  1. Father, we thank you again for our time together, and uh we thank you for the encouragement we receive from your word throughout the week and then this time together.

  2. And so we just hope this time is one way we can just share and talk and review, and we just thank you for the things you're teaching us and for your spirit.

  3. We thank you again for all you do in Christ's name, amen.

  4. Okay, good deal.

  5. Um, I'd like you to turn to 2 Peter 1.19.

  6. 2 Peter 1.19.

  7. And I'm actually going to start in verse 17.

  8. So if you've got that, let's read through it.

  9. But it's it's really verse 19 I want to look at.

  10. So 17 says, For we have received honor and glory from God the Father.

  11. Such an utterance as this was made to him by the majestic glory.

  12. This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.

  13. And we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

  14. What's that a reference to?

  15. Transfiguration.

  16. The transfiguration.

  17. And you all know what happened at the transfiguration, right?

  18. I mean, they're all out there, and what does Jesus do?

  19. He takes the form and he takes the form, he changes before them all.

  20. What does he look like?

  21. The one that's in Revelation.

  22. The one that we read about in Revelation.

  23. I mean, if you go back and look at it, it it's it's similar.

  24. It's the pre-incarnate Christ, where he becomes what he's gonna look like.

  25. And they got to witness that.

  26. They got to soar it, they got to see it, those three had the privilege while they were still waiting for him to then die.

  27. But look at the next verse.

  28. 19.

  29. And so we have the prophetic word, talking about prophecy, made more sure.

  30. More sure.

  31. The prophetic word is made more sure, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place.

  32. Until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

  33. You know what this is saying about why you study prophecy, why we should be, why we are looking at the book of Revelation?

  34. What do you think this is saying?

  35. Look for his coming.

  36. Yeah.

  37. At the end, right at the end it says, uh it says, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

  38. That's a reference to the morning star of him coming back.

  39. But what's this saying about a dark place?

  40. Do we live in a dark place?

  41. Do you understand what he's saying here?

  42. Knowing prophecy is like light.

  43. It gives you hope.

  44. And we see stuff going on all around us, we see our economy falling apart, we see wars, and all this kind of stuff happening.

  45. This is an encouragement.

  46. And guess what, guys?

  47. We're the only ones that got this.

  48. This is a Christian doctrine.

  49. It's not a Muslim doctrine, it's not a Hindu doctrine.

  50. It's not, you know, all these other things.

  51. We're the ones who have this.

  52. So I want you to keep that in mind as to the hope that we have.

  53. And and uh and and what's interesting is we have the sure hope.

  54. He's saying that this prophetic word is even more sure than when I saw him on the mountain.

  55. I mean, what we're reading here is even more sure.

  56. It's gonna happen.

  57. This is gonna happen.

  58. Okay?

  59. It's exciting.

  60. Okay, so let's uh remember today is a kind of a summary.

  61. We're right we're kind of uh we're getting we've been swimming around for a long time, barely uh getting our head above water, and now we can uh float around on our rafts for one lesson.

  62. Get plenty of air and share some things.

  63. And we've had uh three or four people send in questions, and uh we'll kind of address those.

  64. Uh but I want you to look at this.

  65. Umce again, this is just review.

  66. And if you look at the top part of your sheet, remember that Revelation 1, that's the vision of Christ.

  67. Remember, he was walking around in the lampstands, and it talked about all those different characteristics: bronze, a face like the sun holding seven stars, his hair, his eyes, all those kind of things are mentioned there.

  68. And remember, that's the pre-incarnate Christ.

  69. And and and John saw it.

  70. Okay?

  71. Remember, Peter saw it.

  72. Now he didn't see all the lampstands and all that kind of stuff, but he saw the same thing.

  73. Okay.

  74. The second thing, there are, remember, this is kind of a review.

  75. What are the three ways you are to interpret these three different churches?

  76. What are the three lenses that you look through?

  77. What's the first one?

  78. Literal, historical churches with real people, real problems, and they and they're in a real place.

  79. Okay?

  80. That's the first way.

  81. What's the second?

  82. A universal, timeless throughout time.

  83. And what does that actually mean?

  84. So so what?

  85. Now there's seven of them.

  86. What does that mean to us?

  87. Yep, seven is a hundred percent, so it represents all a hundred percent of the church.

  88. What does it mean that it's timeless?

  89. All yeah, all churches.

  90. Throughout history throughout history.

  91. And now until the beginning to the end.

  92. Okay, yes.

  93. The circumstances are the same throughout history of what they were thinking?

  94. Yeah.

  95. Yeah.

  96. Can you go?

  97. Can could we, if we wanted to, if we took a bus trip, could we go on a bus?

  98. And go find one of these churches.

  99. Yeah.

  100. That that's this universal.

  101. We could go anywhere.

  102. We could go anywhere in the United States and probably find a Smyrna church.

  103. It'd be hard.

  104. I think it'd be hard to find a Smyrna church.

  105. But you could go to Iran and find one real easy.

  106. Okay?

  107. Persecuted church.

  108. We could go to a reformed church, the ones he talks about here.

  109. We could go to the Catholic one, the thyatire-type church.

  110. Could we so you can go see these all around.

  111. They're all universe.

  112. That's what we mean by universal and timeless.

  113. Okay?

  114. It wasn't just back then, it's even now today.

  115. Okay.

  116. Any thoughts on that before we move on?

  117. And what's the third one?

  118. The prophetic.

  119. And this is the idea that uh, and and remember, this was, I think David had mentioned that this is not no, well, this wasn't known until about 150 years ago.

  120. When it was kind of, we they saw some things in here and they got to be able to link it and look at it and go, man, this is this may be something more to this.

  121. And they developed it, and and it seems to, based on a lot of the things we've seen in here, we've gone through, that these are prophetic.

  122. They each represent a time segment.

  123. Some of them are short, some of them are a hundred years, some of them are a thousand years.

  124. Okay.

  125. And do you remember why that's why why is that important to know?

  126. Why why is that interesting or important to know?

  127. To know where we're at right now.

  128. Yeah, it does.

  129. It sure does.

  130. Don't you think that all the seven churches in Egypt, that we all he's talking to all of us?

  131. Yes.

  132. At any age.

  133. Whichever church age.

  134. Yeah.

  135. Yeah.

  136. I mean, could we at first Baptist become a Smyrna church?

  137. Absolutely.

  138. I mean, it it I think I think David mentioned that last time when he spoke in Africa and how I mean it it could turn in six months, and before they know it, they're hunting us down.

  139. Not that I would want that, but but yeah, it could be.

  140. That's what China's praying for.

  141. Yeah.

  142. But go ahead.

  143. I know you think it tells us to pick up the shovel and pick up the spear in the left hand.

  144. So it's like it's like you better be ready.

  145. Make sure you're sharp.

  146. You know, and he's not just talking, I'm the sword now, sharp up here.

  147. Yeah, yeah.

  148. In here, right?

  149. You know, and and and refine it and retune it and chew on these words and learn and and and because I tell you right now, finishing, this is the second time I finished the Old Testament in my life.

  150. And it was today, doing the Bible recount.

  151. And it is like, whoa.

  152. I mean, every time I pick it up, it's brand new, it's different.

  153. Yeah.

  154. Every time I chew on these words, I have to stop and digest it and try to understand what I just wrote.

  155. Yeah.

  156. It's good.

  157. You know, we talked about before what a mystery is.

  158. Something that wasn't known, that's known now.

  159. My question to you guys is we've gone through these churches, do you see how these yourself, do you get any illumination that that's truth of what you're looking at?

  160. Can you see that through history?

  161. Because it's important because now, if you can see that and God gives you illumination that that's true, then that should give you more understanding at all that we're in the layodice and time frame right now.

  162. We're in the two-minute warning.

  163. I can hear the referee saying two minutes.

  164. I don't know if you've ever heard that basketball game.

  165. They think that's what they say.

  166. That's telling you we're getting close to the end, right?

  167. Is it is it correct that revelation, the book, reveals things that aren't revealed anywhere else in Scripture.

  168. In other words, that's why they call it revelation.

  169. I've heard that.

  170. I think it was John MacArthur said, in that book, God reveals things that were never revealed before.

  171. That's true.

  172. But the thing that I think one of the things that comes for me in studying scripture is, you know, there's nothing new in Scripture.

  173. It's all there.

  174. But what happens is as we get closer to time frame and as we learn the Bible more, we get illumination, not as much revelation as we get illumination, because it's already all there in the scripture.

  175. But I think what's happening is, and just while you guys are in here, God wants, you know, God's not trying to keep things from us like sometimes people think.

  176. He wants to reveal things to us.

  177. And I would hope what this is doing for you is giving you confidence that we are getting to this place, this incredible climax of what's coming, of what God says, okay, this is happening.

  178. And you know, we we in in Peter it talks about scoffers, you know.

  179. There's a lot of scoffers out there saying, no, this is gonna happen.

  180. Well, as we read this, we ought to say, this is gonna happen.

  181. A hundred percent.

  182. And it's happening.

  183. Yeah.

  184. I think the thing to remember, and part of the illumination thing, I think the reason God's held, he's held off some things that the earlier churches didn't understand, and he's held them off for the latter churches because they're at the end.

  185. And they need to know.

  186. And when you anytime God's judgment's gonna fall, not on the not on the church, but anytime God's judgment's gonna fall on the world or something, he he always wants, he always sends prophets, he always, and I think this is part of the elimination of why we're able to understand certain things, because we're getting ready to jump from the kingdom program to the kingdom place.

  187. And the book of Revelation, the new information, it's always been in the book of Revelation, but quite not quite understood.

  188. But it but it talks about that, what that change is, what's what it's gonna look like.

  189. And uh so good.

  190. Okay, so uh that's good.

  191. Now, what is the three-part outline, remember?

  192. It talked about the the book is divided into three parts.

  193. Chapter one is what the things that are were, and that's what that's where he saw the vision, okay.

  194. Then that goes to the second part, which is chapter two and three, the things that are, and are we in that part?

  195. Yes, we are, we're still in the things that are, because we're in the Laodicean church.

  196. Okay, and then the third part, which is chapter four on, is the things that will take part, take place after these things.

  197. And it talks, and that's the when you go into chapter four, verse one, it says the things that are after these things.

  198. So now we've moved into a whole different, and those are the things that have not happened yet.

  199. And those are the things that you you thought about.

  200. Well, you want to know what's coming?

  201. Then it's chapter four on.

  202. That's the that's the stuff that's coming.

  203. And that's what we're getting ready to jump into.

  204. So it's pretty exciting.

  205. Okay, I made this uh I made this sheet.

  206. Uh this takes all of the information, all of the lessons we've done, and it and you remember every every time he addressed the church, he addressed this, he there were certain things he did all the same, right?

  207. There was a name of the church, there was a salutation, right?

  208. There was a commendation, there was a condemnation, there was a warning, there was a remedy.

  209. He always said you need to be doing this.

  210. There was a promise, an overcome's promise.

  211. Okay, and then there was the prophetic period.

  212. And all of those are all, we've got them all in there.

  213. Okay?

  214. So really the main ones, the main ones I want to kind of go through there is I want you to look at Christ's salutation.

  215. Now, all of those things across there.

  216. Where did though where did all of those things in the salutation, where did they all come from?

  217. Chapter 2.

  218. Chapter 1.

  219. That vision, you know that vision that he saw?

  220. All of those salutations, it doesn't matter, where you go all the way through them, they all came from there.

  221. He holds the seven stains, I mean the seven stars.

  222. He walks among the lampstands, he's the first and the last.

  223. He's dead and now alive.

  224. He holds a sharp two-edged sword.

  225. Okay, that was all there.

  226. Son of God.

  227. He had eyes of fire, feet of bronze.

  228. Okay.

  229. Um holds the seven spirits and the seven stars, holy and true, holds the key of David.

  230. And then finally, the Amen and the faithful true witness.

  231. All of those are all linked.

  232. So, but remember, as we went through that, each one of those is specific to that particular church.

  233. He kind of draws on the particular thing that that particular church was either having trouble with or needed fixing.

  234. Okay, notice the next one.

  235. Each of them had a commendation.

  236. Except a commendation is a good thing.

  237. This is something good.

  238. This is you're doing good.

  239. I commend you.

  240. You know, and you can look at them.

  241. You toil, you persevere, you know, you endure the apostles, you know, you false teaching, you fight against it, you endure tribulation and poverty, you hold fast Christ's name.

  242. Uh, you love, faith, service, perseverance, your deeds are increasing.

  243. That was the Thyatire church.

  244. They were doing lots of things because the government, the state had collapsed, or the church that was left doing it.

  245. A few have not soiled their garments.

  246. Okay.

  247. That means that they were hanging in there.

  248. They hadn't, they had not.

  249. There was a few.

  250. Now that was actually, let me go to this.

  251. Somebody asked a question.

  252. Somebody sent me a question.

  253. Let me see here.

  254. It was Joyce.

  255. Joyce sent me a question.

  256. And she said, uh, she talked about Sodom and Gomorrah and how God destroyed it.

  257. And she says, it seems like his opinion of Laodicean church is even worse.

  258. Um he would rather then be hot or cold and than rather than be lukewarm.

  259. They make him want to vomit.

  260. That's true.

  261. I I don't read he has anything good to say about them and find no hint of a remnant still existing.

  262. Now look back at that layer of the sea.

  263. Is there a remnant there?

  264. Now, where would you go to find out on this sheet about a remnant?

  265. Yeah, and which one on it is it?

  266. Which which which line which uh which row across across here is the remnant row?

  267. The overcomers.

  268. Overcomers.

  269. Yeah, and if you look at the Laodicean church, what does it say about the overcomers?

  270. They sit first at the end.

  271. God always has a remnant.

  272. Even in the Laodicean church, and he tells us in this in this Laodicean church that those of you who are, if you hang in there and are doing the right thing, you will sit with Christ on his throne.

  273. Well, if we're in the Laodicean church, I hope we're the remnant.

  274. Where does he say?

  275. Okay.

  276. But it sounded like to me to stand, if you overfind.

  277. I just I guess it maybe to translate another three.

  278. Yeah.

  279. But like they can.

  280. I'm knocking on your door.

  281. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  282. If you do overfind.

  283. Yeah.

  284. If you do, but it's not like there is already.

  285. Yeah.

  286. I think it's it's easy to get confused.

  287. You've got to remember that he's he's talking to the the general the general worldwide church, the general body.

  288. But this is a church, you have to remember.

  289. He's not talking, he's saying, Oh, you just pagans.

  290. He this is a church.

  291. Yeah, yeah.

  292. So there's some there is some overcomers in there.

  293. Yeah.

  294. There's just not very many of them.

  295. And so, you know, if you think about it, I don't know, I've thought about this many times.

  296. How many people you think are saved in inside this church today?

  297. It might it might be kind of surprising, mightn't it?

  298. So, so, but there is some overcomers because he is talking that this is a a church.

  299. So there's some in here that's saved.

  300. But by and large, for the most part, there is a lot of pagans.

  301. And so Joyce's question is there a reason in this in this text to believe there is a remnant in this church?

  302. And there is.

  303. There is a remnant.

  304. God always has a remnant.

  305. Okay.

  306. So that was good.

  307. Yes.

  308. And my Bible doesn't say if you overcome it.

  309. It talks about the victors.

  310. Yeah.

  311. And they will.

  312. They will.

  313. Yeah.

  314. It's a promise.

  315. And and that God always has his people, you know, in his church.

  316. So those are the uh which one did we just finish?

  317. Commendation?

  318. Oh, yeah, commendation.

  319. So there's always something good.

  320. Everybody's doing something good except the one wearing.

  321. That's not saying we're not doing good things.

  322. It's just saying that generally that the church today is not doing its thing.

  323. Okay, the next one was uh condemnation.

  324. Now you can look and go through all the way across, and there's something in all of these that they're doing wrong, that they're not doing.

  325. And you remember the first one, it was you lost your first love.

  326. In other words, it had just become, it had become routine.

  327. Remember that?

  328. We talked about that.

  329. Just gotta go to church today.

  330. You just you forgot what you're even coming for.

  331. You lost your first love.

  332. Easy to do, right?

  333. Okay?

  334. Remember, Smyrna had none.

  335. It had no condemnation.

  336. And what was the other one that had no condemnation?

  337. Philadelphia.

  338. Philadelphia.

  339. Yeah.

  340. Okay.

  341. Of course, Pergamum, remember, it its condemnation was it it tolerates the teaching of Balaam.

  342. Now remember who Balaam was?

  343. Was a believer.

  344. So he was a believer, but he but he did, he was doing what?

  345. Profiting.

  346. Profit.

  347. Everything he did was to embellish himself and make more money.

  348. And you know.

  349. So he's a believer, but he was using it not in the right way.

  350. Okay?

  351. And that's the condemnation.

  352. Now we don't have that today in churches, do we?

  353. You see what I'm saying?

  354. How it's universal?

  355. You can find this all over the place.

  356. Now the next one, remember, how was that a little bit different?

  357. Thyatire, which was the the uh Catholic Church, it tolerates Jezebel.

  358. Now remember what Jezebel was.

  359. So Jezebel was a non-believer.

  360. Yeah, if Pergamon was a believer who was doing the wrong things, Jezebel is an unbeliever who's who's doing the wrong things.

  361. So it's ri it's just getting worse and worse and worse.

  362. And uh okay, sadness, which is what we talked about last week.

  363. Um alive and name only.

  364. Remember the deeds were incomplete.

  365. Now, I'm gonna bring this up, Wes.

  366. Wesley, uh I made a comment last week, which I which was wrong.

  367. And he he called me on it and sent me a letter, and uh, which is great.

  368. And you know, I taught I I threw in this thing about Calvin, you know, and the U and the I and all this kind of stuff, and uh and he he corrected me on some things that uh that the tulip thing hadn't even occurred until 50 years, was it earlier or later?

  369. Later.

  370. Yeah, yeah.

  371. And so, and you remember I said that uh my comment was, which was in error, was that uh because of the you and I, it can cause you to not evangelize.

  372. You don't have to evangelize because people are already picked, they're already predestined.

  373. With no matter what you do, it's not gonna matter.

  374. Okay, and that and that is not in some sense that could occur, but West went on to show me that the the evangelism that came from Calvin, I mean, I don't know if you saw the Great Awakening, the movie.

  375. Well, he was a Calvinist.

  376. And he came to America, and I don't you you saw what happened there.

  377. And so I I just I needed to mention that.

  378. And uh he also mentioned uh, and I'm gonna read this, I'm gonna read this last part, you said Wes.

  379. He said, anyways, I hope you you know I'm not trying to be that guy.

  380. You remember what the scriptures say, iron sharpened iron.

  381. And and I, hey, I make mistakes.

  382. I think Stephen makes mistakes.

  383. I think, I mean, we all do.

  384. We just have to own up to it and admit it and go on.

  385. And we're all going to, because we don't, we're not fully, we're not God.

  386. We don't know it all.

  387. We're not totally illuminated.

  388. We're still working through this thing.

  389. He said, uh, I'm not trying to be that guy with controversial opinions, but I do hope it will help spark an encouraging reminder about how the Protestant Reformation was focused on God's sovereign grace and the call to salvation.

  390. And it was.

  391. If you listen to Andy Woods, he's he's another guy I listened to in Sugarland, Texas.

  392. He just, I I listened to a message you had this this uh this week.

  393. Uh it was a while back he did this, but he talked, he talked about, you know where we got our constitution from?

  394. And how we got the three, how our government, why we have three um branches of government?

  395. Do you know do you know why?

  396. You know why those guys were so big on having three branches of government?

  397. It was because of the depravity of man.

  398. And you can't trust man, and man is gonna and and why did a lot of the founding fathers believe that?

  399. Well, because they were listening to Calvinistic preachers who taught about depravity.

  400. And they wanted to make sure that they they kept man in a box.

  401. Okay?

  402. So balance is balance.

  403. Yeah, yeah, balance, yeah.

  404. So uh so anyway, he uh focused on God's sovereign grace and the cult of salvation that should go out to all people and how that should uh inspire us to active, confident ambassadors for Christ, knowing that he's the one who goes before us and prepares the way and opens hearts.

  405. Okay?

  406. So we do need to realize that.

  407. Now, Stephen did in his message, in his notes, he did talk about what was the problem in the you remember what he did talk about?

  408. What was the problem with the sodist church?

  409. I remember I talked about taxes and taking it out of their check automatically and tithing.

  410. Well, they were born into salvation, which is the same.

  411. That was it.

  412. If you were in the Catholic Church and you're in Germany, then you're all in the Lutheran Church, you're all Lutherans.

  413. And so there's now what do you do?

  414. I mean, how do you evangelize if everybody's Lutheran?

  415. You know, or if it's French in this, and if there's another one in the Presbyterians, and so that that was his main point in that, in that, in his notes, was you didn't evangelize because I mean everybody is a believer, which we know is not true.

  416. Okay?

  417. Yeah.

  418. I think what I took out of that, what Wesley was saying, too, what came out of the Reformation was the great missionary church.

  419. Yeah.

  420. Not necessarily that it was the great missionary church, but it did bring about what happened after that.

  421. Yes.

  422. And as you said, the the Westphalia proclamation and freedom, it freed everybody up too.

  423. We weren't gonna take your taxes, we weren't gonna require you to have to do it this way, you were on your own.

  424. And that as a result, it just took off, you know.

  425. Okay.

  426. Here's another one.

  427. Where's James?

  428. Reese.

  429. James sent me a question.

  430. Jesus warns five of the Revelation churches to repent.

  431. As an individual believer, I understand repentance.

  432. I have a change of mind and turn from sinful behavior.

  433. Right?

  434. That's repentance.

  435. You change your mind, you go in a different direction.

  436. Okay?

  437. How does col how does a collective group of believers or a church, a whole church, address repentance?

  438. How do you get a whole that's your question, right?

  439. What are your thoughts?

  440. We have to be very careful.

  441. Repentance is not a work, act of works.

  442. Repentance is a change of mindset.

  443. And if you don't understand that, then you get into a works-based mentality.

  444. Yeah.

  445. Revival is a part of the Holy Church.

  446. Individual work of the Holy Spirit.

  447. I know right now there seems to be like a revival thing going around countries and things that even can't revival.

  448. So you could have a larger member maybe in a in a revival bank.

  449. We think we're good.

  450. We think we're all good.

  451. You know, I didn't go out here and rob a bank and do this or that, or and I don't cuss very much.

  452. But but it but in I just gave up swearing like a pleasure.

  453. I'm telling you.

  454. And you you know, that's that's the way somebody here.

  455. But but in coaching, what do you do?

  456. You have to first teach your players how to think before you can teach them how to do.

  457. And that's the whole thing for repentance.

  458. That's why Paul goes through all of those epistles and says, I want to tell you how to do, but before you do that, I got to tell you how to think.

  459. And if you don't think properly about what your position is, then you're not gonna be able to do properly.

  460. So where do you get that, David?

  461. Well, you the whole the whole of God.

  462. That's the only thing.

  463. Prayer in the Word, and again, you know, my life first is 2 Timothy 2, 7.

  464. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding and everything.

  465. Not you will get it.

  466. Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy but to trust and obey.

  467. But you can't you can't trust and obey until you think properly.

  468. And that's the whole point of that's the whole point of repentance, is God, you know what Dr.

  469. Bennett used to say, he changed your want tour.

  470. But that guy went out there on that field and did what I told him to do.

  471. But he had to believe that first.

  472. He had to believe in what I was saying, yeah.

  473. Or he wouldn't go out there and do it.

  474. What did you say?

  475. It's the Holy Spirit.

  476. Yeah.

  477. He's the one who's working for each individual, and he can start a fire.

  478. If one Sunday school class catches on fire, sometimes it can go through the whole church because there's the Holy Spirit is moving, and he he affects other people while the whole church can come to the whole church.

  479. I think also it's I think in a lot of these churches he's addressing the leadership.

  480. That's what I answered.

  481. The individuals in most of the churches are following the leadership, you know, and you get the wrong leadership like a Jezebel or a what was the other one?

  482. Balaam or Balaam, you know if you notice a lot of these things are leadership issues, and it and you it's it's a leadership thing, and it's just like a country, you know, and so but but individually, yeah, I think it starts, but I think yes.

  483. Can it not be each individual person and how you can examine yourself where you are with your love?

  484. If you've lost your first love, because I've done that.

  485. I think it's like uh Cindy also said I found myself in different parts of those churches, and then we can't come back.

  486. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  487. Yeah, I think you're right.

  488. All of those things, yeah.

  489. Like Cindy was saying, like a revival.

  490. Like we had Mordecai Ham came through here back in the 30s.

  491. It it was individually through the Holy Spirit, but it was a revival fire.

  492. And there were a lot of men saved in this town.

  493. Yeah.

  494. Wasn't he supposed to stay a week and he stayed for?

  495. The thing is, none of us come calm.

  496. We can't think right as a sinner.

  497. We can't we cannot see right as a sinner.

  498. We're in darkness and spiritual blindness.

  499. No man comes to him unless the father draws him through the Holy Spirit.

  500. Right.

  501. And that that's the thing.

  502. And he gives us our faith.

  503. You know, we have to be willing.

  504. We can't repent what unless the Father draws us through the Holy Spirit.

  505. Yeah.

  506. That's the thing.

  507. He convicts you.

  508. Right.

  509. And and if you if you don't like it, what do you what does the scripture say we do?

  510. If you don't like it, you stay in sin.

  511. Yeah, and what what do you you don't like the truth?

  512. Romans says, what do what do we do?

  513. We judge truth.

  514. We pray.

  515. Suppress it.

  516. We suppress it.

  517. And then you get a hard heart.

  518. The more you suppress the truth, your heart becomes hard.

  519. Right, you become hard.

  520. Yes, what?

  521. Kind of like um we were just reading Ezra and Maya, they did a bunch of work, and then we want to read the law.

  522. And it wasn't really until Ezra kind of conflicted them by reading the law.

  523. All people were like, oh yeah, we've really not been getting this right.

  524. But then even after that, they still were kind of messing up and you know, marrying, you know, born women and stuff.

  525. And so they didn't really have that internal heart change.

  526. The the deal in Jeremiah prophesied about, you know, them having renewed heart by the Holy Spirit hadn't really happened yet for them.

  527. Yeah.

  528. Good deal.

  529. That was a great.

  530. Okay, so those are the condemnations uh that we looked at.

  531. Remember, there was judgments and warnings as we as we go through those.

  532. Uh your lampstand's gonna be removed.

  533. Could God into church?

  534. Could Jesus enter church?

  535. Shut it down?

  536. Yeah, he could remove the lampstand.

  537. He can do it.

  538. You're not doing what I want, and he warns you.

  539. Um do not fear.

  540. Uh no, here it is.

  541. Uh coming trial prison.

  542. Remember the ten days of testing?

  543. Just hang in there.

  544. It's only 10 days.

  545. Remember the Roman law?

  546. They didn't put him on death road five years later, execute them.

  547. It was 10 days back then.

  548. And it was quick, and he just said, You hang in there, you hang in there because uh do not fear, be be faithful unto death.

  549. Why?

  550. Because there's a crown of life.

  551. You can just keep going down.

  552. There's a crown, you're gonna receive a crown.

  553. And there's actually a crown, there's a gift, there is a reward for suffering, uh, a specific reward that you will receive if you die for Christ.

  554. So he encourages them.

  555. War with the sword of his mouth, unless you repent, uh, sickbed of tribulation, death of your children.

  556. Remember in Thy Tyre?

  557. That that was interesting, wasn't it?

  558. I thought that sickbed thing.

  559. Remember?

  560. It was Constantinople and Rome.

  561. The Black Death came in, it wiped out 40% and 60%.

  562. And out of that, you know, a lot of the priests all died and there was nobody to minister, and out of that came the Reformation, you know.

  563. I mean, when you see things like that, it makes you think, God, this this does seem to be a timeline thing.

  564. Look at all, look at all the overcomers' promises.

  565. So these are, you know, we talked about a remnant.

  566. Here are some things that we have to look forward to.

  567. If you want to know, if you you're hanging in there, you're gonna make it to the end, finish the race.

  568. All this line across there, the overcomers, these are the things we have to look forward to.

  569. And what are they?

  570. Eat from the tree of life.

  571. By the way, it talks about that when we get to Revelation 22.

  572. Did you know the tree of life pops up again?

  573. When we're in this place, when we're in this place, the tree of life will be there.

  574. Giving off fruit, giving off fruit.

  575. One every month.

  576. But I thought there was no time in heaven.

  577. Well, now we're talking months.

  578. What's the deal?

  579. We will get into all this.

  580. You'll get the crown of life, no harm from the second death.

  581. We all, I mean, that's a special crown for those who are persecuted, but we are gonna get the crown.

  582. Hidden manna.

  583. What's hidden mana?

  584. Manna.

  585. Sorry, I got this uh you remember what manna is, right?

  586. Egypt and they kept them the food.

  587. What's hidden manna?

  588. Yeah, I mean, we're gonna have food.

  589. This is a spiritual food that we you that we're gonna get.

  590. A white stone with a new name.

  591. You're probably gonna get a new name.

  592. I think uh one of them, uh Stephen mentions, did you know Jesus gets a new name?

  593. And everybody goes, well, what is that?

  594. Well, nobody it says nobody knows.

  595. We're not gonna know him as Jesus Christ.

  596. When we get to heaven, when we get to this place, we're gonna know him with a different name.

  597. Did you know that?

  598. It's not gonna be Jesus Christ.

  599. It's gonna be a new name.

  600. We don't know what it is, but it's written on his thigh.

  601. Yeah.

  602. Pretty exciting, eh?

  603. We got a lot to look forward to.

  604. What's your name?

  605. I mean, my grandson asked me this morning, uh, driving over here.

  606. My grandson asked me, uh, Papa, what's your real name?

  607. What's your real name?

  608. I said, Ian.

  609. And of course, my wife said, no, no, no, not Ian.

  610. He wants to know what your full name is.

  611. And so I said, uh, well, it's Ian Raymond Bullock.

  612. He goes, yeah.

  613. And then he asked, well, what's my what's Nana's real name?

  614. So we told her.

  615. And then I'm walking across the parking lot and I go, Sammy, what's my real name?

  616. And he goes, Ian Rachel Bullock.

  617. I go, um, no, no.

  618. That just happened.

  619. That just happened 30 minutes ago.

  620. Oh my.

  621. Okay, look at look at look under Sayatara.

  622. Look at the overcomer's promise.

  623. What are we gonna do?

  624. Yeah, did you know you're gonna work for the government?

  625. The government.

  626. The real government.

  627. Did you know that?

  628. You're all gonna have government jobs?

  629. That's what it says.

  630. We're gonna rule the nations.

  631. We're gonna be ruling over angels.

  632. Like that.

  633. We will get into that.

  634. We will get into that.

  635. It's it's neat stuff.

  636. The pay will be fantastic.

  637. Yeah, the pay will be awesome.

  638. And the retirement will be oh my god.

  639. There's no retirement.

  640. And the health is health benefits.

  641. You don't need them.

  642. Look at Sardis, you'll be will be clothed in white, and your names will be kept in the book of life.

  643. So you're gonna be recorded for all of history.

  644. All of history, your names are gonna be recorded.

  645. Look at Philadelphia, we are made a pillar in God's temple.

  646. Permanently.

  647. Anything we receive in here, you'll never lose.

  648. It's permanent.

  649. Everything you receive now, all the stuff, is temporary.

  650. Everything we receive there, you'll never lose it.

  651. That's your inheritance.

  652. We have an inheritance that's coming.

  653. Remember, you remember Philadelphia?

  654. The pillar?

  655. You remember that?

  656. Remember this.

  657. Remember what was Philadelphia known for?

  658. Earthquakes.

  659. Yeah.

  660. Earthquakes.

  661. You remember?

  662. And the pillars falling on them and everything, you know, and they spent most of their time out in the country.

  663. I was like, I'm not going back there.

  664. The pillars are going to fall on us.

  665. So you see, you see the link here that he's using?

  666. And then that last one, we're going to sit with Christ on his throne.

  667. We're not going to sit on the throne, we're going to sit with him.

  668. Ruling in his kingdom.

  669. And by the way, that kingdom is not in the clouds, playing hot.

  670. You know, that's not it.

  671. It'll be very much like it is now.

  672. Except it'll be completely redone.

  673. I mean, I don't think you realize that.

  674. A lot of us don't realize.

  675. We're coming back here.

  676. This is the this is where it starts, the kingdom place.

  677. And then when we get to 22, it's a new, then the then there'll be a new heaven and a new earth.

  678. We're coming back to a refurbished earth.

  679. And we're going to get a brand new one in 22.

  680. Refurbished.

  681. Remodel.

  682. Yeah, it's going to be like my Volkswagen, remodeled.

  683. Like new.

  684. No, not really.

  685. Yes.

  686. Questions?

  687. I'm done.

  688. Now it's your turn.

  689. So in regards to what we were just discussing, I've had discussions with James and myself have had many a discussion about this.

  690. When he is of the opinion that the earth will be purified and pretty much stay the same, I'm of the opinion that it's exactly the way it says.

  691. It'll be completely wiped out.

  692. A whole new earth will be created, and then it will be given to us.

  693. Is there a right or wrong on that?

  694. Is that Yeah, there is.

  695. We're going to get there, but there's not going to be a sun or a moon.

  696. There's going to be Jesus is going to be the light of the.

  697. Well, that's going to, that's all, they're all folding away.

  698. They're going to be burnt up.

  699. Let me uh let me just mention this.

  700. If you really, I mean, in the we're getting when we're going through Revelation and we will get to, we'll get to the thousand-year millennium time.

  701. There's not a lot, there's not a lot in Revelation written about the millennium.

  702. Now do you know why that is?

  703. Why is only a short amount, a short, a little short segment written in in the book of Revelation about the millennium.

  704. Because it's all in Isaiah.

  705. Because it's all everything you want to know about the millennium is all back in Isaiah and Ezekiel and all those.

  706. And you want to know about it?

  707. I mean, yeah.

  708. It's mind-blowing.

  709. You know where it talks about the lion will lay down with the lamb and the children will be playing in a hole and there'll be snakes and and the the what does it say?

  710. The viper won't.

  711. That that's that's all talking about this.

  712. That's all talking about this period of time.

  713. Now, is there a whole another one after this coming?

  714. Yes, there is.

  715. A brand new one.

  716. A whole uh it says a new heaven and a new earth.

  717. But the but the this particular one is gonna be it's like those uh like we talked about.

  718. He's gonna reverse it.

  719. Jesus is gonna reverse it back to like the Garden of Eden.

  720. 2.0.

  721. He's gonna go back to what it was like at the Garden of Eden at the Garden of Eden.

  722. Did they eat fruit?

  723. Did they walk around?

  724. Did they have water?

  725. Did they farm?

  726. Did they Yeah.

  727. We may all be farmers if we're not in the government.

  728. During a thousand years, Satan even comes back at the end of it because there's people born.

  729. Yes, that's exactly right.

  730. No Christ, not accepted Christ.

  731. Yeah.

  732. We get I tell you what, guys, you you got some exciting things to ahead of you.

  733. What we're gonna be looking at, and Stephen brings out this, it's very, very exciting.

  734. Very, if you haven't thought this way before, you're gonna really really neat.

  735. Anything else?

  736. I notice with every church uh it says he who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.

  737. That was in each and every one of them.

  738. Right.

  739. Yeah.

  740. And that's what I was thinking myself, is this over my head?

  741. No, no, no, you don't don't read into it more than what you what do you think it said?

  742. Listen up.

  743. That's it.

  744. That's it.

  745. Yeah, it's like the coaching.

  746. You hear me, boy?

  747. You hear me?

  748. Glabbing the helmet.

  749. You hear me?

  750. You hear what I'm talking about?

  751. That's what he said.

  752. He who hasn't here, let him hear it.

  753. You know, pay attention.

  754. Now you can you want to read more into that?

  755. You can if you want, but I think it's pretty clear.

  756. Pay attention.

  757. Listen.

  758. Hear.

  759. That's great.

  760. I'm glad you brought that up.

  761. Anything else?

  762. If you have a chance to do that every day, and you get that work, you get off and you read, and here it is.

  763. Yeah.

  764. I mean, do we do that?

  765. You know, every day.

  766. Just take it.

  767. I can't start my day unless you know I do.

  768. Yeah.

  769. And you say, where do I start?

  770. You know what?

  771. Well, the neat here's the encouraging thing.

  772. You all you we are all doing it, right?

  773. I mean, what are we doing here?

  774. We're paying attention.

  775. We're listening.

  776. We're we're we're studying a book that m most most pastors and churches don't even talk about.

  777. And we're jumping into it.

  778. We're we're learning it.

  779. And and you're doing a great job, you know.

  780. I mean, it's I think the key is are you asking God to show you truth?

  781. It's one thing for us to listen, then we gotta ask for God to give us understanding, or we're not gonna get it anyway.

  782. So we're not in here to tell you this is this is what it is.

  783. It's us to talk about it, but it's you guys' job to pray, God, if I'm missing something or I'm not thinking right, would you give me understanding?

  784. Or if I if it is this not this way, then I want to know what it is, and that's what I want to follow.

  785. So that's the whole key to anything is is having the right heart attitude to ask God for truth.

  786. Too much of us, and me included, want to talk down to people when you think you know something more than they know, and that is not the right way to do things.

  787. Because every one of us makes mistakes, and as we get into this in the next couple of weeks, you're gonna find out that somebody as sharp as Daniel missed the scripture.

  788. So if he can miss it, I guarantee you I can miss it.

  789. Yeah, I think it's kind of uncanny, isn't it?

  790. That what uh Greg talked about Sunday?

  791. And the week before.

  792. Well, that's where we're going next week.

  793. Your lesson you'll get Friday is on Daniel chapter 2.

    Daniel 2 chapter mention

  794. And then and then the one after that will be on seven and nine.

  795. Well, what uh the thing is, the next two weeks, in my opinion, are the most important parts to where we're headed.

  796. Because if you don't grasp the next two weeks that we're gonna be into Daniel, then you're not gonna get the rest of the book.

  797. That's the whole key to what we're gonna do.

  798. So you if you're gonna spend any extra time digging in the next two weeks, you need to dig in.

  799. I've listened to some of these videos 10 or 12, 15 times to be able to grasp little pieces that I want along with the Bible, along with it.

  800. But I mean, that's what he's using.

  801. But Daniel is the key to Revelation, one of the books, and of course the other Old Testament books along with it.

  802. But this is this is gonna be the big stuff.

  803. You need to dig in on what we're gonna do the next two weeks because it's gonna be used for the rest of Revelation.

  804. Okay.

  805. Anything else?

  806. Okay, this is a wise chance.

  807. Hey, this is a great piece to keep right here.

  808. This is a great cheat sheet.

  809. I would keep that in my my Bible.

  810. It's good reference over and over and over.

  811. I keep thinking about how you know when you as long as you study to the day you die, you're a perpetual student in the Bible because you can read the same thing, the same verses, at different times in your life, and it's almost purpose and understanding of what the Lord puts in you to understand at that time.

  812. And I'm always struck by the fact about you know, years ago, I thought the verse meant one thing, but there's all these layers to it, and the more you peel off, you dive into a layer, and the next time you read it, you don't understand like a child anymore.

  813. You understand as an adult.

  814. Understand as right here, you know.

  815. It's just you never can.

  816. It's it's a perpetual study and a perpetual enrichment and perpetual understanding that's granted.

  817. And I just I'm real grateful to you all for taking this on because this is deep stuff, and we're all gonna learn a lot.

  818. It's gonna be easier than what you think if you just stay into it.

  819. It's gonna start making so much sense.

  820. One of the things you're talking about, Jesus is the word.

  821. So, okay, think about eternity.

  822. You're gonna have the opportunity to be with God forever, and he's gonna be continually revealing himself continually, the word, and you're still not gonna know him.

  823. You're gonna know him more, but you're still not gonna know him.

  824. And hey, I'm thankful for that.

  825. I we got a God that's so big, if we could figure, if we could come up with one day how to figure him out, he wouldn't be much of a God.

  826. You know, he's big, extremely large.

  827. Aren't we blessed to have this nation where we can do all things?

  828. We are so blessed.

  829. To whom much is given?

  830. Well, that's us.

  831. Yeah.

  832. We have a we have a huge responsibility.

  833. I think that's why he calls teachers and people in leadership to lead to a different standard.

  834. Because so much rests on the leadership.

  835. That's right.

  836. Okay, David, you want to close this?

  837. Sure.

  838. Then we'll finish.

  839. Man, God, we're so blessed to be in your presence.

  840. And where your scripture says we're two or more gathered in your name, there you are also.

  841. We feel your presence in amongst us.

  842. We ask you to work as only you can, Holy Spirit.

  843. And we ask for understanding, as uh your word says in in James 1.5, that you will not withhold.

  844. You abundantly will share with us wisdom, understanding, and I pray that you would give us all understanding to take in what we're hearing in our spirit, and to be able to just beg for you to show us.

  845. Ask Holy Spirit to give us understanding as only you can.

  846. And I think your words pretty plain is that you'll show us and we'll have understanding so that we can not only know you, but make you known.

  847. So we thank you for that.

  848. We thank you that you are God Almighty and that we're not.

  849. What a great God you are.

  850. We bless you, honor you, praise you, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  851. Amen.
