  1. Amen.

  2. We're wrapping up our series today on Earth As. And

  3. it has been one of my favorite sermon series that

  4. we've ever done.

  5. I have so enjoyed this series.

  6. Just seeing what God has been doing in your lives

  7. and just... the attention that you've been giving those everyday actions.

  8. I've had so many conversations with people and just about,

  9. you know, I never thought about things that way.

  10. Well, today I want to talk about worship.

  11. I want to bring this message or this series to

  12. a close by talking about worship. So if you've got

  13. a Bible, go to Revelation chapter eight. I mean, Revelation

  14. chapter four, verse eight. Revelation chapter four, verse eight.

  15. If you're there, say amen. Revelation chapter 4.

    Revelation 4 chapter mention

  16. Y'all say, amen. Revelation chapter 4, verse 8. Let's read together.

    Revelation 4:8

  17. It says, The four living creatures, each having six wings,

  18. were full of eyes around and within, and they do

  19. not rest day or night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord

  20. God Almighty.

  21. Who was and is and is to come.

  22. Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks

  23. to him who sits on the throne, he who lives

  24. forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before him.

  25. Thank you, Jesus.

  26. The 24 elders fall down before him who sits on

  27. the throne and worships. Him who lives forever and ever,

  28. cast their crowns before the throne saying, You're worthy, O Lord,

  29. to receive glory and honor and power. For you created

  30. all things and by your will they exist and were created.

  31. Let's pray.

  32. Father, what an honor it is to bow ourselves before you.

  33. To live in a place where we can do it

  34. with very little fear to our physical body. Lord, I

  35. pray that you help us expand our understanding and commitment

  36. to worship. That we would not leave here as people

  37. who attend a worship service. But we would leave here

  38. as people who live a lifestyle of worship. Lord, have

  39. your way in our hearts and lives.

  40. In Jesus' name. Amen. You know, this amazing....

  41. That we have in Scripture. First of all, it can

  42. be a little alarming because we're introduced to these creatures

  43. and we don't exactly understand what they look like and

  44. how the things that are happening can be happening because

  45. they don't look like anything that we've ever seen. It

  46. says they have eyes around and within.

  47. Amen. They got six wings.

  48. These are things created and they're there before the throne.

  49. And they're saying, holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. Holy, holy,

  50. holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is

  51. and is to come.

  52. Now watch this.

  53. They're not singing the newest song on the radio. They're

  54. not looking for the new song that everybody's singing, the

  55. new thing that's been written by the big guy. They

  56. sing the same thing for eternity. Holy, holy, holy is

  57. the Lord God Almighty who was and is and.

  58. Is to come.

  59. They're not chasing fads. They're not chasing... You know, I

  60. don't know if there's drums, but if there are, they

  61. play the same thing all the time.

  62. Amen?

  63. It's the same. Holy, holy, holy is the.

  64. Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come.

  65. And then here's the thing. Those creatures are standing around.

  66. They're saying that. And then it says the elders, when

  67. they say it, they fall down on their face and

  68. they worship the Lord. So they say, holy, holy, holy

  69. is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and

  70. is to come. Over and over and over, and worship

  71. is going up before the Creator. And He wants His

  72. will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

  73. Now, here's the thing. I'm a pretty.

  74. Realistic, practical person as much as I am anything. And

  75. I understand that some of you probably would not make

  76. it on your job. You would not make it on

  77. your job if you were standing there and you said.

  78. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was

  79. and is to come.

  80. And you duck down behind the cash register.

  81. Probably not. Or worse, you drive a school bus.

  82. Amen.

  83. And you're down in the floorboard. But here's the thing.

  84. We have such a misunderstanding of what actual worship is.

  85. We have a misunderstanding of what it is.

  86. That is a.

  87. Picture of worship, and we take the wrong principle from it.

  88. We take the principle that it's about what's being said

  89. and what's being done, but the reality is the fact

  90. that it's always happening. It's always happening. It's always going on.

  91. And then we read those things in the New Testament,

  92. like the Apostle Paul says that, I pray continuously. And

  93. there's this thought process behind the scriptures that we read,

  94. that there is ongoing spiritual things that are happening. When

  95. we look at worship, there's a major word that's used

  96. in the Old Testament, used 170 times, that means worship.

  97. It's shakah, which means to worship. To lay before the

  98. Lord with your face towards the ground. To lay before

  99. the Lord with your face towards the ground. Literally, to

  100. pay homage to one that is superior is what the

  101. Word says. To pay homage to one who is superior.

  102. Then we move over in the Old Testament and it's proskuneo, proskuneo.

  103. And it literally means to kiss the ground before a superior.

  104. That's what the major word for worship is in.

  105. The New Testament.

  106. So we have this posture of worship, this posture that

  107. we take where that we are always bent before the Father.

  108. And see, here's the thing.

  109. You already worship.

  110. The question is, what is standing over you when you're

  111. bowed down? We're all worshiping something. We're all bowing to

  112. something because we all realize we're not the end-all be-all.

  113. And if you think you.

  114. Are, ask your spouse. They will let you know you're

  115. not the end-all be-all.

  116. Amen?

  117. Amen?

  118. We can get some context from the people who know

  119. us the most and love us the most. We're not

  120. the king of the hill the way we think we are.

  121. And we all have those things in our lives that

  122. we're bowing to. You know, I mean, most of us

  123. have a hard time not bowing to money.

  124. Amen? I mean, after all, money is what makes the

  125. world go round. Right? If you want to live somewhere,

  126. it costs... You want to drive a nice car, it costs...

  127. You want to drive a junkie car, it costs... You

  128. want to buy gas, it costs lots of money.

  129. I went to the gas station yesterday and it was $ 4.

  130. 29.

  131. I mean, I thought they were pumping gold out of

  132. the end of that thing.

  133. It was crazy. It was crazy.

  134. And we look around and we think to ourselves and

  135. those things are fixated in our minds. How can I

  136. make it if? You know, the money just doesn't stretch

  137. as far as that. I used to be able to

  138. make it to the end of the month and now

  139. I can make it to the 22nd.

  140. I don't know if the month.

  141. Got longer or the money got shorter, but we're not

  142. making it anymore.

  143. And then we start thinking about it. Listen, we start

  144. fixating on how we can get more.

  145. Not realizing that the supplier is the same one who

  146. supplied it before and he can supply it then because

  147. it's not about that. It's about the supplier. It's about

  148. the person.

  149. It's about the man. It's about the God. It's about

  150. the Savior. It's about the.

  151. King who can send someone to your house with a

  152. bag of groceries right when you need it. Or someone

  153. who can just show you a deal right when you

  154. need to have the deal. We used to have a

  155. young man that went to school at Emanuel College. It's

  156. not Pastor Clay. He's not here anymore. He would leave

  157. his house in Gainesville with the gas light on in

  158. his car. And he would pray all the way to

  159. Franklin Springs to college. He would go to class, he

  160. would get back in his car with the same gas

  161. light on and pray. all the way till he got

  162. home that God would not allow his car to run

  163. out of gas. Let me tell you, you can't make

  164. it that far with your gas light on.

  165. And he.

  166. Now, I got stranded on the side of the road

  167. a couple of times going to Emanuel College and back.

  168. I still had a level of faith, I guess.

  169. But nonetheless, he never got stranded on the side of

  170. the road because he just believed the supernatural power of

  171. God would sustain him. Now, I'm not saying that you

  172. should live your life like that. I'm just saying, Christopher,

  173. that's just the way he did it. And that's just

  174. what he thought. And God just got behind it. And listen,

  175. it was an amazing thing. And he would tell that story.

  176. Everybody would laugh, but he was serious. I watched it

  177. happen because.

  178. God is able.

  179. But the same thing that stands over you, if it's

  180. not God will answer you under its own power. If

  181. God is standing over you when you're laying and kissing

  182. the ground before the superior, then God answers in his power.

  183. But if money's standing over you, it'll answer in its power.

  184. If your boss is standing over you, it'll answer. If

  185. a person's standing over you, it'll answer in their power.

  186. And let me tell you something, they don't have the

  187. ability to do what Jesus can do. They just simply

  188. can't do it. But then that's not the full picture

  189. of worship. Because there's another word group, it's the words

  190. abad and latreo, which means to serve. Still interpreted worship,

  191. but instead of the posture of worship, it is the submission.

  192. To authority. It's not a posture, it's an action.

  193. And when we start talking about in the world in

  194. which we live, being in constant worship before the throne

  195. room of God, it's understanding that the actions that proceed

  196. out of our lives either are worship to God or

  197. they're worship to something else. Every single action that proceeds

  198. out of our life is going to point its homage

  199. towards one thing or another. In Romans chapter 12, in

    Romans 12 chapter mention

  200. verse 1, it says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by

  201. the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a

  202. living sacrifice. Holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

  203. You know, we read things, we just gloss over things.

  204. He said, holiness is a reasonable service. Just think about

  205. that for a second.

  206. Okay. Holiness is a reasonable service.

  207. But yeah, we have adopted this mentality in today's society,

  208. in the modern world, where nobody can actually be holy.

  209. And we come up with these cute sayings. Listen, I've

  210. even said them. Righteousness is God's gift to you. Holiness

  211. is your gift to God. Yeah, and you should give

  212. Him a gift every day. Holiness is my slant towards God.

  213. Grace is not an excuse for me not to attempt.

  214. Grace is a covering for in those rare moments that

  215. I don't.

  216. Amen?

  217. So we are always looking in ways to serve God.

  218. Verse 2, And do not be conformed to this world,

  219. but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. that

  220. you may prove what is that good and acceptable and

  221. perfect will of God. Worship is a conscious and voluntary decision.

  222. It's a conscious.

  223. and voluntary decision. In other words, I'm going to choose

  224. to do it unto God. I'm going to choose to

  225. do it pointed towards the Lord. And I do it

  226. not because I feel I have to, but because I

  227. want to. Let me say that again. I don't do

  228. it because I have to. I do it because I

  229. want to. When you know you've stepped into the layer

  230. where you're attaining, where you're chasing after spiritual maturity, it's

  231. when you stop doing things because you're afraid God's going

  232. to get you. And you do them because you know

  233. God loves you. Somebody needs to tweet that. You don't

  234. do it because you're afraid God's going to zap you,

  235. God's going to get you. You do it because you

  236. know Jesus loves you and he's calling you up and

  237. he's calling you above and he wants so much more

  238. for you than what you're actively engaged in in your lives.

  239. In Colossians chapter 3 verse 23 it says, and whatever

    Colossians 3:23

  240. you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and

  241. not to men. Now first of all, if there is

  242. If there is the ability for people to think that

  243. it's done to men, that means that it must look

  244. like things that men can appreciate or think you're doing

  245. it for them. So when you're on your job and

  246. you're working and you're trying, it's possible that your boss

  247. thinks you're doing it for them. But he says, but hey,

  248. here's the thing. This is what turns those actions into

  249. worship is that I'm heartily doing it unto God. That

  250. everything I do is pointing towards God and God's blessing

  251. is upon it and his presence is attracted to it

  252. because I'm pointing it towards him. And I don't get

  253. there early and stay a little late and work a

  254. little harder than everybody else because I want somebody to

  255. notice me. It's because Jesus has blessed me and he's

  256. gifted me and the talents.

  257. That I have, I'm going to pour out.

  258. And when I have that mentality behind it, then it's worship.

  259. And you're taking those opportunities to go above and beyond.

  260. And this is what the Lord hears. When you do that,

  261. this is what the Lord hears sitting on his throne.

  262. The beasts are saying, holy, holy, holy. And then you're

  263. out there and you're just, listen, you're getting after it.

  264. You're doing everything as unto the Lord. And while you're

  265. doing it, it rises.

  266. Up before the throne room as holy, holy.

  267. Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is

  268. and is to come. And you are falling on your

  269. face before the throne room when you're standing right there

  270. on the assembly line doing what you.

  271. Got to do because you got to do it. Amen.

  272. But it becomes.

  273. Worship when the attention is pointed in the right direction.

  274. And then he goes on to say in verse 24,

  275. knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward

  276. of the inheritance for you serve the Lord Christ. But

  277. he who does wrong will be repaid for what he

  278. has done. And there is no partiality. So listen, when

  279. you're pointing it in the right direction, God's blessing comes.

  280. When you point it in the wrong direction, whoever is

  281. standing over you will issue punishment. It's why there's a,

  282. you know, you read online all the time. I got

  283. there early and I stayed late and I was the

  284. best worker. And, you know, my boss even told me

  285. I did a good job and then his nephew needed

  286. a job.

  287. So they fired me and they hired him. He's a

  288. lazy sloth. Right? Because people were trying to impress men.

  289. Because people were trying to impress the powers that be

  290. on this earth rather than offering our life as worship

  291. unto God. And when everything we do is unto God,

  292. we really start checking about what it is we're doing.

  293. Do you have things in your life that you would

  294. never do if you were standing face to face with Jesus?

  295. Are there things in your life that you would be

  296. embarrassed about if people here knew they were happening in

  297. your life? But the Lord watches and He sees. And

  298. it's either worship or it's not. It's either worship to

  299. Him or... pointed in some other direction. So when we

  300. are conscious of our decisions and we do everything as

  301. unto the God, then we become that picture of Revelation

    Revelation 4 chapter mention

  302. chapter 4, laying down in front of the throne room,

  303. submitting our hearts every single day before God. 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 10:31

  304. chapter 10 verse 31 says, Therefore, whether you eat or

  305. drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory

  306. of God. I mean, it's just it's amazing what's in

  307. the Bible. It's like, man, there's stuff there. And when

  308. I do the stuff, the other stuff happens. When I

  309. do the stuff, the things that happen in heaven happen

  310. on earth.

  311. Now, I don't know about y'all.

  312. I would do a show of hands, but some of

  313. y'all would raise your hand, and that would just lead

  314. to further questions. I don't know about y'all, but I've

  315. never just like walked out in the yard and saw

  316. a six-winged beast with eyes everywhere, you know, singing in

  317. my yard, right?

  318. Completely supernatural. Watch this.

  319. When our lives become constant, worship, we start seeing the supernatural.

  320. We start seeing the fact.

  321. That God rips a hole in reality because He wants

  322. to be close to those.

  323. Who want to be close.

  324. And we start seeing things happen around us that are unexplainable.

  325. We don't understand why we have the favor that we have.

  326. We don't understand why he does the things he does

  327. or why I get to be in the places that

  328. I get.

  329. To be and go the place.

  330. Supernatural drawing of a life of worship. See, because here's

  331. the reality. You can raise your hands and never lower

  332. your head. Because worship is simply about submission. It's not

  333. about the songs we sing. It's not about the instruments

  334. we play. It's not about any of those things. It's

  335. about who we're bowing our lives before. Whether it's in

  336. posture or whether it's in action, it doesn't matter. All

  337. that matters is that we are submitted fully to Him.

  338. The band can come and get ready. In Matthew chapter

    Matthew 15:7

  339. 15 verse 7, it says, Hypocrites, well, did Isaiah prophesy

  340. about you saying, These people draw near to me with

  341. their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their

  342. heart is far from me, and in vain they worship me,

  343. teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

  344. He said.

  345. It's possible. It's possible to say the right things, but

  346. that worship is in vain.

  347. It's possible to say the right thing.

  348. Listen, it's possible to lift your hands at the right time.

  349. It's possible to, I mean, you know, every church has

  350. their thing, right?

  351. I mean, you know, it's possible to learn to sway

  352. or to spend.

  353. I know my feet didn't get off the ground. But

  354. my heels won't get off the ground for you, but

  355. at least my heels get off the ground for Jesus.

  356. Amen?

  357. See, all those things can be in vain if our

  358. heart is not set to worship. The conditions can be perfect. Listen,

  359. these guys are good. These guys are good. They make

  360. it easy to worship. Listen, I've been in some worship

  361. services where it was work.

  362. Amen? They make it easy. And here's the thing, sometimes

  363. making it easy does a disservice to you.

  364. Because you think you can just come in and sing

  365. the songs that somebody else wrote to music that somebody

  366. else plays.

  367. Kathy, should I say it?

  368. In a building that somebody else's offerings pays for. I

  369. send my kids to Ministries that somebody else serves in

  370. and volunteers for.

  371. But oh, I'm a worshiper.

  372. Oh, I jump up and down and I twist and

  373. I shake and I shout.

  374. I got all the gifts. I got all the gifts.

  375. I got all the gifts. Where's my heart? Where is

  376. your heart?

  377. Because it's not about holy, holy, holy is the Lord God.

  378. Almighty with my mouth.

  379. It's about those creatures believe it and they never stop

  380. saying it.

  381. Their complete existence.

  382. Are about those words and the holiness of God and

  383. lifting Him up and the elders exist to fall down

  384. before Him.

  385. If there are areas of your life, listen to me church.

  386. If there are areas of your life that don't measure up,

  387. that you know are not in alignment with Scripture, you

  388. need to repent of those things and bring them under

  389. the submission of Christ.

  390. And make your life a life of worship. If there's

  391. things you're holding on to.

  392. That you know you need to let go of, you

  393. need to let go of those things and bring your

  394. heart into submission to Christ because that's the only true worship.

  395. Everybody stand with me.

  396. We're going to take just a moment.

  397. Everybody close your eyes. If you're here and you say, Pastor,

  398. there's some things in my life that I need to

  399. bring to the Lord. There's some things in my life

  400. that I need to turn over to Jesus. Slip your

  401. hand up and say.

  402. That's me. I need to give something. Amen. Amen. Amen.

  403. Amen.

  404. We're going to wait just a moment because my guess

  405. is there's about 40 or 50 more people that need

  406. to lift their hands. Because this is not.

  407. This is not just... This is common to man. That

  408. we fall short.

  409. That we miss the mark. The key is bringing myself

  410. back into submission to Him.

  411. This is what we're going to do.

  412. I'm just going to step down And the band's going

  413. to play. If you feel like you need to come

  414. and lay things down before the Lord, I want you

  415. to come. Now listen, don't come stand in front of

  416. me because this is not that kind of prayer.

  417. This is you kneeling in the altar.

  418. I'm just going to come and I'm going to put

  419. my hand on your back and I'm going to agree

  420. in prayer.

  421. Altar team, don't come. Don't come, altar. Oh, no, you're not.

  422. You're coming to pray. Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
