  1. Getting on in 2nd Samuel.

  2. 2nd Samuel, we're um chapter two.

  3. In chapter two, I was honestly, I was looking, I was digging, like, okay, give me something cool to talk about.

  4. Because all I all I got from it was you see a power struggle kind of happening, and then you get down to a battle.

  5. And then as I looked over, I'm like, man, something sticks out.

  6. The difference we see played out between anointed by God and appointed by men.

  7. The difference is between appointed by man and anointed by God.

  8. Let's break that a little bit.

  9. In this particular chapter, we know that at the end of 1 Samuel, Jonathan and Saul both died in the same battle.

  10. And so by dying that particular battle, what happened is in typically it's a hereditary throne.

  11. So when Paul passed, not Paul, Saul passes, the throne would have gone to Jonathan.

  12. But because Jonathan had passed, historically it stays in the family.

  13. So what you have is we see another one of Saul's sons, Ish Bosheth.

  14. He's appointed king by one of Saul's generals.

  15. But we know based on 1 Samuel, God had already moved.

  16. God had moved, he had already appointed, anointed David.

  17. So at this particular time, David's reign is part of the beginning.

  18. He's only king of Judah.

  19. And so at this particular time, David, you know, he's stepping within the grace.

  20. He has the anointing of God, but it's a progressive anointing, and it's starting to make room for him tangibly.

  21. So meaning David was anointed.

  22. When David was anointed by Saul, he was anointed, he was anointed, anointed.

  23. God touched and he was anointed.

  24. But the external manifestation, as far as the enlargement of the place David was to go or the anointing was to take him, it came and stayed.

  25. First of all, from being a teenager to being roughly about late 20s, 30s, before he was recognized as a king in general.

  26. Then moving forward, 37, when he becomes king of the whole thing.

  27. So there is time to where David's anointing begins to be tangible, right?

  28. So we have David anointed by God and the people who recognize and reverence the anointing of God versus Ish Basheth, who's anointed by man, and people who kind of not just go with the flow.

  29. That's that's kind of too simplistic, but this is how things work in the natural.

  30. So people can give you a position, but only God can put his hand upon your life.

  31. Let's continue.

  32. But at the end, we see the favor of God changing the expected outcome.

  33. So Ish Basheth had Saul's institutional backing.

  34. He had the kingdom, Israel, 10 other tribes, who was backing Saul and who was looking to Saul for their leadership.

  35. Judah was looking to David.

  36. And so now you have a situation to the institutional background.

  37. The all the advantages and perks in the natural Ish Boshef actually had.

  38. So this battle expands to the point where there are Ishbashev loses 360 people to David's 20.

  39. 360 people, David's 20.

  40. He has 10 tribes.

  41. Let's just say he had 10 states to two states.

  42. All of them he had every opportunity to fight and to win.

  43. But the anointed one is the one who came on top.

  44. When God's hand is upon something, do not determine its future solely on his present strength.

  45. As believers, as believers, always seek, always seek the presence of God.

  46. As you seek the presence of God, we know He graces, He anoints, and He supports us in His will.

  47. That's one thing that David did.

  48. Go back to the first the first two verses of 2 Samuel.

  49. David is looking to God.

  50. What should I do?

  51. He's anointed, but at what he do, he casts uh casts his crown down.

  52. All right, God, yes, I'm anointed.

  53. You favored me.

  54. People see this to an extent, everybody doesn't, but enough people do to where now, God, you are my leader.

  55. Where do I go?

  56. How do I do this?

  57. And so God tells him, Hey, move forward.

  58. God, where's my next step?

  59. God directs his next step.

  60. And because of that, he's in his place called there.

  61. He's in his place where God has favored and protected him.

  62. Why?

  63. Because he's inside the will of God.

  64. As we grow, as we move forward, always look for God.

  65. Where's your will?

  66. Where are you?

  67. Because wherever you are, that's where I want to be.

  68. God ain't there, I don't want to be there.

  69. God is not calling me there, I don't want to be there.

  70. If God hasn't led me there, I don't want to be there.

  71. But if God is leading me there, so be it.

  72. Please expect as you move in in the will of God, there will be opposition, there will be challenges.

  73. Still kill and destroy.

  74. A lot of times he wants to steal our consistency, discipline, and focus on the word of God, on the leading of God.

  75. He wants us to get off that because he knows as long as we hold on, like the OPP say, uh Saints of Old Saint, we long as we hold on to God's unchanging hand, you're good.

  76. But if he can get you to let go of God's hand, if he can get you to stop seeking him first, if he can get you to stop pursuing, to stop being patient with God, what does that mean?

  77. A lot of times we have natural situations, pressure.

  78. We know one of the tricks of the enemy in Mark chapter 4 is persecution and affliction, affliction, pressure caused by situations.

    Mark 4 chapter mention

  79. And so he wants to pressure us to making a rush decision, or a lot of time a decision that's against the will of God.

  80. Why?

  81. Because he knows as long as you're in your place called there, you in his will for you.

  82. David had that work in his favor.

  83. He had he was anointed by God and appointed by God for such time as that and only that for a position of king.

  84. And there were rights that came with that.

  85. But because David did what Saul window, he acknowledged and kept God first, and he obeyed God at all costs.

  86. David had favor, and he was patient with God to allow God to unfold his story.

  87. Why did I say that?

  88. Because we know David progressively took the kingdom.

  89. Sure, he won it all at one time, we all do, but he progressively did it in stages.

  90. There are things in your life that God will unfold in stages.

  91. But the question is, will you stay connected to the vision?

  92. Will you hold on to what God told you as you're walking it out in faith?

  93. Or will you allow debt, doubt, worry, stress, and fear to still kill and destroy your consistency, discipline, and focus, your tenacity.

  94. Because if you go back to Mark chapter four, what is the enemy coming after?

  95. The word.

  96. The word God has spoken over your life, the word God has spoken to you.

  97. So the enemy can take you away from that, can get you off of the word, can get you stopped meditating on the word, get you stop expecting the word to come to pass.

  98. You isolate and you by yourself, and you stepping outside of the protection of God.

  99. And please know in the Greek text there are two words for words.

  100. One is rhema, one is logos.

  101. It's interesting because in spiritual warfare, the word for word is actually rhema.

  102. The word in Ephesians chapter six, it talks about the story of spirit.

  103. That's the rhema.

  104. Leave that right there.

  105. I'm gonna let the Bible scholars and the deep Bible readers tell us more about that one.

  106. I'm gonna pause right here.
