It Is Written - Martin Valente

We read the word in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Okay, then Jesus was led for one.

Matthew four.

Got it.

Jesus was led off the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Listen to what it says.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the son of God, come on these stones to be made bread.

We're gonna come back to this.

Then the devil take him into the holy city.

Look what he says.

This is the devil, okay?

It is written, the devil says to Jesus.

So it is written, it is written, it is written, it is written.

So we're gonna leave it at that.

And we're gonna go back to that.

Because like I said, we're gonna park ourselves right there.

Hebrews 5 14.

But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Like I said, are we gonna talk about Jesus?

Because that verse right here is essential.

To our spiritual discerning spiritual to start developing our spiritual senses.

It's not there.

It's called It is Written.

And we're gonna start here with the true Israel.

You took them out of Egypt.

The Lord is talking about the people of Israel.

So my people perished for lack of what?

Him.

What does it mean to be spiritual?

We have created this idea that being spiritual is to be levitating.

And we tell people, we show people that we're so spiritual.

But it might be that there is no spirit there.

It could also be that we just create the spiritual atmosphere.

But in the explanation there is no biblical guidance.

Why?

Because the spirit is the spirit of truth.

And he will lead you.

But he will lead you to what?

To all truth.

He can't lead you anywhere else.

He will lead you to the truth.

So if he leads you to the truth, then it's victory.

It's the same ideology of the devil that still comes and he wants to make you fail.

That you don't listen to God that you don't necessarily engage in the things of God.

Why did a people fail those 40 years?

Lack of what?

Lack of knowledge.

So you notice that in order for us to be spiritual people, we need to be led by the spirit.

We like to do all these things and levitate.

That we're volatile.

All the time we're levitating.

We don't do any good to help our brothers and sisters.

Look at Jesus here.

You know what he was, his whole heart and mind was set into?

Fulfilling that which the people of Israel have failed.

Father, I know they failed.

But I am here to fulfill your will to make sure that this thing that you have commanded me is not gonna fail.

So why would Jesus was able to do that?

Because he was spiritual.

He was not focused on the things of this world.

He was focused on the things of the kingdom.

Notice that he was not telling the devil this, this, and that, and here, there, and look at the stars, and look at this wind, and blah, blah, blah.

He could have.

But he didn't.

What did he say?

It is written.

It is written.

Now it's funny when when I hear uh some people, you know, like they want to rebuke the devil.

And they say some cute stuff.

Because it is written.

And the devil is like, uh huh.

Uh-huh.

Oh, he doesn't know what's written.

He's just quoting and that it's written.

But he doesn't know what is written.

You see that there is power.

We're gonna get there.

No, today we're gonna get there.

I'm not saying that you're gonna get there eventually one day.

No, we're gonna get there right now.

Matter of fact, you are there.

The problem is that we fail.

We fail on the application of the importance.

The word of God.

You cannot be spiritual if you don't know the word of God.

You will not be victorious if you know the word of God.

Let me tell you one thing.

Jesus has fasted 40 days.

He was looking at the problem.

The devil.

He wants you to go and drag yourself back down into the mud.

Because the devil knows that he can have what you have.

So then he can go back to God and says, look at your son.

And then you instead of believing what is written, you believe the mystical things of your condition.

Yeah, but I feel like that.

And the devil comes and says, Yeah, because you're like that.

And you instead of quoting the scripture, you start believing that other side that says that it is written.

Because look at the devil did came and taught Jesus, Jesus, it is written.

Now after fasting for 40 days, let me tell you something to you and I.

Did it make sense that Jesus would have said, I mean, true, I've been I'm hungry, I've been fasting for 40 days.

Yeah, I'm already out of my fasting.

I'm done with that.

Praise the Lord.

But now I enter into disobedience.

Right after the fasting.

That's the crazy part.

So the 40 40 days that we went through all that.

That you fall into disobedience, by the way.

The people of Israel were taking 40 years to learn something.

In their stubbornness, they went through this whole thing.

God took him by the hand.

He was the cloud in the day.

These people looking at all these great miracles, signs and wonders.

And the Bible said that they still fail to obey, to hollow God.

Are we people?

Are we spiritual people?

We are people of the word.

It's crazy.

And they were come back, and they were they were already worshipping cattles, worshipping whatever kinds of things.

The old son of the flesh that felt to hollow the Lord, Israel.

Now is confronted with the new Son and the Spirit, on the Spirit, Jesus, that he understood his assignment.

Three ways that he was tempted.

That if we are not spiritual, we're gonna fall into temptation.

But because we are spiritual, we don't listen, we don't participate of the machinations of the enemy.

Self-gratification instead of waiting upon the Lord, Jesus could have said yeah.

I could do that because I have the power.

Instead of you feeding with the word of God, we feed with any volatile idea that brings a momentary gratification momentary.

And you feel good in that moment.

What happened when you left the spot?

Back to your old self.

What a pastor was saying in his teaching last week.

The snacks that the pastor is talking, I pray you don't take chips.

And good snacks is the word of God.

So let's go back to the word.

So the first thing that Jesus was attempted, it is written, he said.

But this was not invented here in Matthew 4 4.

Jesus did not invent this phrase here.

Jesus is quoting back.

What was written?

Where?

In the Tanakh, in the Torah specifically.

Jesus knew this.

The devil comes and tempted, and he says, Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with mana, a fruit previously known, to you and to the ancestors.

He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone, rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

You notice that Jesus wasn't here just like, eh, what should I say to this guy?

I'm gonna invent me something right now on the spot.

Because I'm good.

Obedience.

That is what it means to be spiritual.

Obviously the word of God.

It is written.

And say uh then the devil took it, took him into the holy city and set in him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, verse five, and said unto him, If you be the son of God, cast thyself down, for it is man.

That is crazy.

The devil will come and coach the scriptures to to make you fall.

And look at Jesus.

Cruise, cruise, cruise.

Think about you knowing your DNA in Christ.

You knowing your DNA in God.

Who He has made you.

And that the enemy comes and tempts you tempt you with these ideologies.

Look, I know he's your God.

But look, look how you're living, look how you go in this, look what happened.

I can give you everything.

You can have everything.

That's crazy.

But you know what is the crazier part?

That we wouldn't have the word of God in us.

And that we might fall, or that we would fall into that temptation.

To think that the kingdom that we are seeking is the kingdom of this earth instead of the kingdom of heaven.

The kingdom, what the enemy is telling Jesus here.

You don't have to go through the sacrificial idea of your God.

You don't have to go to the cross.

I can give you all of these things.

But look what Jesus is something else.

Verse 10, the second part says, Get the hands, Satan, for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall you serve.

It is written.

So let's make the connection here.

Jesus, when he said it is written, he's quoting Jeremiah 31.

The new covenant that I will make with these people in which I will write.

And in their hearts.

But I will write it in their hearts.

And if you look in the Bible, there are always three aspects, beautiful aspects.

God is not a lone God.

It's a God trinal.

God Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is saying here.

You're quoting Scripture.

You're quoting me Scripture.

You have no clue.

Who you're coding.

Because Jesus understood who he was.

And he understood his position.

So when he said it is written, the word is in me, my guy.

The word is here.

There's a triangle in here.

When you sit down and you read your word, this word comes here, gives you a new idea, the Lord does, the Holy Spirit.

And then it's cemented in your heart.

So when the devil comes to you, and he tries to tempt you, he can't.

Because it is written.

But it's imperative that we write this commandment of the Lord in the tablets of our hearts.

You can have 375 Bibles in your home.

Matter of fact, you can have all of the versions available to the planet for you.

The simple idea of the Word of God is that you would meditate and you would make it transform you.

So when you eat it, the Holy Spirit brings it into He cemented in your heart.

But there is something really important here.

We can quote it is written a thousand times.

So we apply the Word of God according to the need.

And because we are full of the Spirit meaning that we are full of the Word.

According to Jesus.

Just to close this.

And we discover this reading our word.
