimate resolution of it. And he says, so, now, since

  350. I have all the authority on heaven and earth, therefore,

  351. and you were taught whenever therefore is there you have

  352. to spend time and figure out what's it there for.

  353. The next thing that's going to be said is because

  354. of the previous things said. Right, So, because I have

  355. all the power, I need you to go and tell

  356. everybody everywhere go make disciples'. That's evangelism, that's disciple making.

  357. Every single believer is called to be a disciple maker.

  358. And then he says, baptize them the name of the

  359. Father's Son in the Holy Spirit. It's interesting, it's a

  360. very clear articulation of the Trinity. There's not many times

  361. Jesus does mentions the entire Trinity at one time, but

  362. he does in this one. After he says, I have

  363. all the power. He says, Father's Son and Holy Spirit,

  364. and baptizing them is really including them into the family

  365. of God. That's what baptism signifies. It signifies the death,

  366. Beryl and resurrection of Jesus. You're in Christ. Because you're

  367. in Christ, you're also in with Us, and it's the

  368. family of God kind of component. And then he said,

  369. then teach these disciples to obey all the commands they've

  370. given you, which, if you have our time remembering all

  371. the commands of Jesus, he said, the two most important

  372. ones to fulfill all the law and the prophets is

  373. love God and love people. Right, and then oh yeah,

  374. go tell everybody and baptize them. There's those four things

  375. you got to do. Just do that make disciples. And

  376. then he says, in that context, you can be sure

  377. of this, I'm with you always, even to the end

  378. of the age. So it's in the context of making

  379. disciples and teaching them to obey. And it's because of

  380. his power that he says, in that context you never

  381. have to be afraid. I'll always be with you, whether

  382. you live or die, I'll always be with you.

  383. Yeah, And it's a wonderful thing to that promise, knowing

  384. that when it's scary, you know, when when when you're

  385. trying to be bold, when you're trying to be trying

  386. to be brave, that God is with you, because sometimes

  387. that's when you feel the most alone, right, you know,

  388. It's like, uh, I'll never forget. So many times in

  389. high school, I just I have always found myself myself

  390. in situations where I felt like I was the only

  391. Christian in the room and there'd be like something that

  392. would happen. I had an atheist teacher who used to

  393. say things, and I oftentimes challenged her or rebutted her

  394. or said that's not true. I literally would shout out, well,

  395. that's just not true, right, And then she just would

  396. just hey, you raise your hand before you speak, and

  397. all these kinds of things, and I'm like, no, no,

  398. I'm not going to do it. Well, you have attention.

  399. I don't care right now. Granted, could have done it different, Yes,

  400. I get right, I could have done it, you know,

  401. with respect and things like that, but but you know,

  402. but back then, I'm just like, hey, I'm sure going

  403. to do it so anyway. But all those times where

  404. I felt like I was the only one. You feel alone.

  405. But you have to realize when God asks you to

  406. never back down and stand up and be bold in

  407. this case, you know, to bring up God and to

  408. disciple someone. Well, gee whiz, that's not just a that's

  409. just not like one sermon. That's like that's a lifestyle, right,

  410. and that's like sometimes that's multiple conversations. I'm going to

  411. get to know you. I'm going to bring up God

  412. in the conversation. Hey, so what's your church background? And

  413. you believe in the things of God? And I mean

  414. these are developing things and and so you know through

  415. that whole thing, you know God is saying I'm right

  416. there to give you strength because every step is hard,

  417. every step is is a brand new piece of this discipling.

  418. You know, think about all the different scary moments that

  419. this entails. This is a lifetime mission.

  420. Right, one of the most powerful beginning conversations. You know,

  421. tools or starters that I've ever used, and I use

  422. it judiciously. It has to be an appropriate time and place.

  423. But there have been times when it was clear somebody

  424. was hinting around in a spiritual conversation. And people sometimes

  425. either don't know how to get into the spiritual conversation.

  426. They don't want to be confrontational, or they just feel

  427. uncomfortable with it. They're very attracted, they want to talk

  428. about spiritual things, they just don't know how to get started.

  429. And so in that when I have that sense if

  430. the Holy Spirit's nudging me, there's been many times I'll

  431. just say, hey, can I ask you like a really

  432. direct question? So I get them to give me permission? Yeah, yeah,

  433. go ahead, And I'll say, if God forbid, but if

  434. something tragic happened and you died today, are you one

  435. hundred percent sure you go to heaven? And I can't

  436. tell you how many times that just breaks it open. Right,

  437. So there's a boldness to that, because some people get

  438. it mad even bring that up or whatever. Right, So

  439. it has to be the right time, the right moment.

  440. But I've done it many many men, many times where

  441. I've seen grown men get teared up and they go,

  442. I think that's exactly what I'm asking, right, is I

  443. want to go to Heaven when I die. And so

  444. there's this opportunity there. So there's a boldness. This is

  445. what Jesus saying, Listen, I've got all the power, and

  446. I'm sending you on the mission, but I'm never going

  447. to leave you. The reason why I brought up the

  448. fact that he mentions the Trinity there is because at

  449. the end he says, I am with you always, even

  450. at the end of the age. But we know it's

  451. not him, it's the Holy Spirit. But he's speaking in

  452. the power of the Trinity there right, He's not speaking

  453. just in the Jesus conversation. He says, I'm the Son,

  454. the Father's Son and Holy Spirit are one, and I

  455. will be with you always. That's kind of thing. So

  456. now you're talking. You have the full power of the

  457. Triune God behind you when you are going and making disciples,

  458. and you don't have to go to you know, Ivory

  459. Coast to make disciples. You can make disciples in your

  460. lunch room. You can have a spiritual conversation with the

  461. person sitting in the cubicle next to you right right,

  462. or with your uber driver or whatever. It doesn't have

  463. to be some mystical go everywhere in the world. Christians

  464. are everywhere. Now, We've got Christians everywhere. So if all

  465. the Christians would just go next door, go across the street,

  466. we could lead people to Christ. The sad thing is

  467. only about five percent of all Christians ever have the

  468. privilege leading somebody to Jesus. And most of it is

  469. because ninety percent of all Christians never share the gospel, right,

  470. So it's interesting five percent will share what will lead

  471. somebody to Jesus. Ninety percent will never say, will never

  472. try to share the gospel, which means you can see

  473. the numbers there. More than half of us would lead

  474. somebody to Jesus if we would try. Yeah. And then

  475. the global stat you know, I work with a global

  476. evangelism disciple making organization called the Timothationership. The worldwide stat

  477. is you lead one out of every fifteen people you

  478. share the Gospel with. That can be discouraging to some people.

  479. That means you're gonna get fourteen nos. To me, I'm like,

  480. get through fourteen knows because you're gonna lead somebod to

  481. Jesus a number fifteen, right, that's the average share the

  482. gospel fifteen times, So fifteen times with the same person

  483. or fifteen times you know, with fifteen different people, you

  484. can lead people to Jesus. Just that's how it works.

  485. That's the mentality of a good salesman right there.

  486. Yeah, yeah, yeah, get through the nose so you can

  487. get to the s Yeah. And because you have the

  488. power of Jesus with you.

  489. Yeah yeah, that's great. You know, it's so interesting. I

  490. remember hearing a sermons series one time called Go Fish.

  491. It was all about fishing.

  492. For men, yep.

  493. And I remember it was like a six week series

  494. or a seven week series or something like this. It

  495. was the best evangelism series I've ever heard in my life.

  496. It was talking about leading people to Christ. But I

  497. remember the context of one of the sermons in this

  498. series talked about how it was called fishing Buddies, and

  499. it was the idea of like, hey, whenever you go fishing,

  500. you go go go the buddy, right, and you're, you know,

  501. two guys in a boat or whatever as opposed to one.

  502. And basically, what are you're saying was you have these

  503. two things. You have Jesus saying I'm going to build

  504. my church and nothing's going to stop it. And then

  505. you have the great commission go and make disciples, and

  506. you have two of these things and these are partners, right.

  507. And so he was talking about the idea that the

  508. church should be a partner with you. So here you are,

  509. you're at home, your at work, You're in your own

  510. little world. If you invite somebody to church, your church

  511. should be a partner with you in that when you

  512. invite them, the church should be also a place where

  513. I can give the gospel and they could hear the gospel.

  514. Right now, you shouldn't depend on your church solely. You

  515. should lead them to Christ yourself. You should share the

  516. gospel with them. You should know how to do that,

  517. you should do it regularly. But when you do invite

  518. them to church, we're both on the mission of reaching

  519. people for catching fishers and men, right you know, you

  520. know what I mean, catching fish. And so I just

  521. remember never forgetting that. I heard that. I heard that

  522. sermon in two thousand and three, and I thought to myself,

  523. I will never forget that. Yeah, that the church is

  524. a partner in the great commission. And so then sometimes,

  525. not often, but sometimes when I talk with people, they

  526. talk about like, hey, why is your church, you know,

  527. so heavy on reaching people who are far from God.

  528. You actually angle your services toward that person, And I say, hey, listen,

  529. it's just some churches don't do that. Some churches do

  530. like in depth Bible studies and and and they're more

  531. you know, for the for the believers, you know, focused

  532. on the believers on a Sunday morning. That's fine. And

  533. then I remember getting into a conversation with somebody about like,

  534. oh man, they very much prefer uh, this church because

  535. it's just a deep dive in the you know, in

  536. the book of whatever, Leviticus or something, and and and

  537. on the Sunday mornings. And their church was about, you know,

  538. it's a smaller church. And then here's what I did.

  539. I said, well, that's great. So how many people have

  540. you led to christy? And and they said, what do

  541. you mean, how's it? Well, if you don't go to

  542. a church you just talked, you just criticized my church

  543. for focusing on people, you know, focusing on reaching people

  544. for Christ. You're saying that your church doesn't necessarily have

  545. that focus on a Sunday morning. So therefore, you as

  546. an individual must be a superstar, right.

  547. Like leading lots of people to Jesus outside, Yeah.

  548. Because because you can't invite in the church to do so.

  549. And they're like, well, I never thought about that, right,

  550. And so it's the idea that like this great commission

  551. is hopefully going to be a partner. Hopefully you go

  552. to a church that shares this partnership with you. But

  553. it's both and it's not either or.

  554. Yeah, but it's so. The church is not an institution.

  555. We are the church, that's right, and we are here

  556. for the world. So whether it's inside of our building

  557. or outside of our building, we should all be making

  558. disciples all the time. That's right. Yep, that's great.

  559. Well, that's a great way to yep. Good reminder. Okay, well,

  560. hey that's our time, so we will see you hopefully

  561. next time on the Bible. Guys,
