  1. So, Jeff, where did you guys go on your honeymoon

  2. when you get married.

  3. We had a three day honeymoon and we went to

  4. Flint and Detroit.

  5. Okay, so mine is just as bad. I wanted to

  6. go to Disney World or maybe even like go extravagant

  7. and go to like Tahiti. Right, we had like seven

  8. grand back then, and instead we went to Toronto, Canada.

  9. Oh that's not as bad as Detroit.

  10. You're right, yours is worse. Yeah.

  11. Yeah, we went and saw the Phantom of the Opera

  12. in Detroit.

  13. It was that tour you win, or I should say

  14. you lose.

  15. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah it was bad. So and then

  16. I've just been letting Bonnie down ever since. Jeez.

  17. Yeah, we'll say we're talking about the honeymoon.

  18. Yeah. So he's Chris and I'm Jeff, and we're the

  19. Bible guys. So, Chris, you know how we want to

  20. bring the most important news to our people. Yes, and

  21. our listeners are committed to to real news. So sometimes

  22. we read, you know, important news from the Babylon B

  23. that they need to be updated on. But hey, we

  24. wanted to bring a heartwarming story from the Babylon B

  25. and you know that we believe that the Babylon Bee

  26. is as accurate as all the other news out there.

  27. Yes, absolutely so, National Inquirer.

  28. That's right. So Babylon b is a cheer satire if

  29. you don't know. But anyways, here's the headline. The headline

  30. is this heartwarming dog finally reunited with owner who left

  31. for thirty seconds to grab the mail. Isn't there so true?

  32. It's so true dogs grieve when we walk out the door,

  33. it says in a touching scene. Local dog Texts was

  34. overcome with joy after being reunited at last with his owner, Tom,

  35. who had briefly walked outside to check the mail. Text

  36. hasn't been this happy since the last time Tom checked

  37. the mail, said Tom's wife, Allison. It's like homeward bound

  38. all over again.

  39. Geez.

  40. According to Alison, five year old Texts had fallen into

  41. despair the moment Tom walked out the door. Text pecked

  42. all five stages, agave into about ten seconds out, and

  43. he whimpered, hung his head and finally accept that he

  44. may never see Tom again. But Text stood faithfully by

  45. the door to wait for Tom, and twenty seconds later

  46. it was the happiest reunion this world has ever witnessed.

  47. Animal scientists have been amazed at the ability of dogs

  48. to overcome remarkable obstacles to reunite with their owners. There's

  49. so many incredible stories of dogs waiting years for their

  50. owners to return, or traveling hundreds of miles to find them,

  51. said animal researcher doctor Meghan Platt. Dogs, however, are just

  52. as elated about seeing their owners when they've been gone

  53. for two minutes to the bathroom. Dogs are amazing creatures,

  54. but also quite dumb that publishing time text had decided

  55. Tom was a magical wizard after Tom had appeared to

  56. throw a ball but the ball disappeared. Jeez, that's so funny. Cats.

  57. I love cats and dogs, but cats couldn't care less

  58. that you leave, And when you come back, they're like, oh,

  59. you're back, Can you give me something to eat?

  60. Right?

  61. That's it. Yeah, But dogs are thrilled to see you

  62. every day.

  63. When Mike Cat looks at me, I feel like she's

  64. saying you are mostly tolerable humans. It's it's just the

  65. way it is, right. So, and I always say this comment.

  66. I always say, like, when we get married, I want

  67. I really wanted dogs Liz really wanted cats, so we

  68. compromised and we got five cats. So that's what we did.

  69. And then and then we have five cats, which by

  70. the way, is like three cats beyond socially acceptable, yes, exactly,

  71. and then and then and then finally, finally they're dying off,

  72. and so I'm not down to three. And then one

  73. of them is pretty old too, and so and so.

  74. Yeah, so you're almost acceptable.

  75. I'm almost acceptable. And I told them we will not

  76. get any more cats. So, I mean, you know, I

  77. love my cats a lot, I really do. I'm a

  78. cat dad, I'm a big pet guy. I love all that.

  79. But I love dogs. I just don't. I just feel

  80. like I'm past dog time, Like like I don't want

  81. to start the habit of king the dog.

  82. Dogs need you. That's the problem with the dog. Yeah, right,

  83. you can throw some some kitty litter in the corner

  84. and throw some cat food in the other corner and

  85. leave them for a week, yes, and they don't care,

  86. which but which we've done.

  87. Yeah, but dog we just have people check on them

  88. like once a day.

  89. Yeah. But dogs they need you, you know, all day

  90. or day. They're dependent on you. So yep. Anyways, that's

  91. a funny one. Our dogs do that, man, Our dogs

  92. will stand at the door and whine and we're just

  93. outside the glass. You know. Watering flowers in the front

  94. yard is the dumbest thing, you know. And then when

  95. you walk in there jumping around and it's a party

  96. and they run and bring it a toy back to play,

  97. and you know it's that that article is the true thing.

  98. It's a warming. So hey, yesterday we talked about the

  99. marriage Supper of the lamb, this big banquet, right, the

  100. wedding of Christ and the church is really what this

  101. is about. And then here we are with what's called

  102. the millennium, right, so give us an update. So there's

  103. a lot of different views on the millennium.

  104. Yeah, so some people think the millennium is not literal,

  105. and they would say that the millennium is something to

  106. summarize the life that we've already lived on the earth,

  107. that we've already lived out the millennium. And then some

  108. people believe that the millennium is a literal millennium and

  109. it happens right when Christ comes in chronological order, as

  110. sort of we're addressing it. And then there are people

  111. who believe that the millennium comes earlier than that, right,

  112. so's there's a question on placement. There's a question on

  113. whether it's literal or not. Some people would say they

  114. don't really believe there is a millennium at all.

  115. So in the same way that people would talk about

  116. the rapture, there's people that are pre tribulation, mid tribulation,

  117. post tribulation. With regard to the millennium, it's all about

  118. when does the millennium happen and when does the Great

  119. White Throne judgment happen? Right, we're talking about both those

  120. things today. So some would say the Great White Throne

  121. Judgment happens before pre millennial. Some believe that it happens

  122. post millennial. Some would say say, ah, millennial, meaning I

  123. don't believe a millennium is going to happen. And to

  124. be clear, we're going to read about it. But a

  125. millennium is just it's a thousand year reign of Christ

  126. is what this is, right. A millennium is a thousand years.

  127. So anyways, the Bible does talk about it, and it

  128. talks about it directly after the Marriage Supper of the

  129. Lamb in Revelation nineteen.

  130. And it literally says that Satan's bound for a thousand years.

  131. Yeah, so here we go, let's read about it. Yeah.

  132. So right after verse ten of Revelation nineteen is where

  133. the marriage supper of the Lamb ends, and the verse eleven,

  134. it says, then I saw heaven opened, and a white

  135. horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True,

  136. for he judges fairly and wages of righteous war. His

  137. eyes were like flames of fire, and his head. On

  138. his head were many crowns. A name was written on

  139. him that no one understood except himself. He wore a

  140. robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word

  141. of God. The armies of Heaven, dressed in the finest

  142. of pure white linen, followed him on white horses, and

  143. from his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down

  144. the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod.

  145. He will release the fierce wrath of God the Almighty,

  146. like juice flowing it from a wine press. On his

  147. robe at his thigh was written the King of Kings

  148. and the Lord of all lords. And then I saw

  149. an angel standing in the sun shouting. The vultures flying

  150. high in the sky, Come gather together the Great banquet

  151. God has prepared come and eat the flesh of the kings,

  152. generals and strong warriors. Didn't we already read this passage?

  153. Yeah, but it goes on.

  154. Yeah, of horses and their riders, and of all humanity,

  155. both free and slaves, small and great. Then I saw

  156. the Beast and the kings of the world and their

  157. armies gather together to fight against the ones sitting on

  158. the horse and in his army. And the beast was captured,

  159. and with him the false prophet, who did mighty miracles

  160. on behalf the beast, miracles that deceived all who had

  161. accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue.

  162. Both the beasts and his false prophet were thrown alive

  163. into the fire lake of Sulfur, and their entire army

  164. was killed by the sharp sword that came in the

  165. mouth of the one riding the white horse, and all

  166. the vultars gorged themselves on the dead bodies. So this

  167. is where he defeats, yes, the Antichrist, And then it

  168. picks up immediately in chapter twenty, which is maybe where

  169. we could have started. It says, then I saw an

  170. angel come down from heaven with the key to the

  171. bottomless Pit and a heavy chain in his hand, and

  172. he seized the dragon, that old serpent who is the

  173. devil Satan, and bound him in chains for one thousand years.

  174. The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he

  175. then shut and locked, so Satan could not deceive the

  176. nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward, he

  177. must be released for a little while. Then I saw thrones,

  178. and the people sitting on them had been given the

  179. authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those

  180. who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and

  181. for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped

  182. the beast or a statue, nor accepted his mark on

  183. their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again,

  184. and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. This

  185. is the first resurrection. The rest of the dead did

  186. not come back to life until the thousand years had ended.

  187. And holy are those who share in the first resurrection.

  188. For them, the second death holds no power. But they

  189. will be priests of God and of Christ, and will

  190. reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand

  191. years it comes to an end, Satan will be let

  192. out of his prison. He will go to deceive the

  193. nations called Gog and Magog in every corner of the earth,

  194. and he will gather them together for battle, a mighty

  195. army as numberless as sand along the seashore. And I

  196. saw them as they went up on the broad plane

  197. of the earth and surrounded God's people and the beloved city.

  198. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies

  199. and consumed them. Then the devil who had deceived them

  200. was thrown into the fire lake of burning sulfur, joining

  201. the beast and the false prophet. There they will be

  202. tormented day and night forever and ever.

  203. So wow, so it's very clear that the thousand years

  204. of celebration and of peace is because Satan is captured

  205. and thrown into captivity.

  206. That's right.

  207. And then they said he'll have to come out a

  208. little while. But he comes out and then he tries

  209. to rebel and then he loses.

  210. Yes, ultimately, that's right.

  211. And so that's why people believe in a literal thousand

  212. years of peace and prosperity, because it describes this, you know,

  213. because you know, think about it. If and this is

  214. just you know, makes sense to me. This is just

  215. one opinion. But if the millennium refers to a life

  216. already lived, Satan had not been bound for a thousand years,

  217. that's right, that's right. So that's really the big indicator

  218. as to an actual literal millennium.

  219. And then it seems to talk about those people that

  220. were already believers. It talks about those who were martyred

  221. during the tribulation are raised from the dead, But those

  222. who died during the tribulation were not right, they were

  223. not brought They're not going to be brought back to

  224. life until the Great White Throne judgment at the end

  225. of that thousand years. But then Satan does get loosed, right,

  226. and he goes out among the nations and he leads

  227. a bunch of people astray, and then the nations turn

  228. against Jesus again. This is the second time that humanity

  229. turns against Jesus, and it's because Satan is so slick,

  230. he's so compelling, and he gets him. So the question

  231. is who are these people? It hasn't everybody already trusted Christ.

  232. So I think that the answer there would be, these

  233. are the people who were born during that thousand years, right.

  234. So these are people who had not yet made a

  235. choice to receive Christ or reject Christ right during this time.

  236. And so those people it's not believers that turned against Christ.

  237. It's not the martyrs that turn against Christ. They've already

  238. died for him, right, So who else is it? It's

  239. the people who were born during that thousand year millennium. Everybody,

  240. everybody is going to face a moment where Jesus said,

  241. Remember Jesus said to Peter, who to people say I am?

  242. And so some people say you're prophet, some people say

  243. that you're you know, John the Baptist rased from the dead,

  244. and Jesus goes, great, Now who do you say I am?

  245. Every one of us is going to have to stand

  246. in front of Christ and determine who is he to us.

  247. And you don't get in based on mom and dad's

  248. belief system, you don't get in based on on your

  249. friend's belief system or whatever. And you don't just get

  250. in because God just decides to let you in. You

  251. get in because you determined that to you, Jesus Christ

  252. is the son of living God, right. And so I

  253. think that it's those people that are the ones who

  254. actually Satan's able to tempt and pull away, and.

  255. A thousand years is a long time. Yeah, I have kids.

  256. Yeah yeah.

  257. Look look at our population increasing just just in our lifetime, yeah, right,

  258. by billions.

  259. Right, yeah, so that's that's it. And then he finally

  260. he defeats Satan for the final time. Right, So firstly

  261. he had beaten the anti Christ and the and the

  262. false prophet. And now I love how it describes, you know,

  263. that that old dragon, that old serpent, that Satan the devil,

  264. right and defeats him. And then after that, all those

  265. that had died during the tribulation, they are raised from that. Everybody. Now,

  266. every human that's ever lived goes and stands before the

  267. Great White Throne judgment. This is different from the judgment

  268. Seed to Christ. Judgment. Seed of Christ is just every Christian,

  269. but the Great White Throne is every human. Remember, there's

  270. a time when Jesus says that God's going to sort

  271. out the sheep from the goats, right, that's this time.

  272. That's this time, right, And just to.

  273. Be clear, this is the very next verse from the

  274. passage we just read. Yeah, so we literally read everything

  275. in sequential order all of chapter nineteen, Chapter nineteen eleven

  276. to twenty one.

  277. But we had read the Marriage Supper of the day before.

  278. Oh yeah, yeah, the day before.

  279. I was about today, yeah, and then and then this complete,

  280. this will complete all of revelation twenty yeah.

  281. And so he says in verse eleven, and I saw

  282. a great white throne, and the one sitting on it.

  283. The earth and the sky fled from his presence, and

  284. they found no place to hide. I saw the dead,

  285. both great and small, before God's thrown. And the books

  286. were opened, including the Book of Life, and the dead

  287. were judged according to what they'd done as recorded in

  288. the books. The sea gave up, it's dead, and the

  289. death and the grave gave up they're dead. And all

  290. were judged according to their deeds. Then Death and the

  291. grave were thrown into the Lake of fire. And this

  292. lake of fire is the second Death. And anyone whose

  293. name was not found recorded in the Book of Life

  294. was thrown into the lake of fire.

  295. There it is, and the great way thrown judgment. It's

  296. not a feel good moment for people.

  297. Who don't know God, for lost people, right, And.

  298. So we're going to really get into that tomorrow, talking

  299. about heaven and hell and a little bit more tomorrow,

  300. so we'll save that part for that. But the idea

  301. that the Great White Throne judgment is referenced and it

  302. is real, and it is the time where you're going

  303. to be. So we believe that this is the time

  304. that is referred to in the New Testament where he says,

  305. depart from me, for I never knew you.

  306. Yeah.

  307. Right, So we stand in front of God and they says, God,

  308. I've prophesied in your name and I've done great things.

  309. And then God says, depart from me, for I never

  310. knew you. So those who even think they know about

  311. God or they've heard about the things of God, and

  312. yet they've not put their trust in Jesus Christ, we'll

  313. get to heaven assuming that they've been around religion enough.

  314. And this is the moment at the Great White Throne

  315. judgment where God says no.

  316. Yeah, And this is also where Jesus says that God

  317. will say, well done, good and faithful service. Enter into

  318. my rest right that I've prepared for you. So you

  319. have the sheep and the goats being separated, the sheep

  320. being followers of God, the goats being pretender in the chef. Yeah.

  321. Thea in the chief that Jesus talks about. So in

  322. this situation, then, just to remind you as you read

  323. through this, we're not saved by deeds. We talked about

  324. that in Ephesians chapter two yesterday. But deeds are seen

  325. as clear evidence of a person's relationship with God. Right,

  326. James tells us that faith, how works, is dead. You

  327. can claim to be a Christian, but if you're not

  328. living for God, maybe not right, So faith ought works

  329. is dead. And and it's kind of one of those

  330. deals where in this situation, what he's measuring is whether

  331. or not our name is in the Book of Life, right,

  332. and and that our name being written in the Book

  333. of Life is because of placing our faith and trust

  334. in Jesus Christ. That's the ultimate deed. Right. So we

  335. haven't done any other work to get to Heaven. But

  336. whether in our names in then in the Book of Life,

  337. it's all about whether our faith has been christ We.

  338. Had a traveling evangelist that came to our church one

  339. time on a Sunday night, you know, in this little

  340. Baptist church, and he was talking about the Book of Life.

  341. He was talking about salvation, and you know, you can

  342. get saved today, and he says, just remember he was

  343. talking about eternal security. Just remember when God writes your name,

  344. when the in the Lamb's Book of Life, he doesn't

  345. have an erasaur.

  346. That's right, that God's pencer, God's pencer and sharp we wrote.

  347. He wrote your name in the blood of the Lamb.

  348. That's really is what he did. But yeah, so then

  349. he throws death in hell and the grave hades is

  350. is kind of including the hell thing thrown into the

  351. lake of fire. And then this is God's judgment finished,

  352. It's complete, and it says that those whose name is

  353. not found written in the Book of Life are also

  354. thrown into the Lake of Fiance, the second death. So

  355. we're going to talk about that tomorrow. But it's the

  356. ultimate destination of everything wicked, Satan, the Beast, false prophet, demons,

  357. death Hades, all those whose names are not recording the

  358. Book of Life because they didn't place their faith in

  359. trust in Jesus Christ. And quite honestly, the Book of Revelation,

  360. of all books, the Book Revelation gives no room for

  361. middle ground. There's no gray areas in this. Either your

  362. names in the Lamb's Book of Life or it is

  363. not right. And that's why it's so important. This is

  364. why if you're either your name is in the Lamb's

  365. Book of Life or it is not. This is why

  366. when the disciples say to g An Acts chapter one,

  367. Hey tell us, are you about ready to come back?

  368. He goes this, none of your business. I'm going to

  369. send you the Holy Spirit. Get to work. Tell everybody,

  370. because at the very end, the only thing that will

  371. matter about you, about the people you love, about all

  372. the people in the world, is is your name in

  373. the Lamb's Book of Life or is it not? And

  374. there's no gray area at that point. That's huge.

  375. Yeah, that's huge. Yeah, And you know what, it's a

  376. great reminder that all of us should not be afraid

  377. to bring up spiritual conversations.

  378. Yeah.

  379. You know, it's interesting because I think I referenced this

  380. so long ago on HD Daily podcasts that I had

  381. a neighbor and he knew I was a young pastor.

  382. And then after years, as we're cleaning up leaves in

  383. my front yard and he was helping me, he said,

  384. I have a question, why have you never talked to

  385. me about God? And I was like, because I didn't

  386. want to be the weird, creepy neighbor who's a religious fanatic,

  387. and he's like, yeah, I sort of have wished, and

  388. I was waiting for you to bring up God to

  389. me because I've always wondered about it. And he's basically admitted,

  390. and he didn't say it directly, but he basically admitted.

  391. That's the reason why he hung out with me. That's

  392. the reason why he was helping with the leaves. He

  393. was waiting for me to bring it up. And I

  394. think that oftentimes people don't bring up God because it's

  395. an uncomfortable subject for some people. They don't like to

  396. think about those things. They push it off, or they

  397. have all these objections that they don't want to really

  398. get into, and people have all this baggage attached to it.

  399. But at the same time, I think that most people,

  400. deep down inside want to know, which is why when

  401. I bring up I bring up the question. By the way,

  402. I do this at every funeral unless the family requests

  403. that I don't do it right. It's my job to

  404. serving the family. And if they say don't do this,

  405. don't do that, I'm like, hey, that's fine, so they've

  406. chosen a funeral, you know, not like that, but for

  407. the most part, ninety eight percent of all funerals I've

  408. ever done, I spend my last five or six minutes

  409. with the exact same speech, literally verbatim. I can quote

  410. it to you right now, and and I basically the

  411. intro to that is one sentence I say, I'd like

  412. to spend my last few remaining moments together by answering

  413. one simple question, which is this, how can any one

  414. of us know for certain that we can go to

  415. Heaven when we die? How can anybody in this chapel

  416. have any confidence that that could actually be true. That's

  417. what's That's the where I start. And here, but here's

  418. what I see. I see that at funerals people are there,

  419. and which is why I know it sounds strange, but

  420. I actually think that funerals are one of my favorite

  421. things to do. And it's because of these reasons. Number One,

  422. I always give the gospel ninety eight percent of the time.

  423. Number Two, I give it to people who most likely

  424. will never set foot in church, right right, I mean

  425. the people these are people who are forced right and

  426. then and then number three, I'm giving the gospel at

  427. a time when people are our most received to it.

  428. Because they're thinking about death, and then they don't normally.

  429. And then the fourth reason is kind of a strange reason.

  430. I actually think it's a good on ramp to hear

  431. a pastor who is relatable in such things, because sometimes

  432. there's pastors who get up and they're just not the

  433. best representative. And it's like people think, that's why I

  434. don't go to church because of this, because of this guy,

  435. and you know he's talking about you know whatever. So

  436. I so anyway, bottom line is is, here's the point

  437. of that entire narrative. Is that when I say that

  438. intro question, how can anybody know for certain? How can

  439. anybody have any confidence that that could be true? I'm

  440. not even kidding the people who are glazed over because

  441. we're talking about Aunt Bertha's you know, like of planting flowers. Finally,

  442. when I when I ask that question, I see the

  443. eyes shift, and even even the most like non typical

  444. person who would be in church to listen to you,

  445. the hardest of you know, the the roughest, gruffiest guys, right,

  446. they'll look up and they're like, wow, he really said

  447. that in a compelling way, and then they just lean

  448. in like Okay, what's the answer, And I'm telling you

  449. it most people want to hear about it. So anyway,

  450. I'll just end with this thought. That was a long

  451. rant to say that all of us should have courage,

  452. all of us should understand what's at stake, and all

  453. of us should understand the assignment that God has given

  454. to us, which is, tell everybody you.

  455. Can't at the Great White Throne. It's not going to

  456. matter to us anymore. Was that embarrassing? Was it awkward?

  457. Did I bring up a topic they didn't want to

  458. talk about? Right when God is sorting us out and

  459. we turn right and they have to turn left and

  460. we're separated. The only thing that's going to matter at

  461. that moment is I wished i'd spoken up. I wished

  462. I told them right. Yeah, it's going to be huge,

  463. and so hey, everybody in your life, everybody you care about,

  464. it's going to spend eternity somewhere and you have the answer,

  465. so share it.

  466. Well, that is a great place to wrap up, and

  467. we're going to tackle heaven and Hell tomorrow, so hopefully

  468. we'll see you then on the Bible Gush
