  1. Shalom beloved. It's a beautiful Wednesday morning and we thank

  2. God for the blessing of life. The Bible makes us

  3. understand that God loads us with benefit daily and so

  4. we can be rest assured of his benefits for us today.

  5. Even as we listen to the word of God, Won't

  6. open up your heart and receive His word with meekness

  7. in the mighty name of Jesus. This is Pastor and Mrs.

  8. Bruce Smith facilitating this morning's devotion. Let's kindly share a

  9. word of prayer. Everlasting Father, we thank you for the

  10. privilege and the honor to sit at your feet and

  11. to hear your words. Your words, oh God, impart life.

  12. They strengthen and they quicken us. We thank you, oh God,

  13. that your words do not return to you void, but

  14. they accomplish every assignment, every purpose for which you sent

  15. it forth. Thank you, Father, for your words that you

  16. are sending forth into our lives this morning. Let it

  17. accomplish the purpose and the assignment for which you have

  18. sent it, all to the praise and glory of your

  19. holy name. We thank you for hearing us in Jesus'

  20. mighty name. Amen. Let us kindly take our confession together.

  21. Joshua chapter 1 verse 8 This book of the law

    Joshua 1:8

  22. shall not depart out of my mouth. But I shall

  23. meditate in it day and night, that I may observe

  24. to do according to all that is written in it.

  25. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then

  26. I will have good success.

  27. Amen.

  28. Amen. God richly bless you. Our theme for this morning

  29. is Focus on God. We'll be concluding on what we

  30. started yesterday. and want to take a scripture reading from

  31. Daniel chapter 1 verses 8 to 17. Daniel chapter 1

Daniel 1:8–17 Daniel 1 chapter mention

  32. from verse 8 to verse number 17. I will be

  33. reading from the King James Version. Daniel chapter 1 verse

    Daniel 1:8–17

  34. 8 to 17. But Daniel purposed in his heart that

  35. he would not defile himself with a portion of the

  36. king's meat nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore

  37. he requested of the prince of the Enoch that he

  38. might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into

  39. favour and tender love with the prince of the Enoch.

  40. And the prince of the Enoch said unto Daniel, I

  41. fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat

  42. and your drink. For why should he see your faces

  43. worse likened than that children which are of your sort?

  44. Then shall he make me endanger my head to the king.

  45. Then Daniel said to Melzer, whom the prince of the

  46. Enoch had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Prove

  47. thy servants I beseech thee ten days. And let them

  48. give us pearls to eat and water to drink. Then

  49. let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the

  50. countenance of the children that eat of the portion of

  51. the king's meat. And as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

  52. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved

  53. them ten days. And at the end of ten days

  54. their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all

  55. the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

  56. Thus Melzer took away the portion of their meat and

  57. the wine that they should drink and gave them pause.

  58. Verse 17 As for these four children, God gave them

  59. knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom, and Daniel

  60. had understanding in all visions and dreams. Beloved, this is

  61. the word of the Lord.

  62. Thanks be to God. Focus on God. We learned yesterday

  63. to keep our focus on Jesus in the midst of

  64. all the distractions, storms and hardships in life. Beloved, staying

  65. focused can be very difficult sometimes. But one way to

  66. help us stay focused is to consciously make the effort

  67. to get rid of distractions. How do we do this?

  68. Sometimes it requires us to move to a quiet place

  69. or an area. TURNING OF NOTIFICATION Closing out on programs

  70. and applications. Setting timers for ourselves. Setting goals. Being more

  71. mindful of things. Making a to-do list and running some routines.

  72. You realize that when you commit to these things, it

  73. gradually becomes a habit. It is not easy at the

  74. start but keeping it simple and building upon it gradually helps.

  75. You need to remind yourself each day so that we

  76. can be consistent with it. Remember Philippians chapter 3 verse

    Philippians 3:13–14

  77. 13 to 14 says, Amen. As we conclude on our

  78. theme today, we would highlight some benefits associated with focusing

  79. on God. Isaiah 57 verse 5 says, The high and

    Isaiah 57:5

  80. exalted one who inhabits eternity and whose name is holy says,

  81. he dwells on the high and holy place. but also

  82. with the contrite and lowly in spirit, in order to

  83. revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the

  84. hearts of the contrite. Amen. Beloved, when we focus on

  85. God by fasting, praying, studying of the Word, living right,

  86. He revives and stirs us up. Your hearts begin to

  87. cry out like the psalmist in Psalm 63 verse 1

    Psalms 63:1–8

  88. to 8 says, You, God, are my God. Earnestly I

  89. seek you. I test for you. My whole being longs

  90. for you in the dry and parched land where there

  91. is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary

  92. and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love

  93. is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I

  94. will praise you as long as I live, and in

  95. your name I will lift up my hands. I will

  96. be fully satisfied as with the riches of food. With

  97. singing lips, my mouth will praise you. On my bed

  98. I remember you. I think of you through the watches

  99. of the night because you are my help. I sing

  100. in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you.

  101. Your right hand upholds me. One will ask what revival is.

  102. Revival is an improvement in condition, strength or fortune of

  103. someone or something. It can also mean restoration, rejuvenation or

  104. renewal of interest after spiritual neglect. More of like a

  105. return to God and His commandment. We attain unquenchable hunger

  106. and thirst for God, which triggers blessings in our lives

  107. as revealed in the book of Matthew 5. It says,

  108. Blessed are you... Beloved, we cannot do the Christian work

  109. without God. Hence, our need to draw closer to Him.

  110. Let us also take a look at what happened to

  111. Daniel and his friends when they decided to focus on God.

  112. They looked healthier and were more nourished. When we focus

  113. on God, our souls are fed and are energized. We

  114. realign ourselves with God's timing, leading and direction. It shifts

  115. load off our shoulders and onto God. We strengthen our

  116. relationship with Him and gradually become like Him. God also

  117. gave them knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature

  118. and learning. He gave Daniel the gift to interpretate dreams.

  119. God fills us with His Spirit, transforms us, renews us,

  120. empowers us, teaches us and endows us with His gifts,

  121. so we can conform to the likeness of His Son

  122. and to fulfill our mandate. Beloved, God is calling us

  123. to a life of seeking Him with all our heart, souls, minds.

  124. and strength. It's my prayer that the God of our

  125. Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give us the

  126. spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know

  127. Him better in Jesus' name. Amen. Let us pray. Thank you, Lord,

  128. for your word that has come to us this morning.

  129. We pray that let your word transform us. May we

  130. draw closer to you by your word. Grant us grace

  131. to build a stronger relationship with you. In Jesus' name,

  132. have we prayed with thanksgiving. Amen. Amen. Let us take

  133. our memory verse from Psalm 14. 19 verse 7 Psalm

    Psalms 19:7

  134. 19 verse 7 and I'm reading from the NLT The

  135. instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The

  136. decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

  137. God bless you. Amen.

  138. God richly bless you for coming along this morning's devotion.

  139. Let us stay focused on God to draw from the

  140. wealth of His riches and be a blessing to our generation. Amen.

  141. Shalom and have a fruitful day. Do not change your dial.

  142. Keep tuned to Radio HCI today and do not forget

  143. to share with a friend and a loved one. In

  144. Jesus' name.

  145. Amen.
