-
Take a few slow, deep breaths.
-
As we pause from the busyness of our day, gently turn your attention towards God.
-
With each breath, allow your mind to quiet and your body to settle.
-
Recognizing this as a sacred time, a moment to be fully present with the one who is always present with you.
-
In the Old Testament, God called Moses to lead his people out of oppression, in slavery, into freedom.
-
Overwhelmed by the calling, Moses questioned how he could possibly accomplish such a task.
-
Despite his doubts, God didn't respond with a strategy or a command.
-
He simply gave Moses a promise of presence.
-
In Exodus 33, 14, God says, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
-
What a beautiful reminder for us even today.
-
God's greatest gift isn't direction for the journey.
-
It's his presence each step of the way.
-
Take the next 30 seconds to thank God that his presence is with you in all things, that his hand upholds every moment of your story from beginning to end.
-
No matter how you feel today, rest in the assurance that God goes before you, remains beside you, and will never leave you.
-
In your work, your parenting, your relationships, your church, or perhaps a dream he's placed on your heart.
-
If it feels bigger than you, remember God's promise to Moses.
-
My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
-
Does the calling come with pressure?
-
Take the next two minutes and ask God, Lord, where do you have more for me?
-
Give me eyes to see your greater calling on my life.
-
Now use your own voice out loud if you can, to remind yourself through prayer that God is the one in control.
-
If he has called you to something, he will sustain you through it.
-
The outcome has always been in his hands.
-
Take the next 15 seconds to praise God for the rest, assurance, and peace we can experience by his presence.
-
As we close today, picture what it would look like to live in the promise of God's presence.
-
Imagine your plans, your routines, your relationships, and the places God has called you to.
-
Not striving in your own strength, but resting in his presence.
-
Remember Exodus 33, 14.
-
My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
-
What would it look like for you to live as though that promise is true today?
-
Thank you that you are in control and we are not.
-
In the areas where we feel pressure to perform or carry the weight of the outcomes, we surrender our desire to control what only you can hold.
-
Help us become more aware of your presence instead.
-
This week, remind us in undeniable ways that you are with us.
-
Interrupt our plans, reshape our perspective, and give us eyes to see you in every moment.
-
May we find our confidence not in having all the answers, but in your promise of presence and rest.
-
Amen.
