  1. You're listening to The Bible Guys, a podcast where a

  2. couple of friends talk about the Bible in fun, in

  3. practical ways. Hey, everybody, welcome to the Bible Guys. I'm

  4. Kyle and this is Chris Yes, and today we are

  5. your Bible Guys because Jeff is out of town across

  6. the world doing great work with the Timothy Initiative and

  7. which you can google and learn about. But today we're

  8. actually in the third day of the second week of

  9. a series, the brand new series that we're talking about,

  10. Dangerous Prayers, and today is actually the theme of this

  11. week is surrender, Prayers of Surrender, which is pretty crazy.

  12. That's been great, Yeah, it's been great. And then so

  13. today before we get into that, we have a brand

  14. new segment and this is pretty crazy. I don't think

  15. I've ever done this segment Like this. Desire is coming

  16. up with new ideas all the time, and this one's

  17. called Advice Booth.

  18. Okay, so yeah, what we're gonna do here is we're

  19. each going to give each other advice on a topic

  20. and then we're gonna let the listeners vote. So I'm

  21. assuming that's gonna be through YouTube. Correct if you're watching

  22. on YouTube or even if you're listening on Spotify.

  23. Or who knows that nobody will do it, Kyle, Oh,

  24. I bet they will, but I but I hope they.

  25. I hope you take just a second and respond to us,

  26. because we love seeing feedback and I read.

  27. I know you do too. I read the comments. I

  28. love seeing this stuff, so this will be a chance

  29. to get people's responses.

  30. You know that I actually don't read the comments.

  31. You don't know, do they always talk about I don't

  32. even I don't even have it on my phone YouTube.

  33. Listen since I've done a fab this is the episode

  34. seven seventy three, and then HG Daily we did one

  35. hundred and fifty episodes, so we've done like a thousand

  36. episodes and I don't think I've ever once read a

  37. single comment.

  38. Oh okay, well they're usually pretty favorable. I like you

  39. a lot.

  40. Well that's cool, but but I probably need to. I

  41. probably need to. I probably should. But Jeff reads a lot.

  42. Yeah, and so he tells you almost to like me spoilt. Yes,

  43. all right, so now for this, you guys comments, let

  44. us know who you think you gave it a better advice? Okay,

  45. so advice booth. Here's the first one. How do you

  46. stop hitting snooze in the morning? Give people some invites? Chris, Well,

  47. I don't know.

  48. I don't know how you do it. But if I

  49. if that was my goal, if my goal is to

  50. not hit snooze, then my life hack is I would

  51. take whatever the alarm is and I would put it

  52. far from the bed forced me to get out of

  53. the bed.

  54. Yeah, that was Is that what you're gonna say? See,

  55. we didn't talk about this beforehand, and so I was

  56. worried we're going to steal each other's Hey.

  57. But that that is that is the I mean, isn't

  58. that the best one?

  59. Yes? Which shows yourself to get up.

  60. Which shows that you and I are both intelligent.

  61. Yes, exactly.

  62. So you put it way across the room, so you

  63. literally have to get up, yes, And so it's like

  64. that that way, you're not gonna hit snooze at all.

  65. Yes, And that's only if.

  66. You have a promised snooze. So my daughter, God bless her,

  67. we love her so much, Tory, she's so great. But

  68. she'll set like six alarms on the horn.

  69. Oh wow, right, my daughters do that too.

  70. Yeah, And so it's like it's like, oh, seven thirty

  71. seven thirty five, seven forty seven forty five, So she

  72. knows that she can hit uh, you know, off or

  73. snooze or whatever. And uh and I'm just thinking, why

  74. do you even want to play that game?

  75. So I had a season of life. I cannot remember

  76. the year, but it was not that one maybe within

  77. the last ten years where I went probably a year

  78. or two where I would snooze for an hour and

  79. ten every morning. I would set my alarm early, and

  80. I knew that I had up until this time, so

  81. be an hour. For some reason, it was this weird thing.

  82. I enjoyed doing it. Okay, so since you stole what

  83. I think is great advice, I'm going to give a

  84. second potential option, which is to make your ring tone

  85. so annoying and so loud that you don't want to

  86. hear it again. That could be an o pack.

  87. Give us an example, Kyle. Yeah, like what like like

  88. like a song?

  89. Oh, I don't know about a song? Yeah, I pick

  90. a song, Okay, Okay.

  91. It would be anything girly for you.

  92. Shoot, yeah, I don't know. I think you'd have to.

  93. Be like Friday Friday.

  94. Yeah, what's that?

  95. Uh?

  96. Was I persue, saying, the song, uh, something like something

  97. black Rebecca Black, Friday, Yeah Friday, be up there. It

  98. may be a show tune.

  99. Yeah, oh, showtunes would do it for that would do it? No? No,

  100. I'd lay there and be like the show too.

  101. Yeah, let's keep this time. But I think that could

  102. be a good hack. Right, is put whatever the ring

  103. tone is, or a song that's so annoying that it

  104. forces you to get up because you don't want to

  105. hear that ring tone again?

  106. Okay, all right, good advice yep. And number two, number two,

  107. what is the ultimate life hack for getting free food?

  108. What a question? What is the ultimate life hack for

  109. getting free food? You know what? I thought about this

  110. for two seconds before we started filming, and I thought,

  111. the only ideas that I can come up with are

  112. all bad ideas.

  113. Yeah, good, then share your best bad idea.

  114. Well, for instance, like I would never do any of

  115. these things willingly because they're they're they're wrong, right, because

  116. I can't think of a life hack to get free

  117. food in an honest way, right, like, like, how could

  118. you honestly get free food in an honest way?

  119. I think an app would be an option. Do you

  120. ever do food apps. No, no, okay. So for example,

  121. I have friends of mine who are big into like

  122. the McDonald's app if they you know, I know that

  123. may not be everyone's Fortepe, but Taco Bell, McDonald there's

  124. apps that allows you to get a lot of free food.

  125. Yeah really, yeah, okay, all right, that's one honest way

  126. you could do it, all right.

  127. But that means you have to spend a bunch of

  128. money and then you.

  129. Get Sometimes sometimes they'll just be going there and it'll

  130. be like with your ordernay, you get free French fries.

  131. So free food, okay, all right, So that that is

  132. sort of a hack.

  133. Yes, okay, a way that you would say is a

  134. bad advice.

  135. Okay there, Yes, Well, let me tell you. Let me

  136. tell you a story. When I was in the eighties,

  137. it was like it was like mid eighties, and there

  138. was a really fancy restaurant our area called the Brown Derby. Okay,

  139. And and and so we we Jeff and I and

  140. my buddy would go in and we'd sit down, and

  141. they bring us fresh bread and uh with and we'd say,

  142. we just want waters, okay, And so they give us

  143. ice water, and then we would sit down and we

  144. would do the loaf of bread, eat bread and butter,

  145. and it was so good. It was just this massive

  146. piece of bread. And then they come over and they say,

  147. what are you going to order? They say, oh, we

  148. just want the bread.

  149. There you go, that's a good life hack.

  150. And then and then they go what do you mean.

  151. I'm like, well, we just want the bread. So they

  152. brought us over another loaf of bread. They're like, well,

  153. well you have to order something. I'm like, no, we don't.

  154. It's free. It's free bread. So can you please bring

  155. us more free bread?

  156. Yeah?

  157. And we were sort of like, you know, sort of

  158. like you know, telling the waiter like, uh, I think

  159. you're I think you're obligated to bring us bread. So

  160. the waiter agrees, so he brings us more bread, so

  161. he literally waits on us. We go through like three

  162. whole loaves of bread and butter like like wonderful bread,

  163. drink the water, and then walk out without pan of dime.

  164. Wow.

  165. Now we only did that like three times. Yeah, before

  166. the management somehow caught on because apparently enough waiters complained.

  167. And then the fourth time we went in there, we

  168. sat down and they recognized us and they said, uh.

  169. There's a charge for bread, okay.

  170. And they said it's like four ninety five or something

  171. if you're not getting anything else. And I was like, oh,

  172. they caught on, gotcha, gotcha, But that was my life act.

  173. But I got It's not a terrible concept when you

  174. consider the fact there's a lot of restaurants out there

  175. that will almost fill you up before the food comes, right.

  176. I think of like Texas Roadhouse is one, yeah, I'll back,

  177. or what's one place down roadhouse?

  178. Uh don Horns, Yes.

  179. Long Horns takeout. That is great bread before you even

  180. get the food.

  181. So yeah, a lot of Mexican restaurants do free chips

  182. and saws.

  183. Yes, and there's my meal arrived. I'm like, I'm halfway

  184. full before the food even got here. So all right,

  185. that is a good life hacked. I'm gonna go with

  186. I'm gonna go with terrible advice. But I'll just say

  187. because you, well, I guess yours is kind of like, oh.

  188. Mine's terrible. Yea, yeah, I would never do that today. Yes,

  189. it's bad advice. I would say the way that was

  190. before I was a Christian, Oh that was that was

  191. b C.

  192. Yeah, mine, I would say is terrible advice, just for anybody,

  193. Christian or non Christian, is just to put it all

  194. on a credit card. Oh, just put a credit card.

  195. Not free. Ultimately that's more expensive.

  196. You're gonna be paying for it. Yeah yeah, yeah, seven

  197. percent interest on the long run. No, but but for real,

  198. i'd say the app you just say seven.

  199. Percent, isn't that what it is? No?

  200. No, No, they're a twenty five Okay, sorry.

  201. I was gonna say, like seven percent of the sales tax?

  202. Yeah, okay. So I to just one thing about I Actually,

  203. when I use my credit card, I try to pay

  204. it off. And I think popest people should try to write.

  205. Oh you're gonna you're gonna you have to throw that.

  206. In there, yes, because honestly, I didn't even know how much.

  207. How much are they used it?

  208. Well, it depends, it depends. I was just gonna say,

  209. if you have a seven percent interest on your credit card,

  210. that's a good card.

  211. That's good.

  212. Okay, I'd say hang on to that.

  213. Okay, yeah, good right, that's all right. So yeah, get

  214. some apps. Get them. Actually, do do you ever eat

  215. like McDonald's, even for like breakfast or anything? You don't

  216. strike me as a fast you know.

  217. You know what's so funny is I will I will

  218. do McDonald's and I'm good for like a year. Yeah,

  219. and then and then it'll be literally a year later

  220. before I go through. And it's almost always breakfast.

  221. Yeah, I'm a little bit I'm in the same boat.

  222. But but I do know that a couple of years

  223. ago because when I'll go with my friends to a

  224. golf outing, there's always McDonald's in town that we stop at.

  225. So I have the app and actually does have a

  226. good deal. So there's my life hack. Get the McDonald's out.

  227. All right. Well there you go. All right, Well, I'll

  228. tell you what that was. That was difficult. It was

  229. difficult to come up with those kinds of answers, right,

  230. and you know what else is difficult.

  231. What's difficult.

  232. The teaching is about forgiveness and faith that we're about

  233. to unpack. And Luke, chapter number seven.

  234. I'll just say, you're doing a great job this week

  235. with the transitions.

  236. Well, you know what, good I've taken all three of

  237. them as we were on the third day.

  238. Yeah, So for.

  239. The remainder of the week, I'm now announcing to our

  240. listeners you're you're responsible for the next two.

  241. Okay, sounds good. All right, that's difficult, you know, it's

  242. difficult what we're about to.

  243. No, no, no, no, I've already done that.

  244. All right, Luke seventeen, verses one through six. The section

  245. here says it's Jesus talking about forgiveness and faith, says

  246. in verse one and seventeen, Chapter seventeen. One day, Jesus

  247. said to his disciples, there will always be temptations to sin,

  248. But what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.

  249. It would be better to be thrown into the sea

  250. with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause

  251. one of these little ones to fall into sin. So

  252. watch yourselves. If another believer sins, rebuke that person. Then

  253. if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs

  254. you seven times a day, and each time turns again

  255. and asks forgiveness, you must forgive. The apostles said to

  256. the Lord, show us how to increase our faith. The

  257. Lord answered, if you had faith even as small as

  258. a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree,

  259. may you be uprooted and thrown into the sea, and

  260. it would obey you. Man.

  261. Is that it? Yeah?

  262. There one through six.

  263. Yep. Okay, So the dangerous prayer then, is just that

  264. simple sentence.

  265. Right.

  266. The apostles said, to the Lord, show us how to

  267. increase our faith. And they said that, of course, in

  268. light of the really hard teaching. Yes, now you know

  269. what's so interesting. You and I live post Jesus, right,

  270. I mean you were two thousand years post Jesus. And

  271. so the concept of loving one another and loving your

  272. enemies is something that we've grown up with for generations,

  273. and so it's not unusual. It's not mind blowing to

  274. hear love your enemies. But isn't it odd and strange

  275. and almost mind blowing? You think about when Jesus said

  276. a new commandment, I give to you love one another.

  277. It was a brand new thought, which is why Jesus

  278. often said, you've heard it said an eye for an eye,

  279. a tooth for a tooth. But I say to you

  280. love your enemies, forgive those that persecute you. Right, And

  281. it's it's just like this, this brand new thought. In

  282. the Old Testament, when you grew up, things were like

  283. pretty ruthless, in fact, very ruthless. The world was so

  284. harsh and even even the standard you know, there was

  285. no government a lot of times necessarily, and so there

  286. would be there's there's social law, there's there's there's there's

  287. you know, the ability to take revenge that you were

  288. within your right a lot of times. You know, think

  289. about the wild wild West, only only worse than that,

  290. right where it's like you were allowed to it was justified. Right.

  291. I remember watching a movie, an old Western, where somebody

  292. shot somebody down and then and then everybody was standing

  293. around watching it, and and and he says, he goes,

  294. you saw it. He provoked it. You saw it, and

  295. that was the only thing he needed, apparently, right, He's like,

  296. everybody here witnessed it, he provoked it. And I was like, oh,

  297. apparently that's okay, right, you know, killing somebody in the

  298. streets within the wild blah West is okay.

  299. Because because everybody saw it and can say, yeah.

  300. Everybody can say you were justified in what you were saying. Right.

  301. So the idea, the idea that Jesus would come along

  302. in Luke chapter seventeen right here and say, okay, ready

  303. for this. Somebody is going to offend you seven times

  304. and you are probably you have probably grown up either

  305. teaching you know, that your parents, or you're even your priest,

  306. or your your pharisee, your local leader has taught you

  307. to either hate them or to shun them, or to

  308. excommunicate them, or to even get revenge on them. But

  309. I'm here to tell you you are to forgive them. Yeah,

  310. even if they offend you seven times every single days.

  311. This revolutionary idea. And I think for me, I don't

  312. the thing that stands out right before that it talks

  313. about he says of another believer sins, rebuke that person.

  314. I don't know about you, but when you hear that

  315. word rebuke, it's not It's not like a hot word.

  316. You know a lot of times like rebuke, you're kind

  317. of like, oh. But the point it makes in the

  318. notes here in this Bible is here. It says Luke

  319. about three through fourth says, to rebuke does not mean

  320. to point out every sin we see. It means to

  321. bring sin to a person's attention with the purpose of

  322. restoring that person's relationship with God and with fellow humans.

  323. So that says, when you feel you must rebuke another

  324. Christian for sin, check your attitudes before you speak. Do

  325. you love that person? Are you willing to forgive. Unless

  326. rebuke is tied to forgiveness, it will not help the

  327. sinning person. I love that. If it's not tied to forgiveness,

  328. it will not help the sinning person. So I think

  329. what he's saying is, if you're going to go rebuke somebody,

  330. it's not a bad thing. That's a good thing. Even

  331. if you're receiving rebuke, it can be a good thing.

  332. But you have to really check your heart. If your

  333. goal is to find mutual reconciliation to eventually lead to forgiveness.

  334. If your goal is not that, then you're not going

  335. to help the person and your heart's in the wrong place.

  336. I think that's great.

  337. Yeah, and a lot of Christians, a lot of Christians

  338. miss this. Yeah, you know, one of the worst stories

  339. that I've ever heard in my entire life. And I'm

  340. serious when I say that it's one of the worst

  341. stories I've ever heard in my entire life. It was

  342. actually by one of our staff members, and she said

  343. that she grew up in a real conservative church, and

  344. conservative meaning like you know, they're all about rules and

  345. you know, focusing on these sort of legalistic kind of things.

  346. And she said that one time the pastor was standing

  347. by the door. And this was, you know, and probably

  348. in the late seventies or something, right back when hippies

  349. and all those kinds of things. And this kid had

  350. walked into church and he was coming to church, but

  351. he had long hair. And the pastor said, boy, you're

  352. not coming to my church with that long hair. You

  353. turn around and go get a haircut. And when you

  354. get a haircut, then you're welcome to my church. I

  355. promise you when I say, I have a physical, visceral

  356. reaction just telling that story. Right, so you know, that

  357. guy's eternity, you know, could be at stake. He could

  358. have walked away from God and everything else. Right, the

  359. damage that that causes not only to that man's eternity,

  360. but also maybe all of his legacy and his generations.

  361. And I'm not saying God still can't reach that boy,

  362. but I am saying that I personally know the hundreds

  363. of stories that have kept people away from God for

  364. years and sometimes even permanently, right because of things like that, and.

  365. Well, and then that person the pastor might have referenced,

  366. you know, and whatsover. It's it's a proverb about an

  367. open rebuke. Yes, like, but people take that out of context, right,

  368. That's exactly that was my point. Rebuke you I'm gonna,

  369. I'm gonna. And it's like no if your heart is

  370. not yeah, so.

  371. Sorry, yeah no, no, no, go ahead, good finish.

  372. I just I was just thinking about that. I think

  373. that oftentimes people see the rebuke thing and it does

  374. have a negative connotation because of the fact that it's

  375. been used as as a justification for unkind or ungodly

  376. or or hurtful words that are said and unproductive. Yes, exactly.

  377. So it's like it's like rebuke. Think about the purpose

  378. of rebuke. So the purpose of rebuke is directly tied

  379. to restoration, repentance, restoration, and everything else. So the purpose

  380. of rebuke is not for the sake of rebuke. Right.

  381. So it's like to all the Christians who type in caps,

  382. it's like, that's not the purpose of you know, your platform.

  383. The purpose of your platform is for the purpose for

  384. somebody else to be, you know, to come to Christ.

  385. So I think of it about as effective as this.

  386. And I actually said this literally, I just said this.

  387. So last Sunday I actually had the privilege of going

  388. to the away Lions game. Okay, so we were in

  389. Green Bay, the Lions did not do very well. No,

  390. in fact, it was that part of the trip was

  391. pretty darn discouraging. However, the trip itself to Green Bay

  392. was pretty awesome. And as we were walking through Green Bay,

  393. and by the way, what a wonderful place to be,

  394. I just have to publicly say wow to the people

  395. of green Bay. Just best best stadium in the United

  396. States of America. Best people, I'm not kidding, not even

  397. close in my mind. Well, just an unbelievable, over the

  398. top experience. So good job green Bay. But anyway, doesn't

  399. make me like the team anym though, but good job

  400. green Bay. So anyway, as I'm walking through, uh, this

  401. whole big strip where all these people are should or

  402. shoulder walking, there's the preacher on the microphone, but he's

  403. on a megaphone, right, and he's shouting things in the

  404. megaphone to people walking by the streets. And the things

  405. that he's shouting a lot of them are true things.

  406. They're true, but they're about as effective as you know.

  407. I mean, I'm trying to think of an illustration of

  408. the most ineffective thing in the world. Let me just say,

  409. fighting the tide with a pitchfork. It's about as effective

  410. as nailing jello to a tree, right, I mean that's

  411. how that's literally how effective this guy was. And he's

  412. shouting into the microphone, and and and and the things

  413. that he's saying are true, right, a lot of them.

  414. But but but but I walk by and and and

  415. then uh. I had my buddy Dave Wilson with me,

  416. and Dave Wilson goes, hey, goes, aren't you don't you

  417. want to go back there? And and and uh and

  418. and join him, And I said, uh no, I want

  419. to go back there and say, hey, thanks guy for

  420. making all of us look like idiots. Yeah, thanks for

  421. taking down all preachers are notch and making religion something

  422. to avoid, and thank you for being the most ineffective

  423. person in the world. And repel people. It's almost as

  424. if your goal isn't to have people know the truth.

  425. It's almost as if your goal is to repel people. Well,

  426. guess what ready for this transition. That's the same person

  427. who types in caps.

  428. Yeah, that's it.

  429. I mean, no ifs, no ads, no butts. If you're

  430. a Christian who all you do is just scream truth

  431. on a platform on a social media platform. I don't

  432. care where your heart is. It's about as effective as

  433. that guy out. I'm not kidding. That's true, right, because

  434. the number of people you persuade is let me think,

  435. carry the two zero.

  436. Yeah. Yeah, you think you're making an impact because you're

  437. speaking the truth, But it doesn't matter. It's the way.

  438. It's it's the First Corinthians thirteen where it says, if

  439. I speak in the tongues of men and ev angels

  440. but have not love or don't have love, I'm only

  441. a resounding gong or clinging symbol.

  442. That's right.

  443. That's literally, It's like it's your your approaches. You can

  444. say right things, the wrong one and the wrong way

  445. at the wrong time to the wrong people at the

  446. wrong place. Okay, so what do you think about this?

  447. So before that even he gets into this idea of

  448. causing the little ones to stumble, and it's it's it's

  449. sorrow awaits a person who does the tempting. It'd be

  450. better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone

  451. hung around your neck than to cause one of these

  452. little ones to fall into sin. So watch yourselves.

  453. Yeah, well, I I just I preached on this a

  454. year ago I should say we did right across the campuses.

  455. But yeah, we talked about how you know, there's this

  456. there seems to be this righteous indignation that Jesus has

  457. when it when it comes attached to children, especially right,

  458. and so for those who prey on children or or

  459. cause children to sin or stumble or you know, because

  460. after all, think about all the times in the Bible

  461. where God talks about us having the faith of a

  462. childe right, He says, our goal is to have the

  463. faith and innocence of a child. Even even to get

  464. into heaven, the requirement is childlike faith. Yeah right, so

  465. so so you know, think about innocence in the faith

  466. of a child. There seems to be this h you know, protection,

  467. protection and in a warning against those who take advantage

  468. of those who you know can't help themselves.

  469. Yeah, I think it's I think it just shows obviously

  470. God's heart for young people for sure that they are

  471. the future, and also just the protection of them, not

  472. just in a physical way, but also in this is

  473. a spiritual that the things that you tempt them to

  474. do or and especially in our culture nowadays, there's so much,

  475. so many temptations out there for young people but also

  476. I also think there's a possibility to that idea of

  477. Missy here.

  478. By the way at millstone is you know what that is?

  479. Yeah, it's actually a little Yeah you want to talk

  480. about Does it have a little note in there?

  481. Now go ahead read your not Yeah, that actually has

  482. the note and explained it better than I would.

  483. Yeah, it's great. It says. A hand mill is made

  484. of two circular stones used for grain grinding grain the

  485. grinding of grain using concave stones with flat grinding pieces

  486. to depict the ancient art dating back says the stone

  487. commonly uses black and the number of them. See we

  488. get to the point here. The handmill was so important

  489. in the life of the people that it was illegal

  490. to take someone's millstone as a pledge against the payment

  491. of a debt, for this would deprive the family of

  492. the means of making flour for bread. These stones were

  493. heavy enough to kill a man when thrown on his head,

  494. as in the case of be Malecan judges, if tied

  495. to the neck. They were also heavy enough to drown

  496. a person the sea. So yeah, there you go.

  497. Jeez, that's what And so Jesus says, ready for this

  498. better it would be better for you to put a

  499. millstone on your neck and jump into the sea than

  500. to offend one of these littles drowning and cause them

  501. to send So so yeah, a millstone, basically, I was

  502. going to say, in a shortened version, it's a really

  503. really heavy stone used to grind grain. A lot of

  504. times it would have a hole in the middle because

  505. there'd be a string. So instead of rolling the stone,

  506. they would pull the string and it would roll back

  507. and forth, and it would separate the wheat from the chaff,

  508. and it would it would do all these different kinds.

  509. It was grind right basically to make flour and things

  510. like this. So so yeah, a millstone was a very

  511. useful thing, but very heavy.

  512. And so yeah, and you know some of the little ones.

  513. What if it's a little one in your faith. It

  514. could be somebody who's a new believer. You mentioned earlier

  515. about the story about somebody walking into church and their

  516. hair being long. What if that person was open to

  517. the idea of Jesus for the first time, or maybe

  518. even recently accept the Christ in life. Then they come

  519. and they're told. So I think that we have to

  520. be very careful in how we handle per what Jesus

  521. is saying protecting those who are younger in general, but

  522. also younger in faith as well. Just protecting them, you know,

  523. keeping an eye out for them, not tempting them, more

  524. helping to show them the truth in love.

  525. So it's no wonder why the disciples said, show us

  526. how to increase our faith, because without the context, that

  527. may seem like a detached and kind of a thought.

  528. But I think, you know, based on what we said

  529. earlier about the mentality of like forgiving somebody was a

  530. brand new thought and right, so Jesus is saying forgive

  531. them every time. I would imagine that disciples would be like,

  532. I don't even know how to do that, Like, like,

  533. how would a person ever do that? That's the dangerous

  534. prayer that they prayed. It's a prayer of surrender. It's like, okay, God,

  535. you're giving us a truth that we don't want to hear.

  536. You're giving us a truth that is extremely hard, you know,

  537. for us to even accept or get around because, after all,

  538. those who offend are you know, if you're gonna use

  539. the word offend, that seems like justifiable. And you're telling

  540. me to forgive this person. So in order to do

  541. that increase my faith, because I don't know how to

  542. do that. And then Jesus of course responds and says,

  543. if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed,

  544. you would say to this mulberry tree, be uprooted and

  545. be thrown in a seed. It would obey you. And

  546. so he says faith as small as a mustard seed.

  547. In other places he talks about it's the smallest of seeds.

  548. Have you ever seen a mustard seed?

  549. No number?

  550. So if you take like a sunflower seed, it's like,

  551. it seems like it's three to four to five times

  552. as big as a mustard seed, I mean, maybe even more.

  553. A mustard seed is so incredibly small. And he says,

  554. if you had faith as small as a mustard seed,

  555. it's interesting because it brings up that whole I've mentioned

  556. this so many times before, but it brings up that

  557. whole idea of it's not quantity of faith that Jesus

  558. is referring to, it's quality of faith, right, because he says,

  559. you know, right here, he's not saying you have to

  560. have more faith. He's saying you have to have a

  561. very small amount of true faith. Right. So that's why.

  562. One of my favorite sayings is, it's not the size

  563. of your faith that matters. It's the size of your God.

  564. It's the quality of your faith that matters, not the quantity.

  565. So it's not the size of your faith that matters.

  566. Stop saying I need more faith, more faith, more faith. No,

  567. you just need some true faith.

  568. Yeah, right. I remember hearing about the mustard seed that

  569. the thing that separates it is that it's alive and growing,

  570. even though which is odd to think that it's so small,

  571. but it's actually alive and growing. I think that faith

  572. as long as your faith is alive and growing and

  573. not dead and decreasing or stagnant, and that's what what

  574. really is hoping hoping for it like a faith. It

  575. could be small, like you're saying, but at the same time,

  576. as long as it's alive and growing. So yeah, no,

  577. that's that's powerful.

  578. Yeah, and just a little bit of faith of saying,

  579. like I believe in who God is. I believe one

  580. hundred percent completely that God can give me the power

  581. to forgive, right, you know, for people who can't even

  582. imagine that. There's probably people listening right now who have

  583. a really hard time forgiving. Maybe even your spouse. You

  584. have a hard time forgiving your spouse. Maybe you're just

  585. angry at your spouse for something, and it's and it's

  586. a continual, chronic kind of a thing, you know. And

  587. you'd say, hey, will there ever be a day where

  588. I could live with complete forgiveness and I could move

  589. past this? Well, yeah, it takes a lot of work

  590. to do that, right, because faith is a choice, or

  591. excuse me, forgiveness is a choice. But you know, there's

  592. also a process that we should go through to allow

  593. God to heal our hearts as well. But it is possible,

  594. and God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is

  595. able to give you that power to live. There's a

  596. life destined for you that is free of bitterness and hatred. There,

  597. it really is. It is possible if you have that

  598. kind of faith that God can do that for you.

  599. Then that's how Jesus is responding. He's saying, just believe

  600. because I can do it.

  601. That's great, so great insight.

  602. Hey, Well, that's our time for today and so hopefully

  603. we will see you tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in on

  604. the Bible. Guys,
