Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the First Samuel Bible
-
Study with Matthew and Rachel. Good stuff. Boy, we really
-
had a good stuff with Psalm 23, so if you
-
didn't listen to Psalm 23, you're going to be literally
-
out in the woods. But this is good stuff. This
-
is really why Well, I can't say it is the reason.
-
It is a reason why that David penned Being Moved
-
with the Holy Spirit, Psalm 23. So, kind of a
-
lengthy chapter here. We're over 21 verses, so it's a
-
big chapter. So I don't need to sit here and,
-
you know, for 20 minutes. I think you should. I
-
really don't think I should, so What's your thoughts after reading?
-
Did you hit record? Yeah, I hit record. Why are
-
you second-guessing me? Yes, I hit record. I'm sure I did.
-
It's recording.
-
Okay.
-
Just making sure. No, you're gaslighting me. Okay. That's a
-
private joke. Rachel says that to me all the time.
-
I'm not gaslighting you. The other day, there was a
-
light bulb burned out in the bathroom for so long.
-
It was like for ages, right? So I change it,
-
and she comes in there, and oh my goodness. What
-
did you do? Did you add a light? You're gaslighting.
-
You didn't change a light bulb. You're gaslighting me. I
-
was gaslighting you. So, boy. The bride really is being
-
gaslit when it comes to Bible prophecy. This is pretty important. Literally,
-
Psalm 23 is fulfilled here. And it says so many
-
things in so many different ways in Psalm 23 that
-
applies to this, especially the green pastures. Because when you
-
got in the green pastures off of the mountainsides, that's
-
where That's where the predators lie is in the brush
-
and in the trees. So when you come out onto the,
-
the valley to graze, that's when you get, that's when
-
you get taken. So anyway, um, what did you think
-
about this baby? Well, um, hmm.
-
What did they think about it? I, It definitely was
-
following along with the idea of God being David's shepherd,
-
guiding him through this whole ordeal, the exact path. I
-
do have a question. Is Keilah in Zipf?
-
Is it in?
-
Israelite territory or is that like outside.
-
Of Israelite territory? It's outside of Judah. It's outside of.
-
I mean, is it outside of the land that God
-
gave to the Israelites? No.
-
Well, God gave the land of the Philistines to the Israelites.
-
Right.
-
So... So, yeah. So, yes, it is. It's definitely in
-
the Promised Land, yes.
-
Okay.
-
Yeah, it's definitely in the Promised Land. But, you know, this...
-
this opening diatribe is just so, why did you do this?
-
You risk your life and limb for these people. Anyway,
-
it just shows you what we're supposed to be doing
-
up until the event. We're supposed, you know, we spread
-
the gospel, we minister to people. That's what we do,
-
even still. And it's just a trip, this opening diatribe.
-
And while they may be Betray us.
-
Oh, they will.
-
It's like the peril of the dragnet.
-
Amen, baby.
-
You know, we're just supposed to get any fish that
-
we can find.
-
That's our job.
-
And God is the one who will.
-
Sort it out later. Boy, that can be a painful process.
-
Feeling the sting of that here today. Really close. So anyway,
-
why don't you start reading this right from the beginning.
-
It's just, man, these first 13 verses are so apropos.
-
Take it away, baby.
-
Then they told David, saying, Look, the Philistines are fighting
-
against Kelah, and they are robbing the threshing floors. Therefore
-
David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and
-
attack these Philistines? And the Lord said to David, Go
-
and attack the Philistines and save Keilah. But David's men
-
said to him, Look, we are afraid here in Judah.
-
How much more if we go to Keilah against the
-
armies of the Philistines? Then David inquired of the Lord
-
once again, and the Lord answered him and said, Arise,
-
Go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines
-
into your hand. And David and his men went to
-
Keilah and fought against the Philistines, struck them with a
-
mighty blow, and took away their livestock. So David saved
-
the inhabitants of Keilah.
-
So stop. This is why I answered the way I
-
answered it. Okay. It's not elaborating. He's not telling you.
-
whether it's in Israel or not, he does tell you
-
it's not in Judah. But David's men said, look, we
-
are afraid here in Judah. How much more if we
-
go to Kelah against the armies of the Philistines? He
-
just wants you to know you're supposed to know David's
-
home is Judah. That's where his land is. That's where
-
his home is. And This is somewhere else other than that.
-
So yes, it's somewhere in the promised land, but not
-
in Judah. Okay, so go ahead.
-
Now it happened when Abiathar, the son of Ahimelech, fled
-
to David at Keilah, that he went down with an
-
ephod in his hand. And Saul was told that David
-
had gone to Keilah, So Saul said, God has delivered
-
him into my hand, for he has shut himself in
-
by entering a town that has gates and bars. Then
-
Saul called all the people together for war to go
-
down to Keilah to besiege David.
-
And his men.
-
When David knew that Saul plotted evil against him, he
-
said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod here. Then
-
David said, O Lord God of Israel, your servant has
-
certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to
-
destroy the city for my sake. Will the men of
-
Keilah deliver me into his hands? Will Saul come down
-
as your servant has heard? O Lord, God of Israel,
-
I pray, tell your servant. And the Lord said, He
-
will come down. Then David said, Will the men of
-
Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?
-
And the Lord said, They will deliver you. So David
-
and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from
-
Keilah and went wherever they could go. Then it was
-
told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah, so he
-
halted the expedition.
-
Okay, this is extremely prophetic. This is talking about the
-
great apostasy. No doubt about it, it's the people inside
-
the church that's going to hand you over and make
-
a martyr out of you. It is amazing here that
-
he goes to Kilah. But why don't you tell me
-
what happened at Kilah?
-
Philistines were attacking them and robbing their threshing floors.
-
And what did David do?
-
He went in and rescued them.
-
He rescued them. And then what did they do?
-
They continued to let him stay there, but they... God
-
said that they were planning to hand him over because
-
Saul was going to come and destroy their city. So
-
people of Keilah were afraid of Saul instead of realizing
-
that God was with David and not Saul.
-
Okay, so that bothers you, huh?
-
I don't know. I think it bothers you. Well.
-
I mean, it's... Here is... When we take a look
-
at this, okay... This is Saul's name. Then it was
-
told to Saul that David had escaped from Kelah. So
-
obviously the people of Kelah already had an agreement with Saul.
-
Already they'd made this deal. We'll take note. I'm going
-
to switch over to the Hebrew and I'm going to
-
point it out to you. This is Saul's name. See
-
Saul right there? See how it is? Shin-oleth-vov-lamet.
-
Right?
-
I'm going to show you where the pact is made. Okay. So,
-
you see there Saul's name, right?
-
Okay.
-
See it? I'm showing you the Hebrew. Read for me
-
the verse.
-
Because you have said we made a covenant with death
-
and with Sheol in our... We are in agreement. When
-
the overflowing... scourge passes through it will not come to
-
us for we have made lies our refuge and under
-
falsehood we have hidden ourselves.
-
That doesn't say saul does it it says she yo
-
because it's the same word okay it's the same word
-
literally what's prophetically being stated here isaiah here we could
-
go ahead and read through this whole thing but you
-
understand that that they've made a pact with Saul. They've
-
made a pact with death. We've talked about this many
-
times in 1 Samuel. Saul is the Antichrist. Right.
-
And I think this is apropos with our day and
-
age because a lot of times people will think that
-
they are doing the right thing when it is absolutely
-
the evil thing. They think that they're supporting a right
-
cause that's actually an evil cause made to appear what's right.
-
It says that Saul himself even said, God has delivered
-
him into my hand, for he has shut himself in.
-
by entering a town that has gates and bars. So
-
even Saul himself had convinced himself that he was on
-
a mission from God. And so I'm sure that the
-
people of Keilah had convinced themselves that they were doing
-
a service to God instead of evil.
-
So I need you to show you something. Saul did
-
not say the name of God.
-
Oh, he didn't?
-
He said Elohim. The Elohim has delivered him into my hand.
-
How is that different?
-
That's too much to bite off. Okay?
-
Well, he obviously brought it up.
-
So I was like, what does that, what do you mean?
-
You have to tell me now.
-
I have to tell you now?
-
Yeah, because you brought it up. Now you have to
-
tell me.
-
This word, when it's used, means God's will being executed
-
through his divine counsel, which is angels.
-
Okay.
-
So he did not say the Tetragramma Con. He did
-
not say YHVH delivered David into my hand because he
-
knew full well that ain't going to happen.
-
So he used a generic term. Like the heavens have
-
done this for me.
-
Let me finish. Okay, so that, okay, we understand. I
-
just read to you, well, you read from Isaiah 28,
-
and it said that they make this pact with death
-
so that when the scourge passes through, 1 Samuel loudly
-
said who that was. The scourge was the Philistines, right?
-
Right?
-
The Philistines worshipped an angel. That's who their gods were.
-
Their gods were these fallen angels. So this is why
-
Saul here states, not God, Elohim, the mechanism that's supposed... Anyway,
-
let me make a long story short. You need to
-
understand that God repeatedly said the reason why the Philistines
-
were there is because they rebelled. They were there because
-
God himself said, that I will deliver you into their hands.
-
So by them using this phraseology in Hebrew, they're saying
-
that we know that God has delivered us into the
-
hands and his scourge is the Philistines. This is an
-
answer to what God has told us repeatedly. But they've
-
rejected God outright, rejected him. They don't, you know, we've,
-
I mean, first Samuel's literally said that over and over
-
and over and over and over and over again. So
-
you need to know behind the scenes that, The people
-
of Kalah had made an agreement with death, so they
-
thought they were getting out of the divine judgment from God,
-
from the God, not Elohim.
-
Okay?
-
I just gave too much information. Okay. Okay.
-
So, okay. But I understand more of what you're trying
-
to say. I thought you were trying to say that
-
they were using a generic form of God instead of
-
saying his name. you're saying that they were actually talking
-
about some angel that they were worshipping.
-
Yes, and they knew that God was allowing this angel
-
to deliver them into the hands of the Philistines. It
-
was the angel who was using the Philistines. They were
-
being judged by these angels through the Philistines. That's what
-
it's saying. Okay?
-
I'm so confused about I think we should probably move on.
-
No, we got a comment. I just saw something. Jennifer
-
says it feels like an effort to shift the power
-
from God to the angels by calling him a specific name.
-
Let me explain this one more time. Now, both Jennifer
-
and you are confused. Okay. God told them repeatedly. If
-
you do not obey me, I will deliver you into
-
the hands of your enemies. Okay? How this was done.
-
They knew that an angel would stir up the Philistines
-
to attack them and oppress them. So they would never
-
dare insinuate God. Not unless you wanted to be killed
-
on the spot.
-
Okay?
-
So they were saying... We know that the Philistines are
-
doing this because their God told them to, but we
-
know that their God really ain't no God. It's really
-
an angel from God that has deceived them into oppressing
-
us because we reject the word. We reject it.
-
Okay, so they're saying that this angel changed his mind
-
and wasn't doing what God wanted?
-
Man, you don't listen. You need to listen, okay?
-
I am. You're just saying a lot.
-
The angel isn't doing anything wrong. God told the angel,
-
go be a deceiving spirit and get the Philistines to
-
attack my people because they won't do what I say. Okay? Okay.
-
Yes or no? I'll explain it again if I have to. No, okay.
-
You don't need to see that. No, no, you don't
-
need to see that.
-
Okay.
-
That right there, the comment that Carol put in, is
-
too much information. Don't look at it. So you understand.
-
This is why everything here in Hebrew is very calculated.
-
And Saul dare not say God's proper name. You understand?
-
This is why it started out by saying God's people
-
were being oppressed by the Philistines. That was because God
-
said so. And the Israelites were mad at God because
-
they rejected what he said so he was punishing them.
-
And they were never going to do what he said.
-
They didn't care.
-
Right?
-
So that's why Saul was very calculated in his response.
-
That's why everything happened the way it happened. Because God
-
had sent this angel to stir up the Philistines To
-
go discipline his people. And they didn't like it.
-
Okay. So.
-
That was a mouthful.
-
But then God sent. David to rescue him. To rescue them.
-
From his wrath.
-
Very good. Yes.
-
And they turned around and bit the hand that feeds them.
-
And the point here is, remember, in Hebrew, this doesn't
-
say saw, it says death. Death. Death is what they wanted.
-
They didn't want David. They didn't want Tom, Dick, and Harry.
-
We read it. We read it ourselves. They demanded Saul.
-
They wanted Saul. Even Samuel said, look, man, he's going
-
to take your kids. He's going to do this. He's
-
going to do that. They demanded death. This is why
-
God says you choose death instead of life. Because Jesus
-
Christ said, I am the what? The life. They wanted Saul.
-
And Saul's name is Sheol.
-
It's death.
-
So this is why if you've ever studied the Antichrist
-
and you never studied Saul, you didn't know what you
-
were talking about. That's why. You were completely clueless. Okay?
-
So now you understand. God says this all over the place.
-
He says, if you don't do what I say, I
-
will deliver you into the hands of your enemies.
-
Yes.
-
And you're supposed to know in other places it gives
-
directions as to how that happens. So, okay. All right.
-
So that being said, I will try not to get
-
too deep next time. I'm just saying too much, ain't I?
-
Yeah.
-
But you all needed to see this. You all at
-
least needed to see this. Samuel did not use God's name.
-
He said Elohim. And he said that because he knew,
-
he thought this angel that had stirred up the Philistines
-
had delivered David into his hand. So, okay, verse 14.
-
And David stayed in the strongholds in the wilderness and
-
remained in the mountains in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul
-
sought him every day. but God did not deliver him
-
into his hand. So David saw that Saul had come
-
out to seek his life, and David was in the
-
wilderness of Ziph in a forest. Then Jonathan, Saul's son,
-
arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened
-
his hand in God. And he said to him, Do
-
not fear. For the hand of Saul my father shall
-
not find you. You shall be king over Israel and
-
I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul
-
knows that.
-
So the.
-
Two of them made a covenant before the Lord and
-
David stayed in the woods and Jonathan went to his
-
own house.
-
So even the heir knew God said David. And you
-
also need to realize that Ziph means flowing. It means
-
to flow. So, that's pretty prophetic, of course, in the
-
simple fact that this is the Holy Spirit.
-
What does it mean when it says that Jonathan strengthened
-
his hand in God? What does that mean?
-
What do you think it means?
-
Why does it say that?
-
I don't know.
-
Strengthen his hand in God?
-
Who is it talking about? It's not talking about David.
-
It's talking about Jonathan. Okay. It's not talking about David.
-
It's saying that God gave Jonathan the strength to do this.
-
Because this was suicide. You know that. Saul tried to
-
kill his own son. You know that. So, I'll let
-
that lie right there. I just can't, you know, I
-
can't go on a great big... Right. I'm so tempted
-
I could go on right now for an hour.
-
But this is definitely allegory to end times, obviously, between
-
the church goers and the ones who are truly born
-
again in Christ and this relationship that will be happening
-
at that time.
-
Okay. I can't go into this deeply, okay?
-
I wasn't saying that. We have to. We don't have to.
-
I mean, I'm just saying that this is.
-
Read this. Read verse 17 again. Well, read 16, 17 again.
-
Then Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David in
-
the woods and strengthened his hand in God. And he
-
said to him, Do not fear, for the hand of Saul,
-
my father, shall not bind you.
-
You shall.
-
Be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you.
-
Even my father Saul knows that.
-
Read the next one.
-
So the two of them made a covenant before the Lord,
-
and David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to
-
his own house.
-
Okay, just relax your mind for a minute, okay? I'm
-
not going to try to overwhelm you. This never happened,
-
did it? Never happened. David never sat on his throne.
-
And Jonathan never sat beside him as if Jonathan was
-
his heir. That never happened.
-
Yet.
-
This is prophetically telling you. I can't get too deep
-
in this. Just create information overload. It is saying here
-
that there's going to be... There's going to be two
-
different mechanisms, two different ruling things when it comes to
-
Jesus when he sits on his throne. He says this.
-
He says that he will rule with a rod of iron.
-
That rod of iron is comprised of two different sticks.
-
I can't get into it. It's too much information overload.
-
But you know what Jonathan was saying here, that there's
-
coming a time when even though Boy, I'm saying too
-
much as it is. This never happened. Of course, Jonathan
-
was killed before David ever got to the throne. But
-
it will happen. And yes, this is in reference to
-
Rachel said the body of Christ. She said the church.
-
More importantly, what is meant here is the clergy. Jonathan
-
was in the clergy and it's saying that there are
-
members of the clergy who are going to rule with
-
Jesus Christ. You know all these things. Those are the
-
first resurrection. Those are the first resurrection in Revelation chapter
Revelation 20 chapter mention
-
20 is fulfilling what just came out of Jonathan's mouth.
-
They are Jonathan. Because here, The Lord is remembering what
-
happened that day.
-
Okay?
-
So this really is going to happen. It really is.
-
And it's trying to say that the heirs aren't physical relations.
-
The physical... Well, anyway, read on. I can't spend too
-
much time there.
-
Then the Zephites came up to Saul at Gedea, saying...
-
Is David not hiding with us in strongholds in the woods,
-
in the hill of Hatchulah, which is on the south
-
of Jeshimon? Now therefore, O king, come down according to
-
all the desire of your soul to come down, and
-
our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.
-
This is the great apostasy, people. Yes, it is. And
-
they will certainly fulfill what Jesus Christ said they're going
-
to do. Keep reading, baby.
-
And Saul said, Blessed are you of the Lord, for
-
you have compassion on me. Please go and find out
-
for sure and see the place where his hideout is
-
and who has seen him there. For I am told
-
he is very crafty. See therefore and take knowledge of
-
all the lurking places where he hides and come back
-
to me with certainty. and I will go with you
-
and it shall be if he is in the land
-
that I will search for him throughout all the clans
-
of Judah.
-
Stop. Here something else is being said. Take note that
-
it said, blessed of you are the Lord. Here, Saul
-
said God's name. And he said God's name for a reason.
-
For you have had compassion on me. He knows that
-
the people have done this out of compassion. They've done
-
this out of an innocent heart. So Saul says, God himself,
-
you're blessed of God because you did this out of compassion.
-
Just wanted to point that out. I'm not going to
-
elaborate on it. We don't have time for it. So anyway,
-
what's your thoughts on this?
-
Sounds like ordinary people who are listening to their Emotion
-
before they actually take time to listen to whether or
-
not God wants them to do something.
-
Yes. You must test the spirit, right? And take note.
-
It goes out of its way to tell you the
-
clans of Judah again. They're expecting David to be in Judah.
-
He's at home. Judas the church building so anyway that's
-
why I said this again throughout all the clans of
-
Judah so yeah I can't I can't I.
-
Won't you continue so they rose and went to Ziph
-
before Saul but David and his men were in the
-
wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
-
When Saul and his men went to seek him, they
-
told David. Therefore he went down to the rock and
-
stayed in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that,
-
he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon. Then Saul
-
went on one side of the mountain and David and
-
his men on the other side of the mountain. So
-
David made haste to get away from Saul. For Saul
-
and his men were encircling David and his men to
-
take them.
-
So take note. Maon in Hebrew means a boat. And
-
it's specifically when it's used generically, it not only means house,
-
it means the house of God.
-
So it's literally when Jesus and his disciples were on
-
the boat and the winds picked up.
-
And it was storming. Yeah, yes, it was that too. Yes,
-
it was that too. Yes, it was that too. So
-
what did you make of this, them going around the mountain?
-
By the way. Maon is prophetic for Zion. It's also
-
prophetic for God stretching his tabernacle over you. We talked
-
about that in Psalm 23, so I'm not going to
-
go into links about that. I don't know.
-
I saw you doing this, but I don't know.
-
They were chasing each other. So Saul was on one
-
side of the mountain, David was on the other, and
-
they were chasing each other.
-
Oh, I just like it.
-
Saul thought he was chasing David, but that's not what
-
was going on. David was chasing him. But anyway, so
-
we'll read it here. He said, Then Saul went on
-
the one side of the mountain, and David and his
-
men went on the other side of the mountain. So
-
David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul
-
and his men were encircling David and his men to
-
take them. They were going around. They were just sitting
-
there going around and around and around and around in
-
a circle. And it is telling you This is very prophetic.
-
I am going to take the time to do this
-
because the Spirit's moving. They need to understand the Judaist
-
and the Gilgal. This word here, encircling, they take it
-
to mean reincarnation. This is them, not me. The Judaists
-
say that the Messiah is Cyrus the Great. And whenever
-
the temple is rebuilt, get into the camera, whenever the
-
temple is rebuilt, okay, it's done by the spirit of Cyrus.
-
So they're literally saying that, of course, the second temple
-
was built with Zerubbabel. They say Zerubbabel was a reincarnated, understand, Messiah.
-
In Hebrew, when they read this, due to the alphanumerics,
-
They know here that Saul will be reincarnated. And they
-
also think David will be reincarnated. The word specifically says
-
they make a pact with death. They make a pact
-
with Sheol. Okay? Just go there and read it. I've
-
made hints to it before, but Let's go to Isaiah
Isaiah 28 chapter mention
-
chapter 28.
-
Okay.
-
Read verse 15 again.
-
Because you have said we have made a covenant with
-
death and with Sheol we are in agreement, when the
-
overflowing scourge passes through, it will not come to us,
-
for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood
-
we have hidden ourselves.
-
Literally, this says Saul. We have made a covenant with
-
death and with Saul. We are in agreement. Saul is
-
the king they want. They want nothing more than this.
-
They want nothing more than the reincarnated spirit of David
-
to be their king. They know this. They can see
-
it and they can know it. They know what God's saying.
-
So I said that they were being chased around Mount Zion, right?
-
Verse 16, therefore, says the Lord God, behold, I lay
-
in Zion a quarter stone for a foundation, a tribe,
-
a precious stone, a sure foundation. Whoever believes in it
-
will not act hastily. You know, this is quoted in
-
the New Testament. You know that.
-
But it says mayon. It doesn't say anything about.
-
I said mayon is Zion. I said that.
-
I don't remember what you said.
-
Yes, I specifically said that Mayon here prophetically is talking
-
about it's God's house. His abode is Zion. That's why
-
this switch is.
-
Okay, sorry. You didn't say the word Zion, so that
-
was why I was lost.
-
Yes, I did say it. Oh, well.
-
I'm sick, so that's my excuse.
-
That's your excuse. And I'm sticking with it. So read
-
first verse 18. Skip down. So there's too much information.
-
Skip down to verse 18.
-
Your covenant with death will be annulled and your agreement
-
with Sheol will not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through,
-
then you will be trampled down by it.
-
I'm not going to say anything more. This is the
-
pact with Saul. Anyway, yeah, this is just jam-packed with
-
Bible prophecy. but why don't you finish it? So now, oh,
-
by the way, so before you read it, okay, we'll
-
switch over here to the Hebrew. Okay. What you see here, messenger, right? Look,
-
what does messenger mean? It's an angel. It's an angel.
-
So I'm just telling you, I had to tell you
-
that before. I wasn't trying to create information overload about
-
the Elohim.
-
But a messenger came to Saul, saying, Hurry and come,
-
for the Philistines have invaded the land. Therefore Saul returned
-
from pursuing David and went against the Philistines. So they
-
called that place the Rock of Escape. Then David went
-
up from there and dwelt in the strongholds of En Gedi.
-
So here we have another name. another prophetic name for
-
the tabernacle of David. It's called the Rock of Escape.
-
So anyway, now that you see that, an angel came
-
to Saul, but this is a good translation, a messenger,
-
but this Hebrew is prophetic.
-
So where are we seen En Gedi before?
-
Who said we'd seen En Gedi before? Who said that?
-
I just, I remember it from somewhere.
-
You remember it from somewhere? Like a desert or something?
-
Am I wrong?
-
I thought I'd heard it somewhere, like in the New Testament.
-
You're the one remembering, not me.
-
I feel like....
-
Because this is the first time here it's been mentioned.
-
Well, there's a little A there, so let's see.
-
There's a little A? What do you mean? A little
-
A there.
-
Oh, yeah.
-
Well, what does the little A point you to?
-
Let's see.
-
It's in the future. It should give you reference to
-
the next chapter, right? No, it's 2 Chronicles. Yeah, that's
-
what you mean.
-
2 Chronicles 22.
-
Right, which is way after this. Before here, I think
-
it's mentioned in Joshua. Joshua wasn't in there? Where's your
-
little A? Where are you seeing it? Oh, 2 Chronicles. Yeah,
-
that's way after. Yeah, it's going to be.
-
Right there's the next one. It's in the next chapter
-
in verse 2. Anyway, so you're remembering the future. We
-
haven't got to it yet. But anyway, are you remembering,
-
you know?
-
I don't know why I was thinking there was something
-
in the adjustment. I'm probably wrong.
-
I'm probably wrong.
-
It actually reminded me of when Jesus went into the
-
wilderness to be tempted. know why.
-
Well, En Gedi means the eye of the fortunate. N
-
is eye. Gedi. Sometimes it's used as goat, but here
-
it means fortune. That comes from H1424. So anyway, we're
-
going to, it expands upon it next. It expands upon
-
it next. So anyway, this is a prophetic reference to
-
us being the apple of his eye.
-
Okay.
-
So, and that's in relationship to this angel, to this messenger.
-
Okay.
-
Let me read the whole thing. So remember, this starts
-
out with Melech, angel, says, but an angel came to
-
Saul saying, hurry and come for the Philistines have invaded
-
the land. Now take note, this is how the chapter started.
-
The Philistines are the scourge of God. That's who they are,
-
the scourge of God. So, take note, this angel that
-
was running the Philistines came to Saul and said, hey,
-
the Philistines have invaded the land. So Saul was absolutely
-
right earlier when he said Elohim. And then you realize
-
here that now the Elohim is deceiving him. And when
-
this happens, when this orchestra, because this is orchestrated, this
-
is an orchestra playing, and everybody's dancing to God's tune.
-
So he says, therefore, Saul returned from pursuing David and
-
went against the Philistines. whom David had already defeated in
-
the first verse. But anyway, so they called that place
-
the Rock of Escape because everybody knew God had ordered
-
this angel that was running the Philistines as a punishment
-
from God to deceive Saul into going to fight the Philistines.
-
instead of captured. So this is why it's called the
-
Rock of Escape. Then David went up from there and
-
dwelt in the strongholds at En Gedi. So pretty cool.
-
So I mean, that's why before you read it, I
-
wanted you to see what it's, you see messenger here
-
in English, but in Hebrew that's angel. It was this
-
Elohim from before. And this Elohim, they were all being
-
ran by who? God. The Tetragram of God. YHVH. So anyway.
-
And that's God the Father, right?
-
Yes.
-
God the Father.
-
So anyway, this is good prophetic stuff once you know
-
what it's talking about. Because if you don't know what
-
it's talking about, this is just a bunch of babbly book, right?
-
Just a bunch of yada, yada, yada. It doesn't mean
-
anything at all. And that is how they read it.
-
They read it as if it doesn't mean anything at all.
-
This is historical fiction to them. They don't even believe
-
that it's true.
-
It's no wonder they don't want to read it. I mean,
-
if you just think it's a story, then if you
-
read this thinking it's just a story, then you're going
-
to think, well, this is a poorly written story. Because
-
you're not reading the other parts that God's trying to
-
say in it. So that's why they don't read it.
-
Right, because they don't hear a single thing he's saying. Well,
-
I think I've made it perfectly obvious here that God
-
said everything here. He said everything here.
-
Yeah, he did. Everything is in here and more. That's
-
the preciousness of his word is that after you read it,
-
you can read it again and there's more. Yes. It's
-
part of the psalm that we read earlier today that
-
causes our cup to run over.
-
That's what.
-
This is. our cup runs over when we read the
-
scripture because we can read it again and even see
-
more each time.
-
Oh, I can see all the way to kingdom come
-
when I see it.
-
But you're still not done seeing stuff. And you proved
-
that time and again is that you can read something,
-
have been reading something over and over and over for
-
years and then still get something out of it. that's
-
the preciousness of God's word. But if you see it
-
as a story, then if somebody sees it as a story,
-
then they see it as a poorly written story because
-
the wording and the, and the way that things are phrased,
-
if it was just a story would have been phrased differently.
-
But we, I'm learning that when I read something that doesn't, isn't, um,
-
phrased as what I think it would have in a
-
regular story, it usually means there's something deeper there.
-
Yes. So if you're only reading the story.
-
You're not going to want to read it.
-
You're never going to know what it says if you're
-
just reading the story.
-
So that's why a lot of people don't read the Bible, because...
-
They think it's just... They're expecting it to be like
-
a novel.
-
When that's the last thing on earth it is.
-
Or if they don't think... If they're not expecting it
-
to be like a novel, they're expecting it to be
-
like a textbook, which it's also not. Right. Right.
-
Which it's also not.
-
But.
-
I say that in a different way. I've been saying
-
this since I was a teenager, that they read it
-
like it's a little golden book. To them, it's just
-
a story. And because of that, they literally have no
-
remote clue. They just... They don't have any remote clue
-
of what it's saying. So anyway.
-
So....
-
You want to read that? It says En Gedi.
-
Oh, from Song of Solomon. I wondered why you were
-
in the Song of Solomon.
-
I did it for your sake.
-
My beloved is to me a cluster of hen uplooms
-
in the vineyards of En Gedi.
-
We will bear fruit again, praise God. All right. That's
-
just about it for me. Um, Anybody have any questions
-
or comments? Of course, we can read Carol's comment now.
-
Now we're not in danger of information overload. So she
-
put in the Strong's definition for Elohim here. It's a
-
masculine noun. Translation count, 2,606 times. It's translated as God. uppercase,
-
God lowercase, judge, goddess, great mighty, angels, exceedingly, Godward or godly.
-
And then Joni puts in 1 John chapter 4, beloved
1 John 4 chapter mention
-
test every spirit. Test every spirit. So here, got all
-
kinds of things. Literally this whole chapter is being orchestrated
-
spirits now they're all being well God's playing chess with
-
all of us and.
-
So in that day when we flee there's no way
-
we can know on our own out of wisdom knowledge
-
or understanding where we should go we have got to
-
just push everything else out and just follow Christ and
-
Because he's our shepherd.
-
As our shepherd.
-
To lead us through it.
-
Right. Yes we do. And remember this is going to
-
be psychologically.
-
And people will. And clearly people will question. And say
-
they're afraid. And it's saying here. That it's okay to
-
ask God again. It's not going to strike us down.
-
If we're scared. And want to ask him again. Definitely.
-
And that is exemplified by literally David was badgering him
-
because he asked him four or five times about the
-
same exact thing. He asked him four or five times
-
about the same exact thing. Okay, let's go back up there.
-
It's like, should I go to En Gedi? Are they
-
going to attack? What should I do? Therefore David inquired
-
of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and attack these Philistines?
-
And the Lord said to David, Go and attack the
-
Philistines and save Calam. But David's men said, Look, we're
-
afraid here in Judah. How much more if we go
-
to Killam and fight against the Philistines? So David inquired
-
of the Lord again.
-
Okay, what?
-
He thought God was going to change his mind? But
-
God didn't get mad.
-
He would just need reassurance. And I think in this time,
-
it's going to be different than other times when God
-
would get mad and punish for when people question him.
-
Because he will know that we're scared. And we're going
-
to be like children, fearful. And you're like, are you
-
sure the lightning and thunder is not going to hurt us?
-
Are you sure that we're okay?
-
Okay. I'm going to say something. And now that I'm
-
going to say it, it's going to make a lot
-
of sense to the things I've said before.
-
Okay.
-
I'm going to tell you what not to ask for. Okay.
-
Don't ask God, what am I going to eat? You're
-
going to kick him off. Don't ask God, what am
-
I going to drink? Just don't do it. David was
-
very clear in asking God, where am I supposed to be?
-
And what am I supposed to be doing? David knew
-
God was going to take care of him.
-
Right?
-
So take note. This is all about Joseph, Mary, and
-
baby Jesus. The only thing they needed to be was
-
in the right place at the right time. Because if
-
they weren't, they were going to fall into Herod's hands, right?
-
Because he was going to kill the child. All right,
-
so this is what's going on. So David's not doubting
-
that God's going to take care of him. David's just asking,
-
where do you want me to go and what do
-
you want me to do? He's not asking for necessities, right?
-
But David's men said to him, look, we're afraid he'll
-
kill them. How much more than if we go to
-
Kelah against the armies of the Philistines? Then David inquired
-
of the Lord once again. And the Lord answered to
-
him and said, Arise, go down to Kelah, for I
-
will deliver the Philistines into your hands.
-
Okay?
-
So, did he say it differently? Yeah, he did.
-
He said that because before the first time he said.
-
Before he said what?
-
Just to go and attack the Philistines and save Kelah.
-
Yeah, he.
-
The second time he assured them that he would deliver
-
the Philistines into their hands.
-
So it's very imperative that you understand what the people
-
were afraid of. There's 600 of them, right? The 600
-
knew David wasn't going to get killed. So they understood
-
God could have been telling them, go and deliver Kelah,
-
but it's going to cost you your life. Do you understand?
-
So they wanted reassurance that So then David inquired again,
-
and David reassured them, no, no, you're not going to
-
just deliver Kelah, okay? I will deliver the Philistines into
-
your hands. So now they had all the questions answered, right?
-
But nobody was stupid enough to ask God for what
-
they needed. Do you understand that the first answer they got,
-
that could have meant that I'm going to save Kelah,
-
but 300 of you is going to die. And they
-
had to wear with all to know that. They knew that.
-
So that's why they asked. So then God answers, Arise
-
and go down to Kelah, for I will deliver the
-
Philistines into your hands. And David and his went to
-
Kelah and fought with the Philistines, struck them with a
-
mighty blow, and took away their livestock. So David saved
-
the inhabitants of Kelah. So you're supposed to know, David's
-
600 men, they knew what was going on. They knew
-
this was the effect of these angels running around. They
-
wanted word from God himself. What's going to happen? Are
-
we going to go save the inhabitants of Kalah, but
-
we ourselves die? And God said, no, I will deliver
-
them into your hand. So it's not the inquiry that
-
gets you in trouble.
-
Right?
-
Do you understand? So if we have our flight in wintertime, okay,
-
we're not going to ask God, are we going to
-
freeze to death? Just don't do it. We're going to
-
ask him, so where do you want us to go?
-
We're not going to say, you know, so when we
-
get there, are we going to have steak? Just don't
-
do something stupid. You're alive today. Because God's breath is flowing.
-
That's why you're alive. You're not alive because of green
-
beans and carrots. You're just not.
-
Okay?
-
So that's why his men ask him, Hey, oh, we
-
know you're going to live forever. What about us? Are
-
you asking us to go deliver the inhabitants of Kalah,
-
but us die delivering them?
-
Right?
-
So, Needless to say, I can't get into this. I
-
could go on for hours delivering how much information just
-
that I know off of it. I mean, read the
-
next verse. Where have you heard, you know, well, read
-
verse 6. We ain't going to discuss it, but read
-
verse 6.
-
Now, it happened when Abiathar, the son of Ahimelech, fled
-
to David at Keilah. That he went down with an
-
e-bot in his hand.
-
We didn't even discuss this character. We didn't discuss what
-
he had. We didn't discuss where he was. We didn't
-
discuss where he went. We didn't even mention him. There
-
is a... There is a corpus of information here. Just
-
about that.
-
So....
-
Yeah, there's a whole lot more here than the Golden
-
Book version. Because the Golden Book version doesn't work very well.
-
I mean, this story could have obviously been told better. What?
-
This story could have been told better. I mean, if
-
you were to give this to, let's say, Professor Mary Brown,
-
she'd probably give you a D.
-
But that can't but but that's because that's for people
-
when you say that you're referring to people who.
-
Don't have an understanding right for people that's reading it
-
like it's a story okay can we yes we can
-
okay yes we can wrap it up all right everybody
-
looks like.
-
Somebody said.
-
I will read these comments. Joanie said, is that what
-
here I am, send me means? She didn't elaborate, but
-
her question was, is that to say, does it mean
-
the right place, the right time? Beautiful. That's exactly what
-
it means. Yes. I spoke about this yesterday in a fellowship.
-
An event must happen out of location. Anyway, that's, yes, Joni,
-
that's what it means. Here I am, Isaiah. Amen. Take
-
note that Isaiah is in the future. Yes, he is.
-
All those prophecies, he's dead and gone. Yeah. Isaiah was
-
called to the future. That's where Isaiah is. Those things
-
that is being talked about in Isaiah 28. That's in
-
the future. Anyway, like I said, I could go on
-
and on and on. I really could, couldn't I? Anyway,
-
all right. For Rachel's sake, that's it, ladies and gentlemen.
-
Until next time, God bless.
-
Godspeed. Bye.
