-
I need your prayer this morning that the Lord will guide my mind and my heart and guide your ears and your heart.
-
That we hear the word of God and that we think upon it and our mind is drawn to the things which He has left us in Scripture for our learning.
-
What things were written beforehand were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
-
We need that hope while we journey through this uh dark and uh unfriendly world that we live in.
-
Uh sometimes the the days seem sunny and bright and wonderful and warm.
-
Sometimes they seem cold and dark and uncomfortable and hostile.
-
And so we go through this life and our journey, and we realize that on our own it's just really scary.
-
It's really hard to find our way.
-
We get sidetracked and brought down to doubts and fears, not knowing how we can continue on.
-
But then if we begin to think about our Lord and Savior, things brighten up.
-
Things we find purpose.
-
Even under the harshest conditions, we find that path that's lit by the word of God, and our feet have a lamp that gives us sight, and we can see then where we're going.
-
I want to take this morning and think about, and it's been on my mind all week, and I began to try to think of what what I would try to find in scripture to talk about.
-
And the same thing kept coming to my mind, and that was the man Jesus.
-
The man Jesus.
-
What what what what can you say?
-
There's so much that it's overwhelming to try to say, but how can we bring it to something that we can continue to look at we think about Jesus and him being who he was and what he was, it's beyond my comprehension to describe him with any fullness.
-
I can only get the bits and pieces that have been revealed to me, which is not all that's been revealed, and all the things that were have been revealed and all the things that there are.
-
John said, if all the things that Jesus had done had been written, the world could not contain the books thereof.
-
John was right because Jesus didn't just start in that manger in Bethlehem, not even nine months before that manger in Bethlehem.
-
Jesus was and is the word of God.
-
John says, in the beginning was the word.
-
The word was with God, the word was God.
-
The same was in the beginning with God.
-
If we let that sink in our mind, we think, well, I can't think that far because I can't think past time.
-
Time is an element that holds me captive, and I can't even think back before 1956, because I was not.
-
He told some that when they questioned about, well, you're only, you're less than 50 years old.
-
You're how can you say before Abraham, knowing something before, he said, before Abraham was, I am.
-
He was before Adam.
-
That would have been just as true estate.
-
Before Adam was, I am.
-
Before light became light, I am.
-
He was with God and was God.
-
And that one that was promised came in the likeness of sinful flesh.
-
I believe a man by the name of Jesus lived in that time around the beginning of zero CE, whatever the date was, when he was conceived in a virgin.
-
I believe in a man, Jesus, who is the miracle man.
-
And he's the miracle man even by his existence.
-
Because we read here in Luke chapter one about the beginning of his earthly ascent coming in the flesh.
-
Now John says, and the word, the word which was God and with God and was God, that word was made flesh, took up a body like us, the only begotten son of God.
-
Now God will have many sons and daughters.
-
He'll have mankind sons, but they're going to be adopted into the family.
-
But this morning I want us to focus our attention upon the man, Jesus.
-
Jesus, it says, of Nazareth.
-
He had been prophesied of throughout the history of revealed word of God, even back to the garden where it talks about the seed of the woman, and that Satan would bruise his heel, but he would crush the head of the serpent.
-
That seed was spoken of back even at that very early time.
-
He was prophesied of his sacrifice that he would make.
-
When they had transgressed and were naked and ashamed, separated from God by sin, exposed in their guilt, God slew an animal and took the skins and covered his creation, covered them with an emblem of a sacrifice that would be made to cover all of his children's sin.
-
All of his chosen children of sin.
-
What do you mean, chosen children?
-
I'm talking about what Paul says when he says, according as he has chosen us in him from the foundation of the world.
-
Before the foundation of the world, he loved his children before the foundation of the world.
-
And God so loved that world that he gave his only begotten son, his only begotten son.
-
That, friends, is a show of the very mind of God, the very love of God, and what it would mean.
-
It would mean a self-sacrificing atonement that would have to be made to reconcile what was lost to bring back to him by his work.
-
And it had to be his work because he's the only one that was qualified to do it.
-
Because if you leave it up to any man, then we look at men and we find Paul saying, There's none righteous.
-
No, not one.
-
There's none.
-
Now listen to him, there's none that seeketh after God.
-
All you gotta do is seek God.
-
No, for there's none that will seek after God.
-
God sought that which was lost, and he found them, and he re remedied the death by his life.
-
He would give his only begotten son.
-
Now here we find in the first chapter of the book of Luke, the gospel account of Luke.
-
You know the story well, I'm sure, but I just want us to look at it.
-
The seventeenth, let's go to the seventeenth verse.
-
Well, let's come on down.
-
Um in the twenty sixth verse, he says, and in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary.
-
And the angel came in unto her and said, Hail thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee.
-
Blessed art thou among women.
-
And when she saw him she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
-
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favor with God, and behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus.
-
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the highest, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David, and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom shall there be no end.
-
He shall reign over the house of Jacob.
-
There's a scripture that says it was said unto the wife of Isaac that thou shalt bear two sons.
-
The elder shall serve the younger.
-
Whereas it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
-
There was a favored one in that situation, and he's alluding to it here in this, I believe, where he says, He shall reign over the house of Jacob, the ones that he loves.
-
He'll reign over that house forever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
-
That means he's a king.
-
If he's got a kingdom, he's a king.
-
He's going to be a king.
-
He is a king.
-
Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
-
She was engaged to Joseph, but had not been with Joseph.
-
And none had ever come about in this fashion.
-
And I'll say again, there none shall ever come about in this fashion.
-
Again, this is a miracle child.
-
It is a miracle child because God would bring about the conception of his son in a virgin he was made a body.
-
A body thou hast prepared me.
-
Not prepared for me, but thou hast prepared me a body.
-
So what's watch?
-
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee.
-
Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
-
That holy thing, that bodily person.
-
There was a person conceived in Mary.
-
A little child was conceived of the word that was planted within that body of the woman and that became a holy embryo and began to grow and finally was born a man, born a child.
-
A child is born.
-
A son is given, a son is born.
-
A son is given, a child is born, says Isaiah.
-
So we find here that a miraculous thing takes place where the Holy Ghost, I believe what he did was just speak to the body of the woman, and that woman conceived a child by his word that says, Be alive.
-
I don't know how that exact the mechanic of it, but I know, my friends, that that child was conceived of the Holy Ghost, which is the very same one that spoke to your dead soul that was dead, that had no life, and when he through his word, through his voice, says, Live, life is conceived in you.
-
That new birth.
-
Verily, very the hour of coming when which them that are dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.
-
That life-giving voice that commands life there, that brings about an implanting, an infusion of life through his very word.
-
And he, the Holy Ghost, conceived that child within this virgin as was prophesied of, that a virgin shall conceive and shall bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel, which is God with us, and he shall be called the Son of God.
-
And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
-
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
-
With God nothing shall be impossible.
-
I can tell you from Bill's standpoint, with Bill all things are impossible.
-
I can do nothing without the Lord.
-
But with him there's nothing impossible.
-
Well, my friends, our Savior was conceived and was there with Mary, and as she comes in to this cousin Elizabeth, and here's what happened.
-
And Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into the city of Judea, and entered into the house of Zechariah and saluted Elizabeth.
-
Just come in and said hi.
-
Just come in and said, maybe just said Elizabeth, just that salutation, and something miraculous happens here.
-
That baby which was conceived in Elizabeth by the power of God through Elizabeth and Zacharias, that baby that she was of old age, but yet he was born, because there was a prophecy back in Isaiah that from the wilderness there would come a voice that would testify of the one and only miraculous one.
-
And here he is in his time as he was being carried by Elizabeth.
-
And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb.
-
And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.
-
John the Baptist heard that salutation of Mary through his mother, and it says that he leapt for joy.
-
I like the description even to tell us he didn't just kick the mother, as we find happening a lot of times in new babies.
-
The baby will kick, and you can feel the kick.
-
But here the description by the inspiration of God tells us that John the Baptist leapt for joy.
-
And joy we find from Paul when he tells us what the fruit of the Spirit is.
-
We find that John already had the fruit of the Spirit, already born again of the Spirit.
-
That gives me great comfort to know, my friends, that the Lord doesn't have to wait until someone is born in the flesh.
-
Actually come from the mother, and then they can be.
-
No, even in the mother's womb, the Lord can reach into there and speak to that dead soul and say, live and put within it those fruit of the Spirit.
-
And John displays fruit of the Spirit, leaping for joy at the sound of his Savior's mother speaking.
-
That the Savior is here.
-
John testifies that the Christ was in.
-
Mary.
-
John already started his declaration that this is the Savior.
-
This is the promised Son of God.
-
This is the man that was promised, the seed that would be given.
-
Then in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
-
And even in the mother's womb, he is existing there.
-
And John is existing with life.
-
And I'm going to tell you, friends, that tells me that life is even of a human is in the womb and to be treasured and to be respected and to be given its uh its the understanding that that's life and the value that life.
-
John the Baptist leapt for joy at the sound of his Savior's mother, even with her just to salivate salvation.
-
And she spake out with a loud voice, said, Blessed art thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, and whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me.
-
For lo as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leapt in my womb for joy, and blessed is she that believeth, for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
-
That angel had told her that holy thing which is conceived of the man Jesus, born as was prophesied of of a virgin, as was prophesied.
-
He lived in Nazareth, or she lived in Nazareth, but according to the things that were going on, they went down to Bethlehem, and lo and behold, prophecy is fulfilled.
-
That in the Old Testament we find that not only would he be born of a virgin, but he would be born in Bethlehem of Ephrata, right there in Judea.
-
My friends, he would be born in a particular place.
-
And mind you, there was no room in the inn for him there.
-
And I'm gonna tell you, in this world, there's not many rooms for him that are given in this world.
-
But I'm gonna tell you, there are there is a people that hear his voice and that do follow after him and do want to learn of him, and I want to learn of the Lord.
-
I don't have to teach you to know the Lord, because he said, Teach not thy brother and thy neighbor to know the Lord, for all shall know me from the least to the greatest.
-
It's the Lord's business to have you know him.
-
But he has sent us out to teach you about him and to bring to your mind things concerning him.
-
I love to think upon the man Jesus and his greatness.
-
I love to think about uh him as a man as he grew up, and even at the age of twelve, think of it, twelve years old, a very young lad, but yet even at that age, he already knew that he must be up and about his father's business.
-
I believe every day he did uh he did get up and about his father's business.
-
He was subject to his parents, he was taken and taken care of by Joseph and by uh by Mary.
-
Joseph being a carpenter, Mary keeping the home and taking care of Jesus.
-
I I can't imagine the things.
-
Well, we can't imagine, but it it would have been awe to think about the things that Jesus did and said every day that he lived, as she watched him, as she saw the mind of Jesus as he spake with her as a little boy.
-
He he had no sin.
-
That's one thing we do believe about this man, Jesus.
-
Brother Jimmy, he never sinned, not one bit.
-
He had no sin of Adam, he wasn't born of the seed of Adam.
-
He had no corruptness that flowed from Adam to him, because he wasn't born of the seed of Adam.
-
He was born of the Holy Ghost.
-
He was a son of God, even from birth to twelve, and then from twelve to thirty, not a time in there that he ever uh did he ever sin against God.
-
Just the miraculous things he must have said and done.
-
I tell you, there is an indication, there's an indication that he did many great things in the sight of Mary.
-
Because they went at the very first miracle that man, the man Jesus did was at Cana.
-
And they had run out of wine at that wedding.
-
And Mary asked him uh about this and to make uh to provide them wine, and he did.
-
He had them uh fill up those water pots.
-
But what I want us to see is Mary's mind as he uh as he had spoken to her, she turned to those men and she said, Whatever he says, do it.
-
She had some experience in this son of hers that whenever he said something, good things were going to happen.
-
He would not tell you to do something frivolously, he would not lead you to do something without a purpose, and he would not fail if he told you to do something, he would not fail in have in it coming to pass.
-
He told them to fill those water pots to the brim all the way to the top, not one, not one uh more space for additives to come in.
-
And they did what he said, and they drew from those pots and they brought it to the good man of the house, and it says that as they went, it was turned to wine.
-
They drew out water, they went, and as they went, it turned to wine.
-
And when it got to the good man of the house, he didn't know that it was water in the water pot.
-
All he knew is somebody brought him a cup of wine, and he took the wine and he drank a little sip of that.
-
And he says, Why have you kept the best?
-
Why have you kept the best to last?
-
Men usually serve the best first, then when men are well drunk, then they don't know the difference.
-
But you brought the beth to last.
-
When he says, do something, friends, it'll always come out the way he said that it would come out.
-
That's important to know about this man, Jesus, is that he was a man of truth and he was a man of power.
-
He was a man, my friends, that that said what he meant and meant what he said.
-
Uh you can say that about a lot of men to a degree, but sometimes they say things that they can't get done.
-
But my friend, he never said anything that he couldn't get done or that wouldn't be done.
-
He told the truth no matter what it what it brought about.
-
This man, Jesus, I wondered what it would have been like to be one of his disciples, up close and personal, and to hear him and to see him do the things that he did, and to experience that man Jesus.
-
I believe.
-
I believe in the man Jesus.
-
I believe he was God manifested in the flesh, and there they sat in the very same place where he was.
-
I hope you know where I'm going with this.
-
Because my friends, we can let our mind wander to a to a place of what ifs that we what if we sat with him in a circle and there he is talking to us.
-
What if we sat there and he was up and he took the scriptures and he read them and he began to expound upon those scriptures as we would listen to his voice and we would see the elegancy and the power.
-
He doesn't speak like one of those scribes and one of those Pharisees.
-
He doesn't speak like some of those that act like they've got power.
-
This man speaks like no other man has ever spoken like this man.
-
To hear him talk.
-
Let's go to the Mount of Olives, and there he is in his sermon, and he preaches such a wonderful three-chapter sermon, and we're sitting there and we're listening to him, and he's saying things, though they sound great.
-
We have to process what he is saying, and we process them through a heart, and sometimes it lands, and sometimes it does.
-
But we hear him speak, and what a wonderful speaker he is.
-
What a powerful man, what an eloquent speaker, what a what a one that always says the right thing at the right time and has the right answer.
-
You know, I go and and maybe talk with someone, and I'd like to say exactly the right thing in the right moment for the right purpose, so that it would lift them up and it would cause them to be rejoicing with great power and to understand, especially when they're in such troubles.
-
I'm gonna tell you, friends, it's not just the back then.
-
You don't have to get in the wayback machine to go and listen to Jesus speak his gospel to his people.
-
He was on the mountain then, but I'm gonna tell you, when we come together in the house of God and we have the scriptures in front of us, and we have them in our hearts, and we're of the we're of the sound mind, and we're we're sitting in the uh in the power of the Holy Ghost, and he speaks to my heart, and I hear him, though he's not here.
-
You know, I have never seen the Lord in the flesh.
-
And it's interesting to think, he did not allow, and I believe this, he did not allow a picture to be made of him or drawn of him or a bust to be made like him.
-
That you know, you've got you've got busts and portraits and all kinds of drawings of of Caesars and leaders and of Alexander the Great.
-
You can go find pictures of them, but you cannot find one picture verified of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
I believe that's on purpose.
-
Because you know what we would do?
-
We'd idolize that picture.
-
We would we would superimpose our mind simply on a picture and never see past that picture.
-
I believe that's kind of summed up when he said, Thou shalt, thou shalt have no graven images of me.
-
On purpose.
-
I believe he would not let us see what he looks, but we don't have to see him with the eye of the flesh, but we see him through eyes of faith.
-
We see him as Peter, I think, taught, having not seen you believe, or the Lord said, having not seen yet believe.
-
They're they're blessed, he tells Thomas, except Thomas, Thomas, except I see those nail prints, except I see that handprint, except I see that empirical evidence, that evidence that is right in my hand, that I can touch it.
-
Oh friends, he tells us that that seeing him without seeing him is joy unspeakable and full of glory.
-
And it is, because my friends, my my inner eye can see him a lot better than I can see even a portrait, especially these days, blind in one eye, and hardly can't see out the other.
-
But yet, my friend, my spiritual eye, when he shows himself to me through his word, when I feel his presence, when I feel his voice coming in my ears like Elijah did when he is on that mountain, he's under such turmoil.
-
He looked for him in storms, he looked for him in the in the whirlwind, but he wasn't found there.
-
But what he did find was a steel small voice that spake to him in that place and reassured him, I have 7,000 that have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
-
My friends, that inner eye is much keener than the natural eye.
-
And it's more blessed when we see him.
-
Because sometimes, my friends, I we can see him in the the most beautiful places.
-
Let me come over and I want to go to the want to tie this with 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians.
-
1 Corinthians chapter 10, verse 13.
-
10 and 13 of 1 Corinthians, he said, There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man.
-
Sometime I think, and sometime we all get to maybe get to thinking that why am I experiencing something nobody else experiences?
-
My friends, temptations and trials come to all men.
-
Come to all of us.
-
We might see it somewhat coming, or it may catch us completely unaware.
-
But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able.
-
He will not suffer you to be tempted above that, but you are able.
-
That's when I believe that, when I grasp that truth, that there's nothing that can come on me, come at me, get around me, cover me, shackle me, cast me down, put me under.
-
There's nothing that he'll suffer that can happen to me, though it's common to all men, there's nothing that can come upon me.
-
He'll not suffer it to come upon me where we're not able.
-
But will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
-
I think of two places.
-
Stephen came under the trial and the tribulation of a hating people that because he was speaking the truth, they took up the stones and they began to lash upon him and to thrust the stones at him, stone him for tea teaching the truth.
-
The temptation came upon him, but God is able to make a way of escape.
-
You said, Well, wait a minute.
-
I thought he died.
-
He did.
-
He did, he escaped.
-
He escaped from those stones, but you know how he did it?
-
The Lord is faithful, the Lord caused him to look and to see the self the Son of God standing at the right hand of God.
-
His Savior was making intercession for him even in the time of the of the tribulation, even in that moment.
-
And the Lord even put the spirit within Stephen to say something that Jesus had said on the cross.
-
God lay not this to their charge.
-
Jesus said, Forgive them, for they know not what they do.
-
My friends, Stephen died that day under the stones, but he did it with God bringing him through that.
-
You know, as they began to stone him, it says he just laid down and went to sleep.
-
He just fell asleep.
-
Yes, he died, Brother Cooter, but God gave him escape even under that tribulation.
-
Now we go to another place where an old Babylonian king had an altar and he said, Okay, captives, if you don't bow the knee to my image, then you're going to be thrust into those hot burning furnaces.
-
They've been heated up, folks.
-
They've been heated up so hot that even the man that threw them in there would perish before the doors of it.
-
That's hot.
-
And he would they knew that they're likely going in the fire because they said this.
-
And I'll put it in my words you may thrust us into that fire, and we may perish in that fire.
-
But you know this, O King.
-
Our Lord, who is God, will deliver us from your hand.
-
Will deliver us from your hand.
-
He'll make a way to escape.
-
And you know that story, how they did thrust them in there.
-
The those that thrust them in did perish at the door of that fire.
-
It was heated seven times hotter than it needed to be.
-
And that old king looked into that fire, and what he found was those three up walking about in the fire.
-
And he said, Wait a minute, we threw three in.
-
Where, what is what about that?
-
There's a fourth one in there, and he's like unto the Son of God.
-
My friend, sometimes the Lord will bring us out of those tribulations with great power and great demonstration of his power, so that nobody questions how this happened.
-
I tell you what, it wasn't because Nebuchadnezzar changed heart and said, I'll turn down the temperature.
-
No, it's gonna come because there's one that's walking with them in the fire.
-
In that place.
-
There's an old there's an old gospel song, and I I just love this this song that uh that it goes like this.
-
Was three men cast in.
-
But where did that fourth man go?
-
He's still in the fire.
-
And when you go back in, when you go into a fire, know this.
-
He's already in the fire.
-
He's there waiting for you.
-
He's there to be with you.
-
God is faithful.
-
God is faithful.
-
I want to go in time one more place.
-
That was Paul talking to the Corinthians in his first letter.
-
Paul was a great preacher.
-
Paul was well, he was not a very good fellow in the beginning.
-
He was a man that caused a death.
-
And oh, by the way, he was the one holding the coats of those that stoned Stephen.
-
He's there.
-
He's not trying to help Stephen.
-
He's holding the coats that restricted the access of the others.
-
He relieves them of their burden to put it upon Stephen.
-
And he'd never forget that.
-
He makes comments about it later.
-
That was always weighing on Saul Paul's conscience.
-
And here he is in the 12th chapter of the book of 2 Corinthians, 12th chapter.
-
Got to read it kind of quick.
-
It is not expedient for me, doubtless to glory.
-
I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
-
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, whether in the body I cannot tell, or whether out of the body I cannot tell, God knoweth.
-
Such a one caught up to the third heaven.
-
And I knew such a man, whether in the body or out of the body, I cannot tell God knoweth.
-
How that he was caught up into paradise and heard unspeakable words which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
-
Of such a one will I glory, yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
-
For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool, for I will say the truth, but now I forbear lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me, and lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
-
Every time I begin to think so high of myself, when when the Lord uses me in such a miraculous way, and I'm and I preach the gospel above myself, and everything is just glorious, and I begin to think, wow, I did that.
-
Guess what?
-
The thorn hits right in the flesh.
-
There's an accusation, there's an accuser there, and it's meant to get his attention.
-
Paul, you think it pretty highly of yourself when you're exalted of yourself?
-
You think you did all that?
-
You you think you're the one that's got the power?
-
You think you're the one that manufactured all this spirit?
-
That messenger of Satan hits him at that moment, and it is meant to buffet him.
-
Now Satan just has a he just has the love of punching.
-
He just wants to punch for punching.
-
So he doesn't care.
-
If I can get a shot at Paul, I'll get it.
-
And that Satan will send that thorn in the flesh of Paul, and it reminds Paul.
-
It brings him back down to earth to remember, I believe the very thorn, the accusation is.
-
Paul's praying three times.
-
I don't think he prayed three times just in a row with no tie.
-
I believe there's tie.
-
He prays, then he waits.
-
The thorn hits, he prays again, the thorn hits, he prays again.
-
The answer keeps being no.
-
I'm not taking the thorn away.
-
The trial is going to keep coming.
-
And I'm going to tell you, friends, the trial will keep coming as long as we're living.
-
My trials are my trials.
-
The things that I go through, the things you go through, the things that all of us, our loved ones, go through.
-
They keep coming.
-
Sometimes they come unaware and we don't know.
-
And we pray about it and we wonder where the answer is.
-
Prayed the third time.
-
And he said unto me, The Lord says unto Paul, and he said unto me, this is in red letters, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength, the Lord's strength, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
-
The weakness of Stephen is he can't get himself out from being pounded with the rocks, but the Lord's strength was made perfect in that the Lord showed him that vision of him standing and causing him to feel the the heart of a forgiving servant of God, and then finally falling asleep there under even the poundings of the rocks.
-
Though it meant his death, it meant his escape.
-
Those Chaldeans there, they they saw they saw the grace of God as they went into the fire.
-
You know, you think about it, as they went into the fire, it must have been, I see nothing but the blaze.
-
But then they're there and they're not being consumed, and they look about, and they're they're in the company of the Lord.
-
And more especially more important, brother Cooter, the Lord's in the presence with them.
-
He causes them to see him, just like he caused Stephen to see him.
-
His his pride power was made perfect, and they're weak in that they can't get themselves out of it, but he is strong in that he can keep them.
-
You know, they came out, and not a smell of smoke was upon their vest, and not a hair of their head were singed.
-
I can't even go into Christ's barbecue and come out without smelling like smoke.
-
My friends, when the Lord does something just like that wine, he does it with a thorough hand.
-
He does it with a power that's made perfect in weakness.
-
Watch what Paul would say.
-
Try to wrap it up right here.
-
He said, Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in mine infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
-
There, my friends, is where we can feel him.
-
That man Jesus is still with us today.
-
I don't have to go to the Mount of Olives to hear him preach.
-
I can hear him be preached in his church by his ministry that is sent to preach the word and not themselves, to preach the power of God and not their power, the wisdom of God and not the wisdom of man.
-
We can feel his presence.
-
The Lord has promised where two or three are gathered together in my name.
-
There I'll be there in the midst of them.
-
He'll sing praises in the midst of the church with the church.
-
We feel the man, Jesus, and this is all made possible through one thing.
-
Jesus died upon the cross.
-
Jesus was buried in a tomb, and in three days and three nights later, Jesus walked out of that tomb.
-
That tomb was found empty.
-
He was seen alive by his disciples, by many, many witnesses after his passion.
-
He was seen to go back to heaven, ascended back and seen by the disciples, and they were told, Why stand ye here gazing?
-
In essence, get up and get about the business of our Savior.
-
He's given us the way of our escapes.
-
He still gives us the way of our escape.
-
And I like to escape to the church.
-
That's a good place to come to escape.
-
To find the escapes from our trials and tribulations.
-
That's where I find the powers made perfect in our weakness.
-
Our weakness.
-
He gets all the glory, and we get delivered.
-
I thank you for your attention this morning.
