Psalm division number eight. And I do

appreciate you being in the house of the

Lord. Are you glad you're saved this

morning?

>> Amen. Verse number one, the Bible said,

David said, "Oh Lord, our Lord, how

excellent is thy name in all the earth.

Who has set thy glory above the heavens?

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings

hast thou ordained strength because of

thine enemies, that thou mightest steal

the enemy and the avenger. When I

consider thy heavens, the work of thy

fingers, the moon and the stars, which

thou hast ordained, what is man that

thou art mindful of him, and the son of

man that thou visitest him? Thou has

made him a little lower than the angels,

and has crowned him with glory and

honor. Thou madeest him to have dominion

over the works of thy hands. Thou hast

put all things under his feet, all sheep

and oxmen, yay, and the beast of the

field, the fowl of the air, and the fish

of the sea, and whatsoever passeth

through the paths of the seas. In verse

9, the psalmist exclaims, "Oh Lord, our

Lord, how excellent is thy name in all

the earth." Father, thank you so much

for the privilege to be in the house of

God today. And Lord, in my heart this

morning, I have a desire to express,

Lord, what the psalmist expressed when

he recorded these words. But Lord, I

feel, God, as though my fleshly body

will not allow me, God, to express the

splendor and the glory, God, of the

words that have been pinned, Lord, in

this text. But God, I ask you, Lord, for

just a little while, God, that you would

hide me behind the cross. And I pray,

God, that you'd clothe me in my call and

give me uncction and liberty this

morning to preach in demonstration of

the spirit with power. And God, I pray

more than anything, God, that we would

not see me. Lord, that we would not see

anybody or anything else. But God, I

pray, Lord, that we would see you this

morning. And God, I pray, Lord, for that

lost sinner that they'd see themselves

today. And God, as they behold

themselves in their sinstricken state,

Father, I pray that they would look up

and see the Savior that died for them so

that they could be saved and be saved

today. God, I ask you, Lord, please

grant it in this service. Get all glory

to yourself for what you do. will thank

you, but we'll praise you most of all

for who you are. We ask it in Jesus'

name. Amen. You can be seated. Thank you

so much for standing this morning. Psalm

division number eight. Here is a psalm

of David. I love the little headings

here in this uh the book of Psalms.

Particularly these headings sometimes

will shed light upon the psalm. Many of

them uh in the book of Psalms are

labeled in many different ways. There

are some written by Asaf. Psalms

specifically we think of most of the

time we think of Psalm 78. That song of

Asaf that was written to the children of

Israel who had fallen into sin. And I

look at this text this morning. Of

course, most of the psalms were written

by David. Some by Moses, some by Asaf,

and some maybe have even been written by

Solomon. But David, the writer of our

psalm this morning, it is mentioned in

verse number one or just before that

that it is said to the chief musician

upon Gideith, a psalm of David. Now,

there's a lot of conjecture this morning

about what this psalm is actually

referring to. Um, some say that this

mentions Goliath the Gitite here in the

text that gith is referring to him. Some

say that that gith refers to an

instrument that was played and that this

psalm would be read or sung while that

gith instrument was played. But I do

believe this morning that when we look

at the text, we'll discover the heart of

the psalm that's behind this verse. And

I think many times it is expressed to

us, we desire to see the situation for

which the psalm was written in. But I

want to say this. This psalm this

morning expresses to us truths about God

that do not matter to what situation

they are applied. They are just true

about his character and his nature. And

I think some of us sometimes if we would

look be look above and look beyond the

situation in our life, we would see an

everpresent and ever ready and an ever

able to help God far beyond our

situation. Amen. And I don't know about

you, but that helps me to know this

morning that God has got it all under

control. And I want to lay just a few

things on your heart. By way of

introduction, I'm preaching on this

thought this morning. The God that

excels. The God that excels. Notice what

your Bible said in verse number one of

Psalm number eight. David says, "Oh

Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy

name in all the earth." And in in

refrain the end of the chapter in verse

number nine he repeats himself and one

writer said this in verse number one the

psalmist is presenting to us the the

facts of God's excellence in the text

and that he is going to be presenting it

for proof to be applied to it. And then

in verse number nine he is not

presenting it but he is proclaiming it

in light of the proof that has been

given. And this chapter is a proof text

to describe the excellence of our God.

And I notice here in the text, you see

number one in verse number one, the

eternal God. And you say, "What do you

mean?" Well, you notice that little

statement there in verse one, "Oh Lord,

our Lord." And you notice there that

first Lord is capitalized. All four

letters. You see that capital L, capital

O, capital R, capital D. And you know

this morning, if you've been around here

for any amount of time, that name is the

word Jehovah. Amen. The self-existent or

the eternal one. And he is referring to

the God of heaven. Amen. And I want to

say this. If something is to be eternal,

Jesus, the eternal God, Jesus represents

God manifest in the flesh. And this

eternal Lord that is mentioned in the

text, David is crying out to him here in

the text of his eternality. And I want

to say this, when you address God, you

are to reress him in such a way that

honors who he is. Amen. And that ought

to be the first response in our prayers.

Not to make a request, but it is to

honor and to revere the name of God.

Amen. And so the psalmist says, "Oh Lord

our Lord." Then he not only speaks of

the eternality of God, but he also

speaks of the excellence of God in verse

number one. He said, "Oh Lord, our Lord,

how excellent is thy name." And of

course he is referring to that name,

speaking of the character or the

reputation of God here in the text. And

what is he saying about that? Well, he's

saying he's excellent. Amen. And you

say, "What does that mean?" Well, to

simply put it this way this morning,

that word excellent has the root word to

excel in it. Amen. And that word to

excel means to go beyond or to be above

or to be better than. Amen. And so when

he says, "Oh Lord, how excellent is thy

name," he is simply saying that his name

is beyond, that his name is above and

that his name's better than any other

name. Amen. I'm reminded of what Peter

told that Sanhedrin council in the book

of Acts 4 and verse number 12. He said,

"For there's none other name under

heaven given among men whereby you must

be saved." Amen. And I want to say this

this morning. There's no name like the

name of our God. Amen. He is exalted. He

is lifted high. And his name is

EXCELLENT. AND IT EXCELS FAR BEYOND ANY

OTHER. AMEN. Aren't you thankful for the

excellence of our God? I notice not only

the eternality of God and the excellence

here in the text of God, but I notice

the entirety in this verse. And you say,

"What do you mean?" Well, the psalmist

says, "How excellent is thy name."

Notice this. In all the earth,

>> you say, "Preacher, what do you mean?"

Well, I think this statement here in the

text is revealing something that

creation declares the glory of God.

Amen. I'm reminded of what the psalmist

said in Psalm number 19. He said, "The

heavens declare the glory of God, and

the firmament showeth his hund

handiwork. Day and day utterth

knowledge, night and night showeth

speak." What I'm saying is the earth

declares the glory of God. The mountains

and the trees and the rocks and the

bees, amen, and the seas and the oceans,

the fish, and all the animals, ALL OF

NATURE CRIES OUT THAT HIS NAME is

excellent, far above all else. And you

say, "What is that?" Well, I'd say it's

not only a an illustration in the text,

but it's also prophetic cuz you

understand there's coming a day when

everything that is, everything that has

been, and everything that will be will

all bow at the feet of Jesus. And every

knee will bow, and every tongue will

confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the

glory of God the Father. And

prophetically speaking, he said, "How

excellent is thy name in all the earth."

I'm saying there's coming today. It may

not be today. AND ALL THE WHOLE EARTH

does not bow to his glory. Matter of

fact, majority of the earth bows to a

man named Allah. But I want to say this

to you this morning. Allah is dead.

Amen. And beyond WHAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY

SAY, BUDDHA'S DEAD. AMEN. All them other

gods are dead. But I want to say this.

He's alive and well this morning. And

the psalmist says, "How excellent is thy

name in all the earth." Amen. And it is

the entirety of all the earth. And I

want to say this. I'm looking forward to

that day when everything that is will

cry out to him and worship and honor

him. But I notice not only in the text

the entirety of his praise, but I also

see the extent of his glory. In verse

number one, look what he says. He says,

"Oh Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy

name in all the earth who had set thy

glory," notice this, "bove

the heavens." You know what he's saying?

He says Jehovah, that self-existent one,

that one that was never created. Oh, but

he's the creator. Amen.

>> He was never created. He never came into

existence, nor will he ever cease to be.

Amen. But I want to say this. He set his

glory. You know what that is? He set his

position, his dwelling place. You

understand? He established his throne

and the highest place. Amen. You say,

"Preacher, where is that?" Well, that's

in the heavens. Amen. Jesus, God the

Father, established his dwelling place,

his position far above all else. And

there's been many a man tried to lift

themselves up there. Them men over there

in the book of Genesis when they tried

to build the tower of Babel, they

decided that they would build a tower

that reached under heaven. What were

they doing? Trying to reach to where God

is. But aren't you thankful God? They

never reach where he is on their own.

Amen. But he reached down where they was

and destroyed their work. And let me say

this, every leader that's risen and

fallen since the beginning of time has

tried to exalt theirel above God. But

let me say this, the best they've got is

control of most of the earth. But I want

to say this, he controls all the earth,

but he also controls all the heavens.

Amen. And I want to say this this

morning, our God excels. Amen.

>> He excels. He excels in every way. He

excels in power. You say, "What do you

mean? Nobody's got the power he has.

Nobody can do what he does. Nobody's

done what he did. Amen. I'm saying he

excels in power. I'm saying this

morning, write these down, he excels not

only in power, but he excels in purity.

Amen. I'm saying when you look at Jesus,

and let's just be real this morning,

there's an angel. There's angels in

heaven right now that their entire job

is to fly about the throne and to behold

God. They're seated on his throne. And

day and night they cease not to cry,

"Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty,

which was and is and is to come." I'm

saying when they behold him, they see

nothing but perfection. They see no

mistakes. They see no blemishes. And

when we think about God, he excels in

his power. But let me say this, he

excels in his purity. There's nobody

like him. Amen.

>> I want to say this. He excels in his

presence. That's right.

>> There's nobody and nor will there ever

be anybody or anything that's

everywhere. But God's everywhere.

>> You said, "What do you mean? I thought

the devil's everywhere." No, he's not

omnipresent. He's just got his minions

scattered about the earth. Amen. But I

want to tell you this. There's not a

place

said it this way. He said, "If I send up

on the wings of the morning," he said,

"if I make my bed in hell." He said,

"Behold, thou art there."

>> I want to tell you this morning, sinner,

there's not a place you can go where

God's not there. Right.

>> He excels this morning. Many other

things I could say about it, but I want

to give you what the psalmist says about

him this morning. Our God that excels. I

see four things in this text that the

psalmist illustrates in this text

revealing to us the excellence of our

God. And I find it interesting what he

begins with in this chapter. I want you

to notice first of all, our God excels.

It is described number one by the mouth

of children. Look what the Bible said in

verse number two. He says, "Out of the

mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou

ordained strength because of thine

enemies that thou mightest steal the

enemy and the avenger." You say, "What

do you mean, preacher?" Well, the

psalmist begins, he tells us there in

the text that, "Oh Lord, how Lord, how

excellent is thy name in all the earth,

who has set thy glory above the

heavens." Look what he says. Out of the

mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou

ordained strength. I'm talking about a

holy one. I'm talking about a high one.

I'm talking about one who has more power

than all. But look where he begins to

declare his glory. He declares it in the

children.

>> You see the mouth of the children

express his glory. You say, "How is

that?" Well, it's their praise. Look

what the Bible says. Out of the mouth of

babes and sucklings hast thou ordained

what? Strength. You know what that word

strength literally trans translates to?

It translates to praise or to adoration.

And I'm reminded of the Bible. Matthew

chapter number 21, Jesus quotes these

verses. Remember what Jesus said. He

said in one place on the children's

sake, he said, "Suffer the little

children to come unto me." He said, "For

such as be that they are the kingdom of

God." And this is what he said. He said,

"Except you receive the kingdom of God

as a little child." He says, "Ye shall

no wise enter therein." And we know that

that faith that is applied in our life,

we come to him just as humble as a

little child. Amen. And we receive it

simply. Amen. And when I think about the

praise of these children, turn with me

to Matthew chapter number 21. I want you

to listen to what Jesus says. And this

is a direct quotation of this text.

Matter of fact, you'll find this chapter

is quoted some uh over 10 times in the

New Testament. I want you to listen to

what Jesus says. The Pharisees were

rebuking him. The scribes were confu uh

con condemning him. And the Bible said

in verse number 12, Jesus went to the

temple, cast out all them that sold and

bought. He turned over the tables of the

money chambers. Verse 13, he says, "My

house shall be called a house of

prayer." Verse 14, the blind and lame

came to him in the temple and he healed

them. I want to say this, the Pharisees

didn't like him healing. But I want to

tell you this, they really didn't like

what happens in verse 15. Listen to what

the Bible said. And when the chief

priests and scribes saw that the

wonderful things that he did and the

children crying in the temple and saying

hosana to the son of David, they were

sore displeased. Listen to verse 16. And

they said unto him, "Hearest thou what

these say?" And Jesus saith unto them,

"Yay, have you never read, out of the

mouth of babes and sucklings." Notice

this. Thou hast perfected what?

>> Praise. Look at that. Verse 17. And he

left them and went out of the city into

Bethany, and he lodged there. I'm saying

Jesus described to them the fullness of

praise. I want to say this. There'll

never be any more true praise than the

praise that comes off of the lips of a

child who realizes that they've been

saved by the grace of God. You say,

"What do you mean?" Well, I'm saying

they don't have all the things of life

to hinder them. All they know is that

they were a sinner and that now they've

been saved by the grace of God. I

remember those days when I was seven or

eight years old, right after I got

saved. I remember how I used to hear

those hymns sung and the tears begin to

well up in my eyes and I just began TO

PRAISE HIM. WHY WAS THAT? BECAUSE THERE

WAS NOTHING SEPARATING me from him.

>> But you know what happens as life comes

along? What happens? We tend to get a

lot of baggage, don't we? And our voices

get softer until eventually we become

silent. But Jesus says, the psalmist

says in this text, he says, "In the

mouth of babes, he has perfected

praise." Notice that he has given his

praise to the children. You know what

we'll be doing throughout all eternity

as children? and we'll be worshiping

him.

>> Amen.

>> We'll do nothing else. You say, "What is

that?" Well, we won't have to work.

There won't be the responsibility of

adulthood, but it'll forever be one big

worship service.

>> So much I could say, but I need to move.

Notice not only the praise out of the

mouth of children. But notice the

prevention from the mouth of children.

In verse two, out of the mouth of babes

and sucklings hast thou ordained

strength. Notice the next word. Because

because of what? Thine enemies. that

thou mightest steal the enemy and the

avenger. You know what the Bible's

telling us right here? The psalmist says

it is the praise of the children that

prevents the conflict from the enemy. It

is them lifting up their voice in

exaltation unto God. Just like those

young children in the temple when they

were saying hosana in the highest of

Jesus, you know what it was doing? It

was convicting them Pharisees. Amen.

They should have been worshiping him,

but instead they were trying to condemn

him. But you know what the Bible tells

us? that the enemy is condemned by the

praise of children. You say, "Preacher,

I need an example of that." Let me say

it this way. The Bible says that they

overcame him. The blood in in

Revelation, all right? That they

overcame him, that's the Antichrist, by

the blood of the lamb and by the word of

their testimony. And they love not their

lives even unto the death. You know what

that was representing? Was representing

the testimony of the children of God.

You say, "What is it, preacher?" Well,

let's just give you another verse right

here. You see, the whole entire creation

is waiting for the moment when the

children of God, the glory that's in

them will be revealed. And it is their

praise that will be revealed. Notice

Romans chapter number eight and verse

number 19 or verse number 18. Paul said

this. Let's look verse 17. I love this

text. And if children, then heirs, heirs

of God and joint hes with Christ. If so

be that we suffer with him that we may

be also glorified together. For I reckon

that the sufferings of this present time

are do not to be compare worthy to be

compared with a glory which shall be

revealed in us. Verse 19, for the

earnest expectation of the creature

waitth for the manifestation of what? Of

the sons of God. You see, there's coming

a day when the children are going to

exalt him. Amen. God's children are

going to glorify him. And you know

what's going to happen in that moment

when the sons of God are glorifying the

lamb of God. In that very same time, the

lion of Judah is going to take out the

enemies. And it'll be the praise that

comp compels Christ to destroy the

enemies. AND ONE OF THESE DAYS, our

glory IS GOING TO BRING ABOUT OUR GOOD.

AMEN. I'm saying deliverance will come.

God said it this way. David said it in

Psalm number eight. You've perfected

praise. YOU HAVE ORDAINED strength

because of the enemies. You want to know

how to defeat the enemy in your life?

Just praise him.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. You want to know how to defeat the

the the battle of the mind in your life.

The enemy TRYING TO DESTROY YOUR MIND

AND your family, I'll tell you how to do

it. You just glorify him.

>> Oh, lift up your hands in the sanctuary

and bless the Lord. Oh, you people of

the Lord. Oh, give thanks UNTO THE LORD

FOR HE IS GOOD. For his mercy endureth

forever. I'M SAYING WE'RE being grateful

unto him and sing unto him AND BLESS HIS

NAME BECAUSE HE'S WORTHY. THAT'S WHAT

DEFEATS THE ENEMY. AMEN. And this is our

God that excelle. It's seen in the mouth

of children.

Well, I'm thankful to be a child of God.

Amen.

>> Notice not only it's seen in the mouth

of children. I want to see this. Second

of all, it's seen in the making of

creation. In the text, verse three, the

psalmist says, "When I consider thy

heavens, the work of thy fingers, the

moon and the stars, which thou hast

ordained," look what he says in verse

number six. Thou madeest him to have

dominion over the works of all thy

hands. Thou has put all things under his

feet, all sheep and oxen. Yay, and the

beast of the field, the foul of the air,

and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever

passeth through the paths of the sea.

This, you see, the making of creation,

it established that our God excels. You

see, there's never been another God

that's made anything. There's never been

a man. There's never been an invention

that's made or produced anything. But

you see, everything that is, God's the

maker of it. Amen. We might have refined

something that he built in the

beginning. But I want to say this. It

was made out of a substance that he

produced. Amen. You say, "What are you

saying, preacher?" I'm saying he is the

one that is the creator alone. Nobody

else has ever made anything. Man might

invent something out of God's creation,

but God won't man the way that God made

it. The Bible says that in Genesis

chapter number one and verse number one,

in the beginning, God made the heavens

and the earth. Amen. He stepped out on

nothing. the old preacher said and

formed everything. Amen. By the word of

his mouth, he had changed the IMAGE OF

WHAT EMPTINESS WAS. HALLELUJAH. In verse

number three, notice what he says. You

see, the mouth of his children speaks of

his excellence, but the making of

creation speaks of his excellence.

Number one, in that it's simple. You

say, "What do you mean?" Notice verse

three. When I consider thy heavens, are

you listening? When I consider thy

heavens, what's that next phrase? the

work of thy fingers. Now, I don't know

about y'all, but we live in a day and

time where everything's touch

technology.

It's just finger tip movement to get

things done. Amen. It's just finger

touch. It's it's it's quick as one

button and instant pot. Amen. We got the

Instant Pot. We got the microwave.

Somebody say, "Thank God for that."

Amen. Some of y'all would starve to

death. Amen. Cuz your wife can't cook.

Amen. Amen. Got to get y'all's attention

somehow or another. Amen. And some of

you still didn't hear that. So, Amen.

But anyway, what I'm saying is is we

live in the day of finger touch

technology. When Steve Jobs revealed the

iPhone, it was the most groundbreaking

thing that's ever been made in history.

And you know what? It was all formed off

of

fingertip connection. Look what the

Bible says. Verse number three. when I

consider thy heavens the work of thy

fingers. You see, God didn't even have

to stretch his arm to make the heavens.

You say, "What is that?" I'm saying

that's the simple power

>> of our creator.

>> Amen.

>> He didn't even have to move his arm. The

heavens were made.

>> Amen.

>> I'm saying God, you think about the

power. I said he excels in power. the

creation, the fact that something so

complex, the universe is the most

complex thing known to man in this day

and time. And the Bible says that he

made the heavens with his fingers.

The Bible says that he measured out the

waters of the earth and the hollow of

his hand and he made them out with a

span. And I'm saying his creation, the

making of creation, sowed the simplicity

to God. It was nothing. Oh friend, do

you think about the fact that the maker

of all, Amen. He just made it all in

just one moment by the word of his

mouth. Amen.

>> Amen.

>> What a savior. The making of creation,

the simplicity that's seen when I

consider thy heaven, the work of thy

fingers. But then there's the

establishment in verse three. The moon

and the stars which thou hast ordained.

You know what that means? It means

they're established.

You know what he did? He put them in

place. And you know what? Nobody's ever

going to move them.

You've heard me say this before at the

church. Colossians 1 tells us that

Christ, for him, through him are all

things. By him all things consist. Word

consist means held together. They came

to be, but now they're held together.

The reason those stars and the moon and

the sun and all of that's just hanging

in the sky is because God put it there.

But he didn't just put it there. He's

holding it there. He set a place for

them. And I want to tell you, regardless

of what the evolutionist and the ones

who believe in global warming say, I'm

going to tell you this. Those those seas

are never going to go farther than God's

lying in the sand.

>> You say, "Preacher, we we see that it's

rising." Well, I'm just going to tell

you, for the last 7,000 years, you

understand the earth ain't never flooded

since Noah's day.

>> And God said it wouldn't never flood

again. And you know what? There's enough

water on this world. The Bible says in

the tallest mountain, it was enough for

the water to exceed over 20 feet over

the tallest mountain. Now, I want to

just say this to you. Now, I'm not

trying to get into all this, but this is

what I'm trying to tell you. There's

enough water on this earth to flood the

earth so deeply that nobody could ever

survive. In the clouds and under the

ground, what I'm saying is God's got a

span, but they only come so far. That's

right.

>> People are worried, you know, them

flidians are worried to death that their

their state's going to flood. I hope it

don't flood. all the common sense people

will leave our country.

I got to get y'all to wake up somehow or

another. But what I'm saying is it'll

never go farther than God lets it go.

You say, "How do you see that?" Well, it

says, "Thou hast ordained them." It

doesn't mean that God just made them,

but he has a place for them. You know

what that tells me about you? God didn't

just make you, but he has a place for

you.

>> Amen.

>> He has a purpose for you. Listen to what

your Bible says. All right? And this is

where I'm getting to. All right? and I'm

trying to get done. I know there's

things going on this morning. Stay with

me. All right. There's there his he he

he excels in the mouth of his children.

He excels in the making of creation, but

he excels this morning. The psalmist

says, in his mindful consideration of

man. Look what the Bible says in the

text. When I consider thy heavens, the

work of thy fingers, the moon and the

stars which thou ordained, notice that

colon. Verse four. What is man?

Who are we that thou art mindful of us

and the son of man that thou visitest

him? David said he excels in the mouth

of the children. He excels in the making

of creation. But he excels in the FACT

THAT EVEN THOUGH HE DOES ALL OF THAT, he

still got time to think of us. You see

that word mindful there in verse number

four. It says, "What is man that thou

art mindful?" You know what that word

mindful means? It means to care.

David said, "Who am I that you would

care about me?"

What is he comparing that to? The

vastness of the universe. Look at it

again. Verse three. When I consider thy

heavens, the work of thy fingers, the

moon and the stars with thou ordained,

Lord, it was so easy to you to do all

that. Why would you even care about me

when I fail and fumble and flop around?

I'm saying friend, he is expressing to

the world. David in the text is telling

us here he says why would God care about

us? But I'm thankful in spite of the

fact that we don't understand why he

would care. Aren't you thankful he did?

>> Amen.

>> Because notice what happens in verse

four. What is man that thou art mindful

of him? Listen to this. And the son of

man that thou visitest him. You see, not

only did he care, but he cared enough to

come. That's right.

>> Say, what do you mean? What says that

thou visitest him? You know what that

word visit means? It means to show up.

>> Means to be near. It means there's a

closeness. You think about this. You

say, "Preacher, what does that express?"

Well, I'm going to give you my last

point. We'll be done here in just a

minute.

But expresses to us that in order for a

holy God to get close to a sinful man,

there had to be a whole lot done. And

this is what I think about this verse

when I when I think about what David is

saying. What is man that thou art

mindful of him and the son of man that

thou visitest him? This text always

comes to my mind. Put it in your margin.

Jeremiah chapter number 29. I want you

to listen to what he says. Jeremiah 29,

one of my favorite verses in all of

scripture. Jeremiah 29 and verse number

11. God tells the nation of Israel after

they sinned against him, they've

listened to the prophets that prophesied

against him falsely. He says in verse

number 11, he says,"For I know the

thoughts that I think toward you, sayeth

the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of

evil, to give you an expected end." You

say, "Preacher, what does that mean?"

Well, he said, "I've got a future for

you in mind." You know what? It marvels

me to think that God has a plan for my

life. But you know what? He doesn't only

have a plan for my life here, but he has

a plan for my future.

>> And the thing is, the God that made all

of this, why would he even care about

our existence?

I marvel at the fact that God would take

time not just to care but you understand

in order for him to come to us there was

somebody that had to come before him and

his name was Jesus. Amen. And when Jesus

came before HIM HE CAME BEFORE HIM. And

Paul said this to the Corinthian church

to wit that God was in Christ. Second

Corinthians 5 to wit that God was in

Christ reconciling the world unto

himself. You see, God could never get

close to G close to us until Jesus came

until redemption was bought and

purchased. And I'll say this and I'm

done this morning. I'm saying it was the

mouth of his children that expresses his

excellence. It is the making of creation

that des declares his excellence. It is

HIS MINDFUL CONSIDERATION. WHAT is man

that thou art mindful of him? But I want

to say this more than anything else. The

thing that declares his excellence is

the man that is expressed in this

chapter. You say, "What do you mean?"

Well, this chapter reveals to us a

manifestation of the very Christ

himself. You say, "What do you mean?"

Well, notice verse four. What is man

that thou art mindful of him, and the

son of man that thou vist him? For thou

has made him a little lower than the

angels, and has crowned him with glory

and honor. Notice verse six. Thou

madeest him to have dominion over the

works of thy hands. Notice this now.

Thou has put all things under his feet.

Now, scholars have argued over this text

to whether or not it applies directly to

Christ or whether it applies to just

mere mankind. I think you can see both

images in this text. But I want to say

this, the writer of Hebrews said this

was Jesus. And I want you to listen to

what he says. Hebrews chapter number

two.

You see, the excellence of our God is

described the greatest way by the

manifestation of Christ. Hebrews chapter

Hebrews 1 · chapter mention

1 says that he is the express image.

Verse three, who being the brightness of

his glory and the express image of his

person and upholding all things by the

word of his power when he had by himself

purged our sin, sat down on the right

hand of the majesty on high. Listen to

what he says in chapter number two. He

quotes Psalm number eight verse number

six. He said, "But one in a certain

place testified, saying, what is man

that thou art mindful of him? or the son

of man that thou vistest him. Thou

madeest him a little lower than the

angels. Thou crownest him with glory and

honor and did set him over the works of

thy hands. Thou put all things in

subjection under his feet. For in that

he put all in subjection under him. He

left nothing that is not put under him.

But now we see not yet all things put

under him. Listen to verse nine. But we

see Jesus who was made a little lower

than the angels for the suffering of

death, crowned with glory and honor that

he by the grace of God should taste

death for every man. For it became him

for whom all all things and by whom are

all things in bringing many sons unto

glory to make the captain of their

salvation perfect through suffering. If

you can't shout on anything, you ought

to shout on those verses. Amen. I'm

saying the thing that makes God excel

more than anything else, the reason his

name is great in all the earth, the

reason one of these days every knee is

going TO BOW AND EVERY TONGUE'S going to

confess is because on a hill far away

some 2,000 years ago, JESUS CAME AND

DIED ON A CROSS FOR MY SIN AND FOR YOUR

SIN. AND IT IS THE MANIFESTATION OF

CHRIST TO THIS WORLD THAT LETS US KNOW,

FRIEND, THAT HE EXCELS FAR ABOVE, FAR

BEYOND ALL THAT'S EVER BEEN OR EVER WILL

BE AFTER HIM. HALLELUJAH. BLESS HIS

NAME. THANK GOD. THE GRACE OF GOD CAN

STILL SAVE ANY SINNER AND EVERY SINNER

THAT'LL CALL ON HIM BY FAITH. You say,

"Preacher, what are you saying?" I'm

saying the manifestation of Christ in

chapter number eight reveals to us that

redemption come to where we are. He said

in verse four, HE SAID, "WHAT IS man

that thou art mindful of him? And the

son of man that thou vistest him." Do

you realize in Bethlehem there was a

little baby boy born TO A LITTLE VIRGIN

GIRL NAMED MARY AND THAT WAS GOD

EMMANUEL. GOD WITH US. AMEN. HE CAME AND

VISITED US. AND THANK GOD SINCE THAT

BABY CAME AND SINCE THE SAVIOR DIED,

REDEMPTION HAS COME TO WHERE YOU AND I

ARE. AND NOT ONLY REDEMPTION AND

INCARNATION IN THE TEXT. THANK GOD THERE

IS COMING A day and right now he is

exalted. AMEN. AND VERSE FIVE, FOR THOU

HAS MADE HIM a little lower than the

angels. Notice this. And has crowned

him.

He's crowned.

You know, I hear people talk all the

time, "Man, I'm looking forward to

getting my crown."

>> I'll tell you something. You ain't going

to have it long enough. You're just

going to have it long enough just to

throw it back at his feet. And I want to

say this, our crowns at his feet don't

mean nothing.

>> I'll tell you what crown means

something. It's the crown that God the

Father put on him.

>> Amen.

>> Amen. He's the chief of our salvation.

I'M SAYING HE'S OUR GREAT PRIEST AND GOD

HAS HIGHLY EXALTED HIM. Do you realize

THAT WE'VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING to exalt

him? We've never done ONE THING TO

CHANGE his position. We can praise him

for who he is, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE HIM

ANY HIGHER. ARE YOU GETTING WHAT I'M

SAYING? WE CAN LIFT HIM UP, but he's the

highest. Amen. We can give HIM GLORY,

BUT HE HAS ALL GLORY. AMEN. WE PRAISE

HIM NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT HE CAN BE, BUT

JUST BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS. He needs

nothing from us. Amen.

>> I'm saying he excels because there's

nobody that even comes close.

>> He's exalted.

I want to say this. all that is,

all that was, and all that shall be. In

verse number six, the Bible says, "Thou

madest him to have dominion over the

works of thy hands. Thou hast put all

things

under his feet."

This text declares to us not only the

glorification of Christ,

but that all the world

is subject to him.

You see, it doesn't matter what I say

about you. It doesn't matter what you

think about you. But I'll tell you what

matters. It matters what he says

>> about you.

You say, "Preacher, what does that come

down to?" Well, everything's under his

feet and all's in subjection to him. But

you know, the Bible says this, Romans 5,

"Therefore, being justified by faith, we

have peace with God." And you know what

that tells us? That word justified means

to be lifted.

John said it this way. 1 John 3, he

said, "Beloved, if it does not appear

what we shall be," he said, "But we know

that when he shall appear,

>> we shall be like him."

>> Amen.

>> You see, we belong under his feet

>> in judgment.

>> We deserve to be trampled on and cast

into hell.

But because of redemption,

because I've been redeemed, but I've

been justified by faith. Therefore,

being justified by faith, we have peace

with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

And so, what are we now? Romans 8 says,

we are heirs and joint hes with Jesus.

Adrian Rogers said it this way. Nobody's

ever said it better. The son of God

became a son of men that we, the sons of

men, might become sons of God.

And that is the reason why he's the God

that excelth. As we all stand, every

heads bowed and every eyes closed.

Know it's been a difficult service this

morning. Maybe you're here this morning.

You're a sinner. You're lost without

God. I don't want to take this time for

granted. I want to ask you, if you died

right now, do you know that you'd go to

heaven?

If you took your last breath in the next

15 seconds, where would you be? Say,

"Preacher, I don't know. Well, if I if I

was you, I'd get that settled.

If I was you, I'd get that taken care

of."

Cuz you really don't know how much time

you got.

You really don't.

And the truth is, this God that excelth

has took time to come by where you're at

today because he's mindful of you.

He knows where you're at. He knows what

you're going through. And he doesn't

want you to die without him.

If you're lost, would you come? Maybe

maybe you saved day. Maybe you're

discouraged. Let me just tell you, he

excels.

People let you down. People mess

everything up. You ever noticed that

people just mess everything up. But you

know what you going to find out?

He does all things well.

All things

perfectly well.

And it encouraged me to know that my

life's in the hands of such a God.

Father,

I thank you for this day. Thank you for

this time. Thank you for this truth.

These altars are open if some need to

come. Lord, I pray God that you would

help us today.

Cleanse us of sin.

Lord, when we look at you,

God, we see that you do excel in every

way, just as the psalmist said. But

Lord, when we look at you, we see in

ourselves

so many shortcomings and failures,

God, so much that's missing the mark.

Lord, I ask you humbly today, God, that

you would help us to

look in that mirror.

And God, as you point out the flaws,

God, I pray you'd help us to lay them at

your feet that we may be more like thee.

God, I pray for the needs that are here

today. you know every heart and life.

God, I pray you'd have your way.

Lord, I'm asking you that you would help

your servant this morning.

God, I pray for those that should have

been here today.

Lord, I pray God for whatever need

they've got. Lord, I pray God you deal

with their heart.

God, I pray for those Lord that wish

they could have been here today. God,

that you would comfort them and help

them.

Lord, I thank you for our faithful

people, Lord, that love you, that are at

home, that would love to be here. God, I

pray you'd add a special blessing to

them today. God, I pray you'd help them

to remember, Lord, that you are a God

that excels.

You're excellent above all else, and we

praise you for that today.

And God, I ask you, Lord, in this

invitation, Lord, I don't know what

needs a present,

but God, I know that there's hearts that

need help this morning. I pray they

wouldn't leave this place today without

getting it.

And Lord, I ask you God today, Father,

that you'd have your way in every heart

and life. For what you do, we'll thank

you for it because we ask it in Jesus'

name.

moment of time.
