The Light Of Life - Pastor J.D. Howell 9-27-2026

The book of Isaiah. May I direct your attention to

the ninth chapter. We'll be reading verses number one through seven.

I want to say I appreciate Brother Jeremiah, our sound technician,

and Brother Caleb Robcap, our IT administrator, for everything they

do concerning Hope Radio and the church website. I have

heard from people in the states of Tennessee, North Carolina,

and Kentucky. Over this weekend, people of whom have listened

to the services have indulged in the archive sermons and

said they have been a blessing to them. I said,

you listen, I may have preached some of them messages.

Some of the other people in our church may have

preached some of them messages, but you know what? We

have nothing to do with that. That's Brother Jeremiah Howell

and Brother Caleb Brobecapt that made that possible. So may

God continue to bless. their ministries. I know people don't

like the idea of online sermon ministries or sermon preservation.

I feel like it has its purpose, and I appreciate

it very much. It's a lot easier for me to

click on a link and access a sermon than it.

Is to pull out the old cassette tape.

Brother Jesse John, chapter number 8, verse number 12. We

All right, Brother Nathaniel Matthew, chapter number 4, verses number

13 through 17, my brother. And leaving Nazareth, he came

and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast

and the borders of Zebulun and Nephilim. That it might

be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,

The land of Zebulun and the land of Nephilim, by

the way of the sea beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

people which sat in darkness saw great light. And to

them which sat in the region and shadow of death,

light is sprung up. From that time, Jesus began to

preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven

is at hand.

Amen. Praise the Lord.

Brother Jesse, John chapter number 8, verse number 12, my brother.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the

light of the world. He that followeth me shall not

walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Oh, praise the Lord for the light of life. I'd

like to preach a message the Holy Ghost titled, the

light of life. Can we stand for the reading of

our golden text, Isaiah chapter number 9, reading verses number

1 through 7. The Bible reads as this, nevertheless the

dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation,

when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of

Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more

grievously afflict her by the way of the sea beyond

Jordan in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked

in darkness have seen a great light. They that dwell

in the land of the shadow of death, upon them

hath the light shined. Thou hast multiplied the nation and

not increased the joy. They joy before thee according to

the joy in harvest. And as men rejoice when they

divide the spoils. For thou hast broken the yoke of

his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod

of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. For

every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and

garments rolled in blood, but this shall be with burning

and fuel of fire. For unto us is a child born,

unto us a son is given, and the government shall

be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful.

counselor the mighty God the everlasting father the prince of

peace and of the increase of his government and peace

there shall be no end upon the throne of David

and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish

it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever

the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this

praise the Lord would you stretch your hand toward heaven

and ask the Lord to help us this morning Heavenly Father,

we love and we praise you. We thank you for

the opportunity to be in your house, Lord. We pray

that you would anoint this thy people and help them

to hear what the Spirit of God says unto the church.

This day, Lord, set a guard at their ear, I pray,

and help them to hear only that that you would

have them to hear. I pray that you would set

a guard at my mouth and help me to say

only those things that you would have me say. Nothing

more or less, anoint this people, I pray. Oh, God,

help us to hear and heed. I pray that these

sayings would go below the shoulders, that they would saturate

the spirit, the heart, the mind, the being. I pray, God,

help us to depart this place joyfully, not sorrowfully.

And the church said, amen.

As you're being seated, look at your neighbor and say, hey, neighbor,

are you walking and living in the light? I believe

you are. Praise the Lord for that. I'd like to

encourage you this morning. Looking again at Isaiah chapter number

9 and verses number 1 through 7 in that group

of scripture, you will see much said about the light

of life, Jesus Christ himself, Mr. Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace,

Almighty God, and Everlasting Father. Our text is found in

an Old Testament book of the Holy Bible, the book

of Isaiah. A lot of the Bible students and readers

amongst us today know very well who this man of

God is. He is one of the major prophets. The

reason some of the theologians have put the prophets of

God in categories is because some of them were long-winded

and some of them were short-winded. When you read their

writings or their chronicles, or of their prophecies that these

oracles and seers of God had spoken and written and

recorded for us, you'll see that some had very little

to say. And even though they had very little to say,

their words were quite significant as they were spoken to

their people, their brothers and sisters that lived in the

promised land. Then there were those other preachers like Brother

Nathaniel Howell that seemed to really be divinely inspired and

have a lot to say. someone that could walk right

out of the Sunday school class, come into the sanctuary,

lead the service, exhort, admonish, and even preach, and still

have something to say when you're sitting across from him

at the Rib City.

After church.

I'm talking about lone winter brother Nathaniel Howell. I'm not

saying that he would preach for two or three hours

at one time, but this brother has the Word of

God in his heart, and there's an abundance and wealth

of spiritual wisdom and insight and knowledge. in Brother Nathaniel

Howell's heart as well as some of the other preachers

at the Bethel Holiness Church. While some of you say,

I am one of them short-winded preachers, I don't have

a lot to say, but I have noticed that you

are divinely inspired too. And as the oracle of God,

when you speak, you speak as an oracle of God.

And there's been times you have comforted us by preaching

unto us the Word of God. There's been times that

our path has somewhat been darkened because as pilgrims we

walk through a dark earth. And in this life we

are sometimes shrouded in darkness, unfortunately.

But our long-winded and short-winded.

Preachers have shed light on upon us as we walk

through life, as we navigate this life. So it's clear

for all of us to see that this particular prophet,

this oracle, this seer, this man of God was gifted

to see the.

Things that were forthcoming.

And Brother Jesse, God chose this gifted individual for divine purposes.

Aren't you thankful that God gifted the church with preachers

and teachers? apostles, missionaries, evangelists, pastors for the perfecting of

the church to shine a ray of light upon your

pathway sometimes when you have taken a wrong direction or

when you've stepped in the wrong direction. Thank God for

the Word of God. that has been a lamp unto

your feet and a light unto your path. So the

nation of Israel needed an oracle or someone that was

a seer to shine the light upon their pathway. The

Bible readers and students in this building this morning know

very well that this holy oracle of the Lord is

often quoted in the New Testament In fact, Brother Nathaniel

just read our co-text. And our co-text was Matthew's recording

of the prophet Isaiah prophesying at such a time as

we're reading during our text. So truly this man of

God contributed much to this divinely inspired sacred.

Writ of 66 books.

When we look at his contribution, And the fact that

his writing is divided. And in two segments we find

a representation of the Old Testament. And at the latter

segment we find a representation of the New Testament.

There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever.

That the prophet Isaiah, albeit long-winded, was a man highly

anointed and called and sent by God. And I'm thankful

today for Isaiah chapter number 53 that has been so

significant in.

Our lives and during our worship services.

I'm thankful for the obedience that he had to the

Lord and that he shared so many divine revelations to

people of his and other generations, including ours. You see,

this prophet Isaiah was a man that would shine a

ray of light to his generation.

People who had been giving.

Themselves over to corruption and idolatry. How many of you

know the Adamic nature? If left to itself, it will

lead us down. A path that seems right, but it's

a path that leads to destruction. When you think about

the wise men of God, Solomon, and how with all

of that wisdom he ended up erring greatly and how

he manufactured and fabricated temples for all of those pagan

princes and queens and princesses. I can imagine what impact

And the world went on in the mind of Solomon

for it to become so spiritually darkened when he was

seemingly so illuminated with the wisdom from above. Can I

tell you, you can have all of the wisdom in

this world today But if it is not properly applied

to your life, it is to no effect or avail.

If you have all of the light in this world

that is available to you, you can have the best church.

You can have oracles such as Brother Nathaniel Howell. Brother

Caleb Rocap, Brother Samuel Howell, Brother Aaron Wood and all

the other preachers at the Bethel Holiness Church. You can

have an abundance of light being cast upon your life,

but if you don't acknowledge the fact that it is

there for a purpose, the purpose of preaching is to

shed the light upon your path and enable you to

change course forever.

Whenever needed.

And I can tell you, no matter how long you've

been in church, no matter how long you've been saved, sanctified,

and Holy Ghost filled, no matter how much wisdom and

insight you have, Your feet can almost slip. We know

the psalmist said, My feet have now slipped. I'll tell

you how you end up on a slippery slope.

As you wander too long in the darkness.

So this nation had succumbed to corruption and idolatry. And

he preached to a people who had shifted up and

away from God. the cornerstone spiritually, and a people who

had tossed their spirituality and morality compass into an unholy cesspool.

Could you imagine living in such a time as this

when every neighbor you have, every member of the 12

tribes of Israel is an inhabitant of the promised land,

and you realize, oh God, in heaven. My brothers and

sisters have been so corrupted that we're living in a

spiritual cesspool. I feel like preaching the psalm today. If

you're not careful, you'll shift. from the cornerstone, Jesus Christ,

and toss that spiritual and moral compass over your shoulder

and find yourself waiting aimlessly in a cesspool of life.

It was a dark period of time for the Israelites

who inhabited the promised land. In fact, it's growing now.

darker by the day. That's the time that we're living in.

Apostle Paul spoke concerning his day and hour.

He said, perilous times shall come.

And not long after Paul had departed, we find the

grievous wolves coming in by the spiritual stealth of night.

And we find them devouring the flock.

And And the spirit of Antichrist was at work way

back then.

Are y'all listening to me here this morning?

And we know that it's grown darker for the children

of this world. Or the children of darkness. But for

the children of light. The pathway is getting brighter. I

want to tell the Bethlehemist church today, for the child

of the light, it is not getting darker.

It is getting brighter.

It was getting brighter for Isaiah, the son of Amos,

the prophet.

Oh, yes, it was.

The darker it got, the clearer it was for him.

The darker and dimmed the eyes were for the nation

of Israel. It seemed like the more his eyes were

opened and the more that was revealed to him.

Somebody said, well, I'm.

Concerned about living in these perilous times. I want you

to know that the Holy Ghost was dispatched from the

portals of glory through the Spirit of Jesus Christ that

was upon Esther in her dark time.

Through the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

It was upon Isaiah in his dark days, through the

Spirit of Jesus Christ. It was upon John the Baptist

when men sat upon their eaves in Zion and lived

in darkness. Jesus appeared on the scene. I want you

to know today, as long as I've got the gospel light,

and as long as I'm walking in the gospel.

Light, I'm not at all worried. about getting lost in

the darkness.

I'm not worried about the shadow of death. As long

as this heavenly sunbeam is shining upon me and my path.

I want you to know.

Today your only hope is through the word of God.

Of God. The psalmist figured it out.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a

light unto my path. I wish the children of Isaiah's

generation and the people of the nation of Israel in

the days of Isaiah Wouldn't listen to what the divinely

inspired man of God was saying about the Assyrian army

that was coming. You see, God had pulled. God had

illuminated the mind. And the preaching of the oracle. The

oracle could see through the darkness. The oracle could see

through the idolatry. The oracle could see through the corruption

and say on the other side of this is the

wrath judgment of God. Prepare to face the wrath judgment

of God. That the people of God in the promised

land that they inhabited did not want to hear it.

Somebody chose to knock out the light. Somebody chose to

put out the light. Somebody chose to snuff out the light.

And sister, how before long this nation finds themselves getting

into a darkness that could be felt. For those who

dared listen to the man of God, the prophet Isaiah

was preaching a message that they did not.

Desire to hear.

How many today want to hear the unadulterated, undiluted, non-polluted

word of God?

Not many. There are few and far between anymore.

You see, the message of the prophet Isaiah was one

of warning and one of illumination. In other words, it

was one of light. And in him was life and light.

How many of you know he came as the light?

It was said of John the Baptist in that dark period,

which I believe was the darkest period of humanity. Jesus

always goes to extremes, and Jesus never neglects to work

in extreme cases and extreme situations. I believe it was

the darkest period of potential salvation that members of society

and civilization in the world would ever know. I feel

like the timeliness of the virgin birth was exactly what

God had planned. Brother Gabriel, there'll be some that'll say

it was so wicked in my generation that I could

not find the light. No, the light's been at our fingertips.

It's been readily available. There's never been a generation that

had more written copies of the King James Version Bible

on the dollar store shelves than this generation. I'm telling you,

the Lord is within.

Reach, and the Lord is reaching at us.

Even this morning light is trying to shine in the darkness.

It was set up, John the Baptist, during that dark age,

during that darkest time of humanity, that men are set

in darkness by Bible said he was.

A burning and a shining light.

This means that the oracle of God or the announcer.

How many of you have ever listened to a radio broadcast?

You've heard that announcer with that great powerful voice. They

call it the chops or they call it the pipes.

Just the way they speak the makes you want to

listen to them. I can't listen to some preachers very

long because of the way they sound. And then there's

other people you can listen to all day long because

of how they sound.

Are you listening to me?

Sometimes a preaching doesn't even have to be good. You

just like the sound of it. Well, in the wilderness,

here's a locust chomping, a locust dipping preacher with that

voice of an announcer saying.

Hear ye, hear ye.

Behold, my first cousin comes. Jesus is coming. And one

day the announcer says he's here.

He's here.

Behold, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin

of the world. Every generation, past, present, and future. The

light has come. I said the light has come. That

little star that stopped over that little town of Bethlehem.

The light himself has descended from the celestial beings unto

us earthlings. He is here. The light has come. And

John himself was a burning and a shining light.

He was a trailblazer.

I said he was a trailblazer as the forerunner. You

can have all the trailblazing and the lighted paths that

John the Baptist and Isaiah the prophet and all of

these oracles can provide. Brother Nathaniel Howell can provide a

well-lighted path.

A well-lighted path.

I saw when Brother Phillip proposed to Sister Elizabeth on

the front steps of that mansion in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Brother Phillip wanted to propose to her in the darkness

and And I can tell you that darkness was uncomely

for that situation. I think most of the Howell boys

proposed in the darkness, but they did it by candlelight.

I said, but they did it by candlelight.

And I watched as Brother Phillip prepared to propose to

Sister Elizabeth. In fact, he started vacation today. I guess

he'll be here tonight.

I'm not sure.

But I'm glad that man of God's getting away for

a week or two. Praise the Lord for that, and

I'm glad he's in the house of God today. But

I saw him put little battery-powered faux or fake anti-candles.

Amen. Hey, it was safe. It wasn't going to burn Elizabeth.

It wasn't going to burn him, but I watched him

light that path going up to that front door.

And he literally laid out the red carpet.

Sometimes I stumble across the pictorial memory of that event,

Brother Jesse, and I realize he didn't leave her in

the dark. He didn't leave her wondering whether or not

He wanted her to be his bride. He didn't leave

her guessing in the dark. He made it clear. In fact,

the darkness was coming to all of us. I was

down the road eating at Novus Nellie's. Sister Hal and

I was walking through the darkness of a parking lot.

I guess while that proposal was going on, though, he

said when Sister Elizabeth pulled up with him into that

parking area, said she went to crying immediately. She knew

what was coming because the light was shining on the situation.

And I want you to know here with the prophet Isaiah.

The fact that a man of God stood up, the

fact that the man of God said, I've been saying

I'm unworthy. I've been saying I'm unclean. I've been saying,

who am I? I've been saying, oh God, here I am.

Send me, but I don't feel like I've got the

words for my people.

I don't feel like I'm significant enough.

I don't feel like my words will satisfy thee. So

did Moses feel the same way when God appointed him

as the oracle over the nation of Israel. In the

earlier years, God told Moses, who has made man's mouth?

Who makes that one that's weak? Who makes the dumb

or the deaf or the seeing or the blind? God said,

have not I the Lord? Now therefore go and I

will be with thy mouth and I will teach thee

what thou shalt say.

You know what I'm talking about.

Sometimes you just be faithful and you go to church

and suddenly somebody turns the light on.

And you realize My feet had almost slipped.

I'd almost taken a bad step.

Oh, thank God for the light.

I said, oh, thank God for the light of life.

Immediately, the appearance of the light let those that sit

in darkness know there's hope there. Immediately, the appearance of

a lighted path let Sister Elizabeth know there is hope

in a relationship after all. I believe it's in 2

Corinthians chapter number 6 and verse number 14.

Where it speaks of our relationships.

Preaching in Kentucky recently, I reminded the young people during

that camp meeting and that night service, I said, the

Bible said, be careful who your pulling partner is. And

I tried to shed some light. Oh, what the Word

of God says from front to back. In 2 Corinthians

chapter number 6 and verse number 14, it says, Be

not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.

Now, I love this.

Right off the bat, Brother Gabriel Valentine, it says, For

what fellowship hath light with darkness?

What fellowship hath light with darkness?

Let me say something a little humorous just for a

second here. Why is it that light and darkness cannot

have a relationship? I'll tell you why. Because darkness is

always a bit shady. Darkness is always a bit shady.

I don't know about y'all, but I don't want to

be in a relationship with somebody that's a bit shady.

Or this generation would put it, somebody that's a bit

sketch or sketchy.

Come on now.

I'm telling you, we know what we need to do.

I said we know where the lighted path is. The

gate to the lighted path is It's the gospel. I

could preach right now on the gate of the gospel,

on the gospel gate. Oh, thank God for the lighted

path of the gospel.

Oh, thank God for the gate of the gospel.

Missionary dating is such a dangerous thing. Missionary dating is

such a dangerous thing. Well, I'm going to date them,

and then eventually I'm going to marry them, and eventually

I'm going to win them to Christ. So said Sister

Hal's grandmother. And eventually he pulled her into darkness. I said,

and eventually he pulled her right out of church. My dear,

dear great uncle, which is her actual great uncle biologically,

he stood up there, Uncle Truby said, he said, Jeremy,

he said, Charity's grandma said, Sitting in my daddy's holiness

church with them other 10 or 12 kids. And she

was such a sweet soul. He said, that young man

visited our church. And he transformed himself as an angel

of light. He got interested in the Bible. Knew how

to tuck that King James Version Bible under the arm.

He got interested in standing up respectfully and even mouthing

a few hymns. And said, my old daddy, Logan Martin said, honey,

you better be careful. Honey, you better be careful. He

is a prince of darkness. Honey, you better be careful.

He's not a child of light. You're about to get

in a fellowship between light and darkness and something's going

to happen. He said one service, them two took hands

and walked right out of the church. He said, a

week later, I guess they'd been on their honeymoon, they

come to the house. And I said, old brother Martin,

that legendary missionary and pastor, walked to the front door

and told the young man, said, you better be glad

I'm saved.

I'm sanctified and Holy Ghost filled.

He said, because if I hadn't and you had the

audacity to walk on my front porch, he said, I'd

have blown you in half with a shotgun. He said,

you're about 30 years late from getting blown in half

by a shotgun.

I thank God that the preacher had found the light.

But I'm going to tell you, the daughter walked away

from the light and found herself on a pathway that

led to darkness. It wasn't long after that she got widowed.

At the Battle of the Bulge, her new husband stood up.

Whenever the general and the sergeant said, get down, he

didn't follow orders. He didn't follow the light of the ordnance.

He didn't follow the light of those that could see

beyond the boundary lines.

Come on.

And they said, Uncle Truby said, when everybody else hit

the deck and hit the sand, said at the Battle

of the Bulge, he stood up like a hero. He said,

I will never forget watching him get mowed down. My

childhood friend, that one that come into church and fame.

Religion to get my sister.

He said, my buddy got gunned down because of stubbornness

and rebellion. And you don't think it wouldn't happen to us?

That's what this prophet Isaiah was saying.

Oh, people of God.

Inhabitants of the promised land do you not think the

Assyrians will come after you they will judgment must begin

at the house of the Lord and you know what

if the preacher's standing at the threshold and the very

fact that he's sweating and the very fact that he's

preaching the very fact that he's proclaiming hope and turning

from sin it ought to be something you get a

hold of and embrace the light of the truth amen.

Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.

Amen. There are some that don't have the light. I

thought about this today. Blind people don't have the light

of the eye. But blind people live in darkness. Blind

people live in darkness. I was blessed to pastor a

blind man for about seven years.

And I can tell you when I.

Watched his widow now, his caretaker then, bring him in

and out of the sanctuary, a man that had been

able to see for probably 55 years. When I watched

a man that had been able to see for 55

years get used to living in the dark, it was

an unnerving situation. It was not calming or soothing at all.

I realized every last one of us could be like Samson.

We too could lose our vision. We too could lose

our sight. I want to ask you what's worse than

a natural blind man is a spiritual blind man. The

Bible said that the blind... would follow blind leaders. And

if the blind followed the blind, they'd end up in

the ditch. I don't want to live in the ditch.

I don't want to find myself in the ditch. In

Bible days, it was literally a cesspool. I don't want

to be in the ditch. But I want to tell

you that natural blind men, they can live in the

light of darkness if you would. Brother Nathaniel, they can

live without sight. Samson lived without sight. But I'll tell

you what a man can't hardly do. A man cannot

live in the absence of sunlight. A man cannot live

in the absence of sunlight very long. Brother Jesse, if

they're not given oranges, they become vitamin C deficient. Because

of a lack of sunlight, they're vitamin D deficient. And

they develop rickets. And they develop other things, Sister Howell.

And pretty soon, because that circadian rhythmic situation.

That God put in our body.

You know, it's the day and night situation where the

circadian rhythm tells you it's bedtime because the sun went down.

It tells you it is daytime because the sun went up.

Oh, come on now.

I feel like there's a spiritual generation that is not

paying attention to the circadian rhythm of the Son of God.

There's a reason why at times he rises up as

the light in our life.

And he says, wake up, sleeper. Wake up, child of

the light. Wake up, child of the day. The Syrians

are coming. The Philistines are here, Samson. Wake up, somebody.

Wake up. Amen. I know it's Sunday morning and some

of you aren't woke up good. That's okay. I understand.

You don't even have to say amen. But what I

do want to do is preach to you what does

sayeth God. I thank God for the light of life.

Brother Nathaniel, I was getting ready to preach this message

and I remembered a song you just recently wrote, A

Father of Light. I said there's no doubt God's speaking

to this people about light.

I had not thought about his song he wrote.

And now I'm even thinking about some of the lyrics

in that song right now. Oh, you know what's the

opposite of the Father of Light? Would be the Father

of Darkness. The Lord of the Flies. bells above himself,

the prince of darkness. You can have the prince of

peace or the prince of light or the prince of

chaos and the prince of darkness. That's what Isaiah was

telling the Assyrians are coming.

You don't see it, but I see it. You don't

hear it, but I hear it.

I'm telling somebody, don't you walk out of the light.

into the darkness. You stay away from the shadow of death.

I know you can fear no evil because God's with you.

If you walked in the shadow of death long enough,

you'll be in the valley of darkness.

I said you walk in the shadow.

Of death long enough, you'll live in the valley of darkness.

I'll tell you what happens to those that live in

the darkness. They get put in solitary confinement without any mercy.

Brother Rocap, those that aren't even permitted to have a

little beam of sunlight. Those that aren't permitted to have

a little ray of light coming through two or three

iron bars.

You know what they do? They go crazy.

That darkness and that vitamin C and vitamin D deficiency

and that circadian rhythm being off, pretty soon, Brother Jesse,

they've lost the track of sleep.

What's daytime? What's nighttime?

What's sleep time? What's awake time? And their body's out

and they get exhausted. I need the Holy Ghost to

help me right here. Just follow in the leading of

the Lord. And pretty soon they're dealing with anxiety and

they're dealing with depression.

And then what follows? They go mad. and then they

lose their mind. Do you know that?

There's been people put away in dungeons down there away

from sunlight, and 20 years later, after being just tossed

a little water and a little bread, just enough to

enhance their torment, just enough to make them live a

little longer. It's just how them people don't even know,

just push it back. just pray and they just sit

there and let themselves suffer longer and longer and longer

and finally somebody opens the prison house expecting to find

a normal individual and they're reduced to tears and rubbish

because mama is no longer mama she's a mad woman

because Papa is no longer Papa.

He's a madman.

I'm telling you, you go without the light of the

gospel very long, you will be a spiritual mad person.

I said you'll be a spiritual mad person. What happened

to Solomon? What possessed him to make temples and shrines

to Baal, Ashtoreth, and other pagan gods? What possessed Solomon Baal?

What possessed Solomon to do that? Let that sink in.

What if Brother Howell tomorrow, God forbid Sister Wooten, but

what if Brother Howell tomorrow said, Brother Nathaniel and Brother Jesse,

start scratching the ground across the street.

We're going to build. We're going to build a temple

to build.

Now the holiness movement and the coconut wireless, they know

within 24 hours Pastor Howells done fell off his rocker

and bumped his head. I'd be the talk of the

movement and the talk of the town. Hey, what fellowship

hath light but darkness? Jeremy Howe's preaching to the Bethel

Holiness Church on one side of Cornelia Drive, and he's

preaching over here at the temple and offering sacrifice. What

kind of sacrifices was being offered to them gods and

goddesses of them temples?

Solomon went in there. He paid obeisance.

He stood respectfully in their so-called houses of worship. How

filthy and disgusting is that to think that a man

so gifted by God would stand there in that filth?

You know what happened?

Just like Samson, slowly but surely, his lot was put out.

If you can see the truth, you walk in the truth.

If you see a sunbeam, you follow the sunbeam. You

know a way to get out of a spiritual cavern.

You know the way to get out of despair. You

know the way to get out of a cave. You

know the way to get out of darkness.

Follow the light.

I said follow the light. I'm telling somebody, you better

not forget what the light source is.

It's Jesus.

Wonderful.

Counselor.

Mighty God. Prince of Peace. Should I keep preaching or

should we go to the chicken house? You see, Isaiah

shed some light on the plans of the enemy, and

that's what I'm trying to do today. I'm trying to

shed some light on the plans of the enemy. They

walk out of a church that preaches sound doctrine, and

they go into a halfway house.

And you know what?

Nobody cares to shed the light on the plans of

the enemy. But Isaiah, he warned them. He told them

the Assyrians are coming into the land of promise. He

sounded the alarm, Brother Nathaniel. He directed their attention. He

told the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali. He said, they're coming.

I said, the enemy of darkness is coming. The man

of God had to speak the truth. He couldn't lie

to them. The Bible said, you speak the truth in love.

I love you. I don't want to lie to you.

In summary, he tells them if they don't turn away

from their sin, it's about to get rough for them.

He's basically saying it's going to get darker, darker, and darker.

And then when he gets done preaching, he preaches hope.

And the hope that he preaches is in Jesus Christ.

If you'll follow on down and look at the latter

verse of our text in that grouping, you'll see he's

preaching the hope of Jesus Christ. But Brother Nathaniel, if

they don't turn to the light, they are facing the

wrath of God. They're facing judgment and then wrath, and

the result will be torment and suffering. I said the

result will be torment and suffering. Brother Tyler Root sings

a song about walking in his light, that beautiful light.

Isaiah says it's going to get darker around here. It's

going to get more depressing. It's going to feel more

dreary in the land of promise. In the land of promise,

that means you could go to church and feel depressed.

You should never feel depressed as the preacher sheds the light.

You should never feel depressed as the light spreads its

rays through our church, as it offers revelation, as it

offers clarification.

You know why some people leave churches?

They leave churches because men sit in darkness and they

love light. It doesn't matter how great the revelatory power

that light is. It doesn't matter how great the illumination is.

Men sit in darkness because they love darkness. It said

right here to sit in darkness. They'll sit in darkness.

You know why the bar rooms are dark? Men like

it to be dark.

You know why?

Because there's no revelation in darkness. The Bible said, know

them that labor among you. You know why nobody wants

to know them that labor among them anymore? They do

it this way. They say, we're not going to gossip.

We're not going to talk. I wish your employer felt

that same way about it. You know there was a

generation up until about 10 years ago that would not

do background reports? There's a situation in corporate America where

a man came in and he shot up the place.

I forget the number of the victims, the casualties, the cost.

It was just tremendous. The chaos that ensued is tremendous,

Brother Jesse. And the HR director said, we should have

did a background report.

No, really? Because that background report would.

Have included the actions of that employee for other employers

in other states. Hey, thank God every time Brother Nathaniel

and I apply for a passport as missionaries, they do

a background check and background report.

How about you employers over here? Do y'all do a

background check? Do you?

You know, sometimes you'll do that background check and the

HR director won't really tell you why they threw that

application in a job. It's because Brother Caleb Brokamp can

tell you he deals with people on a daily basis

that have dark pasts. Dark pasts. Dark paths and dark paths.

Brother Caleb said, you know what was in that background report?

You know what was revealed?

He knifed a co-worker about 15 years ago. And then

about nine years ago, he punched one. He spent time

in jail, even five to six years, for battery and

assault and attempted murder.

Ten years.

And then they come down here to Florida. They go

to Tennessee. They go to North Carolina. They move out

to Washington. And they move to South Carolina.

You know what?

So they can start over. But darkness follows darkness. Their

dark thoughts go with them. Their dark path becomes even darker.

And they do the ungodly thing that's been in their

heart to do. And somebody said, if only somebody would have.

Shed the light. If only the HR director would have

shed the light.

If only somebody would have brought a flashlight to this situation.

Hey, that's what I'm trying to do today.

I'm trying to tell you every person that leaves the church,

they're not leaping in accordance with the will of God.

There's some people just running from the light. I said

there's some people running.

From the light.

I thank God for the light of life. It preserves

our babies. It preserves our children. I'm thankful for every

time the light has revealed. I'm thankful for every time,

Sister Ruth, the light has come on and run the

devil off. I said the devil ain't here today because

the devil is.

Running from the truth.

The devil.

It's running from the light.

We've seen it for years. We've preached him to the light.

We've spoken the light of the gospel. We've handed him

the lamp of life. Hey, but you know what? They're

not here. It's not a failure on the oracle. It's

not a lack of preaching by Brother Nathaniel. It is

running from the light. I said it is running from

the light. Preacher's getting a little too close to where

I'm living. Brother Nathaniel gave that message in tongues and interpretation.

I'm afraid of what he's going to preach about the

next time he preaches. Hey, I don't know about y'all,

but shroud.

Me in light, God.

Shroud me. I don't want the sable robe of death

upon me. I don't want the black robe of death

upon me. Shroud me in thy light. Endure me with

thy power. That powerful light. That glorious light. That beautiful light.

Let me not be transformed. Let me be new. In

newness of life and light. The devil himself transforms himself

as an angel of light. That's the wolf that comes

in in sheep's clothing. It's somebody that has a history.

Of doing something. And then they feign themselves to be genuine.

You all have seen it. They have a history of

child abuse. They have a history of some shady something

in the background. And then 20 years later, they feign salvation.

You elder saints, about 40 years of age and older,

you know what I'm talking about. We've been around a

block of time or two, and we've seen the ways

of the wolf. You could preach that, the wiles of

the wolf, the ways of the wolf. We have seen it, brother.

And they'll come in just like Sister Howell's grandfather did,

the grandmother.

And they'll kneel down, Sister Wooten.

And before you know it, some preacher that's not in

the light. He's not like Brother Nathaniel. Some preacher in

the darkness. His eyes are wide shut. He's a blind leader.

He makes him a youth pastor. Hey, it's only been

five months that God got jailbird religion for child abuse,

and he's a youth pastor. And then six years later,

you find out the entire youth group has been his victim.

Hey, you know why?

Because somebody didn't shine the light.

You let a church get spiritual, and you let the

gifts be manifested. I think it was this past Wednesday night,

seeing a dear sister rooting, praying for a dear sister.

The Holy Ghost got on Sister Rudin and she started

prophesying and speaking in tongues. And she said, listen to

the word of the prophet here. Listen to the preacher here.

Listen to what the Spirit of God is saying here.

Listen to the word of God. And Sister Ruth said,

follow not another. Follow not another verse and voice. Follow

not another verse. Yeah, follow not another voice. Follow not

another voice. Are y'all listening to me? Listen not to

another voice. There are many voices speaking in the world.

But I need the voice that speaks from the light.

Because he is the light. The apostle Paul can tell

you that. There was a light that appeared.

Oh, come on now. It was from the glory world.

It was from the throne of the Father.

And from standing next to the throne of God, Jesus

spoke a bright light shining upon the situation and said, Paul.

Paul, it's hard for you to kick against the bricks.

Apostle Paul never forgot a meeting place in the light.

I said Apostle Paul never forgot the meeting place under

the illumination of the light. I don't know about y'all,

but I love coming.

To a meeting place where.

The light is shining.

I love the light.

I love the light.

Thank God for every holiness preacher.

Thank God for every holiness seller. Thank God for every

holiness teacher.

I thank God for the light.

I heard Brother Kenny Henson, and I say, Brother, just

to give him the benefit of the doubt, just to

give him the benefit of the doubt, in case he

listens to this message one day, I doubt he will.

But in case he does, I'll tell you this. Out

of respect to the man, he wrote one of my

favorite songs. And I'll give credit and honor where it's due.

I thank God for the lighthouse. I thank God for

the lighthouse. And Sister Wooten, if there's ever been a

time that Kenny or Jeremy or Aaron or Justin or

Jesse or Christian or Buford has erred, I thank God

for the lighthouse. Every time it swings, that beam in

my path. And I say, Nathaniel, we're guiding this church

to safety. We're trying to take them to the haven

of rest. I say, Nathaniel, did you see it? He said, no, sir.

I said, watch one more revolution. And here it comes. Hey,

another week. There it comes.

Nathaniel, over here is the craggy rocks. Over here is

the dunes. Over here is the sandbars. Brother Jesse, navigate us.

Get out there at the front, Brother Jesse, and look

at the channel. Brother Phillip, you get the right side.

and you look at that side of the canal, and

you holler every time the light comes by whether or

not we're on course. I'll tell you what this Word

of God does. It keeps us on course. I said

it keeps us on course. I heard old brother Samuel

Howe preaching to us. Man, the pressure and the strain

on him Friday night. Two co-workers he'd been working with

five or six years now finally came to church. I

could tell that young brother was under the stress. I'm

telling you what, the pressure. But he'd done a wonderful job.

He delivered the message. One of them young men came

to him the next day at work and said, Boss man,

I just want you to know I respect you all

the more. And the other one said, Sister Wooten, you

know what he said? He said, that's my home church. Hey,

he said, I only get to come once a month,

but that's my home church.

I said, praise the Lord. There's one more revolution fixing

to come. Praise God. Thank God. Amen. But you know what?

Thank God I'm not just waiting anymore for one revolution

for my path.

I live in the light. I walk in the light.

Hey, thank God. The Word of God is a well-lighted pathway. Hey,

thank God I'm not wondering in doubt anymore. Thank God

I'm not staggering and stumbling in confusion anymore. Oh, I

thank God for the path of light. One dear brother

from Tennessee messaged me, and he's probably listening right now,

and I won't give his name, but he messaged me

Wednesday night. It might have been Thursday morning. He said,

Pastor Howe, Would you come to Tennessee and preach? He said,

I'll trade you a deer hunt for some good holiness preaching.

I said, listen, brother. Listen, I don't have to go

deer hunting. You need good holiness preaching. I'll just come

stay with you. I said, when do you want me

to come? When do you need me? He said, you

come anytime. The bed's made. He said, I mean that.

You come anytime. Brother Rocap, there's people out there that

won't delight.

There might be some running from it. Oh, God.

There might be some running from it. I've never walked

in a saloon, and I don't want to ever know

what that's about. Brother Thomas Starrett is right now on

a mission sent by God, preaching on Fowler Street, I

believe it is, in Fort Myers, the Church of the Brewery,

where we're flexible enough and strong enough to be flexible.

where we're elastic enough to be flexible and strong enough

to be flexible, the Church of the Brewery. It looks

like a little cottage country church in the Shenandoah Valley

of Virginia. It looks like a little church maybe somewhere

in the mountains of Tennessee. And they are here right

now in this very moment. They are boozing it up.

and drinking while having devotion. And Brother Thomas Starrett didn't

know what I was going to be preaching on, but

he told me this morning, he said, Pastor, I can't

shake it. He said there's pictures of their church with

little girls and little boys looking at them as they

indulge in the brew. Said little innocent little girls Rebecca's

age watching them guzzlers guzzle down brew, fresh brew, the

devil's brew. Getting intoxicated while hearing devotions. He said, I

have been shook to my core to stand outside that

church and to be a light. and to preach the

light and to tell them young people this is not

a house of God. I'll tell you what it is

by the time I stare. It's a house of darkness.

I said it's a house of darkness. It is a

house of darkness. There's no such thing as a church

like that. They can label it and they can call

it all they want to. They can call darkness light,

but it's still darkness. They can call sour sweet, but

it's still sour. Should I keep preaching or should we

go to the chicken house? The Bible said, we'll skip

on over to this. In verse number 6, it sheds

a ray of light on the source of light himself.

For unto us a child is born. The little light

appeared in the eastern sky, settled over the little town

of Bethlehem. Verse number 8 says, the Lord sent a

word into Jacob and it hath lighted upon Israel. Brother Jeremiah,

I've been thinking of the perimeter lighting found on the

perimeter fence of a prison. When darkness sets in, the

watchman on the wall doesn't hesitate to use the light.

The light provides nighttime visibility, and it enhances security for

the law-abiding people working inside of the compound. I said

I thank God for the light. I thank God for

the truth when it's preached. If you run from the truth,

you are not a child of the light. And I

want you to know we've been here about 19 years.

And if we had everybody that had stayed with us

between six months and two years, we would be running

about 120 right now. But I have seen them run

from words of truth spoken by Sister Howell. I've seen

them run from words of truth spoken by Sister Wooten,

both of which spoke through words of love. I love

what Brother E.J. Wallace shared with me about a week ago.

He said he had a relative. I won't pinpoint what

this relative was, whether uncle, cousin, or what it was.

But he had a relative that just could not remain married.

And for whatever reason, just went from one companion to

the next. Brother EJ said after three or four attempts

at marriage, this particular person's father, I believe it was,

spoke to them and said, listen, evidently you're not intended

for marriage. Evidently you're not supposed to be married because

every time it's an unsuccessful attempt.

And you know what?

I thought I will never forget that for as long

as I live. And when he told me that, I

thought I will use that. Hey, if time number one

didn't work, time number two doesn't work, time number three

doesn't work, time number four, the best thing for you

to do is stop thinking you're meant for marriage. And

I'm going to tell the Howell boys that right now.

Amen.

I heard of some people recently leaving a church because

of just a bunch of that going on. That's a

good reason. That's a church platform being overcome by darkness.

Somebody mentioned to me recently, said, do you know what's

going on within our movement? I'm not against our movement.

I said, to be honest with you, I'm so focused

in South Florida, I'm kind of out of touch.

Hey, listen to this. This is funny. It's comical. I'm

in the dark.

I'm in the dark concerning that gossip.

And I said, well, it's a trend now.

It doesn't matter if you're in adultery, double marriage, triple marriage,

quadruple marriage for the most part. The ministers don't want

to ask any questions. They don't want to get in

anybody's private matters. They don't want to get in anybody's business.

They don't want to ask any questions, and we've got

to infiltrate in our platform to get behind our pulpits. Well,

I'll tell you this. Everybody can live in the dark

all they want to. Everybody can turn a blind eye

to what the Word of God says all they want

to because everybody's doing it don't mean we've got to

do it because everybody's stumbling around in the dark doesn't mean.

We have to. Hey, when I walk into KFC today....

Brother Nathaniel probably won't be with me today. He'll probably

be with his in-laws.

That's wonderful.

I'm glad to have them here this weekend. They're precious people.

But you know what? When I walk into KFC today, brother,

I won't be walking in the dark. I won't be

walking in there with a guilty conscience. You heard about

what's going on? No, I ain't heard about what's going on.

But have you heard about what's going on for the

children of light? Isaiah is saying a child is born.

Amen. Amen.

And Matthew, Levi, who had been sitting at the receipt

of custom, said, you know what? Let me record that.

The prophet Isaiah, what he preached about, Zebulun and Naphtali,

they got hope.

The child is born. Mr. Wonderful's here.

Somebody told me there's a reality TV star that calls

himself Mr.

Wonderful. That's blasphemous. But let me tell you who Mr.

Wonderful is. Jesus. Let me tell you who Mr. Wonderful is.

Prince of Peace. Amen.

Thank God I'm not sitting in the darkness today. Thank

God I'm not running in the darkness today. You know

what happens in the darkness? Do you know what happens

in the darkness? Horrible things happen under the cover of darkness.

I've got to let you good people go. I'm being signaled.

It's about at an hour. Thank you, Brother Jeremiah.

I don't want to hold you too long. I got

my sound man back there giving me the nod. The

Lord sent a word, and it has lighted upon Israel.

I don't know about y'all, but this chandelier Brother Samuel

Howell bought for the church is pretty. I need that light.

I need that light. I need that light. I don't

like it being dark in my house. Well, it's hot

in here.

The AC can't keep up. That's fine.

Keep the light on. Sister, how about a lot? Because

I was stumbling down them steps getting older. I refused

to wake up holy in the middle of the night

when I need to go from point A to point B.

If I need to go from the bed to the fridge,

back to the bed, back to the fridge, I'd sometimes

just kind of half-heartedly, you know, wake up and I.

Fell down the steps. She heard a poof in the

room where I was. She hollered. She said, y'all riding there?

I said, sure.

It don't sound like it. And then she comes tumbling

in there herself. And she said, what you doing down there?

I said, what do you think? I just fell down

the step.

Praise God.

A guy my age can't be doing that, you know,

very much. So she went to the dollar store, Sister Rebecca,

and she bought a little light. She put it right

there at Papa's stairway. When Papa steps on that first step,

it's lighted. When Papa steps on the top step, we

go down, Sister Wooten.

It lights up.

I thank God for the light. I thank God for

Brother Ethan, Brother Thomas, Brother Samuel Sterrett, Brother Samuel Howell,

Brother Jesse, Brother Nathaniel. One of our best revivals we've

ever had was that one. Brother Jesse and Brother Nathaniel

was preaching a couple months ago. Brother Wood, Brother Roadcap,

Brother Phillip. I thank God for Brother Caleb. I thank

God for another Brother Howell I thank God for another brother,

Roe Cap. I thank God for Brother Henson. Every time, listen,

that shadow of despair and doubt, depression, I felt it.

I hope everybody that needed to hear it's here. It

ain't that the light ain't shining. It's just you need

to make room for the glorious light.

Amen. Praise the Lord.

Let's let this fire simmer just a little bit here.

God's people shouldn't be found walking in the darkness. The

purpose of the perimeter light is to control the ingress

and egress of a potential intruder or escapee. That's what

came to me this morning. The purpose of that prison

guard's perimeter light is to control the ingress and egress

of an escapee or an intruder. Sister Howell stood up

here flat-footedly over the years, and she said things that

apparently sent people running. And when I analyze and think

about what was said, I think it's nothing but the truth.

It's not offensive, Sister Wooten's words of, don't you listen

to another voice. We had a pastor of Omega Church

that listens to all of our broadcasts. He came here.

Sister Wooten prayed over him. We prayed. God spoke through

Sister Wooten. She told him. She said, there's been another

voice speaking. She said, don't listen to him. Don't listen

to him. You listen to my voice. You listen to

my word. I'm telling you, Brother Jesse, if you don't

walk in the path of the light, you're walking in

a path with no light. Years ago, somebody thought they

had really discovered something, and they said, you know, darkness

is the absent of light. And they got excited, and

they got worked up about that. Brother Bill Houston come

to church. He said, I think you're an intellect. He said,

I think you can understand what I've done. And he

redlined that entire story about this professor teaching these people

that darkness is absent of light. And when I got

done reading it, I thought, Bill Houston, you are brilliant.

And he said, concerning Jesus, it doesn't matter whether there's

a sun or not. It doesn't matter if there's a

planet reflecting the light or not. It doesn't matter if

there's a solar system or not. He is the light.

And he is the life. And no man will come

to the Father but by the light and the life,

but by him. Folks, it wasn't the land of Philistine

that the light appeared. It was in the land of Bethlehem. Isaiah.

Isaiah.

Stood flat-footed and preached.

It is time that we as the people of God

who claim to have inherited the spiritual promised land, we

acknowledge that we need the Prince of Life to speak

through his oracle in the local assembly. The only hope

this country has is if we can once again find

confidence in the oracles of light. They had no confidence

in the oracle of light. No respect for the preachers.

No respect for the light. No respect for the words

of the preacher. Thank you for praying for me, Brother Nathaniel.

I feel it.

It said, upon them hath the light shined. Upon those

who couldn't see well. Upon those who had experienced stumbling

over stumbling blocks. And those who had pitfalls. A great

thing had taken place. The light had come on. Brother Philip,

the light had come on. We've heard of the song

and the expression, I saw the light. Brother Jacob Dampier

had a father named Brother Roy Dampier that attended our church.

Brother Roy Dampier said when his mother got saved, and

not everybody can expect this, but a bright light shone

through her bedroom window. And he said that his mother said, Roy,

when you get saved, keep following the light. Roy, When

you finally surrender to God, keep following the light. And

he said one time in the middle of raising all

them kids after having a little argument with his wife,

he said he went in the back room. Sister, you

remember old brother Roy? He admitted that he had kind

of a shady past. He admitted that he had been

kind of a brawler. He admitted that he hadn't had

the sweetest demeanor or disposition at times. He admitted that

him and his wife had fought like cats and dogs.

But he said when he found himself in that time

of despair and total darkness, as supposedly a child of God,

he found himself in darkness and despair. Brother Jesse, he

said he knelt there. And after years of going to church,

he said, God, I know this is a far stretch.

But my mommy has been telling me for years. She's

done gone now. She told me for years, follow the light.

And he said he broke down and cried. Brother Jesse.

And he said, crying, he said, I need to see

the light. And he said, as sure as I'm living,

Brother Jeremy, a light shone in through that window and

illuminated my face. He said, God began a beautiful work

in my life and changed me. In the last 10

years of his life, he attended this church. And I

watched God do a beautiful thing in the life of

my friend who chose to start following the light. To

walk in the light. Brother Jeremiah Matthew 5 and 16 said.

Let your light. So shine before men. That's what I

want to do today. Jesus spake unto them.

And said.

I am the light of the world. He that followeth

me shall not walk in darkness. But shall have the light.

Of life. The dark church. The brew church. The brewery church.

The church.

Their slogan is this, the church for the rest of us.

Do you think that you could get so darkened in

your imagination and mind that you could attend such a church?

If you steer yourself out of the path of the light,

that darkness is strong enough to envelop you and pull

you into its womb. So I say this morning, as

we're standing and bowing our heads and closing our eyes,

I think we ought to thank God for the light,

the Lord of light, the Lord of life. I remember

hearing Sister Wooten when we first came down here 19

years ago. She said, I've prayed for a holiness church

for about 30 years. I've begged God. I've pled with

the Lord. Brother Hammond said the same thing. His wife,

Sister Hammond, said the same thing. Brother and Sister Platt

said the same thing. It's just a handful of people

that have been praying, about six. So we've been praying

for two or three decades, Brother Jesse, for light to

come down here. And I'll be honest with you. Preachers

messaged me when they heard I was down here. They prophesied.

They said, you're going to lose every member of your

family before your kids even get married. You're going to

lose every member of your family to the world. Said

it's so dark down there. It's so dark. I said

the only thing I can tell you is apparently I'm

following a lighted path because the will of God has

made itself revealed to me that it's his will that

I lead my family to South Florida. Brother Jesse, I'm

here to say today with love in my heart their

prophecies were false. I saw my sons marry good holiness

women from solid holiness churches. I give God the praise

and honor and the glory. We couldn't find it ourself,

but God found it. I'll say it again. Their prophecies

were wrong. Their prophecies were those of darkness. But the

prophecies of Isaiah and John were prophecies of truth. I

said they were prophecies of truth. Today, as your head

is bowed and your eyes are closed, is there somebody

that would come to the altar and say, Lord, I

want to acknowledge the truth in my life. You've been

here at Bethel. for a while now. God, I want

to just thank you for the light that I've received.

I must admit there's been shadows in my life at times.

There's two or three great, great children of God coming

to the altar today. I'm not surprised because I'll tell

you this message preached to me first. When God began

to deal with me, I wept and cried and said, Lord,

I thank you for your light.

Looks like there's.

About seven or eight maybe now that's gathering around. I

want you to spend a little time and just thank

him for the light of the word.

The light of love. The light of truth. Oh, God.

We're not going to hide our light. We're not going

to put it under a bushel. We're going to let

it shine. Hey, God. Oracles, seers, preachers, teachers, elders, saints

of God, let your light shine. Don't lose your testimony.

Don't lose your light. I was in darkness, so aimlessly wondering,

but I saw the light. Thank God for that little

lighthouse church. I thank God for that beam of light.

I thank God for that message of truth that young

to his glorious light. I thank you for the light.

I'm glad I'm not deceived in darkness today. Some of

you wandered in darkness. Some of us aimlessly wandered in

darkness and despair, but.

He saved us. He found us there, brought us to light. Oh,
