  5. Thanks for listening.

  6. Good morning, Church family.

  7. Good morning, church family.

  8. Okay, that's much better.

  9. I was like, okay, don't let a chocolate preacher come up here and y'all want to get quiet.

  10. That's not gonna work out well in your favor, amen.

  11. Good morning, Spring Valley Baptist.

  12. What an honor to be before you today.

  13. First of all, giving honor and glory to God, our magnificent Savior and King and Creator, and to the angel of this house, my dear brother and friend Blake Jenkins, to his beautiful family, thank y'all for allowing us to come.

  14. And uh it's uh it's an honor to be here.

  15. There's a lot of my family and friends here today, some who belong here and have stayed here, um, but some who have come visiting.

  16. So I'm gonna preach like I'm at home.

  17. Can I do that?

  18. If you hadn't met me before, my name's Stephen.

  19. That's who we were talking about.

  20. And you're like, who's the brother with the hair?

  21. Somebody grab him.

  22. It's okay.

  23. Um, but I'm here to share with you about the Lord Jesus.

  24. And today's text, which Ann so beautifully read for us, I would have loved to partner on that more.

  25. We're gonna play that out sometime.

  26. But I want you to consider this title for the message, overall picture for the message from the word that the Lord's given us today.

  27. The title for this message is this Your Purpose in His Plan.

  28. Your Purpose in His Plan.

  29. Now I'm gonna give you the overarching picture of chapter four, but then we're gonna focus on these first 13 verses.

  30. Can y'all stay with me for a moment?

  31. Chapter 4, you have this rebuttal, this back and forth conversation with God and Moses, and then you have Moses finally just go, okay, I'm gonna do it.

  32. And he goes and tells his father-in-law he's about to go back to Egypt.

  33. And right after that conversation, they're packing up to leave, and Zipporah has to cut the foreskin off her sons and throw it at Moses' feet.

  34. I'll let Dr.

  35. Blake Jenkins share that whole thing with you.

  36. But it's it's a it's an important part of the part of chapter four, but it's it's a picture of, hey, God doesn't give excuses for you choosing not to obey.

  37. And that everything has a purpose and he says to do, and you must do it to the completion, even when it's challenging, painful, or awkward.

  38. And so with that, he closes out chapter four, and you see him, you actually see something really cool, I'll say that at the end, but the last verse of chapter four, you see the thing come to fruition that Moses is arguing won't happen here.

  39. So let's start at verse one.

  40. In chapter four, read it with, oh you don't have to say it out loud, I'll just read it because I'm I'm a walk-by the whole text guy.

  41. But I know there's a timer on a chocolate preacher, so I'm gonna stick to it.

  42. Moses answered and said, now mind you, chapter three, they started this dialogue.

  43. Moses was excited.

  44. I want y'all to hear this.

  45. And I know, I know Dr.

  46. Blake Jenkins did a great job giving you this, but I'm just sharing to remind you from last week.

  47. He saw a burning bush.

  48. And the Lord was talking to him from this flaming bush.

  49. And he's like, the Lord's gonna do what I tried to do 40 years ago.

  50. I've been waiting for this amazing deliverance of my people.

  51. And God's telling him, I've heard the cry.

  52. I'm going to deliver them.

  53. It's going to work because I'm in it.

  54. And then he says, and I'm sending you.

  55. And that's when Moses tries to flip the script.

  56. Moses tries to step back and go, wait a minute, I didn't sign up for that.

  57. I want you to do it, God.

  58. He says, I am gonna do it.

  59. And I'm sending you to do it with me.

  60. See, that's our problem sometimes, right?

  61. We want God just to wave his hand, snap his fingers like Thanos, or do something crazy, but we don't want to engage with God to do the work with God.

  62. And that is why we exist.

  63. To glorify God, to love him, but also to obey him, to show him to others who don't know him yet.

  64. And if you know him, and he says, Keep my commandments, part of keeping his commandments is not you, is you not keeping his commandments silent.

  65. And so here we have Moses, he's responding to God.

  66. I find this to be a hilarious statement, by the way.

  67. He says, But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice.

  68. Wow, Moses.

  69. Like, I I fast forward way in Matthew to Peter, not so, Lord.

  70. Because in chapter 3, verse 18, what did the Lord say?

  71. The exact thing he said was, they're going to listen to you and believe you.

  72. And here's Moses' response.

  73. They're not gonna listen to me.

  74. They're not gonna believe me.

  75. Right?

  76. It's like, come on, Moses, what are you doing?

  77. Now, I'm gonna try to take it easy on my I haven't met him yet, friend.

  78. But I love Moses.

  79. And I can understand some of his fears.

  80. But when the Lord says, this will be, what's your response?

  81. Y'all mumble through that whole.

  82. I thought I was in church.

  83. When the Lord says, do it.

  84. Pastor.

  85. Right?

  86. I mean, you gotta consider Moses is literally being told, go back to the place you fled from.

  87. Go back to the people that you feel rejected you.

  88. Go talk to the person who's a descendant of the man you thought was gonna take your life.

  89. And Moses heard God, you know, I'm not gonna teach the three layers of listening, but I don't think Moses was listening.

  90. The moment the Lord said, and I'm sending you, boop, boop.

  91. Right?

  92. You know anybody like that?

  93. As soon as you say the thing they don't like, they plug their ears up.

  94. Yeah, nothing else you said.

  95. You might as well be going wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah.

  96. Right?

  97. He says, they're not gonna believe me.

  98. They're not gonna listen.

  99. For they will say, you know how you sit at home and you have a conversation with yourself?

  100. You'll play out the back and forth.

  101. Okay, I'm gonna go over here because they're looking like, Pastor, don't call me out like that.

  102. In that conversation back and forth, how many times does that conversation end well?

  103. Right?

  104. You are pulling up all your defensive weapons, you're pulling up all the defensive tactics, you're rebuttaling what you think they're going to say.

  105. And how many times have you done that play back and forth and actually had the hard conversation?

  106. They go, okay, that sounds great.

  107. You with me right now?

  108. Because most of the time, when you play it out in your head, the worst possible action and ending is the only thing you can think of.

  109. Because we're so hard on ourselves, aren't we?

  110. Here's Moses, he's almost done.

  111. Lord.

  112. They're not gonna hear me, they're not gonna believe my voice.

  113. And they're gonna say, the Lord did not appear to you.

  114. I'm thinking, come on, Moses.

  115. The Lord just showed up in a burning bush.

  116. You think he can't make somebody open their ears up a little bit?

  117. I'm gonna be a good Baptist and give you some points, okay?

  118. Here's your first one.

  119. Here's your first point.

  120. I'm gonna be a weird Baptist and give you four.

  121. The first one.

  122. Believe what God has already said, then trust him with your obedience.

  123. Believe what God has already said, then trust him with your obedience.

  124. How does faith really work?

  125. I've always broken it down this way, because most people quote Hebrews 11:1.

    Hebrews 11:1

  126. Faith is the subject, substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen.

  127. That's not really a definition, that's more of a syllogism.

  128. So let me just say it this way: Faith has three major parts: knowledge, belief, and trust with your actions.

  129. Now, knowledge is information.

  130. Belief is you taking what you know and believing that it's true.

  131. But how does someone know what you believe?

  132. By you saying it?

  133. Nope.

  134. By how you do it, like the pews you just sat in.

  135. Uh I don't want to call anybody out, but does anybody on this side of the room know the manufacturer for the pews you sit in?

  136. Nope.

  137. Did you check the bolts, screws, and cushions for any dangers before you sat in them?

  138. Nope.

  139. You got a whole lot of faith in this inanimate object that was made by an unknown person that was put in this place, and you sit down with your whole weight.

  140. Right?

  141. But somehow we come to the creator of all things, and our faith goes to zero, even though he made you and everything around you, and by the substance of his word and power, he sustains you.

  142. You can sleep in your brain, lungs, heart, blood veins, everything works perfectly while you're sleeping because God's sustaining it by the word of his power, and you give him zero, but you give the bench a hundred.

  143. Believe God.

  144. Believe God in what he says and trust him with your obedience.

  145. There we go.

  146. We're working together right now.

  147. I'm gonna keep going.

  148. God responds.

  149. I'm in verse two.

  150. I will get through all 13.

  151. I'm telling you, I'm gonna get there.

  152. Verse 2, and the Lord responds to Moses.

  153. You know what I love?

  154. God doesn't even argue with him.

  155. If you notice, Jesus does the same thing in the New Testament, Matthew.

  156. Someone gives him something foolish, he goes, let me subject change.

  157. Right?

  158. Like some people you just can't even go back and forth with because they're not listening.

  159. Moses isn't really listening.

  160. So the Lord's like, hey man, what's in your hand?

  161. I love this.

  162. I love this.

  163. Because you I gotta paint the picture for you.

  164. He says, What's in your hand?

  165. Now, does God ignorant to what's in his hand?

  166. Does God have his eyes closed?

  167. No.

  168. What's he doing?

  169. Getting Moses to pay attention.

  170. Hey, what's in your hand?

  171. Right?

  172. Moses holding his staff, he goes, a staff.

  173. Like stay with me.

  174. It's right.

  175. This is the Bible.

  176. This is the Bible.

  177. What does he do?

  178. A staff, right?

  179. Watch what happens next.

  180. He says, throw it on the ground.

  181. Now, this is where it gets interesting.

  182. Because Moses says it's a staff.

  183. My stick.

  184. How long has he had this stick?

  185. Probably as long as he's been shepherding.

  186. He slept beside this stick.

  187. He's worked with this stick.

  188. He's had this stick the whole time.

  189. He still had this bush, by the way.

  190. It's a stick.

  191. Throws it on the ground.

  192. It turns into a snake.

  193. Okay, I'm gonna go over here because y'all give me that look again.

  194. I gotta go, I gotta move a little bit because this is how I know.

  195. This is a real story.

  196. You realize Moses is writing this, right?

  197. Moses could have made himself look really courageous, magnificently worrisome.

  198. He could have been this amazingly faithful, incredible human being.

  199. But he's arguing with God about what God said and what God can do.

  200. He's literally holding a stick, he throws it on the ground, it turns to a snake, and he runs.

  201. What's that in your hand?

  202. It's a stick.

  203. Throw it on the ground.

  204. Okay.

  205. What the world?

  206. Right?

  207. Y'all gotta see this.

  208. Moses got scared at his own stick.

  209. Because God was like, you think they're not gonna believe me?

  210. You think I can't get their attention?

  211. I got your attention.

  212. I got you to come over to this bush.

  213. You got your shoes off.

  214. You're talking to the bush that's on fire.

  215. And you think I can't have them listen to you.

  216. Second point.

  217. God can use what you already have to accomplish what you can't even imagine.

  218. God can use what you already have to accomplish what you can't even imagine.

  219. You see, first you gotta believe God.

  220. Know something about him, believe him, and then walk out what you say you believe with your whole life.

  221. And then don't say, Lord, give me some more stuff.

  222. Lord's gonna say, like, what you already got that you're ignoring, that you're not paying attention to, that I can use for my glory because I do amazing with what everyone else ignores.

  223. Okay?

  224. Watch this.

  225. I'm going into verse 4.

  226. But the Lord said to Moses, put out your hand and do what?

  227. See, see, look, this is how I read the word, okay?

  228. Because I'm I'm just a real person.

  229. And what did he do when it turned into a snake?

  230. Okay, anybody here play with snakes?

  231. Let me just see a couple hands.

  232. I see one, two, yep.

  233. Not at my church.

  234. I mean, I we ain't charming nothing, we ain't playing no flutes.

  235. We ain't got the little baskets.

  236. Look, Mark 16, that that was for them at that time.

  237. That ain't for us right now.

  238. We ain't playing with no snakes.

  239. Let me see that joke in the garden.

  240. Hey, get that um that tool, because we ain't playing with that snake, right?

  241. So I understand Moses.

  242. I get it.

  243. Now the Lord's like, put your hand on it.

  244. Man, look, you notice there's no dialogue between them, right?

  245. Moses right now, what he said or felt, he just went straight to the action.

  246. But I know if you ran from that snake, you didn't just go, okay, God, right?

  247. Come on, man.

  248. I know there was, I can't add to the text.

  249. I'm not doing that.

  250. I'm just thinking this is a real dude with a real snake on a real ground in a real moment with a real bush still burning.

  251. Like, he says, stick at your hand and grab the tail.

  252. What's he do?

  253. He reaches down and he grabs his tail.

  254. And what happens?

  255. Watch this.

  256. And he caught it and it became a staff in his hand.

  257. Now he's got his old stick back.

  258. I'm telling you, he questioned that stick for the rest of his life.

  259. I'm telling you, every day he's going to bed, Zipporas beside him.

  260. So what happened the day at work?

  261. I, if I tell you, you're gonna make me leave my stick outside.

  262. He said this, that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.

  263. He just find out goes in.

  264. They're gonna see that snake, they're gonna believe too.

  265. Just like you starting to get it.

  266. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want, through whomever I want.

  267. Listen, I don't sit on some pedestal because the Lord speaks through me.

  268. You understand?

  269. Because in Numbers 22, he spoke to Balaam through his donkey.

  270. So let's just calm that down for a second.

  271. Here, he said, I'm gonna do something, just this isn't for the people, the people gonna listen to him.

  272. This is so Moses can get it.

  273. Sometimes the Lord does something in and to and around you so you can get it.

  274. Because if you talk to somebody else and you're not convinced within yourself, how's it gonna sound?

  275. Yeah, you should really come visit my church.

  276. Um, we we make lives get changed and disciples and uh uh yeah, you're gonna be different when the word the singing's good and everything, you know what I mean?

  277. We who are you convincing with that?

  278. Who on earth is gonna go?

  279. I can't wait to visit Spring Valley Baptist.

  280. No, nigga.

  281. Where's the conviction?

  282. Where is the hope?

  283. Where's the joy?

  284. Where's the evidence of your own transformation?

  285. Tell the story without shame.

  286. Moses is.

  287. He's like, tell him.

  288. The Lord sent me, the Lord sang it.

  289. Here it comes.

  290. God's not done dealing with him on this.

  291. Again, the Lord said to him, put your hand inside your cloak.

  292. Now, I don't know about you.

  293. I'd have been real nervous.

  294. First, my stick.

  295. I'm not gonna pull out a lion.

  296. What is this?

  297. I don't know what's my hand is going in my cloak.

  298. He sticks it in and he pulls it back out, and it was leprous as snow.

  299. Now, many of us have no clue what leprosy looks like in person, but it was incurable and highly contagious.

  300. Okay?

  301. And it's literally on his arm.

  302. His whole skin complexion was changed to a pale, flaky, snowy color in his face.

  303. And he probably responded in his feelings in that moment.

  304. Lord, why you mess with my hand?

  305. Because you would have, right?

  306. I mean, I don't know if what I'd do if I stuck my hand in my coat and it came out and I was okay, don't make it a race thing.

  307. I'm just saying it would have it'd just been weird if I had a different color.

  308. Don't give me that look.

  309. He he gave this man gave me the look just now, like, bruh, we get it, you brown doll.

  310. Let it go.

  311. I'm like, that ain't what I was doing just now.

  312. I'm past that.

  313. We just he pulls it out, it's leprous.

  314. Now God's like, okay, now put it back.

  315. He goes, but it's contagious, Lord.

  316. Right?

  317. And he sticks it back in.

  318. And once he does that, he says, now watch this.

  319. So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.

  320. I'm at verse 8.

  321. If they will not believe you, God said, or listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign.

  322. If they will not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice.

  323. Now God's responding to the crazy statement he made earlier, right?

  324. Because God already said they're gonna do that, but he's like, if they don't, I got something for that too.

  325. Just so you can be convinced.

  326. You shall take some water from the Nile, pour it on the ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.

  327. Wow.

  328. Wow.

  329. He grew up on that Nile.

  330. He was put on that Nile in a basket as a baby.

  331. He knows that everyone around knows that that Nile is full of water.

  332. To scoop out one thing and pour out another thing, that would be a miracle.

  333. I feel like we've read a story about somebody scooping in water and something else coming out.

  334. Maybe it was Jesus.

  335. I don't know.

  336. Maybe Jesus scooped into some six large water pots and poured out some wine, and everybody was like, Because God does that.

  337. God doesn't just change the contents, he changes the context to those who believe and trust and obey.

  338. Because God is good all of the time.

  339. And all of the time.

  340. God is good.

  341. Here's my third point.

  342. What God shows you personally, he wants you to share publicly.

  343. What God shows you personally, he wants you to share publicly.

  344. Okay.

  345. Y'all have heard this word before.

  346. Testimony.

  347. Well, there's no testimony without a test, right?

  348. Right?

  349. And if you go through that test, once you get past test, then there's testimony.

  350. But if you don't ever talk about the test, it's test I.

  351. If God trusted to put it in your hand, that means that you can handle it.

  352. Okay, I'm gonna try over here and try to talk to somebody.

  353. If God loved you enough to give you a trial to go through in your hand, that means he's trusting you to handle it.

  354. No matter how challenging, no matter how difficult, no matter how awful it may feel in that moment, he wants someone else to hear about him through you.

  355. But if you close your mouth, then you're silencing what God can do through you and them.

  356. Because maybe, just maybe, God believed you to be the vessel he could choose to send the message of his goodness.

  357. Moses is 80 years old, by the way.

  358. Moses feels like he's lived out his prime.

  359. He's just getting started.

  360. Like this guy's gonna be climbing mountains at 100 years old, okay?

  361. And here's the part I don't want you to miss.

  362. Moses is really fighting against God in his conversation because he just don't want to do it.

  363. God's removed every reason for him to not know he can do this.

  364. That God's with them.

  365. I mean, what's impossible for man is possible with God.

  366. That shouldn't be enough.

  367. However, God's like, bruh, I got you, bruh, I got you, I got you, I got you.

  368. But he's doing something in Moses.

  369. So he can do something through Moses.

  370. And some of you are in the same space, fighting where God's called you to be, fighting where God's called you to go, fighting where God's called you to deliver your testimony to somebody because you want to feel embarrassed about what's happened.

  371. God brought you through it.

  372. You've been delivered.

  373. And if you haven't, you're still in it.

  374. You need someone else's testimony so you can be an overcomer like they are.

  375. But how are you gonna get the help you need if you keep your mouth closed?

  376. We're supposed to minister to one another.

  377. Okay, I'm at verse 10.

  378. I'm gonna make it, I'm gonna make it.

  379. But that is a terrible start to a verse after God's finished talking.

  380. That's a terrible man.

  381. Okay, y'all have conversations with God?

  382. This is just me.

  383. You talk to the Lord sometimes?

  384. Okay, good.

  385. Keep doing it.

  386. But make sure that you're doing more listening than talking.

  387. Because he knows everything.

  388. Before you even say it.

  389. I'm not saying don't talk.

  390. It's therapeutic to get that out.

  391. It's important.

  392. God loves you not to listen because he's a great guy.

  393. But make sure you're listening back.

  394. You wouldn't do that on a phone call with a person, would you?

  395. Would you pick up the phone and call somebody?

  396. Okay, bye.

  397. Hang up.

  398. And not let them say anything.

  399. Maybe when you get done praying, even after Amen, you actually sit still.

  400. Be still and know I'm God.

  401. Okay.

  402. Just actually let the Lord open your Bible, start reading.

  403. Maybe sometimes jump off the page.

  404. Maybe.

  405. Maybe you'll come to a small group or Bible study.

  406. You'll sit in something, and the Lord will use someone else's words to get through to you.

  407. They'll have no clue what you're going through, but it hits you different.

  408. Because God wants you to hear him.

  409. But after you hear, hear and do.

  410. But this but that's a pivot.

  411. That means that you're going against what he just said.

  412. Watch.

  413. But Moses said to the Lord.

  414. I mean, it just gets better.

  415. Oh Lord.

  416. My Lord.

  417. I'm not eloquent.

  418. I can, I mean, can you just see him right now trying to DJ his words?

  419. Right?

  420. Moses, you've been talking straight this whole time.

  421. No stuttering.

  422. And now, I'm not eloquent.

  423. Either in the past or since you've spoken to your servant, I am slow of speech and of tongue.

  424. See, this is when I start feeling for the Lord, okay?

  425. Because I'd have been wilding out on Moses.

  426. Bruh, are you kidding me right now?

  427. So, first of all, Moses got the greatest education known to the world.

  428. In Egypt, not only are they a great nation, but they have the great education.

  429. It's all there, and he got it from the inside.

  430. Ivy League School, if you will, okay?

  431. And now he's all of a sudden can't talk?

  432. All of a sudden you can't speak.

  433. Nowhere else in Exodus, one or two, did we see Moses had a stuttering problem?

  434. But all of a sudden, oh yeah, Lord, mama.

  435. What?

  436. Can we just stay real for a second?

  437. I love God's response though.

  438. Then the Lord said to him, Who made man's mouth?

  439. Who makes him mute or deaf or sing or blind?

  440. Is it not I, the Lord?

  441. I love that.

  442. You know why I love that?

  443. Because the Lord finally just said, Okay, boy.

  444. Okay, maybe that's just how the Lord talks to me.

  445. You can just say he said something more holy if that makes you feel better.

  446. But at that moment, the Lord had to really get real with him.

  447. I don't know about you, but I want the Lord to be real with me.

  448. Just tell me, Lord.

  449. I just need it plain.

  450. Because sometimes I'm slow in hearing.

  451. But he just flat out told me, I made every facet of you.

  452. I knew you before I made you.

  453. I made a plan for you.

  454. Who do you think made the choice to deliver you to your mother and put you in the river?

  455. Who you think put Pharaoh's daughter out to bathe, or you just so happen to be sliding down the line?

  456. Who you think got you in that house and had them call your mother back to be your wet nurse and care for you and teach you about your people?

  457. Who do you think raised you up for 40 years?

  458. Then called you out to leave the place?

  459. Who do you think had Jethro's daughters out tending to the flock and had you have the wherewithal to be able to nurture them and care for them and be recognized and brought in and marry one of them?

  460. Who do you think sustained you while you walk through the wilderness and cover the sheep that I put into your care under Jethro?

  461. Who do you think gave Jethro the heart to receive you and love you and train you?

  462. Who do you think got you outwalking the sheep that you have today in this woman saying?

  463. Who do you think's in this bush talking to you?

  464. At what point do we say, you know what, God might actually have a plan?

  465. God might actually be, He might actually be good to me.

  466. So then God can say this in verse 13 or verse 12.

  467. Now therefore, go.

  468. And I will be with your mouth.

  469. So specific.

  470. Not just I'll be with you, I'll be with your mouth.

  471. He says your mouth the problem, I'll be with your mouth.

  472. And I'll teach you what you shall speak.

  473. Problem solved.

  474. Right, Moses?

  475. You would think that would be his response.

  476. But verse 13, you see that word?

  477. Start the verse?

  478. But the problem.

  479. But he said, Oh my Lord.

  480. Please send somebody else.

  481. I mean, now we're getting to the core of it.

  482. All the stuff.

  483. Just not me.

  484. Just not me.

  485. I look, they done rejected me.

  486. My own people tried to tell me who am I?

  487. What?

  488. I'm talking to a flaming bush right now.

  489. Like, can you just can you get somebody else?

  490. Anybody?

  491. And the Lord's trying to convince Moses, I made you for this.

  492. If I wanted somebody else, someone else would be here.

  493. At what point are you gonna say, Lord, I'm sorry for making you wait so long?

  494. I'm gonna say yes to you and do what you've called me to do.

  495. At what point are we going to actually surrender to the Creator and say, Lord, you're right.

  496. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  497. Even the challenges I face, even the difficulties and the difficult people and the trials in my own heart and the temptations that are around me, I can overcome because you're with me.

  498. And not just say, send somebody else.

  499. If you're thinking, oh, I'm not worthy, you're right.

  500. None of us are.

  501. Until Jesus imparts his righteousness upon us.

  502. The right one, the righteous, the holy one, believing in him, receiving the grace of the Father to have the Spirit move and draw you to the Son, that makes you right with God, thus righteous, thus holy in him.

  503. And now the disciple-making process begins of the sanctification of drawing out what was and making you what you will be.

  504. But when you say, Lord, don't change me, you're telling God you're just fine the way you are.

  505. Listen, there's no such thing as me and God got an understanding.

  506. What?

  507. Me and God got an understanding?

  508. I'll tell you what you need to understand.

  509. God is God and you're not.

  510. You're the one that needs to change, not him.

  511. God does not compromise.

  512. He's God.

  513. He's not gonna make adjustments for sin because you don't like something that he doesn't like.

  514. Okay.

  515. Here's my fourth and final point.

  516. God knows exactly who you are and all you've done.

  517. So trust him with your next step.

  518. God knows exactly who you are and all you've done.

  519. So trust him with your next step.

  520. Can I tell you one more overarching thing that's really important to see here?

  521. God just overcame all of Moses' great fears.

  522. The serpent was Moses' fear of death by Pharaoh's hands.

  523. The leprosy and the hand, that was the fear of Moses' appearance and how he would appear to the people whom he loved.

  524. And the last one, when he says the blood in the river, that was Moses' fear of everything in his life changing.

  525. Everything that he thought was is now going to be completely different than he expected, and nowhere closer the same.

  526. Let me tell you what happens when you choose to follow Jesus.

  527. You're changed.

  528. Your thoughts, your words, your responses, but everything around you will start being impacted by what's changed in you.

  529. Salvation is not just habit change.

  530. Salvation is a true, deep internal adjustment.

  531. You are made new in Him.

  532. You're gonna think differently.

  533. Stuff that used to be acceptable will sicken you.

  534. All of a sudden, that stuff on your phone, you won't have to consider scrolling anymore.

  535. You're gonna put it down because you're like, no, I need to pick this up.

  536. And you're gonna say, I need to be around other believers because I need to get strengthened in this relationally, so I can be relational to my neighbors.

  537. You shouldn't always be asking, what information does my church have?

  538. How about you get information to your church of what's your neighbor's name?

  539. We have a responsibility.

  540. So, underneath it all, God and his plan is to reach the lost and the enslaved.

  541. God's plan has always been to reach those who are far from him and set the captives free.

  542. How do we know this?

  543. Because in chapter 3, verses 7 and 8, he says, I've heard the cries of my people.

  544. I've heard about their groaning, I see the oppression upon them, and I've come to make them free.

  545. And so Jesus is why he says in John chapter 8, he's very clear.

    John 8 chapter mention

  546. He says, If you believe in me and my words, I will make you free.

  547. And the response from those Jews in John 8, verse 33 was, We've never been enslaved.

    John 8:33

  548. Y'all realize we're in Exodus, right?

  549. The whole book is about them getting freed from okay.

  550. Well, this guy clearly knows on people's history.

  551. And Jesus was like, He who lives in sin is a slave to sin, and whom the Son sets free is free.

  552. Where is your condition with Jesus today?

  553. Because through all the layers of history, we see the need for Jesus.

  554. Here's the reality the Israelites needed a deliverer, the Israelites needed someone to get them out of their bondage.

  555. So the Lord was sending Moses.

  556. Some of us here, we have received our deliverer, our Savior, Jesus the Christ.

  557. And the reality is you didn't just get saved to sit, you were called to go.

  558. That's what church means in the Greek, the called out ones.

  559. The church isn't a place, it's a people.

  560. And if that's true, then you're called to do something.

  561. And whatever that is, say yes to the Lord, not but.

  562. But if you're here today and you have not been introduced to Jesus, and you feel the Spirit drawing you to respond to Him, let today be the day that you make the choice to finally say, Lord, it's me.

  563. You sent your son Jesus to die for my sins, and I believe that.

  564. Now I'm willing to go with you wherever you want me to.

  565. Come in and change me.

  566. So, Pastor Jenkins, he's gonna come, he's gonna stand here, and as we sing, as we are preparing to worship again, I want you to respond in the way the Lord leads you.

  567. I want you to respond in repenting for telling God He can't do it through you.

  568. Lord, pick somebody else, or respond to Jesus and say, Lord, I believe today.

  569. Come in and change me.

  570. Let's pray together.

  571. Holy Father in heaven, our magnificent King, our Lord, our creator and our Redeemer, Father, today in Jesus' name, Lord, let us be faithful in responding to you for your glory.

  572. May everything that you want done through us be achieved and accomplished, that your fruitfulness may be revealed by the trees of your people.

  573. Lord, I pray for the hope that needs to be restored in somebody today, that you are still working and you are still a wonderworking God.

  574. And Father, in Jesus' name, I pray that you draw out those whom you're calling to the work.

  575. And Lord, let them begin to be equipped for the work of ministry.

  576. Not hoping someone else steps in their place, but they're willing to stand up and say, Lord, it's me.

  577. I hear you, Lord, send me.

  578. And Lord, for the lost one, for the one who doesn't know you, let today be the day that they confess you, Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts and confess with their mouth that they may be saved.

  579. And join us in the work for your glory.

  580. Lord Jesus, we pray this with gratitude in our hearts in your magnificent name and all of God's people say.

  581. Amen.
