Roadside Assistance - Pastor J.D. Howell 9-23-2026

Tonight just before this preaching and he said you have

to cry out for assistance and you have to cry

out for help you have to acknowledge your condition and

you have to plea unto the lord for assistance if

you're going to receive assistance if you're going to be

delivered he said here tonight I'm a delivered child of

God set free from the fetters because of the Father's assistance.

And I come tonight to preach on roadside assistance. And

blind Bartimaeus crying out saying, I need help.

I need assistance.

So I know tonight that we've got the message from

the Father for this wonderful group of people. You just

have to cry out and say, Lord, help me.

Help me.

That's what the mother cried out. Lord, I believe. Help

thou my unbelief. What she's saying is my belief is

not perfect belief. My faith is incomplete faith. Well, how

do you get a faith increase? By hearing the Word

of God. Brother Nathaniel, would you turn with me to

2 Timothy chapter number 4 and read verse number 11.

Brother Jesse, Luke chapter number 10, and you'll read verses

number 30 through 34. I wonder if Brother Jonathan and

Brother Samuel Howell could take this altar right here and

turn it 90 degrees and butt it right up to

that pew there where Brother Nathaniel is sitting. Let the

front of it be close to the platform. Take the

other altar, the men's altar. Turn it 90 degrees. Rotate

it 90 degrees. Put it up against the pew there

where Brother Aaron Wood is sitting. I want you to

picture a road.

A road.

How many of you want to keep it between the lines?

But sometimes, unfortunately, on the road of life, you find

yourself by the wayside, on the side of the road.

Has anybody ever been broke down on the side of

the road? I want to preach to you tonight, but

it'll only be as good As you respond, as Brother

Samuel exhorted and encouraged you before we even got into

the preaching, you must cry out for help.

Amen.

Brother Nathaniel, 2 Timothy chapter number 4, verse number 11,

my brother.

Only Luke is with me.

Take Mark and bring him with thee, for he is

profitable to me for the ministry. John Mark cried out

for help in his cousin or his uncle.

A family friend. Amen.

Barnabas, Barnabas, the son of consolation, Barnabas. I want to

be a Barnabas in somebody's life tonight. I want to

be a Barnabas in somebody's life tonight. Barnabas helped him,

and he became profitable unto Paul in the ministry. Brother Jesse,

Luke chapter number 10, verses number 30 through 34, brother.

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from

Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, which stripped him

of his raiment and wounded him and departed, leaving him

half dead. And by chance there came down a certain

priest that way, and when he saw him, he passed

by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when

he was at the place, came and looked on him

and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan,

as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he

saw him, he had compassion on him and went to

him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and

wine and set him on his own beast and brought

him to an inn and took care of him.

I want to be a good Samaritan to not help

somebody that's by the wayside. Let's stand for the reading

of our golden text, Mark chapter number 10, verses number

46 through 52. To every person that's hearing this message,

I am for you. I am here to help you.

The Bible says, And they came to Jericho, and as

he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a

great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus,

sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard

that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry

out and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy

on me. And many charged him that he should hold

his peace, but he cried the more great deal, thou

son of David, have mercy on me. Brother Samuel, he's saying,

I need help. Verse number 49, And Jesus stood still

and commanded him to be called. And they called the

blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise,

he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose

and came to Jesus. His plan was to get better.

Verse number 51, And Jesus answered and said unto him,

What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The

blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive

my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way,

thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received

his sight and followed Jesus in the way.

He's back on the road again. Let's pray.

Heavenly Father, we love and we praise you. We thank

you for the opportunity to be in your house tonight.

I thank you for the liberty that we felt tonight

as these men of God sang unto you. As the

youth choir, both men and women of God, sang unto you.

Thank you for the power of God that came in

this place and the anointing that destroys the yoke. Thank

you for that being present. We pray that you would

anoint our ears and my mouth, God. Help us to hear.

and to say what the Spirit of God would have

us to hear and say. We pray that these words

would saturate the spirit, heart, mind, soul, and body, and

go below the shoulders.

God, help us to hear and to heed.

And may we depart this place joyfully and not sorrowfully.

In Jesus' name, and the church said, Amen. Looking at

verse number 46 again after being seated, the Bible says,

And they came to Jericho, and as he went out

of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people,

blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway

side begging. Our text is found in a New Testament

book of the Holy Bible, the second book of the

New Testament, Mark.

St.

Mark's gospel is chock full of information that he would

have received from his dear mother's friends, the disciples, of

our Lord Savior Jesus Christ, most notably and most importantly,

the apostle Peter himself. The Bible students and the Bible

readers in this building tonight will recall a certain time

of Peter's imprisonment. This wonderful young man's mother, who was

also a wonderful individual, felt like throwing up a flag

and saying, over here, Lord, we need some help. We

know that our help cometh from the Lord and we

need your divine assistance. We need you to come to

our aid. Oh, heaven, please hear us while we pray.

And so she requested an assembling of the saints together

in her house. And while they were praying, The Bible

said the angel of the Lord moved into the prison

where Peter was being held, and a great deliverance was

wrought that day because of people that felt the importance

of gathering and sending up a flag and saying, here

we are, and crying out to the Lord and saying,

we are in need. I don't know about you all tonight,

but I'm familiar with trouble. The Bible said that man

that is born of women is a few days and

full of trouble. There's been plenty of times in brother

and sister Howell's life that we have knelt beside Sopa

and Rick Clyder and called upon the name of the Lord.

The Bible said, whosoever shall call upon the name of

the Lord shall be saved. It said the name of

the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into

it and are saved. Would you get the imagery with me?

that seemingly in a place that had no significance or

importance within Jerusalem or the Roman Empire, there are a

few saints of God that have gathered together. In his word,

he said, where two or three are gathered together in

my name, there am I in their midst. And sure enough,

They began to feel that they had continuity and connection

with the Lord. And God had not only heard their prayer,

but God was going to move in that situation. So

John Mark would have been an eyewitness to the power

of God and His ability to change situations. He is

a Romans 8, 28 God, the Apostle Paul said. We

know that all things work together to those that are

called by God, those that are called.

According to His purpose.

And don't you feel like if you were His child,

He called you into that adoption place? Don't you feel

like he's the author and the finisher of your faith?

I feel like he has no problem whatsoever with his

assignment for assistance in your life. Again, the Lord has

no problem whatsoever with being that fatherly figure and receiving

the assignment for assistance in So the Bible readers know

that John Mark had a good mother. He had a

good network. There were some God-fearing people in his circle.

So even though the author of this gospel seems to

be so very well versed concerning the life, and the

ministry of Jesus Christ, and even though he seems to

be so well studied concerning the teachings of Jesus Christ,

every Bible reader in this building tonight knows there were

some times when he encountered some bumps in in his

road of life, figuratively speaking. And may I say that

he experienced a ministry meltdown as a young preacher, a

result of surrendering to a strong desire and a moment

of passion to retreat from the mission field.

For a brief period of time, it.

Seems this young minister felt was unable to complete the

assignment or to complete the journey, one which he felt

like because of the ordination of the apostles there at

Jerusalem and because of the prayers that were prayed over him,

no doubt by his praying mother. He felt like he

was fully equipped. and ready for whatever life may hurl

his way. But we find it recorded in Scripture he

had some sort of breakdown.

On life's road, on this missionary journey.

He had some sort of breakdown, and he needed roadside assistance.

Perhaps at some point while traveling with the great men

of God, some of them which are the greatest men

of God to ever live upon this planet.

While traveling in the company of the great man.

Of God, the apostle Paul, and his relative Barnabas, he

developed a mindset that he did not measure up and

he could not finish what he had started.

But Barnabas believed in him.

How many of you know that what God began in.

You, he is able to finish it?

I've seen a lot of people believe Come to a

time in their life when the road of life led

them to and through the potter's house. And I've seen

some be taken up and put upon the potter's wheel.

And Brother Nathaniel, after the process, some are set aside

as a vessel for the finer work. Suitable for the

master's use while others are not so ready to be

molded and to be shaped into that person that God

would have them to be that would make them what

they need to be for his use.

How many of you want to be meet for the

master's use?

That was the purpose of Adam's wife Eve, that she

would be significant and help comfort him and resolve his loneliness, yes.

But we know also that this woman was to be

suitable for his.

Needs in life.

And we know that the Apostle Paul looked upon this

young minister, John Mark, and saw him as a fledging

that was incapable of flight. He would not endure hardness.

As a good soldier, he's a greenhorn. He's the new

kid on the block. He's somebody that doesn't really fully

understand God. what he has got himself into. In fact,

if he could have a cell phone every day of

his life, he would have to be coerced to continue

on this journey by his mother. Or perhaps he would

have to be coached by some of the other apostles

back up In Jerusalem, Apostle Paul realizes, no, he does

not measure up, and no, he is not ready. And eventually,

during this missionary journey, we find that John Mark departs

from the company of Paul. After some time, John Mark

has been in church again. There's no doubt he's heard

the prayers of his mother again. And he's been in

the fellowship and the company of those miracle working apostles

of the Lord Savior Jesus Christ.

And through great zeal again, he feels like he.

Needs to go with the great apostle Paul. And apostle

Paul raises his hand to signify, hold on. On this trip,

this young man's not about to get on the road

with me. He's not going to ride co-pilot. He's not

going to be in the back seat. I know in

those days, they didn't have automobiles, but they had boats.

Or they had donkeys or horses, the different modes and

means for travel.

But you know what?

Here with time, the apostle Paul said, no, it is

not going to happen again. No way, absolutely not. He's unpredictable,

and he's unprofitable. What the apostle Paul was saying, seriously, really,

we need to put him on the sidelines and let

him be like his dear mother Mary, a prayer warrior

and a cheerleader. Oh, I thank God for the prayer

warriors of the local assembly, and I thank God for

every cheerleader in the pew cheering on the Holy Ghost

as it comes to the aid of the bride of

Jesus Christ. I remember when Sister Cheryl Harrison lost the

use of both the kidneys due to renal total complete failure.

renal failure she said pastor I won't be able to

stand up as much as I used to and testify

for five to ten minutes she said I won't be

able to receive the pastors often like I used to

she said but you know what I will be in

your corner and I will be over there saying amen

she said I'm not going to sit there and do

nothing Praise the Lord. John Mark might have been sidelined

by the Apostle Paul, but I don't feel like he

was sitting there doing nothing. How many of you are

in this building here tonight and I'm preaching to you?

I feel like there's some of you that are contemplating

just throwing in the towel, letting your vehicle run out

of gas. and you just say, I'm not measuring up.

I guess it was never meant to be. I was

never meant to be a holiness man. I was never

meant to be a holiness woman. I was never to

be a child of God, I suppose. I guess I

missed it. Listen, I'm preaching to you here tonight, John Mark. No,

you're not yet the apostle Paul. You're not even a Barnabas.

But I want to be a Barnabas in your life.

And I want to be like your mother Mary and

see that you are usable. I want to see that

you are profitable for the work of the ministry. I

want to see that you are profitable for the Bethel

Holiness Church.

Come on now.

I've never wanted to sideline any saint of God.

No.

No one's ministry in my entire lifetime. But I've told

some a time or two, what you need to do

is sit down and listen for a while. You need

to become a student of the Word of God and

show yourself approved unto God in the end. And only

then will the Apostle Paul feel that your ministry has

been approved of God. Listen, being daddy called and mama

sent is not enough. I feel like I'm talking about

six to eight individuals in this building tonight and some others.

You just want to give up because you've been put

to the side. You just want to give up because

you've been laid down on a shelf for a little while.

I want you to know that every vessel that is

kept at the potter's house is preserved for the intention

of being used.

At some point in time. Oh, thank God.

The Bible said after some time, the apostle Paul was

looking for some assistance.

I've got to move on.

And an excited John Mark received some information.

Dr.

Luke was privy to it.

The Bible said in 2 Timothy chapter number 4 and

verse number 11, only Luke... It's with me. Those are

the words of the Apostle Paul that said, John Mark

on the roadside. If you would, he put him in

a step on the dock and said, you're not going

on the next missionary journey because you're not ready. But

here sometime later, he's saying only Luke is here.

There's seemingly everybody else.

Is unavailable or they have given up or they didn't

ask for help but there was one who went home

with Barnabas and Barnabas the son of consolation who worked

with him and if anybody can help me he said

take Mark and bring him.

With thee for he is profitable to me.

He didn't say to me soup he didn't say to

clean the church that is a wonderful blessing to any

pastor to have somebody that will do such things as that.

But Apostle Paul said, he is profitable for the ministry.

I don't know about you here tonight, but it seems

to me like the Holy Ghost is saying, you might

have been set to the side right now, but don't

be weary. Don't give up. Believe that God has a

plan for your life. Every soldier that's ever been dumped

off behind enemy lines was thankful for the time of training,

Sister Iris Wooten. Every paratrooper that ever found their parachute

locked down in enemy territory was thankful that they were

taught how to quickly detach from that parachute, that life-saving parachute,

should it become hung in a tree.

Come on now.

I've heard of them men getting stuck hanging from the

very life-saving device only to be destroyed by the enemy

because they did not know how to detach themselves from

what supposedly was to save their life and to keep

their body from making impact.

With the earth.

I'm telling you, one disaster after another disaster can happen.

Ask the soldiers' family, those who lost their loved ones

at doomsday, whenever them ships come in, when them soldiers

like the ships flooded the beaches, and Sister Howell, they

were unprepared for the risen sea.

They were unprepared for what.

Hitler and them German engineers had put on the banks.

Come on now. They were unprepared.

And hundreds of thousands, I would guess, they ended up

losing their life. That is a day of infamy in

history because nobody fully anticipated and nobody fully expected what

would happen. Technology wasn't as advanced then. It was a

guessing game of some of the best estimators and guessers

in the world. Our generals, our government leaders made a good, educated,

scholarly guess, but they missed some things.

They missed some details.

Soldiers went overboard in 10 and 12 foot seas and

could not swim with a weight that was on their

back because somebody, their poor judgment, their poor estimate, caused

somebody their life. Apostle Paul knew the best thing for

this young man to do is to sit on the

sideline by the wayside until he's ready.

They get saved, and they get a dose of sanctification.

And some pastors throw them right into the ministry, throw

them right in the pulpit, throw them right into preaching,

knowing good and well that the wolf pack, spiritually speaking,

is going to target them the moment they call themselves

a minister. Come on, are you able to endure temptation?

Are you able to endure that spirit of giving up?

Are you going to let God reset that mindset? Are

you going to lose that quitter's mentality? You know how

many people I've saw over the years get excited about

living a sanctified lifestyle before God because they saw grandma

and grandpa do it. They looked at some picture album

and saw somebody like Claude Ely or Ralph Cox doing

it and they said for a moment, I can do that.

I can do that. And you know what?

They're like Torah soldiers. They do it for about six months,

or they do it for about a year or two.

But then the troubler of Israel comes. Then the troubler

of the children of God comes. Come on now, the

beguiler himself, the one that will bewitch people himself. He comes,

and Brother Jesse, they weren't near the soldier they thought

they were. You ever seen them young whippersnapper men? They

get a pickup truck. They finally turn 18. They finally

get themselves into a payment, and they feel like they're

a NASCAR driver, and they.

Go out there and drive like a fool on the interstate.

That's somebody that doesn't really know what could happen. That's

somebody that doesn't know the outcome. I'm telling you, soldiers

didn't anticipate the outcome on these days. Apostle Paul, because

he was a spirit fielder and because he himself had

been a persecutor, he knew what could happen to John Mark.

I think you could tell that John Mark was getting

into the ministry for the wrong reasons. John Mark's got

all the connections. He knows the high brass. He knows

those that know the way. He knows those that seemingly

have walked with the way himself. And Brother Jesse, it

seems to me like he's just starstruck. You know, Mama

prayed Peter. Peter knocked on the door. Wrote as a

dancing in the spirit. Peter speaking in tongues. The power

of God's fallen. All I need is the endorsement of

Peter and my mama Mary. And I'm going to go

out there and do what I feel like I should do.

But whatever persecution came. He realized, I'm not measuring up

to the apostle Paul. When hardship came, he realized there's

more to uncle or cousin Barnabas than I realize. Come

on now. What he should have done is went down

there and asked the guard to lock him in the

prison with Peter for a night or two so that

he can learn exactly what happens to those that put themselves.

In the line of fire.

I'm telling you, come on now. You're on a road

trip and you ain't thought about the outcome or the casualty.

Out here on I-75, just south of State Road 80,

there's a sign right in the middle of the interstate.

And there's a young man that kind of favors Brother

Justin Roadkip when Brother Justin was younger. He looks to

be maybe 25 or 30. There's a big picture of

his face on a post.

There's no body. There's only a post.

It's like them rifles that are stuffed in boots with

a helmet on. Supposed to look like the soldier that

once bore the helmet and the rifle and wore the shoes.

Brother Jesse, the widows and orphans, they are not satisfied

with that symbolism of the warrior.

They have lost the warrior.

Apostle Paul realizes this guy's going to get us hurt

and he's going to get somebody else hurt.

And that's what?

I'm telling you, that young man on I-75, he lost

his life because somebody was being foolish. Somebody didn't measure up.

Somebody couldn't control himself. I was doing 70 miles an

hour as I passed that, and I could read it

with my eyes. Brother Caleb had said, please slow down.

Who do you think wrote that? I'd say his father,

his mother, or some near kinsman. You know what Barnabas done?

He took that young preacher by the elbow and he said,

you know what?

I'm not going to make a spectacle of him.

I'm not going to embarrass him, but I'm going to

take him aside and I'm going to make him the

warrior he needs to be for the apostle Paul. I

want you to know Barnabas was nobody's fool. It was

him that brought the apostle Paul into the company of

the brethren. It was him that vouched for the apostle Paul.

It was him that stood before the great apostles like Peter, James,

and John and said, this man is our brother and

this man has been sent. Come on, I'm telling you,

Barnabas was somebody that knew when somebody needed work, he

was willing to work with them. And today that's what

Bethel's been known as. Throw us the reject. Throw us

the ones that left at the curb. We'll work with them.

Give us the ones you gave up on.

Give us the ones you said can't be somebody and

we'll work with them and ask God to make a

champion out of them. The household of Jesse wanted to

leave David on the roadside.

Just kick him to the curb. Just leave him alone.

You know what?

That was the right thing to do until the right

moment and the right day and the right time. The

right appointment. You are waiting for the right assignment and

the right appointment. And until then, you need to ask

for assistance. You ever seen somebody, Sister Molly, your teacher,

they just won't ask for aid, they just won't ask

for help, and they fail the class, and then they

tell everybody.

I didn't know what I was doing.

And the teacher says, all you had to do was

ask for help. All you had to do was ask

for help. I have a feeling that John Mark became

the theologian that he did. Because he said, uncle or cousin,

would you help me? Would you make me profitable for

the ministry? Come by my word. And give me assistance.

Come by here and help me. Come by here and

help me.

Amen. Should we keep preaching or should we go to

the chicken house?

Amen. In Ecclesiastes chapter number 4, somewhere around verses number

9 through 12, it said two are better than one.

It goes on around verse number 10 or 11 to

say if when them two are traveling, if one falls,

the other will pick them up. Jesus told his disciples,

when you travel, you go by twos. Are y'all listening

to me? In every missionary journey that the great apostle

Paul made, he had somebody with him. The Holy Ghost, yes,

but he also had a brother that was born per adversity.

He had that other two. Or he had that other three.

Are you with me, Luke? Yeah, I'm in here. This

prison is dark. This prison is dreary. This prison is dank. Yeah,

we'll record this, Luke.

While me and Silas was in prison together. The Spirit

of God moved after we had prayed and sang praises.

I'm telling you, sometimes you suffer setback. Sometimes you get

set on the sidelines. But I'll never understand why somebody

would give up. All you got to do is ask

for help.

Help. Help.

I heard it yesterday. I fell on my knees in

my living room. I'm sure my wife wondered what was wrong.

I've never done it in that manner or measure. I

prayed many a times where she saw me praying. But

God spoke to me, Sister Iris Wooten, and he said, pray,

somebody needs help. And I thought to myself, well, I

guess I'll get started in about five or ten minutes.

I've never been one to put the Lord off, you know,

50 minutes or five days.

Amen.

Amen.

I thought I'll get started in about five minutes. I

heard it again.

And he said, pray. Somebody needs help.

And you know what?

I'm your brother. And I'm your pastor. And I was

born for adversity. I see these preachers who have allowed

their church for whatever reason to end up in the ditch.

You know what the Lord's day is for? When you

find out somebody's, oh, come on there, ox is in

the ditch. This ain't talking about Brother Ethan Roadcap leaving

church and going and hooking to some crackhead's car that

could hire a tow truck driver or get another crackhead

to pull him out.

I'm telling you, their network's a lot bigger than you

think it is.

They don't want to spin their wheels very long on

the side of the road.

They're quick drivers. Ask for assistance.

But I'm telling you, preachers would learn how to say,

my church is in the ditch. Somebody would help them

get their church out of the ditch.

Amen.

Parents are busy saving face. Nobody wants to say, my

child's in a ditch. My family's in a ditch. This

ministry's not exactly what I forecasted or anticipated. Things are

happening that were unpredictable. It's not profitable. Why aren't you

asking for help? You know what we're apt to do

when we're in predicaments such as this? Our nature is

to ask for people that cannot help us. Our nature

is to request the assistance of somebody that cannot help us. Well,

I'm going to have a revival. Listen, was it divinely appointed?

Was it divinely orchestrated? Was God in it? Was it

taking place on both ends, meaning was the preacher saturated

by prayers? Was the revival saturated by tears from both

parishioner and preacher and pastor? If not, you know what's

going to happen? There's going to be a lot of

John Marks sitting there in the pew waiting for spiritual

growth and spiritual development.

Come on now.

Have you been praying in church or have you just

thought about giving up? and getting away from what God

would have you do? Have you thought about just running

for the hills, packing your bag?

Come on.

That must have been a pitiful sight when the apostle

Paul saw John Mark walking on the dock and walking

away from what God had for him to do.

You know what? He wasn't ready though.

And I'm telling somebody here tonight, you might not be

ready now, but if you stick in this thing with

God and his people, you will be ready after all.

I have a brother who a great man of God

at that time told him, said, you're not ready. It

got to within a month of his wedding, wasn't it,

Sister Hal? Maybe a few weeks of his wedding. That

great man of God pulled that young girl that went

to his church, not worried about what my brother or

our family thought or what my brother's pastors thought. That

preacher said, he said, I'm telling you, this girl goes

to my church and she ain't ready.

He said, I told you, I told you.

And I remember some strong emotions coming up on both

sides of that battle line. I remember there were people

for it, and there were people against it. Some on

both sides for it, and while others on both sides

were against it. I remember that night that happened, and

I remember the night of their wedding when it was

supposed to take place. I told Sister Charity, I said,

I can't pick sides. I'm not to question the pastor

that knows his little lamb. I said, but what I

will do, I'll go pick my brother up. And we'll

ask him to pick his wife to be up. And

we'll just take them to Woody's in Sebring, Florida. I

think it's the first time I'd ever been to Woody's

in Sebring, Florida. And we met over there. And we

had some barbecue on what was supposed to be the

night of their wedding. Can I tell you that a

year later, her pastor said she is ready. Now, as

the bride of Christ, we're not supposed to be on

the roadside begging for bread.

Are y'all with me?

As the bride of Christ, we're not supposed to be

incessantly sleeping and slumbering.

He's coming through the street. Come on.

He's wanting to know, have we made ourself ready?

Are we listening for the call? Are we ready?

Well, apparently my sister-in-law decided that she'd be ready 12

months from then.

And you know what?

I guess she was because her pastor said, the bride

hath made herself ready. Years later, he told me, he said,

she was not yet weaned from her mother. She was

not ready. I said, I never questioned you. He said,

trust me. I said, I've never not trusted you. He said,

she was not ready. He said, that marriage would have

ended up in divorce, but shy of a miracle of

the God of heaven and earth. He said, I'm just

telling you, it was a ticking time bomb. She had

some preparation prepared. She had to get her mind in order.

She had to get her ducks in a row.

And you know what?

They've been married now probably about 22, 25 years.

Got 11 or 12 kids.

They're on family vacation this week. Aren't you thankful for

a one-year delay?

Aren't you thankful.

That somebody like Apostle Paul would say, I know the

desire of your heart, but you just are not ready.

I listen to these preachers around here preach. And it's

a wonder that we can keep them around here because

they're such great preachers.

And you know what?

There'll be some foolish person that comes by here and

due to jealousy, they'll try to push them out into

the boat. They'll try to push them in their truck

and trailer onto the road. And they'll try to push

them right on out in the ministry. But if they

are not ready... Hey, as a daddy, I think sometimes, man,

these guys are almost ready to pastor a church. But

when I go to prayer, God said there's a few

more things they need to learn. They've got some babies.

Like Jacob, the brother of Esau. Esau was ripped, burned,

and ready to go. And the Bible said he just

ripped right on up the road. Are y'all with me?

Getting that big truck and just rip right. I don't

have to row. But Jacob said, let me lead on softly.

I've got some babies. Oh, come on now. I've got

a wife. I've got some babies in this wagon. You

need some roadside assistance tonight. I'm here to help you.

I'm here to help you on this road of life.

Think about it. I'm going to take you back to

that sign on I-75 that mother said, slow down. I

think the name of her baby is Jacob.

Slow down. Slow down. Well, you know what?

I appreciate her telling some people that, but she don't

have to tell the father. of six and the grandpa

of 19 and the leader of.

A tribe of 30 slow.

Down and a pastor they say are 75 in this

building right now that's what I'm doing here tonight I'm

slowing down I don't want to run you off from

this church. I don't want to run you out of

your salvation. Not that I could. I don't want to

run you out into this world.

I don't want to run. Come on now. The older

brother ran the prodigal out. That's what happened. I do

want to run the devil off. I do want to run.

The wolf off. I do want to run the line off.

That's my job. That's why I'm the shepherd. Come on.

But if your ox is in the ditch, I want

to help you get your ox out of the ditch.

If your attitude is broken, I want to help you

have your spirit revived.

Come on now.

I'm telling somebody in this building tonight, the good days

are ahead.

Don't give up in the learning years. Only Luke is

with me. That's bleak. But then the sun rises. Hey, hey, hey.

John Mark.

He's profitable for ministry. In Mark chapter number 10 and

verse number 46. And they came to Jericho. And as

he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a

great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus,

sat by the highway side begging. Miss Miranda knows who

your pastor is. The other day she walked in the Goodwill,

stood beside me. She's become like a sister to me.

You leave her alone now.

There's spirits in there.

She's become like a sister to me ever since she

broke and cried. And we asked her if Jesus could

come into her heart. She just always comes to me.

And she stands there. And Brother Phillip, she's standing there.

She needed something to wear. She needed something to get

the stench off of her, a little perfume stick. This

is a woman, for the most part, seemingly is out

of her mind. Y'all know what I'm talking about. One

of the worst cases you've ever been around. Sister Howe's

up there at the register checking us out at Goodwill.

And she come over there and stood by me real respectfully.

I said, God, let some of her mind come back

to her. And she spoke to that clerk in just

the plainest black English you ever heard. And I'm telling you,

three or four sentences sounded like an intelligent woman with

just the black lingo. And she looked at me and

gave me that old grin. And then after a while,

I slipped my hand in my pocket and pulled out

two $ 5 bills I never gave her that much. And

I said, Miranda, go pay for that stuff. It ain't drugs.

It ain't alcohol.

Go pay for that stuff for the preacher's money. She

got in line behind Sister Howell. And Brother Nathaniel, I'm

telling you what, she had a smile on her face.

And then yesterday, she come up to where Sister.

Hal and I was.

And she said, do you have any money?

I said, Sister Hal.

And she's never been begging of us at all. I

don't think she's ever directly asked us for something. And

Sister Hal said, Miss Miranda, not today. But I've got

something better than that. Sister Hal went on in the

store and come out. And gave her a big bag

of red Doritos. Brother Nathaniel, we're preaching now. And some

Mountain Dew. I'm telling you, in less than two seconds,

Miranda snatched that bag, opened it, got the biggest smile,

and looked right through the window at me and just smiled.

And Sister Hal turned to her and said, Jesus still

loves you. And Jesus still wants to save you. She

had another meltdown on the roadside. I told Sister Hal,

I said, I'm glad you didn't tarry. I'm glad you

didn't sit there and drive her mad. I'm glad you

didn't sit there and try to wear her out until

she got angry. Hey, Sister Wooten, I backed up with

her weeping and crying. She had put the Doritos to

the side, put the Mountain Dew to the side. I'm

telling you, somebody's sitting by the wayside begging. And that's

where Bartimaeus was. Blind Bartimaeus, John Mark said. Blind Bartimaeus,

John Mark said. Hey, but you know what? The Bible

said he got up, he left that beggar's garment. You

know why he did that? Because he had no intention

whatsoever to remain blind.

Hey, come on. The Bible said he's sitting by the

highway begging.

That's a dangerous place to be, sister, rooting by the highway.

You'll get ran over by a chariot. You'll get ran

over by a mule. You'll get laid low by a donkey.

That's his only option is to sit by the highway

side begging. But he heard, and it was Jesus that

was passing by. Listen, you may not be able to

see your future. Your dream may be dimming. You may

have a dim view of your dream. You may be

watching your future fade away. But I want you to know, no,

you can't see it. I heard it yesterday. I heard

it today. God said to tell them. I've got roadside

assistance for them. Oh, come on now. My brother may

have heard. It was Jesus. And you tonight are hearing

this message of hope. God is going to use you

after a while. Feel the Holy Ghost by the wayside begging.

Brother Phillip, sit right here on the roadside begging. He

can't see nothing. The Bible said there's a host of people,

a multitude, many people. You can't see it coming to pass,

can you? You can't see your future. You don't know how.

I really thought he wanted me to preach. I really

thought he wanted me to teach. Sister Denise, I really

thought he wanted me to be an elder at Bethel.

I really thought. I really felt it. I really thought.

I really felt it. Sister Denise, his plans for you

haven't changed. Jeremiah 29, verse number 11.

Amen. I really thought.

Hey, Brother Sam, I really thought I was supposed to preach.

I really thought I was supposed to teach. I got

some words in my heart.

Amen.

But just right now, for some reason, Pastor's saying I'm

not ready. Hey, it ain't that I don't want that

man out there on the street corner preaching. Are y'all

listening to me? Right now the situation is not conducive

for some things around here. Right now the situation is

not conducive for somebody to stand on this platform and preach,

but I'm not against anybody. Are y'all listening to me here?

I'm trying to help you here tonight. And if this

message can't help you, only Jesus can help you because

Jesus is behind this message.

But you know what? I just don't see it anymore.

It just doesn't make sense anymore. Hey, why in the

world do I even have eyeballs? Why in the world

do I even have eyelids? Why in the world do

I even have eyelashes? Why do I even have eyebrows?

Why don't I just have a plain, dead face? I mean,

I can't see myself doing nothing. I can't see anybody

else doing anything. I'm in a sad state. But you've

got the Word of God tonight. I said you've got

the Word of God tonight. All you've got to do

is ask for assistance. I'm telling you. Sky support is available.

I said air support is available. My help coming.

From the Lord.

My brother mayest believe his help comes from the Lord.

Brother Jesse and Brother Nathaniel, with the preaching you guys

have been doing around here, 10,000 people say you're able

to pastor a church. It'd take a fool to say

you're not able to pastor churches. But you know what?

Something down inside just tells me not yet.

Not yet. Not yet, but it's like that rodeo bull

that's being trained out in the pasture. Are y'all with me?

Being trained out there in the pasture.

One day that rodeo bull gets a strap put around

his girth. One day he gets a number. put on

his chest and one day it's more than Ferdinand the

bull are y'all with me there is a bull out

there and there ain't no rodeo clown or no rodeo

clown boy can ride that bull I'm telling you the

devil will ride you in the ground and the devil

will destroy homes he'll destroy families he'll destroy ministries I

saw evangelists buy trucks and trailers I saw them take

their beautiful families on the road and they're backslid right

now today all they gotta do is cry out.

Help me. I'm stuck on the side of the road.

I lost my truck. I lost my trailer. I've lost

my family.

Somebody help me. One of the greatest preachers the holiness

movement of modern times ever knew.

I'm telling you what, son. He could preach. He was

a preacher.

He got truck and trailer and something happened. And you

know what they said? He ended up hook on drugs

is what they said. You listen, the ministry ain't for

the faint of heart.

But I tell you, when He calls you, He equips

those that He sends. Hey, come on.

You say, I'm not able. He enables those that He sends.

You say, well.

I don't know that I'm ready. Well, you're not ready then.

And you might feel like you're ready. Come on.

But God is not going to say, ready or not,

here you go. If somebody really cares about you and

your family, they're going to wait until you're ready. Hey!

Roadside assistance. How may I help you? Yeah, I'm a

little mother down here. I don't think it's postpartum depression,

but sister, how do you get over this? Well, they

didn't make it. Well, they didn't make it. Did they

call their mama? Did Ethan call his mama? Did he

call his daddy? I told the Howell boys. I said,

if the devil ever gets to working on your mind

and you get where you can't see a way out,

you can't see hope for a way out, and the

devil's got you in a kaleidoscope of confusion, you don't

know up from down, he turns you topsy-turvy, I said,

show up at my house. I said, sit right there

at my front door until I get home. And when

I get home, you sit there. It don't matter if

I'm in the shower or not, Brother Samuel. It don't

matter if I'm in the bed. You sit right there. Megan,

you show up. You sit right there in the chair.

When Papa does figure out you're there, we'll sit there

for six to ten hours. I'm going to tell you something.

Just a few, few, few moments of, if you would,

caving the peer pressure young person. They just put you

in the cooker, and you take one puff on that

cannabis-infused vape. You take one puff and you don't even

realize you just got sidelined. You don't even realize you're

going to be mowed over by more than a donkey

or a burrow that's carrying a load. I'm telling you,

come on. You better leave drugs alone. You better leave

nicotine alone. You better leave alcohol alone. There's nothing in

the world that would destroy a life like drugs and alcohol.

I'm preaching to somebody here tonight. You better cry out

for roadside assistance. That's why you are giving somebody. If

my brother falls, I'll lift him up. Though a good man,

though a righteous man fall seven times, he's got to

get up.

Amen. Don't you wait until the conviction is gone. Don't

you wait. Y'all see Brother Phillip?

Amen. As lost as a bald and tall grass, high

grass right there. Hey. Just as blind as a bat

as the saying goes. And the Bible said Jesus stood still.

John Mark must have been listening to the stories of

Jesus that Peter and his mother Mary told. Because you

find it right here in his gospel. Hey, he must

have believed these stories.

Amen. Praise the Lord.

He came by and helped blind Bartimaeus when he couldn't

see his future.

He'll help me. I'll get back on the road. Amen.

Hey, I'll go on a missionary journey after a while.

The will of God will be done in my life

after a while. Come on, it's the Lord that works

in you, both the will and the do of his

good pleasure. Well, well, blind Barnabas, just die, give up,

and go to hell. That's basically what they're saying.

Shut up.

Hey, blind man, shut up. Hey, blind man, shut up. Hey,

John Mark, just go to the house and give up. No,

you don't find anywhere in the Word of God where

John Mark gave up. I feel like he went to

his prayer closet. I feel like he took out his

pen and started writing things that Peter and Mary talked

about that the church had done.

Are y'all with me? Come on.

They say one of the first gospels to be written

was Mark's. I got good news to bring. That sounds

like the workings of a missionary to me, Brother Caleb.

First thing you need is a message that burns like fire.

You need a gospel not about yourself but about Jesus. Hey,

it's no longer about the missionary journey of John Mark

with Paul. Now it's about, let me tell you about

the life teaching and ministry of Jesus Christ. It's all

in Jesus. It's all in Jesus. My sweet Jesus, don't

look at me so religious here tonight. Don't act like

you haven't contemplated and considered giving up.

Here's the reason why I flopped like a fish out

of that.

Chair and buried my head in the recliner seat and

started praying.

Hey, come on now.

Oh, brother Philip, would you cry out, Jesus, thou son

of David, have mercy on me. Hush, blind man. Hush,

blind man. But he cried all the more louder. And

finally Jesus stood still, the Bible said. And Jesus walked

to the man to the disappointment of others. Some of

you might be disappointed about what I'm preaching here tonight.

But I was born to get them off the side

of the road.

I said I was born to get them off the

side of the road. My God in heaven, I feel

the power of God.

In this house tonight. Our second co-text was this. Our

second co-text was this. Luke chapter number 10 and verse

number 30, 34.

There was a good Samaritan.

All them religious people wasn't worried about that man that

had been caught amongst the thieves. That one that had

been stripped and beaten and left half for dead.

Come on.

Beaten black and blue and left for dead. But then

the Good Samaritan come by. What do we have here?

And that's what your pastor, Jeremy David Howe, who is

a nobody, is doing. I'm looking at you and saying,

what do we have here? It may need road assistance,

but it ain't roadkill. That's what I come here to

tell you tonight. You may need road assistance, but you

ain't roadkill.

Oh, come on now. The devil ain't killed you off yet.

I said the devil hasn't killed you off yet.

And one day, something changed blind Barnabas. And you know

what he said? Lord, that I might receive my sight.

And you know what happened? Brother Phillip, he received his sight.

At this point, he knows where the road's at. At

this point, he knows the desired destination. At this point,

Sister Hal, he knows where he's going. He can see clearly.

Oh, come on now.

He can see clearly. I'm trying to help you here

tonight understand. If you ask for assistance and let the

Lord help you. Hey, listen, making them phone calls all

over the country. All that does is generate confusion. I

ain't heard of anybody doing it here. But I've been

in Pentecostal church half a century. I know how they

do it. They call around trying to feel better. But

the only way I've seen people avoid becoming roadkill was

when they got in their own home church around an

altar and they prayed to and threw up a, oh,

come on ahead. I said, I need assistance. Sister Wooten,

I don't need your prayers at the church. I need

the spirit of the prophetess to pray over me right now.

I need my pastor's wife to pray over.

Me right now. Come on now.

Oh my God in heaven, John Mark could have stood

on the dock for the next 20 years and said,

assail and we will go.

Assail and we will go.

Y'all know as good as I do, he would have

never done anything for God. He had to learn some things.

I said he had to learn a thing or two

I'm talking about six or eight of you here tonight,

young girls. Why do we have to identify with the

people of this world? Why does fashion even affect us?

Why does fashion and form, come on, even affect us?

Why does it even bother us? As the children, the sons,

and the daughters of God, why does what the people

of this.

World even affect us? Why? Why?

Why? I've never been desirous since I got saved to

smoke a cigarette. I've never had a desire to hit

a joint. I've never had a desire to sip on

a bottle, sipping alcohol.

Why? Why?

I'm telling you the devil has put you on the

side of the road. I'm talking to some young people

right here tonight. And you've got to get some prayer.

I'm telling you what. You've got to pray. You've got

to cry out.

You've got to cry out God help me I don't

want to be this way I've always been this way

something's got to change within me God I don't like

me how many of you ever told God man God

I don't like being this way I hate being this

way and one day something changes I'll know it when

it changes I'll know it when it changes. who's that

coming from over yonder that's John Mark Paul hey John

how you doing John how you doing brother John.

How you doing brother John Dr. Luke meet John Mark Woo!

That one right there is profitable for us. And then

when John Mark goes to the bathroom, Apostle Paul whispers

to Luke and says, there's a time I sent him home.

There's a time I fired him. Amen. But now I'm

ready to promote him as CEO. Praise God. Missions, missions, missions, missions, missions.

Come on now.

Missionary, missionary. Work to be done. Work to be done.

Work to be done. I want to do it. Don't

you want to do it? I feel like you want

to do it. I'm not talking to some lazy or

sloppy people around here tonight. I'm talking to some people

who want to do something for God. Well, you will

be doing something for God soon enough.

My God in heaven. Sweet Lamb of God. They're waiting

on me to say something else, Nathaniel. What else can

be said?

Sister Wooten, one of your greatest concerns, I've heard you

voice this for 20 years, is contracting some sort of

disease or having an accident that would render you totally

dependent on others.

And you know what? You say that all the time.

I don't want to I have to have somebody wait

on me hand and foot.

I don't want to put them in that situation. I

don't want to do that to them.

And there's two people in this building, Brother Tyler and

Sister Crystal, that would say, you know what, Sister, we

won't stop that foolish talk. We'll be glad to talk

to you, help you, talk to you, do whatever we

need to do to provide aid and assistance to you.

We'll wipe your slobber off your mouth. We'll change your diaper.

We'll help you. We'll take care of you. You took

care of us. We will nurture you. We'll love you.

We'll care for you. That's their nature. That would be

their assignment of assistance to Sister Wooten this late in life.

Sister Wooten, there may be a particular type of food

that you don't like. If you've ever made Tyler eat

something he didn't like, it'll be paybacks. Grandma, you don't

like this, but eat it. It's good for you. Sister Wooten,

spit it back. God forbid that she'd be a stroke victim.

I'm not prophesying that and I'm not saying it's going

to happen, but it can happen to anybody in this building.

But I'll tell you this, I know that woman would

be one of the first to ask for assistance if

it was needed. Because every service when we come to church,

you can tell she gets help from the Lord. And

sister Hal, for those that haven't made it, the soldiers

that haven't made it, the soldiers that haven't endured Sister

Whitney never got in the spirit. They never come to

the altar. They never let anybody pray for them because

I'm the untouchable.

I'm big enough.

I've never claimed to be an angel, but according to

the beloved John, he said to them, Angels of the

churches as the pastors. And I'll tell you this, once

in my life I know God used me as an angel.

I am not no divine being nor am I a

heavenly being other than I have heavenly residence.

Amen. I do belong to a crew that's in the

celestial city. I am an alien. I'm a stranger. Just

ain't found home yet. But I'm a searchin'. But I.

Remember when these Howell boys and Hannah were young, I

don't know who was in the vehicle with me, but

Sister Howell needed to pick something up at the Winn-Dixie.

As sure as I live, if I've ever heard the

Spirit of God just like I heard him yesterday and today,

God spoke to me, said, let her out at the

front doors. And he said, drive up about a quarter

mile north on State Road 37.

Who was in the car with me? Brother Jesse, was

there anybody else? Is that it?

Brother Nathaniel, Brother Jesse. I let Sister Howe and the

other kids go into the Winn-Dixie. I didn't tell her anything.

Instead of sitting in the parking lot in the parked car,

Sister Wooten and I heard Heaven say, drive north a

quarter mile, and I'll show you what you're to do.

I went a quarter mile north, hung a left, and

did a U-turn. No sooner made that U-turn sitting on

the side of the road is a woman, a young

woman and her husband, totally devastated. distraught and I felt

it yesterday and I felt it today concerning people that

will hear this message I got out of the vehicle

they didn't know me I didn't tell them who I

was I didn't offer many identity as what appeared to

be a holiness man meaning my holiness attire which I

believe angels in heaven would match that attire I didn't

look like a member of the Hells Angels I Apparently,

God wanted to use a holiness man that day. I

walked up to that man and woman who's totally distraught

by the roadside, begging for God to have mercy. And

I said, what's wrong? How can I help you? I

was sent here to help you. And they looked at

me and said, we just spent our last $ 800 on

this transmission only to get... three miles up the road

from our house, and for it to blow up and

to strand us on the side of the road. We

just spent, a young couple, Sister Hannah, we just spent

our last $ 800. We need this vehicle to get to

and from work. We need this vehicle to run errands.

We need this vehicle to survive. And they said, you

know what? We don't even have the money to tow

it three miles up the road to our house.

I said, fear not.

I wasn't pretending to be an angel, nor was I

trying to act like I was an angel. In the moment,

operating in the spirit, and later on, I realized God

used me and Jesse and Nathaniel that day. I took

them home. They had no money to offer. Repeatedly, over

and over and over again, they said, thank you, kind sir.

Thank you, kind sir. And I guarantee you, I vanished

from their life. I've never seen them people again. But

I doubt they've ever lost the memory. About 12 years ago,

right here in LaBelle, Florida, one night, we were leaving McDonald's.

After a service. And the Spirit of God spoke to

me and said, go home a different way. And I did.

And when we went home a different way, there was

a young man in the middle of the road, broke

down his car, totally immobilized. And he's running his hands

through his hair, and he's crying and bent over, bowed over,

the Bible would say, and agonizing and saying, but it

was my last $ 500. I gave it to the mechanic

to fix my car, and he didn't fix it. And

I walk up out of the darkness, and I say,

kind sir, how can I help you? He said, my car.

I just spent my last $ 500. I don't have any

more money, and I'm stranded. Immediately, the Holy Ghost revealed

to me that it was out of gas. I said,

does it have gas? He says, I don't know. The

gas gauge doesn't work. I said, it's out of gas.

I said, hold on.

I'll be right back.

Went down the road, bought some gas, poured it in

the can, and poured it in the tank. And Brother Caleb,

we fired it up. He was so thankful and so appreciative.

This is the true story. Immediately, Around us was seven

or eight interesting unidentified vehicles. Vehicles that had tires. Motor vehicles.

They surrounded that individual. They lit that place up. They

walked up to where that young man was and was

fixing to question him. Why are you in the middle

of this road? Why are you here like this? I

stepped into the light. They shone that light in my face.

Was any of you Howells there that night? You were,

Brother Phillip. Any of the others here? Brother Nathaniel? They

shined that light in my face. Men that I've never

met in my life, men that I don't know from

Adam's house cat, as the saying goes, they looked at

me and they said, oh, it's you, Pastor Howell. Thank

you for helping this man. He's received the help he needs.

And they went and got in their vehicles and drove off.

To this day, I don't know who them men are.

I don't know what vehicles they were driving. I'm talking

about roadside assistance. Roadside assistance. You know why pastors give

up and why they lose their churches? Because they refuse

to ask for help from another pastor that has wisdom.

They refuse to have a real revival with real men

of God who know how to pray in real revival.

You know why parents lose their children? Because they refuse

to say, I need road assistance. My child and I

were stranded on the road of life. I need to

bring them to the altar. I need to bring them

to the house of God. We need to kneel down

to this altar as a family. As I said early

on in this message, in the Bible days, they didn't

have motor vehicles.

They had boats.

And Apostle Paul likened the faith of some who had

made shipwreck.

Sister Howell, shipwreck.

When two of your tires are flattened and you can't

move and you're stuck, as Brother Samuel Howell said tonight,

you've got to say, somebody help me. Because what you

can't afford to do is sit there on that roadside overnight.

That's what the good Samaritan knew. I've got to get

him to the end, and I've got to get him

off this roadside before he becomes roadkill. Now, we're fixing

to take an hour-long message and turn it to an

hour and 15-minute long if we ain't careful. I don't

want to turn sideways here. Let's stand.

Could we please? I love you.

I'm here for your adversity, and I'm going to say

it again. I'm preaching to six to eight of you.

And I want to say something. A hole in this

young person that even attempts to smoke a joint is

a fool. You might as well dare to kiss a

rattlesnake in the mouth. And I'm going to say to

you preachers that don't have the Holy Ghost, what I

know is you need the Holy Ghost. Men do it

every day. And I've never gone out there and tried

to stop anybody from preaching. But I'm going to tell

you something. I had the sense to not try it

without the Holy Ghost. Because I'm no match for the devil.

Let's get our ducks in a row. Get our priorities straight,

brother Christian. You have a call on your life. Your

former pastor, you told me, and I'm not his judge,

and I may not know exactly who it is. You

said one of your former pastors had you preaching. And

let me ask you a question.

Would you be saved today had you kept preaching without

the Holy Ghost? The devil would have beat you to

a bloody pulp. I watched your daddy, who's probably 48

years old. I watched your daddy wait with the Holy Ghost.

Up until Sister Hal, what, maybe two years ago, he

answered the call. You know why?

Because Brother Aaron Wood has seen what the devil would do.

Sister Hal, I'll tell you, that devil not tempted me

to sin, not tempted me to use alcohol or drugs,

not tempted me to sin. That devil will jump on

my health every two or three days in the most mysterious,

horrible way. The other day, I'm driving down the road.

Feels like my right arm's about to fall off. I

asked the Lord, I said, what is it? It ain't

no heart attack.

I know that.

Brother Phillip, I touched it right in here three times,

and it made a loud popping noise.

Pop, pop, pop.

I said, it's just like there was air bubbles in there,

Sister Hannah. And I heard the Holy Ghost say, it's

just an affliction. Brother Jesse, it grew worse and grew

worse and grew worse. That's the hand I hold the

microphone with. Just an affliction. I'm telling you, I love you.

I appreciate you. I'm for you. I'm for you. But

I'm telling you, you're on the roadside right now. And

there's a reason for it. And you need to ask

for assistance. And it is my assignment to give you assistance.

It is my assignment as your pastor to provide assistance

for you.

Can we bow our heads and close our eyes?

I want the brothers on this side to take this
