  36. I'm walking in freedom for God so love

  37. God so loved the world

  38. lay them down at the foot of the cross.

  39. Jesus is waiting.

  40. Pretty sure we got more band members

  41. than Arcade Fire, man. It's

  42. unbelievable. Wow.

  43. How about we thank God for the worship

  44. we got to experience this morning. Yeah.

  45. All right. So, we're in a series called

  46. Practicing the Way. And uh last week we

  47. talked about formation. Uh we talked

  48. about it really over the last two weeks,

  49. and I really wanted to set a good

  50. foundation for uh the practices of

  51. Jesus. Instead of just jumping into

  52. these practices, I wanted to kind of lay

  53. a runway uh for us to look at before we

  54. got there because it's important to

  55. realize that uh we are report repeatedly

  56. being formed into something. It's the

  57. habits in our lives are forming us,

  58. relationships are forming us, stories

  59. are forming us, our phones are forming

  60. us. We are people who are constantly

  61. being formed. And the question is not

  62. whether we're being formed. The question

  63. is what are we being formed into? The

  64. real question is uh are we being

  65. conformed into the image of the culture

  66. and the world around us or are we being

  67. transformed into the image of Jesus? And

  68. that's where these practices come into

  69. play. These are the things that we can

  70. do as apprentices of Jesus to uh create

  71. space in our ordinary lives for Jesus to

  72. come and form us into his image. And so

  73. the first practice that we're going to

  74. talk about is the practice of Sabbath.

  75. And I can hear some of you uh getting

  76. suspicious already. Um you're like,

  77. "Here it comes. Like he's going to tell

  78. us to come to church every Sunday." Um

  79. well, yeah, I am. But uh there's more to

  80. it than that. We'll discuss. Or there's

  81. the people out there that are like,

  82. "Pastor, I understand the importance of

  83. rest and so I'll put rest on my schedule

  84. just as soon as I get everything else

  85. done." wh- which means rest will be

  86. sometime in 2047, you know. Um, so I get

  87. it. I get it. The the minute you finish

  88. one thing, there's three other things

  89. that you realize that you need to do.

  90. Uh, you sit down to relax and suddenly

  91. you notice that light bulb that's been

  92. out for two weeks that you need to

  93. change or that your kids run and say,

  94. "Mom, I can't find my shoes." You know,

  95. that kind of stuff. Like, it just seems

  96. like we'll never be able to find rest.

  97. And the reality is if we wait until

  98. everything is done to rest, then we'll

  99. never rest. And so here's my question.

  100. When did being tired become a normal way

  101. of life?

  102. It seems like it's changed. I don't

  103. know. It just feels like when you ask

  104. somebody how they are and if they're

  105. being very truthful in that moment,

  106. they'll say, "Well, I'm busy." And then

  107. they a lot of times they'll start to

  108. list off how busy they are. Almost like

  109. it's their resume. that they'll be like,

  110. "Well, I've hosted three Zoom meetings

  111. this morning and I ate lunch over the

  112. sink in the office and you know, and I'm

  113. also good at Microsoft Office and Adobe

  114. and it's that's it's not just a report,

  115. by the way, that's a confession, okay?

  116. You you feel like you're just reporting,

  117. but no, that that's your confession that

  118. you don't understand Sabbath." And the

  119. strange thing is when you finally get an

  120. opening in your schedule, you sometimes

  121. don't even know what to do with it. Like

  122. I had one this week, my wife and my

  123. daughter were out at like doing

  124. something and so I had a Tuesday night

  125. to myself and so I sat down with Netflix

  126. and I was like I'll just watch a show.

  127. And so I scrolled through like shows for

  128. 30 minutes and I read the synopsis and I

  129. watched some trailers and then I wound

  130. up in my garage sorting all my eBay

  131. items for my eBay store. It it's just

  132. what we naturally do. We are remarkably

  133. good at putting pressure on ourselves.

  134. So, so friends, you can't always blame

  135. somebody else for all the pressure in

  136. your life. Your your busy schedule is

  137. not always someone else's doing. A lot

  138. of times your busy schedule is because

  139. you have decided that you need to do

  140. those things that you need to carry

  141. those responsibilities. Now, I do want

  142. to be care careful here because I know

  143. some of you are exhausted for all the

  144. right reasons. You're a parent. You're

  145. raising little ones. You're you're

  146. working two jobs. You're wondering how

  147. your bills are going to get paid. And so

  148. I understand that. So I'm not here today

  149. to tell you go buy a hammock and get

  150. some rest. Okay? I'm here to tell you

  151. that Jesus sees the weary people. Jesus

  152. sees the weary people. And get this, he

  153. does not hit you with a lecture on time

  154. management. Jesus comes into your life

  155. and gives you an invitation. He gives

  156. you an invitation. He invites the weary

  157. to come to him. So in Matthew 11 28,

  158. Jesus says these powerful words. Matthew

    Matthew 11:28

  159. 11 verse 28. He says, "Come to me all

  160. you who are weary and burdened and I

  161. will give you what?

  162. I will give you rest." This is not some

  163. vague inspirational quote that you put

  164. on a Hobby Lobby mug, okay? This is

  165. Jesus speaking to people who know what

  166. it's like to carry the weight of the

  167. world on their shoulders. And he says,

  168. "Come to me,

  169. not try harder, not come back when you

  170. have cleared your notifications."

  171. He says, "Come to me." me. And then in

  172. verse 29,

  173. he says, "Take up my yoke and learn from

  174. me because I am lowly and humble in

  175. heart and you will find rest for your

  176. souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden

  177. is light." So in other words,

  178. th this rest is not a weekend escape

  179. from real life. It's it's a different

  180. way of living your real life while also

  181. being attached to Jesus so that he can

  182. carry the load with you. This is what we

  183. mean by practicing the way. We are not

  184. collecting a bunch of religious theories

  185. and theologies. We are learning to live

  186. as apprentices of Jesus. And Jesus says,

  187. "Come to me when you're weary and you

  188. will find rest." Why? Because rest is

  189. important. Last week we said that our

  190. lives are being formed whether we like

  191. it or not. So if you're always rushing

  192. around, if you're always available, if

  193. you're always consuming, if you never

  194. stop, then that rhythm of life is

  195. forming you too. And so what you're

  196. going to wind up with is you may believe

  197. in love, but you may find yourself too

  198. hurried to notice the person that needs

  199. your love. You might believe in

  200. patience, but you're going to be um

  201. you're going to treat every interruption

  202. like it's a personal attack. You might

  203. believe God is in control, but you might

  204. act also like the the universe depends

  205. on you answering one more email this

  206. weekend. A and what is really sad is our

  207. families often

  208. like face the brunt of this. They they

  209. get the version of us that is left over.

  210. Like we give our clearest attention to

  211. the people and the problems that we have

  212. at work and then when we get home, the

  213. people that we love the most get the

  214. shortest answers from us. They get those

  215. distracted nods and you're just like,

  216. "Okay, we'll get back to this later."

  217. It's not because we don't love them.

  218. It's probably because the pace of our

  219. life is discipling us more than Jesus

  220. is. And so, you can know the scripture

  221. verse. It says, "Be still and know that

  222. I am God." But you can also be unable to

  223. sit still for more than 30 minutes

  224. without checking your cell phone. Look,

  225. I know this because I am that. Like if

  226. my phone vibrates during quiet time, I'm

  227. I'm like, "Oh, I wonder is that the

  228. Lord?

  229. Does he want to talk to me about my

  230. car's extended warranty? I don't know.

  231. Maybe maybe I should check." Look, Jesus

  232. offers you an invitation to find rest

  233. for your souls. And it begins with this

  234. word called stop. This word called stop.

  235. The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew

  236. word Shabbat, which means to stop.

  237. So literally stop what you're doing. And

  238. that might sound embarrassingly simple,

  239. but I promise you there are people in

  240. this room where the theology of stopping

  241. is the most difficult practice in the

  242. world for them.

  243. See, this this world sells us this world

  244. sells us a a picture of rest. It's it's

  245. like have the perfect porch and have the

  246. perfect vacation and have the perfect

  247. comfy chair at your house. But you

  248. cannot purchase Sabbath. The only way to

  249. get Sabbath is to stop what you're

  250. doing. And so in his book, Practicing

  251. the Way, John Mark Comr lists out four

  252. things, four Sabbath rhythms that we

  253. need to be aware of. They don't really

  254. go in order. They can be mixed and

  255. matched any way you like. But the four

  256. things are stop, rest, delight, and

  257. worship. Stop, rest, delight, and

  258. worship. Look at Genesis chapter 2 verse

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  259. one.

  260. says, "So the heavens and the earth and

  261. everything in them were completed."

  262. On the seventh day, God had completed

  263. his work, all that he had done, and he

  264. rested, same word, Shabbach. On the

  265. seventh day, from all of his work that

  266. he has done, God blessed the seventh day

  267. and declared it holy, which means

  268. separate.

  269. For on it he rested from all his work in

  270. creation.

  271. Friends, God was not worn out from his

  272. work creating this earth and the

  273. universe around us. He He didn't look at

  274. the stars and say, "That was a lot of

  275. work. Now I need a vacation." He stopped

  276. his work of creation so that he could

  277. look back on his work of creation and

  278. declare that his work of creation was

  279. good. He he placed the rhythm of work

  280. and stop right into the beginning, right

  281. into the story of creation. Look,

  282. there's something delightful about

  283. making something, about serving someone,

  284. about solving a problem, about earning a

  285. living or raising a family. But good

  286. work can become a cruel master when it's

  287. never allowed to stop.

  288. Think about the last time that you

  289. finished something and you actually took

  290. time to delight in the work that you

  291. finished. Many of us move on from one

  292. obligation to the other so the other so

  293. fast that we never take time to delight

  294. in the good work that God allowed us to

  295. accomplish. Sabbath breaks that cycle.

  296. It's why it's so important. Sabbath is

  297. not just an interruption of work. It

  298. helps us see that work is a gift with

  299. guard rails with with some boundaries.

  300. Six days of work, one day of rest, one

  301. day of stopping, stop, rest, delight,

  302. and worship.

  303. And as Exodus 28 says, remember,

  304. remember command from God. Exodus 28

  305. says, "Remember the Sabbath day and keep

  306. it holy." Like, I can literally remember

  307. the password for a subscription service

  308. that I canled like five years ago, but I

  309. can forget that I'm a man, not a

  310. machine, and I actually need to take

  311. some time to rest. And so, God knew that

  312. about us. And so, he placed a

  313. commandment in scripture that says,

  314. "Take time to rest. Take time to

  315. Sabbath. And remembering is so much more

  316. than just thinking like, oh yeah,

  317. Sabbath is a thing. No, it's it means

  318. set that day apart. That's why he says

  319. keep it holy. The word holy means

  320. separate. What God is saying here is

  321. that this day is different. This is a

  322. day where I literally stop what I do on

  323. all the other days so that I can rest

  324. and delight and worship.

  325. I think it's interesting that the first

  326. people to receive this command from God

  327. were the people of Israel right as they

  328. came out of Egyptian slavery. So for

  329. generations, their value had been based

  330. on their ability to produce bricks and

  331. quotas.

  332. And now God speaks to them as free

  333. people and he tells them to stop working

  334. one day a week. Imagine how strange that

  335. would sound for people whose value had

  336. been determined by their ability to to

  337. output a certain amount of product. But

  338. what God is saying here is look, you

  339. used to belong to Pharaoh, but now you

  340. belong to me. Now you're my children.

  341. And your value is no longer based on

  342. your ability to get the job done. Your

  343. value is based on the fact that you are

  344. my children. And so now you can feel

  345. free one day a week to just stop and

  346. rest and delight in the work that you

  347. have done and worship me. And he doesn't

  348. just give this gift to Israel. Later on

  349. in scripture, he he tells us this gift

  350. is for everyone. When Jesus came on the

  351. scene and spoke for God, he said look

  352. this gift is for everyone. This is for

  353. the owner of the house. This is for the

  354. servants in the house. This is for the

  355. people that live in the house. He even

  356. says, "This gift of Sabbath is for the

  357. animals of the house." See, Sabbath

  358. isn't just me demanding a day where I

  359. don't have to do my laundry or or where

  360. everybody else has to do the cooking and

  361. the cleaning and the child care and the

  362. errands. No, the gift of Sabbath is for

  363. everyone.

  364. But in Jesus day, there were some

  365. people, some religious leaders that had

  366. turned this gift into a heavy rule book.

  367. And then in our day, we managed to do

  368. kind of the opposite. We act as though

  369. stopping is optional until our bodies

  370. physically make us stop or our schedules

  371. force the issue. Jesus refuses both of

  372. those ideologies.

  373. Jesus says Sabbath is not a contest to

  374. see who can follow the most rules and it

  375. is a gift for human beings who also need

  376. limits otherwise they will work

  377. themselves to death.

  378. But why is it so hard for us in this

  379. culture to receive Sabbath as a gift?

  380. Well, I wrote down a few reasons. I

  381. think number one that Sabbath reveals

  382. the truth. Sabbath exposes what we trust

  383. the most. See, as long as I'm doing

  384. something, I can feel as though I'm the

  385. one that's holding everything together.

  386. But when I stop, I have to remember that

  387. I'm not the one that's carrying the

  388. weight of the world. And for some of us,

  389. this is a very humbling thought because

  390. there's some people that would love to

  391. think that the world is dependent upon

  392. their ability to answer these emails.

  393. the the world is is only spinning

  394. because the fact that they are here and

  395. they are working. And so Sabbath forces

  396. them to see that God has been running

  397. this world just fine since before they

  398. learned to use the calendar app on their

  399. phone. Like if if I cannot stop because

  400. the world depends on me, then I have

  401. mistakenly

  402. taken a job description that belongs to

  403. God.

  404. And so also for some of us, work is more

  405. than just a job.

  406. Work is the place that we go. It's the

  407. thing that we do where we go to hear

  408. that we matter.

  409. It so stop reaching for the next task.

  410. See this is a problem for people that

  411. work at churches too because work can be

  412. good work. It can be holy work but

  413. church can also be a hiding place too

  414. for people that love to work. And so

  415. people like me, we have to make sure

  416. that that we we begin quietly um to to

  417. to fight that that voice that's in our

  418. head that tells us that God likes us

  419. best when we're useful.

  420. I also think that stopping can feel

  421. frightening for some people because when

  422. that noise quiets down, other things

  423. become really audible.

  424. that that sadness that we've been out

  425. running, the the loneliness that that

  426. we've been avoiding, the worry that says

  427. if I'm not producing, then God's not

  428. going to going to love me. This is why

  429. Sabbath is not just a freedom from a

  430. busy schedule. This is about receiving a

  431. truer identity. Because friends, hear me

  432. in this. Before you achieved anything

  433. this week, you were perfectly loved by

  434. God.

  435. And when you stopped achieving for a

  436. little while, when you took that day and

  437. you rested, guess what? You are still

  438. loved perfectly by God.

  439. God doesn't look at his children and

  440. say, "I would love to be with you, but

  441. first let me see your productivity

  442. report."

  443. It's not how God asks.

  444. God says, "Come to me all of you who are

  445. weary and heavy laden, and I will give

  446. you rest." I feel like there's somebody

  447. here that needed to hear that today. You

  448. needed to hear the fact that you are not

  449. lazy just because you feel tired. You

  450. You need to hear the fact that you are

  451. not a failure just because you have

  452. limits. What you need to hear is that

  453. God knows you because he created you and

  454. he knows that you need rest.

  455. And honestly, the the main reason I feel

  456. like a lot of us just don't rest is

  457. because we're pros at not resting. Like

  458. we have perfected the art of not being

  459. able to rest. We have these little

  460. moments of empty space. You're at the

  461. traffic light and it's red. You're at

  462. the line in the store. You got a

  463. commercial break on the show that you're

  464. watching. What do you do? like six

  465. seconds go by and you're already opening

  466. up some type of an app on your phone,

  467. aren't you? And I'm not saying that all

  468. phones are evil. I would never say that.

  469. But I am saying that our attention has

  470. become so trained to avoid the quiet

  471. that we actually seek out the noise.

  472. And when we get in a place that's quiet

  473. and we don't seek out the noise, for a

  474. lot of us, it can literally feel like

  475. withdrawal.

  476. Go through the same symptoms. So here's

  477. our application for today for this

  478. practice. Stop, rest, delight, worship.

  479. So let's make this practical without

  480. turning it into another thing that you

  481. have to put on your schedule. Okay?

  482. We're going to try to avoid that. And

  483. we're going to listen to the words of

  484. John Mark Comr who says that we need to

  485. start where we are, not where we think

  486. we should be. Okay? So we're going to

  487. start right where you're at. You don't

  488. have to change a thing. Just start with

  489. who you are today. And the first thing I

  490. want us to try to fight for is to keep a

  491. Sabbath day holy, to fight for worship.

  492. In Hebrews 10:2, it tells us that we

    Hebrews 10:2

  493. should not forsake the gathering

  494. together. It's been that way since Jesus

  495. created the church. They started with

  496. 120 people. Then they grew to 3,000

  497. people. Then they grew to 10,000 people.

  498. And all 10,000 people would meet in

  499. Solomon's colonade in the temple in the

  500. book of Acts. and they would worship

  501. together. And then some started drifting

  502. and doing other things on that day of

  503. worship. And so God put in scripture

  504. through the writer of Hebrews to a

  505. reminder to keep this day holy, to keep

  506. that commandment, to set it apart, to

  507. fight for worship. And he also tells us

  508. to stop. So we have this this time where

  509. we get together as a faith family, we

  510. worship, but there also has to be a day

  511. in your schedule when you stop. For some

  512. of you, that's going to be Sunday

  513. afternoon. for people that work at a

  514. church, that's probably not going to be

  515. possible. So, there has to be another

  516. day where we uh where we stop. For

  517. people that have obligations and jobs

  518. and you're taking care of people on

  519. Sunday, that's just not an option for

  520. you. Then you have to find a time in

  521. your schedule every week where you can

  522. stop.

  523. And when you stop, you should put away

  524. the notifications. You should put away

  525. all the distractions. And you should

  526. rest. It's not enough to just stop. We

  527. also need to find something to do that

  528. is restful. For some of us, it's sharing

  529. a meal. It's taking a hike. It's

  530. enjoying time with the people we love.

  531. But also in those moments, do not forget

  532. the word delight.

  533. Delight. Delight in the work that God

  534. has allowed you to accomplish the week

  535. before. Look back that week and thank

  536. God for it. I mean, God himself took a

  537. break. It looked back on his work and

  538. said it was good. And so there is no

  539. problem whatsoever with you looking back

  540. to the work that you've accomplished

  541. during the week and saying, "Wow, that

  542. was actually good. We should celebrate

  543. what we've done before we move on to the

  544. next task."

  545. And and I get it. This is going to feel

  546. awkward at first, but remember this is

  547. not a final exam. This is an

  548. apprenticeship. We are learning as we

  549. go. No, nobody looks at a kid learning

  550. to ride a bike for the first time and

  551. when they fall over, nobody's like, "Oh

  552. man, that family's not committed to

  553. cycling, you know." No, we laugh and we

  554. we help the child up and we get back on

  555. the bike and we straighten the

  556. handlebars and we go on our way until we

  557. learn how to do it. We laugh and we try

  558. again and we laugh and we try again. And

  559. that's how the practices of Jesus will

  560. work in your life. I promise they will

  561. work if you just give them time. So

  562. friends, if your first Sabbath includes

  563. three moments of peacefulness and 12

  564. moments of wanting to pick up your phone

  565. and check your notifications, that is

  566. perfectly fine. Don't give up because

  567. your desire to grab the phone is not

  568. proof that you can't do this. What it is

  569. proof of is that you need to do this.

  570. So what are we going to stop?

  571. What are we going to stop doing? How are

  572. we going to find rest? What is that that

  573. one thing, this one moment in your

  574. schedule this coming week where you can

  575. actually stop and rest and delight and

  576. worship? Maybe it's just for a few

  577. hours. Maybe it's a vow to stop checking

  578. email over the weekend while I don't

  579. have a computer at my house. Maybe it's

  580. the fact that we need to remember that

  581. we're not earning God's favor by trying

  582. to keep a better schedule. Maybe he's

  583. just taking a moment to reflect on that

  584. that you are loved beyond what you were

  585. able to do this week. But what we have

  586. to do is make room to receive this

  587. beautiful gift from God who loves us.

  588. Because I promise you this, the work

  589. will still be there tomorrow. But in the

  590. meantime, the world is going to keep on

  591. turning. And God has not asked you to be

  592. him. He has invited you to be with him.

  593. Come to me all who are weary and heavy

  594. laden and I will give you rest. Let's

  595. pray.

  596. Father, I can just look around this room

  597. and and see how tired some of my

  598. brothers and sisters are.

  599. And Father, I know that you know the

  600. work that we can't finish. You know the

  601. people that we love. you know, the

  602. burdens that that we carry. You know,

  603. every situation that everybody finds

  604. themselves in.

  605. And so, Lord, help us to not fall into

  606. that trap of the enemy where we feel as

  607. though everything in the world depends

  608. on us. Lord, teach us to stop without

  609. fear. Teach us to receive your rest

  610. without any guilt. Lord, help us to

  611. delight in the work that you've allowed

  612. us to accomplish and to trust you with

  613. all the things that remain unfinished.

  614. Father, form us into people who are are

  615. authentic in our worship

  616. and protect our Sabbath.

  617. Father, as we apprentice under Jesus and

  618. we learn his practices,

  619. we know there are going to be moments

  620. where

  621. it feels awkward, it feels difficult,

  622. feels like we just can't or shouldn't do

  623. these things. And so in those moments,

  624. meet us and remind us that all that is

  625. is proof that the enemy wants us to fail

  626. in those areas. Help us to use that as

  627. motivation to push through the

  628. awkwardness and the weirdness of

  629. rearranging our schedule. help us to

  630. push through the the awkward

  631. conversations where we have to tell

  632. people, "Well, no, I can't do that uh on

  633. Sunday because that's the day I'm

  634. gathering with my faith family to

  635. worship God for a couple of hours."

  636. Lord, I I know these are difficult

  637. things, but we also know, Lord, that the

  638. the blessing we receive

  639. from following in the footsteps of Jesus

  640. outweighs anything we could ever receive

  641. from this world.

  642. As Paul said, the the joys of what lays

  643. before overwhelm the burdens of the day.

  644. Lord, help us to believe that, know

  645. that, and be true to that. Lord, help us

  646. to to be apprentices of Jesus that go

  647. out into this world and and attract

  648. others to Jesus. Lord, with the way that

  649. we live, the difference they see in our

  650. lives. Lord, I pray that you would just

  651. pour out your blessings on this

  652. community and use us, Lord, to be your

  653. ambassadors out in the streets to tell

  654. people about the good news of Jesus, to

  655. invite them into a loving relationship

  656. with him. Lord, help us to be bold in

  657. our witness and bold in our faith. And

  658. we know the only way we're going to be

  659. able to be super effective in that is to

  660. be like you. Help us to be able to speak

  661. truth and do so with love. And again,

  662. Lord, for those who are facing difficult

  663. situations coming up in the near future,

  664. Lord, I just pray that you would put

  665. your hand of blessing upon them. And I'm

  666. just reminded of the the words in

  667. scripture where the man comes to you

  668. with a broken heart and he says

  669. he says, "Jesus, I believe. Help my

  670. unbelief."

  671. Lord, I pray that for those going into

  672. these difficult seasons that they will

  673. understand that it's okay to feel a

  674. little anxious. It's okay to feel

  675. worried, but it's Lord, the end of the

  676. day, we have to mirror the the words of

  677. Jesus who was also

  678. anxious over what laid before him at the

  679. cross when he said, "Not my will, but

  680. yours be done." So Lord, I pray that you

  681. would help them to balance their

  682. theology with their their human heart

  683. and be able to know that you are in

  684. control even when they don't feel like

  685. you are.

  686. Lord, in that that moment, that

  687. tugofwar, I pray that you would just get

  688. a hold of their hearts and help them to

  689. be able to rest assured in you. And I

  690. pray for their friends and family as

  691. well that they would have that same

  692. assurance. So Lord, as we end this,

  693. excuse me, as we end the service today,

  694. I just pray that you would help us,

  695. Lord, to respond in any way the Holy

  696. Spirit has spoken to us. Lord, help us

  697. to be brave. if we need to come forward

  698. and pray, if we need to kneel at the

  699. altar, if we need to walk across the

  700. room and hug someone and pray with them,

  701. Lord, I pray that we would have the the

  702. courage to do what you want us to do as

  703. your family in these moments. Jesus name

  704. I pray. Amen.

  705. As we sing our final song, if you would

  706. like to respond in any way, I'll be up

  707. front. Uh if you'd like to join the

  708. church, if you'd like to give your life

  709. to Jesus, if you'd like to come pray for

  710. a loved one, the altar is always open.

  711. And also, if you just need to walk

  712. across the room and and hug somebody and

  713. and and pray for them, this is an

  714. awesome time to do that as well. So,

  715. let's stand together as we sing.

  716. suffering

  717. and shame

  718. where

  719. sinners

  720. So I'll cherish

  721. till my

  722. as I

  723. will

  724. to the old

  725. pro.

  726. I will ever

  727. be true

  728. and reproach

  729. my

  730. glory

  731. forever.

  732. I'll share

  733. all

  734. my

  735. last

  736. layers.

  737. Every

  738. cross

  739. by the world

  740. for

  741. of God

  742. through

  743. dark

  744. All

  745. crossing

  746. changes

  747. someday.

  748. All the

  749. cross

  750. I see

  751. Jesus. to suffer

  752. and die

  753. to

  754. him and

  755. by me

  756. at Last

  757. to the old

  758. cross

  759. Till my

  760. last

  761. lay

  762. to the old.

  763. >> Amen. If you could be seated for just a

  764. moment. Except for you two. You don't

  765. get to seat. You got to come up here.

  766. This is uh Mike and G. And I know you've

  767. seen them around the church for a while

  768. now and they've been a real blessing to

  769. me and I know several of you have gotten

  770. to know them pretty well and they've

  771. been a blessing to you as well. And uh

  772. they told me last week that they would

  773. like to uh join the church. So I went to

  774. their house and uh we sat down and I

  775. heard their testimonies which are

  776. incredible by the way. Um, and they told

  777. me all about their relationship with

  778. Jesus and how they have been, uh,

  779. baptized by full immersion and how they

  780. want to join our church and get involved

  781. here, uh, using their gifts and talents

  782. to help other people and also receiving

  783. the the warmth and the love from, uh,

  784. Sawers Creek. And so, based on their

  785. their baptisms and their testimony of

  786. faith, I'd like to uh, invite them to be

  787. a part of the church through a church

  788. vote. And so, if you are um, if you are

  789. okay with that, we'll say amen.

  790. They must have been a blessing to you,

  791. too, huh? Did she give you pretzels?

  792. >> Oh, she gave me pretzels. So, I even if

  793. they voted no against you, I would

  794. probably still Anyway, we'd find an

  795. executive order or something for you.

  796. But anyway, if you are opposed to that,

  797. um, same sign. All right, it's

  798. unanimous. So, I'm just going to ask you

  799. guys if you would to stand with me in

  800. the vestule after service so people can

  801. welcome you to the family.
