  1. And then the title of my sermon this morning

  2. is sacrifices in Leviticus, sacrifices in Leviticus.

  3. And now these first several chapters here

  4. leading up to about chapter 10 really deal

  5. with a lot of the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament.

  6. And of course Leviticus is named because

  7. of the fact that this is dealing with

  8. the Levitical priesthood for the most part.

  9. These are the instructions for the priesthood

  10. and what they're gonna be doing.

  11. And it's not arbitrary.

  12. Of course, when you read the Bible,

  13. especially maybe the first time

  14. or when you're young or when you're not even saved,

  15. you read the Old Testament law

  16. and it just seems confusing.

  17. There's a lot of animal sacrifices.

  18. They don't make very much sense.

  19. But when you become saved and you understand the gospel,

  20. you can actually see a different layer

  21. to a lot of the Levitical priesthood.

  22. And I wanna keep your finger here,

  23. but go to Psalm 119 in the middle of your Bible

  24. for a second.

  25. And I wanna show you just one verse

  26. that I wanted to pick out of Psalm 119,

  27. but the Bible tells us that it's a spiritual book.

  28. It's not just carnal instructions.

  29. It's not just history.

  30. There's a spiritual layer.

  31. And the Bible itself,

  32. everything is pointing to the gospel.

  33. Everything in creation is pointing to the gospel.

  34. Everything in the Bible, all the stories,

  35. all the examples are pointing to the gospel.

  36. And in fact, even the law

  37. is pointing to the gospel message.

  38. And in Psalm 119,

  39. I wanna look at verse 18.

  40. The Bible says,

  41. open thou mine eyes

  42. that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

  43. So this verse, I think what's interesting about it

  44. is it's kind of telling us that there's a second meaning

  45. or there's something that can be seen in the law

  46. that you wouldn't just get without God helping you.

  47. And it says open thou mine eyes.

  48. This is typically a reference to being saved.

  49. When you get saved,

  50. the Bible talks about your eyes being enlightened

  51. and you're getting a new understanding.

  52. Now you can see God.

  53. Of course, that's language that's used by Jesus Christ

  54. when talking with Nicodemus

  55. and talking about being able to see God.

  56. And of course, that's used

  57. in other parts of the gospel messages.

  58. And so when you become saved,

  59. you not only see the law for what it is,

  60. of course, it's perfect.

  61. It's what we should do as humans on this earth.

  62. We should abide by God's law,

  63. whether that be just his moral instruction,

  64. whether that be his civic duties,

  65. whether that be a criminal justice system,

  66. just national policy.

  67. Just all of those ideas are all great

  68. and there's nothing wrong with them.

  69. We can all understand them.

  70. In fact, an unsaved person can understand

  71. that just the carnal truths of the Bible,

  72. but beyond that, there's a spiritual layer

  73. and there's a spiritual layer

  74. to the sacrificial system in Leviticus.

  75. And when you read it,

  76. it's kind of just boring and dry, if you ask me.

  77. But when you kind of think about it

  78. from a gospel perspective,

  79. it becomes a little bit more engaging.

  80. And so that's what I want to do

  81. is I want to go back to Leviticus

  82. and we're hoping that God will help us

  83. open our eyes that we can behold wondrous things

  84. out of the law.

  85. And these wondrous things, I believe,

  86. are pertaining to Christ, the gospel

  87. and just the doctrine associated

  88. with the gospel specifically.

  89. Now here in Leviticus chapter one, verse one,

  90. he says,

  91. And the Lord called on the Moses and spake him

  92. out of the tabernacle of the congregation saying,

  93. Speak unto the children of Israel

  94. and say unto them, if any man of you

  95. bring an offering unto the Lord,

  96. ye shall bring your offering of the cattle,

  97. even of the herd and of the flock.

  98. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd,

  99. let him offer a male without blemish.

  100. He shall offer it of his own voluntary will

  101. at the door of the tabernacle

  102. of the congregation before the Lord.

  103. So you have, you know, in these chapters, divisions,

  104. you have in some senses a little bit

  105. of a different flavor of the different sacrifices.

  106. In chapter one, you kind of have a burnt offering.

  107. That's kind of the main focus of chapter number one

  108. is this burnt sacrifice.

  109. Now you also have in this particular section

  110. in verse three, notice it says

  111. that the person doing this offering

  112. is supposed to offer it of his own voluntary will.

  113. You know, God put the word voluntary there

  114. for the Calvinist to look that much more stupid, okay?

  115. Because it's just like, hey, you get to choose

  116. if you want to.

  117. Like how can you be a Calvinist

  118. and then understand this word voluntary will?

  119. That, you know, and that's what makes God special.

  120. What makes God special and unique from humans

  121. is how his will can be accomplished

  122. while still giving us an actual voluntary free will.

  123. The Bible tells us that we have a true, genuine free will

  124. and we can really do whatever we want.

  125. But while we have that autonomy,

  126. God can still accomplish his ultimate will

  127. and still accomplish the main objectives

  128. of the gospel message,

  129. even though we have our own faculties,

  130. we have our own abilities.

  131. You know, I typically relate that to sports or something.

  132. It's like, if you were just so good that it's like,

  133. I know that you have the ability to play against me

  134. but no matter how good you are,

  135. how much you try, you're gonna lose the game.

  136. Like I'm gonna beat you

  137. and not only am I gonna beat you,

  138. I know every move you're gonna make.

  139. Like when I go left, you're gonna go right

  140. and then I'm gonna score, I'm gonna dunk on you.

  141. And in fact, and sometimes people love to talk trash

  142. this way, they'll even say like,

  143. hey, I know you're gonna do this

  144. and I'm just gonna stop you

  145. or I'm gonna score on you this way

  146. or they just tell you the play beforehand

  147. or they tell you what's gonna happen beforehand

  148. and then they do it.

  149. That's much more impressive

  150. than if someone were to do that to a robot.

  151. If you just have a robot and say, hey, look,

  152. I'm gonna make this move

  153. and then the robot's gonna respond counter-wise.

  154. You think like, well, that's not as impressive

  155. as giving someone true free will

  156. and allowing them to make their own decisions

  157. and then still God's able to accomplish His will.

  158. But what is this really ultimately picture?

  159. Well, a couple of things that it pictures.

  160. Let's go to Matthew chapter number 12 for a moment.

  161. Go to Matthew chapter number 12.

  162. The Bible pretty much has almost every sacrifice

  163. as being a burnt sacrifice in some way.

  164. Now some are just entirely burnt.

  165. Like that's the only portion of the sacrifice.

  166. But I believe because the gospel is so complex

  167. and there's so much depth to it

  168. and because the gospel and what Christ did

  169. has so many layers

  170. that we have so many different sacrifices

  171. because we're picturing different layers of the gospel

  172. and different things that's being accomplished

  173. by Jesus Christ.

  174. It can't necessarily all be embodied by one example

  175. or just one metaphor or one symbol.

  176. And one of the aspects of the sacrifice of Christ

  177. which is not necessarily popular by many pastors

  178. but I think that just the general population

  179. has no problem with doctrine

  180. is the fact that Jesus Christ really went to hell.

  181. And it's kind of surprising to me now.

  182. I feel like our country has become so decristionized

  183. that many people don't even know the stories of the Bible.

  184. And one of the stories that I found

  185. was probably the most famous stories

  186. or a story that most people would always hear

  187. is Jonah and the whale.

  188. And yet I go knock on doors and I'm like,

  189. hey have you heard of Jonah and the whale?

  190. And they're just like, I have no idea

  191. what you're talking about.

  192. And it's kind of sad because it's a great story.

  193. It's very familiar.

  194. It's the one thing everybody remembers

  195. out of the minor prophets.

  196. You're like, I don't know anything in minor prophets

  197. but I remember Jonah and the whale.

  198. It's kind of a fun story.

  199. And yet Jesus references that about himself.

  200. Look what it says in verse 39.

  201. But he answered and said in them,

  202. an evil and adulterous generation

  203. seek it after a sign

  204. and there shall no sign be given to it

  205. but the sign of the prophet Jonas.

  206. For his Jonas was three days and three nights

  207. in the whale's belly.

  208. So shall the Son of man be three days and three nights

  209. in the heart of the earth.

  210. So according to the Bible,

  211. Jesus is comparing himself to Jonah

  212. and saying the picture of Jonah is really about me

  213. and how I'm gonna be in the heart of the earth

  214. three days and three nights.

  215. But most people if I ask them, hey,

  216. do you know where Jesus went after he died?

  217. They say heaven.

  218. A lot of people think that Jesus went immediately to heaven

  219. but the Bible teaches he first descended

  220. into the depths of the earth

  221. or as the Bible says right here

  222. into the heart of the earth

  223. that would be like the center of the earth.

  224. And so that's where we get a lot of doctrine.

  225. We understand hell itself is in the center of the earth

  226. and of course that's why so many of the sacrifices

  227. are talking about being a burnt offering

  228. and being roast with fire.

  229. It's because of this picture of Christ is gonna go

  230. and perform this sacrifice for us.

  231. Now let's get more details on this.

  232. Go to Jonah itself, go back a little bit

  233. and go to Jonah itself in the Old Testament.

  234. So we're beholding wonders, things out of the law

  235. and you know some people get upset about this doctrine

  236. but then you're like okay,

  237. well what does the burnt sacrifice mean?

  238. Because it's heavily emphasized.

  239. Burnt sacrifice or being roast with fire

  240. is not a minimum thing in the Bible.

  241. In fact it's reiterated over and over and over again

  242. and I would even argue that from an Old Testament picture

  243. and the foreshadowing of the Old Testament

  244. it's emphasized more than the cross itself would be.

  245. But that doesn't mean that the cross is less

  246. or not emphasized or not important

  247. and of course the New Testament seems to emphasize

  248. the cross more than Jesus going to hell

  249. but the Old Testament seems to picture the burnt sacrifice

  250. more than the pictures of the cross.

  251. And so we don't wanna sit here and just pick and choose

  252. and say well one matters and the other doesn't

  253. or this one's the only one that we should talk about.

  254. I think we should talk about both.

  255. And the Old Testament is still just as relevant

  256. to the gospel messages of the New Testament.

  257. The Bible says in Jonah chapter two it says

  258. is then Jonah prayed on the Lord his God

  259. out of the fish's belly and said I cried

  260. by reason of mind affliction unto the Lord

  261. and he heard me out of the belly of hell cried I

  262. and thou hurtest my voice.

  263. Notice when Jonah is describing what it was like

  264. to be in a whale's belly or the great fish's belly

  265. he describes it as the belly of hell.

  266. And again this is a metaphor for Jonah.

  267. Jonah wasn't literally in hell, we get that.

  268. Jonah is using this language to describe

  269. what it feels like, what he's experiencing.

  270. And in some ways if you think about it

  271. there's a lot of parallels because in the whale's belly

  272. there's no light, it's complete darkness.

  273. There's complete darkness, he's alone

  274. and the fish even is gonna be obviously

  275. submerged underneath the water.

  276. So it's kind of picturing being underneath,

  277. being in a prison, there's just complete darkness.

  278. So some aspects of this experience

  279. are gonna mimic those things in hell.

  280. I have no idea what it would have been like physically.

  281. It could have been warm.

  282. I mean in most cases the stomach is a warm place.

  283. You know it's considered a mammal, I don't know why

  284. but by scientific classification it's considered a mammal

  285. and so you know it could have been hot.

  286. It could have been very uncomfortable.

  287. There could have been, even potentially

  288. the acid in there could have been a burning sensation.

  289. I don't think he was dying necessarily

  290. but he's probably close to, probably felt like it.

  291. I can't even imagine, usually when you're in pain

  292. five minutes seems like five hours.

  293. I can't imagine three days.

  294. It might have felt like eternity.

  295. And in fact maybe from like other portions of scripture

  296. or maybe God gave him wisdom

  297. that he would know in three days he's gonna be getting out

  298. but when you don't know that you're getting out

  299. it's a really hopeless feeling.

  300. And you're kinda just wishing to die

  301. and by dying like in a sense of ceasing the pain.

  302. And that's again what's gonna be experienced in hell.

  303. People are gonna be in hell wishing to not exist anymore.

  304. Wishing for the pain to stop.

  305. Wondering when is it gonna be over?

  306. And the unfortunate part for them is it's never over.

  307. It's never gonna end.

  308. There's weeping and gnashing of teeth

  309. and of course it's even more excruciating

  310. because it's actual fire, it's actual burning.

  311. Yet in an incredible way while there's fire

  312. it's outer darkness in a sense.

  313. So I have no idea how any of that makes sense.

  314. It's a scary place.

  315. If you tried to dream up the worst punishment imaginable

  316. you will land at hell.

  317. In every category hell is the worst.

  318. Possible in every category in every way.

  319. And of course that's because God is gonna punish sin

  320. because he hates sin and his wrath

  321. is kindled against hell.

  322. And the Bible says just as Jonah was here

  323. in this metaphorical sense, Jesus really was there.

  324. So this is what's interesting about the book of Jonah

  325. is it's like Jonah's saying these things

  326. but then it's like literally true

  327. for the Lord Jesus Christ.

  328. He says in verse three,

  329. for thou hast cast me into the deep

  330. in the midst of the seas and the floods

  331. compass me about all thy bills

  332. and thy ways passed over me.

  333. Then I said I'm cast out of thy sight

  334. yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

  335. The waters compass me about even to the soul.

  336. The depth closes me round about

  337. the weeds are wrapped around about my head.

  338. So again, weeds being wrapped around his head.

  339. That's Jonah that we're talking about of course.

  340. But it says here

  341. and I went down to the bottoms of the mountains

  342. the earth of the bars is about me forever

  343. yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption

  344. oh Lord my God.

  345. Verse six doesn't really make as much sense for Jonah.

  346. It's more metaphorical but for Christ

  347. the earth really was about Christ

  348. in the sense that he's in the center of the earth.

  349. So it's kind of like metaphoric for Jonah

  350. it's literal for Jesus Christ

  351. because for Jonah it's metaphor

  352. that he's in the belly of hell.

  353. For Jesus he really is in the belly of hell

  354. and so if you kind of see chapter two

  355. it almost seems like it kind of goes back and forth.

  356. It's like two is about Christ

  357. and then three is about Jonah

  358. and then four is about Christ

  359. and then fives about Jonah

  360. and then six is about Christ.

  361. And so kind of as it's like alternating pattern

  362. and when it's about Christ

  363. it's a metaphor for Jonah

  364. but it's literal for the Lord Jesus Christ.

  365. Now let's go to Acts chapter two

  366. and let's confirm what we've just seen in the scripture

  367. but in the Old Testament law

  368. you would have a burnt sacrifice

  369. and you would burn this animal

  370. and what is that to foreshadow into picture

  371. is how Christ was gonna go to hell

  372. and he was gonna suffer for us.

  373. Acts chapter number two

  374. look what it says in verse number 27

  375. because let's do verse 26

  376. therefore did my heart rejoice

  377. and my tongue was glad

  378. moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope

  379. because that will not leave my soul in hell

  380. neither wilt thou suffer thine holy ones

  381. as the corruptions.

  382. Now for Christ he did know that it was temporary.

  383. He did know that he would eventually come out

  384. and he said that's the only hope he had

  385. because if you're in hell

  386. your only hope is you're getting out

  387. for those that are not getting out there is no hope.

  388. He says thou has made known to me the ways of life

  389. thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance

  390. men and brethren let me freely speak unto you

  391. of the patriarch David

  392. that he's both dead and buried in sepulchre

  393. as with us under this day

  394. therefore being a prophet

  395. and knowing that God had sworn

  396. with an oath to him

  397. that of the fruit of his loins

  398. according to the flesh he would raise up Christ

  399. to sit on his throne.

  400. He's saying this before spake of the resurrection of Christ

  401. that his soul is not left in hell

  402. neither is flesh to see corruption.

  403. So in the Psalms which we're not gonna go to

  404. we could prove this doctrine so many different times

  405. but if we go back to the Psalms

  406. David in the book of Psalms is being quoted

  407. as talking about his flesh resting in hope

  408. because his soul is not gonna be left in hell

  409. but it's like then the author needs to explain to us

  410. and Peter is kind of explaining

  411. but he's not talking about himself

  412. because number one, David's flesh is gone.

  413. David's flesh saw corruption.

  414. David's sepulchre we have a sepulchre

  415. we could go get his bones out right now.

  416. But they don't have the bones of Christ

  417. they don't have the flesh of Christ

  418. it's resurrected and it's in heaven right now.

  419. And he's saying he wasn't talking about himself

  420. he was talking about someone else

  421. of his physical decency

  422. someone that was a physical son of David

  423. that was going to be in hell

  424. and who were we talking about?

  425. He was speaking before of the resurrection of Christ

  426. that his soul was not gonna be left in hell

  427. and that his flesh was not gonna see corruption

  428. meaning that his body wasn't gonna rot

  429. and decompose and turn into bones

  430. and we would have his sepulchre

  431. we don't have his sepulchre

  432. you know of the people that have lived

  433. and died on this earth

  434. you know we have their dust at least

  435. you know whether they've been buried

  436. or cremated or whatever you wanna think of

  437. we have their dust

  438. and yet we don't have the body of Christ

  439. the most influential person of all history

  440. we have no burial site where his body is

  441. you know we have the tomb

  442. the stone was rolled away and the tomb was empty

  443. and so the Jews had to lie and say

  444. oh well the disciples secretly buried him

  445. and in order to deny Christ

  446. you have to believe the disciples secretly buried Jesus

  447. and then went out and lived lives of misery

  448. and woe and ultimate sacrifice

  449. and martyred him for no reason

  450. like if you're gonna make up a lie

  451. wouldn't you wanna make up a lie for money

  452. or make up a lie for fame

  453. or make up a like why do you have to lie

  454. to be martyred

  455. to be killed and persecuted and hated

  456. you know that's typically not

  457. you're not usually willing to die for a lie

  458. especially a lie that you made up about yourself

  459. you know be estranged from your own family

  460. and just being out in the world where everybody's hating you

  461. and being beaten and being put in prison

  462. and being killed and people just being mad at you

  463. just a lie about some guy's body that you buried somewhere

  464. you know that's what the secular is

  465. that's what the atheists have to believe

  466. and it makes no sense

  467. there's no motive

  468. no it's obvious that they died

  469. because they saw the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ

  470. that they were saved

  471. that they were filled with the spirit of God

  472. and they are willing to suffer the affliction

  473. and be a partaker of Christ's sufferings

  474. just like what Christ did

  475. and of course we don't have Christ's body

  476. because he suffered in hell

  477. now again some people would say well he went to hell

  478. but he didn't suffer

  479. you know that kind of creates a weird idea

  480. because then we have to create a compartment in hell

  481. that's not suffering

  482. whereas the simple understanding would just be it's suffering

  483. okay also Christ isn't saying here like in verse 26

  484. well my heart did rejoice

  485. because of the special compartment

  486. where there's no suffering

  487. now what did he say

  488. he said that the only thing that he had hope in

  489. is that he wasn't going to be left there

  490. so he didn't like it at very minimum

  491. but even then in this chapter

  492. you have even more clear verse

  493. it says in verse 23

  494. him being delivered by the determinate counsel

  495. and foreknowledge of God

  496. you have taken

  497. and by wicked hands of crucified and slain

  498. here's another verse that the Calvinist can't understand

  499. but notice it's like hey

  500. by the foreknowledge of God

  501. he knew that you guys were going to take Jesus

  502. and you were going to crucify him

  503. it's not that they didn't do that of their own will

  504. it's just God knew exactly what they were going to do

  505. before they even did it

  506. now it says in verse 24

  507. whom God hath raised up

  508. having loosed the pains of death

  509. because it was not possible that he should be holding of it

  510. now again think about this

  511. it's like

  512. hey in verse 24 God raised up

  513. when is the resurrection

  514. that's three days after the crucifixion

  515. and then it says

  516. having loosed the pains of death

  517. so being raised up

  518. loosed him from

  519. the pains of death

  520. now if we just slow down and think about this very carefully

  521. number one

  522. Christ is not dead

  523. when he was on the cross

  524. now he is suffering pain

  525. and you could argue he's dying

  526. but he's not dead

  527. he hasn't experienced death

  528. okay

  529. so to say that this is talking about the cross

  530. would number one

  531. be to misunderstand the fact that he's not dead on the cross

  532. and when you're dead

  533. we typically understand that physically you're not experiencing pain anymore

  534. from a physical perspective

  535. but what is the pains of death

  536. this is what the bible is describing as hell

  537. because of course the dead are in hell and they're experiencing pain

  538. and what loosed Christ from the pains of death

  539. or the pains of hell

  540. is being resurrected

  541. which then matches in perfectly with the whole context is in verse 26

  542. he's saying that's why you had some hope

  543. and that's why in verse 27

  544. because he wasn't going to be left in hell

  545. and of course this is all fits together perfectly

  546. that he was loosed from the pains of death

  547. and he suffered

  548. and that's why the bible emphasizes

  549. burnt offerings so much

  550. because some people would say oh well Christ went to hell

  551. wouldn't the bible tell us

  552. and it's like yes it tells us a lot

  553. it brings it and so every time you read about the burnt sacrifice

  554. you read about these burnt offerings

  555. you should be realizing what Christ did for us

  556. by taking our place in hell

  557. experiencing the pains of death

  558. the bible says by reason of affliction cry die

  559. out of the belly of hell cry die

  560. so it's just like he's saying it's affliction

  561. in the book of Jonah

  562. it's saying it's the pains of death in the book of Acts

  563. I mean nowhere else in the bible is hell a pleasant place

  564. nowhere is there any other escape

  565. the only relief that he's claiming to have

  566. is the hope of leaving

  567. okay so it seems like it's just really simple

  568. that Christ went to hell like the bible says

  569. he was in the heart of the earth

  570. it was pain it was affliction

  571. he cried God hurt him and he was resurrected

  572. and of course then that satisfies our punishment

  573. because we would have to go to hell

  574. if we got what we deserved

  575. and so instead an innocent perfect spotless lamb

  576. Jesus Christ went and took our place

  577. not only to die but to go to hell for us

  578. he became a curse on the cross

  579. and the curse of the law is what

  580. what is the curse of the law

  581. it's death okay

  582. and what's the worst part about death

  583. it's not that you cease from the pain of the cross

  584. it's that you then go to hell

  585. for the ways of sin is death

  586. it's you know what what's scary about death

  587. is not not being alive

  588. it's being in hell

  589. because for the Christian it's not as scary

  590. because we're going to go to heaven

  591. and in some cases people even long for death

  592. because they simply want to be in heaven

  593. where there's even more rest

  594. it's I mean what is heaven considered

  595. rest no pain joy

  596. I mean for for many elderly people

  597. and even not even just elderly people

  598. some people they're just suffering a lot on this earth

  599. like they're just in a lot of physical pain

  600. they're in just a lot of torment

  601. they're not having much rest

  602. and it's like they're not experiencing much joy

  603. I mean Lazarus with his sores

  604. he wasn't enjoying life

  605. he was excited to die and go to heaven

  606. okay

  607. so death itself

  608. what's scary about death

  609. what's the punishment of death is hell itself

  610. and so Christ not only experienced excruciating pain on the cross

  611. and in this life

  612. and the shame and the embarrassment and the woe

  613. but he also experienced the pains of death itself

  614. which is the scary

  615. arguably in my opinion one of the scariest things

  616. that you could possibly face

  617. and it really is

  618. and so we shouldn't undermine what Christ did

  619. we should just realize

  620. that Christ took our punishment in hell

  621. go back if you would

  622. so then what's important about this

  623. is that this burnt sacrifice

  624. it's offered it's offered of a voluntary will

  625. picturing what that your salvation

  626. is based on your voluntary will

  627. of putting your faith

  628. in the sacrifice of Christ

  629. that we put our faith in what Jesus did

  630. of our own voluntary will

  631. and that's what saves us

  632. it's not our works

  633. it's not you know the fruit of the ground of what we did

  634. it's simply offering someone in our place

  635. and that person in our place

  636. is an animal picture in the Old Testament of Christ

  637. and so all of the animal sacrifices make sense

  638. with the gospel and what Christ did

  639. you know from an Islamic perspective

  640. you know it's kind of crazy to me

  641. or like even Jews

  642. you know they have all these animal sacrifices

  643. that they would give lip service to

  644. and point to

  645. and of course even Muslims today

  646. have their halal meat

  647. and they sacrifice goats

  648. and lambs and animals and stuff

  649. it's like well what is that picture though

  650. what's the point of that

  651. like why is God having you constantly

  652. slaughtering animals

  653. and sacrifice them

  654. like why is he doing that

  655. and again from a Christian perspective

  656. it's because it pictures the Lamb of God

  657. and how Jesus took the sin of the world

  658. and how he died for our sin

  659. but the Muslims don't believe that

  660. and the Jews don't believe that

  661. and the Jews really don't even believe

  662. that's what their antichrist will even do

  663. they have a kind of a warped idea

  664. of their antichrist being a

  665. a political leader

  666. and conquering the world

  667. whereas Christ came to die for the world

  668. and be sacrificed for the world

  669. and yet they don't understand these pictures

  670. they don't understand these things

  671. why

  672. because they're not saved

  673. if they're not saved

  674. you're not going to understand

  675. the wondrous things out of the law

  676. you're not going to get them

  677. and so you're just going to perform sacrifice

  678. look the Jews

  679. are wanting to perform animal sacrifices again

  680. you know in Israel

  681. in modern Israel today

  682. they're trying to bring back the red heifer

  683. they're trying to bring back different animal sacrifices

  684. the Bible in the book of Daniel talks about in the end times

  685. there's going to be a daily sacrifice

  686. and that is going to be taken away

  687. with the antichrist

  688. because he's going to claim that

  689. he's the real Christ

  690. but even their little antichrist

  691. he's not dying for the sins of the world

  692. he's killed by some radical or something

  693. or something's happening that's different

  694. after he conquers the world

  695. not him coming in a lowly form

  696. as a humble servant loving people

  697. you know what does the antichrist go

  698. he goes out to conquer and to kill

  699. like the antichrist is just killing

  700. and slaughtering people in mass

  701. Jesus Christ is saving people

  702. and healing them from their sicknesses

  703. and their diseases

  704. and bringing like good things into the world

  705. he's killed for feeding people

  706. and raising people from the dead

  707. the antichrist is different

  708. because he's slaughtering everyone

  709. and conquering everyone

  710. and stabbing everyone in the back

  711. and betraying people

  712. and just like

  713. he's just the man of sin

  714. is what the Bible describes him as

  715. and so they're complete opposites

  716. completely different

  717. we have to understand

  718. that this levitical priesthood

  719. is foreshadowing Christ

  720. and again these sacrifices

  721. are daily sacrifices

  722. they're done like all the time

  723. every single day

  724. these burnt sacrifices

  725. now it says in verse 4

  726. and he shall put his hand up on the head

  727. of the burnt offering

  728. and it shall be accepted for him

  729. to make atonement for him

  730. so notice this gives you the atonement

  731. but the Bible tells in the book of Hebrews

  732. that the animal sacrifices

  733. could never take away sin

  734. that was never what really took away the sin

  735. it says in verse 5

  736. and he shall kill a bullet

  737. before the Lord and the priest

  738. Aaron's sons shall bring the blood

  739. and sprinkle the blood

  740. about upon the altar

  741. that is by the door

  742. of the tabernacle of the congregation

  743. so one aspect of the sacrifice

  744. is that blood is sprinkled

  745. and it'll also talk about how it's put on the horns

  746. of the altar

  747. and I'm not going to necessarily go to every verse

  748. for sake of time this morning

  749. but it's sprinkled

  750. and it's on the horns

  751. and this you know is going to foreshadow

  752. and picture how Jesus Christ

  753. you know leading up to his crucifixion

  754. he is being whipped

  755. he has a crown of thorns

  756. and so of course as he's going up to the cross

  757. his blood is being sprinkled

  758. his blood is literally

  759. it's not necessarily all gushing out

  760. but there's going to be sprinkles of his blood

  761. going on the ground

  762. going in different areas

  763. of course it's just kind of

  764. picturing the splattering of Christ's blood

  765. that's going through all these different elements

  766. and then later we're going to have

  767. another element of the blood

  768. but he's constantly

  769. you know having his blood sprinkled

  770. it says

  771. and the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar

  772. and lay the wood in order upon the fire

  773. so again it's

  774. this sacrifices a wood sacrifice

  775. and I think that's the picture again

  776. the cross he's put on wood

  777. and of course that is how he's killed

  778. so you have another layer there

  779. it says in the priest Aaron's son shall lay the parts of the head

  780. and the fat

  781. in order upon the wood that is on the fire

  782. which is upon the altar

  783. but his inwards in his legs shall he wash in water

  784. and the priest shall burn all on the altar

  785. to be a burnt sacrifice

  786. and offering made by fire

  787. of a sweet saver unto the Lord

  788. and so again

  789. you kind of have different parts of the animal

  790. it said in verse uh

  791. I can't remember which verse it was

  792. it said oh six they fillet

  793. or they fillet the burnt offering

  794. this this is to

  795. de-skin the animal

  796. so and again

  797. we're not going to read all of Leviticus

  798. but you could read it all if you want

  799. but basically they skin the entire animal

  800. and they take just kind of the

  801. outward parts like the head

  802. and these different parts

  803. and they put them up into one section

  804. then they get all the fat

  805. and they gather that into a section

  806. then they get all the meat portion

  807. and they do different things

  808. with these different parts of the animal

  809. in some cases you have a whole burnt offering

  810. so there's burning the entire animal

  811. in other cases they're

  812. they're going to burn certain parts of the animal

  813. in certain places

  814. okay so they're going to take the inwards

  815. and they're going to burn them on the altar

  816. that's right here inside the holy place

  817. whereas the skin and the dung

  818. and the head and all these outward parts

  819. they're going to take them outside of the camp

  820. and they're going to burn them outside of the camp

  821. okay so you kind of have like

  822. different things happening

  823. all with this particular animal

  824. and you know they're eating the meat

  825. you know this always bothered me

  826. because it's like you know

  827. you read about Native Americans

  828. and they eat like the whole animal

  829. and it's like but in the Old Testament

  830. like they're not eating all this weird stuff

  831. okay and you know people are always

  832. offering you these weird cuts of meat

  833. and you know God bless you

  834. you can do whatever you want

  835. but I'm just like you know in the Old Testament

  836. they're burning that stuff

  837. you know what I mean

  838. it's like hey here's the head

  839. and this body part and this

  840. and you're just like yeah

  841. I'll take the brisket

  842. you know like I'll take

  843. I'll take the steak portion of the animal

  844. you know they're they're cleaning it

  845. and again they're cleaning it up too

  846. you know they clean out the insides

  847. and of course cleaning out the insides

  848. they're washing it

  849. they're not eating the blood

  850. they're not eating the fat

  851. and so I think number one

  852. all of these things are just good things in general

  853. like they're just carnal truths

  854. they're the superior way

  855. to clean the animal

  856. to perform you know all these different things

  857. associated with cooking

  858. the animal

  859. and so we should take some lessons from this

  860. but again it pictures spiritual things as well

  861. it says in verse 13

  862. but he shall wash the inwards of the legs with water

  863. and the priest shall bring it all

  864. and burn it upon the altar

  865. it is a burnt sacrifice

  866. and offered me by fire

  867. of a sweet Savior unto the Lord

  868. and if the burnt sacrifice

  869. was offering to the Lord be a fowl

  870. then he shall bring his offering of turtle does

  871. or young pigeons

  872. and the priest shall bring it into the altar

  873. and ring off his head

  874. and burn it on the altar

  875. and the blood there

  876. shall be wrung out at the side of the altar

  877. so also with the animals

  878. they do the same thing

  879. they ring out all the blood

  880. they get all the excess blood

  881. at the end of the altar

  882. and they do this similarly

  883. in other sections of the Bible

  884. where it says that they would pour out all the blood

  885. at the bottom of the altar

  886. and if you would go to John chapter 19

    John 19 chapter mention

  887. we'll see

  888. so Christ's blood is sprinkled throughout the sacrifice

  889. of him walking to the cross

  890. and being beaten and whipped

  891. and having a crown of thorns upon his head

  892. and so I think the horn is the altar

  893. kind of picture of course

  894. you know like the cross itself

  895. you got two lifted up horns

  896. and you have the blood put on there

  897. and he's obviously put up on the cross

  898. and you have you know

  899. his hands being nailed to the cross

  900. can kind of picture

  901. the blood on the horns of the altar

  902. you have Aaron himself being anointed

  903. and they put blood on his ear

  904. and on his fingers and on his toes

  905. and it's like picturing

  906. you know again

  907. I believe Christ being on the cross

  908. and you got the crown of thorns

  909. and you've got it on his hands

  910. he's nailed to the cross

  911. but then you also have another element of the blood

  912. after he's dead

  913. being poured out at the altar

  914. in John 19 look at verse 34

  915. but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side

  916. and forth came there out blood and water

  917. and he saw that it bear record

  918. and his record is true

  919. and he knoweth that he say it's true

  920. that you might believe

  921. so according to the bible like

  922. these things are picturing this

  923. and here's one of the scriptures that's fulfilled

  924. it says for these things were done

  925. that the scripture should be filled

  926. a bone of him should not be broken

  927. and again another scripture say

  928. they shall look on him whom they pierced

  929. so these animals are being slaughtered

  930. and killed in all these different ways

  931. so that blood can be sprinkled

  932. and then all the rest of the blood

  933. can just be poured out of the bottom of the altar

  934. just like a picture of how Christ's blood

  935. is all poured out at the bottom of the cross

  936. so all these things while they seem arbitrary

  937. weird random they're picturing different elements

  938. of what's going to happen with Jesus Christ

  939. and of course these offerings being in different places

  940. are going to be also picturing that as well

  941. go if you went to chapter two of Leviticus

  942. you know obviously most of the time

  943. the bible is is making it clear too

  944. that they're supposed to be

  945. males without blemish

  946. sometimes they use females

  947. but it's always supposed to be

  948. an animal sacrifice without blemish

  949. without any problem

  950. and that's a picture of the sinlessness of Christ

  951. that he was in all points tempted

  952. like as we are yet without sin

  953. the bible says in chapter two

  954. this is a meat offering

  955. so this is a little bit different

  956. and again what's confusing to me

  957. is like almost all of these offerings

  958. are meat in our sense of like carnal flesh

  959. whereas typically when the bible is saying

  960. a meat offering here

  961. it's talking about bread

  962. it's talking about like the wheat

  963. so it seems backwards a little bit

  964. but that's just because meat in the bible

  965. a lot of times in the Old Testament

  966. it's just referring to just food in general

  967. and again the meat here is talking about

  968. flour and bread

  969. says in verse one

  970. and when any will offer a meat offering

  971. under the Lord

  972. his offering shall be a fine flour

  973. and he shall pour oil upon it

  974. and put frankincense there on

  975. and he shall bring it to Aaron's sons

  976. the priest

  977. and he shall take there of his handful

  978. of the flour thereof

  979. and of the oil thereof

  980. with all the frankincense thereof

  981. and the priest shall burn the memorial of it

  982. upon the altar

  983. to be an offering made by fire

  984. of a sweet savor under the Lord

  985. and the remnant of the meat offering

  986. shall be Aaron and his sons

  987. it is the thing most holy of the offerings

  988. of the Lord made by fire

  989. so they take flour, oil, frankincense

  990. and they burn this to God

  991. but then a portion of it

  992. is given to the priest

  993. and they consume it

  994. it says specifically in verse number five

  995. and if they'll bring an oblation of meat offering

  996. baking in the oven

  997. it shall be unleavened cakes

  998. of fine flour, mingle with oil

  999. or unleavened wafers anointed with oil

1000. so it has to be unleavened

1001. again this is picturing that Christ himself

  1002. is sinless again

1003. the leaven is a picture of sin

1004. that's mentioned in first Corinthians chapter number five

1005. a little leaven leavened at the whole lump

1006. and it was foreshadowing sin in the church

1007. and the leaven is picturing the fact that Christ

1008. is sinless because he's unleavened

1009. and so these are unleavened cakes or wafers

1010. it's like you kind of have

  1011. either an unleavened pancake

1012. or an unleavened cracker wafer

1013. type of a bread that they're eating

1014. so different styles and different methods

1015. of creating a meal here

1016. and notice God's giving them a little bit of liberty here

1017. they can make it into a cake style meal

1018. they can make it into a wafer style meal

1019. but then they are to eat it

1020. so this is what they're constantly eating

  1021. they're eating with oil

1022. so again oil is often a picture of the Holy Ghost

1023. and so of course Christ is this unleavened wafer

  1024. he's this unleavened cake

1025. he's filled with the Holy Ghost

1026. and then you have this frankincense

  1027. which frankincense you know

1028. I'm not going to be like super dogmatic about this

1029. because I think there's a lot of things this could picture

1030. obviously in general frankincense is a perfume

  1031. it's a smell it's an odor

1032. so in one sense it's typically there

1033. just to show that God's pleased with the offering

1034. that is a sweet saver that God is satisfied with

1035. I think another element is

  1036. that in the Gospels

1037. there's the women they go out and buy spices

1038. and they anoint the body of Christ

1039. so it's for his body

1040. and again what we're dealing with in this meat offering

1041. is really talking about the physical aspects of Christ

1042. we're talking about his physical body

  1043. he had no sin

1044. he's filled with the Holy Ghost

1045. but also his body saw no corruption

1046. and if you think about this Lazarus

1047. after four days the Bible says he stinketh

1048. if you kind of remember

  1049. whereas the women go

1050. and they anoint the body of Christ

1051. and in fact he's anointed many times throughout the Gospels

  1052. with perfumes

  1053. with ointments

1054. and it's to prepare for his burial

1055. and again the emphasis is that

1056. when Christ comes out and he resurrects

1057. that his body saw no corruption

  1058. and so I believe it's

1059. the frankincense is kind of showing like hey

  1060. this smells good

1061. as opposed to smelling bad

1062. and so Christ when he resurrects

1063. he has a sweet saver

  1064. a sweet smell

  1065. not a rotten smell

  1066. not a decomposing smell

  1067. because decomposing flesh

1068. is one of the most disgusting things you could ever smell

1069. and so it's kind of like just

1070. picturing how Christ's body was going to be preserved

1071. and it's not only going to be preserved

1072. but it's going to be a sweet saver

1073. and it's going to be a sweet smell

1074. and again that's because it's foreshadowing the

  1075. the resurrection itself

1076. that Christ is going to resurrect

1077. and there's nothing negative about the resurrection

1078. he has a glorified body

  1079. it's of a sweet saver

  1080. it's of a sweet smell

1081. because there's nothing worse than smelling

  1082. something bad

  1083. or smelling something rotten

1084. and you know that's why you take a shower

  1085. okay

1086. and and there's nothing wrong with perfume

1087. or there's nothing wrong with some kind of a fragrance

1088. that makes you smell you know pleasant

  1089. now don't be too heavy-handed there

1090. okay I'm not saying like

  1091. you know

1092. we don't want to smell you from feet away

  1093. okay

1094. but it's like you know

1095. some people use a slight fragrance or whatever

  1096. and it smells good

1097. you know you walk in the perfume store and you want to gag

  1098. because it's just overwhelming

  1099. and we get that

  1100. but it's just like

  1101. you know in general

  1102. there's a good fragrance

  1103. there's a bad fragrance

1104. and isn't it interesting that like

  1105. good religion

1106. is concerned with smelling good

  1107. and false religion

  1108. smells horrible

1109. have you ever noticed that

  1110. I'm just

1111. I'm just gonna say it okay

1112. I've noticed that false religion

  1113. and bad religion

  1114. usually smells bad

  1115. okay

  1116. their culture

  1117. there's their temples

  1118. their seeks or whatever

1119. I mean all of it just smells bad

1120. you know even the orthodox

1121. they do these weird things

  1122. like some orthodox

  1123. they'll take a rotten foot

1124. and they'll mix it in water

1125. they'll like stir water with a rotten foot

1126. and make people drink it

  1127. I've seen Hindus

1128. they're drinking like foot water

1129. you know if you read the

  1130. in the Old Testament

1131. there's gonna be a portion in the Bible

1132. where it talks about the false prophets

1133. fouling water with their feet

1134. and then making people drink it

  1135. wow

1136. and it's just interesting how like

  1137. false religion

1138. has like a physical uncleanness to it

  1139. and true biblical Christianity

1140. is trying to be clean

1141. and it's trying to have

  1142. good smells

  1143. and good fragrances

1144. you know it's like you go to a

  1145. Texas brisket restaurant

1146. and it just smells good

1147. you smell all the meat being cooked

  1148. and everything

  1149. and it's just like

1150. I mean you know think about it

  1151. where God is at

1152. it just always smells good

1153. I mean you smell someone

  1154. charcoaling and barbecuing

1155. and it just smells good

1156. you know in my neighborhood

1157. they smell someone's cooking burger

  1158. or someone's cooking steak

  1159. or something

  1160. it smells good

  1161. and you're just kind

1162. you're kind of like I want that

  1163. you know

1164. whereas it's like some places

  1165. some cultures

  1166. some cuisines

1167. you're like I don't want to smell your food

1168. I don't want to smell your cooking

  1169. I don't want to smell

  1170. your rotting meat

  1171. or your rotting flesh

1172. or the weird stuff that you're doing

  1173. and you know typically

1174. your taste is associated with

  1175. their smell anyways

1176. like God gave you a nose

  1177. to smell something

1178. and say oh I shouldn't put this in my mouth

  1179. because it smells bad

1180. like that's supposed to be

  1181. why you have that

1182. you know reprobates don't know this

1183. and so they'll eat disgusting things

  1184. they're on fear factor

1185. eating stuff your nose is telling you no

1186. why is it that when you have to eat

  1187. something you don't like

1188. isn't it hold your nose

1189. it's like you have medicines

  1190. hold your nose

1191. it's like why would I just ignore

  1192. every God given instinct

  1193. every God given intuition

1194. everything that God's given me of like

1195. hey this food smells rotten

  1196. and it looks rotten

1197. and it's like eat it

  1198. it's just like well

1199. maybe I should just eat stuff

  1200. that smells good

  1201. and looks good

1202. you know God gave me eyes

  1203. and a nose for a reason

1204. and I'm going to use it

  1205. okay

  1206. and of course

1207. I believe that all these things

  1208. are foreshadowing again

1209. the gospel that the gospel

1210. is a pleasant thing overall

  1211. obviously that cross

1212. and the crucifixion or not

  1213. but the specific elements

  1214. of the resurrection

1215. and he's coming out of the grave

  1216. and it's a sweet saver

1217. I mean it would be kind of

  1218. spoiling the gospel

  1219. if Christ came up

1220. you know resurrect from the dead

1221. and they're like oh wow we can tell

1222. you know from the smell

  1223. or something like that

1224. no it was a pleasant smell

  1225. it's a good smell

1226. on the walk to Emmaus

  1227. no one's like

1228. you kind of smell like

  1229. you've been in a grave

  1230. for three days

1231. you know so it's just like

1232. hey they were preserving the body

1233. and so I think again

  1234. that's where the frankincense

1235. being put in this offering

  1236. this meat offering

  1237. that God wanted

1238. them to enjoy the smell

  1239. of these offerings

  1240. and so it

1241. it smells like a good kitchen

  1242. you know where God

  1243. is having them perform

  1244. all these sacrifices

1245. and they have the oil there

  1246. they're doing a frying pan

1247. they can cook it in an oven

  1248. frying pan pan

1249. they got all kinds of different cooking

1250. instruments that they're using here

  1251. but they're using fire

1252. of course for every one of these sacrifices

1253. I want to look at verse 11

  1254. no meat offering

1255. which you shall bring to the Lord

1256. shall be made with leaven

1257. for you shall burn no leaven

  1258. nor any honey

1259. and any offering of the Lord

  1260. made by fire

1261. so two elements could not exist though

  1262. honey and leaven

1263. so again the leaven is a picture of sin

1264. and while I believe the frankincense

1265. is a picture of the resurrection

  1266. and why that's a sweet saver

  1267. I believe the honey

1268. is not put in here

1269. because of what the bible says

  1270. about taking no pleasure

  1271. in the crucifixion element

1272. okay so let's go to Isaiah

    Isaiah 53 chapter mention

  1273. chapter 53 for a moment

  1274. let's go to Isaiah chapter 53

    Isaiah 53 chapter mention

  1275. because again honey

  1276. is is sweet

  1277. and it's enjoyable

  1278. it's pleasant

1279. honey could picture a lot of different things

1280. you know I think also honey could just

1281. picture the carnal pleasures of this life

1282. and and again this is not

1283. you know the gospel is not about

  1284. your best life now

1285. and the carnal pleasures of this life

1286. you know there's nothing wrong

  1287. with carnal pleasures

1288. but this is not the gospel message

1289. you know Christ didn't die on the cross

1290. so you could have a sweet life

  1291. he didn't he didn't do that

1292. to just have like all of this joy

1293. and money and and whatever

1294. you know from the carnal pleasures of life

1295. like oh now I get to enjoy

1296. the cowboys more or something

1297. and like you know I love I don't mind

1298. football like I'm not like

1299. I want to be careful

  1300. I'm not hating football

1301. I'm not even saying football is bad

  1302. but what I don't like

1303. is how so many pastors

1304. india of w will preach with a cowboys jersey on

1305. and I mean I saw it recently this week

  1306. I saw like a pastor of a church

1307. she's just got a cowboys jersey on

1308. and I remember our our pastor growing up

1309. would always say like if he said

1310. if the cowboys make it to the super bowl

1311. he was going to dress in a full

  1312. cowboys uniform

1313. for the sermon on Sunday

1314. and I'm just thinking like why

1315. like should we have NASCAR church too

1316. like what if I'm just like

1317. hey if Jeff Gordon is going to win

1318. you know I'll dress up like Jeff Gordon

1319. or something you know it's just like

1320. like why or you know like pickleball

1321. or something you know it's like what

1322. like why why the cowboys

  1323. and it's like you know that's that's

1324. wrong to mix that with church

  1325. okay I'm not

1326. if you want to go watch a cowboys game

1327. or if you want to go play a sport

1328. or you want to watch people

1329. driving a circle and call it fun

1330. you can do that all you want

  1331. but it's like that's just that's just

  1332. not church

1333. okay I mean it's not about Christ

1334. it's not about the gospel

1335. and so we shouldn't be mixing the honey

1336. in with his other stuff

1337. and I believe you know when it talks

1338. about Christ look at what it says in

  1339. verse 1 of Isaiah 53

1340. who have believed our port

1341. and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed

1342. for he shall grow up before him

1343. as a tender plant and as a root

1344. out of a dry ground

1345. he have no form nor comeliness

1346. and we when we shall see him

  1347. there is no beauty

1348. that we should desire him

1349. he is despised and rejected

1350. of men and man of sorrows

  1351. and acquainted with grief

1352. and we hid as it were our faces rim

1353. he was despised and we esteemed him not

1354. so I believe what the Bible is trying

1355. to indicate here in Isaiah 53

1356. is the is the crucifixion

  1357. this is the crucifixion

1358. and it's just saying like

1359. when Christ was on the cross

  1360. you didn't enjoy that

1361. there was nothing enjoyable about the cross

1362. it's to picture the ugliness

1363. of our sin and the ugliness

1364. of what Christ is doing for us

1365. you know some people twisted this

1366. and I think it's blasphemous to say

  1367. that Christ was not

1368. he was like an ugly man or something

1369. or he looked he looked very rejected

  1370. from a carnal perspective

1371. well that undermines what the Bible

1372. teaches because the Bible teaches

1373. that the lambs are supposed to be

1374. like a perfect spotless lamb

1375. so it's supposed to be the most

  1376. attractive looking lamb sacrifice

1377. not something that has blemishes

1378. not something that it has

1379. and in fact the Bible is really explicit

  1380. that you know

1381. if you got a humpback

1382. you got a crooked nose

  1383. you know whatever

1384. you couldn't even perform the sacrifice

  1385. of the Lord

1386. you know picturing that Christ had to have been

1387. you know a spotless perfect lamb

  1388. without blemish

  1389. okay he wasn't

1390. there wasn't something messed up about him

1391. but obviously on the cross

1392. with a crown of thorns shoved on his head

1393. and being beaten and bloodied

1394. and bruised and not having eaten

1395. like it was an ugly picture

1396. because it's ugly for someone

  1397. to get beaten up

1398. it's ugly for someone to be

1399. you know hurt and in all these ways

1400. and so there was no beauty

1401. that they desired of him on the cross

  1402. because why?

  1403. because he was despised

1404. because he was rejected of men

1405. because he's been stripped and naked

1406. and shamed and beaten and whipped

  1407. and there's a crown of thorns

  1408. I mean it's just it's an ugly mess

  1409. it's an ugly mess

1410. but that's not to say

1411. that Christ himself was an unattractive person

  1412. or something

1413. that's a bad way to read the text

  1414. okay

1415. so we go back to Leviticus

1416. and it's saying no honey

  1417. I believe it's just picturing

1418. this this element of the cross

1419. that there was no nothing pleasant

  1420. about the cross

1421. okay so there's no honey mixed in

  1422. because there's nothing

1423. and again it's an unleavened cake

  1424. it's an unleavened wafer

  1425. again leaven and honey

1426. is really where you kind of

1427. you dial in the pleasure out elements

1428. you know it's like the fluffy pancake

1429. the fluffy pancake makes it kind of special

  1430. you know

  1431. in fact there's a restaurant in

  1432. Oklahoma City

1433. that we would eat at

  1434. as a breakfast place

1435. and they have the thickest pancakes

  1436. like I've ever had

  1437. and they were delicious

  1438. and I don't even like pancakes

  1439. like I'm not a pancake person

1440. but these pancakes were exceptional

  1441. and it was the

1442. you know they definitely used leaven

  1443. okay

1444. there was no question of whether

  1445. they were using leaven

1446. and of course they're also using

1447. sugar or something you know

1448. similar to what honey is bringing

  1449. into the recipe

  1450. is bringing in

1451. you know that pleasant aspect

  1452. but again with

  1453. Christ on the cross

  1454. it's an unpleasant picture

  1455. it's a sinless

1456. filled with the Holy Spirit

  1457. Christ

1458. that is being beaten and bloodied

  1459. and bruised

  1460. and blood's being sprinkled

  1461. and spattered

  1462. and again

1463. you know in some senses

1464. there's a kind of an ugly process

  1465. you know

  1466. slaughtering animals

  1467. and blood being everywhere

1468. that's not really that enjoyable either

1469. and it's just to illustrate

  1470. a lot of these

  1471. elements with

  1472. with Christ

1473. look at verse 13 now

  1474. it says

1475. in every oblation of thy meat offering

1476. shout thou season with salt

  1477. neither shout though suffer

1478. the salt of the covenant thy God to be lacking

  1479. from thy meat offering

  1480. with all thine offerings

  1481. thou shalt offer salt

1482. so every meat offering has salt on it

  1483. now salt

1484. currently speaking it preserves meat

1485. it'll help it last longer

1486. and in fact many meats

  1487. are salted heavily

1488. so they just have a very long shelf life

1489. you look at deli meats

1490. you look at like things like pepperoni

  1491. and salami

  1492. they've been

  1493. they've been salinated in a way

1494. to where they can be preserved

1495. for a very long time

  1496. a beef jerky

1497. salt is helping in this preservation element

1498. so if you think about it

  1499. it's something that should

  1500. dye rot and decompose

  1501. salt's keeping it

  1502. from dying

  1503. rotting and decomposing

1504. and so its shelf life

  1505. has been extended

  1506. so i would i would argue

1507. this is a picture of grace

1508. because the meat should have expired

1509. but it's not expiring when it should

  1510. so it's getting a grace period

1511. and so in a lot of ways salt

  1512. pictures grace itself

  1513. and so every meat

  1514. is pictured with grace

1515. and of course we're saved by grace

1516. we don't get what we deserve

1517. you know and of course

1518. every sacrifice has to have the salt

1519. because every sacrifice is a picture of grace

1520. because there's nothing about the gospel

1521. and there's nothing about christ

  1522. that isn't with grace

1523. it's all about the grace

1524. and how we're saved by grace

1525. we're saved by salt in a sense

1526. if the salt loses it's saver

  1527. it's good for nothing

  1528. and of course salt

1529. you know without any grace

1530. is just kind of meaningless

1531. and that would mean what?

1532. any salvation that's not by grace

  1533. is meaningless

  1534. any sacrifice without grace

  1535. is meaningless

  1536. okay

1537. it's the grace that's the needed element

  1538. and you could even

1539. you could even take another element

  1540. beyond just the gospel

1541. it's just like christians without grace

1542. are kind of meaningless too

  1543. because the bible says

1544. if you don't have charity

  1545. then you're nothing

  1546. you know

1547. if you're doing things without charity

1548. then it's just kind of meaningless

1549. and so we need to have grace

1550. and of course we can

  1551. take that element into

1552. you know our daily lives

  1553. not just the gospel

  1554. and getting saved

  1555. in chapter 3

  1556. look at verse 16

1557. i'm just going to kind of

1558. skip around just a few more verses

1559. that i think are interesting

1560. but it says in verse 16

  1561. the priest shall burn

  1562. and upon the altar

1563. it is the food of the offering

1564. made by fire for a sweet saver

  1565. all the fat

  1566. is the Lord

1567. so all the fat was supposed to be burned

  1568. now again

1569. i think that this is uh

1570. it's not so much like overly literal

  1571. like obviously in a

  1572. a ribeye

1573. or some portions of meat

1574. there's this like tiny little bits of fat

1575. that are wedged in there

1576. this is talking about the big portions of fat

1577. and it very clearly articulates these

  1578. okay

1579. so you're just taking all the main sections of fat

1580. and you're taking them all out

  1581. of the offering

  1582. system

1583. and it's all the lords

1584. and again i believe the fat is a picture of sin

  1585. okay it's a picture of sin

  1586. and how

1587. all the fat is burnt

1588. and all the fat is consumed

  1589. because christ's really satisfied

  1590. all of our sin

  1591. the bible says

1592. the blood of jesus christ cleansed us from all sin

1593. and so just all the fat

  1594. all that excess

  1595. is completely burned

1596. is completely given to the lord

  1597. and it's completely satisfied

  1598. by god

1599. whereas you see the false prophets

  1600. people like elie suns

1601. they love to eat the fat

1602. and it's just kind of a picture of how they don't want

1603. you know the actual satisfaction for their sins

  1604. or the

1605. the atonement for their sins

  1606. and they just

  1607. indulge in sin

  1608. and they

1609. allow themselves to become excess

  1610. because of the fat

  1611. look at chapter number

  1612. ten

  1613. four verse ten

  1614. it says

1615. and as it was taken off of the bullet

1616. of the sacrifice of peace offerings

1617. the priest shall burn them

1618. upon the altar of the burn offering

1619. and the skin of the bullet

1620. and all his flesh hit his head

  1621. and with his legs

1622. and his inwards and his dung

  1623. even the whole bullet

1624. shall he carry forth without the camp

  1625. under clean place

1626. where the ash is poured out

  1627. and burn them

1628. on the wood of the

  1629. with the fire

  1630. so

  1631. it

  1632. and I'm not again

1633. I'm not reading everything here

1634. so you kind of have to just

  1635. roll with me

  1636. but

1637. all the inwards were burnt at the altar

  1638. all the outward portion

1639. was then taken outside the camp

1640. and it was burned separately

1641. so go to Hebrews chapter 13

    Hebrews 13 chapter mention

1642. if you would go to Hebrews chapter 13

    Hebrews 13 chapter mention

  1643. this is the picture

1644. two two elements of the burning

  1645. now

1646. why is it the inwards burnt

  1647. in that altar there

1648. because I believe that's the picture of hell

  1649. and again

  1650. what went to hell

  1651. Christ's body didn't go to hell

1652. his soul went to hell

  1653. okay

  1654. picturing the inward part

  1655. but the outward part

1656. was taken without the camp

1657. and this is told explicitly

1658. in the book of Hebrews

1659. that this is picturing the cross

1660. so in Hebrews chapter 13 verse 10

    Hebrews 13:10

1661. it says we have an altar

1662. where they have no right to eat

  1663. which serve the tabernacle

1664. for the bodies of those beasts

1665. whose blood is brought into the sanctuary

1666. by the high priest for sin

1667. are burned without the camp

  1668. wherefore Jesus also

1669. that he might sanctify the people

  1670. with his own blood

  1671. suffered without the gate

1672. let us go forth therefore

1673. unto him without the camp

  1674. bearing his approach

1675. so it kind of says like

1676. oh just like they would take the skin

  1677. and the head

  1678. and they took that

  1679. and they put that

1680. and did it without the camp

1681. but the inwards were burned

  1682. there at the altar

  1683. so again

1684. his soul went to hell

  1685. but outwardly

1686. he went to the cross

1687. he was outside the city

  1688. they took him without

1689. and they put him on the cross

1690. and that's where his skin

  1691. and his head

  1692. and whatever were suffering

1693. because let me tell you something

  1694. when you're getting whipped

1695. and you're getting a crowd of thorns

1696. and you're getting nails pierced

  1697. you know what's hurting

  1698. your skin

1699. and it's hurting your head

  1700. you know it's hurting

1701. the outward parts of the body

  1702. but the inward parts

  1703. the soul

1704. that's where the fire from hell

1705. is actually the pains of death

1706. okay so that's why it's two separate things

1707. like you kind of wonder like

1708. why not just burn it all right there

1709. couldn't they have just done that

1710. why go through all the hassle

  1711. and all the effort

1712. of burning the inside here

1713. then taking the outside out

  1714. and the burning

1715. because it's picturing different elements

1716. of the sacrifice of Christ

1717. not only did he go without the camp

1718. not only did he get crucified

1719. not only is his skin his body

  1720. and his physical

1721. you know pain that he suffered

1722. he also has the inward suffering

1723. of hell and the burning

1724. that was there as well

1725. so inward burn on the altar

1726. outward burn outside the camp

1727. and then it's foreshadowed here

1728. go to chapter 5 look at verse 15

  1729. chapter 5 verse 15

1730. and I know this morning I'm not

1731. you know getting up and screaming

1732. and yelling about how wicked

1733. and feminist our world is but

1734. you know hopefully you like the bible

  1735. okay come tonight

  1736. all right that's all I'd say

1737. but it says in chapter 5 verse 15

1738. if a soul committed trespass

  1739. a sin through ignorance

1740. in the holy things of the Lord

1741. then he shall bring for his trespass

1742. and the Lord it ran without blemish

  1743. under the flocks

1744. or out of the flocks

  1745. with thy estimation

  1746. by shekels of silver

1747. after the shekel of the sanctuary

  1748. for a trespass offering

1749. and he shall make amends

1750. for the harm that he had done

  1751. in the holy thing

1752. and shall add the fifth part there to

1753. and give it under the priest

1754. and the priest shall make an atonement

  1755. for him

1756. with the ram of the trespass offering

1757. and it shall be forgiven him

1758. so chapter 1 we dealt with the burnt offering

  1759. chapter 2 is a meat offering

  1760. chapter 3 is a peace offering

  1761. chapter 4 is dealing

1762. and chapter 5 are kind of dealing

  1763. with trespass offerings

  1764. and ignorance offerings

  1765. and sin offerings

1766. and it's saying if someone did some

  1767. ignorant offering

1768. like an ignorant sin I'm sorry

  1769. they sin through ignorance

1770. or this trespass through ignorance

1771. then not only do they have to give the animal sacrifice

1772. they have to give a fifth portion

1773. of shekels of money to the priest

1774. and notice it said in verse 15

  1775. with thy estimation

1776. by shekels of the silver

1777. after the shekel of the sanctuary

  1778. so they figure out

  1779. hey I sinned

1780. and they realize they sinned

1781. then they bring the animal

1782. when they bring the animal

1783. they have to then figure out

1784. how much does this animal cost

1785. and so I don't know the numbers

  1786. doesn't matter

1787. let's just say it was a thousand shekels or whatever

1788. they would say okay this animal is a thousand shekels

1789. and then they would say okay

1790. then I have to give a fifth of that

  1791. in money also

1792. so if it was a thousand

  1793. you're giving a fifth that's 20%

1794. so I'm trying to use easy numbers

1795. that would be what 200 shekels

1796. okay so they have to give 200 shekels with it

1797. but they're figuring out the price of this animal

1798. to end up giving this

  1799. look at chapter six

1800. and let's read some more about this

1801. it says in the Lord's bacon of Moses saying

1802. if a soul sin and commit a trespass against the Lord

1803. and lie unto his neighbor

1804. and that which was delivered him to keep

  1805. or in fellowship

1806. or in a thing taken away by violence

1807. or at deceived his neighbor

1808. or have found that which was lost

  1809. and lieth concerning it

  1810. and sweareth falsely

1811. and any of all these

1812. that a man doeth sinning therein

1813. then it shall be because he has sinned and is guilty

1814. that he's restored that which he took violently away

1815. or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten

1816. or that which was delivered him to keep

1817. or the lost thing which he found

1818. or all that about which he hath sworn falsely

1819. he shall even restore it in the principle

1820. and shall add the fifth part more there to

1821. and give it unto him

  1822. to whom it appertaineth

1823. in the day of his trespass offering

1824. and he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord

1825. and ram without blemish out of the flock

1826. with by estimation for a trespass offering

  1827. notice this

  1828. unto the priest

1829. so what's interesting about this

1830. is you have a situation

1831. where you not only give the animal sacrifice

1832. you have this shekels of silver being given to him

1833. and the first portion is he didn't do it

1834. he didn't understand it was a sin through ignorance

1835. okay he whisked it not

1836. as the bible says in verse 17

1837. he whisked it not meaning he didn't know

1838. he was guilty but he didn't understand it

1839. and I believe this is foreshadowing Judas Iscariot

  1840. okay because Judas Iscariot

1841. he goes in covenants with the priest

1842. and is given 30 shekels of silver

1843. to betray the Lord Jesus Christ okay

1844. but then later when he after the after the crucifixion

1845. Judas ends up coming to himself and realizing

  1846. he's betrayed innocent blood

1847. so in a sense you can see like oh he didn't realize

1848. what he was even doing exactly

1849. and he comes and he gives that money back to the priests

1850. and so in the same sense it's like this guy

  1851. sins through ignorance

1852. and then he gives this shekels of money to the priest

1853. that they estimated the value of this animal

1854. and again they ask that they give a price of Christ

1855. of course it's 30 shekels in the New Testament

  1856. is what we understand

1857. and it's just kind of an interesting foreshadowing

1858. but think about what Judas did

1859. and then it's interesting when you read

  1860. chapter six again

1861. because it's interesting thinking about like

1862. what it's saying would be the reason

1863. why you would have to give money

1864. and then it's like what did Judas do

1865. because it says here in verse number two

1866. if a soul sin had committed trespasses against the Lord

1867. and lie unto his neighbor

1868. oh that's what Judas did

1869. he lied unto Jesus didn't he

1870. in that which he was delivered him to keep

1871. he was supposed to keep the Lord Jesus Christ safe

1872. but he lies and he delivers them onto the Romans

  1873. or in fellowship

1874. I mean he comes and betrays him with a kiss

  1875. he's lying to him

  1876. he's deceiving him in a fellowship

1877. if you keep reading it says

1878. or in a thing taken away by violence

1879. oh you mean like the Roman soldiers coming with swords

1880. to take away the Lord Jesus Christ

1881. and then it says or at the seed his neighbor

1882. again the betrayal of the kiss by Judas Iscariot

1883. or have found that which was lost and lieth concerning it

  1884. and swear it falsely

1885. of course it's like Christ is kind of coming

  1886. and it's like a secret

1887. the gospel has been lost

1888. and then Judas of course is like lying about this

1889. it's like it's interesting how all these people

  1890. that are guilty

1891. are just like Judas Iscariot

1892. and that's the specific sacrifice

1893. that you have to add money

1894. you have to add the sequels of the sanctuary

1895. and of course then that money goes to the priest

  1896. in the same way

1897. the money of Judas went back to the priest

1898. and then they bought Potiphar's field

  1899. with that money

1900. and so it's just kind of interesting how a lot of these

  1901. you know sacrifices

1902. are kind of picturing elements

  1903. of the gospel message

  1904. look at

  1905. verse 12

1906. it says in the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it

1907. it shall not be put out

1908. and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning

1909. and lay burnt offering in order upon it

1910. and he shall burn thereof

1911. there on the fat of the peace offering

1912. so verse 13 the fire shall ever be burning

1913. upon the altar and it shall never go out

1914. this picture is again hell is forever

  1915. hell will never cease

1916. so there's an eternal nature

1917. there was a sacrifice though every morning

1918. so you could you could see how

  1919. hell is forever

  1920. but Christ sacrifices forever

  1921. and it covers that

1922. and so will never taste of death

  1923. in verse 16

1924. it says in the rainder there shall Aaron

1925. and his sons eat with unleavened bread

1926. shall it be eaten in the holy place

1927. in the court of the tabernacle

  1928. of the congregation

  1929. they shall eat it

1930. so they're eating this flour

1931. they're eating this bread meal

1932. and it's really specific in these chapters

1933. when it's talking about eating

1934. it's usually talking about the bread

1935. the wafer or the cake

  1936. so they're eating this

  1937. and it's a sweet saver

  1938. it's a memorial

1939. so to satisfy you going to hell

1940. you eat the wafer in a sense

1941. and what is that foreshadowing

  1942. that's picturing how

1943. we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

1944. and his death burn resurrection

  1945. and that satisfies us

  1946. from going to hell

1947. this is brought up in John chapter 6

    John 6 chapter mention

1948. Jesus Christ said that you had to eat

  1949. his flesh

1950. so that you could have life in you

1951. you eat food to have life

1952. you eat food to survive

1953. to be sustained another day

1954. and in the same way

1955. we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

1956. and that gives us eternal life

1957. it's a bread that you don't have to eat every day

1958. but in the same sense

1959. you have to eat it for life

  1960. and we do this

  1961. we believe

1962. and that's what gives us salvation

1963. but notice in verse 17

1964. it shall not be bacon with leaven

1965. I have given unto them for

1966. their portion of my offerings made by fire

1967. it is most holy as the sin offering

1968. and as the trespass offering

  1969. it cannot have leaven

  1970. picturing what salvation

1971. is not faith and works

  1972. it is faith alone

1973. and why is it not works

  1974. by leaven here

1975. because any offering that we have of ourselves

  1976. is coming leavened

  1977. because we are sinful

  1978. we have fallen short

1979. so therefore our works cannot save us

1980. and we can't mix in

  1981. what Christ did

  1982. His wafer

  1983. with our wafer

1984. because our wafer is leavened

  1985. and he doesn't accept

1986. any offering with leaven in it

  1987. so guess what

1988. your offering is not accepted

1989. Cain's offering is not accepted

  1990. any offering

1991. that is tainted with leaven

1992. is not accepted of God

1993. that's why it has to be an unleavened wafer

  1994. which is only Christ

1995. you know I like this verse

1996. and I use it a lot in my soul

1997. and now I'll go over to Romans chapter 5

    Romans 5 chapter mention

1998. and I think this is an important point

1999. but you know in Romans chapter number 5

2000. I'm trying to help people understand

  2001. the two elements

2002. that salvation is a free gift

2003. but also that you know

2004. it was we illustrate typically

2005. in the first point of our gospel presentation

2006. that you know there's none righteous

  2007. no not one

  2008. okay

2009. but then the bible brings up

2010. that there is one righteous

  2011. again verse 18

2012. and I'm just starting in the middle of the verse

2013. even so by the righteousness of one

  2014. the free gift

2015. came upon all men in justification of life

2016. I usually in my gospel presentation

2017. I'll just read that portion

  2018. and I'll say this

2019. who was the only one that was righteous

2020. and pretty much without fail

2021. they'll say it was Jesus

2022. it's by the righteousness of one

  2023. that the free gift

2024. came upon all men in justification of life

2025. we can't screw that up

  2026. we can't misunderstand that

2027. because clearly there's only one that was righteous

  2028. and it's a free gift

2029. and it comes to everyone

2030. so everyone is offered to be saved

  2031. by the free gift

  2032. of what Christ did

  2033. and his righteousness

2034. our offering with leaven is not accepted by God

  2035. we can't

2036. it's not us and him

2037. it's the righteousness of one

  2038. there's one wafer

  2039. there's one cracker

  2040. there's one thing

  2041. that you metaphorically eat

2042. it's believing on the Lord Jesus Christ

  2043. and that gives us

  2044. our salvation

2045. and if you go back

2046. look at verse 18 now

2047. so in verse 16 they eat the wafer

  2048. 17 it's not with leaven

  2049. 18 notice this

2050. and all the males among the children of error

2051. and shall eat of it

2052. it shall be a statue forever

2053. in generations turning the offerings

2054. of the Lord made by fire

  2055. everyone that touches them

  2056. shall be holy

2057. so notice when you do this

  2058. you become holy

2059. and that's a picture of the imputed righteousness

2060. of the Lord Jesus Christ

2061. that comes on to you

2062. when you believe on him

2063. when you don't accept the sacrifice of leaven

2064. when you're just trusting him alone

2065. that's what makes you holy

  2066. just simply touching it

2067. and it made me think of a story in the gospel

2068. go through to Matthew chapter number nine

2069. go to Matthew chapter nine

2070. this is going to tie everything to what I'm saying together

2071. to where it's clear of what I'm saying

  2072. oh well you're just

2073. you're just saying that eating the cracker is just faith alone

2074. or you're just saying doing these things is faith alone

2075. or faith is what's the the the spiritual element

2076. and that's what the bible says okay

  2077. let me show you

  2078. Matthew chapter nine

2079. look at verse number 20

2080. and behold a woman which was

2081. with an issue of blood 12 years came behind him

2082. and touched the hem of his garment

2083. so just like they touched this

  2084. and they became holy

2085. she comes and touches Jesus

2086. verse 21 for she said within herself

2087. if I'm able to touch his garment

  2088. I shall be whole

2089. so she's made whole by touching the garment

2090. but Jesus turned him about

2091. and when he saw her

2092. he said daughter be of good comfort

2093. thy faith hath made the whole

2094. and the woman was made whole from that hour

  2095. so notice

2096. it wasn't just touching Jesus

2097. or touching bread or doing it

2098. it's not these carnal things that saves you

2099. it was the faith that saved them

2100. that's what it means to eat the cracker

2101. that's what it means when the Jesus is saying

2102. in John chapter number six to eat his flesh

2103. that's what it means when it's talking about

  2104. touching the garment

  2105. or touching the bread

  2106. and being made holy

2107. it's putting your faith in Jesus Christ

2108. and that makes you whole

  2109. that makes you righteous

2110. that makes you right with God

2111. that gives you the atonement

2112. that's what causes you go to heaven

2113. it's not anything you did physically

2114. it's your faith that saves you

2115. and it couldn't be clear

2116. I want to go to a couple more verses in chapter six

2117. which will be done for this morning

2118. but you know I hope that maybe

2119. when you're reading the Old Testament

2120. you won't be discouraged on in Leviticus

2121. you'll think like hey I want to behold

2122. wondrous things out of thy law

  2123. because there's something

2124. you know for the person that's not saved

2125. it's going to be a really boring session

  2126. okay

2127. I'm going to be like man

  2128. just killing animals again

2129. and dung and heads and crackers and whatever

2130. but you know what for us that are saved

  2131. there's a whole another layer

2132. that's really exciting and really enjoyable

2133. and it's wonderful that we get to read through it

2134. now again there's nothing wrong with the law

2135. and I'm not saying that

2136. you can't enjoy it even carnally

2137. but let's just be honest this is a little dry

2138. but for those of us that are saved

  2139. it comes alive

  2140. and and of course

2141. you know that's kind of just that

2142. their communion is is dead

  2143. and dry

2144. ours is alive because there's meaning

2145. you know we're not we're not drinking booze

  2146. okay like the Catholics

2147. we're not going to go

2148. have service every Sunday morning and drink booze

2149. how is how is that making you go to heaven

2150. like if you're Catholic you have

2151. you believe you have to perform the Eucharist to go to heaven

2152. you believe a cracker and alcohol

2153. are going to get you into heaven

2154. it's no it's faith that saves you

  2155. and it's faith in Christ's sacrifice

2156. and what he did for us that saves us

2157. so in chapter six it says in verse 23

2158. for every meat offering for the priest shall be holy burnt

2159. it shall not be eaten

  2160. so you know again

2161. a lot of these the sacrifices were holy burnt

2162. and I believe that's to show that

2163. Christ died for the full offering for sin

2164. you know some secularist and weird people

2165. will say that Christ didn't really die

2166. you know he really died

2167. and that's the picture that the whole burnt offering

2168. and so he took the whole picture for us

  2169. verse 28

2170. but the earthen vessel wearing it was

2171. sawed in shall be broken

2172. and if it be sawed in a brazen pot

2173. it shall be scoured and rinsed in water

2174. now this is kind of interesting but

2175. you could cook some of these things in different vessels

2176. an earthen vessel would be like a clay type of a pot

2177. like a dust pot or something

2178. and a brazen pot is obviously a metal type pot

2179. and again from a cleanliness perspective

2180. you know if you're cooking in clay

2181. and the and the dirt and the dust

2182. like disease bacteria and stuff

2183. can get into that actual pot

  2184. and it become contaminated

2185. and it's not clean anymore

2186. so after you cooked in something like that

  2187. you just break it

2188. okay the brazen pot can be rinsed

2189. and scoured scoured just like scrubbing

2190. so they're just scrubbing it clean

  2191. they're wiping it down

2192. and I believe that this is picturing

  2193. again Christ

2194. he from an earthly perspective

2195. his earthly vessel was destroyed

2196. you know the bible says

2197. that when he breaks the cracker

2198. he says that his body was broken

2199. and it was broken for us

  2200. so Jesus Christ

2201. so the earthen vessel was broken

2202. but then he rose again

2203. and of course you know you kind of picture

2204. you know brazen things can abide by the fire

2205. they were cooked in fire

  2206. and they're rinsed

2207. and now they can be used again

2208. and I believe that's a picture of the resurrected body

  2209. so the resurrection

2210. hey he abides by the fire

2211. and it's not going to be broken

2212. it's going to be reused

2213. and it'll be used forever

  2214. and it's been cleansed

2215. and so you know it can continue being used

2216. of course you have pictures of Christ himself

  2217. even his feet

  2218. are like brazen feet

2219. that were abiding in the fire

2220. and so you kind of have these pictures

2221. look at verse 30 in nosen offering

2222. where of any of the blood

2223. is brought into the tabernacle of congregation

2224. to reconcile with all in the holy place

  2225. shall be eaten

2226. it shall be burnt in the fire

  2227. so all the blood

2228. is discarded in the sense

2229. so all the blood is emptied

2230. and I guess my last point would be this is that

2231. you know it seems like

2232. because the Bible says without the shedding of blood

2233. there is no remission of sins

2234. so all the blood of Christ was shed for us

  2235. okay

  2236. and it appears

2237. and again this is just my understanding of Scripture

  2238. but when Christ reappears

2239. and he's showing himself to them

2240. he says like flesh and blood

2241. cannot enter the kingdom of God

2242. and he says he has like flesh and bone

  2243. but not blood

2244. and it appears that our first experience

2245. our first life is powered by blood

2246. but our second is powered by the Spirit

2247. and so you know eating of blood

2248. is kind of a picture of trying to live forever

2249. in this old body carnally

2250. and you know this is what a lot of people want to do

2251. a lot of people are trying to just live forever

2252. in this body with blood

2253. you'll notice the satanic the occultists

  2254. they're obsessed with blood

2255. and many of them are eating blood

  2256. drinking blood

  2257. vampires are drinking blood

2258. like there's this obsession of the satanic

2259. there's this obsession of the ungodly

  2260. with blood

  2261. you have the Mayans

2262. and you have the Aztecs

2263. and you have the Native Americans

2264. you know they're obsessed with eating blood

  2265. and drinking blood

2266. you know the Bible forbids this

  2267. you go into India

2268. into these dark corners of the world of Hinduism

  2269. they're into blood

2270. I mean they've not seen Indiana Jones

2271. and the Temple of Doom

  2272. it's weird all right

  2273. they're doing weird stuff

  2274. I know it's a movie but you know

2275. I'm just saying like hey it's weird

2276. but you know we're not looking for blood

  2277. to sustain us forever

2278. okay it's the Spirit of God

2279. that gives us that life

2280. and being renewed in our spirit

2281. and you know we shouldn't be so obsessed with the blood

  2282. you know in church

2283. you know you should realize that

2284. there's something more powerful than blood

  2285. it's the Spirit

2286. and you see Jesus Christ

2287. saying who is my mother

  2288. who is my brother

2289. you know what's more important

  2290. than a blood relative

  2291. is a spiritual relative

2292. and so you know the Spirit usurps the blood

2293. and you know we shouldn't be dwelling on the blood

2294. you know of course many people are dwelling on blood the day

  2295. they dwell on blood

2296. because they think about genetics

2297. they're always concerned with genetics

  2298. and they're like

2299. we got to save the world

2300. by all being one color

  2301. or one race

2302. or or having you know

  2303. it's all about bloodlines

  2304. it's all about genetics

2305. it's all about this group of people

  2306. or it's about family

2307. like everything that's not trying to serve God

2308. it's always about blood or something

  2309. yeah okay

2310. it's always about my family

  2311. or my bloodline

  2312. or my heritage

2313. or my you know white supremacy

  2314. or black supremacy

  2315. or whatever

  2316. you know

2317. and I like how white people always demonize

2318. the only people that want this

  2319. it's like bro

2320. go with me in the ghetto

2321. and you'll meet people that say like

2322. they're the physical descendants of Israel

2323. and they're dark as night

  2324. okay

2325. like and then you would go meet some Jews

2326. and they'll say they're the physical descendants of Abraham

  2327. okay

2328. and then you'll we meet some white people

  2329. and they say like

2330. well we're better than them

2331. you know and just like

  2332. everybody thinks they're better

2333. but you know what's better

  2334. spirit

  2335. spiritual family

2336. the spiritual truths of the bible

2337. and you know what's better than the

2338. carnal truths of the bible

2339. the spiritual truths of the bible

  2340. okay

2341. so don't eat blood number one

  2342. but number two

2343. you know let the spirit be more important than the blood

  2344. and you know that's

2345. that's where we're gonna all be anyways

2346. we behold wonders things of thy law

2347. we're gonna have eternal life

2348. you know if you haven't believed in the Lord Jesus Christ

2349. you need to settle that today

2350. but you know there's cool things in the bible

  2351. when you're saved

2352. and you take the time to slow down

2353. so hopefully next time you read through Leviticus

2354. you'll kind of see some of the pictures

2355. you'll see some of these elements

2356. and we'll understand that the sacrifices of Leviticus

2357. were to all point us to Christ

  2358. let's close in prayer

2359. thank you heavenly father so much for your word

2360. thank you for the sacrifice of Christ

  2361. for him being

2362. you know this perfect spotless lamb

2363. willing to die on the cross for our sins

2364. willing to bear the burden of all of our sins

2365. willing to have his blood sprinkled

2366. and shed and poured out

2367. willing for his his soul to send in the hell

2368. for three days and three nights

2369. but to come out victorious

2370. and I pray that we would follow in his footsteps

2371. that we would love the bible

2372. that we'd love the pictures

2373. that we would embrace the spiritual truths of the bible

2374. that we wouldn't be offended

2375. by the carnal truths or the spiritual truths

2376. and that we would elevate the spiritual over the carnal

2377. in Jesus name we pray amen
