Hey, what's up, host group leaders?
-
So excited to talk to you guys.
-
And at this time, if you can take a moment and grab your host group guide for session one.
-
Session one is called I Will Make You and I'm gonna walk you through the guide so you can know how to read it, how to use it, and what everything means.
-
So as you're getting your guide on the guide, I have highlight colors.
-
I have the color green, the color yellow, and the color blue.
-
The color green is like the point.
-
So it's the point you're on, whether it's the icebreaker or watch the video or this point of the message or the other point of the message.
-
So green is just showing you hey, I'm going through the different points so you kind of know where you are in the whole document.
-
The color yellow is explanation, so it's you giving an explanation.
-
So sometimes before you ask a question, you give an explanation.
-
And then the color blue, what's highlighted in blue is the actual question you will be asking your group.
-
So we're gonna kind of walk through everything and I'll show you how everything goes and flows.
-
And uh, you guys are gonna do amazing, you're gonna kill it.
-
You can always leave the leave the script and ask any question you need to ask.
-
So that's always okay.
-
So don't feel like you always have to, you know, stick tightly to the script.
-
If something organically happens, or if you have a question that you think will enhance, you can feel more than welcome to do that.
-
So we're gonna start.
-
Uh, the big ideal is Jesus didn't simply call us to believe in him, he called us to follow him, to be made by him, and to help make disciples.
-
We have the key scriptures there, we have the supporting scriptures, and then uh point one, which is in green, it's the welcome in the icebreaker.
-
So you're gonna pick the question.
-
I kind of gave you guys the one question to kind of simplify it.
-
And the question is who influenced you most outside of Jesus?
-
Who is the one person who helped shape you into the person you are today?
-
And what did they teach you?
-
And a lot of people will say, Oh, well, I had a teacher that helped me, or I had a pastor or a friend or a sibling or a parent, and they'll kind of go through, or even someone they've seen online, or maybe an author, and someone that read books, and sometimes you can help them if they're not able to answer, kind of throw them out some tips and stuff and just kind of let everyone answer um how they were moted or shaped by someone at some point in their life and how it influenced them.
-
So it's a cool little icebreaker.
-
Let everyone kind of talk through it and stuff like that, and you know, laugh, have a good time.
-
And then after that, all right, guys.
-
Well, man, those are amazing answers.
-
You guys did great.
-
We're gonna get ready to watch the message, and then um that's that's part two.
-
It's in green, and it's the message over the sermon I will make you.
-
You don't have to say all that, but that's that's what it is.
-
But you will say this, you'll say, leaders, before starting the video, um, while you're watching, you know, listen for um different things or questions that you may have, or you know, different things that maybe you want to remove from your life.
-
We're gonna be kind of recapping it.
-
So be listening for different things maybe you will want to know, or different things you would want to say to respond to this.
-
So I think that's pretty cool.
-
So then you guys are gonna go watch the video.
-
The video is 15 minutes, it's on YouTube.
-
You'll have a link you can click there.
-
And after you guys get done watching the video, you'll be like, all right, we're gonna have a discussion, and you'll start the conversation.
-
And here is number three on your document, start the conversation.
-
And then you'll kind of quote, like Pastor KJ said, and then the yellow is you just going through the explanation of maybe what I said to get into your question.
-
So it starts like this Pastor KJ said you can do everything and still miss the one thing.
-
Jesus' command was to be disciples and make disciples.
-
So here's my question for you guys: What are some good things that Christians can become busy doing while accidentally neglecting discipleship?
-
And then they're gonna give answers back.
-
Some of those answers are gonna be, well, I work a lot, well, I get distracted, I'm on Instagram a lot or TikTok a lot, or I don't read my Bible enough, I don't pray enough, I don't always come to church, and then they're gonna go through all the different things, and you just kind of facilitate that question.
-
You can share maybe some things you got busy with.
-
If they're not talking and flowing well, you can share some things you got busy with and stuff like that.
-
Once that question is done, we're going to the next question, and it's the follow me question.
-
And here's what you can kind of read.
-
Most people don't follow Jesus.
-
We quote Jesus, we read Jesus, we preach Jesus, we post Jesus, but do we follow him?
-
So here's my question: What is the difference between believing in Jesus and actually following him?
-
And you give people an opportunity to speak and respond there.
-
When that question is done, you go to question three.
-
What is the one area where following Jesus becomes difficult?
-
You have examples here to kind of help facilitate people.
-
That could be, you know, they they could have their answers.
-
If not, you could throw some things out there like it could be forgiving people, relationships, money, purity, pride, serving, controlling your emotions, trusting God, letting go of your plans, being consistent spiritually, or maybe you have a lack of faith.
-
You're just kind of throwing things out.
-
They may or may not need that.
-
And then we're going to the next question.
-
And this is the the part of is yourself are you self-made or God made?
-
Pastor KJ said you can be self-made or God-made, but you can't be both.
-
So here's my question: What do you think it means to be self-made instead of God-made?
-
And basically they'll answer like this is what it looks like when you make yourself and you decide your way, your will, how you want to live.
-
But this is what it looks like when you do it God's way, when you follow God's will, when you follow God's word.
-
And then question five, the next question inside that point.
-
Um, where do you think God may currently be asking you to surrender control?
-
So, what stops us from being uh God made and causes us to be self-made is us not wanting to surrender control.
-
So, what is the area that you need to let go of control in your life that will allow you to grow more in God?
-
And then we get to part six, and this is where we're green, it's the making process.
-
And then you'll say, Pastor KJ said, Everyone wants to be made, but no one wants to go through the making.
-
And here's the question I have for you Have you ever gone through something difficult that God later used to mature you?
-
And then you'll give them an opportunity to answer this, and you'll tell them, hey, if you don't have to share nothing over personal if you don't want to, but what's the hardship or difficulty that you went through that God used to mature you and make you?
-
And then we get to the next part.
-
Why do we need community?
-
Pastor KJ said, discipleship is not a solo sport, it's a team sport.
-
Here's my question why do you think God uses other people to help develop us instead of letting us spiritually grow and instead of letting spiritual growth happen completely by ourselves?
-
So let me say it again.
-
Why do you think God uses other people to grow us instead of letting us be grown by ourselves?
-
And um, and I think people will answer, well, you know, God wants you to have accountability, encouragement, correction, wisdom, perspective.
-
You don't have to do it alone.
-
He wants you to have support, uh, he wants you to learn from others and stuff like that.
-
So just and you encouraging them, like, yeah, this is why community is important.
-
You can share maybe how community has changed your life.
-
And then point eight, the chisel.
-
Pastor KJ ended with the illustration of Michelangelo when asked how he created his masterpiece, David.
-
Michael Angel, Michelangelo reportedly described the process as removing everything that wasn't David.
-
Pastor KJ said, How would Jesus make you by removing everything that ain't you?
-
And here's my question What is Jesus currently trying to chisel away from you?
-
And um, and then you know, you can just, you know, let them answer, you can share some different things.
-
You know, he's trying to chisel away pride, fear, bitterness, anger, lust, insecurity, shame, selfishness, you know, people pleasing, control, isolation, unforgiveness, worry, you know, all the things.
-
And then when everyone gets done talking, you encourage everybody, you respond back, you host well.
-
And you'd be like, hey, we're gonna go into a time of prayer and we're gonna pray.
-
You can pray whatever's on your heart, but I'm gonna pray over you guys right now.
-
And I just pray that you would be disciples.
-
I pray you will let Jesus make you.
-
I pray that you will let Jesus do amazing things in your life.
-
I pray you will let Jesus chisel away everything that's not you, all the fear, the bitterness, the shame, the worry, the anxiety.
-
And I pray, Lord, that you would just make them whole, Lord, and you would do amazing things in their life.
-
In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
-
And then after this, thank you guys for coming.
-
